Mash digs the grave herself.
The soil is too hard for any of the staff to lend a hand. With the contract broken, Mash doesn’t have any more strength than the average human either, but what she lacks in power she makes up with stubbornness. The result is a shallow, dirty mess, which will surely be unearthed after the first rain. But this is the only thing she can give.
She wants to lower the body too, but the effort of digging took too much out of her. The Chaldea staff does it in her stead. Meunière spreads a blanket over the trunk, hiding most of the injuries. Like this, it almost looks like Senpai is sleeping.
For a moment, there is nothing but silence. No one wants to be the first one to speak.
Eventually, Director Goredolf steps forward. “I… know I have not known the Master of Chaldea for long, compared to some of you. But they were still- very influential to me. I owe them my life, multiple times over.” Mash remembers- the first time he stepped into Chaldea. The arrogance and disdain dripping off his every word. There is none of that right now. He looks down at the corpse, pain all over his features.
“We disagreed on many things.” The New Director continues. “But they were- truly, one of the bravest, one of the strongest, one of- of the kindest people I have ever met. They were… a splendid human.”
Yes. Senpai… was a human. Despite what anyone might think, mage or demon pillar or servant- they were a human. Just a simple, ordinary human.
And ordinary humans die when they are killed.
“Senpai was…” What can she even say here? How can one summarize an entire life, and entire relationship, in a handful of words? Nothing she can could possibly be enough. Nothing she can say can possibly give them justice. “They were… my first friend. My best friend. They were… they were everything to me.”
And now they’re gone.
She had lost the doctor. She had lost Da Vinci. Through everything, through everything- they had been the one person she could always lean on.
And now she is the last one.
“I…” Her voice cracks, then. Her whole body seizes, overtaken by grief, and she hiccups a sob.
It’s like a dam has broken. One by one, the people around the grave start weeping as well. Director Goredolf stands quietly, tears streaming down his face. Meunière wails, a profound, broken sound from the depth of his soul. Sion closes her eyes, huffs, then punches a nearby tree.
“Damn it,” she hisses, “damn it all!”
So, this is it. This is the end. Without anyone with Master affinities, they’re all doomed. Without servants, none of them have the firepower to survive this.
Still, they have to try. To honor their sacrifice, if nothing else-
“Oh thank god I found you guys in time.”
The entirety of the Chaldea crew turns at the same time, facing the voice. The sight renders Mash speechless.
Senpai stands among the bushes, well and alive, while their corpse lies barely a few feet away.
Their gaze goes from Mash, to the grave, to Mash again. “Ah. This is. Really awkward.”
“You-”
Mash doesn’t know who spoke up, and she doesn’t care. Senpai jumps into the clearing, hurrying towards them. “Look, I’m really, really sorry, but I’m kind of on a time limit here. I give it maaaybe two hours until Benni-Enma tracks me down, three if I’m lucky and she fights the Wild Hunt on the way for custody over my soul. So. Uhm. Can I ask you guys to grieve me later? Please? We have to move now.”
“You are dead.” It’s Director Goredolf this time. He looks like he’s been hit by a truck. “You- you are dead. We buried you.”
“I know.” They smile at him, because why wouldn’t they? “But if you don’t move now, you all will die too. Please. I can’t help you guys as much as I used to. I don’t know how long it takes to crawl out of an underworld. We need to do as much as possible while I’m here.”
Mash recognizes that attitude. They’ve been like that for as long as Mash can remember. Always looking forward. Sometimes, it felt like if they paused for a second, if they looked back even once- they would die. Like a shark, at risk of drowning the second it stops moving. Sometimes, it felt like they were running at full speed, because the road beneath their feet was crumbling, and if they thought back on their losses, if they spent too long reminiscing, they would fall apart with it. Senpai is urging them all to do the same now- Eurydice begging Orpheus to leave her behind, to just move, move, move, crawl as far as they can, to keep their sorrow in until they’re safe to express it.
Mash hates it. She hates it like she has never hated anything before.
But they are running out of time.
She reaches out, grabs Senpai’s arm. She’s still crying, but she refuses to let the tears blurry her sight. “Lead the way, Senpai.”

If they let Kadoc in the summer event this year the Barbie meme is exactly how it would go down. Actually the Barbie meme, is basically also Goredolf and the rest of Chaldea.
Oh and not related to the Barbie meme, but an Au where Kadoc also survives the explosion in the beginning. The angst/hijink potential of that in a Kadoguda would be amazing. Kadoc self esteem getting worse because here is this nobody being the best master while he struggles. Ritsuka and her imposter syndrome because yes the servants love her but she feels like she stole Kadoc's place. Kadoc slowly falling for her but not saying anything when he notices her crush on Romani. Kadoc getting hunted down by every servant because they're jealous because one day they'll get unsummoned but he'll stay by her side. Kadoc nearly combusts with the Halloween/summer/Christmas events and by the lostbelts he still thinks he's the only sane man but Goredolf tells him he is very much not, because what you mean you tried to convince Liz to become a Rock idol instead.
how did you manage to include all my interests in one AU WHO ARE YOU WHO ARE YOU
BUT youre so CORRECT WTH please send papa goredolf to the spa to the relax XD XD but enma tei can still be a very chaotic place sakjfnskjdbkjdb
THAT AU!!! I WANT TO WRITE IT SOMEDAY!!!! ive been really thinking about an Au like that and i saw there is kirsch version with gudako in ao3. its interesting!
i think kadoc would be crippled for a few months...almost a year? but physical therapy with the medical team can help! and yes, i think in-singularity events would most likely be the same, ONLY!!!
ritsuka has kadoc's advices and tips.
at first, of course he doesnt like it, he feels useless already. he's bedridden for a few months, for some unknown reason his circuits wont work, his faily crest is still there though, his sirius light is there but it doesnt feel like its really there, so he feels hopeless with nothing but da vinci, dr roman, mash to visit him and treat him like glass... and the newbie who suddenly rose to the top all because she managed to avoid the explosion. what luck.
fujimaru calls him "senpai" as mash always did to the girl. as hes stingy, he refuses, constantly guilt trips this happy go lucky idiot, hes constantly envious of their position, he watches the records of the singularity, how clumsy and stupid she is, and why the hell does she keep befriending sentient weapons capable of annhilating half a country. hes pretty surprised fujimaru hasnt died yet in the first singularity...
but then-
he hears his favorite rock music blasting loudly in fujimaru's earphones while excitedly talking to nightingale, who was in charge of the infirmary.
"oi, shitty kouhai," he parts the curtain to catch the red-haired girl's attention. like lanterns in the night, her eyes brightened, "ah! senpai! what's up?"
ugh. he needs to hear that song again and see the last update his second favorite band made. after all, they released a song on the day of the explosion. just when he planned to privately see their livestream after the rayshift test was over. it was seriously unfortunate that he was out cold for almost a month.
soon enough, just as he asked to hear what fujimaru was listening to, she lit up at the prospect of him being a rock music fan. and yes, he begrudgingly admitted it but at least it got him her phone (which she gladly lent. jesus christ she really is an overly trusting idiot) which was nothing but hundreds of songs in different genres, which surprisingly had some of his favorites in it. and unable to help himself, he took a look at her gallery, and again, had nothign but pictures of her bonding with the servants, and mostly mash, da vinci and then...
huh, in all of the doctor's pictures, all of her shots are taken at really good angles.... he skips all that and huffs, opting to enjoy listening to the music as he studies and recovers in bed, half-hoping that the idiot would come back soon so he could merely ask her about the true names of the servants in her gallery and why she doesnt have any pictures of her family friends or siblings and relatives prior to her life her at chaldea
wait I HAVE TO STOP i will ramble about the idea at this point!!!!!!! thank you so much for kadoguda AU idea T-T its so good!!!!
and i love to give kadoc a stroke and maybe some tumor so he will witness a lot of Bullshit in many events that he will become incrasingly tired instead of building of immunity. his peaks of stress is visibly seen, as you said, in halloween, christmas, and summer, all of which he intends to lock himself in his room but gets dragged along with ritsuka becase he certainly is Not Weak when it comes to her
i think i wanna have kadoc also summon anastasia though! he deservves to see her again no matter the AU imo TvT
i think kadoc would be a tiny bit jealous with romaguda! especially if its requited! kadoc would maybe call gudako from afar while shes talking and laughing with romani, or maybe theres also a hint of reverse...? now i want to see jealous romani lmao
if that happens, i think maybe it would be in a scenario where kadoc and ritsuka are having their moment, and romani suddenly appears out of nowhere and says, "Would you mind if I talked to Ritsuka for a little while?"
MAYBE just MAYBE he emphasizes how he is on first name basis with her while kadoc refers to her on last name basis.... so ahHHHH my feels!!!! jealous romani is seriously good if you put him in a certain situation!!!
anyways, thank you for ask! i didnt expect it but it made me happy!! someday i will write kadoguda with romaguda in it!!!

Fujimaru: Hey Mash, you ever see something that changes your life and you're just like "huh.."
Mash: I saw you, Senpai.
Fujimaru: Wow that's so sweet....Dang, well now it kinda makes this awkward because I was gonna show you a picture of Da Vinci in a TMNT costume.

