Do we have a Phonenix yet in the menagire? We need one.
Phoenix!Desmond, probably looking like a normal bird for the most part, and stays with Sef when they go after the mongols (Altair probably thinks he's getting too old he looked a bit ratty lately) and takes the hit when Swami tries to kill him.
Idk whether to have this crack or angest with them thinking Desmond died, had a chick, and was apparently a female bird the entire time.
Okay, so I was checking the Phoenix wiki page for any information if it would be possible that Altaïr would know what a phoenix is and there’s this part written by Herodotus (yes, Kassandra’s Herodotos)
[The Egyptians] have also another sacred bird called the phoenix which I myself have never seen, except in pictures. Indeed it is a great rarity, even in Egypt, only coming there (according to the accounts of the people of Heliopolis) once in five hundred years, when the old phoenix dies. Its size and appearance, if it is like the pictures, are as follow: The plumage is partly red, partly golden, while the general make and size are almost exactly that of the eagle. They tell a story of what this bird does, which does not seem to me to be credible: that he comes all the way from Arabia, and brings the parent bird, all plastered over with myrrh, to the temple of the Sun, and there buries the body.
… which may be a reference to Bennu, the Egyptian deity connected to the sun, creation, and rebirth.
So Altaïr would meet him during his travels with Maria and he just stays. They assume he’s an exotic bird (or eagle), maybe a native to one of the places Altaïr and Maria visited.
Altaïr never told them that the bird flew into his room one night and began to chirp at him as if trying to tell him something. He also tried to tap the Apple but all it did was glow a bit.
The bird had been quite annoyed by it and began to hit it with his talons so quickly the Apple had a taptaptaptaptap sound rapidly before Altaïr could take the Apple.
After that, the bird just decided to sit on Altaïr’s shoulder when he left his room the following morning and Maria assumed he had bought the bird yesterday when they went their separate ways.
Her guess sounded so much better than the truth which was Altaïr spent the entire day yesterday holed up in his room, writing letters to be sent back to Masyaf as part of his deal with Malik in exchange for letting him go on this trip (which was to send letters detailing the geopolitical situations of the places he travels to with suggestion on what the Brotherhood should do in those parts… if they could do anything).
So nobody ever questioned the mentor’s newly acquired bird (except Malik but Malik had been more focused on the ex-Templar that Altaïr brought to Masyaf and married).
Then Darim and Sef were born and the bird (named Desmond because Altaïr thought of the name first when Maria asked what the bird’s name was) usually stayed with the children, letting out loud screeching cries whenever one of the two children were doing something they shouldn’t do.
When they got older, Darim and Sef learned the word ‘bribe’ and how Desmond can be easily bribed to look the other way in favor of delicious food.
Desmond stayed in Masyaf though, regardless if Altaïr or any of his sons left for a mission or to travel to a bureau. At some point, the bird had become a symbol of Brotherhood with its gold and red plumage.
So when Altaïr left with Maria and Darim to take down Genghis Khan, it was only natural for Desmond to stay with Sef in Masyaf.
Altaïr had been a bit conflicted though as Desmond’s feathers had grown quite… dull and he was moving slower than usual.
Maria and Malik both told them that Desmond was growing old and maybe it was time but the Ibn-La'Ahad boys refused to believe that.
Darim also believed that they might find medicine in one of the camps of the Mongols as they have been to many lands.
So when Desmond flew to protect Sef and got stabbed on the chest by Swami, Swami screamed as Desmond became shrouded in flames.
Swami burned as well and Sef could only watch in horror as white hot flames consumed the both of them.
Swami was left as a corpse charred beyond recognition.
While Desmond…
Only ashes remained…
And from those ashes…
Sef heard a small chirp.
As a little chick with red and gold plumage poked his head out of the ashes, shaking the ash from his small body.
Sef could only stare as he asked, “Desmond?”
And the bird gave him an enthusiastic chirp while jumping.

im new to the ac fandom and i didnt know there were any books should i be reading them?? or are there certain ones that i absolutely need to read or would i be okay if i skip them?
Yeah it’s okay to skip them if you want! They’re mostly there to give some more insight on some of the characters. If you want to read them but you don’t have to money to buy the books, you can read them here. I actually have all the books already on paper copy so I would definitely recommend buying them if you really enjoy them.
There’s also some comics and graphic novels about them too which I have included in on the master list. They actually follow the modern storyline of you want to read up on that. If you want to read them just do readcomicsonline. They have them all, only watch out for ads.
Anyway here’s the master list, it’s pretty long won’t lie:
The books, in order of strictly historical events:
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey by Gordon Doherty (2018)
Basically this books gives the canonical story to assassin’s creed odyssey following Kassandra around Greece. If you had the “best” or good ending from the story then you’re probably going to be upset with the book. I actually liked it and if you were ever confused about the game then this is definitely for you to read.
Assassin’s Creed Origins: Desert Oath by Oliver Bowden (2017)
This book takes place years before Origins. It follows Bayek who a teenager at the time. We learn how Bayek and Aya start their relationship and it kind of explains some of the side missions that talk about Bayek’s past. If you love Bayek and Aya’s relationship you will love this book.
[ insert for whenever an ac valhalla book is written ]
Assassin’s Creed: The Secret Crusade by Oliver Bowden (2011)
This book is the one I’m currently rereading, so it takes place with the father of Marco Polo talking about Altaïr’s life. It talks about his—Altaïr’s—dad within the first few chapters, events that happened in the game, and then what happens after. It gives more insight on what happened between the events of ac one and the little bits of scenes we see in ac revelations of Altaïr in game. If you want to know how Maria and Altaïr got together you’ll like this book it’s very sweet and I love how smitten Altaïr was. If you love Atlmal (Altaïr and Malik) you’ll also like this book but it will crush you.
Assassin’s Creed: Renaissance by Oliver Bowden (2009)
This follows Ezio through assassin’s creed two. Literally just the book version of the game. Does talk about how Ezio and Cristina got together and a few of the memories you get to play in Brotherhood are in this book. I like it. It pretty much follows the game exactly so if you want to skip it, you can but still a really good book that I recommend reading.
Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood by Oliver Bowden (2010)
Follows the plot of the game. It’s pretty similar to it as opposed to a few differences. While I like this book, I will always say the game is better than this book entirely. Still, it’s pretty good and explains a lot of plot.
Assassin’s Creed: Revelations by Oliver Bowden (2011)
It explains why Ezio is doing what he does in the game. Why he’s there and what is reasoning is. You get a little small bit about Claudia but that’s it. Ezio does, in book, visit Leonardo on the last few days before the artist dies :( that’s pretty much it. Only some minor differences to the game. If you’re looking for something about Desmond, you won’t find it in this book.
Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag by Oliver Bowden (2013)
I’ll be honest I only read this book once so my memory is pretty poor on it but from what I can remember it’s about Edward and Caroline and how they got together. And then there’s something about Anne Boney and Edward towards the end I believe. Kind of explains his backstory from the little scenes we’re shown in the game I think? (Correct me if I’m wrong on this one but I’m certain that’s the gist of it).
Assassin’s Creed: Forsaken by Oliver Bowden (2012)
This one was the first assassin’s creed book I read. Now fair warning: if you do not like Haytham Kenway, I strongly advise you to not read this book. It is all about Haytham until the final few chapters and then Connor takes over the book once you’ve killed him in game. This book explains how he (Haytham) came to be apart of the Templars and how Edward dies. It talks about his relationship with Ziio and how he built the Templar order up during the seven years war. I’ll be honest it was okay when I first read it because I was like 11 and the only other thing I had read was like just percy jackson. Looking back on this book though, it’s not that great. I do not like Haytham at all so I, personally, would not recommend this book. I went in reading it expecting for it to be about Connor and I was very disappointed and upset that it wasn’t. So you can skip this book if you like because the only thing it does is give insight to a lot of what Haytham does.
Assassin’s Creed: Unity by Oliver Bowden (2014)
This is my favorite book. This is about Arno reading Elise’s diary after she passed. There’s little bits where Arno writes in here and there throughout the novel. It’s pretty sad I won’t lie. Explains how Elise grew up, what she did during the parts where we didn’t see her in game, and talks about how she felt during the parts where we did see her in game. Basically at the end of the book it’s Elise asking Arno to please help seek unity and stop the war between the Templars and Assassins.
Assassin’s Creed: Underworld by Oliver Bowden (2015)
This book follows Jayadeep Mir, also known to us as Henry Green. There’s two parts to this book. The first part takes place six years before the events of syndicate and you get to really learn about the twin’s father and then the second part takes place during the events of the game. It talks about Evie and Henry’s relationship during the second part and it’s pretty good!
There are no books about assassin’s creed chronicles (ac China, India, and Russia) if you’re wondering why they’re missing :(
The comics:
*most of these take place during the modern storyline I’ll try my best to explain when they come in and how it adds up to the new our modern storyline at the end
Assassin’s Creed the Fall
There’s three issues with this it’s just a graphic novel honestly. Takes place with the main character from AC Chronicles: Russia
Assassin’s Creed the Chain
Graphic Novel sequel to the Fall
Assassin’s Creed Brahman
Written by the same people who wrote The Fall and The Chain, however this focuses on Arbaaz Mir who is the main character from Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India.
Now from what I’ve seen, correct me if I’m wrong, but the templar and assassin comics pretty much take place around the same time.
Assassin’s Creed: Trial by Fire
Assassin’s Creed issue #1, #2, #3, #4, #5
Assassin’s Creed Templars: Black Cross
Assassin’s Creed Templars issue #1, #2, #3, #4, #5
Assassin’s Creed: Setting Sun
Assassin’s Creed issue #6, #7, #8, #9, #10
Assassin’s Creed Templars: Cross of War
Assassin’s Creed Templars issue issue #6, #7, #8, #9
Assassin’s Creed: Homecoming
Assassin’s Creed issue #11, #12, #13, #14
Assassin’s Creed: Uprising
Common Ground Vol 1: issue #1, #2, #3, #4
Infection Point Vol 2: issue #5, #6, #7, #8
Finale vol 3: #9, #10, #11, #12
Assassin’s Creed Reflections (pretty much a stand alone I would say, focuses entirely on past assassins but canon to the templar comics).
Reflections 1: modern story focuses on Otso Berg historical story focuses on Ezio where we learn Ezio is implied to have hooked up with the woman who in the Mona Lisa painting.
Reflections 2: same thing for modern story but now Otso is looking into Altaïr’s story. We get to see Maria, Altaïr, and their son Darim.
Reflections 3: Otso is now looking into Edward Kenway.
Reflections 4: Otso looks into Connor and we see him with his daughter. It’s super cute this issue is my favorite.
Last Descendants
The Last Descendants (Novel)
Locus: issues 1 - 4
The Last Descendants: Tomb of the Khan (novel)
The Last Descendants: Fate of the Gods (novel)
Assassin’s Creed: the French Books (these have all been translated into english and theyre all graphic novels).
These books I would say to skip. If you want to read it you can, however the modern storyline has been said to no longer be canon anymore. The historical storyline however is still canon but not actually necessary to the plot of anything.
Cycle 1
Assassin’s Creed 1: Desmond
Assassin's Creed 2: Aquilus
Assassin's Creed 3: Accipiter
Assassin's Creed 4: Hawk
Assassin's Creed 5: El Cakr
Assassin's Creed 6: Leila
Cycle 2
Assassin’s Creed: Conspiracies
This takes place during WW2
Vol 1: Die Glocke
Vol 2: Project Rainbow
Cycle 3
Assassin’s Creed: Bloodstone
This takes place during the Vietnam War. A follow up on Conspiracies.
