#DISLIKES ALL MIGHT BASED ACCESSORIES

I was going through the anti Jason Todd tag because I hate myself and want to understand where people who dislike him are coming from and one thing I kept seeing was annoyance at Jason fans who claim that Jason is female coded and realized that the term “female coded” might not be the best term to describe what we mean.

A female coded character in literature and media typically means a character that has no specified gender or otherwise does not have a gender but is obviously meant to be a stand in for a woman or female. Kind of like how Starfire has no specified race (due to being an alien) but is still obviously black coded based on the way she’s drawn and treated by the narrative.

This is slightly different than what we mean when saying that Jason is female coded. It’s not that Jason is literally supposed to be a stand in for a female character, it’s that the way a lot of characters treat him and a lot of the tropes used on him are things that usually saved for female characters, not big buff men like Jason.

To start with, being Robin is narratively (or at least was) very similar to being a woman in a story. Robin is a role made to complement Batman (who we all know is basically the ultimate male power fantasy). Robin’s role is to be an accessory to Batman. Robin can be smart, but not smarter than Batman. Robin can be strong, but not stronger than Batman. Hell, Robin is often kidnapped and used as a literal damsel in distress, a role often regulated for women as a whole.

What sets Jason apart from the other robins (except for Steph) in this regard is that they were allowed to be characters outside of Batman. Dick might not have been the “man” of the story when he’s with Bruce, but when he’s with the teen titans suddenly he’s the smart one who has all the answers. Jason’s Robin was never really allowed this.

Then we get to the most, controversial, part of Jason’s female coding. The fact the he was effectively fridged. Fridging is usually only referred to as frigding if it’s a female character, but Jason’s death checks pretty much all the other boxes needed. An incredibly brutal death that was more about Bruce’s feelings on it than Jason himself.

This is especially apparent when compared to the other Bat characters. For all the female coding, the only other Robin to actually be fridged was Steph (and we all know about the misogyny surrounding her death). Barbara was also kind of fridged during the killing Joke. The only female character to escape this is Cass (to my knowledge). When you look at it through this lens, the fact that the only other characters to be permanently damaged like this for Bruce’s story are female, it’s not hard to see where the idea that Jason is female coded comes from.

You can even find this in Jason’s origin story. Poor little orphan is saved by benevolent billionaire is a role usually saved for little girls, like in Annie.

Despite what you might think, this even continues after Jason’s revival. Jason is still used less as a character and more as a motivation for Bruce. He’s regularly called emotional and hysterical (terms usually used to refer to women).

Jason is first and foremost a victim. A role performed by women in most media. Men are expected to be stoic and “rise above” the things done to them as to not be victims, as continuously shown by the way characters like Nightwing are not allowed to be effected by the horrific things they go through. The fact that Jason is shown the be angry, and sad, and emotional, constantly, and the fact that he’s punished and vilified for it puts him in a place much more similar to a female character.

There’s a reason that so many Jason fans (that like him for a reason past “antihero with guns”) are female. For most characters, when you swap their genders there would be a pretty clear and big difference in the way their story takes place. If you swap Jason’s gender, the story takes place identically.

A lot of this is best shown in men’s reactions to Arkham Knight’s version of Jason. In that game, Jason is similarly angry and emotional, albeit for slightly different reasons. He is also still unmistakably a victim. You’d think the men playing would like him. After all he’s a big cool angsty guy with a lot of guns and muscles. Instead, a lot of men’s thought that he was whiny. That his feelings were annoying.

There’s also something to be said about how his autonomy is regularly undermined by Bruce (specifically in Gotham war) and how his decisions and feeling are constantly treated as if they’re worth less than Bruce’s, but that’s a discussion for another day.

Hazbinverse Salt: Stella

Okay I finally gathered my thoughts about why, as a swan aficionado, I dislike Stella's design so much. I'm also going to point out what I would change.

Too much going on while bland at the same time:

On first glance it looks good enough but the more I think abou the more I start to scream internally

So many feathers, face is cluttered, isn't very regal, even her arms (why not make the gloved full length?)

Dress is TERRIBAD

Honestly the design tries so hard it ends up boring

Except for feathers and color palette her design doesn't reflect her basis very well

HER NECK IS TOO SHORT

Either make the dress solid with less feathers and keep the "hair"

Or you could keep the feather dress and make her hair shorter in length

Alternatively turn the hair into a bridal train to symbolize her purpose

Also if her (assumedly full-blood) brother is a peacock wouldn't it make more sense for her to be a peahen?

