In 2004, when Remus spends two scary weeks in the ITU due to complications of pneumonia and his HIV condition, Sirius walks around the house like a ghost and Harry finds comfort and strength in Draco through a chat in an online LGBT forum. Harry falls for him, but Draco has a lot of secrets and, before long, will need to come clean—even if he believes that no one is able to understand a dragon.
This is a story about falling in love online and about facing the reality of death, but above all, this is a story about hope, finding love and acceptance. (Non-magical / bookshop AU, written for the 25 days of Drarry 2020)

Excerpt:
“When we met in the forum, I was hopeless,” he goes on, fingers holding tight now. “I thought no one would ever love me or care for me anymore. But then you were there, talking about your godfather Moony, about how scared you were of losing him,” Draco’s voice waivers a bit. He takes a shaky breath. “About how much you loved him, even though—”
His voice catches in the back of his throat and Harry holds his hand tighter, pulling him in back here, now, in the car, in his hands.
“Even though he is HIV-positive.” Draco says.
He takes a long breath.
Harry wonders. And maybe—
“I met you when my head was still full of prejudices and myths and fear and I was so bloody afraid of being lonely, Harry.”
Harry sees Draco’s face transforming in front of him, and there’s this deep sadness that always accompanied Draco from the moment Harry met him. But this time, Harry can see it with his own eyes, how Draco’s eyes look sorrowful and cold and scared and lost.
So bloody lost.
“Harry, I’m...I-I’m—” His lips tremble and his eyes go wet and Harry watches transfixed as a tear slides down Draco’s cheek and he shuts his eyes firmly.
Lost.
Afraid.
Full of self-loathing.
Scared of not being loved.
And it clicks.
Because Harry has lived his whole life surrounded by different kinds of people with these same struggles and fears. He was raised by a man that fought everyday against the constant disgust and discrimination thrown at him.
Harry watched first-hand how slurs and offences were spat at Remus, how his own teachers have been concerned sometimes about Harry being raised by a HIV-positive gay man.
He wonders how he hasn’t noticed before.
Draco’s eyes are closed, his lips pressed in a tight line and his shoulders shaking lightly.
Harry sees him. Truly. For who he is, for the fears he has, for the life he’s been grieving after for all these months.
He understands, finally. Even without the words being said.
But he needs to hear it.
Harry moves, taking Draco’s face in both his hands, drying the tears with the pads of his thumbs and coaching Draco’s face up.
“Look at me, Draco,” he asks with a gentle voice. “ Please , look at my bright green eyes and say it. Trust me,” Harry pleads.
Draco’s eyes open—they look strikingly bright. He licks his lips and sniffs softly. He lifts his hands and takes hold of Harry’s wrists—not aggressively, not to move him away, just holding on, holding still, keeping himself grounded.
Draco takes a deep shaky breath. The rims of his eyes are damp and reddened. He blinks twice and then looks at Harry firmly, his hold on Harry’s wrists goes tighter. His jaw works and he swallows, licking his lips softly.
(*reccers note - there is a spoiler from the fic under the cut. I often post the Drarry first kiss as my recs. I don’t think this takes away from the fic at all. You may feel differently. If you decide to read further that is your choice.)
“I’m HIV-positive, Harry.”
Draco’s voice is not shaking this time. It’s clear and louder than before. Resolute.
Harry nods, feeling resolute himself.
“Thanks for telling me, Draco.” His voice doesn’t waiver either.
Their gaze holds, with intense emotion and spoken truth.
And Harry understands.
The low self-esteem.
The depression.
The weight loss.
The pain.
The shame.
The sadness.
The fears.
The lies .
Harry really understands.
“Draco, I’m going to kiss you now,” Harry warns, a second before he moves forward and presses their lips together.

"Hollywood rabble rouser"
Late one night in the summer of 2008, I found what turned out to be a stockbroker’s iPhone in the back of a NYC taxi. Turning it on in order to contact the owner, I noticed that amongst the stock watch apps and currency converters was an icon of Gordon Gekko, the corrupt market raider immortalized by Michael Douglas in Wall Street, Oliver Stone’s 1987 tale of insider trading and corporate excess. Intrigued, I hit Gekko’s pixilated face (it felt good) and a website flashed up with an entire transcription of his infamous “Greed is good” speech — one of Hollywood’s most iconic parables to the pursuit of unrestrained greed. Whoever owned the phone found those words as important as checking Facebook or texting his girlfriend. Gekko was his hero, his daily inspiration.
Watching back Wall Street a few weeks later as news of the Lehman Brothers collapse and global recession spread, it struck me that a whole generation of financiers must have grown up, like Charlie Sheen’s character Bud Fox, yearning to be Gekko. He was the business equivalent of a rapper wanting to become Tony Montana, another Stone creation. And some of these brokers, as we’ve all since discovered, were willing to trade money that didn’t exist in pursuit of pin stripe suits, corner offices, penthouses, boats, women, and stacks of cash. Perhaps the perks made the 22-year prison stretch Gekko received at the end of the film seem like a viable risk. Or they deliberately chose to ignore his downfall.
Inspired by financial fiends like Bernie Madoff, Stone decided to spring Gekko out of prison for Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps. Set in 2008, he is a reformed character that tries, and fails, to warn business leaders of the impending credit crunch. Many fans are understandably nervous about Douglas reprising his Oscar winning role, especially since his hair gel and brick phone have long been put into storage. Stone, who only agreed to direct the film because he felt that current financial climate lent itself to a sequel, understandably feels that it’s time for bankers to grow up. As the director of Natural Born Killers, JFK and Platoon he’s used to Marmite reactions. But, after giving Dubya an easy ride in W, will Gordon 2.0 be one step too far? Is the world ready for goody Gekko two shoes? Or will traders across Wall Street be deleting their “Greed is good” iPhone bookmarks forever? As they say on the stock market floor, let the bull charge.
Tim Noakes: When you were 18 your father got you to work on a financial exchange in France. Was that your inspiration for Wall Street?
Oliver Stone: No, it was a great summer job actually, because it was very exotic. My father was always into the stock market, into numbers. He loved that world in New York and I grew up on the fringes of it but I wasn’t particularly attuned to it. So it was a chance to see it first hand but I didn’t do very well as a trader. In those days you’d run from the phone booth in the back to the floor. It was cocoa and sugar. It was violent and busy. They used to elbow each other to get into the inner circle, like matadors. It was a real crush. I elbowed my way through it and got up to be assistant buyer, which was very complicated because you had to make the orders for everything right. You couldn’t screw up. A lot of money’s involved. So then I thought I should be one of the cocoa buyers. I was a little too ambitious for my own good.
Your father died before you made Wall Street. What do you think he would have made of it?
I think he would have appreciated that I had done a business movie. We always talked about it. He loved movies and he took me to them. We discussed them afterwards, which was an invaluable experience, and he would say that there weren’t many business movies. And there weren’t. There was not a specific genre. Hollywood was not into the business movie concept. It’s hard. I can understand why. It’s all financial talk, it’s not interesting to most people and it lacks those human emotions. Money is an interesting subject, however, for America. That’s why I addressed it in 1987. I thought, ‘Americans love money’, and what lengths they will go to get it is what that movie is about. Especially coming off Platoon, which is a different kind of movie. I was trying to prove that I could do something domestic with ‘Wall Street’.
The original was very much of its era.
It was the era of “Greed is good” and Reagan. With Wall Street 2, I’m obviously more mature, I’ve done more films, I have more confidence, I hope. I’m trying something a little bit deeper in the relationship field. There’s no Darryl Hannah in the movie. There’s a real English girl this time (Carey Mulligan). She anchors strongly the emotions of the film, because she is damaged. She’s the daughter of Gordon Gekko, if you can imagine what that can be like.
Michael Douglas once said that your style of directing is like taking people into the trenches. What did he mean by that?
He makes it sound like I dress him up in uniform and have a military hierarchy. Every single actor that I’ve worked with, and there’s obviously dozens now, you’d have to talk to every single one of them to get their perception. I would say some would disagree. Maybe Michael, because he hasn’t been in the military, would regard it as a military experience. I didn’t think of it that way. I think of a movie as an organisation that has to work at a very fluid pace involving a large amount of people who have to move quickly over a landscape. Call that what you will. It could be an adventure party or a military organisation. It’s really a satellite business. You form, you group, you rehearse, you shoot, you separate. It’s very nomadic. In that chemistry you bring together so many conflicting types of people who have different kinds of egos. It’s quite a mix. At the end of the day, if you look back at the — what is it? 19, 20 films — that I’ve directed, it’s just a mix of styles. Sometimes it really works with people. It clicks. I think Michael did great work on both films, so I’m very pleased with his result. My style might not have been good for him, but it works for other people. Some people, like Shia LaBeouf and Josh Brolin, were digging it. They loved the way I worked because it was intense and to the point and relatively fast.
Do you see yourself as a hard taskmaster or a disciplinarian?
No, I’m not a disciplinarian. I’m disciplined with myself and I think I try to lead by example not by imposition of my will. I try to lead by example. That’s just to say that people know that I’m trying to get this thing done. My approach is that we’re all in this together. The idea is king. We all serve that king. It is not a democracy, it is a constitutional monarchy, so to speak, with strong legislative power in the House of Lords. No, but the idea is king. I repeat that. Not the director. The idea. I serve the idea.
How do you balance the logistics with trying to create a piece of art?