Vol 1: book one
Vol 2: book two
The last two I have listed (Conspiracies and Bloodstone) are canon to the comics’ modern storyline as well as the historical. Cycle one is not. They’re both graphic novels. Also I want to say that I have not read these two yet so idk if I’ll be allowed to recommend them but they’re there. I have no idea where they’re placed in terms of modern storyline bc these two are very confusing seeing as they originally were canon then told they weren’t and now they are again.
Other comics that I really have no idea where to place but they do exist if you want to read them:
Assassin’s Creed: Origins (mini series)
Four issues for this comic takes place following Aya and her journey. You get to see what happens with Cleopatra. I personally really like this comic you get some lore on the Brotherhood and Aya so it’s good. Read this after the video game. (Pretty positive it takes place after the game events but before the DLC: hidden ones)
Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla: Song of Glory (mini series)
There are three issues in this. Haven’t read this one yet, however it focuses on Eivor. Read this alongside the video game.
Okay so for canon timeline purposes here is the exact order of everything I’ve listed and where they fall in for strictly the modern storyline:
1 The Fall and the Chain (also called subject four which is just the two of the books into one)
2 Desmond’s story
3 Brahman
4 Assassin’s Creed: Trial by Fire 1 - 5
5 Assassin’s Creed Templars: Black Cross 1 - 5
6 Assassin’s Creed: Setting Sun 6 - 10
6 Assassin’s Creed Templars: Cross of War 6 - 9
7 Assassin’s Creed: Homecoming 11 - 14
Assassin’s Creed Reflections (stand alone don’t have to read if you don’t want to but if you do, read along side the templar stories.)
8 Assassin’s Creed Syndicate modern storyline takes place here
9 Assassin’s Creed: Uprising
10 Origins modern storyline starts here and continues for assassin’s creed odyssey and valhalla*
*If you’re confused as to why Juno isn’t in the game plot anymore the comics explains it. Ubisoft has completely moved her story to the comics entirely and in doing so completely finished the story.

thoughts on altair? i feel like you don't talk about him much
send me thoughts on ___
I REALLY DON’T TALK ABOUT HIM ENOUGH. DO I. ok i promise i won’t go TOO insane. for your sake
he that increaseth knowledge, increaseth sorrow
HELLO?????? i hate that these words absolutely just defines altaïr’s entire life..... like post ac1 character development (which by the way. SEXIEST character development in the entire series but i’ll soldier on) he just continues to strive for the betterment of the brotherhood and the more love he pours into it the more he loses... and actually even though he would never go on to see the impact of his relentless dedication his legacy is seen all across the ezio trilogy.
actually don’t get me started on the codex page i will cry. not today kings.....
LIKE EVEN as he gets angry with the world and questions whether or not it is even fighting for he still continues to do so only for the welfare of humankind AND I MEAN you sort of see that in ac1 where like for full sync he would have saved every civilian in peril and again he stays with the brotherhood after losing both his wife and one of his sons
i think about the l*brary scene all the time because even in death ultimately ends up alone 🥺 it’s softened a little bit by him saying goodbye to darim (again i’ll cry) BUT spending your whole life fighting with compassion only to die alone in an empty room....... DOING SO AGAIN FOR THE BROTHERHOOD
also this is like just a minor thing but people get huffy about the difference between acr’s first altaïr memory and ac1 BUT imco (in my correct opinion) i thin it highlights a neat case of character development that isn’t a positive one.
okay this is getting long LMAO who would have guessed!!!! all in all,,,, i just think he’s  nea;t

I tried to puzzle out how I was going to cover the ending, but like. I honest to god feel like I can’t break this up easily, and to break it up would lose the emotional inertia behind it all. This is the end for the Ezio trilogy, as well as the end of Altair’s story, and there’s a lot of emotional weight that comes with it. This isn’t as simple as just throwing up a couple screens, though I could do that. Another reason why it’s hard to break into bits is because there’s sections of this that are gameplay, with others that are cutscenes, and it’s just a really good mesh of all of it together, and trying to pick it apart would be very hard.
I’ve cried at least three times over this, and I’ll probably cry again.
Ezio opens the door to the Library and walks inside, lighting the lanterns as he does, only to find that the bookshelves are all empty. There’s nothing inside, save for cobwebs and a ring of chairs, and the one farthest away seems to have a person sitting inside.
Ezio: No books.... no wisdom... Just you, fratello mio.
Ezio gets closer, and finds Altair’s skeleton, sitting in the chair, dressed in his robes of the Mentor. In his hand is a final Key, which glows with light as Ezio approaches.
Ezio: Requiescat in pace, Altair.
The last key lights up, and we are pulled into the memory of Altair speaking to his son, Darim. Masyaf is about to be abandoned, just as Altair said it would, and he is sending Darim away. Darim looks older, so I had initially thought this took place another ten years after the last key, but this isn’t more than a few months after. I guess Darim’s older model wasn’t used for the last Key, though I can’t say why.
The Mongols are coming to destroy the castle and the people inside it, so Altair bids Darim to take his books away to the Library at Alexandria. Darim expresses confusion over Altair sending his Library away, only to realize that it’s not a library at all, but a vault for Altair’s Apple, and the secrets it contains. Darim asks, but Altair tells him not to worry, and to go be with his family instead. Darim hugs his father, and then speaks one last time.
Darim: All that is good in me, began with you, father.
The Vault door slides shut, and you guide Altair down the same path that Ezio just walked, and you put out the torches that you had just lit as Ezio. Along the way you hear several snippets of conversation between Altair and Maria, a couple of lines from Al Mualim, and some from Darim. After hiding the Apple, then comes the thing that broke me
Tumblr media
You guide Altair over to the chair, with the knowledge that this is the last time you’ll ever get to control him, that this is his end. Fuck I’m tearing up just writing about it. It’s so like, visceral, because you know that this is the only place it can lead, but the game won’t advance until you do so. And so you guide him to sit, and on shaking knees and hands he settles himself down. Never to be seen again, until Ezio finds him two hundred and fifty-five years later.
As you regain control of Ezio, the room gets filled with strange lights from Altair’s Apple, and you’re prompted to walk over to it. It begins to glow, prompting Ezio to take it, only for him to realize no, and say that he “Has seen enough for one life.” He begins to strip off his armor, his bracers, all the while talking to Desmond, as the room around him glows brighter and brighter.
“Desmond?” “I heard your name once before, Desmond, a long time ago. And now it lingers in my mind like an image from an old dream. I do not know where you are, or by what means you can hear me. But I know you are listening.” “I have lived my life as best I could, not knowing it’s purpose, but drawn forward like a moth to a distant moon. And here, at last, I discover a strange truth. I am only a conduit for a message that eludes my understanding.” “Who are we, who have been so blessed to share our stories like this? To speak across centuries?  Maybe you will answer all the questions I have asked. Maybe you will be the one to make all this suffering worth something in the end.”  “For now... Listen...”
Got it hurts so much for Ezio to admit that his life just... doesn’t mean anything in the grander scheme. That everything about his life was engineered and manufactured so he could be Desmond’s Prophet, and simply pass along a message. Ezio is the kind of character that craves a purpose in his life, that needs a directive, a higher calling, and yet his ‘higher calling’ was simply to give a warning that would come only into effect some five hundred years later. It’s the same shit that Altair faced, where he was building a message for someone, but never knowing who.
Ngl I started just. Bawling. At this point. Because like -- that purpose he craved? Amounted to nothing, it wasn’t him that was important, just what he would pass on. Merely a link in a chain, who’s whole story would only be known by Desmond. How lonely that must be, to look at his life and accomplishments, and realize that none of it really mattered, that it was all some grand plan, just for him to be the conduit of a message. He’s been serving as Desmond’s Prophet all his life, only to be pushed out of the way so Desmond can speak with the person who summoned him.
We are pulled into a strange, glowing place, with an old man speaking directly to Desmond, via Ezio, calling him “Cipher”. The man speaks of Minerva, of the Nexus of Time, and just... God there’s so much. This is finally getting some answers to what the hell kind of warning Minerva talked about at the end of ac2, with the sun flaring up and killing everyone.
The man, named Jupiter, says that there were several different methods considered, and that it was his, Minerva’s, and Juno’s purpose to try and save the world from the impending doom. None of it worked, and we are treated to a cinematic of the destruction that is coming for Earth.
It’s, quite simply put, horrific. Earth quakes, lightning strikes, fire and blood that tears apart the entire world. And it’s coming again.
Jupiter says that once the earth quelled, and the fires were put out, “Less than ten thousand of your kind still lived... and far fewer of ours.” This is a reference to the Toba Catastrophe theory, which posits that 75,000 years ago, there was a massive calamity that reduced the number of human breeding pairs to less than 10k, and that all humans are descended from those that were left. The actual theory is controversial, and doesn’t really work in real life, but it works for the purposes of this story.
Jupiter tells Desmond that he has to go to where they “labored and lost”, and find the way to stop this from happening all again. But he warns that he does not know how exactly this will all end, because he is peering though the Nexus of Time, and so therefore Desmond will have to be careful.
The game pulls back to Rebecca saying that Desmond’s moving, and he slowly, slowly wakes up, to William hovering over him, asking if he can hear. Instead of responding, Desmond looks to his right hand, which glows Precursor blue, and says quite simply, “I know what we need to do.”
Aaaaaand credits.
God I’m still not okay. I think this is one of the more emotional endings to a story that I’ve seen, and I’ve played Shadowbringers. While I have a lot of issues with how Revelations is set up, and the narrative plays out, this is ... whoof this ending took a lot out of me. I was pretty inconsolable for a day or two.
This is like, and Ending. It’s not just a continuation from one game to the next, the way that ac2 or Brotherhood were, this is like, closure and and wrapping up threads in a satisfying way. It hurts that Ezio’s been used like this, sure, but there’s still threads of a happy life ahead of him with Sofia. Adding in Altair’s story, while short and sometimes questionable, undoubtedly helped the entire narrative, and made everything tie together. It hurts, but it’s a good kind of hurt, a sort of good bye to everything that has happened so far.
Revelations might be the one of Ezio’s trilogy that I have the most issues with, but it also I think is my favorite just for the sheer emotion that it pulled from me.
Sorry I know this is a massive bit, and a hell of an ending to lump together, but I honestly didn’t know how else I was going to talk about it.

How It Should Have Happened
(2)
Snow kicked up, blinding him for a moment. Bringing his blade up, Darim fought the larger man, and cursed under his breath. On his back, the man held the advantage, so Darim had to use his wits. Circling their blades so that the attacker’s stabbed into the icy ground beside his ear, Darim plunged his sword into the man’s stomach. The foe’s eyes went wide, with shock or pain he didn’t care, and Darim rolled his body off him. Groaning, he readying himself for the two rushing him. Formulating how best to attack, a muscially familiar sound made him freeze, and he was elated to see arrows protruding from the bodies. Now safe, he turned around.
“Working on your aim, have you?” Darim turned over his shoulder, cleaning his blade before storing it.
Grinning down at him, she placed the bow on her back and stuck out a hand. “Someone had to save you.”
“Must it always be you?” Darim took her hand, and she helped him up the snowback. Dusting the snow from his arms and pants, he placed his hands on her shoulders and took her in. “Has it been so long? A proper Assassin stands before me now.”
“You’d be unlucky if I weren’t.” She teased before growing serious. “Masyaf is in trouble.” (Y/N) pulled him into a hug and Darim brushed the snow from her. Removing her bow, she handed it to him. “Better with you, don’t you think?”
