Brandis Destane, my twst Mozenrath from the Aladdin TV series.
I typically write him as an antagonistic character within NRC, the embodiment of the "opportunistic and sneaky" students that Crowley frequently complains about.
He hails from a further corner of the Scalding Sands, and I just wanted to draw him in the silk robes from the event XD

Have you ever seen the owl house? If so, what are your thoughts on it?
I have watched Owl House and I plan to make a review, but I need to rewatch it at least one more time to gather my thoughts
The Owl House is insanely popular, but I was really disappointed with it, especially season 1. And people are not gonna take kindly to that opinion, so I will probably get a lot of angry comments for it so I've just kinda avoided talking about it. Luz and the show act like Eda is a super powerful witch who is Luz's personal teacher who is gonna show her all the secrets of the witchworld, when that couldn't be further from the truth. Eda is like a parent who tells you you're going on a hike with no supplies, she drops you off in the middle of the woods by yourself and gives you like, a stick, and tells you "good luck!" and runs away. Eda is just the weird lady who lets Luz crash at her house.
It's misadvertised, it has tone issues, it has confusing and straight-up unexplained lore issues... and it fell victim to the SU curse of not knowing what they are doing in season 1, just kinda screwing around introducing random concepts Then they finally get their footing in season 2 or 3 only to get cancelled for being gay. Which sucks, like REALLY REALLY SUCKS, because it's the Network producer's homophobic fault for it being rushed, but its also the fault of the creator of the initial debut for the misuse of screen time on characters or plot that has no stake in the rest of the series.
Most of season 1 is just the formula of "our main characters going to school, screwing up and having to fix their mistake for each episode." And then season 2 is like "Oh right, we're a series with an overarching plot, I forgot- whoops! We're out of time, sorry :/ "

I uploaded a verry similar version of this a couple days ago with a simple caption, but after seeing people's reaction I realized they way I had shortened things to be quick and snappy distorted what I was trying to say. I’m so happy that there are people here who want to have that deeper conversation, so here it is:
The medium of animation is sadly seen as only for kids. Because of this most animated shows are either forced into that category or have to be so outrageously and obviously adult as so not to ‘fool’ people. Most animated shows aimed at adults follow similar styles to The Simpsons, Family Guy, and South Park with an episodic story instead of one with a centralized plot. While these shows are well loved, it can be aggravating when they are all people think of when they imagine animation that’s not specifically made for kids.
Even animated shows aimed at younger audiences suffer from the societal opinions of animation. The creators of the Owl House, Gravity Falls, and Amphibia have talked about how they were censored by Disney, likely because of this perception. The removal of more heavy topics from these shows on pushes the stigma furthers. Viewers of these shows show are often also looked down upon for only watching ‘kids shows’ this is what my original post was getting at.
Some animated shows, such as Arcane, have been able to be both for older audiences, and have an overarching plot and goal. I can’t wait for a day when animation is simply seen as a medium for a story instead of defining it.

Meet my OC Romilda. This warlock came to the Seven deserts several years ago. She was looking for ancient books on black magic and an artifact - the Oracle. Romilda didn’t find the artifact, but she found... a husband for herself. As luck would have it, she fell in love with a man who was opposite to her in character and status. Now the warlock lives on the estate with a modest, reserved and shy man named Jonah...

don't mind me i just heard that there is gonna be a live-action httyd remake.
*shaking dean deblois and also everyone who works at disney and universal* STOP. STOP IT. STOP TRYING TO MAKE PERFECTLY GOOD ANIMATED THINGS INTO LIVE ACTION. it never makes it better. it almost always makes it ACTIVELY worse. have you ever heard anyone say that the live action of any disney movie was better than the animation??
"One of the creative challenges facing the filmmakers is trying to find the balance of making the dragons appealing and friendly... and realistic." (source) I have a solution. don't. you made them perfectly appealing friendly and consistent with the rest of the visuals once already.
say it with me kids: live 👏 action 👏 is 👏 not 👏 automatically 👏 the 👏 best 👏 form 👏 of 👏 media 👏

Tumblr media
I absolutely love each episode but one of my favorites are episodes 3 and 4!
The normalization of periods, the fact that there was a all genders bathroom in that school shown in episode 3, And even in episode 4, lgbtq characters! Wooo! A win for us today!
Episodes 5 and 6 are a 2-parter, and it’s very well done! Episodes 1 and 2 are also great! I absolutely love the animation and this is impressive considering this is the first Television series for Walt Disney Animation Studios!
Again if you haven’t, the show is on Disney + with its first 6 episodes to watch!
