hello there! sincere question, why do you think there are so many omegas in miscecanis (I think I misspelled that but close enough) I myself prefer Alpha but I like nests anyway but I never really did traditional things for my first sex why start now with my "second sex" thingy whatever it's called
also I will likely be a reoccurring anon so call me Cumin, I will sign all my asks
Hi!!
I think that there’s a lot of omegas in the miscecanis community because the traits assigned to omegas are really relateable for a lot of us. Here’s some reasons I can think of:
People who enjoy and write a/b/o, for the most part, have been socialized as women. Omegaverse explores topics of power as it relates to gender and bodies. This trope creates a space for a reader to play with those ideas within the safety of fiction! So, it makes sense that those who feel so strongly about these ideas that they’d identify with them (miscecanis) would tend to feel that way about the omega experience. That perspective is so central to the trope that is literally in the name “omegaverse”. (For a great breakdown of this idea, see this video essay)
A HUGE portion of the miscecanis community is trans and nonbinary, especially afab. Of course not every trans person feels the same way, but many of us find safety in or resonate with omega anatomy. Omega anatomy isn’t consistent between verses, but it always breaks the binary norms that society imposes on our bodies. It’s really appealing to self identify with a role that is in agreement with our bodies, rather than in conflict.
Here’s a post where I wrote about this topic before
For me, this last point has been true in various stages of my transition. When I was at my most dysphoric, my omega identity was my greatest refuge. I’m more comfortable now but it’s still very important to my gender.
Neurodivergence and typical omega behaviors is another big one. I mean come on, nesting?!? Heck yeah. I think that people might feel that because they enjoy the features typically attributed to omegas like nesting, sweet scents, nurturing roles in relationships, etc., that must make them an omega. It’s really okay if that’s why someone picks their role! But like you mentioned anon, you’re an alpha who likes to nest, that’s really great too. I think that behaviors are a starting point for many people and that could be another reason why there are more omegas in miscecanis.
(Also omegas are often doted on and yknow what?? who doesn’t want that)
The simplest answer though: most a/b/o is written with omega protagonists. The protagonist is the character you empathize with the most, your window into the world of the story. When most of the omegaverse you read comes from the perspective of omegas, that might end up feeling the most familiar!

Cilantro Lamb and Broad Bean Soup
Tumblr media
On a grey and wet day, this fragrant, brothy and hearty Cilantro Lamb and Broad Bean Soup is a warming hug in a plate, a comforting dish which elevates leftovers into a properly delicious meal! Happy Thursday!
Ingredients (serves 2):
2 heaped teaspoons Capon Fat
1 teaspoon Graines à Roussir
300 grams/10.5 ounces leftover Roast Lamb
a small bunch fresh Cilantro
1 garlic clove, minced
1/2 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce
1 1/4 litre/5 cups water
1 cup frozen broad beans
1 tablespoon demerara sugar
Melt Capon Fat in a large pot over medium-high heat.
In a mortar, quickly crush Graines à Roussir with the pestle, and add them to the hot, melted Capon Fat. Fry, a couple of minutes until fragrant.
Meanwhile, with a sharp knife, cut leftover Roast Lamb into thin slices, and add to the pot. Cook well, to brown nicely, a few minutes.
Finely chop half of the Garden Cilantro, and stir into the Lamb, along with minced garlic. Cook, 3 minutes more.
Then, season with black pepper, and deglaze with sweet soy sauce. Stir in 1 litre of the water, and bring to a rolling boil. Cook, stirring often, for about 10 minutes, then reduce heat to low, cover with a lid, a simmer, 2 hours.
Bring a small pot of salted water to the boil. Once boiling, add broad beans, and cook, about 5 minutes. Drain broad beans, and immediately plunge in a bowl of ice water to stop cooking and cool.
Once cooled, peel broad beans.
Once the broth has reduced and is very fragrant, stir in demerara sugar until dissolved.
Add broad beans, and gradually stir in remaining water. Bring to the boil.
Finely chop remaining Garden Cilantro.
Serve Cilantro Lamb and Broad Bean Soup very hot, sprinkled with chopped Cilantro,

Hello, Cumin here, thanks for the response and as a neurodivergent person yeah that makes sense
anyway NEW QUESTION (I have lots of those take your time please be patient): how would an alpha nesting work normally? I know how it works for me rn, but I wonder how others may nest, and tbh I'm looking for ideas
hey Cumin! please don't worry at all about sending lots of asks, they make my day :)
Alpha nesting really depends on the person! I know of a lot of miscecanis alphas who nest just as enthusiastically as omegas, as well as alphas who nest to a lesser degree, and alphas who don't nest. My alpha likes to nest sometimes, but her definition of nest doesn't include nearly as many blankets and pillows as mine does :P i think that her favorite kind of nest are the ones that i make though, and when she cuddles up in them, she considers that nesting for her as well.
I can't speak for other miscecanis folks, but I headcanon that alphas (and betas) in a/b/o would nest for similar instinctual reasons as omegas, but they might have different behaviors around their nest. some ideas:
alphas tend to be territorial about their den, and if that alpha is a nester, they are likely to be even more territorial about that nest
alphas with an omega mate might be less likely to build a nest because omegas tend to be so proud of making nests for themself and their mate
omega nests might be pretty fluffy with lots of pillows and blankets and scented items-- I feel like alpha nests are less fluffy, but have even more scented items to remind them of their pack or their loved ones
alphas only nest in a place where they feel absolutely secure. omegas and betas keep private nests too, but they might be more likely to also nest on the couch or somewhere less private like that
if you think that an alpha's den smells strongly, wait till you smell their nest
bonus hc: beta nesters are known for nesting in unconventional places like under their desk, and they are the best at incorporating boxes, tables, shelves, etc in order to keep their favorite things within reach of the nest
if you're looking for nest building advice, check out these posts!
my post with a guide to building/writing nests
post about nesting materials
post about hot weather nesting
at the end of the day though, please don't worry about doing it wrong. there's literally no way to do it wrong, because nesting is about what feels good to you. there's no right way for an alpha to nest compared to an omega or a beta or anyone else. if you're a nester, then nest on :)

Made this yesterday and wanted more, so I made it again.
Fried some cumin, Aleppo pepper, black pepper, and MSG in butter, fried some eggs in that, then took the eggs out and fried sliced grape tomatoes, mini naan, and chives in more butter
