Hank Pym and Hank McCoy get mixed up more often than you would think in-universe.

Hi, I only know star wars through the fandom, wiki, and I saw clone wars when I'm was a kid. Do the Jedi have mental health care in canon? If they do would they be considered legit professionals or would they be quacks by in universe and our standards?
In Legends and Disney Wars comics material, there are occasionally mentions of Jedi mind healers, psychiatrists, and psychologists, but they never actually get mentioned or offered to anyone involved in the Jedi Order, Imperial army, clone army, or Sith in canon, so I don’t really hold Anakin, Luke, Yoda, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, or any of the other characters accountable in canon for not mentioning or seeking out therapy and prescription treatments to deal with all their personal issues and trauma, or mitigate serious symptoms of behavioral and mood disorders because, within the narratives of their stories, therapy really doesn’t seem to exist at all.
Even if you assume it really does exist, though, prescription meds and therapy don’t always work. Yes, you also have to have some personal willpower to make an effort to change, but if the therapist and/or psychiatrist sucks at their job, then it’s on either them and/or those who trained them, too.
You also have to consider that the universe of Star Wars is so vastly fucked up in its legal system and morality both the Republic and the Empire, particularly in the prequels. There doesn’t seem to be any social services that protects the safety of minors in the prequels.
The Republic’s military is allowed to take on force sensitive children from their families from infancy under incredibly dubious and ill-informed consent to start training them as soldiers with lethal weapons and send them on dangerous missions by the ages of four in the prequels.
These recruits are cut off from their birth families after being taken in by the Jedi, and, while they can technically leave anytime, the Council and their masters don’t make it this viable option that their recruits would ever be able to feel reasonably well-rounded, safe, and supported in doing either, so they’re not really given any sort of true freedom in the matter.
The members of the Republic government help out the slavers and/or help perpetuate slavery on the outer rims for their “greater good” because it’s safer and looks better than siding with those under them. The Jedi Council run their system like a cult that strips its members of their personal freedoms and well-being for their “greater good.” They mutually agree to take on a slave army from Palpatine and agree to enable each other’s systematic abuse of power in return for a sense of security from each other.
A 14 year old girl is allowed to rule her home planet and make serious political decisions in The Phantom Menace.
The bottom line is that, even if you want to believe that psychotherapy does really exist in Star Wars, it doesn’t matter because it never is seriously taken into consideration in the stories for any of the characters as viable options for them within this universe, anyway. Even if it were, it wouldn’t be accurate, fair, or objective in practice in the old Republic or the Empire at all, anyway.

i do think psychosis & mental disability is a lot less different to physical disability than people seem to kind of kneejerk believe. some disabled people will not survive without people helping them in tedious and terrible and gross ways but in a kind society we would be able to give people the kind of support they need to be well and happy while also making it easier to have those needs taken care of and treating the people who fulfill those needs better. i think no matter what, even in a much better world, people will still have psychosis and dementia and be difficult to be around sometimes or all the time because they dont have a clear mind and sometimes that makes you say abrasive or crazy shit you wouldnt normally believe, or be explosively angry when you don't need to be, and that deserves compassion and help and understanding especially when/if it passes, but the people putting up with it until then also deserve happiness. i think people see advocacy for one of these things to be erasure of the other, and i understand why, especially in the greater public discourse, you would be so wary of that sides taking, but i dont think it needs to be true