Oh boy, if I didn’t tell you I wasn’t humbled so many times, you would not believe it. It’s a very humbling experience to make a movie, because you’re at the mercy of the elements. Of the winds and the weather as well as conditions that can go wrong — disease, sickness, bad tempers. All sorts of stuff can happen. Given that nature, to pull off a movie is extremely difficult. The editing room is another humiliation. All your mistakes are thrown back in your face. No matter how many good choices you make, and making a movie involves thousands of choices, you’re constantly having to question yourself again. I find it a very difficult position. I don’t think I enjoy it. I think I’m more experienced at it but I don’t think I completely enjoy it. I think sometimes it’s so painful you want to scream bloody murder and run somewhere.
What’s the cut-off point? How do you stop?
How do you stop? A famous director once said that every film is abandoned, never finished.
So you just let it go?
Some people won’t but I do let it go. I’m not looking for perfection. I don’t believe in it. I believe that a film is many things to many people and it changes over time. I think you have to feel good about it and about what you did. It hangs together and it’s going to be a story that can move an audience. It’s so difficult to pull off quickly. It takes time.
The world’s moved on since Wall Street. Were you apprehensive about creating a sequel to such a well-loved film?
Apprehensions? No. I’d have had more apprehensions if I’d had to do it in 1990, I think. Twenty-three years is a long time to call it a sequel. I think of it more as a bookend.
Don’t you think that’s laying you open for even more criticism? Look at what George Lucas did with Star Wars..
We’re not going back into that period. The beauty of this thing is that there’s a new period upon us, which is quite different, technically. It’s a different kind of Wall Street. The landscape has changed. It’s no longer 1987. It’s really a computer game now. The money has accelerated at a square root that is beyond belief from millions to billions. Hedge funds invest 30–40 billion dollars. Even to have one billion dollars is an enormous amount of money. When you hear these guys say, “Oh, it’s just a billion dollar hedge fund” it’s unbelievable arrogance. The heights are dizzying, and the losses are dizzying. It’s just unbelievable what happened. By all accounts it was a near-fatal heart-attack.
Were you planning on revisiting Wall Street is the crisis hadn’t happened?
No, that was the catalyst for it. It wasn’t the only reason. It was a wonderful idea for a script, that Gekko would be a different type of person. That he would start from the outside. He didn’t have power or connections anymore. Time had passed. He was dated.
Is Michael Douglas in danger of becoming a pastiche of what made Gordon Gekko good?
I feared that. That’s why we approached it in a wholly different way. Michael is playing it twenty-two years older, he’s coming out of prison. Michael has changed in that interim. He was a charming rogue, certainly, in the Eighties. You saw a lot of that in his subsequent performances. You saw a lot of Gekko in later films, so I think it was smart to move away from that pastiche, as you call it, because it would have been boring after a while. There are flashes of the old Gekko, which I love, but it’s not like the charming reptile, so to speak. It’s a different man now. I’m not saying that he’s a wholly reformed figure looking for a martyrhood, but what’s interesting about him is what he’s going to do, and how he’s going to play the game to get back. He has suffered extensively in prison, his family has fallen apart, his oldest son has committed suicide. It’s very tough on him.
How did you persuade Michael to get back on board?
Frankly, I didn’t convince anybody. I passed on the script in 2006. It wasn’t important for me to make it. I felt, what was the need to make this movie if it was going to glorify the pigs on Wall Street? They were really making money and it was ugly. There was a spate of books too like The Wolf of Wall Street, which was a big hit and they are going to make a movie out of that. There was kind of a surfeit and there was sickliness to it all. I got turned off by it. I passed, and I moved on with my life, and I did W and World Trade Centre and stuff like that. Then there was this crash and the crash changed the equation I think, I hope.
Do you think the original message of Wall Street failed because young traders ended up idolising Gordon Gekko?
That’s a very good question. Frankly, I wondered at times. The original Wall Street came about because of my experiences on Scarface. I was living in New York and I was hanging out with the dealers and the mob. That whole scene in Miami was a very shocking thing in 1982–3. Wall Street, was like Scarface north. I was suddenly seeing people my age, in their twenties, making millions of dollars, so easily, so quickly. Moving inordinate amounts of money. Also, snorting and drinking. The partying scene had really kicked in big time in the 80s. It was all new to me, so that’s how that was born. Then it went to excess. But I was very clear that Gekko was the antagonist in the movie, but as you say a lot of young people caught on to him. I do think, and perhaps I’m retrograde, that although he was not feted at the time the anchor of the movie is Charlie Sheen.
But no-one wanted to be Bud Fox.
Well that’s the movies. They want to be heroes. They want to make money. I did meet a lot of people in their 40s that said, “When I saw your movie I was studying this-or-that at this-or-that school, I was going to do history or medicine or law but then I saw the movie and I moved to Wall Street for that reason.” The the kicker was that some of them were multi-millionaires, one of them was a billionaire, and they had moved to Wall Street because of the movie. I said, “Oh boy, I wish I had a royalty on that.” These guys are really rich.
I find that quite worrying.
I gave birth to some rich people. But some of them did good. Some of them created something. That was the whole point of the original. Not to shit on Wall Street but to basically say, ‘Look, this is an engine of capitalism’. This can work. My father always felt that Wall Street was a good thing. It creates companies, it finances new companies, creates research and development, and it does. It still does, by the way, it’s not forgotten but it’s been buried in the greater picture of making bigger profits and more greed, but it’s still there. Wall Street is a good thing. It was a good thing and it can be a good thing.
Throughout your career critics have said you shouldn’t glamourise the people you put on the big screen. Do you like to provoke that reaction?
No, I like to make bigger-than-life characters but ‘World Trade Centre’ is about two very ordinary men who were real heroes. On Bush I guess you could say I supped with the devil and brought out all the reasons I thought why people voted for the guy. There is this fundamental thing which Americans like in him, and I was trying to root that out and how he became President.
You were criticised for making Bush too likeable.
You can fault that, but he was re-elected. I didn’t like him. I was very clear — I empathised. Empathy means I walked in his shoes, or tried to. As opposed to sympathised. I don’t agree with anything he said. Anything. I think he was a disaster. It was a nightmare eight years.
Do you think you were too soft?
No. I wish I’d done it a year earlier and it would have been more timely. He was out of favour when it came out, because of the economy, but frankly the movie was about the national security state which concerned me more.
Why are you drawn to these anti-heroes?
They don’t do me any good. Nixon, too.
I see a lot of similarities between Tony Montana and Gordon Gekko. In Scarface, Tony says “You need people like me to point the finger at and say, ‘That’s the bad guy’”. Do you think film critics see you in that light?
I think you’re right. I think film critics have me as a punch ball. It’s an easy target, I guess. I’ve been misidentified with the characters, but I think over time you see that there’s a whole assortment of different characters. But I agree, I think that’s true and I think that’s hurt me. It’s hurt my career as well as some of the political statements I’ve made and positions I’ve taken in documentaries I’ve made. They’ve hurt me too and they’ve given me a profile that’s not necessarily me, it’s just a profile. Absolutely.
There’s been huge furor recently that you’re reported to be attempting to humanise Hitler, Stalin and Mao Zedong.
I think it’s out of context. I did use the word ‘scapegoat’ and I think that was an unfortunate word, but frankly it’s a very interesting history that we’re putting together. We’re using the facts that we have, that are known but have been forgotten. There’s no question that Hitler had a big hand up the ladder. He didn’t come out of nowhere. He is a Frankenstein, he is a monster and I have no sympathy for him, but he was created by a Dr Frankenstein. That Dr Frankenstein is a very interesting mixture and you have to study cause and effect to understand history, otherwise you don’t learn anything from it. It’s my fault because I’m interested in the world, and I’m willing to go out there. I’m not trying to provoke, I’m trying to look for the truth. I’m trying to shine a light. For Christ’s sake, I feel like we’ve become so politically correct that you can’t do shit anymore. You’re not supposed to turn around.
Do you feel like you sometimes exploit sensitive subjects too much? More than some people can take?
Well, that’s why I like the English. They’re much more out there and they’re willing to explore subjects that the Americans are not. Having been to war, having seen the devastation America visited onto Vietnam, I cannot just be another typical American and live in isolation. My taxes are going as we speak to blowing up people in Afghanistan. I don’t feel good about that.
Back to Wall Street. Gekko says “Every dream has its price”, what’s the biggest price you’ve paid to get to where you are?
I’d have to talk to my psychotherapist, who I haven’t seen in ages. I suppose the price is that you do have long absences from home and normal quotidian values, at times. Your children grow up and you have to readapt to the fact that you haven’t been the attentive father. That’s a big issue, but I have been as attentive as I can be in taking care of them. Still, there’s gaps there. Divorces have happened. Those things.
I see Wall Street as epitomising the ruthlessness of the Eighties. During that era did you find yourself being a slave to the success that you had earned?
Yeah, I suppose everybody can become a mental slave to the need to produce. Remember, I was on a roll in the sense that I had to get financing for very complicated movies. I felt like I had a mission. To get JFK made in that era was very tough, still. You need heat. To make that movie after The Doors you need to keep rolling. In a sense I worked very fast, and hard, but I knew that I could get things done. Nixon was sort of the end of the line. I was making movies all those years. Platoon was impossible to get made. So was Salvador. Every single fucking one. ‘The Doors’. They were always problems. There were always tremendous issues. You asked what the price is? The price was to keep going fast, before they change their mind. The idea was ‘Wrap it up, get another one done’. These are tough subject matters. With ‘Nixon’ I’d done eleven or ten, I was exhausted. Frankly, I needed to take a break.
What kept you moving on? Obviously the pressures that you’re talking about manifested in different ways. You had your drug problems earlier on, but how did it manifest when the financing started to crumble down? Did you resort to those kind of vices?
I think there’s other factors. There was a lot of living. A lot of pain. Children. Divorces. This and that. But I think I have been very successful. I got movies made that wouldn’t have been done in the normal radar. They were not on the scope.