Eh I'd make her a mixed species; and also include peafowl feathers as part of the dress or an accessory

Long hair + big ass lashes + crown = cluttered face

Again I would shorten the hair length or style it differently

SHORTEN THOSE EYELASHES

Somebody pointed out that her lashes are so long they literally blend into to the background

Change the eyes back to pilot's blue to match Andre & pop out from all the pink&purple

Silhouette isn't very regal

For someone groomed to be royalty she doesn't look like it

HER NECK IS TOO SHORT WHERE'S THAT GRACEFUL S SHAPE SWANS ARE KNOWN FOR

Amp up the design to be Victorian/Edwardian inspired: that's when circuses really blew up in popularity; fits the circus theme of Hazbin

Some historical refs I found

See one of them even has feathers!

Instead of a gradient top make it a solid color and the top layer of skirt the same color; end with a gradient or keep it solid

Change the bottom layer to a lighter purple or pink

Lack of dark colors makes her evil less conspicuous

Probably stripes or a star pattern her name means star after all

Keep the short sleeves

The more evil Stella grows the darker her palette becomes; maybe more plums and maroons with hot pink

Cluttered Face AND hair = mess

Again I'd keep the head hairless and change the eyes to short lashes and blue orbs

If Goetia shouldn't she have celestial motifs?

Have a star shaped crown or jewellery

Make her palette sunset themed

Since Stella means star have her wear solar themed clothing at times

at least SOME heat based power to contrast her brother's ice; since she is demonic royalty I guess she should have some magical power

Having a bit of power shows that she is more of a threat than given credit for; justifies why she's an equal match for Stolas

IT FITS HER PERSONALITY

Adds a sense of tragedy: her power never recognized for their potential due to outdated ideals of hell

Which in turn legitimizes Charlie's crusade; changing Hell for the better would prevent future situations like Stella

Tragically, Stella succumbs to her flaws instead of growing out of them; tragic, complex villain instead of a cartoon caricature for wittle ol' woobie owl to overcome

Aaaand that's about it. I might draw my dream look for Stella. I think as someone who's supposed to be a villain she should've had a way better design. The Pretty Pink Princess turns out to be a total witch. Cool concept, uncool execution.

I’m not sure but I thought I might as well ask

is Yev based on Yzma from Emperors New Groove? Some of the reasons I thought this was due to his hairstyle (high ponytail) looking similar to one of Yzmas hairstyles where her black hair is pointed out or represents the lavender feather(?)/accessory , the purple makeup suiting her equally purple color scheme, and the mention of the “secret” lab which is like Yzmas lab in the palace. Also (this might be wrong) I think Quispe (his last name) is Quechua which is a language spoken in different South American countries such as Peru (which Emperors New Groove is based/set in).

Even if not I think Pomefiore is a great dorm for Yzma since she has been known to be stylish in the movie changing into several different outfits + the original concept of the movie was going to make her hate the sun since she blames it on making her age faster (snuff out the light was going to be her villains solo I recommend searching it on YouTube)

He wears blue, turquoise earrings and is always seen wearing purple eyeshadow, dark eyeliner, and wine colored lipstick. He is often wearing a polite smile and critical gaze.

Personality

Yev is a confident, haughty young man who is self-assured in his looks and skills. He is well known to dislike being questioned by his underclassmen, holding very few in either equal standing or high-regards. Because of this, he is quick to point out others’ flaws when others point out his own shortcomings, known to be overly harsh when doing so. Over the years, this has made him overly critical of others to the point that he is condescending to most, especially to those that aren’t of his same social status.

Despite this, he is renowned for his skills as an upcoming potionologist, sought out by both cosmetic and pharmaceutical scientists for his unique skills in transformation potions and spells. Surprisingly, when compared to his predecessor, Yev has no issue getting dirty and cluttered when experimenting in his makeshift laboratory and enjoys making new discoveries, sharing them with others. He also has no qualms in involving others in his tests, allowing other students to take his potions and note down their reactions rather than testing them himself.

