Purely out of curiosity since ur rewatching TVD, what is your opinion on the absolute use and abuse of Bonnie Bennett throughout the entire series?? And how would you as a writer have approached her character and arcs instead?? Just wanted hear ur trusted and intellectual perspective on this 😔😔🤍
Trusted and intellectual, nonnie? 🤣 I can't tell if you're being ironic and this is trying to poke fun at me somehow or not, so I'll just assume it's an honest question, even if there's nothing trustworthy or intellectual about my takes on this teen vampire drama 🤣🤣
I have talked about Bonnie before, but I don't think I had ever watched the show start to finish from season 1, and it becomes even more glaringly obvious how awful the writing for her character is. Even when the show is at its best, Bonnie never is. She starts from a place of semi-protagonism, discovering her witchy powers at the same time Elena meets Stefan, and we're led to believe she's going to play a huge role, right? That figuring out this story is gonna go right through her. And then by the end of S1, they bump her down to somehow being less relevant than Caroline, who at this point had nothing going on for her besides a failed romance with Matt (she becomes a vampire on the last episode of S1, I think). Caroline gets the complicated romances, she gets the vampire arc, then Tyler being a werewolf situation, her drama with her mother, and then she gets Klaus. Meanwhile, Bonnie gets absolutely no plots of her own.
She's barely a person at all. Literally, when they have no use for her saving Elena, she doesn't even appear. We know nothing about her family, I don't think they even mention Bonnie's mom abandoned her, we don't even know she lives with her father, we don't see her house like we see Caroline's and Elena's. I just watched ep 1 of S3 today, and she's away with 'her father's family' but who are they? Who's her father?? We only meet him in S4 and somehow are led to believe he'd always been there and was somehow important enough to be appointed mayor, even though he was never a part of the town council. Why??
I can get behind Bonnie taking her mother's last name because, I don't know, the Bennetts are important, but they never make it seem like they are, so it doesn't make any sense?? Although, coming to think of it, it's weird with Caroline too. Liz is not a Forbes, and yet we hear her family has also always been in on the whole vampire thing, even though the founding family is on her father's side?? Just stupidity, I guess. But anyway. Why couldn't they make Bonnie's father a Bennett instead and then have him be a major part of the town's secret dealings like everyone else? Why not get them involved in the whole political shenanigans going on? The Bennett's had been there since BEFORE the founding families, they are a powerful witch line, and yet we're supposed to believe they relinquished all the power to the white idiots all this time? Why haven't they been pulling the strings around the city? Why did Emily Bennet never play a bigger role other than as Katherine's maid?
Why wasn't Bonnie even selected to be among the Miss Mystic Falls girls?? Why wasn't she invited to the Mikaelson ball? Are we supposed to believe that Esther wouldn't want to meet the descendant of the witch Ayana?? Why bring Bonnie's mom into this at all, someone who had never been a part of anything, if they could've just had her father play a big role in EVERYTHING from the start and make the Bennetts a real powerhouse in the story? They could've been the real chiefs in town, not the Lockwoods.
And then when we learn about Bonnie's mom, we find out she ALSO sacrificed her powers AND HER DAUGHTER just to protect Elena because of her good friend Miranda??? Seriously?? This is so fucked up.
Bonnie honestly has no agency within the plot, ever. She's just this artifice to fix whatever the writers come up, just a tool for salvation. It's lazy, lazy and RACIST writing, IMO. We hear she's super powerful, that her witchy line is the most powerful one ever, going all the way back to Qetsiyah, and yet that never manifests into the story. When they need Bonnie to be some deux ex machina type, she is. When they don't, she's weak. She loses her powers, she gives it away willingly, she DIES about 100 times like she has no aspirations of her own other than saving Elena and Jeremy. Caroline gets a full personality (even if everyone rolls their eyes at her, which is a different thing), but what are Bonnie's traits, other than being brave and loyal and self-sacrificing? What are Bonnie's aspirations?
The fact that out of eight seasons, she doesn't have a love interest for one and a half, and spends from S2 to S6 hung up on Jeremy is just !!!! Dude cheats on her, betrays her, is useless and boring, leaves the show, comes back, and Bonnie is somehow ALWAYS still in love with him. Tbh, their entire relationship seems like an attempt at giving Jeremy more purpose than adding anything to Bonnie's development. It's ridiculous.
At some point, we meet this woman who says she's a Bennett cousin, someone who was helping Katherine in S2, and she tells Bonnie she'll come back, but then we never hear about her again??? Why couldn't this woman have come back to teach Bonnie about her ancestors, about the Bennetts, about magic? Why didn't she get that story arc?
It's been mentioned several times how awful the treatment of Kat Graham was. So much so she gets war flashbacks whenever anyone mentions The Vampire Diaries next to her. I even read that they were giving her crappy story lines in order to get her to quit the show on her own. That they'd act like that towards their single black actor on the show, knowing she was facing blatant disrespect behind the scenes from some of her coworkers, is just awful. It's racist, racist crap, there's no other word for it.
How I would fix her arcs is too loaded a question, because there are too many arcs, and too much to fix. I'm not really a writer, nor am an intellectual lol So I don't know if I'd be capable of giving her the protagonism she deserved. But I just wish they'd fleshed out Bonnie the way they did others. Given her aspirations, plans, her own story lines separate from everyone else (like Caroline and Tyler or Caroline and Klaus or Caroline and her mom or Caroline and the twins). Giving her a home and a family would've humanized her. I wish they'd made the story run through her, instead of using her, that they'd given her all the power we hear she's supposed to have. By the end of TVD, Bonnie should've been crowned THE MOST POWERFUL WITCH ON EARTH, period. Her journey should've taken her there. Instead, she keeps getting outshined by everyone else.
I wish she'd gotten a good love interest (NOT JEREMY). Personally, I liked her and Damon in S6/7/8. WAY more than I ever liked her and Enzo, tbh. I read that Ian and Kat were SUPER pushing for Bamon, and it honestly would've been an interesting arc?? I know people are gonna say 'ew, problematic', but honestly every single ship on this show is problematic in some way, it's a vampire show, and the two of them as friends were super cute. Plus, they did have a lotta chemistry.
And the big thing for me is that Bonnie should've been leading lady after Elena leaves. It just made sense. Bumping Caroline up to that spot was ???? I love Caroline, she's my absolute favorite, but why?? What about her character journey or her importance within the show made her leading character material? Bonnie, otoh, made perfect sense. She was super powerful, she could steer the story, AND there was the beautiful poetry of her taking over Elena's place. Since Elena was asleep for as long as she was alive, then why not actually give a great life to live, for once, since they'd never allowed her to do it while Elena was in the picture. But no. Instead, she loses her powers. 🙃
Something I also would've loved to see happen is having her moved over to TO. Since they clearly didn't want her in TVD, why not put her in the neighboring show and give her a more important role? A Bennett witch among the New Orleans covens could've been great. Even if it was just for a short arc, I would've appreciated that. There's a whole thing at the end of S1 of TO where Klaus gets in touch with Bonnie about the collapse of the Other Side and then we learn Esther used that to bring herself, Finn and Kol back to life. There was a good crossover opportunity there that was just wasted. Even Matt and Alaric crossover to TO. Why not Bonnie?
Anyway. 🤣 If this wasn't meant as a serious ask, nonnie, I'm sorry for the bible answer, but joke is on you cause clearly I have lots of FEELS. Though none of this is groundbreaking, it's just obvious stuff. I've only just started S3 though, I'm sure I'll get more outraged as I move forward.
IN CONCLUSION 🥲 Bonnie was a badly written, barely humanized character ON PURPOSE, but Kat Graham portrayal of her, in spite of all the awful story lines, was so genuine and so full of heart that we cared for her and loved her anyway. She gave life to someone who was mistreated by the writing team from start to finish. She deserves the world, JUSTICE FOR BONNIE BENNETT.

