@summer-fruits-and-cream Making a new post out of respect for your not wanting to see the post on your dash. But if you’d seen my response, you would know why I’m responding to you this way:
Being upset that Disney “Isn’t Christian Anymore” isn’t different from “Doing an Objective Analysis” because Disney was Christian, and this movie was marketed, billed, and promised to audiences as an homage to Disney.
I could have just said, “I’m upset that it’s not good.” And it would’ve been synonymous with saying “I’m upset that it’s not Christian.” Because one of the things that’s supposed to be a hallmark of Christian work is that it is done with excellence. (Colossians 3:23-24.)
I could have just said, “I’m upset that it’s not Disney,” and because of what I snd evidence for in the posts you’re sick of seeing, it would have been synonymous with saying “I’m upset that it’s not Christian.”
And no objectivity would’ve been lost.

the internet has this weird plague of thinking that your own personal ideas and opinions need to apply to everyone else. this is true in fandom, but also you can find examples on twitter, facebook, instagram, everywhere basically. this idea of “you don’t think like me so you must be wrong” instead of “we both think differently and that doesn’t make one of us right and one of us wrong”. an example of this would be redpilled mfs on the internet who think that their ideas about women need to apply to all women in real life in order for those women to be valuable. or in fandom when someone thinks their ideas about shipping certain characters needs to apply to everyone else in order for their shipping opinions to be valid. or people defending a celebrity’s misbehavior because they can’t handle critiques of their fav’s character. it makes me think of christianity and why i left the church. christians believe that their religion is the REAL truth and nothing else can be correct under their faith. you can’t force your own moral code on anyone else. and im not saying that some ships aren’t problematic or christianity is inherently bad. im not saying all celebrities are bad people. im saying that this mindset of holding others to your own standards will only continue endless, mindless discourse on the internet that nobody even asked for. this way of thinking is not only pointless, but dangerous. stop thinking about what everyone else should do, and start thinking about what YOU should do.

please stop making religious ai art
i hope i'm not being offensive but I am Catholic and i am an artist and this is how I feel. It makes me sad to see Christian blogs share ai (artificial intelligence) art because I think this is very blasphemous. I sadly had to unfollow some accounts because of this. the art has visual errors and can be considered heretical.
ai art is fake, theft, and is stealing jobs. so please, stop making ai art and start drawing or painting, with our hands God gave us, our Lord with love and genuity. a machine cannot worship. a human can.

okay people talk about “religious trauma”, but only recently did I find out that, as a child, one of my best friends used to wake up before anyone else in the house and panic because she was so convinced that everyone she loved had been raptured.
that she still sometimes feels irrationally afraid, almost thirty years later, and has to remind herself that surely a mass disappearance would make the news.
that this isn’t remotely uncommon.
that my boyfriend, who was raised in a very different denomination, used to have the same fears, as well as at least one of my coworkers.
people talk about religious trauma in a lot of ways, and I always associated it with purity culture, bigotry, and oppression. but these raw, granular little moments, where a 6 year-old version of my friend is gripped with terror because the house is too quiet, everyone she loves must have been taken away, and she must have been the only one that was Unworthy...it’s just so much more fucked up than I ever realized.

It really bugs me when Protestants who have never taken more than a cursory glance at Orthodoxy/Catholicism accuse me of blasphemy over praying to the Saints for a couple reasons:
1. Prayer and worship are two different things with different meanings
2. We worship God, and God alone.
We do not pray to the saints to worship them, or to honor them as gods. When we “pray” to them, we are asking them more to join us in our own prayer to God. The Saints may be “dead” in The physical sense, but they are, in fact more alive than you or I have ever been. And being alive, they are continually active in the church.

sometimes i think about the backlash i got from nonbinary transfem james cuz im not transmisogyny effected therefore it was transmisogynistic of me to draw her like that because she's a "canon male character" which like. okay first of all said anon demanded i out myself for the sake of deciding if its morally okay for me to do so (i did tell them im afab with a bit of hesitation, hoping nobody would see me differently). and they got all mad about that and said only transfems can do that, completely blinded by their need to feel morally superior to realize that my james headcanons are pretty... personal. like yeah i headcanon them to be amab so we obviously dont share all our experiences, i still use their character as a way to project MY feelings and experiences with being nonbinary. which ive gone into in a comic before, and have talked about a handful of times- about how james is important to me because they're how i express my feelings of not being a man or a woman and my relationship with gender as a whole.
so im curious as to why this isnt just something that happened to me but to others all the time. why do strangers online feel the need to tell you what you can and cant do and feel so entitled to know your identity and check on you (a stranger) to make sure you arent being problematic for shit they dont even understand the half of because they only see things at surface level and decide if it's right or wrong?