8. What's something that the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?

Kiyoshi 🧡 :

Of course it has to be the fandom's need to exaggerate Kiyoshi's bad temper and tendencies to say some foul things. My man has a bad temper, yes, but the fandom is acting like he can't chill, like everything pisses him off all the time and that just makes him look like a terrible person. We've seen him relaxed when he was walking with Taisuke after the exams that day. We know he is actually pretty generous and kind, he literally gave his personal items to Shintaro because they were his lucky items. We heard how genuine and sweet he can be when he finds Shintaro and Kazunari fooling around with the piano (from the special CD). People act like he is just angry all the time and ignore his better sides and all of his other qualities, hobbies and personality traits. He is just a little moody and irritable, like all of us are sometimes. He is just a human, he experiences ups and he experiences downs, he has good and he has bad days. His foul language also has nothing to do with his actions! Has he ever thrown a pineapple on someone's head? Has he ever buried, fried, ran someone over with Shinsuke's pick up truck? I don't think so. The worst he's done was smack the back of Shintaro's head to help him regain his composure. He's all bark, no bite and I will say that a million times if I have to!

Yuuya 💛 :

People usually ignore his existence, which I obviously don't like. When they don't, which is rare, they tend to do the same thing they do to his brother. They make him out to be nothing but an angry, violent man, which I might dislike even more! Just because his brother is a little moody and irritable doesn't mean that Yuuya is, too! We've seen him throw a basketball on Kazunari's head with the signature 'I will kick you' and people decided to base his personality off that one moment. There isn't much about him, but we do know a few interesting things that his personality could be based off. We know he has a picture of Tae-Chan on his phone (which is pretty cute and wholesome if you ask me), that he becomes the captain of the Shutoku Basketball Club (which is a pretty big achievement), that his eyes are same as his brothers, that he is a Taurus (a sign that's known for being very stubborn and hard-working but also very sweet, genuine, family-oriented and honest) and that he got angry when someone humiliated his big brother on National TV (I would be pissed, too). All of that, and people choose to take the one characteristic they already took for his brother and exaggerate it. I just really wish people didn't do that.

14. Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character?

Kiyoshi 🧡 : I always thought Kiyoshi's hair looked really soft and fluffy and I would like to believe that it's something he would also love to achieve with his fashion. I think he would prefer style to comfort and that he would wear something rather classy as well. So, he would likely wear a vest and a shirt, some comfortable dress pants and dress shoes. When he's feeling cozy and comfortable he would wear a shirt underneath a stylish sweater with baggy jeans and with some comfortable sneakers, or dress shoes yet again. What would make him achieve the soft look would be pastel colors! So, imagine all of that in beige, baby blue, light orange, pink, lavender... He wouldn't add any unnecessary accessories, as he believes that keeping it simple is the best way to make a good outfit. He would not look for any attention with his fashion, and this is something that looks average enough, but still fashionable and stylish! I am not sure what that fashion aesthetic is called, but my Pinterest research says it's something like soft-boy and light academia!

Yuuya 💛 :

His hair suggests that he likes to look a little sharper and a little more dangerous than an average person. I can see him wear something rather punk and emo, something that would make him look a little unapproachable and a little scary. With that said, he would mostly wear darker and non-saturated colors, as well as rough textures like leather or denim! Considering we've seen him wear a skirt, I wouldn't be surprised if he was comfortable with wearing feminine clothes or even makeup. Jackets, vests, crop-tops, band t-shirts, baggy or tight, low-rise pants, skirts, shorts, baggy pants and ripped versions of all those items would make up 99% of his wardrobe. I can also see him adding lots of interesting accessories like rings, belts, chains, necklaces, earrings! He would absolutely kill the style if he had some extra ear or face piercings and wore something like a smeared black eyeliner! Not sure what this aesthetic is called yet again, but I hope you got the idea of what I meant!

23. Favorite picture of this character?

Picking only one is tough, so I will make categories yet again! Unfortunately, Yuuya doesn't have a lot of screenshots and almost no appearances in the Replace Plus novels, games, CDs and the movie... Still, I included everything I could find!

Hi!! I hope you're having a great day/night/afternoon!! I used to watch your OC videos all the time when I was younger!! Glad to see you uploading on YouTube again, and I loved your Kai video!! I was wondering if you have any tips (or tricks) for character ref sheets, as I'm currently developing one for an OC of mine! I already have a backstory, a color palette, as well as references, but I'm not sure how to go from there. The character themself (as in like body size), clothing designs, accessories, the placement of everything on the ref sheet? You, of course, don't have to reply to this, but any comments would help!!

