Underlying and reiterating that COVID is not over yet, he requested states to monitor emerging evidences of COVID-19 cases, symptoms and case severity to plan appropriate public health response.
Dr Mandaviya stressed the need for collective efforts between the Centre and the States to deal with the emerging situation in the spirit of “Whole of Government” approach. He directed for strengthening the surveillance system for whole genome sequencing of positive case samples to track the variants through Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG) network to ensure timely detection of newer variants, circulating in the country. This would facilitate undertaking of appropriate public health measures in a timely manner, he noted. States/UTs have been requested to ramp up testing and refer large number of samples of COVID-19 positive cases and pneumonia-like illness to INSACOG Genome Sequencing Laboratories (IGSLs) on a daily basis, for sequencing, to track new variants, if any.
The Union Health Minister urged all the states to remain alert, increase surveillance and ensure adequate stock of medicines, oxygen cylinders and concentrators, ventilators and vaccines, He asked officials to undertake mock drills every three months at both the Central and State levels to assess functionality of PSA plants, Oxygen concentrators and cylinders, ventilators, etc., and encouraged the sharing of best practices. He also urged states to create awareness on respiratory hygiene and ensure dissemination of factually correct information and counter fake news to manage infodemic and mitigate any panic. The Union Health Minister urged States/UTs to share information on cases, tests, positivity etc., in real time on the COVID portal to enable timely monitoring and prompt public health measures. He assured the states of all support from the Centre.
Through a presentation, Shri Sudhansh Pant, Secretary, Union Health Ministry briefed the Union Health Minister on the global COVID19 situation and the domestic scenario. It was informed that while active COVID cases in India are significantly less compared to the global scenario, in the last two weeks there has been a steep rise in active cases from 115 on 6th Dec 2023 to 614 on date. It was also noted that 92.8% of the cases are home isolated, indicating mild illness. No increase in hospitalization rates have been witnessed due to COVID-19, the cases that are hospitalized are due to other medical conditions – COVID-19 is an incidental finding. A rise in daily positivity rate has been observed in a few states like Kerala, Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Karnataka.
On the new JN.1 variant of SARS-CoV-2, it was informed that the variant is currently under intense scientific scrutiny, but not a cause of immediate concern. No clustering of cases has been observed in India due to JN.1 and all the cases were found to be mild and all of them have recovered without any complications.
Dr V K Paul reiterated the need for a whole-of-government approach to tackle with the challenge posed by the surge in COVID cases and the emergence of a new variant. He informed that the scientific community in India is closely investigating the new variant but stressed on the need for states to ramp up testing and strengthen their surveillance systems.
Dr Rajiv Bahl, Secretary, Department of Health Research and DG, ICMR informed that ICMR is currently working on genome sequencing of the new JN.1 variant. He urged states to monitor the COVID-19 scenario and increase RT-PCR tests but noted that there is no cause for panic.
State Health Ministers appreciated the support and guidance received from the Centre. They assured to increase testing and surveillance measures in view of the rising cases in some states.
Smt. L S Changsan, Addl. Secretary, Union Health Ministry; senior officials from the Health Ministry, ICMR, and NCDC were present in the meeting.

2022 - The Second Half!!!
The first half of the year was amazing. In January we shifted to a new place, set up the apartment together, and most important that Shalu and I were spending quality time with one another. We had a few instances where both of us were COVID positive but it was manageable. In April I flew down to Guwahati for a get-together with Rahul, Adi, and Roshan. The trip to Munnar in May was the highlight of them all. It was a romantic trip for us. June came in with multiple good news including my sister having a baby boy and I buying a car for Papa. When I returned from Guwahati, she welcomed me with the most amazing news ever, 'WE WERE PREGNANT'!!! I couldn't thank god enough for blessing me with such a miracle. We celebrated, got her checkup done, and then began the 40 weeks journey of becoming parents. ❤️
The First Trimester (May-June-July)
We got the news on the 22nd of June morning. I was still sleepy and she came up to me with the proof. We hugged each other and thanked god for the beautiful blessing we were showered with. Next few days we were exploring articles and apps for to-be-mothers. We celebrated by going to Timezone and FunCity in Ambience mall on 25th June. On 30th June we went to the airport to see off Faiz and Nagma bhabhi. They were shifting to Germany to begin a new phase of life. They were very happy to hear the news of the baby. July started off with Shanno's birthday celebration. Her friends and our family gathered at Udupi restaurant for dinner. I and Shalu drove on our scooty to the venue. I had to pay very special attention while driving nowadays. Shalini was having her craving period now. She demanded momos and pizza. Momos contain MSG so I avoided it. Watched some YouTube videos and cooked paneer momos at home with wheat flour. They were healthy and tasty as well. In the last week of July, we went to a carnival happening at the Huda ground in sector 29, Gurgaon. My in-laws and their friends from Jasola joined us for the visit. We and the kids enjoyed ourselves a lot.

