Wreaking havoc once again across the globe, Omicron has emerged as a new concern. In such a situation, the question is whether the cover shield and vaccine are as effective against this new variant of Corona as they were against the delta variant. The new study shows that both doses of Covishield are not effective against Omicron. Earlier, the same report had come to the fore regarding Covaccine.

Overall, Omicron and its sub-variants can still make you very sick after taking both doses of both vaccines. In such a situation, a booster dose has been advised to avoid them. Experts at ICMR have also agreed that those who have reached the schedule for both Covishield and Covaccine doses should take a booster dose.

Inadequate Coveshield. In a study conducted against Omicron against The Covishield vaccine has shown that the effect of Omicron is visible in a person even after taking both doses of this vaccine. Not only this, the new variant of Omicron BA.1 is affecting the body’s antibodies. But yes, antibodies can be effective against this variant to a large extent if a booster dose is taken.

ICMR also accepted An ICMR scientist said that Omicron with the highest number of mutations in Spike affected immunity even after both doses of the vaccine. Omicron’s spike is more powerful than the Delta variant. However, studies in people who have taken the CoveShield vaccination show that it has stronger antibodies to fight the virus, but its effect has diminished after the Omicron version.

ICMR collected samples of 24 corona-infected persons 180 days after the second dose of Covishield. At the same time, samples of 17 people who did not have corona were also taken and they had taken both doses of Covishield. Omicron infection was found in these people even after taking two doses of Covishield.

What was the result Serum samples of people were taken 14-30 days after corona infection. The complete genome could be obtained in only 21 cases out of 46 successful cases. Corona’s delta variant was confirmed in 17 people. While the Kappa variant of Corona was found in four.

The researchers later assessed the potency of these serum samples against BA.1, delta, beta, and Omicron variants. The results of which were astonishing. The samples showed that the antibody neutralized the BA.1, beta, and delta variants more effectively than Omicron. Compared to Omicron, the serum antibody concentration was found to be the lowest at 0.11. Whereas in other cases its average was 11.28 and 26.25.

It is worth noting that in November last year, the first case of the Omicron variant in the world was reported in South Africa.

My first blog : a bit of history of a big challenge I was presented 18 months ago to define who I am today : Christopher J Bonelli 2.0

I came down with a very serious case of COVID-19 Delta Variant. I was placed in a medically induced coma for 55 days FROM July – Sept 2021, in the ICU. I had to be intubated and put on a ventilator, and eventually they had to do a tracheotomy, because they couldn't extubate me otherwise. While there they did a number of surgeries on me, on top of the tracheotomy, included a feeding tube, three chest tubes and multiple central lines.

On the 55th day I woke up with tubes coming out of all parts of my body. I was there for another week and a half, after being released from the ICU. When I was discharged, couldn’t walk or talk, and quickly realized the enormous feat I would have in front of me in order to recover. I had to learn how to walk, talk, eat, breath, and perform daily activities of living, all over again. I’m still on the big oxygen machine and my lung capacity is on 53% , doctors say I should make a recovery between 16-24 months. It currently has been 15 months since being discharged.

I’ve been a loyal tenant for three years now and this is the first time I am late on rent due to a financial hardship from getting sick and having over a year of rehabilitation? This complex has tried to evict due to a few weeks late on rent smh . Why Should I need to be penalized, the government did not help with ANY COVID RELIEF PROGRAMS …the state of FLORIDA did not find me temporary disabled granting me with SSDI although I met all the criteria. ERAP and SNAP declined me probably because my taxes showed I was making more than the threshold but what was I supposed to the in the following months with a 14 month no work order should help because I was making 6 figures and I will again when im fully healthy.

The leasing office knew everything that was going on and put me into another apartment 1406 at the same address 405 ne 2nd st apt 1406 fort Lauderdale fl 33301. There was no exchange a move in fee they handed me a key and I signed a lease. During the move I passed out twice and had to be hospitalized again because my lungs arent capable of that much endurance yet. So I have received an eviction notice and 3day notice to vacate on my door. I’m trying to keep a positive mindset that I will get better soon but I was the only survivor with delta variant from imperial hospital and have not received any funding from government. Im at the point where I need assistance from the government . I really need help.

Im constantly getting my organs checked and my immune system is at the lowest. I lost everything in a snap of a figure but instead of sitting there an sulking I’ve been pushing myself to be strong and get passed this I went in the hospital at 195lbs came out at 120, I’m finally putting the weight back on, but there seems to be an obstacle in my way every time. I have major PTSD, Major Depression and anxiety disorder all diagnosed by a psychiatrist as well as permanent fibrosis in both my lungs. I went into AFIB 3 times as well. I’m only 32 and it’s a mission for me to bend over and put the dishes away or to walk just one block, I was a bodybuilder before my life was turned upside down.

It’s been 17 months and I have made a 90% recovery I believe it’s time Now its time for me to get back on my feet and others in need of my support and share my story to help overcome obstacles such as mine.