Hi! Thanks so much for watching my videos! I think this is a fantastic question. I love making character sheets, and I'd do them a lot more often if they weren't so time consuming. (Though, they don't have to be -- I think its a me problem lol!) But they're SUPER handy both for whoever you may commission to draw them, and yourself if said character has a detail heavy design. Even if this character sheet is just for you, I think it's fun to look at it from the perspective of a hypothetical someone who desires to cosplay (or draw or 3D model) your character and needs a sheet in which to ref from! What things do you think they'd need? I absolutely recommend making a few notes of what you want to spotlight, and doing some thumbnails on how you want to section things out. (they don't have to be this neat, like, AT ALL lmao)

What angles would be helpful to see? What particular accessories would someone value a closer a closer look at?

These refs of Kai and Samos are a little old now, but I don't consider them out of date even though there's a few things I'd change! Here I have a fairly clear idea of what both characters look like from the front and back, while highlighting important stuff like Samos' front pockets' which are partially covered by the sash. If you have the room, you could even add things like extra props/accessories to give the artists you potential commission things to have your OC interact with. Or! facial expressions to give them a good visual of their personality.

As for extra clothing designs I'd make a separate sheets using a premade character base and play dress up with them like a paper doll.

If there's a detail heavy prop the OC in question has on them frequently (like a satchel or a weapon) a mini ref sheet just for that thing might be useful! You could showcase all the pockets in a bag or how magic looks being casted out of a staff. I hope any of this was helpful! I wouldn't get too caught up in aesthetics or the structure of the sheet, because you'll get a feel for that as you work. If you enjoy doing it, and find it worth your while to invest more time in, make multiple sheets! Of the stuff they keep in their bag, what their favorite foods are, likes and dislikes, hairstyles, ect. Even if it stops being a ref for art, it's fun to just have more visuals to learn about a character.

I’ve read a lot of ATLA posts that express anger at the writers or Gene Yang for butchering Azula’s character or being unable to understand her at all and it gave me an epiphany. I may be wrong with this and it might be pure speculation based on the info I’ve got but I think the writers didn’t understand Azula not because of incompetence but because they wanted her to be a crazy, one-dimensional villain whose badassery and power would be appealing without giving the audience the idea that her complexities exist. That’s a crucial detail to have in mind: Azula’s complexities and depth are shallow and useless.

Ok, describing it this way may sound weird or contradictory but it makes sense. Her upbringing for example, as tragic as it is, doesn’t give the audience the chance to connect/relate to her because it is framed in a way that makes it look as if it’s Azula’s fault that she is the way she is or that she’s neglected by her family.

Ursa’s shortcomings as a mother to her? Azula’s fault for being too close to Ozai and emulating him.

Iroh not caring to know her at all? Azula’s fault for disliking him.

Zuko’s pain and struggles and their chaotic relationship? Azula’s fault for being the prodigy instead of the submissive and invisible younger sister.

And so on and so on.

The writers make her complex not to construct Azula as a flawed, layered, and tragic person who despite her power and skills feels trapped in a toxic environment, they want her complexities to be accessories. You know, frivolous and useless.

And if those accessories add anything it will be for other characters’ arcs that may get in her way. Like, she’s the big bad guy’s prodigy that needs to be taken down so let’s forget that Azula has been molded, abused, and pitted against his brother by her own father.

She’s the reason the only hope of the world, Aang, was almost extinguished so let’s forget that she’s a child like him thrust into a senseless war and that she wasn’t the only one focused on capturing the Avatar (you know, Zuko)

Azula was never a character that was supposed to make the audience analyze the effects toxic relationships and war have on children no matter if they are born in a palace or in a town and how war propaganda can turn that child’s talents into deadly weapons while stealing their childhood.

And that is because the writers or Gene Yang framed Azula as a ‘cool crazy villain’ or an obstacle to overcome. And if her depth made her cooler then the better as long as she is just a mean to an end.