In Wall Street 2 Shia LeBeouf says, “No matter how much money you make, you’ll never be rich”. With all your success, do you empathise with that sentiment?
Of course I do. I don’t think money is the solution to happiness. Life is complicated, but certainly money can have the opposite effect. It can make you unsatisfied with life, and make life harder for you. There are two effects of it. One is that it leaves you unsatisfied, you always want more, as we see from these billionaires. Two, it leaves you falsely content and over-satisfied.
And you’re not either?
I don’t feel that way, no. I feel like I’m one trade away from disaster.
The new film is called Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps. What gets you off to sleep?
What gets me off to sleep? Sonata. Medication. I’m just joking. The best solution for sleep is having lived a full day and tried hard to live life fully. That makes you feel the reward of sleep.

[Carewyn had secretly been very glad to cut her meeting with Penny and Beatrice short. After losing Jacob again and realizing that what she’d thought would be the end of a long road was really just the start of something even more dangerous, she really wasn’t in any mood to try to comfort Beatrice. Things were more dangerous now -- and even if Carewyn could put on a stoic face, she knew it was her responsibility to fix things. It didn’t help matters when Penny was talking about her own relief about being reunited with Beatrice -- Penny had realized her error quickly and apologized, and she’d even tried to comfort Carewyn about what had happened with Jacob...but Carewyn simply dismissed her concern with a reassuring smile and put an end to the conversation with the excuse that she needed to go visit Merula.]
I’m sorry, Penny...but I just can’t listen to you talking about how relieved you are. I can’t look at you and Beatrice together. Not right now...
[Carewyn entered the Hospital Wing and immediately made a beeline for the school nurse, who was standing by the cabinet at the far end.]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Oh...she’s resting, then.”
Madame Pomfrey: “On the contrary.”
[Out the corner of her eye Carewyn saw something flying through the air right at her head. She ducked out of the way, just barely missing a clipboard that slammed into the cabinet behind her.]
Tumblr media
Merula: “I WANT TO LEAVE!”
[Carewyn couldn’t see Merula, as she was no doubt in one of the beds further down, but her old rival’s voice was a vocal barrage of frustration and anger.]
Madame Pomfrey: “As you can see, Miss Snyde has quite the temper -- and a good arm.”
[As Carewyn straightened up, her lips pursed critically.]
“...Let me guess -- she’s throwing a tantrum because she doesn’t want to be taken care of.”
It’s not like I liked Merula looking so broken and sad...but this is just stupid.
[Madame Pomfrey nodded.]
Madame Pomfrey: “Ordinarily I wouldn’t use this level of patience with my...patients...but after being struck by the Cruciatus Curse, I really don’t think she should be moving too much.”
[Carewyn’s eyes narrowed slightly.]
“May I see her?”
Madame Pomfrey: “Yes -- as long as you’re prepared to duck at a moment’s notice.”
[The school nurse walked Carewyn down the row of beds to the one Merula was lying down on. Like before, she showed no physical injury, but she looked incredibly restless.]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Carewyn frowned deeply.]
“You know I’m not going to do that, Merula. If Madame Pomfrey says you should rest, then you should listen to her.”
Madame Pomfrey: “Well, I’m glad someone is talking sense. I’ll leave you to your visit, Miss Cromwell -- and Miss Snyde, behave yourself.”
[Madame Pomfrey turned and left the two girls alone.]
Tumblr media
[Carewyn crossed her arms, slipping seamlessly into “Mom” mode.]
“I’m sorry, Merula, but if Madame Pomfrey doesn’t think you should be exerting yourself, then you should slow down. The Cruciatus Curse is serious. The last time I saw Rakepick use it, the guy couldn’t even stand or talk -- and back then, Rakepick said she wasn’t even going full-force like she was with you.”
[Carewyn’s eyes narrowed, but this time it only served to make them softer.]
“...And...I know how much Rakepick meant to you. However much pain that curse caused you...it could only have been worse, coming from her.”
[Merula looked away, feigning carelessness.]
Merula: “It’s not a big deal. I’ve gotten over it. I mean, we broke the Portrait Curse anyway, didn’t we?”
[Carewyn’s lip twitched irritably.]
“Merula, come on...haven’t we gotten past this already? If you’re honest, it’ll be a lot easier to address the problem.”
Merula: “There’s nothing to address. We all went through a lot. We all were betrayed by Rakepick. But I’m over it.”
“Merula, nobody would be fine after what you went through -- so stop pretending.”
[Merula straightened up slightly, her pink eyes suddenly boring into Carewyn’s.]
Merula: “I’m pretending?”
[Carewyn was taken back by the intensity in her expression. There was anger, but one colder and quieter than before.]
Merula: “I’m pretending? Who do you think you are, saying something like that? You, of all people. Don’t think I’ve forgotten what you said to your brother in the Vault, Cromwell -- how you only ever wanted to save him, and you didn’t even care about Rakepick or the Vaults...”
Don’t you dare bring that up -- I don’t want to even think about you having seen me like that --
[Carewyn felt her face flushing slightly, but she kept her voice very level.]
“I already told you that was all I’d wanted.”
Merula: “And yet I bet you’ve been running around trying to get everyone else to talk about their feelings rather than take your own damn advice. Why aren’t you resting, Cromwell? I noticed you’re still limping a little on your ankle -- haven’t taken the time to fix that, even though you went to the trouble of changing clothes and cleaning up your make-up and hair?”
[Carewyn stiffened, her eyes hardening visibly.]
I changed clothes because I hated looking at them. I fixed my make-up because it’d gotten smudged from me crying. It’s not like I could’ve looked like a mess when Dumbledore called me to his office. And I...I can’t rest. I don’t have the right to rest, as long as R is out there and you all are in danger. It’s my fault you all got roped into this. If it weren’t for me...you wouldn’t have been hurt.
[Despite her convictions, she didn’t have the heart to articulate any of her feelings into words.
Merula didn’t look surprised by Carewyn’s stoic expression or the lack of a response, but she didn’t take any joy from it either.]
Merula: “You remember what I told you back in the Great Hall, don’t you -- when we first transported back?”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Carewyn considered Merula for a long moment. Then she exhaled quietly through her nose, her eyes drifting away.]
“...Fine. If you want me to back off...then I will.”
I can’t force you to accept my help. And really...do I even need to hear how you feel? I already know it. I guess I just thought it would help you, to get those feelings out...
[Merula’s words echoed in her head again.
“I’m pretending? Who do you think you are, saying something like that?”]
Well, it’s not like I have any other choice! I’m the one person who can’t fall apart -- not when everyone’s in so much danger, when I’m in so much danger --
[Rakepick’s words in the Vault returned to her.
“You can’t stop R! We’re too powerful!”]
I can’t show weakness. Not now.
Merula: “If you’re backing off, going away now would be a good start.”
[Carewyn was startled out of her thoughts by the bluntness of Merula’s tone. Noticing her irritated and offended expression, Merula reacted defensively.]
Merula: “What? I said it nicely...”
[Careyn gave her a beady look.]
“That was nicely?”
Maybe I should find you a thesaurus bookmarked to the word.
[Merula was distracted, however, by Ben dashing up to the two of them.]
Merula: “Why hello, Copper -- have you come to try to get me to talk about my feelings too?”
Tumblr media
[Carewyn’s eyebrows furrowed in concern.]
“What is it?”
Tumblr media
((OOC: Dang, Merula, actually calling my girl out on some of her crap?? Who would’ve thunk it... o.o;;
Also, love the new dance move, Carey. XDD))

15 and 29! I love your blog so much, I have it bookmarked on my phone to scroll through on the train.
:’) that’s so nice, omg. thank u for the compliment! i made this because it was hard to find a community that supported my lgbtq+ AND adhd identities, and it makes me so happy to hear that others find that thru this blog. that really means a lot! and thank u for the ask game!! :)
15. what’s the best thing about liking girls?
i like being able to relate as a human being who was also raised as a girl. there’s a sense of kindred there, and an allyship against oppression/discrimination that men won’t ever fully understand. not bashing on different gender relationships at all though, they have their own nuances that i as a gay person won’t understand, either.
the community is just so nice, and it’s a lot easier to connect over shared experiences. also have you seen girls??? they’re just so nice.
29. who’s your favorite fictional wlw?
UGH this is hard, mostly because I haven’t found too many that I get really passionate about. At the end of the day I have to hand it to Bubbline (Princess Bubblegum and Marceline from Adventure Time), but I also really like Carey and Killian from The Adventure Zone :)

So I’m at my sister’s bday party which I’m not.... really loving because I’m not into the club scene. But I opened your fic to read the last chapter and wtf man I’m literally crying in the club. I’ve just recently got into hockey rpf and Jonny/Pat are my favorite pairing- you write some of the best stories I’ve read about that pair! Also do you have an fic recommendations for a new hockey rpf fan?
Aaaaah, first of all, that is amazing. I’m so happy this story was able to bring you to tears in the middle of a club. I hope your sister knows how awesome her party ended up being. :D
Second, I am so happy that you’ve found this fandom! I have SO MANY RECOMMENDATIONS – so many, in fact, that I’m going to list them after the break, because I got a little carried away. (Maybe more than a little. There’s...a lot to choose from.)
Jonny/Patrick
A classic, the pairing that defined this fandom, my all-time favorite. I personally love writing them because of the depth that’s been given their characters across the massive amounts of stories out there. Not that I need to sell you on them. :) Here are a few of my faves, though it’s so hard to choose:
Learning Curve by demotu – I’m not digging deep here. Everything by demotu is awesome, and everyone knows it. :) I was torn between this one and Tympani, so you should read both if you haven’t already, and also just, you know, everything.