03 May 3309 Eta Sagittarii I’ve spent the past few days hopping around nearby systems, collecting plants and rocks with funny shapes. I have to say, exiting hyperspace right in front of a giant star always makes a bit of an impression. I landed on a very hot planet, AB2, and then went to take a look at the view from the dusty and rocky rings around planet AB5. The giant star was shining through the dust, which was a lovely sight. I realised that the tiny spot I could see in front of η Sagittarii A was actually... another star. A brown dwarf, which barely looked bigger than a planet. In fact, it’s only about 4 times bigger than the largest planet in this system. Picked up an occupied escape pod and a black box, which I found floating in space next to the 3rd star in this system, and dropped them at the nearest station.

Rukbat After a visit in Kaus Australis (also known as Epsilon Sagittarii), I found myself in Rukbat (Alpha Sagittarii), where a message flashed on my HUD, informing me that I was visiting a system with a neutron star for the first time. I might need to get some maintenance done on my systems, because I know I visited Jackson’s Lighthouse months ago with CMDR Curious Sparrow.

Zeta Coronae Austrinae After Delta Coronae Austrinae, another giant star, I am now in Zeta Coronae Austrinae, which marks a deviation from my exploration of the Sagittarius constellation, as I am now in the Corona Australis constellation. And I just realised, as I was looking at my galmap and wondering why there were no traces of human population, that I have accidentally.. left the Bubble. Well, only kind of, because civilisation is not far, but still. Oops.

04 May 3309 HIP 95726 There was fungoida on this planet and it was only growing on the dark side, at the bottom of a canyon. Everything was pitch black. I kept hearing weird sounds, and couldn’t tell if it was just the wind, or if maybe something was lurking in the dark, waiting for me to fall into a trap... Then my instruments started malfunctioning, the altitude readings were all wrong, and my suit HUD glitched out. I finished picking up my samples and left without any further considerations. I’m not sure what was there. I’m not sure I want to know, either.

05 May 3309 HIP 93520 After visiting a few systems that had not been previously mapped, I found myself here, in HIP 93520, where it seems more Commanders have been before me. I wonder if they were also awed when they found the ringed Earth-like planet under the blue light of the A-type star.

As I got closer to the rings, I was surprised to find there was a miner there, someone in a Krait Mk2, just minding his own business until a pirate showed up. I wasn’t expecting that, considering we are over 100 light-years away from any human settlements. The pirate sent hatch breakers after the miner, who dropped all of his cargo... and a bunch of proximity mines. He opened fire and seemed to scare the pirate away. (Said pirate did come back to try and scan me before high-waking, disappointed.)

06 May 3309 Col 359 Sector KG-X D1-64, body 6F I think this moon may have once had an ocean, or some sort of liquid water, at least. The average temperature of 166K would no longer allow for that, but who knows, maybe it used to be warmer. I did find several plant samples at what seemed to be the bottom of a dried-up sea. No traces of specifically marine life, even in fossil form, however.

10 May 3309 R CrA Sector MI-S B4-6 The nebula I have chosen as my next destination is getting close, and it is easy to spot it with the naked eye now. I am quite excited, as I have never visited a nebula before! But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. This system was pretty interesting from an exobiological standpoint, I found several variants I had not encountered before, as well as a brand new (to me) genus, Clypeus. A small plant, with what seems to be a reflective, multi-coloured shell.

BrsO 14 I made it the the R CrA nebula! It is so pretty. I exited hyperspace facing a big blue star, then turned the ship around and found myself staring at a red sky. Absolutely mesmerising. Unfortunately, there was no planet for me to land on so I could admire the view from there, but I spent a good while just flying into the red cloud and observing it from all possible angles.

14 May 3309 PSR J1856-3754 I had seen there was a galactic curiosity a few jumps away, so I plotted a route to PSR J1856-3754, nicknamed "Coronet Pulsar". This one does not have one, but two neutron stars, separated by a mere 138 light-seconds. I will admit, I am still very nervous around those stars and I tend to keep my distances, but, maybe one day I will learn to dance with them.

15 May 3309 Col 359 Sector UM-T c4-6 Made a quick stop by the CB-1 Argon’s Reach megaship. It was a little strange seeing human faces again. There were a few other explorers there, we traded stories and routes. Some of them had been in the Black for such a long time and honestly... it showed. Being hundreds and hundreds of light-years away from civilisation does something to you, I’m sure. I did make sure to upload the data and pictures I had recorded to Universal Cartographics, the procedure took longer than I expected, but I also don’t think I had ever tried to upload that much data at once.

53 Nu Serpentis I am now officially back in human territory. I am not quite sure what led me here, but maybe it was just time.

17 May 3309 HIP 84913 Met a pilot named Ariel in a Type-9 Heavy, requesting some commodities. I’ll think about it and see if it’s anything I can find nearby. Which reminds me, I need to work on improving the Python’s FSD, there’s no way I’m going to be hauling any amount of goods in the Cobra’s 4-ton cargo hold. I love my Elmwing, but a trading ship she is not.