common myths about migraines (AKA if you get headaches regularly, please seek treatment for migraines)
"i don't have migraines because while i get them several times a week, it's only when i am hungry or dehydrated."
those are probably migraines. thirst, hunger, sleep disturbances, or any disruption to routine are common migraine triggers.
"my headaches are specifically barometric related, i get them when the weather/altitude changes."
those are probably migraines. barometric pressure is a common migraine trigger.
"i get headaches all the time but ibuprofen gets rid of them so they can't be migraines."
that's not true. ibuprofen works great at relieving migraine pain for many people.
"my consistent headaches are tension headaches. i feel them originate in my neck/shoulders."
those are probably migraines. muscle tension is a common migraine trigger.
if you are regularly getting headaches (once a week or more), you are likely getting migraines. in fact, a good rule of thumb if you're consistently getting headaches is to treat them as migraines until you can rule out migraines. that's how common "chronic headache = migraine" actually is.
migraines are a neurological disorder wherein pain is one symptom. pain is often the MAIN symptom, and the most noticeable symptom, which can make diagnosis tricky. other symptoms of migraine include:
fatigue
nausea/vomiting
digestive issues
visual disturbances (auras)
sensitivity to light and/or sound
mood changes
brain fog/cognitive changes
ringing in the ears
dizziness/vertigo
numbness/weakness on one side of the body
this list is NOT complete, but is a starting point. i really like the comparison to a hangover. if you generally feel hungover when you get a headache (without having consumed alcohol), that's a classic migraine presentation.
so many people suffer from migraine and don't even know it, so they aren't able to advocate for themselves to get treatment. there are great new migraine treatments on the market! if you're able, please seek treatment for your migraines. a better quality of life is possible.

What Are the Most Common Behavioral Disorders in Children?
The most common behavioral disorders in children are:
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects children's ability to pay attention, control their impulses, and be still. Symptoms of ADHD can include fidgeting, talking excessively, difficulty staying on task, and being easily distracted.
ADHD is often treated with meditation, therapy, or both. Medication can help to improve attention and focus, while therapy can help children learn how to manage their symptoms and develop coping skills.
Check out Guided Bedtime Meditations for Children with ADHD and Anxiety
Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD).
ODD is a behavioral disorder characterized by a persistent pattern of uncooperative, defiant, and hostile behavior towards authority figures. Children with ODD may often argue with adults, refuse to follow the rules, and deliberately annoy others.
ODD is often treated with behavioral therapy. This type of therapy helps children learn how to control their behavior and develop better coping skills.
Conduct disorder (CD).
CD is a more serious behavioral disorder than ODD. Children with CD often engage in aggressive, destructive, or criminal behavior. They may start fights, steal, vandalize property, or hurt others.
The CD is often treated with medication, therapy, and behavior modification. Medication can help to reduce aggression and impulsive behavior, while therapy can help children learn how to manage their emotions and develop better social skills.
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
ASD is a developmental disorder that affects a child's communication and social skills. Children with ASD may have difficulty understanding and responding to social cues and may have restricted interests and repetitive behaviors.
ASD is often treated with early intervention services, education, and therapy. Early intervention services can help children develop their communication and social skills. In contrast, education and therapy can help them learn how to cope with their challenges and live a fulfilling life.
These are just some of the most common behavioral disorders in children. Many other behavioral disorders exist, and each child will experience symptoms differently. If you are concerned that your child may have a behavioral disorder, it is essential to talk to your doctor. They can help you assess your child's symptoms and make a diagnosis.
Early diagnosis and treatment can help to improve your child's quality of life. For better and traditional treatments introducing a bedtime meditation like Cool Koala can be a game changer.

