I’m going back to loveposting! I’ve said everything I wanted to say, and quite frankly I’m not enjoying that energy at all. I much prefer lifting people up by looking to the good in them. I will continue to post the things I love about Dream, George and Sapnap. I believe everybody, deeply, inherently, is a good, perfect soul, and may be only temporarily waylaid—through the false ideas of fear, insecurity and lack of self-love—to the discovery of that expression of goodness. I believe what we focus on becomes what we see everywhere. So going forward, I will continue to focus on the goodness I can see.

Sometimes you´re out grocery shopping and idly browsing the frozen veg section when you suddenly remember that the queen threw up after Erik´s death when Wille said he´s always been compared to his brother and Wille threw up when he realized he´s going to have to keep being crown prince.

And you think about similar reactions to stress of parent and child and you remember the queen told Wille to take three deep breaths when he freaked out over Simon´s date and how she sends him to therapy to control his outbursts (ugh).

And you think where did it all go wrong that she can´t ever connect with her son when she´s obviously got some experience in that department. I think we meet her so far into her own history of controlling her emotions that she´s unable and mostly unwilling to connect even when Wille is outright asking her to be his mom (gah!), because oh hey, those would be more emotions she would need to allow to break through, and those walls are staying. Maybe in her mind even for Wille´s own good, to teach him how it´s done.

And there´s certainly reasons for those walls and it´s probably part self-protection and probably people telling her from a young age she needs to have them, and probably also because she´s a woman on the throne, so people would probably insist a little extra on them.

The most honest and raw I´ve seen her in the show is the moment she throws up.

(I usually question what she´s saying to Wille or August, no matter what warm or soft tone she´s using about what the court allegedly wants her to do, how it´s not really her, and how she actually supports Wille etc, as she´s been proven to manipulate Wille (and August in S2) into doing what she thinks is best for the institution she´s the head of. The one whose survival is always the priority, as per her own words.)

She´s shown to do royal business in what looks like pyjamas after all, the most casual and private of clothes, telling us there´s no separation, ever, that she´s always the queen. She rolls her eyes at her son after ending a phone call in which a rattled Wille sits among shards of glass negotiating with her (!), after she wanted to forcibly remove him from school. She doesn´t ever truly seem torn or conflicted, except that one time she throws up.

When her emotional core literally breaks its way out of her against her will.

No wonder she completely underestimates Wille and the depth and power for change his emotions hold after he´s finally allowed some therapy (that he could have used long ago just for growing up in that institution) and experienced actual emotional growth and healing instead of using it for control like she probably has. No wonder she and the court collectively underestimate Simon and what his love, what their love and connection mean to Wille. (Looking at you, Jan-Olof, allowing Wille a moment with Simon, you fool!) It´s simply been too long behind those impenetrable walls that she can´t even see it anymore. Until her son shows her. And you wonder if he´s even breaking through to her, or if she´s just been confirmed in her fears about his emotional unruliness and will dig in deeper inside her fortress. (Another time if feels like we see some honest emotion from her is of course in S1 when she´s visibly angry as she says that nobody ever chooses the royal life, so maybe Wille can relay Boris´ message about choosing how to live your life to her? Maybe she´s not beyond Boris´ wisdom. Anyway.)

The show shines such an unforgiving light on that institution that chokes all feelings and individual freedom out of you, especially over such a long time as with the queen, but I love love love how hopeful and defiant Wille´s journey of deliberate progress is in the face of it.

And I do hope he´ll continue therapy and never allows his own walls back up once they´re down.

I kinda hate how Cirie's demise has exposed how comp dependent BB has become. Like yeah we been knew, but it’s like… you don't need to do all this song and dance on Survivor. But because a single person has the power to control the fate of everyone in the house week to week, it requires players to cover themselves on all sides, resulting in the post-16 meta of a huge onion alliance to maximize one's chances of not hitting the block any given week. There's no need for that in Survivor; the only person an immunity winner can impact is themselves, so the rest of the tribe isn't forced to play around the whims of a single person. And with the comps themselves becoming increasingly physical over the years, somehow this glorified summer camp is more dependent on physical fitness than the game that starves people on an island for a month and a half.

