Big City Greens Plants Season 4 Premiere For September 23 on Disney Channel + Guest Cast List
Bingo Bango! Disney Branded Television has set primetime premieres for Big City Greens Season 4 slated to debut Saturday September 23 at 8:00PM EST only on Disney Channel and streaming October 25 only on Disney+.
The episodes airing on September 23 – 'Truck Stopped / Jingled' – have "Tilly and Cricket wrestle with indecision at a truck stop between Big City and the country" in the former, while the latter sees Tilly becoming a Big City jingle writer and rising through the ranks. In addition to premiering on Disney Channel, episodes will also be added to Disney Plus on October 25, 2023.
Guest Stars on Season 4 include musican Michael Bolton as Rick Razzle on Jingled where Tilly wants to become a Big City jingle writer and rising through the ranks. Other guest stars for Season Four include June Diane Raphael (Marvel "Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur"), Tom Green ("The Tom Green Show"),NHL player Brad Marchand,Margo Martindale (Sony Pictures "Cocaine Bear"),podcaster Justin McElroy, Tim Meadows (ABC Network "The Goldbergs"), Dean Norris (AMC "Breaking Bad", "Better Call Saul"), Comedian Ms. Pat, Amy Seradis (Netflix "Bojack Horseman", Lucasfilm "The Mandalorian") and comedian Trevor Wallace.
Since it's debut on 2018, Big City Greens has been one of Disney Television Animation recent hits with multiple shorts, a NHL game -themed broadcast special in collaboration with ESPN and a animated feature film based on the series is on production slated for a 2024 release, the series spawned a new legacy of Disney TVA creators like Natasha Kline with chicano lead-driven animated comedy series "Primos" slated for 2024 and more animated shows on development for Disney Channel by Big City Greens Alumnis. (Cheyenne Curtis,Monica Ray, Amy Hudkins,Raj Bruggemann and Houghton Brothers mentor C.H Greenblatt) who will be getting series orders in the coming months.
The new season will include the show's 100th episode, which is a major landmark for any animated series, but especially for a Disney Channel series with few ever making it quite that far. "Season four is pure insanity," says Chris Houghton, Big City Greens co-creator and executive producer. "Tilly becomes a commercial jingle-writer, Cricket tries stand-up comedy, Bill loses his mind like six times, and Gramma dabbles in minimalism. The fact that we have such a fun arena to play in when it comes to these characters is not lost on us or our crew. Even though we’ve told so many stories with these characters, this season feels fresher than ever." "There are some very funny and silly episodes in this season," adds Shane, "like 'Handshaken' where country folks act like western gunslingers, but assert their power through firm handshakes. There are also a few emotional episodes that reach out and give your heart a good squeeze – 'Family Tree' is one that makes me tear up every time I watch a cut of it. And biggest of all, Chip Whistler is back! This season may have more action, adventure, and thrills than any previous season! And here's a couple rapid-fire teases you’ll see in season four: Gloria hires a new café employee, Vasquez goes to therapy, and the kids meet a long lost family member."
Additionaly Big City Greens will continue with new shorts trought the Disney TVA multi-platform division trought Chibi Tiny Tales, Broken Karaoke,Theme Song Takeover, How NOT To Draw & Random Rings.
Big City Greens characters will continue to host on the Disney Television Animation's crossover compilation series "Chibiverse" as it's second season is slated to debut Saturday September 23.