Happy Birthday Mash Kyrielight!
Tumblr media
July 25th is our dear Kouhai's birthday! To celebrate, we're going to take a second to celebrate everything Mash. We're taking a look back at our Mash builds so far, and checking to see if they cut the mustard compared to the OG. Check it out below the cut! You can also check out her D&D build here, her PF2E build here, and her FGO build here!
We're just gonna keep this little competition simple; we're judging the Mashes based on three categories: how good can they fight, how good can they tank, and how good they are at delivering exposition to their senpai!
Without any further ado, here we go!
We'll start off with the clear loser of the physicality section, DND!Mash. Her shield only does 1d4 damage, she never gets more than 16 strength, and while dumping her constitution is great to thematically show her growth as the game progresses, it's terrible for, y'know, playing the game. PF2E!Mash is slightly better, with higher damage and more mobility, but there's simply no way either of them could hope to keep up with FGO!Mash. She's a servant, a walking army, she can send people flying with a flick! Maybe if we did an Exalted build, but D&D and Pathfinder aren't really equipped to make Servant-tier servants.
As for tanking- it's FGO!Mash, I'm not even going to insult you by dragging it out. DND!Mash struggles to force opponents to target her, though she has good direct defense, PF2E!Mash can cover the entire team easily with tons of reactions, but like. FGO!Mash is the game-defining tank. While other 1st-year servants got strengthenings, Mash had to be nerfed and she's still good. If you want to survive a long fight, you bring Mash, no questions asked.
Finally, we've got exposition. Once again, D&D!Mash is at the bottom. Know Your Enemy is just about the only expositing feature she has, and it takes a minute of hanging out with someone to work. So basically, it doesn't work if you're actually in a fight. Maybe it's just because this Mash was the first build we did that she's coming in last every time. Maybe we should make an Ortinax version... Anyway, FGO!Mash knows a lot from books, but she's carried in this category a lot by Da Vinci and Romani. Since her exposition had to be baked into her kit, PF2E!Mash actually wins out this time, with a silly amount of features to find and figure out things so she can loredump for Guda.

The Ascension Trials.
In Scholomance, they are a bi-yearly event where 42 prospective magi summon Heroic Spirits to act as Servants and engage in a free-for-all to be the last seven standing so that they may earn the privilege of being called a Magus and join one of the Six Houses that effectively rule over the city.
Lemuria. Ys. Valhalla. Elysium. Aztlan. Dorado.
These Six Houses control nearly every aspect of the city that has come to see magecraft as normal in their daily lives, seemingly defying the very prospect of Mystery that supposedly defines the art. To this city, the battle of Masters and Servants has become akin to a spectator sport, a grand event where the pinnacle of magecraft can be seen in action, and where futures are either built or violently torn down.
Of course, no mere Holy Grail can supply such vast amounts of prana. For the Six Houses, the Holy Grail’s “miracles” are like child’s play. What fuels these trials is something greater, the very foundation upon which the city of Scholomance thrives - a source of prana so great that one might think they’ve re-entered the Age of Gods.
Yggdrasil.
A massive tree at the heart of the city, named after the Norse tree of legend, its luminescent leaves illuminating the underground cavern’s roof so brilliantly that it seems as though the sky had been forged anew beneath the earth. Consuming od and producing prana like a normal tree might breathe carbon dioxide and exhale oxygen, it is the source of the incredible feats of magecraft that the surface world could only dream of.
But such immense power has always attracted those who covet it. From the Mage’s Association in 1883, who waged war on Scholomance in an effort to claim the city and its heart for themselves, to numerous individuals who thought to usurp control of Yggdrasil from the Six Houses, all have failed.
...Until recently.

The sound of the automated door to your room can be all it takes you to awaken, these days, at least on the mornings where you didn’t fall too deeply into sleep. It’s usually the days where you’ve had so little to do that you don’t need much rest, and the past week or so has been another one of those days.
“Good morning, Senpai. Did you sleep well?”
It’s the ever-familiar voice of your punctual lavender-haired alarm clock, Mash Kyrielight. You answer in the affirmative, sitting up rather easily and rubbing the sleep from your eyes. Being in a more familiar-looking environment has done wonders for your comfort while sleeping, after all; having a room like your old one at the original Chaldea has made things much easier than sleeping in the Shadow Border, even though it wasn’t all that different. It was just nice to have some measure of stability, again.
“Da Vinci wants to see us in the Command Room once you’ve gotten dressed and eaten, Senpai. It seems they’ve found a new Singularity while we prepare for the next Lostbelt.”
Another Singularity... It worries you that, despite the presence of the Lostbelts, new Singularities continue to appear here and there. For the most part, they’re minor, and tend to go away on their own, but you’ve come across a few that have been rather stubborn, for one reason or another. Still, you’ve been through enough of them that you acknowledge it, asking Mash if she knows anything more about it as you change in your changing room.
“Only that it’s somewhere in Romania... I’m afraid I don’t know any more than that, I’m afraid.”
Romania... You briefly wonder out loud if it’ll have anything to do with Vlad III, to which Mash seems to pause and think, still silent as you emerge in fresh clothes.
“I don’t think so... The staff seemed oddly serious, so if it was something relatively routine like that, I don’t think they’d be so concerned.”
Hearing that did cause you to tense up a bit; was something unusual about this Singularity? You immediately recalled the four Singularities that had been caused by the Demon Pillars before the Crypters’ attack on the original Chaldea, and felt more worried than before - something that Mash immediately caught on to.
“Oh, but I don’t think it’s something so serious! It’s probably just a slightly unusual case! It should be fine!”
You can’t help but chuckle a bit at Mash’s attempts to ease your worries; sure, something in your gut still tells you that something’s not quite right, and that this will be far from routine, but at least you’re reminded that something not being “routine” hasn’t ever stopped you from succeeding before.
(♫)
As you arrive in the Command Room after eating, you’re greeted by the familiar sight of Da Vinci, Sion, Goredolf, and Holmes, all awaiting your and Mash’s arrival. After a brief exchange of greetings, Sion is quick to get down to business.
“So, as Mash has likely informed you, we’ve detected another Singularity, and as you’ve likely guessed, we called you here because this one doesn’t seem likely to just go away on its own.”
You nod and affirm that this is far from your first rodeo, after all. All you need to know is where and when you’ll be going, what Servants you’ll be taking with, and what the objective is, after all. Sion grins in response, replying positively about your confidence, only for the usually-jovial Da Vinci to frown.
“Unfortunately, we can only provide you one of those points at this moment... The where and when.”
Confused, you ask her what she means, to which Holmes interjects.
“What Da Vinci means, is that we’ve detected the Singularity in the present day, approximately 15 miles underneath the Transylvanian mountains in Romania. A couple of our engineers have taken to calling it ‘Scholomance’, after the legendary school of magic supposedly ran by the Devil that was supposedly in that location. Aside from that... what information we’ve been able to uncover has been rather disconcerting.”
Disconcerting? The fact that it has the entire team worried - save Sion, who remains her usual self, either through having no lack of confidence or nerves of steel - immediately puts you on edge, and you ask what the problem is, to which Da Vinci replies.
“Our tools aren’t picking much of anything up, unfortunately. Only a few things; first, that the amount of prana at the location is almost akin to the levels observed during the Age of Gods, nearly matching the Atlantic Lostbelt in sheer prana density. Second, there are a lot of Heroic Spirit signatures. And we mean a lot.”
Goredolf, perhaps predictably, almost instantly panics after Da Vinci’s explanation.
“Wait, you don’t mean that there’s going to be hundreds of Servants to fight?! We can’t send our primary Master Candidate into that! It’s practically suicide!”
You’re more curious as to just how many there are, exactly - after all, “hundreds” seems like something of an exaggeration, a notion that Mash agrees with, and Holmes is all too happy to clear things up.
“Indeed, but it’s still no insignificant number. The last time we checked, there were over 30 Heroic Spirit signatures being observed, and the number has since dwindled to just over 20. Thus, we can surmise that they’re not all allied together, and are instead fighting one another.”
The news does calm Goredolf, but Da Vinci’s expression is still one of concern.
“Of course, that doesn’t mean things are safe for you. More likely than not, sending you in will mean that you’re likely to end up in the middle of a massive Holy Grail War of some kind. It’s not something you’re unused to, of course, but the fact that we can’t detect anything else is the real problem. When we send you in, it’ll likely take everything we have just to keep your existence verified; unless you can find a way to clear up our connection, I’m afraid you’ll be without support from Chaldea.”
That was the part you’d been dreading to hear. Of course, you’d done things without backup before, but it was always much more reassuring to have Da Vinci, Holmes, and Sion there to help you figure things out... Still, you nod in understanding with a grim expression. It won’t be easy, but when has your job ever been easy? In response, Da Vinci’s expression finally relaxes and Sion gives you one of her signature smiles and a nod in return.
“You’ll be fine! And hey, since we don’t have any recommendations on who to bring, why not grab a few of your more recent summons? Let them get their feet wet, so to speak, and get used to working with them in a real Singularity!”
You can't help but agree; there's a few of your newest Servants you've been looking forward to working with, so you already have a few in mind. Taking your leave to go and locate them, it doesn't take long for you to rendezvous in the rayshift chamber. Naturally, coming with you is Mash with her Ortinax gear, but there's four other Servants beside you, some more eager than others, as you enter the coffins and prepare to rayshift...

