Can we say that Bandai owes us a digimon game where we are our like a brand of digi destined.
Like come on.
I WILL rant about this again! Over and over again.
Digimon surviver so far is decent for me, love the art style and aesthetic about it and digimon cyberseluth is perhaps on my top ten favorite games of all time, fun with battles and characters.
I feel like these two have themes of childhood and coming of age sorta but never fully commit to it. Which I feel like is a missed opportunity. Digimon anime fans love it because of the feeling of coming of age and growing with these characters.
My ideal game would us playing as a digi destined, wether we go to the digital world or a digimon in the real world. We then look for other digi destined and gain trust between them with similar options like surviver and a similar battle style like cyber sleuth.
I think it would have a different elements to it to distinguish it from the anime, alternate universe you can say so it can kinda parallel to the anime but not be the same things. With the chance to develop a relationship with your other friends, their is a chance to implement fusions with your Digimon like tamers and even fusions with other digimon like 02. I want a game that is the ultimate love letter to old fans and a fun story to new fans 😭
Okay, here's what troubles me about Digimon 2020 vs the original.
It's much more violent: maybe some people saw the slower nature of the original as a flaw? Anyway, the 2020 series goes from battle to battle relentlessly; there's no time for the character development or gentle humour of the first.
The Digimon are mostly mute: with the exception of a few (like Leomon), the other Digimon no longer speak. This, I think, ties in with the above point, these kids are no longer battling black gears which are controlling fully sentient creatures, they are now fighting and killing entirely mute creatures who have no motivation other than they're evil? Yes, miasma, but they don't battle and then the miasma is gone. They kill the Digimon and the miasma stays. And you lose a lot of good characters like this! Ogremon and Leomon's friendship/rivalry, the Tamamon and their crush on Mimi, etc
The crests: the original kids had to find and earn their crests, experiencing doubt and fear that they would be able to live up to the meaning of each: Yamato's uncertainty that he could be a good friend, Sora's that she was unworthy of the crest of love. In this version, we don't even find out what the crests symbolise
The separation of the gang: so far, the gang have been split up, into the "cool" boys and the rest. Yamato and Tai go off to fight together (and Tai is much more obviously the Main Character), while the girls and "uncool" boys are shoved to one side fighting a (frankly tedious) battle where they don't even get to spend time with their Digimon
The lack of mystery: 90% battles, not enough wandering around saying 'wtf is going on??'
Lack of concern for actual problems: why aren't they constantly hungry? Why aren't they always talking about beds and baths and cooked food and a roof over their heads?
Digmon Adventure 2020 finally came out with an English dub. I’m 3 episodes deep, and man
I was sitting here thinking “They really just made the Digimon Movie for the fourth time without Mamoru Hosoda, didn’t they?”
But then I remembered that Belle came out AFTER the series originally started, so this is the THIRD time the Digimon movie happened, while Bell is the fourth time.
(But it was still Hosoda’s third time making it so my meme is still accurate, you hear me??)
Either way though, that’s rude to my dude, give him some credit, will you??
How I Think Toei Is Gonna Bring Back Digimon Tamers
Upon the discover of the new movie of 02 movie, and the maybe idea of a maybe new 02 reboot, I have an idea of how Toei maybe able to introduce a contribution for tamers.
I said ‘Continuation’ instead of ‘Reboot’ because it makes the most sense as tamers ended with a bittersweet ending that hinted on being able to continue compare to the previous two seasons with pretty closed ended endings. This is just personally though, I rather have a continuation than reboot lol
ANYWAYS-
In the tamer’s verse, Digimon is a franchise that the kids in it adore. With that being said, would it not be cool that when the new 2020 Digimon reboot comes to an end of its closing it just shows an aged up Takato watching it and his mom turning off the tv and yelling at him to go to school and that that he is gonna be late and his friends are waiting for him. Starting off part 2 for tamers!
This. would. be. amazing. well for me anyways. I would cry.
a lot.
But considering the time period and ages, Takato at youngest would be around 25 or 30s at latest of 2020-22? So it would be interesting instead to see a next generation situation perhaps? 👀
Idk all of it seems unlikely but just picturing it giggly, having 02 reboot is making me happy but a tamers? I would cry in happiness cause its my personal favorite ToT
Edit: Sorry I actually thought they were gonna make a 02 reboot lol, changed it for accuracy