“Only because mine was ruined.” Placing an imaginary arrow, he drew back and practiced his aim. Handing him an arrow marked with a goose feather, a batch he’d given her for her birthday, Darim’s expert fingers placed them. Gently, yet so strongly, he drew back and shot a nearby tree. A heavenly twang filled the air, and Darim appeared happy.
“Amazing shot.”
“It veered a bit to the left, don’t you think?” Darim pouted, looking down at her. (Y/N) shook her head, and walked away. “(Y/N)? (Y/N)?”
Seeing Altair and Maria again delighted her to the point of tears, but she dared not let them fall. Well, in front of Altair at least. Maria took her into her arms as Darim told them of her saving him and she told them what was happening at home. Altair thanked her and held her hand awkwardly, he was never much of a hugger. Once the Mongol threat was ended, they rushed home.
“It was wonderful.” She was telling Darim, recounting the sights and sounds of Assassins training in Masyaf. Longing filled her for her home.
“It will be good to be back.” Darim confessed, keeping his voice low and looking up to his parents in front of them. Riding slowly side by side, Altair and Maria kept their heads bent low in conversation. Is that how her and Darim looked? The thought made her cheeks hot suddenly, and she pulled away to cool herself. Why had that thought affected her like that? Darim hadn’t noticed. “Travelling opens my mind to all the possibilty the world has to offer, so I should be happy.”
“Should?” Darim turned sheepish, and she leaned in. “I won’t tell Altair, I promise.” They giggled like school children until Darim finally groaned and confessed.
“I’d rather stay at Maysaf.”
Her brows rose, as did her interest. “Why?”
Darim shrugged, “I... I don’t know.” He grew silent, unlike himself, and (Y/N) tried to comfort him.
“What would you do at Masyaf?” She pressed, swatting his hand on the reins to get his attention. It worked, and his grey blue eyes twinkled at her. “Don’t tell me I’m meant to call you Master in a few years.”
Darim half laughed, half groaned. “I think I’d like to train novices.” The confession turned his cheeks pink, and he could feel it. One of the downfalls he’d inherited from his mother. He looked to (Y/N), bracing himself for the shocked or shamed look in her eyes. Instead, he found contemplation.
“You’d make a terrific teacher.”
“You think so?” She nodded. “Thank you, (Y/N).” His heart felt like how clouds looked, why was that? “Besides, I’ll probably be calling you Mentor first.” His heart fluttered even more at her red face. The way her eyes would widen before squinting, unsure if he was teasing or not (and he meant to keep her guessing), before finally scrunching her nose at him and rolling her eyes to look away.
Looking back, that’s when Darim figured out he was in love with her.
That light feeling accompanied them the entire journey until Masyaf’s village surrounded them. Then, reality weighed down. Maria looked back at them, and (Y/N) broke away from the group. Darim’s eyes never left hers until she abandoned her horse at the well and dropped into the shadows. It was time to put their plan to work.
Three days it took for her to understand the schedule of Masyaf, and by the fourth night, under the cover of darkness, she snuck into the living quarters and searched for the family. Finding the quiver of goose feathers at the door, she’d found the house and knocked five times. The door barely opened before she was pulled inside.
It took a few minutes before her eyes adjusted to the darkness, but she recognized that raspy voice. “Were you followed?”
“No, Mentor.” She never witted him. Besides, they hadn’t the time for it.
Altair nodded, then released her. Darim gave his father a look that he missed, but his mother didn’t. Breaking the silence, she took (Y/N)’s hands. “Are you ok?”
“Sneaking into Masyaf was easier than it should have been, but more from poor training and lots of alcohol rather than luck or falling into a trap.”
“We can’t say that.” Altair cut it. “We can not fully know anything.”
“While gathering information, I’ve learned this, Mentor. Abbas has a counsel-”
Maria growled, “We’ve met.”
“The Assassins have turned from a symbol of peace to corruption, and,” Her fingers twitched with excitement, like the possibilty would tear her apart. Upon hearing it, it took all her control to supress her emotions and stick to the plan. Getting ahead of herself would risk the lives of more people she loved, and lose their advantage. “Malik is alive.”
“We’ve heard that too.” Altair muttered, and took a seat on the bed. Turning to listen to her information, he picked and pried apart everything she had learned. It wasn’t out of rudeness, she knew, he was trying to get the whole picture.
“Abbas flaunts the information that Malik is in prison, though he said the charges were murder.” Darim brushed against her side. The house was very small. It felt strange with his parents laying close enough to hear them, but with no other option, they remained as they were. To be fair, she didn’t mind it.
“Whose?”
“Sef’s.” (Y/N)’s breath caught, and Darim gave a hard chuckle. “Our reaction too. Of course we knew you’d gotten the family out before Abbas could get to them, so he was lying, but the part that we really had to act on, was your death.”
“My death?”
Darim nodded, his mouth a straight line. “Apparently, Malik wanted complete control of the Brotherhood and felt that you and my brother were the only ones standing in his way. Abbas tried to avenge you.”
(Y/N) felt horror drip into her bones. The fall of the Brotherhood was on her head. “How? Why did they think I died?” Hadn’t anyone seen her running out of Masyaf?
“A body was found. Too decomposed to identify. Had your brooch.” Sef! Her eyes widened. He told her to trust him.
“Your brother can explain that when he gets back.” (Y/N) said.
“Though we could use the help, I’m not sure it’s right to have Sef leave his family to fight. No matter how much he’d want to.”
“Trust me, I agree.” The thought of those girls having to grow up without a father disturbed her. “That’s why I told him I’d contact him when Masyaf was safe.”
Darim nodded, “Good.” Soft snoring from the bed made them smile, and Darim yawned. “Sorry.” He turned away, and she stretched.
“I’ll take first watch?”
“Couldn’t ask you to.” But his eyes were heavy with sleep, so much so that he could barely open them fully. Even though he said this, he sat on the ground and leaned his head against the wall. (Y/N) took a seat beside him. How long had it been since she’d rested? Being dead afforded her the luxury of working even farther beneath the radar that they’d hoped and now would give her time to rest. Her thoughts turned to Malik. It had been months since she’d seen him, and guilt weighed heavy in her heart. She should’ve saved him first. “He wouldn’t have wanted that.” Darim whispered, and she snapped back to the small room. With a shaky breath, his hand inched for hers before suddenly taking it. (Y/N) could hear that he’d held his breath, and she turned to see him watching her. Waiting for a reaction to what he’d just done.
Giving his hand a squeeze, she leaned against him and intertwined their fingers. Darim relaxed, releasing his pent up breath, and watching their hands with a satisfied smile. He’d never given any of his precious bows that look.
Running his thumb over her wrist and the back of her hand softly, delicately, Darim continued, “Killing Malik would never give Abbas the loyality of the Brotherhood, Malik knew that. It was the right thing going to Sef and then getting my father.”
“I should’ve fought harder. Snuck back into Masyaf and found him sooner.”
“Then Sef would be dead.” She blinked. She hadn’t thought of that. “(Y/N), you chose the only clear path there was at the time, and you chose well. Sef and his family are safe, Malik is alive, and we have Assassins on our side. The road to getting here might have been difficult, but trust yourself. You did what anyone,” Darim dropped his voice, knowing the respect she held for Altair, “what even my own father would’ve done.”
“You think so?” (Y/N) asked softly, their noses almost touching. Electricity sparked between them. Darim nodded, and she relaxed. “I still feel guilty. How do you think he’s been this whole time? I shouldn’t have left.”
Casting her eyes down, she focused on his hood. The spot were he held throwing knives was empty. “If you hadn’t, where would we be?” Her eyes flickered up to his. “It’s ok to feel what you’re feeling, but you have to look away from the past. It’s already happened. If there’s something you wish to change, then you must look to the future.”
She wasn’t sure how it happened or who had leaned in the remaining distance, probably her, but she remembered being entraced by Darim and then feeling a  bolt as their fingers parted and their lips met. He cupped her cheek, gently lifting her up to him, and her fingers tangled his curls.
Altair’s snoring grew loud, and they broke apart, laughing silently. “I suppose, given the present company...” She took Darim’s hand and they secured one another again. Nodding, Darim kissed it. “That will have to suffice.”
“For now.” Darim smiled, and she yawned. “You require sleep as much as I do.”
“You haven’t slept the longest.” Her eyes were heavy, and Darim angled his shoulder so that she found her head resting on it. He was warm, and his robes soft. Nuzzling her face into his shoulder, she got comfortable.
“Trust me.” Darim kissed her forehead. He’d waited for long to kiss her, he felt that now started, he was unable to stop. “I’ve never been more awake.”

Being the Younger Twin
Being the younger twin of Desmond, Connor, Arno and Altair. It’s my first time trying this, let me know what you think!
Tumblr media
Desmond
At first, he was gonna leave you at the barn until he found something more permanent. But, hell no you weren’t about to stay in that hell hole.
You had the better plan anyway and he was a little angry about that, he’s older he should know better
When you land in New York, you get a job as a waitress and him a bartender right across the street
That was by chance, he says, you roll your eyes
He’s protective of you and will always make sure you’re safe, wherever you are
You tell him be careful about the motorcycle
When he gets caught, the first thing you do is roll your eyes before going off to get him
Shaun and Rebecca get you first and explain everything
You’re wary of Lucy, but absolutely love Rebecca! The two of you are seen everywhere together, listening to music maybe getting a little high before things get serious
Des doesn’t want you in the animus. “It’s fucked up in there, sis. Don’t do it.”
But as the bleeding effect starts to affect him, you get it too... They start alternating the two of you in there to try and lessen the severity
You get good with Altair, memories with certain ancestors work better for you than him
When it comes time to go to Italy, you’re worried. Desmond is getting irritable, he’s seeing things and you know because you are too
Not matter what though, the two of you stick together. He’s got your back and you know he has yours
In the Grand Temple, you know exactly what Des is gonna choose. You fight about it for hours, tears in your eyes. There’s never been a time you two were apart, long term.
“Desmond, please!! I don’t know how to be just me, I love you. Don’t go!”
“It’s always been (Y/N) and Desmond, you will be okay. It’ll get easier sis. I’ll always be with you, when you’re in the animus or even just living life. I love you, so much and you can do so much better than I can.”
He’s too calm and you know he’s going to be the one to do it.
You mourn for so long, even Rebecca can’t pull you out of it
Strangely, the animus isn’t as cold feeling as it used to when you were in it.
Connor
He’s the protective older brother, will scare anyone that gives you a weird look
When the fire happens, he saves you first and when he’s unable to save your Mother...Well, it won’t leave him alone for a long time...
You stick with him, you don’t blame him at all. You just don’t want to lose him
When it’s time to leave, he tries to send you off with the others, but you fight to stay. It takes a looooong talk, but you manage to stay by his side
Most of the time, he doesn’t tell you the outright truth to protect you, but you know when he’s lying
You’re starting the fights most of the time and he’s helping finish them
You take to Achilles right away, absorbing his lessons and his words
Out of the two of you, you’re Achilles’ favorite, but he won’t say that out loud
When it’s time to train, he refuses to let you join in, but when you show that your stealth skills are excellent, he relents to let you join on smaller missions at first
When you hear of his hanging, you nearly lose it. Saving him is easy for you and he realises how much he has put you through. From then on, it’s the two of you working together with no secrets whatsoever.