As a young girl, she would look at the glamour of Redshore City and dream about being its princess, where everyone loved her and everyone wanted to be her friend. She developed a rather unhealthy obsession with living like a fairy tale princess, as princesses had everything she didn’t. As she grew up, she knew the best way to get this admiration was to go into the entertainment industry. She worked hard to improve her acting and singing and became a small-time theatre actress. Eventually she worked her way to the top. It was during her career that she met Klaus. At first they didn’t get on, but eventually they realised they were similar: two animals, often made fun of because of how they look, who were hard working and determined to become the best in their respective careers regardless. Each respected how the other maintained their elegance and sophistication despite their situations. This respect grew into more romantic feelings, though Cadence ignored it at first. Cadence subconciously didn’t believe she deserved love, and this manifested as a desire for a perfect “happily ever after”, causing her to deny her feelings for Klaus for a long time.

- you can give him absolutely any name you want to give him, but if you don't wanna put that effort in, you can just call him evan. but he's absolutely open to any name you give him (unless they're slurs then... yknow. of course not)

- the markings on his face has always been there even on his green life, i just couldn't draw it in his regular profile due to the angle of his face.

- the markings on his thumb is the same of both hands while the ones on his index finger (as shown in pic) is also on the other 8 fingers. nothing special about them, he just likes to have them. same goes with all his accessories and jewelry, he just likes to have them. do they make him look ostentatious? yes. does he care? absolutely not.

- yes, he will go shirtless on his red life. it's purely impractical but he will absolutely do them for no reason other than he wants to. (he will still wear armor while fighting, he's not that big of a doofus) (or he will just wear the turtleneck crop top. either way the shirt still comes off)

- they have a pocket watch somewhere on their person. but they'll only look at it when they're alone. yes, it's his prized possession and will not tolerate anyone who steals it or uses it against him.

- the gems on his horn accessories and earrings are his life indicator. on yellow life, they'll all turn yellow but everything else about him will remain pretty much the same.

- i haven't rlly thought about his deaths but he's most likely to die while caving, or in the nether, or during pvp. in last life, he might be dealt 3 lives, and would not think to ask anybody for more.

Phantasy star online 2: New Genesis Kvaris Impressions

It is time to be cool. New genesis dropped the new update and content. And I want to talk about it and share my thoughts on it and what have you. There is a lot of good content in this update. It has been the awaited update and content and I am just one of many who have thoughts on this update. There is a lot to talk about here.

I will start with the good things here.

The good things

Level 60 cap. You can do more damage and reach a higher level of power and farming has been made easy. Yellow triggers give you the full amount of exp and got rid of the Exp reduction which is a godsend.

New Units (Armor) They look nice, offer base damage which makes them stronger, and are 6-star units too. The units are a good upgrade from your 5-star units and worth getting.

Free weapons* I added "*" because you get free 6-star weapons (One or two), so long you have completed the campaign quests leading up to Kvaris. They give out tickets used to get camo, 6-star weapons, accessories, special tickets, and materials.

New Urgent Quests Crocodylis Vera Suppression Op is a fine UQ. I think it is fun and it makes use of the Kvaris mechanics. "Throwing" and the big one that overshadows it, Ams Vera Suppression Op. You rush down monsters, dolls, and mini-bosses before coming face to face with Ams Vera, and man, this is a great boss to fight, and the music is amazing. Chef's kiss.

New region. It is all snow and I love this region. You can snowboard which are pretty much mounts in some sense but it is fun, let's not get things mixed up here. The ost for exploration is pretty great stuff here. I would even go so far as to say it is better than Retem, Ost. There is one area I want to talk about but not yet. It will get its time in the sun, don’t worry.

New buffs and skills. New skills for old classes, and buffs to make old classes feel brand new or give them a need to pick me up. From what I saw there was a clear favorite on what class got the most buffs, and braver got a lot of love. Other classes got love too and should feel a bit better to play.

Field races. I am interested in this since you are racing against players but not too sure how this would work or how well this would do. I can’t speak on this since I have not tried this event but may try it after this post.

But wait, there’s more. Darkfalz rank 2 and ancient giga will be coming out soon, so there is even more content to look forward to. I would call ancient giga mini content but it is something if you like farming for the augments or units, and maybe more?

Now, this update has been great and a blast so far. There is a bad part to this update and things I don’t like and I should mention it.

Bad things if you want to call it that or one bad thing.

The game is unstable. While the update is so far amazing and fun to play through. This region is laggy, unstable, and prone to being disconnected from the game but more than likely your game will end up not responding and will need to be closed. And these crashes can happen at random. And it will look like this.

