The kdrama takes the classic rich elite ceo family storyline to the next level. It surrounds itself about the injustices of society's issues and Korean labour laws. Just don’t take it too seriously at times, while switching off your brain and enjoy the ride. It’s over the top and the main leads character played by Super Junior’s Siwon, dials up the ham, maybe sometimes overly too funny with the naive dumb awe shucks act being a bit too annoying in the beginning episodes. His character does get a much needed character growth in the mid to later acts. Overall it’s a nice romantic romcom with a great bromance subplot too.

Last night I watched episode 71 and witnessed one of the most moving moments ever in cinematic history. The plot of Dae Jo-yeong is extremely complex as it involves warring factions of Chinese and Korean history who are constantly shifting alliances in an attempt to maintain or regain the security of their tribe or kingdom. Episode 71 revolves around our hero, Dae Joyeong, and his father's efforts to free his son from a slave death camp on Mount Guifu. Dae Jung Sang, (Dae Jo Yeong's father) throws himself upon the mercy of his lifelong enemy General Xue Rengui. The touching scene depicting General Xue's reaction to Jung Sang's request had me sobbing under the covers. Both men, generals who have fought and killed and ordered the deaths of thousands, sit on the floor together crying. General Xue, known for his ruthlessness and bizarre sense of humor, joins the prostrate Jung Sang on the floor and brushes away the father's tears. This is my little homage to what I feel is one of the best made television shows ever. “Oh… you aren’t Dae-chul. Is this not his home?” Chaeryeong looked around confused as she stopped in the living room, facing a woman sitting on the couch.

“No… How did you get in here?” She asked, a bit suspicious, but trying to play it off as a simple mistake. The woman inspected the red-head, considering her and wondering why she seemed so familiar

“You see, I was supposed to meet my friend here… Dae-chul, but I guess I got the address wrong,” she let out a laugh but it sounded forced and lacked humor, “I’ll just let myself out… Sorry for the intrusion.” She tried to dodge the woman’s question, but the girl’s eyes narrowed before Chaeryeong could even step one foot out of her spot.

“Aren’t you that infamous serial killer Lee Chaeryeong? The girl that kills men who cheat?” She asked jokingly, but her suspicion was growing by the minute.

“No…?” She lied and suddenly the knife nestled against her thigh felt heavy. “I think you have me mistaken for someone else. Are you sure this isn’t Dae-chul’s house?” She persisted.

“Um, yeah… He lives nearby and used to come over a lot, but this is mine. How did you say you got in again?” The woman asked, sitting forward more, now very obviously wary of the girl standing in her home. Chaeryeong felt herself begin to sweat. She was never good at lying, and she had also never killed a woman before. She had never wanted to. Never needed to.

She felt her palms begin to itch, wanting to grab the knife from her back pocket, and she began to formulate several different routes of escape. She didn’t want to have to hurt the woman, but if it came between the woman and her own escape, Chaeryeong wouldn’t hesitate.

“What’s your name then, if it’s not Chaeryeong.” The woman persisted before adding, “Mine is Y/N.”

Chaeryeong gulped, she obviously didn’t do well being put on the spot. “Well, my name is Chaeryeong… but I’m not a killer. It’s just a coincidence.”

Y/N felt her stomach plummet. She didn’t know where to go from here, but it seemed neither did Chaeryeong. For whatever reason, Chaeryeong seemed like she didn’t want to kill her. She knew the red-head was known only to slaughter adulterous men, but Y/N didn’t really want to test the waters to find out. However, she couldn’t knowingly let a serial killer back out onto the streets. The men the girl murdered might be scum but that didn’t mean they deserved such a gruesome fate.

“Right… And is it also a coincidence that your “friend,” Dae-chul, just so happens to be a guy who I recently broke up with for cheating on me?”

Once the words finished leaving Y/N’s mouth, Chaeryeong suddenly pulled the knife out from her thigh holster, handling it with grace and somewhat sensuality. Her face had hardened, eyes no longer wide like Bambi but now as sharp as the knife in her hand. “If you know what’s best for you, you’ll let me leave now, and you won’t speak a word of this to anyone.”

As Y/N took a step back, Chaeryeong took a step forward. Yet, despite having the upperhand, if she stepped forward, Chaeryeong stepped back. It looked almost like a dance.

“I don’t want to have to hurt you, Y/N. You seem like a really sweet girl, and I don’t like to hurt such lovely things. But if you don’t let me go, I swear I’ll make your pretty skin bleed redder than my hair.” Y/N stepped back again, hands raised in surrender. Chaeryeong lowered the knife, but her eyes narrowed in suspicion.

“Are you going to tell me where that bastard is then?” Y/N let out a shaky breath and then slowly shook her head. She watched as the red-head’s jaw clenched. A beat passed, Chaeryeong closed her eyes in agitation and then locked eyes on the other woman again.

“Are you going to let me leave peacefully?” But Y/N only shook her head again.

“I can’t do that, Chaeryeong. I’m sorry.” The words came out as more of a plea than apology. Chaeryeong rolled her shoulders back and raised the knife again. Y/N tensed, dropped her hands, and then made a dash for the back door.

Footsteps pounded behind her at the same pace as her heart. The door handle was only inches away from her hand. Pain erupted from the back of her scalp as she was yanked backwards. She fell backwards onto the floor, head bouncing against the clean hardwood.

For a moment, everything was blank. The world was gone. Y/N imagined it was over already. Slowly her vision spotted back in, and she saw the white ceiling, blurry and dancing with black dots. And then she saw blood-red hair and the glint of a knife.

Chaeryeong stared down as Y/N writhed in pain. Her eyes were empty of any emotion, while Y/N’s were filled with fear. She slowly circled the girl on the floor, stepping around to stand over her. She crouched down, gently almost, and straddled Y/N’s waist.

As she felt the weight of the other woman on her, Y/N tried to sit up and push Chaeryeong off of her. Her head throbbed with pain, though, and her vision blurred with every frantic blink. All that came of Y/N’s struggle was her limbs flailing before she slumped back onto the wood flooring. Chaeryeong held the blade to the skin of her neck, face as blank as a fresh sheet of paper.

“I’ll be quick, don’t worry. I’d love to take my time with someone as pretty as you, but I’m afraid I’ll have to rush off in order to make my appointment with your ex.” She said with a pout, but it looked scarier than anything, especially with the darkening of Y/N’s vision.

There was no sound, no dramatic scream, no spray of blood. It was simple. One moment Y/N was seeing, breathing, living; the next it was only darkness. She was gone.

Chaeryeong wiped her blade on the woman’s jeans and stood. She took a moment to just observe her work, as the blood spilled from her throat to the floor and pooled around her head like a halo from hell.

What a beautiful kill for her first female victim. Hopefully her last, but regardless, she’d remember this moment with a fond heart. The experience was more thrilling than any she’d had with a man.

Plot

Lee Seung-Cheon (Yook Sung-Jae) is a high school student. His family is poor and he hates living in a poor environment. One day, he happens to meet an old woman. The old woman tells him that "If you buy this gold spoon for $3 from me, you can change your parents. You'll eat 3 meals with this gold spoon with someone your age and at their house. That person's parents will then become your parents."

Lee Seung-Cheon buys the gold spoon from the old woman and eats 3 times at his friend Hwang Tae-Yong’s house. Hwang Tae-Yong’s father runs a large company. Soon, Lee Seung-Cheon’s life changes.