Meeting Haytham leaves you confused, but that goes away as time goes on and you find you’re disgusted with him
You’re there to mourn Achilles with Connor, the two of you clutching each other and grateful for each other
In the final battle, you help Connor take down Haytham and everyone else
In the end, the two of you have each other and, though you struggle, things get better
Then you’re a proud Aunt and you couldn’t be happier for your brother
Arno
You didn’t have your father’s pocket watch, but you did have a necklace with a strange insignia
You knew better than to follow Elise and so you didn’t. But when Arno was gone for a while, you stepped away for just a moment. Your father called after you and then there was a scream.
A coat was tossed over him, so you wouldn’t see the horror, before you could get there. But you were screaming for Arno
When he appeared, he could just hold you without much talking.
From then on, the two of you were distant. You did despise him, he was your twin, you could say you were disappointed with him.
When it came time to live with the de la Serre’s, you were indifferent and quiet. Not a, shy quiet. No you listened and kept to yourself, waiting to strike.
You liked Elise and allowed yourself to play with her and Arno, but you just wanted your father
When Julie became sick, Francios trained you in stealth and espionage, hoping you would join the order like your brother. At Julie’s death, you were both disappointed with the lack of attention, though you had more feelings about her death than your brother
You move out with Arno and it seems like everything is okay between the two of you
When you hear that he is in prison, you leave immediately. You two may not be as close as you’d like, but he’s still your brother
He finds you immediately after being freed and tells you about Bellec
You’re wary about the brotherhood, the initiation was traumatizing enough, but you love the training, so you stick with it
You start to focus on your father, diverting from your brother who has long since moved on. Though you help him out in missions, often saving his ass from being caught
Bellec’s death is a surprise to you and you try to comfort your brother
The two of you fight it out
“You don’t care about anything! You can’t just let father stay in the past, when are you going to let it go!”
The words dig deep and you take a break from your hunt and truly come to take care of yourself and him
When he begins to go against the Creed, you fight again about it. When he doesn’t listen, you decide to take a break from everything. It’s time you found what you search for, you disappear for a while
When you come back, you hear about the Exile
For the first time, you cry. You cry all the way to your brother, Elise steps aside and lets you two talk it out
“Are you done hating me?” “I never hated you. I just never thought to see your point of view, I was too scared to get close to anyone in case they ended up like father; but that made me hurt more...”
The three of you aim to take down Germain together... Obviously, it doesn’t end perfectly
You keep Arno above the waters after Elise’s death and it takes a long time before he’s back on his feet
By then, you’ve learned of the Assassin-turned-Templar that brought you along this path...
Altair
You weren’t as cocky as your brother, you knew your skills were good, but you weren’t the best
You were disappointed when heard about what happened to Malik and his brother and devastated when you heard about his demotion
So much so, that when you tried to argue (God you could fight so hard for what you wanted) you got demoted too
Malik did not hate you as much as he did Altair and you worked hard to help them rebuild their relationship
It’s your level headedness and eagerness to learn that gains you back your rank faster
You argued all the time with Altair, why did he have to be an ass and get people killed? In the end you still loved him tho
As the hunt for the nine continued you both discussed the Templar deaths with uncertainty
When news of Al Mualim hits you, you are confused and furious
The two of you make a plan when you return to Masyaf
You and Malik gather the unafflicted Assassin’s and fight alongside your brother
Until it’s time to get the Apple, Altair doesn’t want you fighting and orders you away
You pretend to listen, as always, and come in to save his ass at the last second
Altair wants the two of you to lead the Order together; he has found that he is only better with you at his side
You agree and immediately begin research
Your ideas for assassination techniques, stealth and even furthering Eagle Vision amazes everyone
Your brother moves to do more missions while you stay behind and teach everyone yourself, you’ve got a real knack for it
You’re happy when he marries Maria, finally someone else to help keep your brother in line
Darim and Sef are your little bundles of joy and you dote on them as much as Altair does
You opt to stay rather than take down Khan
Abbas faked a problem that you had to go solve in order to overthrow everyone
You and Sef are captured, you’re his last goodbye to the world, promising him it’s not by his father’s hand and that he is loved
You and Malik are blamed for Sef’s murder
When Altair returns you are relieved and stay by his side, you tell him you failed him and understand if he hates you
He promises it’s the opposite, you remained loyal to him and you did your best despite the circumstances
You mourn Malik as his head rolls out of the box
You go into a rage after Maria dies and manage to wound anyone in your way to Darim
When it comes time to return, you are the one to attack first and the two of you defeat Abbas together
You help build the library, your extensive knowledge is key to most of its information
At the end, Altair knows you will not leave his side and he’s glad for it
Death is something the two of you have come to know well and will greet together
Darim is sad to see you both go, but relents
After Altair imprints the memory, you wish his strength before the two of you pass into the next world

Ah, I know I’ve needed to talk about this but I’ve always been afraid of the backlash, mostly because I’m a sensitive bean & don’t like being yelled at but also because of how the games handled Altair’s ethnicity & the community’s reaction to that --
I firmly headcanon Altair as being white passing. & I know a lot of people are mad at how the first game made him “white” but we need to understand (& apparently this isn’t as common knowledge as I thought?) that his mother was an Englishwoman. She was white, & obviously Umar wasn’t because he was born & was part of Syrian decent. & without breaking out a huge genetics argument let me just say that, from personal experience & research, I have seen that Altair being white passing despite having poc relations is completely plausible.
As for the whole American accent thing all I’m going to say is that it was a modification made by the Animus so Desmond would be more comfortable, because if you remember Desmond asked Lucy why everyone was speaking perfect English & she described it as a feature provided for the efficient use of the Animus by the user.
Now -- I would honestly swear to God, cross my heart, die for a Syrian actor I could use for Altair’s FC. However, most I know of are too old or female & that’s not gonna fly for me. &, let me say, that whitewashing poc characters has been a legitimate fear of mine that I have, at all costs, tried to avoid. If you know of the variety of blogs I have run over the years then you know this is true, but for the sake of newcomers, please understand that I try my best, I really do, & that I am always open to civil discussion & suggestions.
Anyway, I use Milo Ventimiglia as an FC because he is of Italian decent & has that olive/tan quality that could still pass as white. &, as far as I am concerned, that’s good enough. Other than that, I enjoy using him because of his beard & eyes & honest to god he’d what I imagine.
Also, I feel the need to describe that, in my personal headcanons, Umar converted to Christianity when he became involved with Maud. I also need to highlight the fact that the Brotherhood was accepting of all religions & didn’t have a strict, encompassing faith. Because, most of all, one was meant to be loyal to the Creed, beyond the boundaries of religion & nationality/ethnicity. Either way, Umar converted to Christianity because he felt that was right.
I headcanon, however, that Umar taught Altair both religions, but because of his loyalty to the Brotherhood he didn’t strictly conform to either -- when he married Maria he did “convert” to Christianity & they raised Sef & Darim with Christian influences.
As usual I must say, if you disagree that’s cool, but this is my personal headcanon. If it’s an issue with you then unfollow me, or better yet you can come discuss it with me, because as I said, I am always open to new perspectives & suggestions.

Chapter 14: Saffire’s Past
The day that Saffire was brought to the headquarters of the Assassin’s hideout, it was one that was going to be remembered as a horrifying day. She was only a few hours old, still crying out for her mother to hold her. The person who brought her was a midwife, and along with her was a novice, one that Altair and Azure had found themselves.
Altair was called out by someone, Edward, and he heard the faint cry of a baby and yelling. He, along with Ezio, went into the courtyard to a woman was holding a baby and the assassin was trying to explain what was happening over the yelling.
“Everyone! Quite!” Altair hollered out.
The people in the courtyard quieted down, looking at Altair to know what happens next. He saw that his son, Darim, was there, along with Edward, Ezio, two mothers with the children, Connor and Aveline, and the doctor.
He looked at the young assassin,” You. Explain what’s happening. The rest of you, shut up and listen.”
The assassin looked around,” Master. Master Soteria took me, and a midwife to a compound a mile or so outside of the city. When we got there, there was, was this woman, and she was in labor. I didn’t know what was going on. He told her,” He pointed at the midwife. “To help this woman. I asked him, and he said, he said that she was his wife and giving birth to his daughter.” He took a deep breath.” When I got a closer look at her, I realized she was a Templar. I started to tell him that he, he shouldn’t be doing this, but he said that he was taking care of it. When the baby was born, the templar died. Master said that her name was Celeste, after her mother. Then he told us to come here. I don’t what he’s gonna do.” The assassin hunched over, hands on knees and breathing heavy, still trembling.
Altair looked at the novice, then at the midwife holding the baby. He took a step towards the baby. When he was close enough, he looked at the child, wrapped up in black and white blankets. The child, this child didn’t what was happening, all she wanted was her mother and father.
“Doctor, take the child and make sure she’s okay, then bring her to me. Novice, you come with me, as well as Edward and Ezio.” Altair ordered.
He turned around and headed into the castle that was in the middle of the compound. Edward, Ezio, and the novice followed him. From where the three men were standing, they could tell that Altair was in a battle within himself. On one hand, a person who he considered one of his closest friends betrayed the Brotherhood, but on the other hand, he knows what it’s like to love someone you’re not supposed to. But, Maria saw the ways in her errors, and the Templar that Azure had had his daughter with was the next Headmaster, raised since birth to do it, the person who was going to take over the Templar knights, there is no changing a person like that.
“You three, this is not to get out until we know everything about what’s going on. Novice, I want to keep these rumors under control and make sure that the others who were there to not go talking.”
“Yes, Mentor.” he responded.
“Edward, Ezio, in the room, now.”
The three men walked into the room, the one that Altair uses to oversees the training, the missions, and the progress of the Assassins. There was a desk that had papers, maps, progress reports, new and old missions, and the profile of each Assassin, scattered all over it. Surrounding the desk there were bookshelves, four in total. The books including information on the past Assassin's, their fight against the Templars, information on the Brotherhood and its tenets. There was even some books on different fighting styles, and weapons, and techniques that only the masters could accomplish.
The three of them stood around the table, looking at each, but not saying anything. Each of them trying to read one another on what they thought about the situation. “This is a very complicated situation. Yes, there has been romance between the Assassin’s and Templars before.” Altair spoke first, breaking the silence.” But not one like this.”
Edward spoke next, “The most likely situation is that since the child’s mother had died, it is likely to assume that Azure had taken his life as well, leaving her an orphan.” He paced in the room that he had. “What should we do with her?”
Silence took over the room, none of them knew how to answer. Altair’s wife, Maria, used to be a Templar, but she turned to their side, and not many situations turn out like that. Knowing who the mother was, the Templars were going to try to get her on their side when she grows older, they had no idea if they knew about her now.
“I think we should raise her in the way of the Assassin’s, along with Connor and Aveline. That way, we can keep watch over her, and make sure she doesn’t turn to the Templars.” Ezio suggested, looking at the other men. “It would be good for the Brotherhood.”
“Yes, but what if the girl wants to contain her mother’s legacy. And who would watch over her and train her?” Edward asked.
Before Ezio could say anything, Altair came out with, “That is a good idea, Ezio. Raise her to be an Assassin. We all would train her, to have the most influence over her.” Altair looked at each of the men, “Are we in agreement?” he asked.
The two others looked at each other and nodded. That was the day Saffire’s life was decided for her.
Saffire was just 6 years old when she first chooses to start training. Some, like Edward, would say that was when the weapon told her to start training in the ways of the Assassin. Edward had taken her with him to an ally of the Assassin’s, an ally that just happened to sell weapons. She wanted to spend time with him, he seemed to look after her more than others, not in a fatherly way, that went to Ezio, but more in a…. caring way. To look out for her so she doesn’t make many mistakes, and to teach her about life.
“Edward, where are we going?” the small girl asked, gripping onto his hand as not to lose him in the crowd.