so many christian conservatives that hate/criticize science and don't believe in it because "it's not always right/it always changes/they don't know for sure/there's no solid proof/etc" sure do love to believe in their magical sky daddy they never saw with their own eyes but swear is real, just because mommy and daddy and the old bald man at church had told them this since they were babies.
just like much of the scientific theories they're talking about, this god also has no actual solid proof. no one knows for absolute sure that this magical being exists, or anything in the bible actually happened. this god, his son, and every other religious figure could be nothing more than a character in an ancient fictional fantasy novel the ancient people wrote for fun because they had nothing better to do. some say there's proof the "person" existed. but there's no proof they performed magic or had magical things happen to them. maybe the readers got so engrossed and obsessed that it took on this religious culture that persisted for centuries. (imagine if the twilight series took on this form and a religion about worshiping vampires emerged and people a few centuries from now though bella and edward are their original, very real existing, saviors and everyone worships them hoping to become a vampire. I remember seeing articles that thar series started getting religious cults around it. don't know if it was true of just male journalists hating that teenage girls enjoyed something —let's be honest, it was probably that.)
but if you say those things to conservatives, that there's no proof, that it could be nothing more than an ancient fantasy novel, they get so upset and defensive. they won't admit it. they come up with excuses. they turn around and point fingers instead. at least the science they hate for "having no proof" or being proven wrong always admits when it's wrong and is always trying to disprove *itself* in order to find the truth. it's based on theory and everyone should have learned about that in school, so i won't explain it. science, in general, is the study of trying to prove and disprove theories and gain evidence needed to reach a truth. it's ongoing. even these truths are usually accepted as things that can still expand and get rewritten as we learn more.
yet most christian conservatives are often over there saying those bad things about science, which actually realistically applies better to their sky daddy and his son's story. even the meanings of their bible change depending on the language/translation and who's interpreting it, with no solid proof one way or another. their religion is very stagnant. they have forbidden questioning it. they know it won't hold if you do.
they can't believe in science because there is never any concrete evidence, and scientists never know for sure....... yet at the same time, though they won't admit it, they truly don't even know if their magical god exists up in the clouds for sure. all they do is "believe" but "belief" is not proof, no matter how much they try telling you it is. but,,,,it only is if it's directed at their god. if it's belief in anything science? "no, you're brainwashed! it's all fake!"
they preach to you from a kid that you need to blindly believe and if you question it or don't believe hard enough, you get sent to hell to suffer. you're not allowed to think or choose for yourself! but they try really hard to make it look and feel like you're "choosing" it. it sounds very brainwashy to me. it FELT very brainwashy as a kid experiencing this, being foeced to go to church 2-3 times a week and a catholic school for 11 years. it's truly the opposite of what most conservatives preach and rant about. they're all about ~individualism and not being a sheep and free speech and freedom of choice~ and whatever else they yell about that is generally the opposite of how they actually live, lead, and raise their young.
science doesn't do that to you. science is more forgiving. if you dont believe, go prove it wrong! yet they claim scientists are trying to "brainwash" everyone; if you listen to and believe science, you are being "brainwashed." but *they* aren't. no. they're definitely not brainwashed by their big benevolent sky daddy and his magical story book, who threatens to strike them down into the pits of hell to suffer if they get even the smallest inkling of questioning or doubt in their tiny brains.
hypocrites they are!

It may be an unpopular opinion but you don’t owe your family your future. Meaning: don’t spend your life trying to please your parents. I don’t think you “owe” them anything. They brought you into this world or their world so they took it on themselves to say I will love, care and support this human being no matter what. (Obviously that’s just my opinion of what it means and not what everybody believes) Unless you personally feel like you just love your family so much and want to express it. (I do love my family greatly so yay to those that do!) But you are allowed to disagree with your family. You are allowed to be the only one with that opinion in the room and it doesn’t make your opinion less than nor theirs less than because you disagree. It just is your opinion. It’s allowed and justified.
The point of the post was just to rant a little bit about how you shouldn’t be scared of your family. I understand that there are a lot of different scenarios out there but I’m talking a family that tells you they love you and care for you should not also bring you anxiety and fear. I’m talking the anxiety where you don’t enjoy being around them, are always watching what you say and do when anything to do with them, and when you can’t be yourself around them. To me that’s not what family is about or for. To keep in mind what I’m considering family are the immediately members so not necessarily cousins, aunts, and uncles.
There is so much more to say on the topic but I can’t think of anything else to add to my little rant. But I will say if you have any extra opinions or want to chat about it then comment or leave me a message! I hope all of you have a wonderful day! Thank you for reading my little rant and God bless

