Today in a freak accident a container ship leaving the Port of Baltimore struck a support column for the 1.6 mile long Francis Scott Key Bridge causing enough damage to collapse most of the bridge in seconds.
The skyline of Baltimore City will never look the same again

Starting to think about my upcoming show with American Craft Made Baltimore. There’s a lot to plan and create ahead of a big show like this. I’ve learned over the years that starting as early as possible gives me the most flexibility to create my best work. The more time I have the more likely I am to take a creative risk and try something new. It seems that the closer a deadline approaches I start to focus on tried and true pieces and spend more of my time working on things I know have worked in the past. I’m really excited to be bringing some of the new work I created over the last few months to this show. Trying to stay consistent with my studio time every day!

Charm City #1 by Josh Eiserike and Scott Van Domelen. Cover by Hugo Petrus. Variant cover by Tina Ritchie. Out in July.
"The Baltimore police are baffled when a Ravens cheerleader is found floating in the Inner Harbor with an arcane symbol carved onto her corpse. And only Alyssia Singer, music blogger at the Baltimore Sun, knows what it means: that a serial killer is targeting Baltimore's underground witching community. Alyssia - an excommunicated witch who no longer uses magic-must decide: take the case and confront her estranged family and long buried demons… or risk more bodies piling up…"

Don't Shoot the Kitty by Don Kalkman Via Flickr: CSX empty coal train E111 was passing the Waverly detector on the east side of Charm City in 1991.
A trio of former Chessie System SD50s were dodging the clouds and the gunfire as they headed across town on their way back to the coal fields.

Inspiration for the dystopian world of Charm City
Enjoy some inspirational art to go with Charm City, a (Hannigram) futuristic sci-fi soulmate/prison AU I wrote a couple of years ago.

Above is the original manip/collage I made when I first posted the fic.

And this is Charm City in 2323, a growing metropolis on the edge of the ever-rising Chesapeake Bay where buildings and people are stacked on top of each other, and the sewer system is overrun by the poor and sick.
Below is B-more Penitentiary, located in the northernmost district of the twelve thousand square mile city, perched at the epicenter of one of the region's oldest landfills. Home sweet home.

And then there are the characters: freshly incarcerated Willaby Graham of the rich-as-hell Graham Grahams of Graham Park, naturally hiding behind his Green Ghosts; and Hannibal Lecter, the rebellious and cannibalistic son of one of the most prominent geneticists and Den Collectors in all of Charm City.

Next is Matthew Brown, prison guard and commander-in-charge-of-being-a-royal-fuck-up; plus Jackie Crawford, the well-respected warden of B-more Pen.

Lastly, we have good ol' crazy Abel Gideon, the bestest celly ever; and as a bonus: a delicious snack on a tray. Bon appetit.

Give it a read if you like what you see.

Lemon sticks! These are a classic Baltimore treat. Few things are more refreshing on a hot summer day. Just cut a lemon in half, slice the pulp like an asterisk, and stick a soft candy peppermint stick right in there. Then suck the lemon juice through the peppermint stick like a straw. (The lemon juice eats little tunnels in the candy, so it gets easier the further you get into the treat.)