What happened to Korean animation???
I can not stress this enough, but what is it with the Korean animation on most Burbank-made cartoons produced after 2015 looking so… slow and stiff???
There're LOTS more on 2s animation timing... and less inbetweening, while characters, props and effects are not as loosely drawn as they used to be before 2016.
Look at this example below of what a modern cartoon looks like when animated in Korea:
Tumblr media
Bernard Williams ain't selling the acting well now; is he?
That episode of Craig of the Creek, "Creature Feature", was made in 2020; it was animated by Rough Draft Korea Co., Ltd. — an animation studio founded by Gregg Vanzo as a cheaper means for quality animation on none other than The Ren & Stimpy Show (Don't believe me? Thad Komorowski will tell you).
He's moving too slow. This shot is all on 2s. His arms move stiffly, and his head bobs up and down just a little bit. It doesn't sell the specific emotions he's expressing as richly as they could... compared to something like classic Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon shows of the past. The overseas animators should listen to the audio track, the recorded dialogue. That's what they did on on Ren & Stimpy!
Now let's go back 10 years before Rough Draft animated that episode of Craig of the Creek... to the Sym-Bionic Titan episode "The Phantom Ninja":
Tumblr media
LOOK HOW LOOSE AND SMOOTH THIS LITTLE BIT OF ANIMATION IS!
This level of Korean animation quality was normal for TV cartoons back in the 2010s.
This one shot has a healthy balance of on 2s animation and on 1s animation.
It's just Ilana Lunis and Octus doing a bit of a... I don't know... a shrug... giving Lance a certain look. Not even talking in this shot, nor is it an action sequence, and this little bit of acting looks far better than Craig of the Creek ever animated in general.
Rough Draft also animates on Spongebob and they're struggling but usually excelling on the animation quality overseas.
This applies to cartoons made and aired before 2016 where post-2105 episode/content are the same quality as most post-2015 cartoons shows these days that're animated in Korea; examples are Uncle Grandpa, Samurai Jack Season 5, The Venture Bros. Season 6 onward, We Bare Bears Season 2 onward, and even later Disney TVA shows as Amphibia Season 3 and Hailey's On It!, though mostly it involves Warner Bros. Discovery-owned properties (Turner ones namely).
May be that Korean animators just need a break. The Phillippines can deliver better animation (a bit roughly but still better than Korea for the most part)! Perhaps the Korean overseas facilities need more money... more direction... more communication (as if we could actually afford that with today's gas prices?)
Why not animate domestically here in America? In Burbank? What about rigging (puppetry in 2 dimensions)?
The future of quality TV/non-theatrical 2D animation may be in the hands of Canada's and Ireland's finest riggers. Mercury Filmworks, Boulder Media, Lighthouse Studios, Snipple Animation, and Jam Filled Entertainment can deliver better animation through rigging than Korea can do for most hand-drawn shows!
That is unless it's the Spongebob Squarepants franchise of course... that and Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? and... pretty much anything animated by Yearim or Yeson (most of which are adult cartoon sitcoms with rather restricted animation so as not to distract from their comedic wordplay, since those shows are more script-driven anyway).
I asked some people about the current condition of Korean animation to see what they think about that. Maxwell Atoms had a good bit to say...
The What's in My Head? podcast interview with Randy Myers largely benefited from a question I suggested about the animation quality differences classic Powerpuff Girls and 2016-2019 PPG episodes.
Ariel Vracin-Harrell tweeted that overseas animators often follow the storyboards "religiously", and tiny little micro-poses in storyboards can result in the animation looking "laggy and odd". (Perhaps those Korean animators view the storyboard animatics as key animation?)
Lauren Faust says that you shouldn't animate you storyboards.
I'll expand more on this post later.
Tweet thread version here.

What do you think about these rumors of a new Kim Possible series this summer?
Ah yes, Anon, I have been posting in response to the rumors because that is what they are: rumors. And as it stands as my position, I usually take such KP rumors with MAJOR grains of NaCl (aka salt). And I will not believe anything unless Disney announces something about it (something similar to when Mr. Dan Povenmire announced that there were gonna be two more seasons-aka 40 episodes divided in half- of Phineas and Ferb .) Until that time comes, I will not believe anything from other sites. And if it were going to be announced officially, it would be through Disney TV Animation twitter. But I think, (and this is my opinion) is that there is only a slim chance of that happening because we gotta take into account several things. First off, if there were a reboot/continuation of KP, Disney needs to take into account that there would have to be a new Nana Possible, Timothy North, Jack Hench, Mama Lipsky, and Senor Senior Senior as those VAs of their respective characters (as well as both VAs of Senior) are deceased. Secondly, the timing. The most ample opportunity that Disney had in announcing a KP reboot/continuation would've been at the D23 Expo last September. And it just so happened that both Christy Carlson Romano and Will Friedle were there and it just so happens that they were holding a 20th Anniversary KP panel there (I am hoping to find a video on Youtube). So the opportunity was there for them to announce something, because if such a reboot/continuation would've been announced at the D23 Expo, the media would've been all over it. But when the expo ended, KP fans got nothing, nathan, nada . Thirdly, CCR herself is quite busy with raising a family plus she is doing three podcasts (her Vulnerable podcasts that she normally posts on her Youtube channel every Tuesday, her I Hear Voices podcasts with Will that she posts onto Apple and Spotify every Monday and her upcoming Even Stevens podcast that she is doing with the actors that played Beans and Donnie Stevens ) and she is also doing that voice-actor contest with Will for IHeartRadio as well. Fourthly, and lastly, animation is not only expensive but also takes a lot of time to make. (Simply do a Google search on how long and how expensive it is for Fox/Disney to make a single episode of Family Guy or Simpsons.)
I also tend to keep a very close eye on the KP hashtag, especially here on Tumblr and Twitter.
Then again, when I say slim chances of a reboot/continuation, I point to their (albeit brief) appearances so far on Chibiverse (so far, it has only been Kim, Ron, and Rufus) and it was mentioned back in last July from Disney TVA News that there were (maybe are) gonna be Chibi Tiny Tales of KP. So we (may) get future KP content in the form of 70-second shorts.
Whew, that was a long response. But again, thanks for your question, Anon. :)