A Societal Schism Where Nobody Wins
I’m sitting here seething, honestly. Feelings have nothing to do with where my head is at, though. Factual, logical sense is shining through and I’m trying to track something with that sense. I’m trying to track where society went wrong, at our core, what divides us. We’ve always had dissenters, outliers, nerds, outcasts, others, in our societies, but they’ve never been persecuted with subtlety as hard as they are right now.
The political parties that would ascribe the values of Conservative and Liberal to themselves need a second to breathe, I think. I am so tired of propaganda. I am so tired of false headlines, liars, and degenerates on both sides, and I am so, so tired of politics, wholesale.
I think we need to become better at talking about what divides us so that we can learn to be closer together as real, honest people, hiding nothing from one another and making informed, honest decisions about who we let into our circles. Everything used to be warmer.
I feel like I’m speaking a different language half of the time when talking to the most passionately-misinformed people I’ve ever met. The real truth that nobody’s seeing happens to be the bigger picture that the Roe V. Wade case being overturned realistically was just meant to keep the lower classes fighting with each other, yet again, while the rich run off with all of the fucking money.
If they can’t make us fight over race, they’ll make us fight over sexuality.
If they can’t make us fight over sexuality, they’ll make us fight over gender.
If they can’t make us fight over gender, they’ll hit the killswitch and make us fight over reproduction.
The fact that people can’t see this for the obvious, desperate retirement-stunt for the 1% that this actually is, just rots me to the core. Open your eyes. Rights are being lost. The fundamentalism of the Constitution expresses unalienable rights to born Americans, not unborn Americans. This is the rich attempting to stack the deck and masking it as “trying to return to American values.” Western civilization was born on the backs of slavery and ironically-enough, aborted by backwards-thinking Conservatives who believe the next step is for us to return to the Christian Family Unit of Husband, Wife, Two Kids, give or take a Dog, in a sunny, two-story house in a suburban environment marketed exclusively to white people.
These suburbanites are cowards, who believe that life is better without experience, without nuance and being entirely simple. I seek something more. I seek to leave behind something profound when I die. I seek to change peoples’ minds and to teach the world to love, again.
To the Schism’s credit, it isn’t the reason that people stopped loving one another. Liberals used to be welcome in Conservative barbecues. No longer, from all I’ve seen. The “Pick a Side!”-edness of society is getting more apparent, and has been getting closer and closer into my telescope with which I view it, with nothing but imperfection, insecurity, rage, and fire trailing it.
Don’t let someone’s political party stop you from seeing a human being in front of you. Statistics have ruined us, because they were mistakenly created to assign value to humans as a black-and-white concept. You cannot calculate what makes someone human with a computer, for the same reason that we will never be able to create an original AI that acts identical to a human.
For as long as we attempt this shoehorning of humanity into a marketable box for anything other than pitching a TV show, we’re doing the universe a disservice for the wonderful gift that humanity is.
Open your eyes, and relax your shoulders, take a breath, love one another.

So I literally just came across a dumb homophobic (actually anti gay men) post, so... a rant
So I ran across a post about the Original Holmes ACD canon - not BBC Sherlock. I was not even looking up Sherlock related stuff.
This is mainly a BBC Sherlock blog, so felt the need to make clear. Not about BBC Sherlock this time.
I have not read the ACD Canon. It is very hard for me to pay attention for more than 5 minutes. (It's not a TikTok thing, I promise). Also if anyone is a queer Holmes historian/academic, please feel free to join in. Or just if someone has better knowledge than me. This is all second hand information but I stand behind the message nonetheless. You decide how credible this makes me.
Arthur Conan Doyle couldn't have written Sherlock Holmes as gay even if he wanted to.
He couldn't have written Sherlock Holmes and Dr John Watson as a same sex couple even if he wanted to.
He would have gotten arrested. He would have been imprisoned or sent to a labor camp.
It's what happened to Oscar Wilde, who he was friends with. Wilde's writing was used as evidence against him. Namely, The Picture of Dorian Grey.
No, claiming Sherlock Holmes is gay and was in a relationship with Dr Watson is not erasing asexuality. If the books were written today and the author said Holmes is ace, then yes, that could be seen as erasure.
Claiming Sherlock Holmes is gay is not disrespectful to ACD.
Claming Holmes and Watson were a couple who were hiding the truth from the readers due to a fear of persecution in not disrespectful to ACD. It has actual backing in Canon (them fleeing the same year as Wilde's trial). It's about playing the Game and treating Watson as an unreliable narrator.
If you believe claiming a character of a certain an author is gay is disrespectful to them, ask yourself why. Check yourself.
ACD can't tell us what his intentions were is because he is deceased. He's passed away. Unfortunately that means he will never be able to tell us the truth. Now, if you believe in The Death of The Author, authorial intent might not matter to you anyway.
Also, the people claiming this are in large part queer women, not gay men. So no, gay men aren't making it all about themselves. But nice try. ;)
Also I really wish asexual people would stop using the same rethoric as right wing Christian conservatives (why does everything have to be GAY! Gays are everywhere and I am sick of hearing about them!!!). As a bi ace woman, stop using as a shield, and if you are ace yourself, you're making us all look bad. Just stop.