Mithrun and brain damage
I'm not sure if anyone is interested in this, but I wanted to make a post talking about why I think that Mithrun has brain damage from a traumatic brain injury instead of him being a representation of other neurological disorders or mental illness. I'm not that involved in the dunmesh fandom so I don't know how common this headcanon is, though I've seen a few people mention it here and there.
This is just my own opinion so if you disagree then that's fine. Some of this is just speculation and I can't say what Kui's intentions were. This post isn't meant to be that serious. I just wanted to talk about it and hopefully inform about how brain damage can affect some people in a way that I hope is interesting and relevant.
This will be kind of long because I like to talk so it will be under the cut. Apologies for the length and how much I ramble. Feel free to give input especially if I got anything wrong or if this is too confusing.
Okay let's go
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is incredibly complex. The long-term effects of a TBI include a wide array of symptoms. Each injury is different, and some people can completely recover rather quickly while others can become permanently disabled, even for seemingly "minor" injuries. What I'll cover here isn't a definitive representation of the experiences of all those who have long-term effects from TBI, nor do I speak for everyone with brain damage.
Here are some long term symptoms relevant to this post:
Alexithymia (inability to process and name emotions)
Inability to process and name physical perceptions
Mood swings and emotional regulation difficulties
Communication difficulties
Social impairment
Apathy about caring for oneself
Lack of motivation
Alexithymia and inability to process physical perceptions
This one is rather obvious. While Mithrun is shown to feel emotions and have physical sensations (for instance, describing his location when he gets lost in the dungeon as "a cold place"), he is also apathetic to how this affects him. This means that his physical and emotional perceptions are reduced in some way. He says that becoming lord of the dungeon will leave someone "empty", showing he is aware of his dulled emotional state.
A good example of this is can be seen here in a bonus comic where he doesn't give much of a reaction to burning his mouth on hot food.
(I love these two a lot, by the way. Pattadol is really under appreciated.)
He is also not able to recognize bodily signals, such as hunger or when he is tired. Despite collapsing from exhaustion and not eating for long periods of time, he still insists he is not tired or hungry.
Mood swings
Mood swings in combination with alexithymia can be an especially disorientating experience. Those who struggle to perceive their own emotions can still feel them even if they don't know how to recognize it.
Individuals with brain injuries often experience drastic mood swings, particularly anger. To those around them, they can appear to go from 0 to 100 in an instant.
This is more speculation/headcanon on my part, as the strongest emotion Mithrun has for most of his appearances is anger. However one could interpret this as being unrelated as he is seeking revenge for a traumatic experience.
Communication difficulties and social impairment
Not only can naming personal experiences be incredibly difficult with a brain injury, but other areas of communication are often affected as well.
Mithrun is not able to set boundaries for himself even if someone is doing something he would not actually want them to do, which can leave him in a vulnerable position.
People with brain injuries can sometimes have a paradoxical experience when it comes to communicating with others. They can go from being very quiet to speaking at length about one topic, seemingly without regard for the importance of each bit of information. (I see it like Newton's first law of motion. It is hard to start speaking and it can be just as hard to stop.)
I really like this aspect of Mithrun's characterization. Usually, he is very quiet because he has no reason to speak. However, once he starts talking he is shown to be overly specific and goes on for long periods of time. Kabru has to spend multiple days figuring out his story.
In a side comic, Kabru tells Mithrun he should condense some of the personal details that Kabru finds irrelevant to the topic of the dungeon.
Mithrun shares many details about himself because his desire not to do so is gone. This mirrors the experience of many people who have brain damage to overshare and not understand how their words will come across to others. Sometimes they say or do things that are insensitive or inappropriate for the situation.
Caring for oneself and motivation
In the dungeon, Mithrun becomes reliant on others for self care. He also seems especially incapable of motivating himself to take care of his body when he is particularly focused on his goals.
In these panels, thus far he had been fairly receptive of Kabru trying to take care of him. However, he could sense that the demon was close and was too focused on that to care to eat.
Refusal of care and treatment is often an effect of traumatic brain injury. This can be for seemingly no reason, even if the person knows that this will help them. Sometimes people will lie about receiving treatment or doing things to take care of themselves, either so they can avoid it or avoid having someone take care of them.
He knows that eating regularly and not pushing himself too much will help him - he's been told multiple times on-screen - but he still has to be continuously told by others to give him that motivation to take care of himself. He's very apathetic to his physical state, even if it seems his only desire is for revenge and he should be doing anything he can to achieve that.
Other things of note
I wasn't sure where to put this, but while Mithrun's sense of direction is speculated by Kabru to be left over from his time as lord of an ever-changing, confusing dungeon, having poor sense of direction in the way he does could also be indicative of brain injury as well.
While the dungeon is confusing and illogical, he is known to have a poor sense of direction and to get frequently lost by those around him, even trying to exit an entrance he just came through. He is shown to be very intelligent, but memory is greatly impacted by brain injuries which affects a person's sense of direction and location.
Something that really stands out to me about Mithrun is how much the things that help him are particularly helpful to those with brain damage. He is physically capable of performing tasks, but he needs an outside source to remind him and get him started. He relies entirely on routine, and when that regularity is taken away he shows extreme difficulty taking care of himself.
Sometimes, the care that some people need is simply someone else to encourage them or to tell them when to do things. The care that he needs is pretty consistent with a person with a brain injury who does not need a full time caretaker and would prefer to have some independence.
Also, healing magic is specified to not work with brain injury unless the person is killed and revived. Mithrun had not been revived after his injuries, so it is entirely possible for him to have sustained a TBI. I don't think this matters that much because one is still allowed to have headcanons even if there is a magical explanation or isn't really possible in canon, but I thought it was an interesting detail.
In conclusion
Because of all this I don't believe that his lack of self care is due solely to mental illness. While mental illnesses like depression or PTSD can cause a decline in self care, the reasons why the affected individual is avoidant of these tasks differs. These disorders can also cause cognitive difficulties and emotional regulation issues, but not to the same extent or in the same way that brain damage would. I think that he does have both depression and PTSD (both are common after a TBI) but those are not his only disabilities.
And on a personal note, I just think that having a character with brain damage is really cool. Most of the time I've seen it the characters are not given very much respect and they are treated as comic relief and a joke. Regardless of whether you agree with this post or not, it is still nice to see a character with a disability like this.
Thank you if you read all of this. I hope it was easy to understand and I did not ramble too much. I don't have anything else to say but I've been wanting to write this out for a while.
Okay bye