{It’s father’s day here in the UK tomorrow...and I’m low-key just thinking about it being the anniversary of the day Alex killed his host dad...cause...y’know...what better day to fatally poison your father than on the day you’re supposed to appreciate him the most? 😂}

AGTAW — I: Twila Gilbert
Tumblr media
“Twila, did you take my dark blue leather jacket?!” Elena Gilbert strides into her sister's bedroom without a simple thing as a kick. She halts upon laying her doe brown eyes on her sister; her mouth parted and her thin brows furrowing. There her sister stood in only a bra and panties but that's not what shocked her, it was the fact that Twila was in her underwear with a boy in her room. He sat at the edge of her queen-sized bed that was covered in gray and black sheets and heavy blankets. His elbows pressing down on his lap and his back hunched over. His deep brown eyes moved to the elder Gilbert twin.
The later twin — Twila — with celerity wheeled her body around, her large hazel brown eyes aimed at her sister sharply. Her body hiding the boy behind her midway. And the somewhat naked girl's medium brown hair that fell into a sepia reddish-brown moved sweetly and nimbly stroke her neck. A rainbow stripe shirt held between her fingers — a shirt she was about to put on before Elena intruded her bedroom.
Twila briskly put the rainbow shirt on, after she tugged the shirt down, stretching out slight folds on the fabric and she stomped her way towards the elder Gilbert. Elena's doe eyes stayed fixed on the boy that sits peacefully on her little sister's bed. She disliked this — and she disliked it even more that the boy who looked so peaceful and unbothered had no shirt on.
Why doesn't he have a shirt on? Elena query herself.
“Don't you know how to kick?” Twila asked heatedly. Elena's eyes fluttered to the younger twin.
“I-I. . .” The words just wouldn't come out. Her eyes wandered to the boy on her sister's bed. Elena wanted to say ''no boys allowed in the bedroom'', she wanted to ask why Twila had no clothing on and why was he shirtless, what was happening. Elena gasped as the boy known as Clarkson sent a wink to her then frowned.
Twila pushed Elena out of her room, slamming the door in her face.
“No boys in the room, Twila!” Elena finally found her voice.
“You're not my fucking mother, Elena!!” Twila waits to hear the footsteps of her sister walking away. It did not take long. Today, Elena had no energy to lecture her. Twila was grateful. She twirled back around, walking towards the end of her bed.
“Will, that was a show.” Clarkson Forsyth spoke, a lopsided smirk on his soft pink lips. Twila mocked smiled at the boy, picked up his black tee off her bed then threw it at him, hitting his face.
“Yeah, you would think that.” Their giggles bounded off the four walls. “Hurry up. Martin and Vera are picking us up in sixteen.” Twila told the boy as she made her way into her closet and yanked a pair of pants off the hanger.
“So should I hop out the window and wait for you outside?” Clarkson said, standing from the bed, the black shirt in his hold as he goes. He flipped the shirt over and slid his arms in the sleeves then pulled the shirt over his head and pulled it down over his body. Twila stepped out of the closet wearing dark blue loose jeans and held two pairs of black sneakers in her hand. She walked towards her bed, displaying a frown on her face.
“What? No.” Twila sits down at the end of her bed and pulls out the socks she tucked into her sneakers. “I'm fucking hungry, and I know you are too.” Twila slipped the sneakers on her feet and tied them up.
“I just don't want to start—” Clarkson started, taking small steps towards the Gilbert girl.
“Clark, you've been my best friend since kindergarten. My family knows you and Aunt Jenna is cool, and she likes you. You're not going to start anything. . .” Once she finished tying her shoelaces, Twila looked over to the obsidian hair strong-jawed boy. “. . . Okay.”
Clarkson chortle. “Yeah, okay.”
Twila nods slightly with a smile. “Okay.” She pushed herself off the bed. “Don't mind Elena, she's just being a prude. Elena's been all big-sister ever since mom and dad passed. The girl is only four minutes older than me but that is a mile for her.”
Clarkson cracks a tiny smile. “How are you feeling, anyway?”
Twila was quiet for a second, thinking of what to say. She looked up at her best friend and greeted him with a sad smile.
“Getting better. Can't do anything but get better. The world goes on.” Twila gives him a longer smile that forcefully reaches her cheeks. Clarkson pulls her into a hug. It took a while for Twila to react back, but she did; wrapping her arms around him tightly.
“Thanks — for being here for me. I didn't know what I would have done without you last night.”
It was late at night when the boy called, gasping with sobs and in need of his best friend. Twila immediately told him to come over. She sat up on her bed and rubbed her sleep away, awaiting his arrival. Finally arriving at the Gilbert home, Twila hugged him and listened to his recent problems with his father as he cried on her shoulder. Twila did not mind — Clarkson was there for her when her parents passed; even invited her to crash in his room when she did not feel like being at Caroline's. After his tears dried out, they watched Buffy together on her baby-blue-covered laptop — forgetting about the sadness as they laughed away.
“Of course, Clark. I will always be here for you.” Twila pulled from the hug, her hands clasping his biceps tenderly then she gave him a fast smile. “Now get off of me,” She pushed him jocosely. “C'mon, I'm starved.” Clarkson chortled with a head shake; the two grab their belongings and head downstairs.
Twila and Clarkson dumped their belongings on the sofa before passing the threshold into the kitchen. The gold sunlight streamed through the square window; the silhouette of the window slept on the kitchen Island and kissed Jeremy's naked arm.
“Good morning, Gilbert family!!.” Twila smiled wide at her family that was diffuse around the kitchen area.
“Morning, Twila,” Aunt Jenna says softly, tipping her head back from the refrigerator door, welcoming Twila back with a duplicate smile. Her eyesight moved to the boy beside her niece. “Oh, hey Clark. I didn't know you were here.”
“Yeah, I hope you don't mind. Just needed my best friend last night.”
“Oh, nonsense,” Jenna waves him off. “You are welcome anytime. Would you like some toast?”
Twila's eyes instantly widened, jerking her head from side to side, “Oh, no. I'm making waffles. Don't need you having us eating rocks, Aunt Jenna.”
“Not rocks, Twila. Just burnt toast.” The kitchen erupted with laughter for everyone's lips — even Jeremy's. The boy who had been in the dump all summer, spending his time with Vicki Donovan and drug heads. Both Gilbert twins were happy to hear him laugh again; they haven't heard it in a while. Elena shook her head in the corner with a smile and a mug in her hands. After, she pulled it closer to her lips, taking a sip. “Who needs lunch money?”
“Here!” Both Twila and Jeremy raised their hands, shouting.
“Elena?” Jenna walked to her bag that sits on the chair at the dinner table.
“No thanks, Aunt Jenna.”
“Okay.” The strawberry blond rummaged through her bag, pulling out three twenty-dollar bills. “Here you go.” Jenna handed Jeremy and Clarkson each a twenty.
“Oh no Jenna, you don't have to,” Clarkson says, declining the money.
“I know, I want to. So take the money.”
“Take the money!” Twila yelled, not sparing a glance over her shoulders. Her eyes were fixed on the waffles, she didn't want them to burn like Aunt Jenna does every time she cooks something.
“Yeah, or I'll take it.” Jeremy playfully stood up acting as if he was honestly going to, Aunt Jenna pushed him back on his seat.
“Sit down.” She told the boy. “Take it.” She utters to Clarkson, pushing it at his crest.
“Okay, okay. . . Thanks, Jenna.”
“No problem. Twila, yours is on the table.”
“Thanks, Jenna.”
“Don't you have a big presentation today?” Elena reminds the young caretaker.
“I'm meeting with my thesis advisor at. . .” Jenna glanced down at her watch and freaked, “Now. Crap!”
“Then go. We'll be fine.” Jenna nodded at Elena, she quickly put her hair up in a ponytail with a rubber band then grabbed her bag, and dashed out the side door.
Twila plopped the last waffle on top of the rest. Elena walked towards her sister, standing beside her.