Codex Chaldeas: Dia de Los Muertos
Dia de Los Muertos is a special holiday celebrated in Mexico to honor those who have been lost. People use the holiday to celebrate people who aren't around anymore, and think back to all the good memories you had with them. Usually offerings would be made to the person, either on their tombstone or on a special altar known as an Ofrenda.
Rex and Nota, had decided to celebrate Dia de Los Muertos in remembrance of someone they had recently lost: Romani. The two had never really celebrated before, neither Rex or Nota's parents seemed willing to celebrate themselves, so Rex and Nota learn from external sources tho they seem to understand well enough.
A simple Ofrenda was set up, with a photo of Romani along with some candles, some flowers, and an offering of his favorite cake. The same cake the cousins caught him eating their first day at Chaldea.
"Oh! What's this now?" Suddenly, Da Vinci came into the room, and commented on the Ofrenda. "Is that the good doctor I see?"
"Oh yeah! We were setting up an Ofrenda for Dia de Los Muertos." Nota explained to the genius. "It still needs a bit more."
You'd then see Rex adding a picture of Olga Maria as well onto the Ofrenda. "Can't forget about her, after all."
You then see Mash enter the room too. She was then a little bit surprised by the ofrenda. "Oh senpais! Is this one of those ofrendas?" She asked them.
"Yeah! We decided we wanted to make one to remember them." Rex told her.
"It is said that on Dia de Los Muertos the spirits of the dead come back to visit their loved ones that night. And while I don't think we'll literally see Romani and Olga tonight, it'd be nice to think of seeing them again" Nota elaborated.
Later that night, Rex and Nota were still up, watching movies tho getting sleepier. They were getting so sleepy, they almost miss the sight that happens before them. What looks to be a Skeleton with red hair tied in a ponytail. "Hey you two! You seem tired. Been getting enough sleep since I left?" The skeleton asked.
When Rex and Nota realize what was going on, they bolted up. "ROMANI?!" they both asked simultaneously.
"In the flesh! Er, I guess 'bones' would be the proper term." He said to the cousins. "Definitely didn't expect this to happen, if I'm being honest with you."
"Yeah! Neither did we!" Nota exclaimed in excitement and disbelief. "Is this some kind of magic or something?!" She asked.
You then saw Rex run towards the door saying "I need to tell Mash and Da Vinci!" Before leaving.
"S-so how have things been while I've been gone?" Romani asked Nota.
But instead of giving an answer, she proceeded to hug him tightly, while tearing up. "Th-they've been ok…" she said.
Romani hugged her back while smiling. "Glad to hear it" he said back to her.
You then see Rex return with Mash and Da Vinci following. "Senpai, what is it you need us to see so la-" then she saw Romani again, freezing in place after seeing him.
"Mash! Da Vinci! It's good to see you two aga-" Romani was starting to say, before being immediately getting knocked over by Mash tackling him in a big hug, while tears flowed down her face.
"D-doctor!" She said, crying very hard at seeing him again. "You're back! You're really back!"
Da Vinci walked up towards the sight of the happy reunion. "I definitely didn't think this would actually happen." She said.
Romani looked up to her, while still holding Mash. "I'll be honest, neither did I" he said.
After a bit of catching up, two more people enter the room. Quetzalcoatl, and her sister Xolotl. "Oh what's this?!" Quetz asked. "The good doctor has returned for Dia de Los Muertos?!"
"Si! He's actually back! He's back for the night!" Rex exclaimed to Quetz.
The twin goddesses smiled gently at this. "That's so nice to see! What a miraculous Dia de Los Muertos!" Xolotl cheered!
As everyone cheered, Quetz leaned a bit closer to her sister, whispering to her "Did you manage to do this?"
"Si, managed to find his soul and since it's Dia de Los Muertos, I was able to bring him back for the day!" Xolotl whispered back.
Then Quetz whispered another question "but what about the director that was lost too?"
"I couldn't find her soul for some reason, so I couldn't bring her back!" She explained.
"That's odd. But let's not worry about it!" Quetz then responded back to her sister.
"Si! Let's just be happy tonight!" Xolotl agreed.
That night, everyone was very happy to see their beloved doctor for one more night, reminiscing on their past memories with him from the Grand Order and catching him up on what had been going on with the Pseudo singularities and so on.
But of course, all good things must come to an end. The sun started to rise, and it was time for the good doctor to return to the dead.
"Do you really have to go?" Mash asked him. "You can't stay longer with us!?"
"I'm sorry Mash, but his time has passed and Dia de Los Muertos is over." Xolotl explained.
"It's okay Mash" Romani said. "I had fun seeing you again! I'm so proud of the strong and independent girl you've become!"
With tears in her eyes, Mash gives her father figure one last hug. "I'm glad I got to see you again too!" Mash said back.
And right before Xolotl took him back to the realm of the dead, he looked back to the cousins. "Take care, you two! And please look after Mash for me."
"We will!" Rex responded.
"Don't worry, she'll be fine." Nota said back.
"You ready?" Xolotl asked the good doctor.
"Ready as I'll ever be." He answered.
Then just like that, they were gone in a flash of light. Eventually Xolotl would return on her own, and it was time to continue on like normal.
"I didn't expect that to happen at all." Nota said to Rex.
"Yeah, that was very surprising. I would've assumed the whole dead visiting the living again thing wouldn't be so literal." He responded back to her.
"Think it'll happen again next year?" Nota asked him.
"I'd like it if it did. We could catch up even more with him. It'd be nice if this could happen every year." He thought out loud.
"Yeah. Well, until then let's just keep going for the doctor's sake!" She said
"Yeah!" Rex answered back.
Then Rex suddenly came to a realization. "Hey wait a sec."
"Hmm? Something wrong?" Nota asked him.
"I didn't think about it at the time, but we shouldn't Olga have been there too? If the ones on the Ofrenda are supposed to return on that night?" He asked.
"Oh that's a good point. Why didn't she show up?" She pondered.
"Well, we can think on it another time maybe." Rex stated.
"Sure, why not. I need to eat anyways" She finished.
There we go! A day of the dead fanfic!
...a couple days late. I know it's late, but it's here now at least! Hope those that celebrated enjoyed their's and hope you all enjoyed this fic!

rereading gilgamesh interludes, for some reason I’d always remembered little gil being strangely meaner to romani than the adult one on mash’s behalf but with the full knowledge of everything, it’s kinda impossible to tell if he was actually talking about mash or doing some kind of wink wink nudge nudge double speak on solomon and calling doctor out on projecting on mash’s circumstances
especially when romani is like “mash is a dutiful kid raised in chaldea” and gil-kun goes all “an aptitude that’s forced on you is a curse” like the savage he is... that was ooof man... so much oof.....
...FUCKING OOOF
and adult gil actually wasn’t mean at all? like, he calls mash foolish and guda a mongrel but he basically lets romani get away with talking smack at his face? like... compared to how demurring and downplaying he is with other servants, romani is straight up impudent with gil and gil just... shrugs it off? doesn’t even really get annoyed or somewhat miffed? GILGAMESH? WHO ARE YOU? I DON’T KNOW YOU?
there’s also how it feels like romani actually REALLY FULLY GENUINELY trust and respects gil-senpai in a backhanded way while rightfully thinking he’s a terrible role model for his kids which is??????? making me feel things? especially since romani is actually kind of a fake bitch with anyone who’s not da vinci-chan or merlin?
and then there’s caster-gil who’s just a concerned tsundere grandma genuinely doing something nice  under like five levels of jackassery???
honestly tho even without playing fgo, everyone with prior knowledge on how gilgamesh rolls must’ve caught on to romani being a real freak of nature anomaly when he can just go around casually having shouting matches with gilgamesh in the babylonia anime?
all in all, it always kinda feel like all versions of gilgamesh were consistently interacting with romani as an equal under all the gilgameshitude and the whole thing was just a great way of sneakily establishing a character’s standing through a previously established character? gold star for nasu