The Second Trimester (Aug-Sep-Oct)
The first week of August started with yet another trip. Big brother and I went to Nainital to visit several boarding schools best for Subhranshu. We checked out Birla Vidya Niketan and found it very good. In the evening we roamed around the city and visited the Naini lake. Our legs were paining as we walked the school and the markets. After an overnight stay and an adventurous next day, we boarded the train at night for Delhi. From 5th Aug to 8th Aug we celebrated at the office with our colleagues across technology by meeting up and competing in indoor and outdoor games both. Vishal came to stay with us for a few days. Shalini, I, Sonu, and Vishal had a great time together. I got Shalini some silver jewelry to thank her for giving me the good news. Rakshabandhan was celebrated by us with great joy.
It was the 13th of August when we got the news that mom was admitted to Nemcare hospital as she had to take some tests and will be discharged in a couple of days. Things escalated in a couple of days and the news coming in from Guwahati was not good at all. We checked for a good doctor here in Delhi so we can bring mom here for treatment and took a flight to Guwahati with big brother on the 17th Aug evening. We landed and headed straight to the hospital. Looking at mom's condition was really painful. We could not believe she was shifted to ICU and had to be on 24-hour oxygen support on a Bi-PAP machine. Doctors were saying that mom will need to be ventilated but we were not in favor of it as medical facilities in Guwahati are very limited. Finally, we decided to take mom via Train Ambulance to Delhi, a 27-hour-long daunting journey on medical equipment support with a technician who was responsible for the machines and giving medication to her on time. We finally reached Delhi on 23rd Aug and got her admitted to PSRI hospital. She was shifted to ICU and the same night she had to be shifted to the ventilator. I was feeling helpless and shattered while signing the consent form but the carbon content in her body rose to 93% and there was no other way. It was a long night.
For the next 1.5 months, we just waited for her to get better. Everyone came from Guwahati and Di/Jiju also came from Ranchi to check on mother. She was admitted to Neuro-ICU and we had just 15 minutes of meeting time at 12 PM and 6PM. When we used to visit sometimes she was sedated so didn't respond, and other times she asked us to massage her legs since they were paining due to lying on the back for so long. We stayed together in the big brother's house at Jasola since it was closer to the hospital and since father and sister were here. I was unhappy to see Shalini sad and stressed due to the current situation but was helpless. I was asking god, why is he testing us. I imagined I would help Shalini enjoy her pregnancy a lot but things were just not in my control. We celebrated Teej with bhabhi and my sister. Adarsh being there with us was a big joy in that situation. We all loved playing with him and dandle him throughout the day. We celebrated him turning 3 months old on 5th Sep. Most of September I used to travel to the hospital at 11 AM, meet mom for 15 mins and then stay there till 6 PM or go to Jasola for lunch and come back at 6 PM to meet mom again. Looking at her fighting back was amazing. She is the best and the strongest among us. I prayed for her recovery every day. In mid of September, she was tracheostomized, which is an advanced stage of the ventilator. We had to agree with the doctors since there was no option remaining for us. On the other hand, Shalini was having multiple occurrences of vomiting and nausea. I couldn't be of much help but stayed there by her as much as possible. On 30th Sep, we celebrated my birthday at Sonu's place since that day we visited SGMH for some documentation purposes. We celebrated the last day of Navratri at Jasola with the 'kanya bhojan' rasam on 4th October. The doctors said that my mother was better now and that we must shift her to home to avoid the trigger of another infection and slow down the financial stress that we were already facing. Finally, we were able to arrange for the portable ventilator, home ICU setup, and a 24-hour nurse for mom. She was shifted to Gurgaon at our home on the 10th of October. All the arrangements were made for the setup and a round-the-clock nurse was arranged who stayed with us and took care of mom's medicines and daily activities related to a bed-ridden patient. We celebrated Diwali together in Gurgaon and did decorations and Laxmi pooja as well. We were surprised when our sister and Adarsh arrived home to meet mom just after Diwali. It was a very nice moment and everyone was happy.