“Why was Clarkson in your room?” Elena inquired.
The sepia brunette twisted her neck to her twin. “Because he came over last night.”
“Why?”
“Because he needed a friend, Elena. You know, like how Bonnie comes over when she needs you.”
“Bonnie's not a boy.”
Twila's brows narrowed down and her eyelids batted. She can't believe what Elena was saying to her right now. She angles her body, facing her sister.
“Elena, you know Clark for as long I've been friends with him.”
“Doesn't mean he's not a boy.”
Twila turned away from Elena; grabbing the pleat of waffles, she was done with this exchange. Before she walked off she targeted her big brown hazel eyes at her sister once more.
“I don't know when you've become such a wet blanket but stop with the mothering act. I can have whoever I want in my room.”Twila let Elena know, leaving her there speechless.
Twila was wordless while she ate her waffles, Jeremy and Clarkson on the other hand talked as if they were in a club meeting. The conversation with Elena left a sour taste in her mouth, she still enjoyed her waffles of course, but she was upset. Her big brown hazel eyes glared at her twin as she asked Jeremy a simple question: if he was okay. She snickers at Jeremy's response and rolled her eyes when Elena glanced at her with a confused pouty face.
Elena folds her arms and walks off from the three teens, not soon later Twila's phone buzzes. A text from Vera telling Twila she and Martin were outside. A small smile pulls at her perfect lips as she stares at the screen. Twila slides the phone back into her pocket and sights her eyes on her brother and best friend.
“Vera and Martin's outside.” Clarkson got the hint. He hopped off the stool, grabbing his pleat and then Twila's. She gave him a soft thank you. “Need a ride, Jer?”
“Sure.” Jeremy got off the stool taking his dish, going towards the sink. Clark and Jeremy end up in a —you go first, I go first— situation. Jeremy stepped aside letting Clarkson pass. Clark smiled up at him shyly. Twila looked at him with a knowing smile, and he ignored her smug look while he walked to the living room area grabbing his book bag on the sofa.
Twila walked up behind Clarkson, playfully bumping into him. “Oh, I'm sorry. You first. No, you go first. I go left, you go right? Oh, um. . . okay.” Twila laughed at her dramatic imitation of Jeremy and Clarkson's exchange in the kitchen.
“Ssh, shut up. He could hear you.” He whispered to the girl over his shoulder.
Twila rolls her eyes, “Oh, please.” She grins and moves from behind him, going to grab her book bag also. Clarkson shook his head, letting out a stressful sigh. Hoping Jeremy didn't hear his sister mocking.
“Come on, Jer!”
“Coming!” He placed the wet dish on the dish rack and rushed his way out of the kitchen grabbing his book bag on the chair head. “Hey Vera, Martin.” Jeremy greets his sister's two best friends. Vera is a square face, soft beige skin brunette with deep-set dark brown eyes. Her brows were black-filled and straight. Her hair was black and short in a pixie rat tail cut, her bangs were cut right above her eyebrows, and two long strips of black hair fell just under her chin on each side of her face.
“Hey, Jeremy.” Vera greeted back.
Martin was an almond skin boy with long brown hair and a handsome diamond-shaped face. His eyes are hooded, small, and brown. Martin is Vera's half-brother and was Twila's boyfriend of two years, now ex-boyfriend but still great friends.
“S'up, Jeremy. How's it been?” Martin made conversation.
“Okay. How about you?”
“Fan-fuckin-tastic. I got this new skateboard from my dad. It—”
“Please, stop talking about the skateboard. No one cares, Martin.” Vera twists her head briskly at her brother before aiming her sights back at the road.
“You're just mad I'm better than you.” Martin retorted.
“Ha! Better than me? Jokes. . . That was a funny joke.”
“You—”
“Please, can you turn on the radio? Don't need to hear your brother-sister bickering.” Jeremy and Clarkson chuckle at Twila's insult. Vera rolled her eyes yet she did what was told and made a turn; passing The Mystic Grill. The song WANNABE by Spice Girls blasted throughout the dark blue color car.
Vera, Clarkson, and Twila belled along with the song. Martin and Jeremy had no choice but to tolerate the ordeal of their boisterous singing.
“So, here's a story from A to Z. You wanna get with me, you gotta listen carefully. We got Em in the place who likes it in your face.” Twila bells.
“You got G like MC who likes it on a. Easy V doesn't come for free, she's a real lady. And as for me?” Vera follows.
“HA, YOU'LL SEE.” The three teens yell from the top of their lungs like a banshee's cry.
“C'mon guys.” An annoyed Jeremy wailed.
Martin's eyes traveled from the backseat to his sister. “Yeah, guys cut it off.”
“Slam your body down and wind it all around! Slam your body down and zig-a-zig ah!” They laughed at how irked the two boys were.
Twila pushed herself off her seat, her lips went to Martin's ear. “If you wanna be my lover!” Twila ear-splittingly sings.
Martin slapped his hand against his ear, “Twila, what the fuck!”
“You gotta get with my friend!” Vera sings.
“Friendships last forever!” Clarkson followed along.
“Friendship never eennnnds!” The three belled.
“That's not how it goes.”
“I don't give a shit, Martin. Now, get out of my car. We're here.” The long-haired boy rolled his eyes and pushed the car door open; he stepped out. The four other kids in the car followed shortly after.
“So — the boy had to sleep with her friends to be considered her lover?” Jeremy queried his eldest sister.
“That's not the message of the song, Jer.”
“Well, that's what it said.”
“Yeah, but—”
“Hey, Jeremy.” Vicki Donovan smiled making her way to Jeremy.
Jeremy copies and greets her back. “Hey, V.”
“Twila.” She uttered, moving her eyes to Twila.
“Victoria.” Twila gave a faint smile. Vicki and Twila were once good friends. They got especially close when Elena and Matt started dating but had a fallout this summer when she started to use her baby brother for his prescription pills and sleeping with him to avoid her own screwed-up life.
“Okay, let's go bitc—” Vera stops when her eyes set on Vicki Donovan. “Speaking of bitch.” Her hip cocked out, her fingers tucked into the back of her blue denim jeans pockets.
Vicki's mouth agape and her brows knitted. Her lips hastily retrieve with a curl and a scoff. Vera took hold of Twila's wrist, pulling the girl away from Vicki.
“See ya, Jeremy.” She said as the group of friends part ways from the young boy and ex-friend. “I still can't believe you allow him to be around her.”
“There are certain things I can tell Jeremy to do and certain things I could. He's hard-headed like that.” Twila explained with a shrug.
Lunch came fast for Twila. She had six-period lunch and had Mr. Tanner after. She was tired and glad the school day was almost over. Then she remembered she had to help Caroline with picking out some fresh faces for the new year try-outs after school. Great. She sighed.
“You look exhausted,” Vera slid, sitting down on the curved seat. She set her tray on the round cafeteria table. Today's lunch is a ham sandwich, chicken nuggets, apple, and a side of salads with a dressing of your choice and beverage. The food at Mystic Falls High wasn't so bad.
“I am.” Twila pushes her hair back, fingers gripping her hair softly. “I just wanted to go home after school and have a nice bubble bath, but I have try-out picking to do after school.” She wailed and pouted. Twila felt like sobbing, she truly needed and wanted that bubble bath.
“Aww, don't be so down, Twila. I'm sure you'll be fine.” Vera grabs a hold of her sandwich, taking a big bite.
“Let me detail it for you.” Twila leans forward, her hair falling as she moves her fingers and locks her big eyes with Vera's deep-set ones. “I'm try-out picking after school — with Caroline.”
“Ohh. . .” Vera sees the problem now.
Twila smiled tightly and her eyes squinted a bit and a little hum leaving her lips. Her smile says: now you get it. “It's going to be hell.”
“Aww, Twila. I'll be there for you.” Vera's mouth was occupied by food, she kept her teeth locked while her lips moved. The words came out muffled. Twila smiled anyway.