Also, I assume Dan Siegel only worked on This Duckburg Life cause he works on various shorts made by Disney TVA like Tsum Tsums and Chibi shorts. I also heard there were plans for a Big City Greens podcast similar to TDL that got scrapped according to Chris Houghton for some reason.
My guess is the reasons I pointed out in the review proper: This one likely didn't do the numbers Disney wanted or cost too much given they had to pay a LOT of voice actors. While BCG would have less as while having a decent supporting cast net it's cast isn't AS massive, it still would cost a bit for no clear return, so it was easier to just scrap it. I"m not remotely suprised they had another series lined up for this, but they were likely testeing to see if to do more and enterted a market they simply didn't know how to use properly. Which admitely is better than the usual enterting a market they know damn well how to use and refusing to anyway because Disney Logic, a term the wonderful @jess-the-vampire came up with last night that I intend to use a lot.

Hannah Ayoubi To Ink Overall Development Deal With Disney Television Animation
The Big City Greens and Harvey Beaks alumni tree at Disney Television Animation keeps growing and it seems that probably Hannah Ayoubi will be the next alumni on pitching their own show for development at Disney Television Animation.
Recently Ayoubi had a interview with the Creative Block podcast where they mentioned that they currently have a overall development deal at Disney Television Animation in the process of being fully inked. Under the deal Ayoubi will develop new animated series, films and specials across Disney Channel and Disney+.
If inked Ayoubi will be the lastest Big City Greens alumni in having their own project on development for a potential Disney Channel animated series alongside Cheyenne Curtis, Monica Ray, Amy Hudkins, Raj Brueggemann and mentor C.H Greenblatt which if greenlight would join Natasha Kline with chicano-lead animated comedy "Primos" in being the next generation of storytellers at Disney TVA for Disney Channel.
youtube
Hannah Ayoubi career started on C.H Greenblatt's Harvey Beaks which kickstarted their career, Ayoubi landed roles at Disney with Big City Greens and Amphibia, which later would be a writter and storyboard artist for Warner Bros Animation "Jellystone!" and Cartoon Network Studios "The Fungies", Ayoubi also worked as director for the axed "Boons And Curses" series at Netflix Animation, Ayoubi currently works as Director on the upcoming Disney Channel animated comedy "StuGo" slated for 2025
Ayoubi also had a pilot of their own for Nickelodeon Animation Studios named "Monster Abroad" sadly the pilot was passed and currently Nickelodeon holds the rights to it and despite Disney TVA being interested on it, they don't want to set a buy back with Paramount and Viacom.
Hannah Ayoubi joins these talented 32 Animators and Artists on inking a overall development deal with Disney TVA to create the next animated storytelling stories for Disney Channel, Disney Junior & Disney+ with new shows, films and specials.

Why Disney TVA cartoon twt ignores Big City Greens?
They don't hate it, they liked it but they are not interested to discuss it as big like Amphibia, The Ghost And Molly McGee & The Owl House fandoms and since the majority prefer to discuss those shows due their lore and sometimes ships (BTW they already had their eyes on Moon Girl And Devil Dinosaur after the preview was leaked), they prefer to ignore the slice of life show, beacuse BCG does not have lore or shipping characters to lure.
But the majority said that they liked it tho for example Rebecca Rose wasn't a big fan of BCG on TOH S1B days but she gave the show a chance and she liked it and praised the season 2 finale.
But there's a small part like a grain of dirt of very small who see it as a enemy that will kill future Disney cartoons with ""Lore"" like Teen Titans GO during the run of Steven Universe But it dosn't matter, BCG's sucess already proved that episodic comedies need be priority at Disney Channel as seen by it's upcoming lineup (minus Moon Girl since it's Marvel and that willl have lore), who is mostly a mix between Big City Greens & Phineas And Ferb.

-Hamster And Gretel
-Kiff
-Primos
-Hailey's On It!
-Monica Ray's Pitch
-That rumored Disney show by C.H Greenblatt. (This one is debatable since Greenblatt mentioned on the Creative Bloc podcast that Jellystone S2 hasn't been greenlight, and the majority of the S1 staff moved to gigs at Disney on unnanounced projects or Big City Greens)