The Third Trimester (Nov-Dec-Jan)
We celebrated Adarsh's 'annaprassana' on 3rd Nov where he was given food for the first time by Bhaiya bhabhi and us. Sister flew back to Ranchi in the first week of November. We began taking care of mom as now it was just us in the house. Shalini used to visit the hospital daily and I used to pick up and drop her off at the metro station. She had taken up most of the daily chores in the house. She used to prepare her breakfast and lunch in the morning and I just had to prepare the chapatis in the afternoon. Then in the evening, she used to prepare snacks and finally dinner at night. I used to help in between but it was tough to manage between the office, looking after mom, and the daily chores. She has moved in the third trimester now and began experiencing some fatigue. In mid of November, she received a Mom's kit from Reema (our friend) and burst out in tears. It was then I realized that I had not pampered her enough in the last six months. She was a mother and I did not celebrate this enough with her by making her feel special. It was not a good feeling at all. I promised myself that I will try to make her feel better for at least the rest of her pregnancy. I am not sure if I was able to keep up to the promise but I gave my best.
We had to take mom to the doctor every month to get the tracheostomy tube replaced. She had to be put in an ambulance with life support and taken to PSRI hospital where it was done. Once we got a special tube that came with a speaking valve. Using this mom could say a few words at a time. The voice that came out was not the exact one but it was nice to see her speak even a little. She was in recovery mode and doing great but then winter arrived in Delhi NCR. COPD patients always have issues with cold weather. The oxygen requirement went up and walking around the house came to a complete standstill. I arranged for a physiotherapist who would make her do the exercises in the bed itself. This helped keep her limbs and chest muscles in good condition.
At the end of November, we got a piece of very good news that Vishal is getting engaged. It happened on 27th November and we all were part of it. Coincidently, her to-be wife's name was Shalini Sharma and she was a health worker at a Delhi government hospital just like my wife. We tripped multiple times on this thinking that women named "Shalini" are a blessing in our lives and that they change our life for the better.
December started off well and then came our anniversary date. We could not plan anything on that day as we could not leave our parents at home alone. At midnight I gave her the gift I bought for her (iPhone 14). She went crazy after that. The next day in the morning we went to Chattarpur temple for blessings and in the evening her sisters came to Gurgaon and we went to Cafe Aurika in DLF phase 4 for dinner. The rest of December was not noisy. During Christmas time, Sonu prepared a plan to meet up at Connaught Place with us and Vishal and it was just amazing. Really thank Sonu for putting up such a plan.
January was a very good month. A lot of memorable events happened this month. One of those events was Shalini's maternity shoot taken care of by Seema and Anurag on 8th Jan. They did a brilliant job of clicking the pictures with the gorgeous backdrops in Lodhi Garden. I met Rahul at the IGI airport on 13th April since he was traveling from Dubai to India after a vacation with his friends. On 20th Jan, I attended E&IT day in the office and in the evening we all went to Ambience Mall to celebrate Ayush's birthday. On 22nd Jan, Shanno planned Baby Shower on the third floor at our Gurgaon home. I planned the lunch from 'Biriyani Blues'. Also on 28th Jan, Vishal and Shalini got married. I, Sonu, Ankit and Ashish had great fun.
Good news on the way in February. Let's meet in the next blog.

How Many Employees Does Twitter Have?
Apparently, there are no hard statistics on how many employees Twitter has. However, according to Forbes, there are 5,000 people working in India and 4,000 in Brazil. There are also 2,000 employees in the United Kingdom, 2,500 in China, and 7,000 in the United States.
7,000
Almost 7,000 employees work for Twitter. Some of them work in sales. Some of them are in engineering. Others work in data science and machine learning.
There are more than 650 open roles at Twitter. The company plans to cut a quarter of its workforce. The cut could result in thousands of jobs lost.
Twitter has been profitable for two years, but its revenue still lags behind other major social media platforms. It had an estimated 217 million daily active users at the end of last year.
5,000 in the U.S.
Despite rumors of layoffs, Twitter has not yet announced plans to cut workers. However, the company is gearing up for the inevitable.
Last year, Twitter surveyed its workers and tried to cut costs by $1.5 billion. The company has also encouraged nearly 5,000 employees to work from home.
The company has also suspended all non-critical business travel for employees. And it has also made the odd decision to reintroduce the checkmark badge subscription offering, which used to signify verified high-profile accounts.
2,000 in the U.K.
During his first week in charge of Twitter, billionaire Elon Musk has laid off half the company's staff. He said the company is losing over $4 million a day. He has also fired top marketing and legal executives.