Prise de Fer by altri_uccelli – definitely read everything by her (especially the Walls ‘verse/remix and Just Maybe), but this one I keep coming back to. I didn’t think I was particularly into Regency AUs until this story, and yet!
This Heart Is Not For Wasting by fourfreedoms – and, you know, most things by fourfreedoms. There’s a trend emerging here.
Bye Bye Blackhawk by jedusaur – apparently I’m a total sucker for Patrick Kane not being a hockey player and then BEING A SURPRISE AMAZING HOCKEY PLAYER. See also: Patrick 'Showtime’ Kane.
a light-handed approach to regulation by hazel – one of the first a/b/o fics I loved and still one of my favorites. Again, shockingly, hazel is someone it’s worth reading a lot of.
I’ve Got a Feeling (Hope You’re Feeling It Too) by aohatsu – such good werewolves! And aohatsu is awesome and you should read Learning As We Go and 22 also everything else by her, too.
I Got a Love (That Keeps Me Waiting) by svmadelyn – sigh, I’m super not digging deep here, because so many of these are the highest kudos’d stories in the fandom. What can I say? The fandom sorts well. But svmadelyn is another author to read everything by! Just go ahead and assume that for everyone on this list, probably.
bring it if you really want it by staraflur – the Harry Potter AU! So good.
break me in by thundersquall – possibly this is not your kink but IT’S TOTALLY MY KINK.
Banned by Vitula – ah, Patrick and Jonny flirting online when they don’t even know each other in real life. :D
Twist in my Sobriety by jezziejay – again, so hard to choose!. I think this is my favorite of hers, but don’t hold me to it.
Shot right through with a bolt of blue by mermaid – love me some magical realism + angst.
Okay, I could go on forever, but let’s move on to…
Tyler/Jamie
My second love. My favorite thing about them is how (at least as I see them) they have perfectly opposing insecurities: Jamie thinks he’s not flashy enough, fun enough, hot enough for someone like Tyler, and Tyler things he’s not solid and good and worthy enough for someone like Jamie. But then it turns out they’re crazy about each other. :D
Door to Door by Ferritin4 – hahaha I am making THE OPPOSITE OF DEEP CUTS HERE but this story is just so good. So good.
the other thing by cornfields – my very favorite exploration of homophobia anywhere. ANYWHERE. It’s not light, but it’s so worth it.
gonna have to ask about by ferrassie – sigh, again, I am choosing the most obvious stories but only because they’re amazing.
untitled seguin/benn a/b/o ficlet by Rest – this super short but also I love it.
Sink These Roots Deep by LadyJanelly – everything by LadyJanelly is amazing. See also: Twelve Moons and Salvage (which is a Mad Max AU and SERIOUSLY THE MOST AMAZING).
…I was going to add the one where Jamie wishes his soulmate were more original and then he wishes his soulmate were Tyler Seguin, but I can’t find it??? SOMEONE MUST HELP ME IF THIS HAS BEEN DELETED.
Hallsy/Ebs
Kind of retro at this point but aaaaah I love them so much. Here are my favorites:
make lots of noise by maleyka – in making this list, I discovered that I have multiple favorite Hallsy/Ebs fics in which Hallsy is a girl. Hmmmm.
love today (anyway you want to) by daisysusan – the other fic I love where Hallsy is a girl, grouped for your convenience!
You and I (Will Be Young Forever) by ChibiRHM – ah, teh cuteness.
Still After All These Years by hapakitsune – aaaaah this is so angst-ridden and SO GOOD.
Baby, Let’s Play House by doctor_denmark – in which there’s a baby and they don’t know which of theirs it is!!!
my head’s in the game (but my heart’s in the song) by ten_miles_til_midnight – yes, that is a title from High School Musical. What can I say– these two were made for high school AUs.
Other pairings
...Okay, so I kind of wimped out when it came to making extensive rec lists for other pairings. Mostly the problem is that I don’t know them well enough– I have over 1,000(!!) hockey bookmarks, because I have no bookmark discretion, and I can’t remember which are the most important stories for those pairings. But I did want to highlight a few stories/pairings:
Mitch/Auston – there are SO many stories being written about them right now, so definitely worth checking out the tag. I read dozens of stories about them last fall and can’t remember which ones I liked best, but I do know that torch this place we know by theundiagnosable is awesome.
Willy/Latts – I haven’t read as much for them, but I have to give a HUGE SHOUTOUT to Out of play, out of competition by thenorthface, which I have read, oh, only a BILLION times. Apparently Michael Latta going on The Bachelor is my one true love.
P.K./Carey – somewhat of the past now that P.K. is on the Preds, but there are some fantastic stories for them. I did actually reread a bunch of them in making this list (tragedy, my life is so difficult) and was surprised by the concentration of excellent tropes: for example, Any Wish You Want by Ferritin4 and grace under pressure by gdgdbaby both feature Carey getting hit by some kind of sex magic; in the time you took to get this far by TheDukeofAvon and harder hit by gdgdbaby and oopsohdear make excellent use of amnesia; and then there’s age ain’t nothing but a number by 7iris, where Carey Price gets deaged and okay I’m stopping now but the point is, don’t sleep on P.K. and Carey.
There are so many more. THERE ARE SO MANY MORE. I couldn’t even pick for Connor McDavid/Dylan Strome and Alex Galchenyuk/Brendan Gallagher and Danny Briere/Claude Giroux because I would have had to reread everything and it’s already taken me like four days to put together a response to your ask and I have it on good authority that I’m supposed to be doing other things with my life. And then there’s the treasure trove that is Sid/Geno, which, for reasons I do not understand, I have never been able to get into, but you probably should because there are so many stories written by such excellent people.
So. That’s it for now. (heaves huge sigh, wipes sweat off brow) If other people want to fill in the horrible omissions I have no doubt made, they should definitely do so!

TAZ Fic Recs
I’m bad at keeping bookmarks or remembering titles or remembering authors’ names, so I’m keeping my TAZ recs in a post instead! There are TONS of great fics in this fandom, and here’s a surely incomplete list of some that brought me particular joy.
Newest additions to the list are at the top, last updated February 2020.
Hey hey, marry me Barry by @qpenguin98 - rated Teen and Up
If you want to just be emotionally shattered by romance in really lovely and positive ways, please read this fic. This might be my favorite Blupjeans story I’ve ever read. It’s beautiful, it’s skillfully and subtly written, it has great emotional payoff, and I cried a LOT. I don’t want to give too much description of the plot because it was really impactful going in blind, but it’s all about Barry and the rest of Lup’s family ganging up to make her (and themselves) really happy, and it’s beautiful.
because that’s what love is (equivalent exchange) by teacuptaako - rated Teen and Up
This fic broke me a little. It’s Barry’s POV on the Starblaster, getting to know everyone, falling in love with Lup, and trying to figure out Taako. This is a FAB outside perspective on Taako’s weird outer layers of personality. Plus Barry is just such a good dude, it’s impossible to not love this trip inside his head!
Dumb Interspecies Relations series by nah_tho - rated Explicit
If you’re into Taako and Brad Bradson, well, you’ve probably already read this series? But if you haven’t, DO. What starts out as a fun sexy romp gets plotty and full of worldbuilding, Taako is a fantastic mess, and Brad is trying real hard. This series is hilarious, hot, sometimes suspenseful, and the final story made me cry.
got a license to kill (and you know I’m going straight for your heart) by @hoothootmotherf-ckers - rated Teen and Up
THIS FIC WAS MY GIFT IN THE 2019 TAZ CANDLENIGHTS GIFT EXCHANGE, I STILL CANNOT BELIEVE IT. It’s so wonderful!! A multi-chapter assassin AU with some coffee shop and fake relationship in there too, unbelievable. Lup is a badass. Barry is adorable. They love each other, and also get shot at, and also fight Big Pharma. Please go read it, srsly.
After the War by theauthoress - Not Rated
This fic took a twist I haven’t seen before, and I loved it! Dredging up some good angst from Taako’s past and then from Kravitz’s, it delivers a punch and then soothes you again with some good sibling stuff. I don’t want to say more and give away the surprise, but if you like some Taakitz hurt/comfort, do check this one out.
Apogee by @charmandhex - rated Teen and Up
I admit, I am one of those who think Taako won’t ever forgive Lucretia, but that they can be civil again, and maybe even friends. This fic captures that so beautifully, how much history there is between them that neither of them can escape. It’s lovely, and Taako is baller, and I read it twice in a row.
you know, elf practice series by @anonymousalchemist - rated from General to Teen and Up
Yet another one that I can’t believe I didn’t already have on this list. I know the elf practice thing as a meme has mostly vanished into the tumblr ether, but these two fics are on my mind always. They’re just so unusual, and the kind of creepy that’s treated as matter-of-fact (which is the best kind of creepy). What if elves had to, you know, practice? To become elves? Just thinking about it gives me a shiver, I love this fairycore take on Taako and Lup and their upbringing.
the kid, the future forthcoming by @anonymousalchemist - rated Teen and Up
Seriously, how did I not have this on my list already, I reread it all the time! It’s so incredibly hard to make second person work, and this fic really works. It’s a short and compelling vignette of young Taako’s life, and young Taako-and-Lup’s life, and the difficulties of a scrappy teenhood. It’s a little heartbreaking, and full of perfect moments that I think about a lot. Also, tiny Barry cameo that gives me so many feels! Also also, just...the mood of it is so good, the inside-of-Taako’s-head feeling, wonderful.
Taking the dogs home by Anonymous - rated Mature
What an extremely quiet and beautiful story! Set after Story and Song, at Magnus’ house in an almost dreamlike country woods setting. Taako shows up out of the blue, perhaps escaping a problem he won’t discuss, and falls back into Magnus’ small town routine. There’s a lot of subtly layered domesticity and realistic, compelling Taagnus feeling. Also, a dog!
