Unfinished dragon nation concepts for my headworld because I cannot get a moment of peace in my house.
Anyway I was wondering if anyone thinks any of these are too similar to wings of fire tribes (the official art not ppls personal art or redesigns)? Because they where a huge inspiration for me but I don't want to end up creating carbon copies of an existing work and then calling it my own.

An assortment of creatures from Edward Topsel’s History of Four-footed Beasts and Serpents, which he wrote in 1607 and 1608, but which wasn’t published until 1658. Most of the book’s illustrations were done by Konrad Gesner, a Swiss scholar. These are my favourites! You can look through the entire book here: https://publicdomainreview.org/collection/topsell-s-history-of-four-footed-beasts-and-serpents-1658 (1 of 2)

what if nanami had a domain expansion?
so, i was talking with a friend the other day about what nanami’s domain expansion could possibly look like if he was able to achieve such a feat. we were bouncing ideas off of one another, but i’ll basically summarize what we came up with and add reference photos of what we imagine the domain to resemble.
the conversation started off with me mentioning how i think nanami’s domain would likely be surrounded by the ratios he makes, or perhaps it’d be one large ratio, that would basically just be an instant kill if he lands the attack (which is almost guaranteed since it’s his domain).
my friend went on to describe how she thinks the domain would look like, and said, “i feel like it would have something to do with buildings so that when he uses his 7:3 ratio technique it creates a chain reaction”. she didn’t realize the unintentional symbolism she did, so i replied, “oh, that’d be cool and it’s symbolic! it’d be like him destroying what was his life as a businessman.”
as soon as we talked about buildings and chain reactions i had gotten an idea of what his domain likely would look like! i said, “crazy thought, what if his domain surrounded around something to do with the sea, since nanami’s name means ‘seven seas’”. so, i sent her pictures of what i thought it would look like (these are from the movie “san andreas”):
it likely wouldn’t be to that extreme, but you somewhat get the idea!
i went on to say how, “it would make sense since he’s known for causing a ‘split’ at the 7:3 ratio, and he also has his technique called collapse (i’ll leave a gif below of what that is!). so, the ground splitting could likely have cursed energy in in.”
after that we kind of diverged onto a different conversation, but i really wanted to share this in case anyone wants to write about nanami having a domain expansion. i’m not sure what exactly it would be called, so if anyone has some ideas please share!

Some studies I did recently. I haven't been able to do a lot of drawing lately and I've been struggling with a lot of lethargy, so I hope you guys don't mind sketches since that's all I have for now.
For the time being I'm just trying to figure out what crests my OC's should have. On the one hand spines make them look a lot fiercer but on the other hand manes gives room for a lot of styling and self expression.

even more deity fun! here is my setting’s version of Dol Arrah in her humanoid form (she usually appears as an enormous gold dragon. She’s associated with vengeance, light, the sun, sacrifice, and in my game is also the goddess most associated with dragons and divine consort to Hestia!

hi ❤️ ur ocs r so interesting, can u tell me abt dragon? (i'm semi new here so sorry if there's already a lot of info) -victor anon
Hi!! Thanks so much for asking. I love my characters dearly.
This blog is fairly new itself, and my characters haven’t been discussed often. Rathaus is the one I speak most about. I’m very specific with how I introduce them; I like character sheets, but that requires drawing and organising them. Asks like these give me good opportunities to do it in a more.. Interactive way, I suppose!
You can find information about the custom location I created around Dragon here. I would recommend reading this to get a feel for how his domain operates. However, it’s written in his POV, so it’s intended to be more confusing than if I did it generally.
Now, let’s talking about the man... deathclaw... himself!
I made two five minute doodles for him just because I can.
Dragon is a semi-intelligent deathclaw. He doesn’t know the spoken language but can be taught it, and has learnt parts of it from the company he keeps. He possesses problem-solving abilities, curiosity, imitation and various others signals that could match him on the same intelligence level as an ape.
He is blind and has an intense sense of smell. He is an alpha deathclaw, separated from his pack long before the events of Dragon’s Domain. He was blinded by a flash of light produced by teleportation to the Big MT, though obviously he doesn’t know this himself.
He co-exists in a cave network with its residents and acts as a glorified guard dog. Being founded by Legion slaves, the people have taught him the smell and the presence of a Legionary and, most importantly, the Frumentarii. This ensures that even if they were to get past those guarding the cave’s entrance, they wouldn’t make it far without Dragon finding out. There are only two recorded incidents of one slipping in.
He was named Dragon on account of pre-war books detailing large, scaly lizards that would breath fire and take residence in lairs.
Temperamentally, he’s incredibly docile. Even before meeting the slaves he wasn’t particularly aggressive for a deathclaw, though when it came to territory he’d shoo most creatures out of his cave if they met half his size. Humans were small enough to him that he never assumed them to be a competitor. When they began to offer him food, they were more useful than ever.
He has an affinity for the young of any creature and will ‘adopt’ them if they sit close to him. The resident’s kids use him as something to climb on most of the time.
He is an important piece to Rathaus’ backstory and does become involved in her main story during points. I’ve always admired deathclaws; I’m a huge fan of dinosaurs and dragons, if I haven’t mentioned that once before; so I was naturally inclined to them even before I became a real fan of Fallout.
Thanks again for asking about him!

