Things I want to see in the Sea Beast sequel
(The seabeastquel, if you will):
Little Jacob flashbacks! The little we know about the movie so far has indicated that it will be about Jacob learning parenthood with his newly adopted kid and- whoa, would ya look at that, his Own dad had to do the same thing! Parallels! Please and thank you!
More beasts. C'mon man, it's called The Sea Beast, we're gonna need more lil guys, creatures, if you will. You want them, I want them, give us more beasts
MS. MERINO. Listen, I know the Ms. Merino fanclub isn't nearly as big as the Jacob and Crow fanclubs, but I'm in love with her and I need more of her. She's the love of my life, pls Mr. Williams sir I need more
Idk if I'm just biased because I wrote a fic about it (The Honor of a Tired Old Man on ao3, check it out!), but for the love of all things holy I Need a Jacob and Crow resolution. You cannot expect me to believe Crow legitimately stopped caring about his kid after everything. He wanted to, sure, but no, he did not.
Gay people. Listen, this is already a very queer world, just make it official. I vote for Ms. Merino to be Sapphic and have a wife and for it to be me
More Crow backstory pls. Also, just more Crow. I love this crusty old man and I know for a fact that The Sea Beast tumblr would riot in the streets if their favorite gilf wasn't back for the sequel. More Crow please
More worldbuilding, simply because what we already have is so interesting and I desperately want to know what else they would do. How to other societies deal with the beasts? What do they think of the hunter society, especially now that it's collapsing.
Speaking of that collapse, PLEASE show me the revolution. I need details. This world is so fascinating I need to know about the revolution so bad
And finally, what jobs have old hunters started filling? I've made speculations about trade and fishing vessels, and I know that fishing and privateering is a popular headcanon. Maybe some of them go for actual piracy? I think some should go for actual piracy... as a treat.
Drop your thoughts in the tags and reblogs! I'm hyped for the seabeastquel, lmk what you think!

The Sea Beast Review
Tumblr media
So I finally got to watch The Sea Beast. It was one of my most anticipated 2022 films. I’m honestly surprised it fell off the radar so fast. Unfortunately, I’m not too disappointed by the lack of attention. The film left so much to be desired that I’m not sure if I would recommend it.
Story
It's the worst. As a whole, it’s just a more basic version of How to Train Your Dragon, but with no explanation as to what started the war between the creatures and the humans. It gets off on a slow start (definitely could’ve been cut 30 or 20 minutes). Third act was the worst part and just full of contrivances. Captain Crow and his mateys somehow find Maisie and Jacob and attacks Red. Maisie trips and almost dies for whatever reason. Captain Crow shamelessly tries to kill his own son for telling him the truth about the beasts. And the entire town just instantly believes Maisie after giving a speech about the innocence of the beast. Because Maisie is a God. She’s never wrong and always solves everything.
Personally, what I think they could’ve done to set it apart from HTTYD a bit is to make Maisie and Jacob both somewhat wrong. Maybe the creatures don’t actually harm people, but they do harm the environment, which caused the fight between them and humans. With Maisie being a Mary-Sue, it would’ve given her some actual flaws to work with as well as strengthening the dynamic between her and Jacob. Which brings me to….
Characters
They’re a mixed bag. I do like a few of them like Captain Crow and Jacob. However, I can’t help but feel that they could’ve been better in a better story. These two headstrong characters bounce off the more idealistic characters well, but they really don’t get much time to shine. Blue is adorable, even though the story never explains where he came from.
But then there’s Maisie. Whom, I thought was going to be this cool, spunky badass kid from the trailers, but I’m sorry. She’s actually kinda annoying. For some reason. She just gives off a lot of precocious vibes, the way this kid talks and uses mannerisms made me cringe, I wouldn’t be surprised if she was secretly some 20/21-year-old in a 8/9 year old body. Her voice actor portrayed her childishness well, but the way she uses snark, how she knows everything, seems to be the only one able to communicate with the beast, comes up with a lot of theories and philosophies too insightful for any under teen year old. She comes off as a kind of arrogant load kid, yet she’s somehow smarter than the adults. Precocious kids are one of my least favorite character types. If you’re going to have a kid act older than their age, either age them up or show us why they were able to grow up so fast.
Animation/Voice Acting
The animation may not really be Spiderverse levels of groundbreaking, but it did have a style that kinda set it apart from other animated films. The voice actors added some charm to their fairly bland characters and did well with what they were given.
Overall
If you’ve seen How to Train Your Dragon, you would’ve already seen a much better written version of The Sea Beast with better pacing and characters and a more complex story. If it was taking a bit of inspiration from HTTYD while changing up some things, it would’ve been okay. But no, it’s pretty much HTTYD, just more basic. And the child protagonist is just Hiccup if he was a Mary-Sue who stole the spotlight from every other character to the point where they never get their chance to shine.
The Sea Beast gets 5.6 bells out of 10.
Tumblr media
Ironic how both this and Wendell and Wild have well-regarded directors-screenwriters came out the same year, yet came up with such poorly written scripts. How the guy who did Zootopia, Moana, and Frozen couldn’t come up with anything else boggles my mind. I don’t know what he was trying to do here, but I hope he does better next time because I think some of his work is really quite good.