Things I just dislike/or am not fond of.

Rayjord Gorge. This is an optional area but not a fan. This is the only area where you need to either use mag buffs or consumable items to deal with the cold, that has a chance to freeze you and do damage.

Or two you make a new set of units for this one section of the region which this area might be for farming rare items here and seven-star weapons and so on. If I do make a new unit set for this area, I will see how it is but atm, not a fan.

My final thoughts on Kvaris.

I think this is a great addition to Phantasy star online 2: New Genesis. It has nice changes, some good QOL features, and more content that is fun to play. And I feel that we got decold as a mechanic to test to see what people think, since it may come back as deheat or something like that

New story I didn't enjoy too much. It did have some good moments in there but those were few and far for me. But the story is very short, but may be a bit longer once we get the next update. The story was ok, nothing will beat PSO2's story for me. But might change later on.

The game is at this moment, very unstable as I mentioned before. Fps drops in some areas or the safe zone, the game crashes on a whim whenever it feels like and this is bad. You can play through it but know that you run the risk of the game crashing on you at any point. During loading, doing yellow triggers, and quests.

This could be because something in the kvaris code is clashing or reacting poorly to something in the game code. It will be fixed in a few days if they find the cause of these issues, but it is not fun. It is not an "omg, not playable anymore" You have to be ready or not do anything too important if the game crashes.

But besides all of that. I still had a good time playing this update, and it is an update I do enjoy. Once Sega fixes these crashes, I will have more fun.

first ship ever: Oh man, no idea. Something from Greek mythology maybe? Or from one of those compulsory readings in middle school? Maybe earlier?

last song you heard: This. Also in French. It's apparently based on an actual love curse song and I can't stop listening to it.

favourite childhood book: Either a two-volume book on Greek mythology or the Mary Poppins series. I received the Greek mythology book when I was about 6 and it was the first "serious" book I managed to read all by myself (I'd only read some Bamse beforehand). I used to like the first volume, the one on gods, better than the second one which focused on the heroes, which I found sort of boring. I wanted to read about cool powers and the like, not guys doing things. I lent the books to a friend a few years ago and haven't seen them since, but I recently leafed through the volumes at another friend's house (every kid has them), and noticed my tastes have sort of reversed now.

As for Mary Poppins... I still remember that frustrating Midsummer Eve volume which created more mysteries instead of answering longstanding questions. Immortal Mary? ??? Also that Halloween chapter where I would mentally replace the park and lane with the park across the street and my own street. My mental image of the MP world was half whatever I read, half my own home. (I only watched the Disney movie much, much later and found it rather disappointing.)

currently reading: - A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. I had forgotten how verbose he is! I appreciate the irony/dry humour but there are so many unneeded passages. It's also quite quotable, in fact it contains my favourite quote ever that I learnt of before knowing the book.

Alamut by Vladimir Bartol. It's ok so far, I'm only ~70 pages in, so I can't draw a conclusion, but I can't say I'm awed or anything. I'd be tempted to blame the translation, but it might also be my expectations (cool assassin action yeah!) vs reality (newcomer learns about stuff in painstaking detail).

The House on the Borderland by W. H. Hodgson. Literally just started it, I'm looking forward to being spooked. I've only read two other things by Hodgson, The Voice in the Night, which I can't remember for the life of me, and The Night Land, which I read the only time I worked in an office and I still can't tell whether reading that book or working in an office was worse. I Very Much Dislike working in an office if you couldn't tell.

currently watching: The Last Kingdom. I quite like it, despite the biker vikings and the ridiculous premise that everything in (future) England worked thanks to 1 (one) guy™ and some REALLY unneeded character changes (historical power couple turned into lil bitch husband vs long suffering wife who fucks the protag of course). Can't talk yet about the writing quality after Netflix took over (started season 4), but I do appreciate the better costumes and accessories. People finally wear rings, necklaces, brooches, armbands etc! Wew. I do not appreciate the Middle Ages filter even though some colour does manage to make its way on screen from time to time. I also miss the battle tactics, but well, as long as the character interactions are nice...