Can't sleep again. Thinking about how I don't like knight/prince(ss) as a trope. Besides the fact that it's boring to me. This isn't "discourse" or a call out or anything it's just a personal interpretation and analysis

while yeah there's nothing wrong with that level of power imbalance in fiction, these tropes always act like that's a cute thing which I just find to be. 😬 y'know. Referring to a character as a "pet" for the royal one without understanding that that's. not a great dynamic to have. The "don't call them toxic or problematic!" When the relationship is inherently not equal and can never be without issues, but this can't possibly be discussed because then the person who ships it is a bad person 🙃

and for someee reason still bitching about the "more obvious" power imbalances like enemies, who most of the time end up being MORE equal because they're the same person same situation different fonts

It's fine to me when it's used as an insult (something something loyalty) and then there's discussion of "you know you mean so much more to me than that", or when there's a Very Obviously Fucked Up imbalance that is Very Obviously Not Normal and yet the one that gets the short end of the stick is like "fuck this I don't care that you think you're better than me. Your power only exists because I give you it, so be very careful how you use it" (and when they use it wrong there are consequences that don't get magically forgiven)

If the one with less control isn't very very aware of how much power the other has over them and could exert if they wanted to (but also the fact that the relationship and its genuineness hinges on their agreement) it gets a bit too concerning for me. If there isn't a certain level of meta intertextual analysis and understanding of the way the very much dominant/submissive dynamic works then it's just. Not interesting and often frustrating

I had been a little down when it came to creating more content or being involved in Zukka side of the fandom but seeing your update reminded me to just have fun. And okay this is going to sound bad but I swear I mean this as a compliment; I thought I was wasting my time working for months and years on the stuff I made, but then I realized your fic series brings me so much joy and I'd never, ever judge you for the amount of effort you put into your writing. Seeing it's actually inspiring, to see that someone holds that much passion and creativity and you are sharing it all for FREE. That a person could take all this time to intricately weave together a story, create memorable OCs, breathe new life and make the ATLA world so much bigger than it ever was in canon.

So thanks for accidentally giving me a kick in the butt to stop being judgy about my own work and making me realize you and every fan creator is AWESOME.

my reading of lifesteal season 4 is so personal and involved at this point that even if i was going to post more character analysis i would not know where to start. it would require footnotes to documents that don't exist. listen to luddites and lambs by everything everything and you'll get half of it though

#m #lifesteal #there is just such a compelling and clear thematic line between like. okay #first you need to just accept for me the idea that zam as a character is defined by being trapped running both towards and away from #the same object (mapicc) #and then you have to take mapicc as interchangeable with pain in general but specifically an inescapable normalcy of pain #which is caught up in something zam wants and knows he wants which is the “pure/natural” idyllic version of lifesteal #where every fight is fair competition #and what mapicc has done to hurt him more than the actual stalking and murder and all of that is that mapicc refused to fight him on even #ground (by literally invading and destroying his home so that everything becomes battlefield) in a way that offends his most deeply #held values. AND THEN he reads vitalasy's use of the exploits as trying to take that same thing he fundamentally values about lifesteal #away and he gets incredibly angry with vitalasy for hurting the server itself (pvp becomes functionally obsolete for a while there) #so he plays out the eclipse betrayal framing it in his own mind as another situation where he is the victim and vitalasy is the #manipulator/aggressor and falls back into the kind of jumpy paranoid behavior we as the viewer haven't actually seen from him in a very #long time now (late into eclipse when mapicc isn't an active threat anymore he really does stop jumping at shadows the way he used to) #and seems comforted by the familiarity of it if anything. because what vitalasy was asking of him that made him panic and reject it so #badly was to create a new pattern and step out onto unknown ground but he can't do it #and he retreats back to what he knows. so vitalasy isn't WRONG to read what zam does as victimizing himself #and forcing vitalasy into a villain role that is literally what he is doing #but vitalasy on the other end still has his own entire set of things he is not dealing with #and so the relationship created by these two people is doomed by their inability to look themselves in the eye more than any of the actual #facts of the relationship itself #and the thing zam wants lifesteal to be is not and has never been real. the thing vitalasy wants lifesteal to be is also antithetical to #its nature they are both wrong #but zam is wrong in that he wants to return to an idealized imagined past that does not actually exist #(see also vague historical allusions in his castle and his name and him trying after vi's death to cast off violence completely and return #to the land somehow. and the association created incidentally between stone tools and rudimentary technology) #and vitalasy is wrong in that he's trying to create something entirely new that nobody but him actually wants via the exploit #(see the way that once the exploit is 'out of the box' it can't be put back in and the course of the season is set in motion and any attemp #s to fight it and change that course are futile as allegorical to sudden technological advancement being met with violent opposition)