Heads/Tails by unprofessionalbard - rated Teen and Up
Short and powerful! I loved this fic. A really well-characterized look at Taako and Kravitz, and how their jobs and their personal lives intersect and interfere with each other. I don’t want to give anything away because it unfolds really precisely, I think, so--just go read it! It’s awesome.
and at a certain age the child is grown by bimaukery - rated Teen and Up
This is a really beautiful, bittersweet modern AU. The IPRE family move into Angus’ grandpa’s house, while Angus is still there, and he can’t understand why. He watches them, tries in small ways to interact with them--as they try to figure out what to do about the little ghost haunting their new house. Honestly, go read this and cry over it for a while, it’s lovely.
The Shrike and the Thorn by JoyfullyyoursDav ( @keplercryptids ) - rated Teen and Up
If you haven’t had enough of crying about Taako and Lup, here’s a great fic for you. That Good Sibling Shit, flashbacks, memory loss, beautiful conversations, just...everything I could want in a lovely little package. Also, PLEASE check out this author’s other stories, so many great ones!
(when i think about you) flowers grow out of my grave by @phantomsteed - rated Teen and Up
This Taakitz fic is one of my fav kinds of modern AU: Taako works in a flower shop, Krav is a mortician, they meet cute and fall in love! The ensemble are all there in the background, including a very adorable Angus and a soon-to-be-married Carey and Killian, but what really got me about this is the gentle and steady way our favorite boys fall in love. There are also SUPER lovely illustrations by @karinhart sprinkled throughout!
a fool for lesser things by himemiyaa - rated Teen and Up
This fic charmed the PANTS off me, and made me teary to boot. Taako and Kravitz are new roommates in this community college AU (and, surprise, they end up together). I love the way Taako slowly opens up in this story, to Kravitz, to the community of friends Lup has built that he’s been keeping himself outside of, and especially to Garyl the cat. It feels so real, and like a reminder to myself to be more vulnerable in my own life! Please go read this, it will lift your spirits.
Among the Ruins by @distractedkat - rated Teen and Up
I don’t know how I went so long without finding this fic, and then for a little while I resisted because I wasn’t sure about the description. Finally over the weekend I read the whole thing in a sitting, and I’m SO glad I did. It’s fantastic!! This AU reimagines the canon if Taako’s time post-Sizzle It Up had gone differently. What follows from that is an engrossing and plausible version of events with lots of action, lots of funny lines, lots of feelings, and lots more Lup! There’s a little angst, a lot of twins and Taakitz goodness, and a wonderfully happy ending. If you’re looking for something nice and long to dive into, definitely try this one.
Angus McDonald and the Flight of the Flying V by @mystery-moose - rated Teen and Up
This was one of the first fics I read in this fandom, before I thought to keep track of things I liked or bookmark them to find them again. Then it turned up in @marywhal‘s rec list, and I was overjoyed to find it again! As the rest of this list will show, I have a special weakness for stories about Taako as Angus’ guardian, and this one really shaped my headcanons about their relationship. In the main portion of the story, a grown-up Angus with his own detective agency is working a case--with a bored and lonely Taako’s help. Interspersed with the mystery are flashbacks to their time on the road as Sizzle it Up with Taako and Company, achingly soft glimpses of Angus’ post-finale childhood as Taako and Kravitz’s sort-of-son. I think it was finished before the actual finale aired, so it isn’t entirely canon-compliant, but it captures the same tone beautifully.
i will buy the flower shop by @weatheredlaw - rated Teen and Up
I saved this fic for an emotionally rainy day, because I had a feeling it would brighten things up. It absolutely did! A modern restaurant AU with all the necessary found family feelings, and all of our favorite characters with lives that aren’t perfect but that get better with communication and vulnerability and persistent joy. If you’re looking for something poignant and satisfying, something to lighten a bad day, this fic is an excellent choice.
Taako and Hurley’s Maximum Fun Drive by detectivelion - rated Teen and Up
WHAT A ROMP! If you’re longing to get back to the high speed action of battlewagon racing, this is the fic to read. Set after the Day of Story and Song, the whole crew (Hurley and Sloane included, of course) face off in a madcap race that really recaptured the spirit of Petals to the Metal for me.
Bureau of Badass ( @bureauofbadass ) by @chemicallywrit  and @miceenscene  - rated Teen and Up
This fic almost feels too obvious to rec, and yet I can’t not. SUCH AN ENGROSSING READ! Take all your favorite characters, stick them in the 90′s, give them attitude and relatable problems, and put them on skates--then you’ve got this roller derby AU. I don’t even know what else to say about it, because if that doesn’t make you want to read it, nothing will. As of this writing it’s a WIP, but there are over 100 chapters extant to read and only a few more yet to come!
and the warmth will never die by Junkyard_Rose - rated Teen and Up
This is an extraordinary fic. It’s a modern setting AU in which Taako and Lup were separated as kids and have made lives for themselves while searching for each other, which is wonderful all by itself. What stands out about this one, though, is the non-chronological way it’s told. Every chapter gives little glimpses into the pasts and presents of both twins, sometimes the same events from different angles, revealing a tiny bit of new information each time. I never found it confusing, just extremely interesting and vibrant, and SO emotionally satisfying in the last few chapters! The prose is beautiful too, sometimes I read it aloud to myself!
songs for revelations by @weatheredlaw  - rated Mature
So many of weatheredlaw’s fics wreck me in a variety of ways, but this one is maybe my favorite. It only has two chapters so far, but it’s SO EVOCATIVE and unusual and sometimes I just sit and think about it and wonder what will happen next. It’s the soft-apocalypse-adjacent AU I didn’t know I needed. Or, if you want to get fucked up by something finished, try their series all the way across the universe!
Bury the Lead by @marywhal - rated Teen and Up
Such a brilliant story! High school AUs are hard to do well, I think, and this is one of the best. It’s an ensemble story but from Taako’s POV, filled with extremely relatable versions of all the characters we know and love. There’s newspaper nerdery, wicked cool language stuff, and a million great moments that made me laugh, or cry, or both. Even if you don’t like AUs, I urge you to try this one!
Patterns of Migration by goodnicepeople - rated Teen and Up
Let me preface this by saying that I really want to put EVERYTHING by this author on my list. Their stories are all incredible, soft and beautiful and painful in good ways. It was hard to choose a favorite to list here, but this one is really special and elegantly crafted. It follows Angus and Magnus as child and parent, a progression over time as Angus grows up and Magnus slows down. In later chapters the addition of Taako to the dynamic produces some really lovely scenes, and also some very sad scenes--I cried a TON reading it.
Angus McDonald and the Case of the Mysterious Butter Wyvern by yassan - rated General Audiences
This is one of the funniest fics I’ve read in this fandom so far, and one of the closest in tone to the actual show. THB plus Angus is a great equation no matter what they’re doing, but when they’re shopping for a birthday present for the Director it takes on a whole new level of crazy.
what can the harvest hope for by lagaudiere - rated Teen and Up
I think this is the first story on this list from Kravitz’s POV, and it’s GREAT. Full of great Reaper Squad interactions and marvelous Taakitz scenes, alternating with a really interesting, sometimes a little creepy, examination of John Hunger in the Eternal Stockade. If you’re into gray-area redemption stories and Kravitz being wonderful, then this is for you.
Oh have you seen my ghost? by greenglowsgold - rated Mature
Let me say first: if abuse or assault with intent to rape are triggering for you, you’ll probably want to give this one a pass. If that’s not an issue, then this is an excellently written and heart-hurting story about Taako’s past with Sazed, as seen through an unexpected and dangerous encounter. It’s beautifully subtle, and the last few lines legit broke my heart.
Reverie - by ltdominic - rated Teen and Up
Update: Reverie is finished! And it’s so beautiful, everything the first chapter hinted it would be. It’s one of my favorite themes, fucked-up Taako recovering from losing memories and getting them back. It’s painful and lovely, featuring a family who can see that something is wrong but can’t quite fix it, intermingled with backstory flashbacks. This story really captures the day to day struggle; there’s a crisis, and improvement, but there’s no perfectly happy ending.
“Cute, but still fucked up.” - by writersstareoutwindows - rated General Audiences
If you’re looking for a short and sweet pick-me-up in your day, this is it! The author drops you into a pitch-perfect and adorable scene between Taako, Lup, and Angus. They’ve captured a teasing-but-loving dynamic between the three that made me grin like a lunatic.
Taste Test (They Were Delicious) - by @marywhal - rated Teen and Up
Another moving and wonderful Taako-centric fic, made up of a series of vignettes set from the Starblaster years onward. Each section features a different meal (with a recipe, which is exciting), and a beautifully-written glimpse into Taako’s relationships. Lup features heavily, as one might guess, but the real through line is Lucretia, who poignantly bookends the story.
it takes a village - series by neverwinter ( @nxymxrjr ) - ratings range from General to Mature
This series is a modern AU full of extremely beautiful and moving found family interactions, told mostly from Angus’ point of view, and heavily featuring Taako as his legal guardian. You will notice if you read through this rec list that Taako and Angus as flawed-father-figure-and-son is MY FAVORITE THING, and this author does it so, so well. There’s some good parenting, some good sibling stuff with Taako and Lup, lovely Taakitz romance, and frequent cameos by the rest of the TAZ family. None of the stories in the series are explicit so far, but mind the tags for things like mental health issues, past abuse, and blood. Also, DEFINITELY check out their other TAZ stories!
with a pace and fury defiant - by redqueentheory - rated Mature
This author explores Taako’s inner life post-finale and the darker emotions that could follow that glorious happy ending. When he locates Kalen, he and Merle plan a road/camping trip with Magnus as cover and set off to avenge Julia. It’s beautifully written, sometimes painfully emotive (in a good way), and describes so much of what I headcanon about Taako’s feelings and how he deals with them that it’s like the author was reading my mind. It’s WONDERFUL (but check the tags, there is some violence). Do check out their other work as well, especially if you are into Bradko!
running into the sun (but i’m running behind) - by @quillyfied - rated General Audiences
Set between Crystal Kingdom and 11th Hour, this is a fantastic THB bonding fic! The bubble cannon breaks and strands the boys in the middle of the Faerun countryside, forcing them into a road trip that alternates wonderfully between sweet moments, drama from the past coming back to bite them, and very funny goofs. Their voices feel really in character to me, and the tone of this story is light enough that it could be a bonus episode of the show. I absolutely loved it, and I reread it all the time! Also, if you are a Davenchurch fan, definitely read i have loved the stars too fondly.
