What most people don't get about clones, at least in the popular conception of them, is that they DON'T carry any mental memories from their "parent" (this is genetically impossible), and also that there is no known method (and probably will never be one) to have a perfect 1:1 same-age clone of yourself. Biological clones start out as babies and grow up like any other being (as least as animals are concerned) and there are no way to 'accelerate growth' without incredibly deletereous consequences with current technology and I'm very very willing to bet it would be the same with any future technology.
In essence, a clone is another individual who just happens to have the exact same genome of their parent. Like a twin but born with delay. Clones do carry any epigenetic changes their parent genome might have had, like Dolly the Sheep, so that's where the pereception that clones are born "older" came from, but there is also a good chance this is because of experimental cloning methods that damage the genome, it's a science in progress.
And in any case, besides the unusual source of the DNA, there would be no reason why a clone would be any different from any other individual. You don't call "test-tube babies" souless beings, do you? A human clone would be implanted in a surruogate mother and be born and grow and be like any other human being shaped by their experiences rather than any genes their donor or parent might have left them.
This means that if I went all mad scientist and decided to clone myself, I wouldn't have a 1:1 copy of myself, I would have a baby with my genetic code, something between my son and my little brother. And if I found out I was a clone of someone, it literally wouldn't matter to me at all. I would just have another absent father. Who cares.
Anyways, clones aren't something mystifying to me, the only weirdoes are those who treat the whole process as monstrous.

hello yes I love the bad batch because of its plot and characters and motifs about forgiveness and loss, but ALSO because it often reads like a self-insert fanfic that did a much better job with world building and character depth than you could’ve possibly hoped for. And makes you panic when the author updates it at 1am and you haven’t read the new chapter yet but your mutuals are reportedly sobbing.
in other news, who’s nervous excited for today?

it takes a special type of poison to kill a Jedi
slow-acting, with a cumulative effect over multiple doses such that the warning from the Force about any single dose is easily missed
no one was quite sure what was causing a series of nat-born officers to sicken and die without any of the traditional signs of contagion
and then it started to effect some of the Jedi too, and no one was sure what was happening
and then the Chancellor died, and the war quickly fell apart, leaving the Jedi and Judicial investigators with much more pressingt problems to address
years later it came to light that a disillusioned clone sergeant by the name of Slick had made a deal with Asajj Ventress to buy the recipe of an old Sith poison, and had been selling the product to clones serving under ill-suited or prejudiced officers, which had eventually included one Commander Fox of the Coruscant Guard who had made his case to the sergeant personally

For th longest time I wondered where the Curley hair clones headcannon came from… until I realized that it’s not even headcannon because Jango fett had Curley hair and so did the live action clones and I’m an idiot that needs to rewatch the movies instead of the animated shows for the millionth time

A fair warning that no one told me before watching TCW is that it’s a dangerous show if you get easily attached to characters. Like,, some of the clones have MAYBE 3 episodes of screentime and I still cry when they die. Also, it makes the prequels, which are already tragic, sooo much worse because instead of being like “awww dead jedi :(“ you’re like “oh no, dead jedi i KNOW”
And then being in the clone wars fandom is WORSE because you’re like “these clones with entirely fleshed out personalities are dying” and “oh no, aayla was shot down by bly, her husband” and “ahhh, plo koon was murdered by his own kids”
But also like, it’s also a great show if you get easily attached to characters because there are SO many and they’re all great

I don’t like this stupid “Omega is gonna have to leave you behind” talk. Shush up, Ventress! Omega is never allowed to leave her dad (Hunter)!