hello miss!
i was introduced to you by your photoshoot post for your interview about accessibility and being creative! im a high school student and the stage manager for our play this year but also need some accommodations for my eyes. Do you have any advice on how to include general accessibility stuff in our play?
thank you for your time!
Thanks for reaching out and asking!
One major thing I would recommend is being careful about the type of lighting effects you're using. It's become more and more common for lots of places, including high schools, to use strobe lighting or rapidly flickering lights to create a certain mood, and while I understand it can be a valuable and cheap tool to help create a certain ambiance, it's very unsafe for a lot of people with seizure disorders and other neurological disorders.
I was at a wedding last year that randomly had strobe lighting that started the moment after the first dance, and it gave me such a bad migraine I almost vomited in the room and was left ill for several days afterward.
The same thing happened a few years ago when I went to see a Shakespeare play (Henry 2) at a local amateur group, and they used strobe lighting for battle sequences. I'm sure it was very effective at conveying a sense of fast-paced horror, but I couldn't enjoy it because it made me almost faint.
Had the strobe lighting been advertized, I wouldn't have attended. So even if your group does use it, make sure you warn people it'll be used!

Astrology observations pt 31
DISCLAIMER- Placements will not play out the same way for everyone and having challenging placements + aspects does not mean that you are a bad person or that you will have a bad life. Take what resonates and leave what doesn’t. My observations and readings are not a substitute for professional medical help. Do not self-diagnose, go see a doctor please and thank you
-Virgo moons tend to have upset tummies/IBS when stressed out
-people with Uranus in the 6th house tend to like weird food combinations and/or dislike food combos that are generally well liked. They are picky eaters
-people with the 6th house cusp in Gemini (or heavy Gemini placements in general) get hit particularly hard by the common cold and may have breathing issues like asthma and bronchitis
-Pisces placements are prone to foot pain so comfortable footwear is important for these natives. Some of them can barely tolerate high heels
-people with the 5th or 6th house cusp in cancer may be prone to emotional eating
-moon-Neptune aspects can indicate depression and other mood disorders. If mercury is also aspected anxiety can be an issue
-there could be a correlation between mercury-Uranus aspects and conditions like ADHD and the autism spectrum in a general sense
-people with the 6th house cusp in scorpio especially need to watch out for STIs and possible reproductive issues, especially if mars is involved
-Capricorn placements tend to have bad knees…
-people with 6th house cusp in leo (or heavy leo placements) with Saturn in that house tend to have blood pressure issues, usually hypertension