The two of them were in a more shady part of Mistral, not wanting to draw attention to themselves. The crowd that hung around there was a dangerous one, but they knew not to mess with the people who donned the hoods. Some did spare a glance to look at the child, but not saying anything about it, even if she was the only one there.
“We’re going to visit a friend little one,” Edward called her that all the time. “And don’t worry, you’ll like this one.”
“Are you sure? You said the same thing about the last one, and I didn’t like that one bit.” Saffire bit back.
Edward laughed, “Ahh. I still remember that. It was quite funny.”
The two continued without having many conversations, Saffire occasionally asking questions about the shops or people. Saffire didn’t notice what Edward was doing since she was so anormed in her environment, but what she did notice was that he kept looking behind them and on the roofs and what not. While all of this was happening, not once did they let go of each other’s hands.
When they got to the “shop”, it was getting into the evening and cooler. I haven’t been to this area yet. It’s...interesting, Saffire thought to herself.
Edward held open the door for her, and her eyes were wide when she looked at the contents in front of her. There were shelves stocked to the brim, full of medicines, poisons, and other things a doctor would typically have. On other shelves, there were necklaces, rings, and all types of jewelry. There were crystals, and books, and all types of little trinkets. The walls were lined with all sorts of weapons, like the sword, and hatchets, and knives.
“Edward! My good friend. What brings you here today?” A man, with brown hair that had some gray in it, who looked about in his early thirties, but had eyes like an old wise man, kind and inviting, appeared. “Is it this little miss here?” he asked.
“No Ash,” Edward answered. “Celeste doesn’t need anything. I need you look at my pistols.”
“Well, but of course. Bone right this way.” Ash led Edward over to a counter.
Saffire wandered over to a wall that was lined with swords, looking at them with interest. While none of them looked that interesting, a pair of them caught her eyes. She went to the case that they were in and stood on her tippy-toes to look inside. The light brown hilts were decorated in small blue and black jewels, barely noticeable. The blades were slightly curved upwards to a sharp point and shone brighter than most.
The two men noticed that she was looking at the pair of swords with great interest. They both smiled and walked over to where she was standing. She didn’t notice that they moved until Edward had crouched down to her level and she turned to look and got scared.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to get the glass dirty. I-I just wanted to look.” Saffire was quick to apologize.
“It’s okay. You were curious.” Ash reassured her. “Do you want to hold them?”
Saffire looked at Edward, and he nodded. She turned back to ash and gave him a big smile with a nod. He lifted the glass on the side and handed them to her. Teaching her how to hold them.  She was hesitant in her grip, feeling nervous to handle weapons she had only looked at. But she became more confident after getting the feel of it.
“Well, Edward!” Ash slapped him on the back. “I say she’s a natural.”
He nodded his head in agreement before turning the child. “So what do you say little one?” he smiled. “Want to start your training?” Saffire gave a big smile and started to nod her head causing the men to laugh.
Saffire was thirteen when she really learned what happened to her parents, and who they were. She overheard Altair and Ezio talking about them that day. About how it was almost the day they died and her birthday. She was never really told who her parents were, or what happened to them. And to learn that she’s named after some big-time Templar, she felt disgusted with her name, but what could she do about that. It wasn’t that best of days for her, but that all changed because of one reason. It was also on that same day she met Jacob and Evie Frye.
She kept her head down, processing the information that she had just learned of when she bumped into a body and fell down. She looked up and saw a boy with hazel eyes looking at her. The boy stood up and-and offered her a hand, helping her stand. She noticed a girl with blue eyes standing beside them.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t see where I was going.” Saffire apologized.
“It’s no trouble love.” His voices weren't that deep, but he spoke with a warm accent. “It happens to everyone.”
“Jacob, you also need to apologize. It is partially your fault.” the girl said.
“Right. My sister is right, for once. I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay like you said, it happens.”
The three teens stood in silence, not knowing what to talk about, but none of them were leaving. It was Saffire who broke the silence. “So what are you two doing here?” she asked.
“We’re here to train with our father.” the girl said. “My name’s Evie.”
The boy butted in with. “Jacob’s my name, but you knew that.” he smiled at her. “What’s your name?” he asked.
She thought for a moment, not wanting to be known as Celeste anymore. “Call me Saffire,” she answered with a smile.
“Well, Saffire, nice to meet you.” Jacob brought her in for a hug. “I can tell we’re going to be very good friends.”
Saffire smiled at her two new friends, noticing in the corner of her eye that Connor and Aveline were talking, again, while alone. Her smile faltered a bit, trying to figure out what her feelings were. I’m in love with Connor, but he likes Aveline, but that’s okay. I’ll get over it, Saffire thought. She walked away with Jacob and Evie. Maybe it wasn’t such a bad day.
It was a year later that she was named Master Assassin, the youngest ever heard of the history of the Brotherhood. She was proud, while Connor and Aveline, who were the same age of her, were still years away from achieving it. Jacob was still a few steps behind, but Evie was planning on becoming one very soon, most likely in the next year.
Edward, Ezio, and Altair congratulated her, the ones who trained her all these years. Evie and Jacob came up to hug her, while Connor and Aveline smiled at her and returned to their corner. Since she achieved this status she was going to get her own robes as well, she couldn’t wait.
The Frye twins walked with her to get her robes, wanting to see her in them before anyone else. She wished Connor came with, but that was unlikely. He and Aveline seemed to grow closer each and every day. The seamstress who worked closely with the Assassin’s smiled when she saw the three.
Saffire changed into her blue, white, and black colored robes. They fit her perfectly, and she could easily fight in them, and the colors brought the whole thing together. The hood was somewhat baggy, but she was fine with that.
The three came out of the shop together with Saffire adorning her new robes. What the group didn’t realize that one Assassin was watching out of the corner of his eye.
Saffire had come back from a mission, one that she almost failed. She was chasing her target when she noticed a group of people beating up on a boy, one that looked around her age. She knew that she could catch her target before she lost him, so she decided to help the boy. When she got a closer look, she realized it was a monkey Faunus, and she felt more inclined to help.
By the time she scared off the attackers, he looked at her with such hope, and thankfulness.
“Don’t worry, you’re safe now. YOu can go on with your life.” She smiled at him before racing off to find her target.
She had almost lost him, but she was glad that she could help out someone that was in trouble, and take a break from what she would usually do. Evie had just come back from the mission as well, one of her first since she was awarded the title of Master Assassin.
She didn’t tell anyone what happened on the mission, wanting to keep that for herself.
Connor and she were becoming closer like they were when they were younger, and for her fifteenth birthday, he gave her a necklace he made himself. She was happy and thought that he liked him back, her childhood crush.
The next, she saw Connor and Aveline in a room, alone together and it looked like they were about to kiss. She hurried and turned away, going to find one of the Fryes, and wiping away her tears.
Her and Connor grew apart but were still close, just not like before. When she had to do missions with someone, she usually chooses Jacob or Evie, or even Arno, who came here a few years ago, and he went along with Aveline.
It was when she was sixteen that she began to think about becoming a Huntress. Sure she did like helping people while with the Assassin’s, but maybe being a Huntress would be better for her, and it would take her away from Connor, and being hurt even more.
She didn’t tell Jacob, Arno, who she had become close with, and Evie, but she knew that they had the suspicions.
What she didn’t know was that Connor had his too, and his heart almost broke at the thought of her leaving.
A year later, they found out that Saffire had left for Beacon, and had only told Ezio. Jacob, Evie, and Arno had their suspicions confirmed and thought that it was good that she was going out to explore on her own.
Her heart broke when she left, but she knew it was for her own good, to forget her feelings for Connor, but none of them knew that he had felt the same way, and now he would never get the chance to tell her.

Have you ever played the game Transistor? If you haven’t it’s basically a guy gets killed protecting a girl, he is uploaded into the sword that killed him and she is able to hear him. The bad guys are basically templars and are trying to take away power from the masses for the greater good (by making a super powerful tool - the sword). She then goes on a revenge quest with the sword with him encouraging her the whole time. It is an extremely romantic revenge quest.
There is one point, while he is in the sword, where he says something like, ‘when I look up to where the sky should be, all I see is you.’
And I just sort of went, oh dear, that is SUCH a Desmond thing. So yeah lol what if Desmond is in Altair’s sword/hidden blade. Or maybe even the reverse?
Oh god, yeeessss.
That does sound like something they would say XD
Both of them could work as the sword in this scenario but, since we’ve been making Desmond into so many things (mostly animal), let’s make Altaïr the sword for this one.
To be more exact, his consciousness was placed in the Sword of Altaïr after his death.
He doesn’t know how it happened.
He remembered giving the sword to Darim years back, when his hands had gone weak and trembled at times that wielding a sword was simply too dangerous for him and those around him.
And being in the sword made him lethargic. Too weak to do anything but hear what was happening around him.
He heard Darim be with his family.
He heard Darim gifting him to his oldest daughter, his successor.
Not as a mentor but as the successor to the will of the Ibn-La'Ahad, the will to see what lies beyond the unknown.
The sword changes hands for every generation.
Parent to child until…
One of his descendants gave it to his pupil for he did not have any child of his own.
Later on, he fell to the hands of the Auditores.
To Ezio Auditore.
The one they call the prophet.
He was there when Ezio heard Minerva’s message.
He was there when Ezio found his remains.
He was there when Ezio gifted him to the next mentor of the Italian Brotherhood.
Time passed on and he continued to stay in that half-conscious state.
Only hearing.
Even when he tries to speak…
No one heard him.
The world evolves.
People moved forward.
And he soon found himself ‘worthless’ in this world of firearms and heavy machinery.
He was left to rot in a case, cared for with the love of an antiquity with historical value.
He would much preferred to be considered as a tool for death.
At least a tool had a tangible purpose.
As a display, he felt… empty.
One day, the case shattered and a hand gripped him tightly.
And brought him to the Templars.
Daniel Cross.
An Assassin that had been a Templar from the very beginning.
Altaïr knew there was more to it than what he knows but he knows nothing for that was all he heard when Cross gave him to a man named Vidic.
He was placed in an office as a decoration.
No.
A trophy.
All he could do was hear and watch as they killed Assassins and their families.
To purge the Assassins, not caring if they were the elderly or the children.
The Templars had grown more brutal and cold as time passed on.
Some of them cling to their ideology.
Others were blind with their greed for power and riches.
And Altaïr was powerless to stop them.
Powerless to stop the cruelty he hears.
Powerless to stop even just the cruelty in front of him as more and more people fell prey to the torture of the Animus.
Powerless to stop as Clay Kaczmarek stained his blade with blood, whispering to him breathlessly, “It’s okay… soon… you’ll meet him…”
Powerless as they brought the next man, his own descendant, and forced him to watch Altaïr’s own memories.
He had enough.
He had thought he would never feel such rage ever again.
But this…
All of these…
Forgiveness is a kindness Altaïr would never show them.
But he was powerless.
All he could was watch as they find the map in Altaïr’s memories.
All he could was watch as they left Desmond alive and Desmond didn’t even know it was because they plan to use him once more.
To make him trust Lucy Stillman enough to continue to play to their tune.
He watched as Lucy Stillman pretended to be his ally and took him out of his prison. Instead of taking Desmond away as quickly as they could, she orders him to lie down on the Animus once more.
But Desmond…
Desmond stared at him.
Lucy couldn’t stop him. No matter how much she tells him that they have no time and they need to be quick, Desmond didn’t listen.
Desmond walked towards him and placed his hand on his hilt.
And Altaïr…
Altaïr woke for the first time.
“Desmond…”
Lucy didn’t react.