Throughout history, humans have sought ways to alter their bodies, transcending mere physical limitations to become powerful tools for shaping identity and promoting individual expression (Featherstone 2000 ). Unlike previous generations, our generation now can fully control our bodies, allowing us to freely adorn ourselves with unique clothing and accessories to express our personalities without being heavily influenced by others' opinions. Body modification serves as a powerful tool to shape identity and expression, enabling individuals to tell their stories, reclaim their narratives, and carve out unique paths in the world.

Body modifications, including tattoos, piercings and scars, as well as implants and other changes in the body, provide unmatched opportunities for people to write their own stories. They work as a part of a person's story, showing aspects of one's own identity which the language could have difficulty expressing. To some, the act of body modification signifies a liberating experience, a way to claim their identity aligned with their bodies, especially in situations wherein their bodies have been constricted or controlled by the societal guidelines of beauty (Bradley University 2023). For transgender people, this would mean using modifications to make their body as close to what they are feeling inside. Through the years, science and art jointly expanded the territory of body modification or "Body Modification" to be very promising with a range of possibilities. Understanding the Fear of Body Modification: Unfamiliarity, Societal Norms, and Cultural Influences

Body modification, can and does cause fear and discomfort in some individuals through a combination of many and different elements. To begin with, the fear of the new and the unknown can insinuate the lack of comprehension of the intentions of those in pursuit as it can appear to others as unnatural and strange. Above all, body modifications beyond simple forms, especially the extensive ones, may challenge the established social norms pertaining the physical appearance and may cause a feeling of discomfort the people used to the traditional and preconceive any physical changes as a threat to society. On top of the complicity with pain and the intentional tampering with the mean body integrity, this act of deliberate alteration stirs revulsion. The negative representations in the popular media and cultural myths, connecting body modification to anarchy or deviance, as well, contribute to these fears' growing. While cultural and religious realities might cause the same reactions, some people would condemn it or even express their dislike towards body modifications based on their special beliefs or taboos.

Until now, those who undergo body modification have often not been positively received in society. However, those who undergo body modification are often determined to become their true selves. They know exactly what they want and are not easily influenced by others' opinions. They have the courage to seek and become the best version of themselves, regardless of what society says. This demonstrates determination and autonomy in building and expressing oneself, and that's why they deserve respect and recognition for their personal freedom.

Body modification vs social media:

Body modification and social media have become intricately linked in the 21st century, presenting a nuanced relationship with both positive and negative implications. On one hand, social media platforms offer spaces for individuals with body modifications to connect, share experiences, and foster communities, promoting a sense of belonging and acceptance. Moreover, social media serves as a platform for individuals to express themselves and explore their identities through showcasing their body modifications, empowering those challenging societal norms. However, social media also perpetuates unrealistic ideals of body modification, fostering pressure to conform to online trends and potentially exacerbating negative body image issues. Additionally, misinformation about procedures and risks on social media may lead individuals to make uninformed decisions or seek unqualified practitioners, increasing the risk of complications. While social media can offer valuable connections and platforms for self-expression, it is essential to approach its content critically, prioritize responsible practices, and prioritize mental and physical well-being above online trends.

Personal thought

For me personally, seeing someone with extreme body modifications could be a total head-turner at first. Maybe even a little scary, and I'll admit, maybe a bit judgmental. But here's the thing: the more I learned about why people choose these mods, the more my perspective flipped. Turns out, there's a whole lot more going on than just wanting to look different. We're talking deep personal reasons, self-expression on a whole new level, and sometimes even a connection to cultural identity. It's definitely not something to just judge at first glance.

I am no longer a Taylor fan but I do agree some blogs take things too far. I personally think most people’s issues with Taylor is her lack of accountability. 

She is responsible for a ridiculous amount of pollution to the earth. Denying this is not benefiting anyone. Her plane needs to be tracked for safety (This post explains it best: https://the-real-seebs.tumblr.com/post/741634414805712896/yeah-i-think-shes-just-completely-unambiguously). She has a history of suing people for petty reasons. She is in the wrong here. 

She is not responsible for a war happening on the other side of the earth and I personally don’t care how famous someone is I prefer it when celebrities don’t speak on such issues as they are often misinformed because most are just like the rest of us when it comes to knowledge around these topics and their platforms can actually result in lots of people’s focus drifting from the actual issue and redirecting onto what the celeb has said. 