Wizard of Fortune - series by @fiercebadrabbit - rated General Audiences
This author has resisted the temptation to make Taako a Reaper when he dies--instead, he becomes a servant of Istus, creating a unique, beautiful, fascinating version of the far future in the Balance universe. I LOVE IT, so so much. Taako’s unusual personality shines through in all of his interactions, viewed through the eyes of the strangers who benefit from the hand of Fate. The writing has a lovely, mystical feel, which is a style I adore! This author has also written some very charming Taakitz, so check that out as well.
UPDATE: When fiercebadrabbit asked for ficlet requests, I excitedly asked for more Taako as a servant of Istus--and got THIS WONDERFUL GEM in reply! Go read it for excellent sibling sass!
through the days you will dream of losing me and losing you - by @androidsfighting - rated Teen and Up
I love stories about memory, and this one BREAKS ME every time I read it. An exceptionally written look at Taako after the finale and how he recovers (or doesn’t) from the effects of the Voidfish. There’s some really excellent Taako and Lup scenes, some great Barry, some great Lucretia, and lots of very visceral prose about remembering and forgetting and the confusion in between. It’s fairly short, but packs a powerful punch. I feel like this is both the fic I’ve wanted since hearing the finale and also the fic I’ve been trying to write since finishing the finale, so it’s both perfect and intimidating!
Luster - by @lsunnyc - rated Mature
This one is a WIP, but nearly done and worth the wait! After the finale, Taako is abducted from the train on a business trip to Goldcliff. The story alternates between Taako’s perspective, imprisoned but viciously determined to escape, and the rest of the TAZ family trying frantically to track him down when they realize he never made it to his destination. It’s SO DAMN GOOD YOU GUYS. Taako is very in character here and his intelligence and power really shine under stress; the worldbuilding of the “prison” where he’s trapped is also precise and fantastic. Every day that this fic has an update is a Good Day for me. Keep an eye on the tags though, there’s some carefully written dubcon.
Our own, soft hearts - series by @wildgoosery - ratings range from Teen to Explicit
If you, like me, longed to hear more of Taako and Kravitz on dates, then this series is your antidote! They’re so in character, and they’re so in love, and their every interaction is so wonderful. This fic really brings me joy, and also is sexy as hell. Also, the most recent installment is a wonderfully drawn fan comic! The author’s other work is also sexy and great, do check it out!
<3 If you’ve made it all the way to the bottom of this list and want even more fic to read, may I humbly suggest mine? Mostly about Taako, light touches of angst, and hopefully prose that approaches the wonderfulness of the stories I’ve recced here.

The Piano by shushu_yaoi_lj @orange-peony
He arrives on a boat during a particularly stormy day. Harry knew Astoria Greengrass had sent for a husband, someone to keep her company on the particularly dreary and dark winter days on this remote island. Harry didn’t know who it was she had arranged to be sent here. All he knew was that the weather was horrid today, and the Portkeys had never properly worked in this remote corner of the North Sea. The island was special, its magic working in odd and surprising ways. Rec Post
Turn From Stone by harryromper @harryromper
Something happened in the hours after the final battle, after the evacuation of the living and the dead. As the last of the survivors left the castle, and as the castle itself turned its wounded back on them all. The loss of Hogwarts has been felt by their entire community. And it’s something that needs to be put right. Harry knows there’s nothing he can do to stop Hermione (war hero, historian, author of the reissued “Hogwarts: A History”) once she sets her mind to something. Even an extremely risky last-ditch effort to restore the ancient castle and lay its newest ghosts to rest. What he wasn’t counting on was her insistence that Draco Malfoy be part of the plan. Stalking Harry by orphan_account
Harry Potter is the most eligible bachelor in the Wizarding world. Draco Malfoy is a disgraced ex-Death Eater with emotional baggage and a bit of a crush.
Through His Eyes (I Am Set Free)  by  Shewhxmustnxtbenamed @shewhomustnotbenamed
Harry and Draco have a telepathic connection that remains unexplained in both the Muggle and wizarding worlds. Draco is assigned a mission by Voldemort to locate and capture the Boy Who Lived-- the trouble is that they don't know anything about him. While Draco struggles to gather information on this mysteriously absent hero, he and Harry start communicating again for the first time since they were kids. Harry continues life as normal until he discovers information which compels him to abandon his ordinary Muggle life with the endeavor to rescue and emancipate his only friend-- even if that means bartering with his own life.
A Private Reason for This by Femme (femmequixotic) @femmequixotic
When the wife of a star politician in the Scottish Ministry turns up dead just outside Hogsmeade, Draco Malfoy and his murder investigation team are called in from the Edinburgh Auror force to find her killer. What DCI Malfoy doesn't expect, however, is to have an ex from two decades past end up in his murder room, endangering not only his case, but also his heart.
Consequences of Redemption by bobbirose @ominousflags
When Draco makes an impromptu decision to rescue Harry Potter from Malfoy Manor, the two find themselves completely alone and facing the looming climax of the war against Voldemort. Harry must start from the beginning with Draco--and starting over has more consequences than either of them anticipated.

What’s So Trendy About Twinning Popsugar That Everyone Went Crazy Over It? | Twinning Popsugar
About two abnormal afore bottomward a selfie in PopSugar’s Twinning app, a web app that generates your celebrity look-alike based on a user-uploaded selfie, I hesitated. “I assignment for a tech website,” I said to myself. “I apperceive bigger than this.” But in the end, my admiration to assert my affinity for Troye Sivan won out over my admiration to defended my aloofness online. And I got let bottomward on both accounts.
Techcrunch baldheaded that—big shocker!—the selfies users uploaded to the Twinning app were about attainable in an Amazon Web Services accumulator bucket. All you bare to admission these pics was cipher you could calmly acquisition on the Twinning website itself. And above that, a simple Google chase will appearance you a cardinal of matches (including some of children), so you can be the adjudicator of these (definitely incorrect) after-effects yourself.
But would I be so agitated about this if it absolutely twinned me with Troye Sivan? Probably not. Instead, this app says I’m a 78 percent bout with Leelee Sobieski (who?), a 26.6 percent bout with my longtime celebrity drove Carey Mulligan, and didn’t alike account Troye as an option! Seriously?!
Maybe these matches are based mostly on the affinity of our noses, as one of my accompany appropriate to me. I assumption my face is weirdly angular like Leelee’s, and I’m albino and beautiful like Carey, but it’s the alone acknowledgment that I can anticipate of to aftermath such an abuse to my Troye-ish looks. PopSugar, will you affiance to alone aperture pictures of my adenoids back acutely that’s the alone affair your algorithm acclimated to accomplish this match?
Beyond this abuse to my Troye Sivan-hood (and, you know, that aloofness breach), the twinning app continues to bolster the racism inherent in facial acceptance AI: our customer tech anchorman Victoria Song was accustomed the aforementioned South Korean extra as two out of the bristles lookalikes it pulled for her.
What database is PopSugar alike application to accomplish these matches? It charge be appealing crappy, because that it mislabeled one of Victoria’s matches, advertence a photo of French extra Catherine Deneuve as “Catherine Chen,” who, on aboriginal Google search, is absolutely a 19-year-old American actress. Hmm!
Look, I’m anxious about my agenda aloofness about as abundant as the boilerplate being who spends a lot of time

do you know of any movies or music ddl likes?
Thank you anon for sending this question back. I think I mayhave accidentally deleted the first ask since I couldn’t find it in my drafts or myqueue and for that I am so sorry. I love this question because it gives me the opportunityto do some research and discover/rediscover many things about him. However thistask turned out to be harder than I thought since my memory is blurry, mybookmarking system is messy and DDL’s retirement news pretty much drowned many specific articles that I’m looking for.
MOVIES
Daniel Day-Lewis is a film fanatic. He loves wandering intoa cinema and taking pot luck with whatever is on (I laughed whenever peopletweeted they thought they just saw DDL queued behind them at movies). He loves even bad movies and likes to analyze thework of actors past and present. However, I don’t think I’ve ever seen the listof his favorite films although he always talks passionately about thosewhose work he most admires like Montgomery Clift and Charles Laughton. So I gatheredsome pieces from his interviews and articles and hopefully it will give yousome insight into what kind of films DDL likes.
He is intrigued by all kinds of performances.
DDL reveres the greats likeMarlon Brando and Robert De Niro. He dislikes John Wayne, loves Gary Cooper andprefers the Jimmy Stewart of Capra’s classic pictures to the Stewart of AnthonyMann’s westerns.
He saw Taxi Driver at least five times when it firstcame out.
In 1976, when he was 19,Daniel Day-Lewis saw Taxi Driver.