Wooden Ring (Hektor x Reader)
Note: The story happens after Yuga Kshetra.
"Happy Birthday, Senpai!" Mash brought a birthday cake with candles on lit to you. You were astonished as you look at your Servants and Chaldea staff. Even after the whole world was bleached, everyone still remembered to celebrate your birthday. Without your realization, a few droplets of tears ran down your cheeks.
"Ah.. thank you guys... even after all of this you still remember... I.." As you broke down crying, Boudica rushed to your side and tried to calm you down.
"It's okay, Master. It's okay..." You can feel a gentle warmth as Boudica hugged you, sometimes she reminded you of your mother. After you feel better, you let go of her and said your thanks once again to the Queen of Britannia.
"No problem, big sister is ready to lend a shoulder to cry on, okay?" Her smile somehow lighten your mand you stopped crying entirely.
"Anyway, let's celebrate your birthday! I made this cake with Director. He was very eager to help me, you know?"
"Wait! I thought you promised not to-"
"Is that true, Director?" You stared at Goredolf in awe. You saw a blush creeped on his cheeks
"Yes, so what!? This is just my repayment for what happened in the Chinese Lostbelt and Tokugawa labyrinth incident, so don't get the wrong idea! Alright!?" You merely smiled at his excuse, as you expected Goredolf was a nice guy deep down. He wasn't as arrogant as you thought when you met him for the first time during the inspection.
"Yes, yes, I know. Thanks, Director. I'll make sure to work harder next time."
"You better be!"
"Anyway, let's blow the candles. Senpai, please make your wish!"
You approached the cake and close your eyes to pray for your wish. After you were done, you blew out the candles and everyone cheered and clapped their hands happily.
"What are we waiting for? Let's hit the party!" Fergus shouted and followed by a few Servants.
.
.
.
The party was lively. Kiyohime happily cut the cake for you, Fergus along with Drake and Blackbeard had a friendly beer drinking contest, Astolfo brought a lot of food for Sieg and insisted him to try every food that they brought, David played the guitar and Mata Hari was dancing to entertain others. Everyone was happy, you couldn't help but smile as you saw everyone enjoyed the party.
"Did you have fun, Master?" Your thought broke as a certain middle-aged Servant spoke to you.
"You can say that. I'm already happy to see everyone enjoying the party. But, how about you, Hektor?" You asked back. The General of Troy who was also your lover merely smiled solemnly.
"As I want to have fun, for some reason I can't." He took a sip of alcohol then continued, "When I was alive, I'm not a stranger to assassination attempts. They tried to kill me multiple times even when we have a party just like this."
"Sorry to hear that... It must be difficult as you're a crowned prince and politician."
"Well, it doesn't matter anymore. I worry about you more."
"Huh?"
"This old man is just an ordinary and plain Servant, I don't care what will happen to me as long I can fulfil my duty and responsibility, but...." Hector gave you a serious look, you can saw a tint of anger on his olive orbs.
"You're different, Master. You're just a normal human yet you have many enemies and they are willing to get rid of you for their own good. I still couldn't forgive myself for what happened to old Chaldea and the poisoning incident. Even if you don't blame me, I'm still guilty for failing to protect you."
You fell into silence as you were reminded of those accidents that almost took your life. You avoided eating cake after Koyanskaya attempted to kill you but after two months you were fine and didn't mind eating the cake that was served to you. But, Chaldea massacre? You were traumatized until now. The ruins of Chaldea and dead bodies haunted your memory permanently, your blood always ran cold every time you remember how Rasputin killed Da Vinci with that emotionless gaze.
"That's why..." Hektor placed his drink on the nearest table and took your right hand, he kissed the command spell gently. His hardened gaze became softer and the anger you saw back then was gone into thin air and replaced by determination.
"This time I swear to never leave your side until you can take back your world. This body, this heart, and the lance that I hold shall protect you."
You were taken back by his words. You knew despite his laid back and lazy attitude, he was very serious if it was about protecting someone and to do that he was willing to put his life at stake. That dedication led you to fall for him.
"Ah, Master that reminds me. I have a gift for you."
"A gift?" You raised your eyebrows in curiosity.
"I'll give it to you later. Come to my room when the party is over."
"That's unusual of you.... what's your plan, Hektor?"
"Well, it's no surprise if I tell you now, Master." Sometimes you forgot Hektor can be cheeky even to you. The middle-aged man merely chuckled when he saw you pouted, to him your expression was adorable.
"For now let's enjoy the party, shall we?" He grinned at you and once again sipped his drink.
.
.
.
The party was finally over. You decided to help clean up the mess first before heading to Hektor's room. At first, Boudica refused your offer because she thought you need to rest. but you insisted. She sighed in defeat and let you.
"Hektor, it's me. May I come in?" You gently knocked on the door as you ask his permission.
"Go ahead. Oh, don't forget to lock the door."
You became more anxious as you didn't know what exactly was on his mind now. Why did he ask you to lock the door? What did he plan? What did he want? Your mind is filled with unanswered questions. After you locked the door, Hektor asked you to sit beside him on the edge of his bed.
"So... what gift are you talking about?" You played with the bed sheet to ease your anxiety. Instead answered your question, Hektor just smiled at you and gave you a small black box.
"Open it." As his request, you opened the box. Your eyes widened as you saw a simple yet beautiful wooden ring decorated with an emerald gem lying inside of it. Your emotion suddenly went into turmoil. Confusion, excitement, and joy were mixed into one.
"Master, our relationship only lasts until Grand Order is over. But until then, I want to stay by your side no matter what. Even though we have to say goodbye in the future, I still want to ask you this..." Hektor stood up from his bed and then knelt on one knee. Your heart picked up its beat as you knew what those gestures meant.
"(Name), will you marry this old man?" Your eyes became tearing up in happiness as Hektor proposed to you. You wanted to answer it so badly but nothing came out of your throat, the only thing you can do were nod. Hektor's expression became soft as he saw your response, he took the ring and gently slide it onto your finger, the ring fits on you faultlessly.
"The ring fits on your finger, huh? That's good. Sorry if it isn't fancy, I'll make you better-" You cut him out by hugging him tightly. As your smaller figure snuggled on his chest, the familiar scent of tobacco and coffee infiltrated your nostril.
"I'll treasure this ring..." It may look cheap or dull in people's eyes but you didn't care at all. This wooden ring was made by himself, a proof of his love and dedication for you.
Hektor felt his heart flutter in happiness, he was very grateful he was loved and cherished by you. How can someone kind and wonderful person like you reciprocate love from an ordinary and plain man? He may never find the answer but that's fine.
"I love you, (Name)..."
"I love you too, Hektor..."
This was a story about a living human and a heroic spirit tied their love with a wooden ring.

⭐𝐇𝐞𝐛𝐢'𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭 𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐨𝐱⭐
Hey, guys! I've opened a Secret Drawing Box (you can find the link in my blog's pinned post) and after a long day I decided to check if any of you had left something in there...
...And I've realized that YOU ARE ARTISTS.. I mean...
I'm going to comment each drawing I got so far qwq♥ So I can support each of you and tell you all how special you are for Hebi♥
I'll give a name to each masterpiece too x3 (don't take it too seriously, I'm simply behaving stupidly♥).. so
Let's get started!!...
⭐𝐀 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐝𝐦𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐫?!
Tumblr media
~Okay.. First of all, I got this handsome senpai right here confessing their feelings for me.. It kinda looks like Gentaro but.. I'm not sure that it's actually "Yumeno-senpai".. I can't hide the fact that I smiled brightly after seeing this, because this person right here is so cutee..! Also.. The drawing style looks so adorable as well. QwQ Seriously.. I'm happy that you guys like me and my content! I'll keep doing my best to "feed you" xD♥
By the way (I'm talking to the person who made this..) I love you too! :D Keep it up, queen/king!♥
⭐"𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐊𝐮𝐤𝐨"
Tumblr media
~I knew it!! I knew that someone would have drawn Kuko for me! Haha!! I didn't give this masterpiece a name because the artist has already given one.. and.. it's "it's Kuko". You cannot deny the fact that the artist didn't need to tell us who the subject of their masterpiece was.. Because Kuko is Kuko!! And you recognize him immediately after seeing his eyebrows and expression..!
Jokes aside, it's so cute! I love it! qwq♥ Thank you so much for this small goofy Kuko (btw.. Kuko is already goofy haha xD)♥
⭐𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐳𝐮𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐨
Tumblr media
~This anon artist right here simply decided to give us a masterpiece which goes beyond the frame of a fantastic painting..!! It's a revelation!! This is the one and only portrait of the actual form of Azul Ashengrotto!! No one has ever seen Azul's actual physical appearance... No one knows about his secret.. Only this person.. This anon artist has been able to see him in person.. to discover what humans' eyes do not really know.. to discover and realize how terrible, how frightening the reality is..!! Which is.. that Azul Ashengrotto.. is an octopus with very big eyes!!... Legends say that this anon artist has never been found.. People say that they have tried their best to escape this evil creature.. but that Azul is taking them kidnapped and forcing them to look at his BIG octopus' eyes!!...
(Okay.. maybe I've overdone.. Lol! Jokes aside, thank you so much for this! ♥ I really like it! It seems so fool but so cute too! Like.. a small octopus pet? qwq I'd like to have Azul as a small pet--- noooooo--- wait--- *hebi.exe stopped working...*)
⭐𝐑𝐚𝐦𝐮𝐝𝐚, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭…?
Tumblr media
~The anon who drew these two cuties here (and the following Doppo) already texted me in my inbox to be sure that I had recieved them.. At first I thought they were kinda linked. I mean.. It really looks like that Sasara is speaking to Ramuda! Like.. "Ramuda.. You know that Hypmic is getting a season 2?!" and the news really explains well why Ramuda has that shocked expression on his face! Haha!♥ Btw I've already told this anon.. They look so talented! Thank you so much!♥
⭐𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐚-𝐃𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨-𝐋𝐢𝐬𝐚
Tumblr media
~Finally it's this cutie's turn.. I decided to name it "Monna-Doppo-Lisa" because... He looks like Da Vinci's MonnaLisa somehow?! I mean.. Doppo's eyes are so lost in thoughts.. He's looking at the viewer but, at the same time, he's absent, completely lost in his thoughts while he's letting his arms down, as if he's completely stressed and fed up of thinking... No one can really imagine what he's thinking about. .We only can tell that he's tired...
...And that he's so cute and pure and precious- AAAAAAAAAA- *Hebi faints*
⭐Thank you so much for sending me these cute and adorable drawings!⭐
Tumblr media
If you want to send me a drawing, check this link here--->♥