The company has previously warned staff that they could receive firing notices. But now employees say the firm is eliminating workers without giving them enough notice.
The layoffs have sparked concerns about Twitter's ability to moderate content. Advertisers have cut spending on Twitter amid concerns that its moderation processes are not up to scratch.
3,000 in India
Hundreds of Twitter employees in India have been laid off. The company has not officially confirmed the number of employees who have been laid off but estimates say it is between 40 and 50 percent of the company's workforce.
A security guard at Twitter's complex in New Delhi told Business Insider that the office had been locked since Thursday afternoon. The company closed all offices and locked access to its badge system on Friday to protect the safety of its data.
2,500 in China
During President Donald Trump's administration, Twitter pushed to halt sales to Chinese government accounts. However, a Reuters review of government tender documents shows that most of the accounts are outsourced to state media.
Twitter's China region is growing faster than any other part of the company. Its overseas ad sales to Chinese clients are estimated to be hundreds of millions of dollars a year. But in the past year, Twitter has cut more than half its employees.
4,000 in India
Earlier this month, Twitter announced a 50 per cent job cut. In recent days, Twitter has laid off 3,800 employees globally, and more are expected to go. In India, the company has laid off over a hundred employees.
The layoffs have affected roughly one third of Twitter's India team. In addition, the company has shut down its Bengaluru office. It has also barred employees from mentioning confidential company information on social media.
4,000 in Brazil
Thousands of people have died in Brazil as the Covid-19 virus has rampaged through the country. The worst outbreak on record has killed over 4,000 people and will soon surpass the worst wave in the United States. This is a major concern for local health experts, who are apprehensive about a possible wave of the Zika virus.
Health experts have hailed the recent decline in cases, but warned that the virus could return if measures are not taken. Some states have reported short supplies of oxygen and sedatives.
5,000 in India
During Elon Musk's time at Twitter, he has been involved in several legal and financial matters. He also fired several top executives. He has also retrenched the company's engineering and partner relations teams. He has also changed the location of the company's headquarters. He recently told prospective investors that he plans to cut at least seventy five per cent of the company's workforce.
While the layoffs are not yet final, they are causing some anxiety among employees. Several Twitter employees are noticing changes in their workspace. The company's employee directory is gone. The company's social media team has been drastically reduced. Some employees have even been forced to leave the country.
5,000 in Brazil
Despite having a history of operating in Brazil, Twitter isn't exactly a household name. The social media behemoth hasn't advertised a single open position in the country. As a result, employees have taken to social media to vent their frustrations.
Twitter isn't alone in this department. The social media giant has laid off over 3,700 employees worldwide. Some of the company's best and brightest have left the company in droves. In India, the company fired more than a third of its marketing staff.

Ambulance Service In Delhi -ASID
Ambulance service in Delhi is one of the best in the country but it was not the same if you compare it with the condition a few years back, especially the pre-pandemic times. Before May 2020 only 136 ambulances were operating in Delhi and this number was far short than required. Among these ambulances, very few were fully equipped. Somehow, the government managed the ambulances until the pandemic came and changed everything. Suddenly the demand for ambulances started rising and the government had no idea what to do as they were not prepared for this kind of situation. The private operators were taking advantage of this situation and were charging a hefty amount to shift patients and the guardians of the patient had no option. But then the Delhi government paid attention to this matter and caps the fee charged by ambulance owners. The data was collected about the availability and demand of ambulances and a proper roadmap was made by the Delhi government to operate the ambulances. These efforts of the government paid off and things started getting better. Today the Ambulance service has improved a lot in Delhi. Now the government has more and better-equipped ambulances. The Bike ambulance which the Delhi government launched in 2019 is also now equipped with better equipment like oxygen cylinders, portable ECG devices, defibrillators, etc.

