Carl Larsson (1853-1919, Swedish) ~ Ros och rygg (en flickrygg och en ros), 1906

Charlie Rose: Listen to this, I hate to read too much, but this is, it's almost like they've been reading your book. This is from the New York Times for Friday May 24. "Americans flunk science, a study finds."
"Less than half of American adults understand that the Earth orbits the Sun yearly, according to a basic science survey. Nevertheless, there is enthusiasm for research, except in some fields like genetic engineering and nuclear power that are viewed with suspicion.
Only about 25 percent of American adults got passing grades in a National Science Foundation survey of what people know about basic science and economics."
I mean, this is singing your song isn't it?
Carl Sagan: Well, it's certainly what I'm talking about in "Demon-Haunted World." My feeling, Charlie, is that it's not that pseudoscience and superstition and new-age so-called beliefs and fundamentalist zealotry are something new. They've been with us for as long as we've been human. But we live in an age based on science and technology with formidable technological powers.
Rose: Science and technology are propelling us forward at accelerating rates.
Sagan: That's right, and if we don't understand it - and by we, I mean the general public - if it's something that, oh I'm not good at that, I don't know anything about it, then who is making all the decisions about science and technology that are gonna determine what kind of future our children live in? Just some members of Congress? But there's no more than a handful of members of Congress with any background in science at all. And the Republican Congress has just abolished its own office of Technology Assessment, the organization that gave them bipartisan competent advice on science and technology. They say, we don't want to know don't tell us about science and technology.
Rose: Surprising because Gingrich is genuinely interested, I think.
Sagan: He is, no question.
Rose: ... you know out of his own intellectual curiosity. Does the President still have a science adviser, at the White House?
Sagan: He does, he does, John Given. And the Vice President is scientifically literate, yes.
Rose: He's well known for being scientifically-- a science maven. I mean, you blast them all. Creationists, Christian Scientists who you say would rather allow their children to suffer than give them insulin or antibiotics. Astrologers come in for particular scorn on your part.
Sagan: Well, I wouldn't say scorn, just derision.
Rose: A more generous version of scorn. But what's the danger of all this? I mean, you know, this is not the thing--
Sagan: There's two kinds of dangers. One is what I just talked about, that we've arranged a society based on science and technology in which nobody understands anything about science and technology. And this combustible mixture of ignorance and power, sooner or later, is gonna blow up in our faces. I mean, who is running the science and technology in a democracy, if the people don't know anything about it.
And the second reason that I'm worried about this is that science is more than a body of knowledge. It's a way of thinking, a way of skeptically interrogating the universe with a fine understanding of human fallibility. If we are not able to ask skeptical questions, to interrogate those who tell us that something is true, to be skeptical of those in authority, then we're up for grabs for the next charlatan, political or religious, who comes ambling along. It's a thing that Jefferson laid great stress on. It wasn't enough, he said, to enshrine some rights in a constitution or a bill of rights. The people had to be educated and they had to practice their skepticism and their education. Otherwise, we don't run the government, the government runs us.

Blue streak! Speeds by! Doodles of hedgehogs! 🎶 Here's a big ol' roundup of the 40 Sonic character doodles I've made this year. I may not play many Sonic games nowadays, but the world and characters are still very endearing to me. 🦔💨💨