If you love animated movies, sea adventures and found family tropes, then "The Sea Beast" is for you (A minor spoilers review)
Recently, Netflix released its new animated movie "The Sea Beast" in a context many of us thought the company wouldn't invert on the genre anymore, and more after it released its aweful movie "Marmaduke" Yet, we achieved to get this masterpiece after that. It's a pity the company didn't make any more promotion than releasing the teaser and the trailer a couple of months before its release, because is one of the best things Netflix has done lately. Without more introduction, I'll tell you of what is about.
Little summary
It happens in a world where the seas are threatened by the presence of dangerous marine beasts who have attacked and terrorized the human race for ages. In a powerful kingdom, many sailors go off to hunt these beasts in the name of their rulers, and they are rewarded and payed for these services. In the time the story happens we get to meet the crew of the "Inevitable" with its owner, Captain Crow; the most famous hunter, Jacob Holland, who became an orphan after his ship was attacked by a sea monster and was later found and adopted by Crow; Sarah Sharpe, Crow's faithful second hand; and Maisie Brumble, a little orphan whose parents died as hunters in a sinking ship, and who later on joins the crew.
The whole gang is after the most feared beast, the Red Bluster, but after a battle with another beast the ship is in a critical condition and they're forced to return to the kingdom. The King and Queen aren't pleased with the hunters' results and they tell Crow, they'll give the task of hunting beasts to the imperial navy. Jacob convinces them to give the crew one last chance to get the Red Bluster.
They set off to hunt the Red beast, and they finally find it, but in the middle of the battle, Jacob and Maisie fall into the sea and are shallowed alive by the beast.
The story then focuses in Jacob and Maisie's journey back home, and how they learn from each other.

