I'm still not well so this isn't going to be articulate, but I wanted to say something anyway.
In the wake of Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies (amongst other titles) being purged from streaming I've seen countless posts saying "This is terrible, we need to stop this practice -- they might purge a good show next!" and yeah, for sure a lot of titles being impacted by streaming purges/lack of physical media/a decline in archiving right now aren't going to be remembered for changing the world.
However, I think it is vital that we fight to preserve these titles for their own sake not just because "What if next time it's something we actually like?!" There is value is preserving things widely regarded as "bad" not just because I have firm beliefs about the absurdity of taste, but because who gives a shit if something is deemed "good?" Actual human people put their time and energy into realising these artistic visions. Even if the results are arguably not "good" or "popular", should the efforts of these artists be lost to the sands of time? No, no they fucking shouldn't.
I share a lot of art on this blog from titles very few people consider culturally important or valuabe. However, I don't look at the things I collect & share like that. Even some of the most objectively absurd titles I own are still pieces of art that were developed, published, and consumed by humans in the real world. Whether they've turned out to be broadly memorable or not is irrelevant because they existed and that in itself makes them worthy of preservation so that others can choose to familiarise themselves with them long after the original creative team is gone.
So yes, we should all be trying to preserve the media that's important to us and not let corporations try to stamp out every trace of a financial (though not necessarily artistic) misstep. However, it shouldn't take the threat of something we, personally, like being taken away to stir us into giving a shit.
Even the demise of less admired works should concern us and make us start to burn copies of Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies because it might not mean anything to you or I right now, but to some kid in 20 years it could be a seminal experience that leads them to follow their dreams. Or it could become a cult classic that people reflect on at watch parties years in the future. Or it could continue to be a footnote in the history of television that nobody really cares about.
Ultimately I don't think it matters what level of value we arbitrarily assign to media now or in the future, we should be trying to preserve as much of it as possible so that generations from now people can enjoy the option of engaging with these titles should they so wish.

i was going through my computer and found a draft for a long tumblr post from 2020 about a day I had where everything was going wrong in kind of a funny series of unfortunate events (I think I did end up posting it back then I just drafted it in word bc it was so long lol) but it's weird to read back bc I'm like wow I sound so young??? it's only been 4 years and 2020 feels like last year but yet I feel like I'm so much more grown than when I wrote that post it's wild

Seriously need to make more friends or go outside more (both things are easier said than done) bc I am a little bit tired of relying on content creation for attention and connection :(

I’m currently going through a minor identity crisis after, like, two weeks ago, at the age of 23, realizing I’m lactose intolerant. I drank some hot chocolate, got a really bad stomach ache, and thought to myself “it’s nothing, I always get a stomach ache after drinking hot chocolate”, remembered I got a stomach ache after eating ice cream two days before and then realized…maybe getting a stomach ache every time you drink hot chocolate (regardless of how little) isn’t…normal. it’s been like that for at least half a year, up to like 2-3 years… I guess I should’ve expected this since my stomach is super sensitive and my dad is lactose intolerant and also Thai (84-96% of Thai people are lactose intolerant depending on which study you look at) … at least lactase enzyme pills seem to work for me so I won’t need to give up ice cream lmao

Wait… Remember when Nick said in a previous update that his source informed him that once the first 3 episodes of s5 were written, filming for those episodes could start as soon as later this year…
It’s giving time jump 5x01-5x03 👀👀👀

covid denial this and mask wars that but yknow I actually think it'd slap if folks made a tangible commitment to wearing masks if they have any respiratory illness (flu, cold, etc) that's transmissible through droplets
i really wish that was a U.S. cultural norm, I've always appreciated it. not everyone bounces back from cold or flu the same way and to me even before covid masking has always said "hey, i care about how i affect you while i'm in your space." and that means something!

people are stupid selfish and short-sighted and I want to throttle someone daily, but I actually blame the government most of all for how unwilling everyone is to just fucking wear a mask to avoid catching and spreading a potentially lethal or disabling disease we barely understand.
it's been 3 whole years of "masks are useless wait no actually wear a mask everywhere wait actually just wear it indoors wait actually just wear it on the bus wait actually it's fine the pandemic is over uh wait actually maybe wear it on the bus wait actually you need to wear it indoors". even the most reasonable person would get tired of that nonsense, and most people are not reasonable.

Dr's be like " GooD News! We can't find anything wrong with you! So keep an eye on your symptoms and come back if anything changes! :D"
.... i guess i'll just keep collapsing/nearly passing out whilst feeling exhausted all the time and being unable to string more than three thoughts together with muscles that ache from sitting and being unable to walk more than 10 mins without getting out of breath then .... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Half my colleagues don't understand/accept the concept of headphones and have full-volume zoom meetings without headphones in their offices along my hall. There is no soundproofing because this building was poorly designed. Even if there was, our offices have both glass windows that face into the hall as well as glass doors with unclosable open window/gaps along the top for airflow.
Some of them also have some of the most naturally booming voices designed to carry that I've ever heard. Across the hall or down the hall it doesn't matter, you can hear every word.
And some of them will do this even when they're on a zoom call with at least one another person in our hallway, and sometimes you can literally hear the echo from one person speaking and then it coming out of another's speakers two doors down.
I'm going to murder my colleagues, is what I'm saying.
