The reblogs are turned off on the post so let me answer here @momthesearemydinnerguests
“It's a major plot point in TVL that after Armand bites him, Lestat drags him out of the hall, beats Armand to a bloody pulp (to the point Armand's face is unrecognizable), and then feels such intense remorse for it that he has to distance himself from everyone for a bit. Even when Lestat begs Louis to tell him he could never love him, it feels like a direct callback to his conversation with Armand after that scene, when he tells Armand that they could never love each other. And the way Lestat drops/throws Louis mirrors the way Armand throws Lestat from the tower later on - which is in itself a direct response to Lestat's abandonment.“
Like… you just answered your own objection?! THAT is what book fans have been pointing out. And the tale being a tale. And all the hints by writers, cast etc. And what Jacob said, too.
It’s not about whether Lestat could do it, or has done it (in other context, and context is important!) to others. (Also Lestat beating up Armand when Armand tried to rape him? NOT the same!)
It’s about the doubts of the tale as it’s being presented and being called names for that.
And now, now that panels etc underline that point, now that the statements that there was indeed “tinkering“ there as said… well. Suddenly there’s people calling it bad writing. etc.
The post was not about abuse in and by itself being non-existent. But I am fed up pretending everything we‘ve seen is to be treated as the truth, when THEY actually, literally say it isn‘t.

I feel like some of you are deliberately missing the point. When Byler shippers say that Byler being canon would be a huge deal/revolutionary, they aren't saying there aren't any LGBTQIA+ stories out there or that there isn't any rep in ST/are undermining Robin/claiming Will is less gay because he isn't in a relationship. They're just saying that Byler would be revolutionary, because it would be the first time a gay ship wins in a love triangle over a het one and it would be one of the first times we get childhood friends to lovers(a popular trope with het romances) in a big and popular show. Instead of bully × his victim and sad gay boy gets paired up with a random underdeveloped guy in the last 5 minutes of the show and other problematic tropes that can be found in LGBTQIA+ characters/dynamics from popular TV shows/franchises.

Datamines do not show intent in a meaningful fashion. Development is a non-linear process.
Sometimes you create a file in advance because you're preparing a whole file structure at once for something that gets changed a week later and forget to clean it up.
Sometimes you make a note for another team in a file, only for the team to make major adjustments while they're working on it without changing those notes because everyone who needs to know about the change already does.
Sometimes you record a bunch of extra stuff, not because it's part of some grand plan for the story, but because it's on a giant list of potential "generic" or fallback lines and you want to get the recordings done in as few sessions as possible.
Sometimes a team member creates something that doesn't seem used in the final product and no one remembers why it was created in the first place, but you leave it in because removing it might break something.
Sometimes you sneak in a snarky comment, weird placeholders, or a goofy test as a bit of harmless fun while working, but only because you expected no one would ever see it outside of your peers.
A person on the internet who says what canon 'was intended' from datamines is the same energy as looking at a pile of breadcrumbs on a table and saying you know exactly what sandwiches were eaten there.
It's fun to speculate. To get insight into a part of games that are purposefully opaque because they didn't make it into the final product. But there's a huge difference between imagining the possibilities for entertainment and deciding you know what happened in rooms you were never in.

I love Stolas and Blitzo’s struggling relationship so much because I relate to Blitzo (and Stolas) in ways I've latched onto. I guess I can see why some people don't like Stolas and his attitude and selfishness and his struggles give them an ick, because ultimately, fiction reflects life. Our favorite characters tend to be people we can project onto or people we wish we had in our lives.
Blitzo doesn't think he can be loved. He makes himself useful so he has some control over the terms in which he is in other people's lives. He doesn't want to be alone, and he doesn't want to be vulnerable enough to chance someone seeing him for what he is and deciding they didn't like it, they didn't like him, and leaving. So he makes himself into something they need, rather than finding someone who wants what he is.
And Stolas wants what he is. Stolas wants him. Stolas's love for Blitzo is an incredibly selfish love, and I understand why so many people don't like that. I can see a lot of people don't like that selfish love, they see real world people they have had bad experiences with in Stolas, and you know, that's what fiction is about.
But I love Stolas and I love Stolitz because I am incredibly satisfied and fulfilled seeing them together. Blitzo needs that selfish love. He needs someone to be selfish about him, to want him unrelated to all the bullshit he hides behind, to want him enough and in such a selfish way they can want him past the bullshit he pulls to push people away.
I've explored that dynamic in other fandoms some, but I cobbled it together from scratch. Not headcannons or anything lime that, just, from writing stories so much I corner myself in a dynamic that feels so right to me and so satisfying. One character doesn't know how to be wanted so they make themselves needed instead. The other character is so tired of being selfless or giving up things they want or not being allowed to have something of their own that when they get attached to the character that commodifies themselves, they decide with their whole heart that THIS is what they want. This person. This will be their first thing they want to keep and they want it selfishly.
And maybe it isn't picture-perfect healthy but it's good for them. The struggle isn't admitting they're in love with each other, the struggle is believing someone sees you for what you are not what you pretend to be to make yourself useful, and they want you so selfishly they will keep you even when you're not breaking yourself to be useful. And in getting what you want for the first time in your entire life and it being better than you ever dreamed.
So I kind of get it when people don't like Stolas. He is a bit selfish. But Blitzo needs him to be selfish, because Stolas’s "selfish" doesn't necessarily mean Blitzo giving anything up except his facade.
When the selfish character wants to keep the other character, not in a "you have to change your life to accommodate me" kind of way but in a "I love your life the way it is don't change I just want to be there with you" sort of way.

