7. Turn the key switch to the OFF position and retry. Note: Ensure that the information that is entered is an exact match to the information that is displayed on the electronic service tool.

How to inspect the caterpillar325c excavator air intake and exhaust system 
 1. Inspection of air intake and exhaust systems 
 2023 CAT ET 2023A 2022A & 2019C Full Service Download and Installation Service
 (1) Inspection of air intake resistance. If there is resistance in the intake and exhaust systems, it will be the 1U-5470 engine pressure assembly (Figure 3-1-46). 
 1) Check the intake pipe and exhaust pipe of the engine air filter to ensure that the pipes are not leaking.
 2) Check the engine air filter element. Use a clean engine air filter
 3) Check whether there are traces of dirt on the clean side of the engine air filter element. If traces of dirt are observed, it means that the contaminants have entered the engine air filter element and/or filter element seal. . NOTE: Hot engine parts can cause burns. Allow the engine and parts to cool before servicing the engine. Contact with a running engine can result in burns from hot parts or damage from rotating parts. When working on a running engine, avoid contact with hot or rotating parts. 
 4) Measure using the differential pressure gauge in the 1U-5470 engine pressure test assembly  
①As shown in Figure 3-1-50, connect the vacuum port of the differential pressure gauge to test position 3. Test location 3 may be anywhere on intake manifold 2 behind engine air filter 4 and in front of wheel booster 1.

 ②Open the pressure port of the differential pressure gauge to allow it to communicate with the atmosphere. 
 ③Start the engine. Run the engine at high idle speed with no load. 
 ④Record the pressure value, multiply this pressure value by 1.8, and then compare it with the corresponding value below. There is resistance to airflow through an old engine air filter. There will also be some resistance to airflow through a clogged engine air filter. in In the above two cases, the resistance must not exceed 6.2kPa; the resistance of the air flowing through the new air filter element must not exceed 3.7kPa. 
 (2) Inspection of exhaust resistance. Back pressure is the pressure difference between the exhaust pressure at the elbow outlet and the atmospheric pressure. The tools required to check exhaust resistance are 1U-5470 engine pressure components (Figure 3-1-46). NOTE: Hot engine parts can cause burns. Allow the engine and components to cool before servicing the engine. Contact with a running engine can result in burns from hot parts or injury from rotating parts. When working on a running engine, avoid contact with hot or rotating parts. Use the differential pressure gauge in the 1U-5470 Engine Pressure Test Assembly to measure exhaust backpressure. Use the following steps to measure exhaust back pressure. 
 1) As shown in Figure 3-1-51, connect the vacuum port of the differential pressure gauge to test position

NOTICE:
 Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, test- ing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before open- ing any compartment or disassembling any compo- nent containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog"for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. 
NOTICE:
 Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
The Electronic Control Module (ECM) contains no moving parts. Replacement of the ECM can be costly. Replacement can also be a time consuming task. Follow the troubleshooting procedures in this manual in order to be sure that replacing the ECM will correct the problem. Verify that the suspect ECM is the cause of the problem. Note: Ensure that the ECM is receiving power and that the ECM is properly wired to the negative battery circuit before a replacement of the ECM is attempted. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Electrical Power Supply".
NOTICE: If the flash file and engine application are not matched, engine damage may result. 
Perform the following procedure in order to replace the ECM. 1. Record the configuration data: a. Connect Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) to the service tool connector for the engine.
b. Print the parameters from the "Configuration" screen on Cat ET. If a printer is unavailable, record all of the parameters. Record anylogged diagnostic codes and logged event codes for your records. Record the injector trim codes from the "Calibrations"screen in the "Service"menu on Cat ET. Note: The injector trim code is a number that is found on each of the unit injectors. The ECM uses this number to compensate for manufacturing variations between individual injectors. If you replace any ofthe unit injectors, you must reprogram the injector trim code for the new injectors. Also, if you replace the ECM, you must reprogram all of the injector trim codes.
c. Copy the settings for the engine monitoring system. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Event Code List".
d. Use the "Copy Configuration/ECM Replacement"feature that is found under the "Service"menu on Cat ET. Select "Load from ECM"in order to copy the configuration data from the suspect ECM. Note: If the "Copy Configuration"process fails and the parameters were not obtained in Step 1.b, the parameters must be obtained elsewhere. Some of the parameters are stamped on the engine information plate. Most of the parameters must be obtained from the factory.