I guess I kind of have a dumb question, where do you find the images you use for your edits? Did you say Getty in your tags?? I’ve gotten into making icons recently (and i have ideas for poetry edits hrrrghhh) but it’s hard to find high res images. Thanks for your time and I hope you have a nice day :)

first of all thank you so much 🥹 and second that’s absolutely not a dumb question!! i do pull a lot of images from getty and i’ll also download pictures from sports articles (i got a lot of the hugheses pictures from online access articles, for example), or sometimes from instagram/facebook/twitter if an account is public. freely admitting that i am not technologically advanced? inclined? in the slightest here, but the image editing software that you use and how you import/export photos with it makes a difference in the quality of them as well!

if you haven’t seen them yet, i would also recommend checking out @simmyfrobby @national-hockey-lesbian @hauntedppgpaints @tapedsleeves @starscelly and @captainbradmarchand’s blogs just off the top of my head!!! they might know more places to get high res images and also i love their work 💕🫶

YOU ARE SO RIGHT because namtan deliberately didn't show what she's wearing at the aiport but still showed night and day's outfit suggesting she's there and she matters in that scene but it would be a spoiler. Maybe after seeing mork getting involved with day and how day is night's brother she would've thought her one sided feelings for night is never gonna work out so she decided to step out of their lives by choice. And taking the very possible theory of porjai been the one to introduce the cartaker job to mork everything connects ! And like you said night then realises he share the same feelings with porjai and CHASE AFTER TO THE AIRPORT OFC THIS IS HOW IT'S GONNA BE THE DOTS HAVE BEEN CONNECTED

we always found weird that mork, who as far as we know has no qualifications whatsoever, ended up being day's caretaker, but if night and phorjai know each other then everything starts falling into place: night talked to phorjai about what happened to day and needing to find someone to help take care of him, so phorjai brought it up to mork; night probably wasn't too happy about it but still arranged an interview with mork as a personal favor to her, thinking that day was never going to pick him anyway, but then day surprised everyone by actually choosing mork

this would also explain why phorjai always looks incredibly displeased whenever we see her with morkday

because yes, she was the one responsible for getting mork the job, but it was never supposed to be something more. maybe she had a fling with night in the past but they never got serious because she knows she isn't the kind of woman he can marry (CLASSISM SUCKS), so she looks at mork (which at this point im pretty sure is her brother) being the happiest he's ever been whenever he's with day and she is both worried and jealous: worried because she knows things can't work out between them and mork is gonna end up heartbroken just like her; jealous because she can see that things between them are actually different, that as much as she tries to tell herself otherwise day loves mork as much as mork loves him and he's ready to fight to be together with mork

so she gives them her blessing, happy that her brother's story had a different ending than hers, but she needs to find a way to move on from her own feelings for night so she decides to leave, EXCEPT AFTER SEEING MORKDAY TOGETHER NIGHT SAYS FUCK CLASSISM AND DECIDES TO GO AFTER THE WOMAN HE ACTUALLY LOVES.