My opinions on the movie
Personally, since I watched the trailer I felt really attracted by the plot and the stunning animation. Also, it has been a while since the jokes of an animated movie made me genuenly laugh since Spider-Verse. And, it's been also a while since I enjoyed an adventure genre-themed animated movie, which, I personally like. It has the same taste as How To Train Your Dragon (not only because of the theme of beasts or the Red Bluster being so much visually alike to Toothless) The Adventures Of Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn or Moana. I specially love sailors adventures since I know the book of Treasure Island and its many cinematic adaptations. I really missed those kind of stories, and the Sea Beast has a valuable message about trauma, misunderstanding, social justice and against imperialism and war. Chris Williams is the one that directs it, along with Nell Benjamin, and we couldn't expect less from the person behind Big Hero Six and partially Moana.
I've seen many have said its plot is very predictable, but I don't mind that. There's nothing wrong in being predictable, but there are many people that choose to expect being surprised when the purpose of a story is not how an ending has to be revealed but in which way has to be narrated. I still love they way they show it and the value of what they have to say. I think they did it even better than HTTYD, no intend of being mean to this franchise.
The arc of every character is well written, and I specially love the interaction that Maisie and Jacob have together, and how they help each other to heal their respective scars. They literally find in each other a welcoming and inclusive family.
Along the entire movie, appear a lot of female characters that are well integrated in the envirorment, are strong willed, even some of them with flaws so that's a great plus.
The animation as I have said is really pleasing to watch to, and one and each of the characters' design, including the ones in the background could easily shame an artist with same face syndrome like me. The voice casting is great and the work these actors put on their characters gave them personality and made them iconic.
Now, I would've like to see more of this whole world, more about the other characters, more about the kingdom's history and background, more about these incredible beasts. But of course, it was hard to get everything in an hour and half kids movie. We should be satisfied with what we got.
As it was expected, I fell in love with Maisie's character, although maybe she was too perfect and flawless, but still, I loved her. She has become another favorite girl along with Félicie.
I would personally liked that they gave more chance to Captain Crow. It's not like I feel they didn't do good with his story, but I kinda feel it incomplete when it comes to his relationship with Jacob and even with the Red Bluster. I would like him to have a last word about it because I genuenly liked him as a character.
But those are little whims when it comes to the movie as a whole. In general, I loved the movie and it has become one of my favorites along Ballerina, Spider-Verse, HTTYD, The Adventures Of Tintin and Encanto. I really, really recommend you to watch it if you ike this kind of genre, you'll not regret it.

Filme 5/5! Não percam tempo, vão assistir.

New Post has been published on Restore American Glory
New Post has been published on http://www.restoreamericanglory.com/freedoms/walmart-denied-an-18-year-old-a-gun-oregon-says-they-broke-the-law/
Walmart Denied an 18-Year-Old a Gun. Oregon Says They Broke the Law.
A Walmart in St. Helens, Oregon could be facing a stiff financial penalty thanks to its new age-restrictions on gun sales. After the national chain implemented a new policy in the wake of the Parkland, FL school shooting restricting the sale of guns to those over the age of 21, an Oregon resident named Hannah Brumbles went to her local store in search of a rifle. The 18-year-old college student was denied her purchase, however, thanks to the new rules. She and her father, gun rights activist Chris Brumbles, filed an age-discrimination complaint with the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries in April, claiming the store violated state law.
In a decision this week, the Oregon BOLI agreed with the Brumbles’ complaint.
Walmart was given several opportunities to settle the complaint with the Brumbles family prior to this week’s decision. The family made several monetary offers to the chain, including one for $135,000, which happens to be the same amount an Oregon baker was fined after denying a gay couple their wedding cake. Walmart chose to play hardball, however, offering Hannah Brumbles $150 in exchange for a non-disclosure agreement. If anything, this insulting offer only doubled the family’s resolve.
“What a slap in the face,” Mr. Brumbles told The Chronicle Online. “That $150 was a joke.”
The elder Brumbles denies that his daughter went to Walmart to intentionally trap the retailer in an age-discrimination suit. He says that neither he nor Hannah were aware in April that Walmart had changed their policies and that his daughter is a thoroughly-trained rifle-shooter who is more responsible with her firearms than most people of any age. He told the Chronicle that his complaint against the store was about principle.
“Corporations don’t get to change our laws,” he said. “Normally, if somebody won’t sell you something, you go to another store. But this is a law, and I’ve had family in every single major war this country has ever fought, from George Washington to Afghanistan – my son was in Afghanistan – and these people can go over there when they’re 18 years old and they can fight for these rights, but then come back and can’t exercise them? No. I’m sorry, but no.”
It remains to be seen what kind of financial penalty Walmart will have to pay for violating Oregon state law, but a representative for the company says they are not done fighting the decision.
“In February of this year, we reviewed our policy on firearm and ammunition sales and as a result, we raised the age restriction for the purchase of those items to 21,” a Walmart spokesperson said. “We stand behind our decision and plan to defend it. We are preparing for the November hearing before the administrative law judge.”