NOTICE: Use a suitable container to catch any fuel that might spill. Clean up any spilled fuel immediately. NOTICE: Do not allow dirt to enter the fuel system. Thoroughly clean the area around a fuel system component that will be disconnected. Fit a suitable cover over discon- nected fuel system component. c. Remove the fuel lines from the ECM (if equipped). d. Remove the mounting bolts from the ECM. e. Disconnect the ECM ground strap from the engine.
3. Install the replacement ECM. a. Use the old mounting hardware to install the replacement ECM. The mounting hardware should be free of damage. b. Reconnect the fuel lines (if equipped). c. Ensure that the ECM mounting hardware is installed correctly. The fuel lines should not be putting tension on the ECM. The rubbergrommets are used to protect the ECM from excessive vibration. The ECM should be ableto drift in the rubber grommets. If the ECM cannot be moved slightly in the grommets, check that the fuel lines are not pulling the ECM against one side of the grommets. d. Install the ECM ground strap on the engine.
e. Connect the P1 and P2 connectors. Tightenthe allen head screws for each ECM connector to the proper torque. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Inspecting Electrical Connectors"for the a. 4. Restore electrical power to the ECM. 5. Configure the replacement ECM: 
a. Flash program the flash file into the ECM. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Flash Programming" fthcreprc. b. Use Cat ET to match the engine applicationand the interlock code if the replacement ECM was used for a different application.
CAT Caterpillar ET 3 Diagnostic Adapter 317-7485/478-0235 Diagnostic Tool-high quality c. If the "Copy Configuration"process from Step 1.b was successful, return to the "Copy Configuration/ECM Replacement"screen on Cat ET and select "Program ECM".
d. Reprogram the injector trim codes. The injector trim codes are not part of the "Configuration"screen on Caterpillar Electronic Technician
(ET). "Injector Codes Calibration"can be found under "Calibrations"in the "Service"menu on Cat ET. Proceed to Step 5.d.
e. If the "Copy Configuration"process from Step 1.b was unsuccessful, manually program the ECM parameters. The parameters must match the parameters from Step 1.b.
f. If necessary, program the engine monitoring system. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Event Code List".
g. Calibrate the engine speed/timing. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Engine Speed/Timing Sensor -Calibrate".

How to Test a Caterpillar Excavator Unit Injector
 How to test a caterpillar 325C excavator unit injector  
12.2021 Caterpillar ECM ECU Flash Files Full Set Download 
This step can help determine why the injector is misfiring. 
 (1) If you have not yet checked for the presence of air in the fuel, perform the inspection steps and 
refer to the "Air in Fuel Test" section. CAUTION: ELECTRIC SHOCK HAZARD. The voltage used 
by the electronic unit injector system is 90~120V.  
(2) Remove the valve cover and check if there are any broken parts. Repair or replace any broken parts 
found. Check all wiring to the solenoid coil. Check to see if the connectors are loose. Also check to see 
if the wiring is worn or disconnected. Make sure the connector on the unit injector solenoid coil is well 
connected. Perform a tensile test on each wire.
  (3) Check for signs of oil leakage. Investigate the cause of the fuel leak. Repair oil leaks.  
(4) For the single-piece injector cylinder that is suspected to be faulty, check the adjustment of the valve
 clearance. Please refer to the "Inspection and Adjustment of Engine Valve Clearance" section. 
(5) Make sure the bolts holding the unit injector are tightened to the correct torque. To check the 
torque, loosen the bolts holding the unit injector. Tighten the bolts to the correct torque.

 (6) Remove the suspected faulty unit injector and check for signs of coolant leakage. Leaking coolant 
can cause corrosion on the fuel injectors. If the unit injector shows signs of leaking coolant, remove the 
injector sleeve and inspect it. If the injector sleeve is damaged, replace it. Inspect unit injectors for 
excessive brown stains that have spread to the injector tips. If excessive stains are found, check the fuel 
quality. Refer to the "Testing of Fuel Quality" section. Replace the seal on the injector and reinstall the 
injector. Check for soot accumulation on the surface of the injector seat. If soot accumulates, there is a 
gas leak. The cause of the leak should be found and repaired. If the fault is a gas leak, there is no need 
to replace the injector.

Caterpillar 320C Excavator Track Assembly Removal Guide
This instruction show you guide on how to remove track assembly for Caterpillar 320C excavator. Procedures: 1. Install Tooling (D) in the track link and on the sprocket, as shown. 2. Start the machine. Move the sprocket forward until the track assembly is pulled up on the sprocket. Move the sprocket forward until the end of the track assembly is past a vertical line through the center of the sprocket. Remove Tooling (D).
3. Install Tooling (E) between the first bushing in the track link and the track shoe, as shown.
CAT SIS 2021 EPC Service Manual Free Download 4. Move the sprocket forward. Use Tooling (E) to guide the track assembly over the carrier rollers and the front idler. 5. Use a suitable lifting device to raise the front of the track assembly. Install Tooling (A) in position under the track shoe, as shown. 6. Apply Tooling (F) on two track bushings. Install the bushings in the track links. The grease will hold the bushings in place. 7. Apply Tooling (F) in the master pin bores in the track assembly and on the master pin. 8. Connect the ends of the track assembly. Make sure that the pin bore in each end of the track assembly is aligned with each other. 9. Install Tooling (G) in the track assembly. Make sure that Tooling (G) is centered in the track links. Use Tooling (G) and a hammer to install master pin (2). Note: If you can not install master pin (2) with the hammer, use Tooling (C) to install master pin (2). Refer to Illustration 5.
CAT adapter 3 10. Install the cotter pin in the master pin. Remove Tooling (A) from the rear of the track assembly. Note: Refer to Special Instruction, "Track - Assembly" for further information regarding Tooling (C).
CAT ET 2022A Diagnostic Software 11. If the track shoe on each side of the master pin was removed, reinstall the track shoes. Use Tooling (B) to reinstall the track shoe mounting bolts. 12. Tighten the tension of the track. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Track Adjustment - Adjust" for the correct procedure.