1/2 Dailies, All Unlocked
And what better way to celebrate the new blog than with a fic? This is going to be a series of short extracts, which involve all the headcanons I used to save my sanity while abusing Castria and da Vinci during the FGO Anniversary. Also involves very greedy guys, big bellies, and 100% more horny Ritsuka than ever. This is just a prologue, so no kinky stuff yet, but expect the kinky chapter 1 later today.
Next chapter
Some stories tell of a horrible disaster.
“Servant, Rider.
A lot happened, and now I’m the second generation Da Vinci!”
“Fear and revere me, human.”
“Servant...my name is Sieg.”
The master’s legs were trembling. His hands were spread out forward to the gleaming flurry of sparks. His lips were mumbling incoherent prayers to all gods while his tongue twisted to fit the ancient word.
“Pleasepleasepleasepleaseineedherformybluecards!”
Everyone else was watching from the Command Room. No word could break the heavy silence there as a myriad of Divinities worked their powers to bless their master’s luck.
“Either that,” he had said with a burning zeal in his eyes, “or I’ll have to use you to farm bones.”
Summer Ishtar’s robe was dripping with anxiety (very much not sweat, what were you taking her for?). Medusa was clinging to the control deck, and her fingers dug more deeply with every failed roll. Ishtar-Ashtart -
“Wait, what are you doing here?” Da Vinci asked between the summonings. “I get the others, but you’ll be sent to the bones mines either way.”
“Eh? Isn’t that just fighting? A goddess like me will make a quick work of it!” Her body started glowing green, and Da Vinci would have corrected her, but a red light on the deck drew her attention.
The master was in front of the summoning circle, jumping like a rabid rabbit, and -
Was that foam in his mouth?
“Oh, sweet summer child,” Da Vinci bitterly laughed when she loaded the next Quartz, “don’t worry. Your senpai will show you the ropes.”
---
“Hello! I’m Caster, Altria!”
This story tells of the opposite.

Three times Mash and Tonelico kissed each other's hand, and one time someone else kissed Mash's hand
1.
“Man, this one was tougher than I expected.”
Contrary to her words, Tonelico’s tone is rather lighthearted. She doesn’t look shaken in the slightest by the battle that just occurred. Her magical power is- something akin to the divine, at this point. Her spell tore the calamity apart with the might of a tiger.
Already, Totrot and Ector set off for damage control. They know the motion by now. Find the survivors. Heal the wounded. Ensure everyone is safe. And then leave as fast as one possibly can.
Tonelico doesn’t move, though. She’s leaning on her staff. “Mash? Were you hurt?”
She looks so casual. Her gentle smile hasn’t faltered on bit. Her demeanor is open, trusting.
Her fingers are charred black.
It’s a detail. Something inconsequential. Mash doubts anyone else has noticed it- she only has because Senpai’s hands carry a tremble from their constant nerve damages, so she’s come to pay attention to them. It’s a detail, surely something Tonelico has handled, but she does have to ask: “Does it hurt?”
At Tonelico’s confusion, Mash points at her hands.
“Ah.” She says, looking down. “A little, I suppose.”
Mash trusts Tonelico. She really does. But sometimes she reminds her of Senpai, and Senpai lies when it comes to pain.
She takes the fae’s hand. She feels Tonelico twitch, oh so slightly.
“They’ll go back to normal soon.” Says the fae, which Mash hears as this has happened before. “You don’t need to worry.”
Perhaps not, but she will anyways.
Softly, Mash brings Tonelico’s hand up, and presses her lips to the back of her fingers, the way the Doctor did to her when she was a child. Her skin is cold. When Mash lowers the fae’s hand, she moves her own to cover Tonelico’s fingers, trying to warm them up.
Tonelico is staring at her. “What are you doing?”
Ah. Right. It must have looked odd from the outside. “It’s a gesture of comfort. To keep the pain away.” Mash says, internally cringing at how childish her explanation sounds. “Someone… dear to me used to do that for me. I thought it could help.”
She hopes Tonelico does not ask her to elaborate. She still doesn’t know how to describe the Doctor to people who have not seen that selfless brilliance for themselves.
Thankfully, Tonelico doesn’t. She merely nods. “I see. Thank you, Mash.” And then the two of them have to get back to the others, and they have to run again, and the conversation is all but forgotten.
(Still, Tonelico did not pry her hand away from Mash’s.)
2.
Had she been human, the impact would have torn her arm clean off her body. As it stands, it merely sent Mash flying through the trees.
“Are you certain you aren’t hurt? No dislocated shoulder? No broken bones?”
“I’m fine. The shield is really sturdy.” Mash flexes each of her joints, checking for injuries. “I sprained by wrist a bit, but it should heal on its own.”
Tonelico immediately picks up Mash’s arm, examining it for herself. She pours some mana into the bruised skin, which alienates the already dull pain. Then, looking satisfied, she-
“Tonelico?”
She kisses the back of Mash’s hand.
“Did I do it wrong?” She inquires, raising her head.
“No, no! I just… didn’t expect you to do it.” She replies. It has been a very long time since anyone has done that to her. Senpai has other ways to comfort her, through handholding and hugs and headpats. The Doctor and Da Vinci being gone, she didn’t think she’d feel lips on her hands ever again. “I was surprised.”
Tonelico stares up at her. There’s something about her eyes. Sometimes, it feels like she’s looking straight into her soul. Mash can only hope that what she sees in here brings up warmth rather than pain. “Then I’ll keep doing it, if you don’t mind.”
“It’s fine. By all means.” Mash likes Tonelico. She likes Totrot, and Ector, and even that grumpy Wryneck. But… it’s not her home. She could use the comfort.
Tonelico smiles like she always does, squeezing her hand. “Good.”
3.
“So you couldn’t sleep either, huh?”
Tonelico plops herself down next to Mash. The night is cold. The fae presses her shoulder to Mash’s, surely seeking some warmth.
“I’m so nervous.” Mash admits. “We’ve worked so hard for Uther’s coronation. It’s surreal to think that it’s finally happening tomorrow.”
“Hah, same.” Tonelico nods understandingly. “We just have to get through this, and then it will all be fine.”
Mash does not reply.
She has heard the stories. She knows what will happen. She knows Uther’s fate, Tonelico’s fate. She knows. She knows. She hopes she’s wrong, but. She knows.
Instead, she wraps her hand around Tonelico’s, and brings it to her lips, as she has done a dozen times now. “Did you know that it’s customary for knights to kiss the back of their liege’s hands?” Or maybe only to kiss the back of ladies’ hands, Mash isn’t sure- she was never that close to the Round Table knights, and for so long talking to the one knight who sought her out was made impossible by Galahad’s hatred nested deep between her ribs.
“Oh, I didn’t know.” Tonelico replies, glancing at their joined hands. “Would you have been my knight, had I been a ruler?”
“… I think you would be miserable as a Queen.” Mash replies honestly. “It would be nice if we could keep traveling together, though. You, me. The rest of your team. All of Chaldea. And Senpai. You’d love Senpai. The two of you are very much alike.”
“It would be nice.” Tonelico nods. A sincere wish that can never come true.
Mash likes Tonelico. A lot. More than she can ever admit to herself. Tonelico gets Mash, gets the feeling of alienation that comes from being displaced in time. And Mash likes to think that she gets Tonelico too, if only a little, if only because she can see both Senpai and the Doctor inside of her. Tonelico stuck to her side despite her impossible story, and Mash did the same despite the hardships of this story whose conclusion she already knows.
Mash likes Tonelico. Really. Sometimes, she thinks Tonelico might even like her back.
She does not speak that feeling into existence. Neither does Tonelico.
They belong to different worlds. They belong to different times. The two of them, this wish they speak of- it can never be. So Mash holds her hand, under this starry sky, and she hopes it’s enough to convey to her that even if it was doomed, even if it didn’t change a thing- there was love here.
+1
“Good job, everyone!”
Senpai congratulates the team they exit the simulator. While they give each servant a complete review of their performance, Mash leans onto the Ortinax to catch her breath. This was a good session. This team composition is truly amazing-
“Are you injuried?”
Ah. Morgan.
“I am fine, thank you.” Mash says, forcing out a smile. She knows, rationally, that Morgan is no longer Tonelico- that Morgan doesn’t even know who Mash is. It’s unfair of her to force her issues upon Morgan. But she can’t help it. Anytime she sees these eyes, these empty eyes that used to shine so bright- she finds her chest hurting.
“That is good.” Morgan replies. Her tone is flat and devoid of emotions. She extends a hand, and-
Morgan always looks so cold. So aloof. Mash startles at the warmth of her fingers around her wrist.
Morgan kisses the back of her hand.
Mash does not say anything. She does not do anything at all. She can’t even find it in herself to breathe.
Morgan blinks. The angle is a bit awkward. She’s so tall, compared to Mash. Slowly, she lowers Mash’s hand. “Apologies. I do not know what came over me.”
“I-” Mash’s heart is beating so fast she thinks it might breach out of her chest. Tonelico, Tonelico, Tonelico, my friend, my companion, my love, Tonelico, Tonelico, do you remember me? Does any part of you, heart or liver or brain or finger, does any part of you remember us at all? “Have to go right now immediately.”
Under the confused gaze of these too-familiar eyes, Mash flees.