“It was a real illumination. Isaw Taxi Driver five or six times in the first week, and I was astonished byits sheer visceral beauty. I just kept going back – I didn’t know America, butthat was a glimpse of what America might be, and I realised that, contrary toexpectation, I wanted to tell American stories.”
He is fascinated by Clint Eastwood.
“I used to go to all-nightscreenings of his movies. I’d stagger out at 5 in the morning, trying to beloose-limbed and mean and taciturn.”
Ken Loach is the biggest influence in his life.
“I am rather surprised that Ihaven’t made more stories about my own country but it is a mistake to suggestthat the biggest influence on my life in terms of movies has been America. Itwas and remains Ken Loach and his whole body of work, not that I have everworked with him. There is something unique and pure about the way he works, without a taint on it. His beliefs have remained unwavering since he made CathyCome Home.”
He gave Carey Mulligan a personal note for the movieAn Education.
When describing the gift from Daniel Day-Lewis, sheexplains:
“He wrote me this beautiful handwritten note a couple weeks afterwards just saying how nice it was to meet me andthat he’d like An Education. His penmanship was beautiful. The note was themost beautiful thing. If my house was burning down, I would save that. It is soprecious.”
“If….” is his major earlyinfluence
When asked about a movie he saw when he was young that made himsay, “This is what I’ve got to do with my life”, Daniel mentioned seeing themovie “If…” about a rebellion at a British boarding school, withMalcolm McDowell.
“Certainly that was a very important moment, but not just because of Malcolm inthat film. It was partly because I was at aboarding school at the time, and if I could have got away with setting fire tothe place, I would have done it. And he created a banner around which all theoutcasts rallied, and so that film was a big influence.”
 MUSIC
Some of these are really shocking since it’s hard to imaginewhat kind of music DDL listens to so prepare yourself.
Eminem
This is one of my favorite DDL’s legendary tales. For Gangsof New York, DDL listened to the music of Eminem to get intohis character, the infamously violent leader of the Natives gang, Bill theButcher.
“Yes, every morning around five, especially the song“The Way I Am.” I’ve admired him for a while. I’m always on thelookout for music that might be helpful to a role. It bypasses the intellect ina particular way. With this film, I realized I was listening to Eminem morethan usual.”
Classical music
He listens to Bach.
Folk music
In one interview, whiledriving up the Wicklow Mountains, DDL slid a CD of Irish folk music bythe band Planxty into the sound system, and the writer said the car was filledwith layers of mandolins and guitars while DDL said:
“Nothing I say will be more eloquent than this music.”
(he loves not talking during interview) ;D
Snoop Dogg
This is the transcript from an interview with DDL back in2003.
Q: What other music have you used to prepare for roles?DDL: SinéadO'Connor certainly has helped me. Bach. Nirvana. Snoop Dogg.
Q: That’s funny, I’m interviewing him tomorrow.DDL: Are you! Will you, from this great distance, pay my respects? He won’tknow who the fuck I am, but I think he’s very cool.
Jimi Hendrix
This is coming from his first son with Isabelle Adjani, Gabriel-KaneDay-Lewis:
“The first album I ever listened to was ‘Purple Haze’ byJimi Hendrix; my dad gave it to me on my tenth birthday. My mom flippedout! I know there’s a lot of sex, drugs, and rock & roll all incorporatedin his music, but there’s something I loved about that kind of rock & roll.It was so raw, and so authentic — it really spoke to me. My music is definitelysoul, folk-oriented, and acoustic, though. “
We also knew he went to Adele concert with his son
Tumblr media
andto Bruce Springsteen’s as well and hung out with him in Italy with Steven Spielberg.

The BookWorm Questionnaire!
[Disclaimer: I have not created this questionnaire. I had the post in drafts and completed it today. However, the person that I saved the draft from has already deactivated the account. Their source was: http://bookaddict24-7.com/]
1. What book are you reading right now?
I am in the middle of “The illustrated Gormenghast Trilogy” (the second book: Gormenghast) by Mervyn Peake. I have a novella by Laird Barron left in the “Ominosus” anthology that contained to lovecraftiana novelettes by Elizabeth Bear and Caitlín R. Kiernan. Finally, on Friday I started reading “Too Like the Lighting” by Ada Palmer, the first book in the Terra Ignota quartet and a really challenging text so far.
2. What will you read next? I plan to keep on reading horror anthologies, maybe throw a Tanith Lee novel to spice things up and read the second TP of the comic “Monstress” by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda. I am also interested in checking the much hyped “The Girls” by Emma Cline and reading “Sunshine” by Robin McKinley.
3. What was your favorite childhood book? It would be tied between “Glubbslyme” by Jacqueline Wilson (in Spanish: “Babatracio”) and “La auténtica Susi” (in German: “Echt Susi”) by Christine Nöstlinger.
4. What were your reading habits like as a kid?  I read often, went to the library at least once a week and was scolded for reading “too much” by my grandmother, who thought it was damaging my sight. In retrospect, it probably didn’t help that I needed glasses as soon as I started reading.
5. How many books do you have checked out from the library? Right now, none, but when I do I take at least two.
6. What books do you have on hold at the library? None at the moment.
7. Do you have a bad book habit? I have a horrible posture reading and my neck and back suffer. Also, I tend to read while eating now that I work at home and sauces/soups/teas end up staining the pages more often that I would like to admit.
8. Do you read one book at a time, or several? I used to be a strict one-book-at-a-time person (unless one was an essay) by now I juggle at least couple of books. I read the very heavy tomes and the paperbacks with thin binding at home to avoid damaging the books and I usually take the e-reader or a lighter book to read outside (for paperbacks, I use a small cloth bag I bought in Germany for book carrying or a totebag if I have lent the bag to Marc).
9. What is your favorite book you’ve read this year? “The Dispossessed” by Ursula K. Le Guin is absurdly good (and now I want to live on an anarchist moon). Second would be “Radiance” by Catherynne M. Valente, a decopunk novel about b/w cinema in a world where the Solar System has been populated by humans.
10. What is your least favorite book you’ve read this year? I read professionally for a publishing house and some of the manuscripts were subpar. A couple contained very harmful tropes and some had the laziest writing you can imagine.
11. What is your reading comfort zone? Dark fantasy, science-fiction, non-gorey horror, magical realism.
12. How often do you read outside of your comfort zone? Not often. I rarely read mysteries, romance, erotica or historical novels. Lately, I have received a score of YA manuscripts because of my and I have ended up reading many romantic stories and thrillers.
13. What is your favorite place to read? Trains and buses. I don’t usually get motion sickness and the landscape is an interesting view when I need to rest my eyes.
14. Do you lend out books? Not often. My friends live far or have too many books of their own pending.
15. Do you dog-ear books? NEVER. I remember or use one of my billion bookmarks (or random pieces of paper).
16. Do you write in the margins of books? No. I have a notebook for my manuscript reading and I try to take notes on my phone when I really like a quote.
17. What makes you love a book? Non-reliable narrators, a heavy use of mythology and folklore, beautiful descriptions, given names that have meaning, a plot that follows several generations of a family, sorority.
18. What will inspire you to recommend a book? When I realize a book is a perfect fit for a person and they are going to appreciate the style or the theme.
19. What is the one book you will always recommend to everyone? My Tanith Lee proselytism forces me to recommend “Biting the Sun” to everybody. I have also been an enthusiast defender of “The Drowning Girl” by Caitlín R. Kiernan, the comics “The Wicked + The Divine” (by Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie), the novel “Embassytown” by China Miéville (translator sci-fi!) and Jacqueline Carey’s “Kushiel’s Dart”.
20. Is there a book you love that nobody else seems to? In high school we had to read “Últimas tardes con Teresa” by Juan Marsé and everybody I know dislikes it violently, while I can still quote fragments.
21. Do you read while you are: Eating? Taking a bath? Watching TV? Listening to music? On the computer? On the bus?  Eating: yes. Taking a bath: never (I would be too afraid and also I have a very small bath). Watching TV: no and I also find distracting if somebody else is watching. Listening to music: not often but I can if it helps drown a worse sound. On the bus: yes, and gladly.
22. What is your favorite genre to read? Dark fantasy followed by anthropological science-fiction (in the vein of Le Guin or Karen Lord’s “The Best of all Possible Worlds”).
23. What genre do you rarely read, but wish you read more of? Historical. I like history but I am not sure of where the good books are between a pile of mediocre and lengthy novels.
24. What is your favorite biography? I have not read many biographies but I like essays with biographical content like Caitlin Moran’s books or Kameron Hurleys’ “The Geek Feminist Revolution”.
25. What is your favorite non-fiction? I remember enjoying “Evil by Design”: The Creation and Marketing of the Femme fatale” about the idea of the fallen woman, the dichotomy Virgin Mary/prostitute, the mythological representation of evil women and the female characterization of absinthe.
26. Have you ever read a self-help book? My friends gifted me a teenage book on self-esteem but other than that I tend to dislike the genre and avoid it.
27. What is your favorite reading snack? Ideally, something that is not messy and does not leave crumbs or stains but I love drinking coffee/tea and eating chocolate while reading.
28. What is the most inspirational book you’ve read this year? “The Dispossessed” has prompted HOURS of speculation with Marc about the feasibility of the political and economic system in the novel. Creatively speaking, the Gormenghast series is so beautifully and evocatively written that some fragments are even painful to read.
29. Are there any books that have been ruined for you by all the hype? I hyped myself too much with Jeffrey Eugenides’ “The Marriage Plot” because I had loved “The Virgin Suicides” and “Middlesex”. I was a bit disappointed and I didn’t engage with the characters.
30. How often do you agree with critics about a book? I don’t tend to follow the critics but I check the recommendations of people with a taste similar to mine.