“You will?” Twila's lower lip pushes out.
Vera nods and speaks after swallowing. “If you need me, of course.”
“Aww, thanks,” The short-haired brunette joined her palm on top of Vera's hand. “But I can't do that to you.” She removed her hand, stealing Vera's apple. “I'll go through the belly of the beast on my own.” She takes a bit of the apple. Vera laughed.
“The belly of what beast?” Clarkson arrives, taking a spot next to Vera; Martin follows beside him.
Vera's eyes travel to the raven-haired boy. “Caroline.” She informed him.
“What about Caroline?” Martin questioned.
“I've got some fresh cheerleaders to pick out with Caroline after school.”
“Oh.” Clarkson and Martin mumble. Twila nods at the boys, chewing through the green apple.
Martin swallows down his food with water before speaking. “Aren't you co-captain? Can't you just do it another time?”
“No.” She placed the apple down on the table. “I'll just get it over with.”
“Clarkson, where were you last night?!” Barbie Forsyth asked, approaching the small group. Clarkson eyed up his sister. She stood with her hands at her hips.
“At Twila's.” He answered honestly. Barbie's eyes went to Twila; they had a squint to them.
“Of course.” She scoffed, shifting her eyes back at her brother.
The bottled blonde — Barbie Forsyth — never had a good relationship with Twila Josephine Gilbert. Ever since Twila ruined Barbie's gingerbread house in elementary school; just because she wanted a piece. And the other time they were partnered up in a history project. Barbie had done all the work and Twila just plastered her name on the paper. But those weren't the reasons why Barbie didn't like the big-eyed Gilbert all that well. For as long as she could remember, Clarkson and Twila were inseparable. She always felt like Twila was more of Clarkson's sister than she ever was.
“Why were you at her house?”
“I, uh. . . I needed someone to talk to.”
Barbie's head jerked forward. Unbelievable, she thought. “You could have talked to me.” Her light green eyes stayed on her brother; it made Clarkson feel guilty the way they were intensely piercing at him. Her eyelids blinked and she rolled her eyes. “Whatever. I wanted to speak to you last night.”
“Okay. . . What?”
Barbie glanced at Twila, who like everyone else at the table was focused on them. Barbie looked back at her brother. “Not here in front of her.” She yanked the boy, pulling him off his seat and away from the group.
Vera chortle, aiming her sight on Twila. “I'm guessing she still hates you for not doing the history project in middle school.”
“Ha, guessing?” Martin uttered. “It's a known fact she does.”
Twila laughed along with her friends, brushing down the fact that deep down she felt awful that her best friend's sister hated her for something she did in middle school. Not knowing that Barbie didn't dislike her because of some petty school project issue, the bottled blonde felt like Twila took her brother from her.
“Once our home state of Virginia joined the confederacy in 1861, it created a tremendous amount of tension within the state. People in Virginia's northwest region had different ideals than those from the traditional deep south. Then Virginia divided in 1863 with the northwest region joining the union.”
In the back corner of the room, Twila sat near the large windows. Mr. Tanner's voice was inaudible to her ears as she doodled in her history book. Through the windows, the evening sun rays hit the desk of students and the classroom floor. One golden glint shimmers comfortably on Twila's hair. A rainbow hues sat at her open history book, making Twila stop her hand movement. She admired the reflection of the colorful lights. Rainbows are one of Twila's favorable things about nature. Rainbows and heavy rain on a lazy afternoon, but she always hated the after smell. It always smelled of wet soil and moist greens.
Her large eyes wandered to the windows, it landed on the tree just outside Ms. Tanner's classroom. A crow sitting perfectly inanimate, as if it was a statue.
It was larger than most. Its feathers pitch as black but the little sunlight that hits its feathers shine a rainbow on it. It was sleek and had greedy dark claws and a sharp beak. Its black eyes glittered, and they were fixed on Elena; the brunette that sits two rolls down from Twila.
Twila watched the crow leer at her twin with this inclination in its eyes. Like how boys' eyes linger on a girl wearing tight clothes; those tops that pop out their cleavage or dresses that outline their bodies.
It was creepy, to say the least.
Then its dark eyes blink at Twila. The girl flinched back a bit, her eyes got broader, but they stayed on the bird. It was like the bird was challenging her; playing with her. A game of who would look away first.
The school bell boom, Twila flinched once more. Her eyes flutter to the front of the classroom seeing everyone packing up.
She lost.
Twila stood up, grabbing her book bag along, and followed her way out the room behind the crowd of teenagers. The short brunette sauntered her way through the crowded hall; she made a right, passing four classroom doors before reaching the staircase. She walked four flights of stairs down, landing on the first floor she went to her locker, putting and taking some of her things then — to Caroline she went.
Twila walked through the football field towards the concern the school gave the cheerleaders to practice. Her eyes gazed at the wannabe cheerleaders of all ages and sizes perfecting their moves. It brought a smile to her face.
Until Caroline spoke.
“Ugh, there you are.” The blonde's voice reached Gilbert's. Twila rolled her eyes. Always Caroline, the extra control Queen.
“Hello to you too, Care.” Twila drops her bag on the green cut grass. “Let's get this over with, shall we?” Some in the flock of wannabe cheerleaders chortle.
Caroline narrows her light bluish-green eyes before throwing Twila a mocked cheesy grin. The blonde pulled the sheet of paper to her eyesight. “Okay, first off you are going to be asked some questions — okay.” The group nods. “Okay, any of you guys have experience with cheerleading? Like gymnastics, dance, or have ever cheered before? If you have, raise your hand.” Caroline nods and marks it down. Caroline glanced to her side, “You want to say something, or are just going to stand there. Co-captain.”
Twila steps forward with a smirk. “All who have experienced step forward, those who don't. Please take a seat at the bleachers.” They followed their orders and Twila continued. “Now I want you all to show me what you've got. Jump, tumble, split, dance? Whatever you've got.”
The fourteen that step forward show Caroline and Twila what they could bring to the team. Both girls watched with sharp eyes. Twila had nicely commented on one girl who intended to do a cartwheel backflip after Caroline rudely told her she shouldn't try it again.
Twila told her she should. She did and succeeded. It was much better the second time around.
Throughout the try-out, Caroline rolled her eyes, scoffed, and scored the wannabe cheerleaders. Twila on the other hand praised and nicely Judged their performance. But she had snickered here and there with the blonde.
“Okay, we are done.” Twila was glad. “Those who made the team will be getting an email in two days and those who didn't,” Caroline sucked air through her teeth. “Too bad.” She shines her big smile, “Okay, bye.”
It was late afternoon and the sun cast a golden shadow upon the sky and Twila didn't care that it was four something when she got home, she was just happy she got her bubble bath. Her arms rest on the top edge of the tub and her hair held up by a black hair claw. She relaxed peacefully in the warm water and the smell of cinnamon, she bathed in the quietness. That was until Elena ruined it.
“Elena!” Twila shouts at her sister that breaks into the bathroom.
“Sorry,” Elena says. “Bleeding.” She put her foot on top of the toilet cover and rolled the bottom of her jeans up.
Twila looked down seeing the dry blood, “What happened?”
“I fell in the cemetery when I was running from a crow.
“Running from a crow?” It's brought a chill down Twila back. Her mind wondered if it could be the same crow watching her from the tree outside Ms. Tanner's window. No, she's just being paranoid.
“Yes.” Elena rolled down the leg of her jeans after cleaning the scraps on her leg and putting on a bandage.
“What were you doing at the cemetery?”
Elena put her foot down on the bathroom ground, sighed, and sat down on the bath cover. “I went to see mom and dad.”
Twila rolled her pretty eyes. “But you didn't see them, did you? You went to see a stone with their names plastered on it.” Twila's fingers wave in the bubble, playing with them. It was stupid for Elena to go see a piece of rock with their parent's names on it. It wasn't gonna bring them back, She thought, nothing was gonna bring them back.