She did not hear him.
But Desmond…
“Altaïr…” Desmond held him close and Altaïr felt his blade sharpened as it glowed lightly. The metal he had used, the very same metals that he had used in his Armor as his Apple instructed…
It hums.
No.
It sings.
“My Desmond…” Altaïr whispered back.
He knew it in what remains in him, trapped in this prison of metal and death.
Desmond was his.
The one he was waiting for…
The one who would understand Altaïr’s centuries of loneliness…
… and his thirst for vengeance…
.
.
Unorganized Notes:
Desmond and Altaïr bonds immediately and deeply because (Desmond) Bleeding Effect and (Altaïr) lack of connection and desire for vengeance. They’re very protective of one another.
Yeah, the Sword of Altaïr is a man-made POE like the Armor of Altaïr. Unlike the Armor of Altaïr, Altaïr’s conscious serves as the ‘master unit’ to unlock the metal’s more advanced functions that makes the Sword of Altaïr very similar to the Sword of Eden. The Armor of Altaïr could have served as a lite Shroud of Eden but it didn’t have a ‘master unit’ so it’s just very durable.
This is actually Minerva’s final attempts to change the Calculations after she saw Desmond die and she picked Altaïr because Ezio and Ratonhnhaké:ton are both being watched by Juno and Altaïr (with Ezio and Ratonhnhaké:ton) had the highest percentage of connecting with Desmond.
The sword is made of the same metal as an Isu weaponry so it doesn’t alarm any metal detector.
This would be more like Altaïr and Desmond going rogue and starting to destroy Abstergo facilities while taking out Templars without contacting the Assassins. It’s personal for both of them as they both have reasons to want vengeance against the Templars.
Along the way, they start to fall in love.
It is ‘muddied’ if their feelings for one another are their own or if Minerva’s hastily edited Calculations had a hand on it to keep them loyal to one another.
Regardless, Altaïr would probably say “Even if this was fate, what I feel is real. My love for you is real to me. You are all that matters to me, Desmond.” or something similar XD
Lucy would probably die in this one because Altaïr knows she betrayed the Assassins and is part of the reason why a lot of Assassins died (either directly like Clay or indirectly by giving the Templars information).
It’s because of Lucy’s death that Shaun and Rebecca (and the Assassins) would take a more antagonistic role in this one. They don’t know Desmond personally but they know he killed their friends so they might have been ordered to find and ‘capture’ him but they see him as a murdered (even though they also believe that Desmond believes her to be a Templar).

hear me out:
clay/subject 16 having a kid he didn’t know about, or perhaps maybe desmond having a second kid he didn’t know about, or even william himself somehow had the rizz to accidentally make a second kid 😭😂
I mean… when the first chapter of Black Flag’s webtoon came out, Noa is shown to have Altaïr, Eizo and Ratonhnhaké:ton as his ancestors which led to the ‘ideas’ that he could be Desmond’s son. Of course, we also thought of the idea that he can be Bill’s son as well if having Altaïr as an ancestor isn’t based on the father’s side but on the mother’s side, since he does have Japanese and Korean and one of Altaïr’s grandchildren or even an older Darim could just as easily had a paramour in Japan while they were chasing after Genghis Khan’s children/grandchildren (the easiest being in Tsushima).
So, in this case, you didn’t specify if you wanted this to be a case of Clay, Desmond or, god forbid, Bill learning they have a child which gives me an excuse to focus this on Elijah XD
For this one, we’re dealing with the canon events in the eyes of Elijah. While the whole… Layla trilogy was happening, Elijah’s been busy laying low and building some sort of super computer that used cannibalized parts from all over.
With the skills and knowledge Aita provides him, Elijah is planning to recreate the Phoenix Project, but not for Juno.
Juno was…
A prototype. Something he did under duress while he was blinded by rage and desire for revenge.
Now, he’s rebuilding it to… well, at first, it was to bring back his mother but he later learned that it was impossible.
His mother was so inconsequential to the Calculations that there wasn’t enough data about her to bring her back even if he uses his own DNA. It still wasn’t enough.
So, he decided to pivot to trying to resurrect Desmond Miles instead.
He would say it was the only logical conclusion. Desmond Miles was the human who was closest to the Isus, not like Sages like him who were haunted by the memories of those who helplessly pathetically clung to life (and yeah, he is absolutely aiming that at Aita).
And Desmond Miles had enough DNA to be recreated with the access of the Calculations…
Because Sample 17 is a complete copy of Desmond Miles’ DNA.
So… after Elijah finished the device (improved from that garbage Juno’s cult modified from Abstergo), his next course of action was to get the original Sample 17.
During his investigations of where it could be, he learned that Abstergo had been checking for more people who had interesting connection to Desmond Miles and any other Animus Subjects.
That’s how he learned that he had a younger sibling (whether this one is a sister or a son is up to you) who was being held in an orphanage under one of Abstergo’s shell companies.
Whether this child is born from a night of passion or was actually created by Abstergo itself using… other means… is up to you.
Elijah has no reason to save this child he has no connection with. For one, he already ignored Noa Kim even when he had pinged in his radar because he knew the Assassins were already dealing with that one. All he had to do was tip the Assassins off and they’d find a way to rescue this child but…
The orphanage may have other clues that will lead him to the original Sample 17.
So he infiltrates the orphanage, found the clue he needed and…
… got back to his base with three children instead of one.
Sooooo…
Apparently…
The death of Desmond Miles had been the final straw that destroyed whatever feelings William Miles and his wife had with one another.
Oh, sorry.
Ex-wife.
While he was grieving his son and not doing any of his responsibility to the Brotherhood, William Miles had a…
Elijah felt like he was going to hurl…
… one night stand.
He has no dealings with William Miles.
He only had heard of William Miles.
But that didn’t mean he wanted to learn about William Miles’ sex life.
Regardless, when he got to the orphanage, finished his actual work, and went to get his ‘new’ sibling, he learned that…
1. Said sibling had a friend who must come with them if Elijah wanted to whisk them away.
2. Said sibling had been put in charge of a baby of all things who turned out to be William Miles’ second child.
Which means said child is technically his… aunt? Uncle?
Everything had been hectic since that was divebombed at him that he didn’t have spare time to check for something so inconsequential.
So now…
Elijah had become the guardian of three young children.
… he really needs to get the original Sample 17 so he can push all of these to Desmond Miles instead.
Unorganized Notes:
The main point is that Desmond is revived to find out that he does not only have one child, but two and a younger sibling as well as another child who is definitely Clay’s child (Elijah checked) so yeah… he was resurrected by a bunch of children (well… Elijah’s like… 18 by now)
Clay gets involved because Desmond’s resurrection still has him have a connection with the Gray where Clay is and Clay can connect with Desmond while he has a POE.
This will easily moved into Clay and Desmond trying to be good parents in their own ways and trying to raise three (four if you can Elijah who does not want to be counted) children.
Does Bill learn he has another child? Your call. Or you can just have that child think of Desmond as their father and Desmond just rolls with it since he is the one raising said child.

What if after Desmond runs away from the farm instead of ending up in the city he finds himself where his ancestors are at the same age
Also side idea that I had while typing runaway Desmond ends up after the ancestors have the children who lead to Desmond so that we can have them being paternal about the kid who keeps slipping away somehow and Desmond being like "wow the people dad sent after me are rant persistent" before finding out they don't know Will at all
So I had a post about Desmond being pushed into either the Third Crusades or to Renaissance Italy when he ran away but I can’t find it TTATT It’s somewhere here in Tumblr, don’t know where though. Hopefully, I can get to it during my Tumblr posts to AO3 ‘copying’ (still in Dec 2022 XD).
Anyway, in a nutshell, that idea had Altaïr and Desmond being very close to one another because they’re both isolated and had nobody else and it would be so easy for them to tip the scale to fall onto “us versus everybody” mentality for the two of them (especially since that idea had Desmond not become an Assassin so Al Mualim is using him to keep Altaïr in check).
The Renaissance Italy idea is more light-hearted, if I remember correctly? More on the side of Desmond having a happy family life thanks to the Auditore family.
I didn’t include it but Ratonhnhaké:ton’s version of this idea was pretty much reused for the Yew Branch A New Way To Do Things.
The main idea is that, since this is a Desmond that has not been in the Animus, he has no idea who these people are and the events that will happen (hell, he won’t even be able to know their language immediately) so he’s just trying to survive and live the best he could. This means he cannot stop the tragedy that will happen (or, in Altaïr’s and Ratonhnhaké:ton’s case, he would be too late to stop it). The Renaissance Italy version could have a happier ending since Desmond would be there for the arrest though. Probably. At the very least, Giovanni would order him to take Petruccio and run, so… at least Petruccio would survive. Probably.
Now, as for the second idea.
Since this is a Desmond that never went to the Animus, he wouldn’t know how important these children are so we will have…
Sef and Darim
It would be Sef who finds him and he’s just a traveling merchant who went to Masyaf to sell his stuff. Sef would always visit him and ask him about this and that.
Darim finds him while looking for Sef and Desmond just gives him another one of the sweet breads he buys for him (and Sef).
This goes on for days until Malik finally visits his stall and talks (interrogates) him. That’s when he finally learns that the two kids he’d been talking to are the kids of the head honcho of this place. And he’s currently out and the kids are a handful (Malik may or may not imply that their parents’ frequent journeys are to blame) so he offers Desmond a job as their ‘caretaker’. Meals and lodging are included, the pay is great and Desmond is getting tired with all the traveling. Plus, Malik promises he doesn’t have anything to do with the Brotherhood.
At that point, Desmond is already fond of the kids so he agrees.
When Altaïr and Maria returned to Masyaf, they’re greeted with Malik going “I found your sons a caretaker and they might like him more than they like you. You have no one to blame but yourselves.”
Flavia and Marcello
But for this one, Desmond could be working in Firenze for a merchant that Sofia likes to go to. Flavia and Marcello would go with their mother and they’d get close to Desmond.
One time, Marcello gets lost and Desmond finds him. He brings him home and that’s how Ezio meets him…
And now for the kicker. This would be the angstiest of the three ideas to be completely honest considering how old Ezio died and the fact that Desmond doesn’t even know about his connection with Ezio during this time, which will only serve to hurt Ezio.
Io:nhiòte and her older siblings
For this one, we’ll have Desmond become part of the homestead. He got there by ‘accident’, he was just walking around and found their homestead. Luckily, Oliver and Corrine needed help in the inn so he helps out, in exchange for lodging and food.
Io:nhiòte is the one who finds him first and Desmond just plays with her and shares his food. Her two older siblings find them together and Desmond becomes close to them.
Ratonhnhaké:ton would visit the tavern one time and thank Desmond for playing with his children. Perhaps he’d try to recruit Desmond into becoming an Assassin but Desmond would say no to it which Ratonhnhaké:ton would understand.
In this one, Ratonhnhaké:ton sees Desmond primarily as his children’s favorite friend.

What are your favorite 3-5 things about each Assassin's Creed game (can be anything from design, graphics, story, characters etc.) and some things you hate about each? (And tag some friends to share as well!)
I will try to keep these as short as possible.
Assassin’s Creed
What I love:
Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad
The atmosphere and setting
The focus on the mystery for both the Third Crusades and the Modern Day
Everything the Rafiq of Damascus says
What I hate:
THERE IS NO SUBTITLE. Who in Ubisoft thought that would be a fucking good idea???
Altaïr can’t swim and I have accidentally made him jump into the waters more times than I can count.
At least tell me which part of the map I haven’t gotten the goddamn flag is.