You know, I haven’t really seen that many stories of crazy Carl taking in A mobian beside maybe one story so here my take. Although my first choice for mobian that crazy Carl would take in would be sticks for obvious reasons but since Amy is more likely to be in the films (hopefully), then sticks, I’m gonna go with her.(maybe he could adopt sticks too)
Context:
Since everyone knows about Sonic, plus the gang, Tom has insisted that Carl take down any traps he still has in the forest. Carl begrudgingly agrees to take down the more dangerous traps he placed. Despite him still being a little salty That Sonic drove him crazy for years trying to expose sonic and his paranoia of something else being out there he doesn’t want to risk hurting the blue little guy or his friends.
During one of his late night searches for the last of his traps, he discovers that he was right that something else was out there. Unfortunately, that something got injured in one of his traps. Another hedgehog like sonic but pink and a girl.
Feeling extremely guilty he decides to take in the pink hedgehog just until she’s healed up. Carl carefully releases the pink hedgehog from the trap and patches her up until tomorrow so he can take her to Maddie(who proceeds to chew him out the next day).
Over time they develop a genuine bond between each (they have a grandpa and granddaughter relationship ) despite Amy later learning the trap was Carl’s.
Carl goes from “she’s just staying until she heals up” to “ if anything happens to her, I will kill everyone in this room, and then myself.”
Maybe after a couple of weeks Maddie and Carl deems she ready enough to meet Sonic and the gang since Amy has healed up enough, and she’s less skittish compared to day one. Ever since Maddie told Sonic about the other hedgehog, he's been dying to meet her. Unfortunately for him living with crazy Carl her idea of the blue devil has been secured a bit. So while Amy greets tails and knuckles with warmness and kindness she greets sonic with the cold shoulder.
She tells him that she doesn’t like hedgehogs, who like to bully poor old men. Turns out, Amy wasn’t too fond of finding out that Sonic has been messing with Carl for years to the point that the whole town thought he was crazy. Sonic tries to convince her otherwise, but Amy isn’t having it.
Cue Carl wheezing in the background, while Sonic begs Carl to clear things up with Amy.
Thankfully Carl decides to clear things up after letting sonic squirm for a bit (revenge).
Amy is a bit nicer to him after that but she warns him not to mess with her gramps.

Tugboat Annie
New Yorkers were enduring the dog days of August, and those who couldn’t escape the heat by fleeing to the country or the beach could find cool respite at the movies. August 19, 1933 cover by Gardner Rea. It was doubtless in an air-conditioned theatre where critic John Mosher enjoyed the craft of older actors, in this case Wallace Beery and Marie Dressler in Tugboat Annie. Although the film…

It’s Fine Press Friday!
Today we’re taking a closer look at some of Indianapolis-based artist Carl Pope’s (b. 1961 ) work—a portfolio of broadsides produced for the installation series The Bad Air Smelled of Roses. The edition in our collection consists of 71 letterpress prints of varying dimensions (all around 56 x 36 cm) produced with wood type at York Show Prints in York, Alabama (formerly run by Amos Paul Kennedy, whose works are also represented in our collection) and Tribune Showprint in Earl Park, Indiana (“the oldest continuously operating letterpress shop in the country”) on poster and chip board between 2004-2005, nearly all of which are signed by the artist.
Pope characterizes the work, which has grown since its original iteration to include 108 posters, as “an ongoing essay about the presence and function of Blackness in society” and an exploration of the "various psychological and emotional states like forgetfulness, insanity, alienation" associated with "the poetics of Blackness." He chose to present a selection of texts drawn from a variety of sources including “modern Black literature, René Descartes, jazz and rap music, Sigmund Freud, Malcolm X, Dolly Parton, movie dialogue from Casablanca and The Matrix...” in letterpress print form because of the medium’s historical associations with marketing and political activism.
When installed in the rarified context of an art gallery or museum, as this series has now been exhibited on numerous occasions, the commercial qualities of Pope’s posters incite a productive slippage in our assumptions around high and low culture. As he puts it in a 2018 interview with Hyperallergic, “I don’t see culture as the production of beautiful paintings and works of art, you know, although culture includes that. For me the production of progressive culture is the collaborative practice with myself and other people in the world of ideals, to create and to advance human evolution... I’m not interested in using art as a tool for cultural imperialism.”

(i’m sorry but i cant, they deserve better) however i am able to write cheating or abuse if asked but only if it ends with a happy ending and reader does not end up with abuser/cheater. Or if there was a mistake(miscommunication when it comes to the cheating)
-If a character is part of the Lgbtq+ community i will not pair them with a gender they don’t like romantically (like Ian Gallagher x fem reader but i can do GN reader). This doesn’t mean i won’t write sibling or platonic reader for that person