Elena sighs and brushes her hair back. “I'm going to the grill, you want to come?”
“No thanks,” Twila looks over her shoulder. “I had a long day, I'm just gonna relax at home.”
The elder's twin nods, “Okay.” Elena left the bathroom, shutting the door behind her. Twila fell back to the bath and relaxed once again.

Hello Darling
Summary: (y/n) is the Salvatore younger sister and she is low key in love with with one of the originals. You know which one. That’s basically it.
Warnings: just harmless flirting
A/N: I’ve been in love with Kol Mikaelson for 3 days now. I’m being forced to watch vampire diaries with my mom and Kol and the rest of the original family are like the only reason I’m still watching it. Also I know the title isnot great but it’s what I could come up with so shut up.
Tumblr media
It had been a long week in mystic falls. Hell, it had been a long year. You had only moved back to your hometown after hearing rumors that your beloved older brothers were alive and living in the small town you grew up in after all these years. You had been told they were shot by stray bullets during a battle in 1864 when you were only 15. It had hurt, especially since shortly after that your father had died after an animal attacked him. About 4 years after the deaths of your family, you had a run in with a vampire that didn’t go too well. After that, you spent years traveling from city to city just enjoying your life as a vampire.
When you finally landed back in your home town looking for your brothers, you were shocked to see that they had fallen in love with the same girl. Not only that, but a human girl who seemed to be attracted to trouble. You never liked Elena Gilbert and she never seemed to like you. She had a problem with making everyone do things her way or no way, and she always seemed to take it personally when someone made a decision on their own. You hated that your brothers were in love with her and did anything and everything she said. You had quite the temper like your brothers and Elena had a tendency to draw out the worst from you; when your idiot brothers signed over the deed to their house to Elena and she didn’t invite you in, you nearly burnt down the whole city. You had been stuck living in a small apartment, not far from the mystic grill ever since.
You tried to stay out of their drama-- you were only in town because you were worried about your brothers. Stephan had gone off the rails and was only just now starting to fix things. You had though found unlikely allies in Matt Donovan and Jeremy Gilbert. You spent a lot of your free time drinking at the mystic grill and for a while both boys had worked there; though you would never admit this to them, you had begun to consider them friends. Matt didn’t like getting involved in the vampire drama either, and you found it refreshing. Jeremy understood what it is like to have your siblings try to control everything you do. Sadly, Jeremy had been forced to leave town by none other than Elena, and of course your brother helped, which only made it worse. You hated that they had compelled him to leave. It was wrong to make his decision for him and they knew it.
You had gone to the mystic grill bar for a couple drinks. You had been invited to a ball hosted by the Mikaelsons. You thought it was pretentious that someone in the 21st century would host a ball, but you had missed the elegance of old fashioned parties like you used to attend before becoming a vampire.
You were busy in your own thoughts when you heard Caroline Forbes walk through the doors. She seemed upset, but to be honest, you didn’t care. You noticed she was looking at someone by the bar. You recognized him easily, Klaus Mikaelson. Caroline seemed angry at him, and efore you knew it she was yelling at him and storming out the door. Klaus quickly followed behind.
It was only then that you noticed the man who had been sitting next to Klaus. You didn’t recognize him. He saw you staring across the room at him and he gave you a flirtatious wink. You looked away and rolled your eyes.
Your glass was empty and you decided to walk over to the bar to get another drink. You sat down and waited for the bartender. The young man you saw earlier approached you.
“Hello, darling,” he said, taking the seat next to you. “I couldn’t help but notice you staring earlier. Like what you see?”
To say you didn’t find him attractive would be a lie, but you could tell he was cocky and arrogant: exactly the kind of guy you don’t want to be around right now. Yet, there was something familiar about him. “Yeah, no, I’m not playing this game with you,” You said turning away from him.
He walked around you so you were facing him again. “What game are you referring to?”
“Oh you know, the one where you see me across the room and we flirt and we drink and you use that smooth arrogant accent to talk your way into my pants. That game.”
“Why, I would never. I merely wanted to buy a lovely lady such as yourself a drink!” You laughed at his mockery as it was obvious his intentions were not pure.. “I’m Kol, Kol Mikaelson.”
“(Y/n) Salvatore.”
“Oh, you're a Salvatore. I hear our brothers don’t get along very well,” You laughed, he obviously didn’t care about the drama between your two families.
“No, they really don’t.”
“I do hope that unlike our brothers , you have no interest in killing me,”
“No, Kol Mikealson, I have no interest in killing you or being apart of any of my brothers stupid plans.” You took a swig of your drink. To be honest you were jealous of all the time your brothers put into defeating the originals and protecting Elena. They had thought you were dead for over a hundred years and they didn’t even seem to care that you moved back to town. In fact, they seemed to only think of you as a problem these days. A threat to their precious Elena’s safety. It made you furious to even think about it, hence your day drinking. You set down your glass.
“Well then, in that case, (y/n) Salvatore, why don’t you be my date this evening to my mother’s ball? It would surely piss off both our brothers,” You basically laughed in his face, but Kol just smiled and stood there.
“You want me to be your date to your moms fancy ball? You don’t even know me,” You were completely lost. An over confident guy flirting at you while you're at the bar was typical, but a thousand year old vampire you don’t know asking you to go to a ball was more than strange.
“Oh come on, (y/n), it could be fun. I’ve been told I know how to have a good time. Though, that was in 1910. I might not be as fun as I used to be, but I’m sure I will work it out.” He leaned in closer to where you were sitting. You were staring him dead in the eyes now.
“It would piss off Stefan and Damon, and I’m still mad at them for brainwashing one of my only friends in this town. Sounds like it could be fun., but let’s be clear: this is not a real date. I am simply accompanying you to your mom’s party.”
“Well, I’ll take that as a yes, then. I’ll see you tonight (y/n),” He winked and walked to the door where his brother Klaus was standing. He seemed angry, like he was mad at Kol for talking to you. What could you expect? Your brothers hated Klaus, why wouldn’t he hate his own brother talking to you? You still had a hundred questions left for the young original. You hadn’t even been sure you wanted to go to the ball, let alone with a date. There were a hundred reasons as to why you should not go, but of the few things Kol had gotten right was that it would piss off your brothers, especially Damon. Besides, it could be fun.
To be continued...
@hellish-ramblings-of-an-emo thanks for all the help on this one. You’ve been such a kind friend and theirs no one else out there like you.
Update: You can find chapter two on my blog!

Debris: speculation and what we know so far about...
Bryan
The character is from Texas, has no siblings, and his parents are both alive.
He served in MARSOC (Marine Special Forces) in Afghanistan, where he was in a military prison in some capacity (officer or detainee unclear, but an alternate reality he's called a war criminal, so he's likely detained).
FWIW, I'm a little surprised that in an alternative reality Bryan wasn't a part of Influx. He shares a similar kind of backstory with Anson Ash.
He carries a baseball on the plane like a momento stress ball (1x03).
He eats...a lot, literally thinks with his stomach, seemingly indiscriminately (#you could just pull up a chair to the buffet). Stale Peeps, weeks old sandwiches, rewarmed burritos, anything from the minibar, etc. Maybe he was a smoker in the time before and it killed his sense of taste. Or he just has an iron stomach from his time on active duty. In any case, food seems to be his unconditional OTP. I request a GIF supercut.
He seems to know a bunch of field operatives (Lester, Sharon, John the ME, Muntz, Beck from containment) from various Orbital teams, perhaps even worked cases with a few, along with everyone in Maddox's office. He's very cordial so presumably he likes them, but in stark contrast at least half seem to decidedly dislike him with baiting antagonism, some openly hostile. Sharon: "why are you smirking at me Bryan?" Muntz, the Laghari lab tech: "I've come across plenty like you...men who play by their own rules." Beck: "They only send in the A-team when they want the agents to survive...easy for you to say, I'm the one who had to tell his wife". No wonder he feels a bit ostracized. Perhaps his reputation (impulsive?) proceeds him or perhaps he's been labeled an "unlucky" partner that misfortune follows so he gets kept at a distance?