Assassin’s Creed 2
What I love:
The prologue with the Auditores. It really makes the tragedy all the more impactful.
Armor of Altaïr!
That one trick where you can snipe your target from the rooftops by killing other guards and making him go to that specific location. XD
Punch out with the pope in Vatican.
Desmond kicking ass in the ending.
What I hate:
Fuck you Thieves’ Guild Challenges and your fucking time limits.
Actually, fuck all time limit based challenges, I’m talking to you, yeah, you, Assassin Tombs challenges. If it wasn’t for my desire to have the Armor of Altaïr and getting the plat I would have had the strength to ignore you.
Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood
What I love:
Assassin recruits and how they can do your job for you.
I will forever love how my friend tried to get me to play AC Brotherhood by showing me how I can whack people using a broom XD
Claudia becoming an Assassin <3
What I hate:
The fall of Monteriggioni TTATT
The loss of the Armor of Altaïr TTATT
Fuck you, Cesare.
Assassin’s Creed Revelations
What I love:
Altaïr.
Darim.
Altaïr being an old man going for a walk while Masyaf is under attack and just summoning ghost Assassins to take care of the Mongols XD
All of Altaïr’s memory seals in general.
Ezio’s new outfit. Fuuurrrr.
That CGI opening. Say what you want about Ubisoft, they’re one of video game companies who make the best CGI videos and trailers.
Ezio singing in that minstrel outfit XD
Ezio finally seeing Desmond’s ‘picture’
What I hate:
Yusuf’s death TTATT
Sofia ending up as a damsel in distress in the final act. At least she got to drive the getaway wagon.
Altaïr dying all alone in an empty library TTATT
Assassin’s Creed 3
What I love:
Ratonhnhaké:ton, precious boi
Ratonhnhaké:ton and Haytham having different counters and finishers. It really shows how different they move and fight.
Being able to play as Desmond!
Desmond using the Apple to force the guards to kill Vidic then using it on anyone who tries to attack him.
What I hate:
That board game. I never understood how to play it.
The unchangeable end of Ratonhnhaké:ton’s people.
William Miles in general.
Juno in general.
The ending TTATT
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag
What I love:
100% sync means Edward must pickpocket the Templars while they were talking about their plans which meant he canonically pickpocket’ed them.
Sea shanties.
The sailing gameplay in general.
Freedom Cry!
What I hate:
Blackbeard’s and Mary’s death.
I love how this shows the end of the Pirates’ Golden Age but goddamn, I hate how most of them died. I cried at the ending when Anne was singing and it shows all the friends they lost.
The reminder that even that hopeful ending of Edward and Jenny sailing back to England and the epilogue with young Haytham is nothing but a prologue to the tragedy that would soon follow Haytham’s childhood.
Assassin’s Creed Rogue
What I love:
Mortars. Rain of fire! Just keep firing mortars while strafing even if Morrigan is underleveled!
Grenade launcher and just berserking everyone and letting them take care of everything.
Hope Jensen and her Assassin robes.
What I hate:
How Shay wouldn’t have defected if they had just all sat down and fucking talked to one another.
Fucking pigeons.
Hope’s death TTATT
Adéwalé’s death TTATT
Learning my PS4 controller cannot fully tilt so Shay was never sprinting after I almost gave up on the final mission because I couldn’t catch up to Liam and I only knew about it after switching to the controller that never recognize me pressing the ‘down’ button ever and finally seeing Shay sprint for the first time.
Assassin’s Creed Unity
What I love:
Arno, the poor wet silly man.
How it shows a different kind of Assassins and Templars with the Assassins actually trying to stop the revolution while the Templars are off having a civil war with the moderates and the radicals.
The detective sidequests.
How Paris changes as the main story is progressed and the Revolution starts in full swing.
Getting the Eagle of Suger before finishing the main game and dlc and using it to make open combat easier (and one I usually wrongly write as Sugar)
What I hate:
Germaine as the final antagonist felt meh for me.
The cliché love interest dies in his arms that Ubisoft is very fond of.
Being unable to see the most horrifying glitches first hand XD
Okay, in all seriousness, how the whole trailer of Arno and the three Assassins was just a promotion for the multiplayer aspect. It would have been nice if they were part of the storyline as well.
Chevalier de Leon being a sidequest character only :(
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate
What I love:
Evie and her chameleon stealth skill XD
Jack the Ripper DLC
Everything about the Kenway manor.
Desmond the Dog <3
Lydia’s missions and the map.
What I hate:
Having to get 1st place on the carriage horses to get the platinum
The ending of the modern day where Rebecca gets shot and it's just… taken care of in the background later on.
This being the final game we see Juno being a threat and then she gets off’ed in the comics.
Assassin’s Creed Origins
What I love:
Bayek in general
Bayek using the Apple to bash a man’s head repeatedly
The cat sidequest XD
The fact that you can do the loot boxes using ingame currencies that they never implemented in Odyssey or Valhalla.
Discovery Mode.
Unicamel
What I hate:
Khemu’s death :(
Cleopatra betraying them. I knew it was going to happen, I still hated it though.
Ubisoft deciding to change how Amunet killed Cleopatra from actively killing her to just handing her the poison so she could kill herself.
Not being able to change Aya’s gear in her missions. I’d even be okay to locking it so I can only pick the so many twin daggers I have in my inventory!
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
What I love:
Kassandra shoving the cyclop’s eye in a goat’s ass and having a trophy pop up if you kill the actual goat and get the eye back.
Barnabas
The fire armor and weapon set that lets me kill enemies 10+ levels above me by just watching them burn.
The 'you fucked my padre and killed my madre' sidequest
What I hate:
Brasidas’ death TTATT
Phoebe’s death TTATT
I am so tired of the portrayal of Hades and Persephone’s relationship as being toxic and abusive.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
What I love:
Hytham
Being able to upgrade Ravensthorpe.
Orlog… I don’t know why but I enjoyed it.
France DLC with the semi-sandbox way you can assassinate targets.
What I hate:
Fuck the rock physics of this game.
The reason they decided to give Eivor so she would leave Ravensthorpe in the final chapter.
Actually, Final Chapter in general. The only thing I enjoyed in that one is learning Hytham is now teaching his own recruits.
Ragnarok DLC being a separate DLC that isn’t covered by the Season Pass.
(I haven’t finished Mirage yet so I can’t add it here, sorry)
uuuhhh, I guess I'll tag... @saberamane, and @thedragonqueen1998?

Desmond is sent back in time after the flare, but is turned into a griffin. How does this change history with his ancestor's?
Okay, so the main problem is a griffin would have the stealth stat of a steam train in Ancient Greece. If they even try to hide the eagle head, people would look because “Why is that dog all wrapped up OH MY GOD IT HAS CHICKEN LEGS!” “Fuck you, man, they’re eagle legs!”
But I like the idea of Altaïr finding Desmond as a baby griffin just a few days after his tragic fallout with Abbas. Desmond would be little enough that Altaïr could smuggle him inside Masyaf and maybe he’ll take him to the very depths of Masyaf where, later in life, his library would have been constructed. From there, Altaïr would keep visiting him and giving him food while Desmond would be trying to get used to his new body and slowly growing up. Al Mualim wouldn’t know about it because he would be too busy with his mentor duties (and, later on, too busy with the whole ‘being a Templar but planning to betray them anyway’ thing he had going for him). The one who would actually find out about Desmond would be Kadar because he has the best Altaïr radar in Masyaf (much to his brother’s annoyance) so he would be able to find Altaïr with Desmond. From there, Kadar will be his fellow secret-keeper and they’ll get close. Malik gets roped in because he’s had enough of Kadar being sneaky and followed him. His reaction was “Oh, thank Allah. They’re not having a secret affair. They’re just hiding a dangerous mythical creature underneath the fortress. That is a BETTER alternative.” From there, AC1’s plot will stay the same-ish with the addition of Kadar living because his closeness with Altaïr and all the sneaking they keep doing makes him less ‘hero-worship’ type and more of ‘I like you, Altaïr, but that’s dumb’ type towards Altaïr. Desmond would probably have his big hero moment by suddenly rushing out of his hiding place and flying around Masyaf once Malik and the Assassins he brought with him joins Altaïr in taking down Al Mualim. During that time, he’ll divebomb Al Mualim and pretty much crack the old man’s back so he would let go of the Apple. And that’s how the Levantine Brotherhood would find out there’s a freaking griffin living underneath Masyaf.
By the 15th century, the griffin would be considered a legend in the veins of “Some say the great Altaïr had a griffin by his side” or “It’s not an actual griffin. The griffin is a symbol of how Altaïr had the knowledge and drive to evolve the Brotherhood”. And then there’s the whole “The griffin is the name given to Altaïr’s Apple of Eden”. It’s the whole ‘the truth is distorted by time’ inevitability in play.
For Ezio, I have a very sad idea that I like: Ezio finds Desmond sleeping in Altaïr’s library. The entire plotline of Ezio’s Trilogy stays the same although Altaïr’s statue in Villa Auditore would be larger to accommodate the large griffin curled around his legs while the memory seals does include an actual griffin which made Ezio go “………… Yeah, okay. Why not? I already met a goddess anyway.” So, in this idea, Desmond stayed with Altaïr to the very end. Even when Altaïr tells him to go with Darim, he refuses and lies down on the ground next to Altaïr’s legs. Altaïr dies in the library after patting Desmond's head and saying “Thank you, my dear friend” to Desmond and Desmond just… sleeps. Maybe he expected to die in the library as well. Maybe he just wants to stay with Altaïr. Maybe… he just had enough of being powerless to change anything. He’s a griffin, sure, but everyone in Masyaf knows of him and they managed to chain him to stop him from saving Sef and Malik. In the end, Desmodn couldn’t save anyone. All he was able to do was help Altaïr and Darim escape after Darim found him and unlocked the chains. He shared Altaïr’s grief and, in the end, he was just as tired as Altaïr was.
When he next opened his eyes, he sees Ezio kneeling next to Altaïr’s skeletons and he let out a sorrowful sound. Ezio patted his head and said softly, “You’ve been here all this time, haven’t you? I’m terribly sorry for your loss. If you’d like… would you like to come with me?”
And Desmond says his final farewell to Altaïr and joins Ezio in his peaceful life back in Italy. Time still took Ezio away from him but, this time, he’s cared for and loved by Ezio’s wife and children. He stays more as a pet and a companion and he becomes a family secret of the Auditores.
In this scenario, I think that Desmond would leave the Auditore bloodline maybe a century or so after Ezio’s death. From there, he travels to the forest near Ratonhnhaké:ton’s village, waiting for him to be born. He regrets not spending enough time with Ezio so, this time, he plans to be there for Ratonhnhaké:ton. Perhaps a part of him wished he could find a way to help Haytham but the Haytham of his memories, of Ratonhnhaké:ton’s memories, was dedicated into the Templar cause too much for Desmond’s liking so Desmond gives up on Haytham and focuses on preparing for Ratonhnhaké:ton.
In those intervening years, Desmond becomes known as the forest spirit and his fondness for Kaniehtí:io is noted as a sign that Kaniehtí:io would do great things.
Desmond doesn’t intervene for a while to make sure Kaniehtí:io and Haytham meets and he waits until they had sex (which was awkward for Desmond) before he approached Haytham. Haytham is too surprised by his appearance that Desmond is able to nick the key from him and then leaves without saying anything. Kaniehtí:io believes that Haytham was meant to give the key to Desmond. Haytham believes that Desmond may be the ‘key’ that is needed to find what he wants.
And that is how Desmond accidentally got Haytham to keep showing up in the forest and in the village, making him realize that Kaniehtí:io is pregnant with his child.
