Chapter 77 / Chapter 414

They trust each other so much, I can't with them. I want what they have.

Literally the first thing I thought when I saw Giratina's appearance cutscene in PLA was this scene. The vibes are pretty much the same at this point, with the demon-esque look and all.

I want to know so much more of her.

So much stuff gets explained in this chapter. Sird followed Giovanni because she knew he knew where to find Deoxys. Plus, she seeded the evil in other villains through the years. I love how this was actually mentioned in the end of the Emerald arc. I don't know when that chapter came out, but if it was before this, it was a huge foreshadowing.

I'm gonna say it here and now, FRLG is amazing, and better than the original two arcs RGB and Yellow.

I think this was the biggest reveal the manga could have done. I don't think by the end of FRLG Darkrai, or DP in general, had been released yet, so I guess at the time they already had the intention to use a "random powerful Pokémon" to justify this, and Darkrai was perfect for the role.

I have to wonder what's the power that is able to control a whole group of people to make all the same movements in sync, though. And how did she manage to free the one grunt from the control so easily.

I was about to say that nothing would have changed if he wasn't there, but then I remembered that Riley was at the Hoenn Battle Frontier by the end of the Emerald arc. I guess it's a small connection between them.

Actually, it's kinda sad we didn't see a full battle between them, but considering the two chapters remaining, it was all a question of time and timing.

And there it is. The Distortion World is finally open, without Dialga and Palkia's control. And now it's full on Platinum arc.

Volcanion vs Heatran

The Legendary Beasts, Legendary Dogs, Solgaleo, and the Swords of Justice all playing fetch with a stick. Especially if it turn into some sort of mutated football game where they set up goals and teams and everything.

All the Regis just vibing together until someone starts building buildings at which point they all start hovering cause they wanna help

Type:Null/Silvally meeting Arceus

Ho Oh meeting Xerneas as both have powers related to life'/giving life

Ho Oh vs the Forces of Nature as one of Ho Oh's titles is Storms End

Legendary Birds (Both Regions!) meeting each other

Lugia is said to cause 40 day long storms so the Forces of Nature being very [eye emoji] about it

ok ok i think that like... YEAH this is getting back into my desire to have all the god-type legendaries be interconnected, BUT, i think

-celebi is actually an emissary of dialga/palkia, which is why it can freely travel space and time. it just keeps an eye on things while the bosses are off in their extradimensional spaces or whatever

-the guardian deities/tapus all have the same like, egg container designs? and they're all guardians of specific islands, and they have that dark charcoal-black coloration, so i think they're actually formed from cooled magma. possibly groudon's fallen scales?

-cosmog being like... eddies of extraplanar space that developed a concentration of divine energy and then their own consciousness. and then grow into solgaleo/lunala as they get even More power

anyway YEAH. also ho-oh and xerneas also share the relation of refracting light into a rainbow which is symbolic of their power!

also type: null, genesect and mewtwo?? experiment legendary buddies

meloetta, magearna, diancie, marshadow... put them in a playpen together they're just little guys

Ok so I like a few of the new forms! I was going to take Oshawott as my starter cause frankly I don't like any of the starter selection to begin with but I'm taking Cyndaquil now cause holy shit the new Typhlosion is a cutie pie.

SNAIL GOODRA MY BELOVED???? I'm going to shiny hunt em so I have one normal and one shiny, then name them after my snails. I cherish them.

Arcanine is...underwhelming. after all the hype of Growlithe and some fantastic fan predictions it feels it could have had more work done. I also find some of the other forms a little lackluster but that one just makes me sad.

Idk what the fuck is up woth the new weather pokemon is. What weather is that supposed to be? Lovecore? Idk i like the descriptions of it being gay and homophobic /hj

I don't like the new Dialga Palkia forms at all. I like the concept, but they look half finished?

I'm intrigued to hear the possibility of a PMD "you die, you lose all your items" mechanic. It sounds like the game will have a decent amount of challenge and risk vs reward strategy. Graphics look great, I'm enjoying spotting ancestors, and while Gen 5 isn't my fave I'm curious why a certain subway guy is in the past as well (or why time travel is being used at all.) I was talking theories with a friend on how maybe this is a precursor/explanation for future choices for when gen 5 remakes are on the table.

Overall I feel the pros outweigh the cons for me. I wish the aron line was in the game and I'm disappointed that Darkrai will be DLC rather than in game or even an event. I'll probs get the base game but if DLC isn't crazy expensive then maybe I'll get those too (I'm not paying full game price for DLC tho, I'll just trade the mons I want and watch gameplay on YouTube at that point)

Some sprites from the recently leaked Pokemon Diamond Prototype Beta.

The date of this prototype build is:

June 30th, 2006.

Both Pokemon Diamond and Pearl released in Japan on September 28th, 2006. This prototype of Diamond was just a few months away from its eventual release.

Their low quality is normal. This is a prototype, after all.

Dialga, prototype and final.

Palkia, prototype and final. The biggest change here besides upscaled detail is the shape of the wings.

"Kimairan". This scrapped legendary Pokemon is in Giratina's place. It does have six legs, so it was probably replaced.

Darkrai. The red thing does look a little familiar...

The logo for the Japanese release of the 10th Pokemon Movie (The Rise of Darkrai) in Japan, called "Dialga VS Palkia VS Darkrai".

The "S" is the only public "release" of this Prototype Darkrai's design.

It's eye color was also changed from a sea-green color to the current blue just a few months before final release.

I don’t know if you were thinking personality-related hcs or anything, but I do have a lot of lore stuff I made up for a diamond nuzlocke I’m writing,,,

I put a lot of emphasis on dialga and palkia’s gems because it’s important to a lotta worldbuilding! My take is that Arceus created Giratina first, who then rebelled and was put in the distortion world. When Arceus made Dialga n Palkia next, they gave em failsafes that Giratina lacked — the diamond and pearls. The actual power over time/space comes from those gems, so that if they tried to usurp Arceus, the gems could be shattered and they’d be powerless as any other Pokemon (partly based off the rise of darkrai with palkia’s cracked pearl!! Since space was affected much more drastically than time by the 2 fighting, it made sense to me)

I also really love physics so I (poorly) worked some of that into my worldbuilding, especially re: antimatter. Dialga and Palkia can’t actually visit Giratina, or vice verse, bc the matter and antimatter would annihilate in an incredible explosion. So giratina’s been sealed off in the distortion world since before time began, and can only interact with the matter world through their altered (regular matter) form. But even then, it’s only when the divide between dimensions is weak, like on the spear pillar or in turnback

I’ve got more lore about the creation story that ties into the formation of fundamental forces after the Big Bang, but I’d have to go reference my notes to remember how it all sorted out

I meant HCs just in general! And I love all of these!

I haven't really heard any HCs about Dialga/Palkia and Giratina straight-up not being able to visit eachother, but it's a totally valid HC given the whole matter vs antimatter thing.