Fallout: New Vegas - Dragon’s Domain
Where none may share the might of the bull.
For many years, a blind deathclaw lived within a cave network deep in the mountains near Novac. He left only for food, scorned by his species, and was feared by none - only avoided.
In the year 2252, he was approached by a strange pair of humans.
They muttered in languages he could not understand, but spoke words he had heard pass by the many mouths of the caves. Legion.
They smelt of fear, blood and hopelessness.
But they did not fear him.
Curious, he allowed them to stay. They did not run from him, and he would not give them any reason to.
They would offer him food. Perhaps an attempt to keep him passive. He would accept, though they never came closer than his long claws could reach.
One day, they disappeared. More came, similar scents, then they would disappear too. More, more, more, less, less, less.
A new scent would pick up with each disappearance, along with their passing words.
Until one day, he decided to defend them.
They gave him a name, then: Dragon. Like the beasts of the old world.
They brought him more food and he learnt more of their language in kind.
They began to make homes, smells of straw, wood and sweet honey would fill the caves. Scents from Novac would drift in and out; they were trading, they were living, they were thriving.
Smells of gunpowder and metals; they had set up guards.
They taught him the scent of the Legion.
The scent of the disguised Legion, so that none may enter the cave and reclaim what was no longer theirs. They were Dragon’s.
In the year 2262, a young woman smelling much like the original slaves entered. She asked them to house a little girl that smelt of burns and breaks. The girl stayed, but the woman never returned.
In the year 2274, those smelling of rotting flesh had taken refuge as well as more sullen souls. They spoke of many things; Freeside, House. They smelt just as lost as the slaves had been. They were lacking a home. Perhaps they had once had one? Freeside.
In the year 2277, the woman of burns and breaks left.
He hopes to smell her once again.
She was always welcome with her home.

I'm not saying it's the only reason I started dming, but creating a world where the gnomes have electricity and therefore also have the sweet synthetic musical stylings of the 1980s and also electric guitars and rock and roll was a big motovator
Round Red Lacquer box, China, 18th century

The Qianlong Emperor (1711 – 1799) commissioned at least eighteen versions of this lacquer box. He was the sixth Emperor of the Qing dynasty. Like his predecessors, took his cultural role seriously. The Qianlong Emperor was a major patron and important "preserver and restorer" of Confucian culture. A substantial part of his collection is in the Percival David Foundation in London.

I finally had enough time to throw together some ideas I've had for a while now! This isn't meant to be an original species or anything, I just wanted to have some ground rules for the dragons in my headword to make sure they all look vaguely the same.
These designs aren't the most unique because of which I won't make it a completely closed species. Basically if someone ends up with something similar looking don't sweat it. It happens, just don't directly copy and all will be fine.
I’ll try to keep this updated over time as well!

Me: *trying to fire Sacred Flame past our Paladin in a narrow hallway*
DM: I’mma get creative with this. Squishy(Paladin), go ahead and roll a dex check in order to do a burpee so Julian(me) can fire past you.
Paladin: *rolls a natural 20*
Squishy (who has LOW dexterity) proceeds to do a perfect burpee so that my cleric can fire Sacred Flame at an enemy, whom he completely decimated with the spell.
God, I love d&d.

Ooc: Florin! Some rough ol’ sketches.
Extracting that lil top left doodle because I liked the back-face design and guess he has a front gut maw also and skeletal nose holes for belly button because Grandpa has a brand. Florin, while not being a Revenant, is almost as old as Miodrag and has been with Grandpa nearly as long. Despite being one of the more fragile induviduals in the oldest ranks of the Menagerie, he has a daring and cavalier attitude, and does not shy easily away from risk. Fast. Can make stupid faces to taunt you both coming and going. A little preening, he likes to look his best in scales of bright fish-silver, daubed with gaudy patches of colour in reds and purples and blues.