Tumblr media
Oct 04, 2022 01:16 IST Paris , October 4 (Always First): Indian Ambassador to France Jawed Ashraf attended the Paris InfraWeek inaugural, where he highlighted New Delhi's scale of infrastructure, digitalization and logistics support growth. The event was attended by various dignitaries on Monday. "India Country of Honour @Paris Infra Week. With Minister of Economy & Finance @BrunoLeMaire & ADP Chairman @Romanet. I spoke how India's scale of infrastructure, digitalization n logistics support growth, inclusion, sustainability, sovereignty, strategic autonomy n resilience," the Ambassador tweeted. Notably, India and France have always had traditionally close and friendly relations. In 1998, the two countries entered into a Strategic Partnership which is emblematic of their convergence of views on a range of international issues apart from a close and growing bilateral relationship. The two countries have a burgeoning economic relationship. French businesses and industry have forged linkages with the Indian economy and contribute significantly to our goal to become an Atmanirbhar Bharat. There are over 1000 French businesses in India in variegated sectors such as defence, ITES, consulting, engineering services, heavy industry et al. France is the 7th largest foreign investor in India with a cumulative FDI stock of USD 9 billion from April 2, 2000, to December 2020, which represents 2 per cent of the total FDI inflows into India. Moreover, during the second wave of COVID-19 in India, France also supported India with a massive solidarity mission launched at the request of the President of the French Republic. The operation was implemented by the Embassy of France in India led along with IFCCI and Team France. During this mission, 55 crores (6.1 million euros) were raised from 55 French and Indian groups for donating 29 state-of-the-art French-made oxygen-generating plants to Indian hospitals across the country. France is also a fast-growing Indian partner in defence cooperation and the two countries share a strong strategic and defence partnership. As seen in the timely delivery of the Rafale despite the pandemic, the two sides enjoy synergy in the field of defence. In February 2022, India received the eighth batch of three Rafale fighter aircraft from France. (Always First) Read the full article

Smile India Trust's amazing work targeted supporting poor families
Smile India Trust is an NGO working for the poor. We started our services in 2017. Our NGO avails poor families in meeting them with the necessities.
Our NGO handles food distribution for the poor living in slums. Volunteers visit various parts of the Delhi, U.P., and Meerut slum areas. We support families who cannot meet necessities like food, clothes, and medical help. Our charitable organization is working for the betterment of poverty-stricken people. Our volunteers make sure that every child and their family gets food. These families are not able to earn that much so they can eat 3 times meals a day.
Every family has seen the devastation that has happened due to Covid. But very less can imagine the vulnerable condition faced by the poor. Without home, food, water, job, and medical help they somehow survived. The main problem started when the lockdown kept on extending for a longer period.
As they mostly belong to labor occupations their work suddenly got stopped. Due to lack of work they have no income left out with them. They were completely homeless and hopeless. Here our volunteers played an important role by supporting them. We distributed a full month's ration along with cooked food in slums.
Tumblr media
The Smile India Organization is taking a baby step to make a hunger-free India. So that we could be able to reduce the number of hungry people. It has been almost 2 years since the pandemic started, but still, the poor are affected. We had planned to continue to support the people living in a slum in the future too. For fulfilling this we need your trust and support with us.
Let's look at certain examples that are still affecting the poor's survival.
Food
You might be thinking that how food is still a problem!! Let's help you what is the current scenario of food availability for poor families.
Tumblr media
New Delhi is a metro politician city that has almost every facility. This is the world’s second-most populous city with 25 million inhabitants. Delhi is continuously experiencing several migrant people. Most of them here came in search of jobs to earn money.
Everything was going almost smooth before Covid. But after its arrival, everything changed suddenly. They are left homeless and hopeless in an unknown city. With the help of our Food Initiative "Meals of Happiness," we distributed food in slums. By following every safety measure of Covid, we helped hundreds of families daily. We have pinned out many families who are hungry for weeks. We opened our Helpline services where poor families would call and we would try to reach with precautionary measures to feed them or provide ration. Our organization is moving forward in making India Hunger Free.
Education
Education gives you the quality to change yourself. Children face considerable barriers to employment and earning in life without education.
Tumblr media
We educate children with basic education. But if someone is willing to get higher education, we support them. According to UNICEF, about 600 million children get deprived of education.
Through our initiatives, we skill poor with painting walls, Crafting, and Tailoring. These children cannot afford schooling in private hospitals. Due to Covid their connection with education fully got cut off. Volunteers now visit slums and educated children and help them with educational supplies.
Hospital services
The Smile India Organization supports poor families with medical help. We have a team of doctors who keep a regular visit to slums with volunteers. We continue this support with the motive that if someone is unaware of any disease, they get to know it on time.
Tumblr media
The condition of hospitals in rural areas is miserable. Some hospitals have insufficient doctors or attendants, medicines, and beds.
During Covid, these families were unable to arrange beds and oxygen for them. The Smile India Organization helped in arranging the medicines and oxygen for them.
There are many such services that we offer to the poverty-stricken people of India. You can watch our activities on our website under Blogs, Articles, and Smile Stories.