WebMD Page for Aziraphale
As promised to you all, inspired by that video of Aziraphale as an antidepressant. The WebMD drug format, from your clearly deranged mascot, Asmi. This took way too much effort. For legal purposes, even though this blog is a lawless hellscape, this is a spoof. If you did like it, reblog it, maggoty loves of mine, because likes don't help visibility on tumblr, and I want everyone to be traumatised with my own specific brand of unhinged. No pressure though, be rebels muaha. That being said:
MENU > DRUGS & MEDICATIONS > AZIRAPHALE
COMMON BRAND(S): Guardian of the East Gate, Angel
GENERIC NAME(S): Aziraphale
USES
This medication is used to treat mood-related disorders ranging from depression to chronic loneliness and anxiety. It has also been proven effective in treatment of Compulsive Demonic Behavioural Disorder (CDBD) and Post Fall Stress Disorder (PFSD). The medication results in an overall improvement in mood (see Side Effects), morals, and lifestyle choices. This medication is sometimes described as a 'miracle-worker'. It is advisable to ensure that the correct dosage is taken at regular intervals. The doctor/God/Forces That Be may prescribe a lower dose at the start, gradually increasing frequency and amount over the course of millennia.
SIDE EFFECTS
Documented side-effects include pining behaviour, severe withdrawal symptoms in case of suddenly stopping the medication, heart palpitations, stuttering or stammering, mood swings including irrational lashing out or defensive behaviour when faced with highly emotional situations, break-ups, misunderstands, obliviousness, amongst others. Despite the studies being limited to a single subject (see Crowley et. al. updated 2023) these effects are typically harmless in the long term.
Life-altering effects may also be noted, including irretrievably falling in love, marriage, a positive character arc, tendencies to put oneself at risk to ensure continuation of medication, lifelong friendship, fate-defying romance and severe allergy to the idea of discontinuation of medication.
WARNINGS
Casual or reckless consumption can be too fast for the medication, which will lessen its effects, leading to withdrawal symptoms. Withdrawal symptoms range from repeated indulging in CDBD and PFSD induced behaviours to alcoholism, depressive episodes, recklessness, listlessness, and prolonged car rides with no purpose. While the medication should not be consumed too fast, regularity is also advised. This is a long-term medication and not a short-term fix. Rare, short-term exposures will only worsen the side effects, withdrawal symptoms and may even reverse the drug effects.
PRECAUTIONS
Ensure immortality so that the medication may be able to work its effect through the full course. Pre-existing trauma and heart conditions may require regular consultations with a therapist.
INTERACTIONS
Drug interactions may change how the medication works or increase severity of side effects. This document does not include a comprehensive list of all drug interactions, please do adequate research and check instructions on the medication before proceeding with additional drugs. Aziraphale is known to have highly negative interactions with the toxin hellfire as well as the drugs Gabriel (only when sold as Supreme Archangel), Satan and Metatron (known toxin). Negative interference may occur due to most drugs from the class Heaven and Hell. Vague interference may occur with the drug class Homo sapiens.
OVERDOSE
While less dangerous than withdrawal symptoms, overdose may lead to lack of personal space, miscommunication, and decrease in mood stability. Increased irritability is also common. Use with caution.

REVIEWS (1)
Effectiveness: 5 stars
Ease of use: 4 stars
Satisfaction: 100000000000000000000e stars
It must be noted that in the country where I live (India), advertisements for pharmaceutical drugs are legally prohibited on television and other media. Which is why I was very bewildered at the initial video. But WebMD is a universal phenomenon so this shall by my contribution to the fandom. Thank you @neil-gaiman, Good Omens has given me a lot of opportunities to exercise my brain in all the weirdest ways.