I don’t particularly agree with her behaviour at the GRAMMYs but I don’t think it’s world ending. She blanked Celine Dion, ok that sucks, she took a photo after. I’m sure she apologised at the time of the photo and I’m sure Celine was sweet about it and it didn’t bother her too much if at all. 

Anyone judging her based on her looks and saying she’s ugly or whatever is immature. Ugly is not reason enough to hate someone. She is pretty. Even if she’s not your “type” she is still an attractive individual. I liked her GRAMMYs dress but didn’t like her accessories. That’s not a criticism on her. 

I don’t agree with sending hate to Taylor Fan Blogs but you can’t argue that there are Taylor Fan Blogs that go out of their way to bully and harass people with opposing viewpoints. I like to believe most Taylor fans are relatively normal but the extreme fans are the ones that are the loudest. Same goes for most people which dislike her, the hate blogs are either a platform for those who dislike her to vent or the extreme haters. They are two sides of the same coin really. Both can have extreme views, both call the other side out for their inappropriate behaviour, both question and theorise about Taylors personal and professional life. 

I understand why you made this blog and I respect your belief in reducing hate but I think your energy is matching that of the “hate” blogs. You expect the hate blogs to be open minded about her and yet you yourself are close minded because you are presented with facts and still deny them. I also agree with some of the anons that call you out for posting in the “anti Taylor Swift” tag, like I said before most people in that tag just want a place to vent. 

You can actually debate without attacking people who raise valid concerns. And you can still remain a fan of someone without agreeing with everything they say or do. This all or nothing attitude is exhausting (and that’s for all fandoms not just Taylor’s)

I hope you take this at face value and don’t interpret it as rude or condescending. I am genuinely sending this in the most non-confrontational way possible. 

I agree with almost everything you stated here except the part where you’re comparing me to the hate blogs. I have been nice when it comes to most of them. But when they attack or try to bully me, I will stand up for myself.

That isn’t me being close minded. I also haven’t agreed with everything she does. I can see how you might think that based on my posts, but I really haven’t. I agree she shouldn’t be flying so much, I agree that her CO2 emissions are bad. I agree that she should be held accountable for her jet usage but when it’s done at the expense of her location.

One of the reasons why I continue to post in the tag, it’s usually in response to hate or responding to a hate blog. And I barely tag my posts. I think the most is 4. I don’t really get the issue when they’re fine with literal hate blogs being in the tag but have a problem with a blog who’s just defending Taylor from outrageous reasons.

I know you had good intentions with this ask but there really isn’t a way not to be rude when you compare me to the taylor hate blogs when my behavior isn’t similar at all.

My thoughts on IVE official lightstick:

First of all, about the right time! Previously it would have been too soon but they waited enough (1 year) and 2 years would start to get a bit of a nuisance.

Initially I was deluded by the design: This is now what we call the “Standard lightstick” , do not attack them, many other groups in past have had the exact same and I don’t believe it is an issue as I believe it is nice to see, seems quite comfortable, the only problem is that too many groups who have it seem to not add much to the design and the lightstick could be considered as an almost meaningless investment unless you are a HUGE fan. Like Gfriend (Korean) lightsticks, Cravity, Aespa (that will probably change lightstick before January 2024) ,Enhypen and a bit like Cosmic Girls.

IVE is one of those groups that either should put all efforts in it (like VIVIZ! or Seventeen) or it’s fine to give the standard design to with the pact that Dives are all fully committed on decorating theirs in different ways.

But if it is the second case than I want Starship Entertainment to make them do a video of the members decorating it with A LOT of accessories,glitters,flowers etc available, possibly giving them days to decide the design (so that they don’t make something last minute and it comes out dull). I would also like if the video has at least 30 minutes and it would help a lot if the lightstick came with a few accessories. Because yes, it gets the fans consider decorating and I really like these videos, it also might be their only time so 30+ minutes is the video length necessary. The members might stay decorate for at least 1 hour in real time. I want a lightstick tour too!

They could start by giving the interior in different colours so that Dives could change it: I am talking about the logo and the (unnoticeable) bow, also possibly both glittered already. Imagine a glittered hot pink logo and glittered teal bow? What about a velvet or a glitter paper to put on the base next to where the lights come from? They better get this right, I am already getting decorations ideas and I have never decorated a thing in my entire life.

By the way, I might be nit picking it but I dislike the bottom: It should have been IVE’s logo; not some messaging sign.