Laksak Took a shuttle to Laksak to retrieve the Python. My plan was to fly her back to HIP 84913, but... I am a butterfly with zero attention span... and I found myself doing exobiology sample collection in a Python. She managed alright, but I am very glad that most of the plants I found favoured flatter terrain, because I doubt I could have landed anywhere in the mountains.

18 May 3309 HIP 84913 (again) Finally made it to my destination. Ariel the trader had already left, so I loaded up on limpets and decided to go mining instead. This first mining trip went pretty well overall. Not going to make a fortune until I figure out what to focus on, but it’s nice learning how to fly another ship and doing something else.

Speaking of different ships. I am now also the owner of a little Eagle I’m going to outfit to go canyon running... For now, her name is Birchtwig.

25 May 3309 Deciat I’ve taken both the Python and the Eagle to Felicity so that she could upgrade some of the modules. Birchtwig is now much faster (I outfitted her with enhanced performance thrusters, which Felicity said should be a good choice), and Cedarcone can now jump much farther. This should help reach mining spots and marketplaces a little faster.

Bruth This system was torn by civil war... Several ships tried to interdict me while I was mostly flying from one debris field to another, trying to salvage components, and maybe rescue a person or two. I did salvage some commodities that sold for a decent price in a neighbouring system, so I jumped there, and then also accepted a few surface delivery missions. Nothing complicated. A pilot called Ashley had apparently forgotten his personal documents before going on vacation at a tourist resort called Prieto’s Muse, in Njemari. He seemed relieved when he saw that I had brought them.

26 May 3309 Vard Argon atmospheres can bring such pretty lights. I don’t often land on those bodies because they tend to be found in systems with dim stars, and if they are distant enough, the surface is almost completely dark and I can’t see anything. But this... this was beautiful.

What is public health all about? Public health refers to the science of preventing illnesses, improving health, fostering physical and mental well-being, controlling infectious diseases, and establishing health services for individuals. An awareness of the significance of community action in the promotion of health and the prevention and treatment of diseases has emerged from regular human interactions (Bryant & Rhodes 2022). Protecting the health of entire populations is the main focus of public health. These populations can range in size from a single neighbourhood to a whole nation or continent (CDC Foundation 2022). Speaking of which, we all know about the global pandemic caused by the Corona Virus since January 2020 till today which has mutated into multiple variants like Delta, Alpha, Omicron and more. I still remember when the first MCO was implemented in March 2020 and it was truly a depressing period of time for everyone especially businesses and the economy (I literally spent half of MCO playing Sims 4 and making Dalgona coffee). Also a little rant, my mum made me wash groceries and SCRUB eggs with soap because she was scared the virus attached itself to it or something. Ok, rant over. Anyway, I think everyone is thinking the same thing... when is this ever going to end for good?

Is social media useful in spreading information on Covid-19 in Malaysia?

Let's talk about public health in Malaysia, there's an app that we all know called Mysejahtera. It is basically a contact tracing app developed for the Covid-19 pandemic. It consists of four main features. The app's primary goal is to let users calculate their risk of getting Covid-19. The software requests basic information from users about their symptoms, travel history, and recent contact with confirmed cases. After that, it divides them into risk groups and tells them what to do next. Those under surveillance would have to stay in their homes for 14 days and respond to the survey daily. Contact tracing is the second primary feature of the app. Before entering a building, users scan a QR code, and the system logs their previous 14-day visits. They can add dependents who don't own smartphones to their app so that they can also be accounted for. Only when a patient tests positive does the Ministry of Health release this information. If not, the data is archived after 30 days and deleted after 90. The software assigns unique QR codes that indicate a person's risk level and track where citizens have been. This depends on how many vulnerable individuals they have in their homes and whether they live close to a Covid-19 hotspot. The third feature is when registering for the MySejahtera app, citizens are required to provide comprehensive demographic data, including age, gender, and ethnicity. Future analysis and medical research can use this (Poon 2020). Last but not least, the app allows you to book appointments for vaccination as well as provide a certificate of vaccination after completion. Therefore, I do think that social media is useful in spreading information about Covid-19 in Malaysia mostly because of this app (of course other social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram & Facebook also provide useful information about Covid-19 rates, symptoms etc.). Though nowadays people don’t usually use the app anymore since the pandemic has kinda died down.

What about public mental health?

I'm not sure if you guys have heard of this Instagram account @buthonestly.co but they are a group of individuals based in Malaysia & Singapore who came up with a card game to facilitate conversations for people to open up and talk about their feelings. Their mission states that they wish to encourage vulnerability, and honesty with oneself and others and to discuss hard topics that people find difficult to talk about. I think this is a brilliant idea and thought it would be nice to share with you guys so do go check them out!