Desmond watches as Haytham grows closer to his family and they even got married but Ratonhnhaké:ton still grows up in the village because his mother refuses to leave the tribe. Because of this, Haytham and the Templars ally themselves with the tribes and Desmond has no idea if that’s a good thing or not.
Ratonhnhaké:ton grows up knowing Haytham and being cared for by Desmond.
……… that’s as far as I got. This would probably have Haytham leading the Templars to not being such dicks during the Revolutions but, in this scenario, Desmond fucked up so badly that the tribes would actually join forces with the British and Ratonhnhaké:ton would become a Templar… with Shay Cormac as his main instructor.

I’m desperately need your thoughts on a possible idea but I’m not sure if I wanna commit. Desmond somehow finds his way to Altairs time, specifically right before Abbas begins his takeover and Des manages to save Sef and Malik. Fast forward to everyone’s return, Maria and Darim are like oh my god you’re alive and Altair is like oh my god *blushing*
Obviously Maria is cool with a third (inspired by Maria/Giovanni/Des). Altair is still in love with her but a different love than what’s going on with Des, and Sef and Darim don’t know how to cope that their father is in love and actively having sex with a man significantly younger than they are.
Bonus idea* this is the same universe as your The Relentless Pleasurable Suffering of Desmond Miles on AO3 and Darim is just ranting about everything and Sef is just sweating in the background while Des stares at him from across the yard.
Let’s set up the AC setting first, since you wish to set this after Darim assassinated Genghis Khan, we’ll have to deal with the following:
Desmond’s place in Masyaf while Altaïr and the others are away
How Abbas’ coup affects the Levantine Brotherhood as a whole
Now, we can just chuck Desmond right as Abbas finalizes the details of his coup. However, in this scenario, Abbas’ influence had been festering for a very long time now.
For his coup to be successful, he must ensure that Altaïr and his allies would be discredited to some degree beforehand.
And he has a good idea on how to do it: Altaïr’s Apple and history.
The Apple is self-explanatory at this point and I do enjoy making use of it in some of my fics, like in The Second where Abbas pretty much outright states that Altaïr is hoarding the Apple’s secret for himself.
So let’s focus on how Abbas could push others to his side by using Altaïr’s history. His main points would be:
He went rogue before and assassinated people without the permission of a Rafiq or Al Mualim (an oversimplification of what happened in Altaïr’s Chronicles)
He had failed a very important mission that led to the death of a brother and it’s only by Al Mualim’s mercy that he wasn’t killed for his failure (AC1)
He killed Al Mualim without real proof of his treachery (AC1 - this would gain him the support of those who still believed Al Mualim did nothing wrong)
He spent years away from Masyaf when he should be there, being the mentor they needed during a time of change (End of Bloodlines when he joined Maria in her travels)
Abbas would also whisper poisoned words to the Assassins who feel that their work isn’t being valued enough as the Levantine Brotherhood is structured more on the side of meritocracy. Also, at this point, there are many Assassins who are too young to remember Malik as one of the more promising Assassins in the field before Jerusalem happened. These ones would be those weak in spirit that Abbas could whisper about how Malik became the acting mentor because of his close friendship with Altaïr. Why else would they choose such a man as Malik instead of other Assassins to act as the mentor, considering what he ‘lacks’? It doesn’t matter that Malik has done more for the Brotherhood than most of them. It doesn’t matter that he has lost so much for the Brotherhood.
What mattered was that Malik is stuck taking care of what should have been Altaïr’s job high up the office while Abbas was the one on the grounds, having enough time to observe which Assassin could be turned to his side.
What about Sef then? Sef has a very deliberating factor against him. He’s Altaïr’s son. Considering his age and his current position in the Brotherhood by the time his family left for Genghis Khan, we would be around 19~20 years old when he took the role of Malik’s second-in-command. Whether this is an official position or does not matter. Sef’s high standing in the Brotherhood could be taken as another evidence of why Altaïr doesn’t deserve to be the mentor: nepotism and favoritism. If we include the idea that Malik and Sef were having an affair like in The Relentless Pleasurable Suffering of Desmond Miles, you bet there are going to be rumors about their secret affair as well which will make some of the more conservative Assassins balk.
Abbas might even stoke the flames himself.
The main reason why I spent time dealing with all that setup is that I promise that Desmond managed to save Sef and Malik (and their allies including Rauf because it’s implied his ‘sickness’ had been orchestrated by Abbas) because he immediately went to Masyaf the moment he got kicked into this time period. Desmond easily got into Malik’s office thanks to the ‘borrowed’ Assassin robes he got from the nearest bureau he found before making the trip to Masyaf and he tries to play it off like he had been made aware of a coup.
Malik isn’t stupid. He knows Desmond is not saying everything he knows but he cannot dismiss his claims as well. But, if what Desmond is saying is true, then he needs to see what can be done first.
In this case, nothing could be done.
Abbas’ claws had dug too deep into the very foundation of Masyaf itself at this point. Desmond was simply too late and the tides of change are already on their way.
What they are left with is to either hold their ground or go with the tides.
Malik chooses the later. Because he believed that Altaïr will be able to turn the tides once he returned.
Also, he cannot… he will not risk the lives of their remaining allies and their families just on the chance that they can survive the tides.
Especially his new born son and…
Sef…
(Sidenote: in this scenario, let’s make Malik’s wife his beard who knows about the affair. Hell, let’s make them each other’s beard. Malik and Sef are having an affair and they married two women who loved one another. They planned for their children to all grow up as siblings.)
So Malik gets their allies out of Masyaf. Send some of them faraway missions. Get their families to leave Masyaf to ‘visit’ relatives. Rauf’s declining health got him to send him and his family somewhere else with an explanation of ‘there’s a doctor there who might be able to help’.
Of course, Abbas isn’t stupid. He sees this happening and knows something’s up. He’s not sure just how much Malik knows but he is sure Malik knows something.
So he accelerates the timetable.
This makes it easier for Malik to see his moves though. It comes to a head where both of them tipped their hands: Abbas arranged a late meeting at night. The following dawn, Malik and Sef’s family leaves Masyaf (together with Sef).
So Abbas makes his move. No fancy false charges. No assassination attempts.
He and his coconspirators take Masyaf.
Of course, with such a blatant takeover, there are more Assassins who would not like this. Not enough to push them back as Malik had made sure the ones they are sure are allied with them were far away in Masyaf already.
(It would be later on that Altaïr would ask him why he did not simply do the opposite. Why not have Abbas’ allies be the ones sent away from Masyaf. To that, Malik would answer, “To contain a festering wound, you cut off the limb before it infests the rest of the body. Masyaf’s wound has festered far too long to be saved. Not by me.”)
And Malik was the only person truly loyal to Altaïr left in Masyaf. Everybody else was either on Abbas’ side or those who didn’t care either way.
Just as Malik planned.
Because this way, Abbas would have a prize. Abbas’ anger and thirst for vengeance would be quenched even for just a bit.
And…
Malik was betting that his death would be enough for Altaïr’s eyes to finally be opened. For Altaïr to finally do what he should have done all those years ago when Abbas used the Apple during the burning of Al Mualim’s body.
For Altaïr to finally let go of his childhood hope that Abbas would finally see the truth and they could reconcile their shattered friendship.
Even if it wasn’t…
Malik was betting that Sef would avenge his death.
And that’s when Desmond comes in and saves him. Malik is unsure how Desmond was there when he specifically ordered Desmond to ride to Alamut to tell the Assassins there about Abbas’ plans and to ask for sanctuary for their allies.
Desmond did that… by sending a pigeon then keeping an eye on things in Masyaf all in an effort to find a good time to assassinate Abbas (didn’t work. Abbas had become too paranoid because of all the moves Malik had made).
Malik is the one who stops Desmond from killing anyone, tells him that doing so would further fracture the Brotherhood.
So they run.
They meet up with their allies in Alamut and that’s where they stay, sending pigeons to all the bureaus and other Brotherhoods about what has happened in Masyaf.
(And on this part a scene between Malik and Sef concerning Malik’s plan and Sef chewing him out for it)
And it’s in Alamut that Altaïr and the others go to after their mission was done.
Just enough time has passed that Desmond was able to store the important memories in the memory seals in Alamut for Altaïr to watch.
No matter what questions they ask Desmond, he refuses to answer any of their questions.
Because he wants to tell Altaïr first.
He wants Altaïr to be the one to know who he truly is.
More than anything, he wants Altaïr to be the one to decide his fate in this world he finds himself in.
Unorganized Notes:
We can go either way with how this pairing would work. Either we make this full on Altaïr/Desmond/Maria where Desmond becomes both of their lovers or this is more of a case of Desmond being Altaïr’s lover and having a close friendship with Maria.
If you prefer for Desmond to be Altaïr’s lover alone, it could be that Altaïr and Maria’s relationship had changed. They still love one another but they feel no urge for anything physical anymore. But Altaïr felt it once more for Desmond.
In this scenario, Altaïr and Desmond would start their relationship only when Maria gives her blessing. Before that, there’s gonna be pining on both sides that everyone could see.
Once they start their relationship, it’s gonna be tricky because Altaïr wouldn’t want to hide Desmond at all while Desmond would want to hide their relationship because he knows Abbas could use their relationship to further smear Altaïr’s reputation.
And that is when Altaïr decides to do what he had always been planning to do: retire.
There will be the 12th-century version of “Oh god, he’s finally having his midlife crisis” outrage, and the fact that Altaïr is doing this AFTER Abbas’ coup will be fanning the flames even more.
So they make a compromise that Altaïr will retire once they get Masyaf back but he also makes preparations for his final contribution: to push the Brotherhood back to the shadows.
At that point, the plot can either: focus on the plans to get Masyaf back or on Altaïr and Desmond’s developing relationship. (Pick one and the other one will become the background setup, kinda like plot B)
Darim and Sef would have an awkward relationship with Desmond. Darim more awkward than Sef as Sef would play off the awkwardness by joking “should we call you ‘father’ as well?”
Sef is honestly ‘oh okay’ son in this scenario because he is in a similar situation with Malik.
Oh yeah, Altaïr and Maria knew about their relationship BEFORE they went to assassinate Genghis Khan. They were just waiting for Sef and Malik to fess up.
They still gave them hell and Altaïr enjoyed giving the shovel talk to Malik just for the hell of it.
Malik turned the table on him later on by saying that, since Desmond is technically an orphan (“He’s an adult, Malik.” “Who needs someone to keep an eye on him and it’s certainly not going to be you. How much have you spent on the gifts you’ve given him this past month, hm?”), he gave Altaïr the shovel talk as well since he is the ‘adult’ (“Again, he’s an adult as well”) who had worked closely with Desmond the most.
I do have the habit of making Darim have a crush on Desmond so if you want Darim to be super awkward, make him have a crush on his father’s lover. XD
Darim ranting about Altaïr and Desmond’s relationship to Sef is funnier when you remember Darim knows Sef and Malik are secretly lovers. Darim had assisted Sef more than once in making sure Altaïr didn’t know about it so he’s ranting to Sef knowing Sef can relate to Desmond more than anyone in Alamut. He’s doing it on purpose to make his little brother squirm.
Maria would definitely have tea parties with Malik and Desmond. Desmond dubbed it the “Altaïr Support Club” and the name stuck.
If Maria is part of the pairings, pegging will be involved. Desmond would definitely be the most bottom of the three of them and there will definitely be scenes where Maria or Altaïr watches Desmond getting the life fucked out of him.
Also…………… kinky sex making use of the Apple’s hallucinations and mind control capabilities.