The exception to the above seems to be Gary Garcia, the former scientist that helps hide George. May be former partners if the audio during credit rolls is any indication, and knows about Bryan's health / injections. They appear close. Perhaps because they share a mentality: both presumably injured in their line of work at Orbital, and they know what it means to have to rely on yourself.
When we meet Finola and Bryan, it seems like they've been working together for a few weeks, stateside at least (Finola's quote 1x02: Been here 3 weeks, feels like 3 years) and that he's had at least two Orbital partners prior, one (Julian / Jules) that died on duty, and the other creepy Dutch guy still living, Niels. How many more partners has he been through? Is it protocol that they get reassigned/shuffled so often to follow the debris, or so as not to form attachments "This job is about being alone, it's supposed to be...we're a blip in other people's lives", or does his personality not play well with others, like from the pilot when he tells Finola "it's been a long time since I've worked with somebody who's looked at me like another human being."
Also in 1x01 when Bryan says, "So are we now saying the debris pulled [Kieran] from the ground and added meat to his bones" and Finola says no, he was cremated, Bryan looks almost disappointed like he was momentarily more hopeful than pragmatic. At first I thought this was just a lead up to introducing the fact that George Jones was alive, but maybe another plot point is that Bryan has lost someone in duty he wants back.
He carries a picture in his front pocket of a woman with some Persian/ Farsi(?) or Urdu(?) written on the back. It's hard to tell by the script, it could be neither. When confronted by that, his clone says "I can't let it go." Old flame that was lost? Or a partner of a fallen service member killed in action —I've lost brothers— that he couldn't save (is that part of Bryan's dark guilt / grief)? Civilian casualty of a Marine mission? In the pilot when he tells Isla "you have to tell her how much you need her, I know from experience...You will not be able to forgive yourself if you don't" is Bryan thinking of this woman?
EDIT: considering the next episode is called "Asalah," which could be a woman's name, maybe that's part of the text on the back of the photo. Pure speculation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He counts on himself to be level and composed when it comes to his emotions and apologizes when he isn't. He loses that composure in the pilot when Isla talks about family therapy and fighting with her mother after Kieran's death: "I knew someone like her once." Was Bryan referring to himself, has he been through post-service therapy? Perhaps he developed a rift with his family or left home at an early age like she did?
Bryan would be great at pub trivia night. He always seems to have an odd fact ready about NASA tech, native legends, an article about a historical building that he read, Fleetwood PA, etc. He doesn't seem the type to keep facts on standby to impress, so perhaps he's a secret bibliophile even though Finola hassles him for not reading case files.
"Fin: Maybe we should run some more tests before we continue/ Bryan: I will cut bait if you want to / Fin; let's just look out for each other" 1x02 Bryan seems more cautious than impulsive, he does a good job of listening to Finola's concerns. Is that from experience? Did he get overconfident, mishandle debris, and get permanently injured, hence the frequent blood work and injections?
"This man saved my life." Why does Bryan trust Maddox implicitly? And when Maddox says in 1x07 "Investigate quietly. I want to keep the lights off. I don't want to lose anymore lives, Bryan, okay?" is that a word of warning specially for him? Does he have a body count? (see afforementioned question of frequent work partners turnover and having an unlucky reputation)
Bryan in protective of Finola when the CIA taps her apartment. It's the straw that turns his allegiance from his agency to his partner.
I still can't place why Bryan carries a baseball — it seems like it could be a red herring, but I can't get over the visual of Maddox playing catch with Dario and reading into it as some sort of surrogate bond — or why he has a chain around his neck (1x05). It's not service tags and probably not a ring, it's some kind of pendant: a large loop encircling a dull, perhaps tarnished, gray metallic disc. A patron saint? A piece of shrapnel? A piece of debris? Unclear, but it definitely has texture or an etching.
Top Bryan Quotes
"That's the job. Impossible." 1x01 Pilot
"We are supposed to be blips in these people's lives, not memories." 1x04 In Universe
"It's been a long time since I've worked with somebody who's looked at me like another human being." 1x01
"Zippo lighters, Pyrex glassware, Crayola crayons, and of course Peeps. Insane for peeps, cracklike...we owe the people of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania a great deal of gratitude and I am not afraid to say it." 1x02 You Are Not Alone
"I've been thinking, [about] Finola.. if MI6 knew her father was still alive they would take her out of here. We need to get home before this becomes an issue...this is going to affect her." 1x03 Solar Winds, when he's not sure how her father will affect her empathetic-based decision-making
Craig: "You hated the creepy Dutch guy." / Bryan: "He was adorable."
"Well, one of my tips for survival, Muntz, is always let the other guy touch the debris first." 1x03 So is that what happened to Garcia?
To Finola "I realize I tend to forget that there's still magic to discover in the world. But not you." 1x03
"There are things that you understand about life that I don't, and I respect that. But there are things that I know that you will not find very palatable...I am going to focus on the people that we're saving and not the ones that we can't." 1x04
"If we don't act, we might not be able to stop the terraforming. There's no way we're going to be able to win all these, and I know that every cell in your body right now is screaming for you to do what you think is right. I need you to go against that. I need you to trust me." 1x04
"Finola's capable. I trust her instincts." 1x08 Spaceman
"I'm running on sugar and coffee for the rest of the day" 1x07 You Can Call Her Caroline, but really isn't that Bryan everyday?
"When I tell you that I understand, it's not empty...I lost brothers. It destroys families. There are people who can help you with what you're going through right now...There is a way to get back from this pain. I was where you were, and the darkness almost ended me. And somebody put out his hand... I want to be there for you." 1x07
"I'm trying to get back to someone. It's very important to me." 1x09 Do You Know Icarus?

Bio!Mom Max Black Headcanons
Two Broke Girls x MLB crossover
Based on this
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Caroline's movie about her life story was starting production Caroline finally had the courage to tell Max how she felt
The two dated for 4 months before Max decided they should marry
Mostly because she's known Caroline for so long that she literally knows she wants her as her wife
They were going to elope but Caroline told her dad which ended with Max being told by Martin he wanted his princess to be properly married
Sophie helped with the wedding not caring about the price
Caroline and Max got married at the prison where Martin was in so that Martin can give away Caroline and watch her get married
Of course, the news and paparazzi got wind of it and so much to Max's annoyance, the wedding was live streamed
They decided to just add the other's last name instead of one taking the other's
Caroline wore this with her hair in small side braid
Tumblr media
Max wore this with her hair in a bun with a few curls framing her face.
Tumblr media
Earl walked Max down the "isle"
Martin fought the urge to cry seeing his only daughter get married
He was glad that it was Max really
After a year of being married Caroline quietly mumbled as they cuddled
"Do you think about having kids?"