obeguda fae marriage in my head where its another titania!gudako scenario that caters to my interests
they defeat the alien god before they could use ORT as the vessel but at the consequence of the master being on the verge of dying. oberon and guda meet one last time in a dream saying that the time she spent together with him and castoria was fun before indirectly saying her goodbyes.
pissed at her (at the very world that crushed a girl's simple dreams and wishes when all she ever did was save it over and over again even if it was beyond redemption) he claws his way out of the abyss, even as the world rejects him and makes him weak and bleeding, nothing would ever stop him from reaching his goal of revenge.
back at chaldea, while they try to figure out how to restore the world back to its original state because nothing is happening to undo the bleaching, kadoc is out of commission again due to sustaining grave injuries from using his sirius light to help defeat the alien god even when he got protected by holmes alter AND with gudako barely hanging in there because her life is slowly fading away, they have no choice but to put her in a special coffin that could preserve her but also use her circuits to summon and retain servants for chaldea.
with this “death-like” state, her mind cannot be entered nor is there any way to exit it. But with the help of the coffin, all functions of the brain that is vital in order for her to be tethered is maintained.
in that coffin imbued with both the finest technology, countless bounded fields, curses, and blessings to protect the sole person needed to finish this “Grand Order” once and for all-
(Fujimaru Ritsuka wouldn’t be so different from the Masters who were sealed inside Seraph’s coffins to serve as a mana battery. But the closest people who knew what lies beneath her mask wonders: In another world where she is Seal-designated by Clock Tower mages, would this kind of fate as Chaldea’s Last Master until the end of time be preferable than being handed over to them? The answer was neither.)
they have no choice but to put gudako in them if they want chaldea to be prepared and ready to go for any singularities or lostbelts that may pop up suddenly because their most important field operative is genuinely on the verge of dying.
mash slowly realizes all the suffering her senpai had to go through in these seven years of battle between life and death. how ritsuka slowly lost all her color while mash gained some of her own. (from doctor roman, the older da vinci, patxi, gerda, the chinese villagers, asha, the argonauts, macarios and adelle, [DATA LOST]-)
months pass by and things seemed relatively peaceful but no signs of the bleached world going back.
then, one day da vinci opens the coffin to physically check on fujimaru after confirming that her vitals are fine from the monitors. with all of the servants specializing in magecraft, they finally found a way to enter the Master’s mind and wake her up from within.
but what greets her was an empty shell with no signs of the Master in it
the entire chaldea base is alerted, but the servants who stayed to support their master had all but vanished except for castoria, mash, and the remaining chaldea staff
sion instantly locates a rift in the world. a crack where Mystery is practically gushing out. and it is located kilometers below the surface of where the Clock Tower once stood.
A lostbelt born thousands of kilometers below the surface, the very location of where the Spiritual Tomb of Albion was once located. Like the Wandering Sea, it has fleeting but limited entrances. It would take more than just a zero sail or rayshift to get in...they would have to time it right
i haven’t worked out all the details yet but i want titania!gudako for oberon @-@ and when they finally marry, it will be “too” late for chaldea to save/ bring back “fujimaru ritsuka”

The Century War of the Wyverns Part 8a: Attack of the Giant Dragon
Previous | Contents
Yeah we're splitting this into a two-parter as well. We wanted to give some extra space to the zerkalot fight coming up, and this chapter's already getting lengthy. Enjoy!
With the Phantom of the Opera defeated, the 14th century castle was suddenly much easier to navigate. …dear god our life is weird. That’s not to say it was easy to navigate from there since Romani’s radar only gave us a destination and not directions, but at least we’re not running in circles.
We had to double back a couple times thanks to the castle’s hallways suddenly deciding to stop going the direction we wanted, but eventually we found our way to a courtyard.
Kris: <…wait, we’ve seen Mash fucking launch people one-handed by now. she probably could’ve just walked through those walls.>
Jeanne: <There is no point in risking a collapse right now, especially since we have no idea how much damage the castle has already sustained.>
The yard was a mess, just like the rest of the town. Overgrown grass and bushes pressing in on what paths remained, chunks of brick and stone from the crumbling walls, the works. We split up to look for him, and after a few minutes we found a man resting under a tree. I may or may not have tripped over him, but that’s not important right now.
???: Sorry… I wish I could help you up…
As I pulled myself up, I gave him a once-over. He was wearing some sort of armor, though it was hard to tell what kind exactly under all the caked-on blood. Whoever did that to him damn near split him in half.
April: Hey, everyone, I think I found him! Jeanne, I think we’ll need your help here! Don’t worry, we’ll get you patched up.
???: I appreciate the concern, but I doubt you will be able to help. This wound was made by a cursed sword- it will not close until the curse is removed.
Jeanne Lily: He’s right. If only I was at full strength, I would have the ability to lift it!
Roman: Regardless, we need to move! With those servants approaching we’re at a severe disadvantage here. Can you walk?
???: I should be able to. *cough* Just don’t expect much more.
April: That’s all we can ask for right now. Let’s get going.
Mash: Senpai, the exit’s this way!
-----
Astolfo: Heyyy, master? Are ya there?
April: We are now almost out of the castle, Astolfo. How are things looking out there?
Sieg: It’s bad, master. Jeanne has brought at least three other servants with her, and she’s riding-
Roman: We’ve confirmed her mount’s magic signature, she’s riding on the evil dragon Fafnir!
Sieg: ..Yes, Dr. Roman. Thank you.
Kris: <Ah yes, Fafnir, of course. What’s a Fafnir?>
April: Fafnir… is from an opera, right?
Da Vinci: Correct! In Siegfried, Fafnir is defeated by, well, Siegfried, using the legendary sword Balmung. He resists the curse of Das Rheingold, and eventually meets and marries Kriemhild.
Roman: The important thing is, Fafnir is nothing like the wyverns you’ve seen so far. Even if our dragonslayer was at full strength, it would still be a difficult fight. Once you get outside, retreat as fast as you can!
Astolfo: Huh. How’d you think the French Army could do against him?
Roman: They’d be slaughtered instantly, why?
Astolfo: The French Army just showed up.
Jeanne Lily: We can’t let them fight Fafnir on their own! Is there anything we can do?
Sieg: I can do it.
Mash: What?
Sieg: I can take care of Fafnir. I just need a clear shot at him, and some time.
Roman: That’s all well and good, but I don’t think even Mash’s Noble Phantasm will be able to defend against Fafnir’s breath!
???: Then I will help her. Thankfully, my Noble Phantasm doesn’t require my own strength.
As we exited into the sunshine, and the mysterious servant whistled. Suddenly, a new mass of magical energy galloped next to him.
???: I apologize for not introducing myself earlier. I must be particularly careless as a Saber, and for that I apologize. My name is Saint Georgios of Lydda, Saber class. This is my horse and Noble Phantasm, Bayard. He shall protect you.
The mass shook and whinnied, and- yes, that is definitely a horse.
Georgios: Try not to get too close, master. He bites.
Romani: You’ve got Jeanne’s attention! Get ready!
It was then we learned the difference between a wyvern and a dragon. A wyvern is an animal. A large one, yes, and one that can breathe fire, but it still fits into what a human can conceive as a living thing. A dragon, on the other hand, does not.
A wyvern’s wings are only dangerous if you’re hit by one directly. A dragon is a living storm. The wind pushed around by its wings forced us to take cover lest we be torn apart by flying debris, or worse we became debris ourselves. Even Mash and the other servants struggled to get into position.
Wyverns have a hissing scream, like most lizards only larger. A dragon has no comparison. It commands dominance, and if you’re close enough, it punches straight through you ass if you weren’t there.
A wyvern’s fire is deadly. Their breath will turn any human unlucky enough to meet it into little more than a pile of charred bone. A dragon’s fire is the end. Feeling it even from this distance is enough to make one question if anything could survive it. Perhaps the ground itself became a crater, shying away from the heat, the very air itself removed from this reality for the crime of getting in his way.
It was beautiful. And it was going to kill us.

