I'm going to call it now. Between Stephen Fry's casting, that snippet of dialogue and the fact that Catherine is nowhere to be seen it's pretty clear the movie won't make the king the bad guy. He'll be some kind of regretful patriarch that loves his grandchildren and just needs to be shown the error of his ways. Casey Mcquiston made the queen the bad guy instead of the Firm, or like institutionalized white supremacy, and Greg Berlanti is never going to remotely criticise anyone powerful so he'll do away with that too. This fandom is already full of white liberal bootlickers who think Alex marrying into violent colonialism is a diversity win and is unhappy with the fact that Henry abdicated. Y'all will go the rest of the way and throw all actual colonized people in fandom under the bus for your gay rep because that's the whole white queer brand and Alex is just the personification of the progress flag for you.

Things got better for her after Donnie apologized to her and stopped trying to win her over after Big Foot. Casey eventually lost interest in her as well and started dating someone else (after the space arc).

Since they were on the farm she connected more with Leo. When they recaptured New York, they started messengers more often and sometimes Leo would stay chatting with her in her room. Thanks to these talks, Leo realized that he believed that he didn't feel like a boy, and he told her so.

They began to research and test new pronouns for Leo, but the death of Master Splinter put a stop to their search for their gender identity. Leo stopped going to see her, and they didn't chat so often anymore, only for important things. April understood that they wanted space, they were mourning, but she didn't want them to distance themselves so much, it hurt to see them like this.

One day she got fed up and confronted them, she told them that they couldn't keep acting so distant with her and their brothers, and Lee exploded, told her all the burden they had felt since they became the leader of the Hamato clan. How they have to be the sensei of her and their brothers. They told her that it also hurts them to receive a message from her and don't know what to reply.

April hugged them and told them not to carry it alone. If they didn't want their brothers to worry, fine, but from now on she was going to help them.

And they do it like that.

They continued their search and found out that Lee was a trans girl. April helped her tell her brothers.
