Marvel Comics’ “The Darkhold Alpha” Begins in September
Marvel Comics’ The Darkhold saga will begin in September 2021. The story will be told through a series of one shots with each focusing on a different hero.
The Darkhold saga kicks off with writer Steve Orlando and artist Cian Tormey’s The Darkhold Alpha #1. The Darkhold, also known as the Book of the Damned, written by elder god Chthon, has been found by a great sorcerer...and Chthon has found him. Scarlet Witch recruits Iron Man, Wasp (Janet Van Dyne), Black Bolt, Blade, and Spider-Man to help save the world. “But in order to enter Chthon's dimension and fight him, the heroes must read from the legendary Darkhold, which drives them utterly insane. Together, they’ll have to confront their inner darkness to overcome of the most powerful mystical threats the Marvel Universe has ever faced.” (Marvel Comics)
The Darkhold Alpha #1, with two covers by Greg Smallwood - a main cover featuring Doctor Doom and a variant cover featuring Scarlet Witch - goes on sale on September 22, 2021.

Today I’ve got pics of the Marvel Legends M.O.D.O.K. I’ve always wanted a figure of MODOK, but the ToyBiz BAF was just about unattainable. Now I finally have one thanks to this release. It’s really good too, about as good as a MODOK figure can get. The interchangeable faceplates really add a ton of personality to this guy.
My only complaint is that I wish he had some blast effects. Then again, I’m not sure how you’d attach them. Maybe an interchangeable purple crown with a big hole in it?
All the same, this MODOK is a very strong release from ML. So strong, I really want some A.I.M. soldiers to go with him now.

oh god... oh god oh god oh god...
The Eighth Doctor audio, "Doom Coalition 1," Part 2: "The Red Lady," section 4, at 3:00... i'm so fucking scared, genuinely. this is scary. i'm liveblogging while listening for the first time and i have no idea what's about to happen but...
a transcript and MANY spoilers under the cut, including a summary of the audio so far. this is...... chilling
Prof: This tapestry, this figure here, I think this is the (terrifying) face "he" (a man who's just been mysteriously murdered) spoke of. I think it's hers.
Helen: Are you sure that's a woman?
Prof: Of course it's a woman. Distorted, yes. Grotesque, yes. But obviously a woman. Definitely a woman.
Helen: I don't know. She's too far away to see properly.
Prof: Far away? Don't be ridiculous. She's close enough to clearly see that she's a woman.
Helen: I can barely make her out.
Prof: You mean... it's just me?
Helen: I don't understand.
Prof: Well, her hands. She's reaching up to take off her mask. You can see that, can't you? Tell me you can see that.
Helen: Her hands are by her sides.
so: a man mysteriously dies. he owns a whole estate of ancient artifacts from all over the globe, and each of them contains a tiny, far-off depiction of a "red lady." his dying wish, before his extremely mysterious death (along with the deaths of all of his family members) is that the pieces be locked in a vault and never EVER seen again.
the executor of his will goes against his wishes and donates the collection to a museum. the Professor, who works at the museum, is going through the collection late at night when he gets a phone call. it's the will executor, and he's horribly murdered while still on the phone - whatever killed him ripped the locked door off its hinges. he babbles about a "terrible face" before the Professor hears him die, which is followed by several seconds of heavy breathing, and then the line goes dead.
in one of the tapestries the Professor is cataloging, the woman has gotten closer and closer, and she's reaching up to remove her mask. he's the only one that can see it.
brb, shitting my pants actively and violently, i have no idea what's about to happen but my blood is cold as fuck and i'm as goosebumpy as the shitty side of a cheese grater