Codex Chaldeas: Summer Sabotage!
"So what do you think, Master?!" Ishtar says to Nota. She had just explained to Nota her plan to use a recently formed singularity to recreate her Divine Bull Gugalanna with a race to create the proper magical circle.
Nota was silent for a while, as she silently contemplated Ishtar's plans before she gave her answer. "Ishtar, why would you want to do such a thing?" She asked her friend "you don't need to recreate Gugalanna, you're just fine as is Ishtar! You don't need him!" She insisted
Ishtar pouted at her friend's response. "EH?! Master! I thought that you'd understand! I want to finally shut that stupid golden king up with my mighty Gugalanna!" She proclaimed to her master. Nota lamented a bit at Ishtar's words.
Then Nota seemingly relented "Fine. What exactly do you need?" She asks her friend. Ishtar already had a lot of the plan in motion, it was just time to get the race started.
But later on, Nota met with Rex, Da Vinci and Mash. "So that's her real intentions with the race, huh?" Da Vinci commented. "Really don't like that she's trying to trick us"
"So what do you want us to do, Senpai?" Mash asked Nota, eager to help.
"Ishtar told the racers to install these weird parts into their vehicles for the sake of the magical circle. So I need Da Vinci to create dud pieces and I need tu mi primo to switch them out during the race, while the racers are at the rest points" Nota explained. "You, my Kouhai will stay with me to help keep Ishtar's eyes away from Rex!"
"How will I be able to travel between the rest stops without getting caught?" Rex asked.
"I can create something that can keep you hidden, but how you'll be able to move in a decent amount of time, while also avoiding any obstacles I'm less sure about." Da Vinci said to Rex.
"Oh?! Someone needs to travel quickly?" Someone else said nearby. It was Quetzalcoatl, coming in.
"Oh! Mi amor, I do! for this plan!" Rex told her. "We're actually planning to sabotage Ishtar's race" Rex told her.
Quetz's eyes actually lit up a bit! "Oh! Really?! You're suspicious of her plans too?!" She asked the group.
"She actually told me her entire plan." Nota mentioned.
"Oh?! Why did she do that?" Quetz asked Nota.
"She trusts me." Nota told her. "After I helped her feel better back in Babylonia, she trusted me a lot. And I do want to help her but this is a bad idea, it's super unnecessary and she's doing it for bad reasons. I'm doing what's best for her, or at least trying"
"Oh! That's actually very admirable of you Nota!" Quetz told her.
After some time, the Race was about to begin! "Well Master, Mash, are you two excited for the race?" Ishtar asked of the two.
"I actually am Ishtar!" Mash said. "I've never seen a race like this before, it's very exciting!"
"Oh that's so nice to hear!" Ishtar responded "hope you have fun! By the way, Nota, where's your cousin?" She asked.
"Oh, he didn't really seem interested at all." Nota told the goddess. "He's staying in his room"
"Huh, well his loss" Ishtar said. "Well, it's about time for the race to start! I've gotta go, seeya later!" She said before leaving.
Nota pulled out a phone, and started to talk to Rex and Quetz with it. "Are you guys in position yet?"
Rex answered "yup, we're at the first checkpoint! Just waiting for the racers to get here."
"Ok good!" Nota said "just stay hidden and when the racers leave their vehicles make your move!"
"Got it!" Rex said back.
Ishtar waved the flag and the racers were off! First then went through a vast desert, suddenly facing opposition from Atalante. While Rex and Quetz were already in position at the rest stop. Once the racers finally stopped and left their vehicles, Rex and Quetz got into action!
"Mi amor, where exactly would the parts be?" Quetz asked Rex.
"The hood and under the car are the best places to look, you can check under the hood and I'll look underneath the car." Rex explained to Quetz.
The pair first took a look at Artoria Alter and Nero's car. Mainly since it looked the most like a normal car. Quetz helped use the jack to quickly lift up the car for Rex to search it before opening up the hood to do her own searching.
"These pieces look so very odd, Mi amor. Are the racers not suspicious of Ishtar's intentions with these?" Quetz questioned.
"I honestly don't know, maybe there were some suspicions but clearly not enough to not race. Regardless, we've still got to do this!" Rex explains.
After some searching, Rex managed to find Ishtar's piece to switch out! "Found it! Hand me the dud piece!" Rex asked of Quetz.
Quetz handed him the dud piece and Rex got to work switching them out. After he finished, the pair heard an announcement from Ishtar for the racers to get back to their vehicles.
"Mi Amor! We need to go!" Quetz urged Rex.
"Right, just take the jack out of there and we'll book it!" Rex instructed Quetz. The pair grabbed their tools and took off to the next rest stop ahead of them, to avoid getting caught and also to get back into position.
"Did you all hear that loud thud?" Nero asked while returning to her car.
"Yeah I did. You think it could've been sabotage?" Questioned, Salter.
The pair immediately looked to Moriarty in suspicion.
"Oh come now! I was with everyone else, I didn't do anything to sabotage your vehicles!" He exclaimed, trying to claim his innocence.
Ishtar noticed the racers' suspicions when they commented on the noise. "Oh there better not be anyone attempting to mess with my race!" She exclaimed angrily.
Despite their plan almost getting exposed, Nota kept her cool before trying to reassure her friend. "Oh I'm sure it's nothing Ishtar. The racers might just be paranoid from hearing random noises and the fact that one of their rivals is more than willing to sabotage, considering how shady and evil he is."
"I guess you have a point." Ishtar said. "Well, let's continue on!"
"Did you really need to throw Moriarty under the bus like that?" Mash whispered to Nota.
"Not my fault he's the perfect red herring!" Nota whispered back. "Besides, anything to take suspicion away from Rex and Quetz. They need all the help they can get!"
Then the next part of the race was in a huge Volcano. Rex got a bit overheated from the environment, but Quetz helped him a bit using her authority to make a strong breeze to help him keep cool as they rode her pterosaur to the next stop. When the time came for the racers to stop once again, the pair needed to wait a bit more than last time, since the racers needed to do a bit of maintenance from racing in the deadly terrain.
"Fuck is this taking a while" Rex whispered impatiently. "This place is so hot, I wanna get this over with!"
"Relax Mi amor" Quetz said to Rex. "Just wait a bit longer, it'll only be a bit longer."
After the racers finally finished up and left to take a break, Rex and Quetz went into action! Now they decided to look at Raikou and Xuanzang's carriage. Quetz actually distracted the horses by giving them food, while Rex searched for the piece they needed to switch out.
"Got it!" Rex whispered to Quetz, before switching it out for the dud piece.
Thankfully this time around, it took less time to switch out the parts and the pair was able to leave without making nearly as much noise as last time. With no reasons this time for the racers to suspect any sabotage, Ishtar was more reassured everything was fine.
"No noises or anything this time. I guess you were right before, Nota. Good thing too, I can't have anything happen with this race!" She said in relief.
"See! Everything is going smoothly!" Nota told Ishtar. "Your race will finish without a hitch!"
"It better! We need to clear this singularity after all!" Ishtar responded
After Ishtar left once again, Mash whispered to Nota again. "Good thing they managed to finish things more smoothly this time, Senpai."
"Yeah, I guess that carriage was easier to work with." Nota said. "Hope things stay this smooth going forward"
Next was a huge valley and long river for the racers to traverse. For Rex and Quetz it was quite easy to get through thanks to their flying mount. Once they got to the next stop, it was just another wait until the racers came to stop.
Once they did, there was a unique opportunity this time. Babbage, who was the vehicle for his team, decided to stay behind and sleep while still in his vehicle mode while the others left. Every other time, he turned back into his robot form and left with Fran and Moriarty, but this time his quick nap would be both very useful but also very risky. If they wake him up and aren't able to leave without his notice or even mess up the switch, this could expose the plan.
"Aside from just being extra careful, what else can we do?" Quetz asked Rex.
"I do have a paralysis ability in my mystic code, but other than that our options aren't much to be quite honest." Rex told her.
"Well, I hope we can still manage." She said.
The pair snuck up to Babbage's sleeping train body and got to work. It was far more difficult than any of the previous vehicles, as not only did they have to be very quiet, but also the workings were very confusing for the pair.
Quetz mouthed "anything so far?" To Rex
Rex mouthed in response "nada" with some worry clear in his face.
As the two worked, Babbage nearly awoke thanks to their movements which caused them to quickly back away, hoping he wouldn't fully awaken so they could get back to work. Thankfully this did indeed happen. They got back to work, and Quetz did manage to find Ishtar's part. She mouthed "found it" to Rex before he went over to join her, and help make the switch.
But as they worked, they heard the footsteps and conversations of the returning racers. They panicked a bit, but had to stay calm so as to not wake the sleeping Caster up, or be heard by the oncoming racers.
They're able to make the switch and leave the place before getting caught, but this was the closest switch yet! They quickly went to where the next stop was supposed to be.
The race continued on, but something went wrong towards the end. The racers ended up falling down a large pit and the race was interrupted thanks to it.
EVERYONE is shocked at this development, even more so when it's revealed the racers end up imprisoned by Queen Medb, who runs the prison. But this presented an amazing opportunity for Rex and Quetz. With the vehicles locked away in a specific spot, far away from their racers all the pair had to do was sneak in and switch out the remaining pieces without worry of the racers or Ishtar catching them.
Nota saw this golden opportunity from where her and Mash were located. "This is actually pretty perfect. The racers are locked up far away from their vehicles and that gives them plenty of opportunity to switch out the parts!"
But Mash pointed out another detail. "But they also need to make sure no guards catch them or else they'll also get locked up."
"That's a good point. Kinda wish they had an Assassin on their side right about now. Oh wait!" Nota exclaimed! "I've got an idea!"
As Rex and Quetz snuck through the prison halls, a small device appeared before them, looking to be of Da Vinci's design. "What's this?" Quetz asked.
The small machine then presented a small package to the two. They then opened it, to find two guard uniforms. Rex then got a call from Nota. "Hopefully these will keep you from standing out when switching out the pieces from the vehicles" She said.
"Wow, this is actually a very good idea, Nota! This will definitely be useful!" Rex told her.
"Of course it is, but try to move it along. The racers are still working to escape after all!" She responded.
"Right! We're on it!" He finished. The pair changed into their guard uniforms and now no longer needed to sneak about, they can just stroll on over to the vehicles.
The two found the room where the vehicles were being held, and got to work with the remaining pieces. They were definitely interesting to work with, such unique designs. But one after another, they managed just fine.
As they continued on, at some point some loud rumbling was heard. Rex got another call from Nota "hello?" Rex asked.
"Uh, change of plans! The Vice Warden is around and she's attempting to thwart the racers' efforts to escape, by setting up an ambush at their vehicles!" Nota explained.
"WHAT?!" Rex yelled out. "They might see through our disguises!"
Quetz then suddenly got a bright idea. "You keep working mi amor, I'll handle this."
"What are you gonna do?" Rex asked.
"Make myself a bigger priority" She said before ripping off the uniform, exposing her normal attire underneath and rushing out the door.
"What the hell is she doing?" Nota yelled out.
"She's saving the mission" Rex yelled back. "Now I've gotta finish up and leave!"
Quetz busted through the halls of the prison, causing so much havoc the guards had to prioritize her over the racers. Eventually she busted out onto the courtyard and was met with the Vice Warden.
"What the hell are you doing here?!" Yelled out the Vice Warden, who was none other than Quetz's sister, Coyolxauhqui! "Quetzal, why are you causing so much destruction?!" She questioned her sister.
"I have my reasons!" Quetz yelled back. "Now! Are you gonna do your job and fight me, or do I need to throw the first punch?!"
Immediately the two sisters were in a major brawl. Launching each other throughout the prison, causing destruction all over the place. Eventually Quetz even launched her into a huge statue of Medb, and it also caused a force-field around the prison to go down, making escape for the racers more possible!
Rex continued working and just managed to finish up, before heading out to leave. He raced towards where they left Quetz's pterosaur and started him up to get Quetz back soon!
Of course, all the commotion Quetz and her sister caused brought out the Warden. "What the hell is going on here?!" Medb yelled out as she saw the destruction. She then saw Quetzalcoatl and felt especially annoyed. "Huh!? There you are! I ask you to be my Vice Warden and you fucking Ghost me! Only to come and try to destroy everything! How dare you!"
It had completely slipped Quetz's mind that she agreed to do that after the plan Rex and Nota proposed. Quetz's goal was to mess with Ishtar's race anyways, so it didn't matter to her. Then she saw Rex up in the sky on her pterosaur.
"Mi corazon! Let's go! I've finished!" He exclaimed!
Quetz yelled back "ok! I'll be there!"
Medb was confused as to what Quetz was saying, and almost turned back to see who she was referring to, before Quetz crushed her with her own statue. The prison immediately started to fade thanks to Medb's death and Quetz rushed towards Rex to make their escape!
As they headed back to the very starting line, they saw the racers escape the prison inside their vehicles. The race was coming to a close, and their plan was already a success!
As the racers reached the finish line, Ishtar put her plan into its final phases. "Oho! Congratulations to the winner! You did an amazing job! But now it's time for the real show!" She said, in preparation for Gugalanna coming back. But then, nothing.
"Uh… where is he? Gugalanna?" Ishtar was confused as to why her plan wasn't working.
The racers were also a bit confused as to what the hell she meant, they even started to get annoyed. But Nota came in to cover for her friend.
"W-what Ishtar means is there's supposed to be fireworks shaped like Gugalanna to celebrate the winner's victory! But uh oh, there's been a malfunction with them and they won't be coming unfortunately. Right buddy?" Nota finished.
"Huh?!" Ishtar said in confusion, before getting elbowed by Nota. "Oh right! That's exactly what I meant! So sorry about the malfunction, but there's still the trophy!"
After the closing ceremony, Nota revealed everything to Ishtar.
"YOU WHAT?!" Ishtar exclaimed. "Why would you sabotage everything?" She asked.
"Ishtar, this was a terrible idea to begin with! We did this for your own good!" Nota yelled. "Listen, you don't need to prove Gil wrong or anything, you're amazing as you are! And we don't need Guggie anymore! That's far too much anyways! Can't you accept how you are now? Cause I already have." She finished
Ishtar teared up a bit, before hugging Nota. "Oh master! You're right! I was stupid! Can you forgive me!?"
"Already have" Nota finished.
A/N: here's a new and better Dead heat summer fic! Hope you guys like it!