After a bit of talking they decided to use a sperm donor although, her twin cousin Darcy was able to get Bruce Banner to use both Max and Caroline eggs and the sperm donor to make the baby
Caroline was the one to carry the baby
A month before the baby was born their business boomed because of Caroline's movie and they eventually had a good business
They have a baby girl who they name Marinette Cathy Channing-Black
She had Caroline's eyes and Max's hair
Of course, Sophie wants to be the godmother, but Max puts her foot down that it would most likely be her cousin
Much to Caroline's shock Tony Stark is their daughter's godfather
Pepper is her godmother
As Marinette grows up she likes to watch her mom bake
She learns Korean from her uncle Han
Earl babysits whenever her moms are busy
Earl is her grandpa who she and Max consider him her dad
The cupcake business rises and they're very successful
Caroline is glad they finally left the crappy apartment
Caroline eventually is told by her father that she has an uncle who lives in Paris
It's Gabriel Agreste
Caroline is an Agreste in her mother's side really
And that he's the half sibling of Audrey Bourgeois
Audrey made Andre take her last name
Basically making her a Bourgeois through her father
This is when Mari is 13 years old and they decide to expand the cupcake business to Paris, France
Marinette is both excited and annoyed to move mostly because she won't be around to annoy uncle Tony or any of the Avengers
Marinette was almost the spitting image of her mother Max from her pale complexion to her hair, but she had Caroline's eyes and physic
When they get to Paris Caroline sets a meeting with both Gabriel and Audrey
Of course the two are shocked at the news that they're related through marriage
The reason being because Caroline's mom is Gabriel's sister and Martin is Audrey's older half brother
Making both of them Marinette's great uncle/aunt
And basically making two certain blondes her cousins
As well a certain cousin of said one of the blondes
Marinette is a mix of both her moms
She's sweet but very sarcastic and just...kinda like Max
The small Channing-Black family live in a decent comfortable home, not too flashy
Audrey brings Chloé over and Chloé is shocked to hear she has relative, she's somewhat excited
And Chloé is just...shocked to find out she's related to Adrien, her Adrikins before smiling widely
Chloé actually isn't a bully, she acts like it in school to see how far the stupid teacher would let it go and after she's mean to the ones she was she informs the person on what she was doing so as they don't feel bad
Surprisingly it's a lot and she's getting annoyed that Ms. Bustier won't at least do shit
On the first day of school when the Akuma strikes, much to her surprise Chloé freezes and pees herself before shielding herself behind Mari
"This sounds oddly familiar," the ravenette says giggling before scowling, "hey!"
The akuma strikes before Chloé has a chance to introduce her cousins because Adrien couldn't make it
Mari doesn't get the ladybug miraculous bc she just moved
Doesn't stop Master Fu from giving her the Cat Miraculous
She names herself Chat de Ruelle, Alley Cat
She doesn't keep it a secret from her moms who instantly tells Tony who comes whenever he can to help her train
Her outfit as Chat is similar to Lady Noir but her curls are in a messy bun and her mask covers her whole face except her mouth
It also has body armor and spikes on her wrists, tail, and elbows
She got Caroline's clumsiness but mostly that she has things fall on her or anything really but shes's not overly clumsy
On the second day of school she meets Adrien and she and Chloé practically ambush him and tell him that they're related
This makes Adrien happy but is somewhat confused before Mari informs him on how so
Mari is basically done with Ms. Bustier on the first day, complains to her moms who basically storm into the classroom to give her a piece of their mind
Does not help that Chloé turned in the evidence to the school board
Ms. Bustier quits before being informed she is not allowed to teach at all anymore
Adrien does become friends with Nino but not with Alya since Mari sits behind Chloé and Sabrina
Mari only becomes friends with Nathaniel and Nino
As the 3 cousins hang out she basically takes them wherever and causes trouble to the delight of her mom Max and to Caroline's concern
Caroline, Max, and Amilie basically threaten Gabriel to treat Adrien better
Although, Caroline and Max instantly adopt him
Max, Mari's mom, told Adrien that he reminded her of those two Amish boys who stayed with them for a week at the apartment
Chestnut came too by the way
Adrien doesn't flirt with Chat while he is Mister Bug because they're bffs
Max's cupcake shop is outside the school because Caroline wanted Mari to go to Dupont
Alya and Lila Salt
Alya is never told by Mari what her last name is, she usually doesn't pay attention to anyone else's name once her name is called but Mari has told her cousins and friend when addressing her to go by Black
So to the rest of the class she's known as Marinette Black
So she of course doesn't get an interview with Mister Bug because Chat told him not to because she doesn't trust the girl, she screams of wanting to be famous no matter what
Alya doesn't care for cupcakes the audacity
When Lila comes around she speaks about being a family friend of the Channing family
Bad luck for her is that Max and Caroline came to drop of Marinette at school much to her embarrassment
And Max basically ripped the Rossi girl a new one not caring who watched
Alya is shocked to see THE Caroline Channing at school
"How do you know Caroline Channing and Max Black? The great cupcake bakers?!" she screeches to Mari
"I'd like it if you don't speak to our daughter that way Ms. Césaire, please? We don't tolerate harassment from tabloid reporters," Caroline says gently while Max eyes the glasses wearing girl
"D...daughter?" Alya stutters before glaring at Marinette who rolls her eyes
"You're looking at me as if I killed your dog, they're my moms. My whole name is Marinette Cathy Channing-Black."
Everyone in the class sort of new because they always went to the cupcake shop after school
Lila does try her shit but Mari shrugs her off
Lila tries to hang off of Adrien but both Caroline and Max shut that shit down and tell Gabriel to get a restraining order on the Rossi girl as well a threat of lawsuit
Might make more and make this Maribat really idk yet

Chapter Three| Little Hunter
Tumblr media
2009
“THE BATTLE OF WILLOW CREEK TOOK PLACE AT THE END OF THE WAR IN OUR VERY OWN MYSTIC FALLS. How many casualties resulted in this battle?.... Miss Bennett?" The history teacher says, boring the class to death.
It was Friday, and Athena couldn’t be happier. She didn’t care about the party and didn’t want to go but a certain blonde was forcing the girl to go. But, the way she saw it, was that it was an easy way to get free booze.
"Um… A lot? I'm not sure. But, like, a whole lot." Bonnie says, nodding, hoping it would please the man. Athena chuckles, looking down at her sketchbook. Today the girl wore a pink lace top - that Caroline got her -, black cargo pants with a belt buckle, a cropped jean jacket, and black tennis shoes. She was having a bad hair day, so the girl also had on a black bucket hat - one that she stole from her brother.
Tumblr media
"Cute becomes dumb in an instant, Miss Bennett.”
Athena scoffed at the man. No one particularly liked the man, especially when he was an asshole to anyone and everyone. Including the quiet kids. “Mister Donovan. Would you like to take this opportunity to overcome your jock stereotype?" The man says, turning to a laughing Matt.
"It's okay, Mr.Tanner. I'm cool with it." Matt says, getting laughs from the class.
"Athena? Surely, you can enlighten us about one of the town's most historical events, And not just the fictional greek gods and goddesses." Tanner says turning, to the girl that was still drawing in her sketchbook. "Gods and Goddesses history, I know. But this History is a bore, sorry." Athena says shrugging, carelessly.
"I was willing to be lenient last year for obvious reasons, Athena. But the personal excuses ended with summer break." Tanner says, making everyone go silent. The girl looks up from her book with a glare on her face. "Well-"
"There were three hundred and forty-six casualties, unless you're counting the local civilians." Stefan says, cutting the girl off making her friends sigh in relief. "That's correct, Mr...?" Tanner says, turning to the boy.
"Salvatore." Stefan says, nodding to the man. "Salvatore. Any relation to the original settlers here at Mystic Falls?" The man asks, curiously.
"Distant." Stefan says, almost hesitantly. The youngest female Gilbert picked up on it, and tilted her head at the boy. There was no reason to be hesitant, but the boy was. It was as if he was choosing his words wisely.
"Well, very good. Except, of course, there were no civilian casualties in this battle."
"Actually, there were twenty-seven, sir. Confederate soldiers fired on the church, believing it to be housing weapons. And they were wrong. It was a night of great loss. The founder's archives are in Civil Hall if you'd like to brush up on your facts Mr.Tanner." Stefan says, smartly. "Did Mr.Tanner just get Tannered?" Athena says laughing, as soon as those words left her mouth everyone seems to break and laugh along with the girl.

The moment Caroline and Athena parked, the blonde ditched the Gilbert girl and spoke to other people. Athena wasn’t too mad about it, since she didn’t feel like socializing at the moment. Instead the girl began looking around for the good booze.
"Where is all the good liquor when you need it." Athena says groaning to herself, straightening the jean jacket. She’d been wandering around looking in coolers, and no luck it was all beer. Not even the good kind, it was a cheap liquor.