31. How do you feel about giving negative reviews? I used to write reviews for a website and it was really hard for me, as I imaged the impact it could have in the author. I only rate books I really enjoy in Goodreads to get similar recommendations. I feel that the system of stars or points never really reflects my experience with a book and that we tend to focus on objectivity too much while most of my reading experience is REALLY subjective.
32. What book are you most intimidated to begin? It used to be “Ada or Ardor” by Nabokov and it was really challenging. Now I am respectfully waiting for the right moment to start “Perdido Street Station” by China Miéville.
33. What book are you most likely to take on vacation with you? I like tying books to travels (“Game of Thrones” was my Erasmus read, I read “Sabella” by Tanith Lee and “Aniara” by Harry Martinson in Venice, etc.). I tend to plan the books I pack for travels with care. In December I have a wedding and I am already pondering which Tanith Lee novel I will take with me. Probably I will continue the Flat Earth series.
34. What is the longest you have gone without reading? A couple of days.
35. What is a book that you just couldn’t finish? The feminist essay book “Vamps & Tramps” by Camille Paglia. I don’t recall exactly why, only that I feel a remnant of anger when I see the cover.
36. What is the most money you have spent on books at one time? Around 80-100 euros on a couple of very specific occasions.
37. How often do you skim through a book before reading it? Very often. I had to cure me of the impulsion to check the last line of a book because I was spoiling myself often.
38. Do you keep books or give them away once you’ve read them? I tend to keep them and they will make the next time we change flats a living hell :)
39. Are there any books that you’ve been avoiding, or refuse to read? I actively avoid giving money to Orson Scott Card.
40. What is a book you didn’t expect to like, but did? The first stories of Lankhmar by Fritz Leiber. Sword and sorcery seems a bit stale for me as a subgenre but I found the stories funny and I loved to spot future Discworld references.
41. What is your favorite guilt-free pleasure reading? In ASOIAF I swooned with the Sansa Stark/Sandor Clegane relationship. I acknowledge he is a troubled character and his whole attraction to youth/beauty/purity is very cliché but I have a soft spot for certain clichés.
42. What reading materials are in your bathroom right now? None. My bathroom is a small wet place and I want my books dry. However, I sometimes bring reading materials to the bathroom.
43. What book do you most remember reading for school? “La plaça del Diamant” by Catalan author Mercè Rodoreda, the story of a poor and very sensitive woman living in a Barcelona cursed by the civil war. It’s a sad book with a glimmer of hope. If you are trying to get into Catalan lit, this one is a top recommendation!
44. What was the last book that you couldn’t put down until you finished it? “Wylding Hall” by Elizabeth Hand.
45. What book is (physically) closest to you right now? I’m in the office/library at home so most of my books are equally close to me now.
46. What is your favorite book series? The first Kushiel trilogy by Jacqueline Carey. It is not that I don’t recommend the other books in the same universe, only that I have not read them yet and I can’t say if they hold up to the original trilogy.
47. What is the longest book you’ve ever read? Shortest? Longest: According to Goodreads, “A Dance with Dragons”, followed by Michel Faber’s “The Crimson Petal and the White”. Shortest: don’t remember. Maybe a couple of small anthologies with Russian short stories by Pushkin and Teffi.
48. Who is your favorite book character?  As a kid, I adored Anne (of Green Gables). Now I admire Granny Weatherwax from Terry Pratchett’s Discworld, for example.
49. Who is your favorite author? Tanith Lee.
50. What is your favorite book?  I am not really sure but I started saying “Biting the Sun” by Tanith Lee and it has stuck.

Transiting Mars enters Taurus
March 9 - April 21, 2017
Taurus is one of the two signs where Mars is in its detriment - i.e., it’s in the sign opposite its rulership, in this case Scorpio. Wrote astrologer Isabel Hickey, “Mars in Taurus is in a feminine sign; its difficulties have to do with overpossessiveness and jealousy…. Mars is persistent and patient in this sign but also extremely stubborn….”
I think the problem here can be understood by remembering that Mars is action and energy, while Taurus placements are “set in stone.” Kind of difficult to go charging out into the world when the cement is setting! Mars here needs to learn a few new tricks, namely “persistence and patience.”
Of course that’s anathema to Mars (what a Gryffindor) - there’s a reason its symbol looks like an erection, after all. Steven Forrest tells us that Mars transits, handled well, bring out in/for us (among other things) “the right tactical use of assertiveness and aggression.” Taurus can teach Mars how to be resourceful, too, how to use what’s handy, in brilliantly advantageous ways.
With Mars, we must do what is necessary. Sometimes it’s necessary to “fight and run away;” sometimes it’s better to watch the other people duke it out; sometimes it’s best to avoid fighting at all. Taurean courage takes pride in its stability and stubborn practicality.
Mars gone wrong in Taurus won’t do anything. It takes Taurean stability to an extreme, perhaps as a way to be passive-aggressive. Mars can be very destructive in Taurus, too. The sign has a long fuse, but when it finally blows, the wreckage can exceed what even a Scorpio can cause.
Fortunately, all the aspects Mars makes are “good” ones, sextiles and trines and one conjunction. The exceptions will be from the Moon, and those last for only a couple of hours. Even so, be careful! Don’t let Mars get complacent; use these six weeks to acquire another skill set. And: many of those aspects are said to boost fertility. If you aren’t situated to care for a child, here is the Planned Parenthood website for your immediate bookmarking.
Celebrities with Mars in Taurus: Madonna, Adolf Hitler, JFK, Kanye, Mariah Carey, JLaw, Celine Dion, Charlie Chaplin, Mick Jagger, Charlize Theron, Sir Isaac Newton, Robert DeNiro, Lucy Lawless, Kate Moss, Salvador Dali, Muhammad Ali, Christian Bale, 50 Cent, Henry Cavill, Andy Warhol, Janet Jackson, Kesha, Fidel Castro, Tim Burton, Rachel Weisz, Jack White, Franz Kafka, Helena Bonham Carter, Chuck Norris
Monday, March 13, North Node/Virgo trine Mars/Taurus, South Node/Pisces sextile Mars/Taurus, 2:27
Almost all the ingresses these days start with activity involving the Lunar Nodes. It’s a timing thing, and we’re encouraged to set out to become a more effective, valuable person. We can build the kind of faith in ourselves that increases our confidence and potential..
Planets/Points affected lie between 1:27 and 3:27 of the yin signs Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces.
Monday, March 27, Neptune/Pisces sextile Mars/Taurus, 12:39
Ms M is kind of flipping out about this one, as Mars will be on her Venus and Descendant, with Neptune sextiling them both - and, transiting Venus Rx will be on her Mars that day. She has no suitors, nor is she considering promoting anyone from the specimens around her. WTF! Anyway, this indeed has a very romantic, idealistic side. We have that Neptune idealism going full blast in Pisces, and with Mars in Taurus we can take practical steps to make the ideals into reality. Just pace yourself, and all should be well.
Planets/Points affected lie between 11:39 and 13:39 of the yin signs Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces.
Wednesday, March 29, Juno/Capricorn trine Mars/Taurus, 14:08
More romance. This is one of the “fertility” placements, and Capricorn (like all cardinal signs) has a tinge of manipulation about it; there really is such a “thing” as getting pregnant, or getting someone pregnant, to force a commitment. Better to use this energy working with the partner toward concrete (Earth signs) accomplishments. Doing something practical on behalf of the powerless is a good use of the energy, too.
Planets/Points affected lie between 13:08 and 15:08 of the yin signs Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces.
Tuesday, April 4, Pluto/Capricorn trine Mars/Taurus, 19:20
More about the sex, not so much the romance. There is tremendous physical/earthy power at our disposal today. We’re invincible! We have the potential to accomplish what might seem to be a superhuman amount of work today. There’s an additional boost of “hard work” from the fact that Saturn turns retrograde today. Maybe the best use of this trine will be to use it to tackle something you’ve been putting off.
Planets/Points affected lie between 18:20 and 20:20 of the yin signs Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces.
Monday, April 10, Ceres/Taurus conjunct Mars/Taurus, 22:15
Another really, really fertile aspect. From the Martian perspective, this might take the form of one of those World War 2 “Why We Fight” propaganda videos: for our homes and hearths, for our kids and our parents. Less happily, beware of issues about self-worth rising from whether or not we can adequately provide for our dependents. And/Or, it could twist in such a way that we’re focused on self-sufficiency.
Planets/Points affected lie between 21:15 and 23:15 of the signs Taurus, Cancer, Leo*, Virgo, Scorpio*, Capricorn, Aquarius*, and Pisces.
Thursday, April 13, Vesta/Cancer sextile Mars/Taurus, 24:50
Makes me chuckle, because the textbook definition of these two, in these signs, making this aspect, would be “home improvements.” And why the heck not? We’ll get something practical accomplished, and maybe we’ll learn something in the process! Putter in the yard, clean the oven, etc.
Planets/Points affected lie between 23:50 and 25:50 of the yin signs Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces.
Sunday, April 16, Chiron/Pisces sextile Mars/Taurus, 26:35; Venus/Pisces sextile Mars/Taurus, 26:57
Well then. We have a Venus/Chiron conjunction (with Venus having turned direct less than 48 hours previous), with those two being associated with the sign Libra. They’re in dreamy, idealistic Pisces. And they’re sextile (opportunities) that earthy, physical Mars in Taurus. (Fans self.) This weirdly, or not so weirdly, has an artistic side, too. Our creative projects could flourish under this influence. Whatever it is we’re doing, we’re putting a lot of passion into it.
Planets/Points affected lie between 25:35 and 27:57 of the yin signs Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces.