Every morning felt the same nowadays.
Wake up.
Stew in bed for two hours.
Wash up.
Struggle to fit into her bra.
Wash her hands.
Take her vitamins.
Realize it’s already too late in the day to take her Adderall.
Sigh and chastise herself.
“Something needs to change, Mephistopheles,” Bruce admitted one day.
“Heh. I certainly hope it’s not with me, sweetheart.”
“No, never. It’s just… do you think I’m ‘productive?’”
The clown smirks. “No.”
Bruce groaned. Perhaps Miss da Vinci or Mash would have something helpful to say. Bruce stood up— it was a little bit of a struggle, what with all the macaroni and cheese from last night— and shuffled awkwardly to the Command Room.
“Ah, Bruce! Good to see you. Something actually just caught our eye.”
“Let me guess. Minute Singularity?”
Mash nodded. “Mhm! It’s strange, though. We’re getting multiple readings as to the location and time period, some changing by the second.”
“However,” da Vinci added, “there’s one rough range that has been showing up more than others: 19th century Germany.”
“Oh. Oh, hell.”“Hell indeed~, honighase.”
Bruce shot up a foot into the air. Turning around, she saw that she’d been followed.
“A-are you mad, Mephy?”
“Feheh. Mad? I wouldn’t go that far, string bean.”
The clown patted their Master on the head.
“Ahem. You can pin a name to your emotions later, Mephistopheles,” da Vinci piped up. “Since this Singularity apparently can’t settle on one time or location, we’ve dubbed it a ‘shapeshifter Singularity,’ and have prepared a special Mystic Code that shall help Bruce Rayshift smoothly. For the sake of your Servants, she’ll have to go alone first. Once we verify her existence, then she can call for you.”
Bruce sighed. “Fine. Lay it on me, da Vinci.”
“I want it off me, da Vinci.”
Bruce stood in the doorway, scowling.
“I think you look good in those colors, Senpai.”
“Mash, please don’t call me that.”
“Oh, um, sorry, Senpai.”
Bruce rolled her eyes, not willing to put further effort into this line of conversation. Fortunately, her knight in sexy-yet-garish armor saved her from that.
“I think you look good in green, shortstack!”
Bruce wrapped her arms around herself subconsciously.
“I like the scarlet sweater, but… a dress? Really? And the belt’s a little much…”
“I wouldn’t sell it short, Bruce,” da Vinci said. “I asked Miss Crane to make it for you. Since we’ve never seen a Singularity like this before, we don’t know how well its denizens will take to you if you stand out.”
The Master of Chaldea, once again, couldn’t be bothered to argue.
“Whatever. Let’s just get the Rayshift over with so I can safely reunite with Mephy in this… ‘shapeshifter Singularity.’ Unless you don’t want to, mein teufel?”
“Nah, nah, I’m fine.”
Rayshifting always made Bruce feel cold. The sunlight that greeted her, however, was warm and almost inviting, although the air itself was still foreign to her. The air smelled of fresh bread and sawdust.
Opening her eyes, Bruce saw that she was standing in the middle of a dilapidated street. Near-identical buildings filled her vision, distinguished only by color and easily missable signs. Only now did the sounds of footsteps reach Bruce’s ears, and her heart rate soared.
“Gotta hide, gotta hide, get out, get out, get out!” Bruce thought.
She turned around and dashed into the nearest building, a store built entirely out of dark wood.
Bruce’s eyes darted around the room, taking in her surroundings. The place looked more rustic and homely than the other buildings, with a series of glass flasks lined up along one wall and a couple of stoves along the other, each one in a different corner with a sign above it. Bruce crept over to the one in the back right corner, almost as if her very presence would upset whoever was here.
“‘Tränke,’ huh? I guess Miss da Vinci was right.”
She glanced at the other stove, whose sign read “hausgebrauch.”
Bruce took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and recalled what Fuuma Kotarou had taught her.
“‘Call out to Chaldea with your mind.’ Okay. Mephistopheles, are you there?”
Bruce heard a “poof” and opened her eyes to a cloud of pink dust and her first Heroic Spirit.
“Present and accounted for, princess~! Good seven circles, I wouldn’t have lasted another minute watching you from the command room! Absolute torture!”
“W-was it really that bad?”
Mephistopheles smirked. “Just mind-numbingly boring.”
Bruce nodded.
“Well, I’m glad you’re here. Can you tell what either of these signs say?”
Mephistopheles floated haphazardly from stove to stove, snickering all the while and slamming cabinets open and shut.
“What is it, sweetie?”
“It appears you’ve found two things, sweetheart. The house of a potions master and that of a fellow sweet tooth. I mean, just look in these pantries! I might have to help myself!”
“At least wash your hands, sweetie-pie…”
One communications set-up later…
“So there’s no one in the building?”
“Not a trace of life, Mash!” Mephistopheles piped up, munching on a strawberry.
“Well,” da Vinci said, “the best thing to do next would be to ask around. And Mephistopheles, you can’t go around eating other people’s food! Shouldn’t that be obvious?”
“Nope!”
Bruce, who had been taking stock of the cabinets, turned to da Vinci’s projection and nodded before walking to the door.
“I’m coming with you, sweetheart!”
“Meph, no! What if someone gets sus—”
As Bruce swung open the door, she was interrupted by the citizen who stood outside.“Ah, you must be the new magician in Wittenberg! I must say, you’re quite a bit… smaller than I heard you’d be.”