Isabella Swan wants you to know that she is the cautious and responsible one in comparison to Renée who is so scatterbrained she forgot her own paralyzing fear of heights until she was strapped to a skydiving instructor about to jump out of a plane.

please can you put the reviews under a cut? I eg find them so upsetting. I don’t want to see all those white middle age men who clearly have no idea about queerness, closet, this story or Harry, getting off on writing ignorant & pre biased views for clicks. The opinion of those who have truly seen it are raging & so positive. And the ones who are negative are mostly unnecessary harsh and personal. Barely any middle ground here. Let’s put a focus on the good ones and spread those maybe?
Hi dear,
I don't generally put things under a cut because they can be lost if something happens to my blog. You can filter out the tag "long post" if you'd like, as I'm using that for these bc they are, well, long.
Of those 2 I recently posted, although they are negative, they're not outright hating on Harry like the reviews from last night did. They're critiquing the film. Ofc there is a layer of bias bc critics are pompous and don't like musicians going to acting. But even in one of the "bad reviews" the critic actually said Harry is really good in the film and has a bright future in acting.
So don't just cast a blank "I don't wanna see it bc it's negative" statement over everything. There's still value in reading varied opinions so you get a real and more representative idea of the response and critique. As opposed to only reading positive reviews and having an incorrect understanding of the critics reception the movie got.
I like knowing the full picture of things within context, not limiting my knowledge to things I like.

#I may have issues with sites that post stuff like that without context #because it can be misleading #and cause confusion/misinformation/panic #it's why I include links #so people can check the source for themselves
Posting stuff without sourcing is succchhhh a pet peeve of mine so I am greatly appreciative that you do this. On my tumblr I used to post a lot of new content for an actor featured on my blog but I never posted unless I knew the source of the content. Partly for my own records, partly so people can see for themselves the content with context, partly so I can verify and/or make sure pics aren't leaked from private sources, etc., among other reasons. I think a lot of people online are so focused on being "first" or want to feel like they have "exclusive" content that they don't bother to even verify let alone link sources. So seriously, thank you for linking sources when you post!!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way! It drives me nuts when a new picture is posted on Twitter and I can't find where the poster sourced it from, or when news is leaked without any credible source behind the info.
I find this is especially critical when discussing information that comes from entertainment sites. Click-bait sites rarely post sources, and often, the author has a biased agenda so it's important to know where the information is coming from.
And while I source things for my own sanity, I'm glad there are others like you who appreciate it, so you are welcome!
(Caveat: I'm not perfect. I do know that I sometimes miss a source, and I don't always source panels or other discussion items that have been previously mentioned, so if I'm missing a source that you want to access, just ask!)

just a psa you can use the term fat as a descriptive word. it’s not a bad or derogatory term and using it in a descriptive context helps to normalize it’s proper use.

A few days ago, I was walking my dog Lucy to her business spot and I had a sudden desire to sing a small song under my breath pretty low.
So I started singing to a song from the band Mariana's Trench, the song was Cross my Heart.
Either way, I was singing pretty low but still audible and I guess one of the neighbors heard me so he popped his head to my direction and saw me.
I was instantly embarrassed and fell silent.
Thing is, I like other bands too and something I thought was what if I sang a song from the band Creature Feature?
Creature Feature is a band that has music related to spooky stuff like burials, murders, different ways to die, and so on.
I mean if I would have sang "The Worms Crawl in", "The Art of Poisoning", or A Gorey Demise"?
The dude would've thought I was some sort of murderer, or something similar.