"’Thena, hey." Tyler says, walking up to the girl. "Hey, Ty." Athena says, absentmindedly as she continued opening the group of coolers in front of her
"What are you up to?" Tyler says, looking down at the girl. Athena sighs standing up straight, and looks at the boy unamused. "Is that your way of asking if I'm okay?"
"A way is which I hope you won't bite my head off like everyone else?" Tyler says, hesitantly. "I won't if you point me to the good stuff," Athena says, smirking.
"This way my lady," Tyler says, walking her over to the coolers where Vicki is standing. "Hey, lady Donovan." Athena says, smirking at the girl.
"Hey, How-" Vicki starts.
"Don't start Vics. I actually like you. Don't make me want to rip your head off, too." Athena says, seeing vodka and other juices. The girl sees strawberry lemonade and sprite, and mixes the two and adds a larger portion of vodka. Athena hums, taking a sip from the solo cup, and nods to the two teens watching her. "I'm going to leave you, two. Don't do something I wouldn't do."
Athena didn’t feel like walking around the drunk teens, and decided to walk into the woods. Tyler and Vicki watch the girl’s body disappear into the darkness. The boy makes a mental note to tell Elena where the girl was.
"She's a lot off work." Tyler says, turning back to the female Donovan. "But you gotta love her."
The Gilbert girl let her feet guide her to the same spot she was earlier that week. The spot her father brought her two countless times. The same spot she met a stranger. Athena took a seat on a large rock, and drank what was in her cup in silence.
That silence was soon broken by a snap of a branch. Athena jumps up, spilling the contents of her cup on the ground from the shock. “Who’s there?”
Athena knew how stupid she sounded, like a white girl from a horror movie. But she couldn’t help it. Her question was somewhat answered, as the man from earlier that week walked into the moonlight. “Hello, stranger.” A man says, smirking at the green eyed girl.
“Oh, it’s the creep.” Athena says, rolling her eyes at the man, as she still had a cautious stance. “Scaring girls in the middle of the woods seems to be a normal thing for you.”
"Only the gorgeous, green eyed ones.” The man asks, looking the girl up and down. A smile grows on his lips hearing the girl scoff. “You know I never got your name.”
"You scream 'Stranger Danger' so I'm not gonna tell you." She says smiling, sarcastically at the man. "Will it help if I tell you mine?" The man asks, with a tilt of his head.
"How do I know you're not using a fake name?" She asks, making him laugh. "I'm Damon. Damon Salvatore." The man says smirking, holding his hand out for the girl to shake.
"Okay, now James Bond." Athena says rolling her eyes, downing what is left in her cup. "I said my name. I'd like yours." Damon says, stepping closer to the girl.
The girl sighs, and nods at the blue eyed man. "Athena Gilbert… You happen to be related to Stefan Salvatore?"
"Yes. My brother actually." Damon says, with a sigh of displeasure. "Nice, he apparently likes my sister and I need something on him." Athena says, straightening her jean jacket.
The man shakes his head chuckling, but nods nonetheless."Alright. Ask-"
"Jeremy!" They hear a yell. The voice sounded like Elena which worried and confused Athena.
"Uh.. I have to go." Athena says, turning to Damon. The man grabs onto the girl’s arms, stopping her from leaving. He looks into the girl’s angry, green eyes.
Athena frowns, and looks at the man confused as he spoke. "You never saw me. You came to look at the view, nothing else."
The girl pushed the man away from her. “What the hell, asshole!”
Damon looks at the girl in confusion, and is shocked that the compulsion didn’t work. The girl scoffs, rolling her eyes at the man. “You really shouldn’t go around manhandling girls like that. That’s a one way street to having a girl kick your ass.”
"Jeremy!"
Athena doesn’t say anything else, and runs in the direction of the yell. The girl ran, jumping over fallen branches, and moved branches out of her way. She sees Elena following their brother as he walks away from her. "Jeremy, where the hell are you going?" Elena says, looking down to not trip over anything.
"I don't wanna hear it." Jeremy yells angrily, looking back at the eldest Gilbert. The moment of distraction caused the boy to trip over a log and onto the ground. Athena runs faster, and stops abruptly beside her brother and sees a bleeding Vicki Donovan.
"Vicki? No." Jeremy says, looking down at the body below him. "Oh, my God, Vicki." Athena says with wide eyes.
Athena pushes her shock away, and jumps to help the girl. "Let's go. Jeremy pick her up, we need to help her."
"Somebody help!" Elena yells, as the three Gilberts break through the forest trees. Everyone turns to the three, and Matt Donovan runs towards them confused with Tyler right behind him. "Vicki? Vicki, what the hell?"
"What happened?" Matt asks, looking at the three Gilbert’s. "Someone, call an ambulance!" Athena yells, to no one in particular.
"Everybody back up. Give her space." Tyler says, pushing people away. "It's her neck. Something bit her. She's losing a lot of blood." Elena explains holding the girl's neck.
"Vicki, come on, open your eyes. Look at me." Matt says, to the girl. "They're on their way." Bonnie says, with her phone in her hand.
The minutes before the ambulance went by as a blur for Athena. Once the ambulance came the two youngest Gilberts sat on a bench in silence with Elena standing in front of them. Only breaking when Bonnie walked up to them. "Hey, we're gonna go get coffee and wait for news."
"I gotta take Jeremy and Athena home." Elena says, motioning to the two that sat on a bench.
"I'm right here." Athena says, throwing a rock at the girl’s feet. It went ignored, making the girl groan and her brother to laugh at her childish antics. The boy had his headphones in and was blasting music not wanting to hear anyone's voice at the moment, and when his sister moved sharkly it broke him from his thoughts.
Athena ignored the conversation going on between her sister and their best friend. She rested her head on her brother’s shoulder, and kicked her feet on the rocks below her feet.
"You okay? I called Jenna. She's on her way." Elena says, looking at her phone as Bonnie left. Athena ripped the headphone out of Jeremy’s ears, gaining his attention. “Bitch.” Jeremy says, hitting the girl’s thigh.
“Jerk.” Athena says, hitting the back of her brother’s head. The two began hitting each other, making their sister groan as she tried to stop the two from hurting each other. “Hey, stop it!”
The younger sibling sighs and takes a drink of the beer they grabbed in unison.
"Those people in uniforms? Last time I checked, they're the police.” Elena says, jokingly. She sighs watching her sibling ignore and down the beers, tossing the bottles into the metal barrels behind them.
“People are gonna stop giving you breaks, Jer. They just don't care anymore. They don't remember that our parents are dead. They've got their own lives to deal with. The rest of the world has moved on. You should try, too. And being a smartass and getting angry isn’t going to solve your problems, Athena."
"Says the girl who sits in the cemetery writing in her diary." Athena says sarcastically, looking at her sister with bored eyes. "Is that supposed to be you moving on?" Jeremy adds.
"Mom and Dad wouldn't have wanted this." Elena says, looking at the two. "Don't be so hypocritical, ‘Lena." Athena says, rolling her eyes.
The three made it home, Athena went straight to her room with Sirius. While she changed into sweatpants and a t-shirt, Sirius jumped onto the girl’s bed getting comfortable. Seeing the dog sleeping Athena opened her window and climbed out to the roof to look at the full moon above. "Elena says we need to move on… I hate it."
“You hate everything, little hunter." She says mocking, her father's deep voice. The girl then sighs, tiredly. "Yeah well I hate you the most. Leaving me in the place we call earth, more like hell."
"I feel like I'm dying more and more each day. I want to feel alive." Athena says, softly. She plays with her necklace trying to stop herself from getting angry. "I've lost you. I can't lose myself, either. But tonight feels different, I feel like I actually have hope. I... Just don't know what for."
Athena’s mind was racing, but she couldn’t concentrate on one thing. So, she sighed and looked down at her hands seeing the chipping black nail polish. She focuses on the thought of her mom painting her nails every weekend, and now she had to do it herself.
The girl sighs, and looks at the moon thinking of her father. "I love you… from our first war to our last."
