The more I think about it, the more I think when Bernie came back to see Cam, she was going to stay with Marcus and just for a few days.
Then after the bomb, she decided to get a hotel. Serena was on the first plane out. They stayed long enough for a funeral and for the police investigation to conclude (and to see Jason, which is why it wasn't such a big deal when they visited and offered to look after Guinevere), but then went back to Spain.
They also saw a couple of Holby friends, which is, again, why no one was MASSIVELY reactive to seeing them (I'm looking at you, Dominic Copeland).

Matthew Stafford makes his return
THOUSAND OAKS (News4usonline) - Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford isn't going anywhere. Those retirement rumors have been squashed. Stafford's appearance for workouts during Phase I of the team's OTAs at the Rams' facility, underscores this fact.
Appearing at a press conference to talk about his offseason and how he is preparing for the new one, Stafford looked fresh and clearly energetic. He also smiled a lot. That element about Stafford was missing last season after he had his 2022 season cut short due to injury.

Stafford, who drove the Rams to a win in Super Bowl LVI, played all of nine games last season. After throwing just 10 touchdown passes on the season, Stafford was forced to take a knee for the rest of the season, going on the team’s injured reserve list.
The culprit behind the early shutdown of Stafford was a spinal contusion. With Stafford sidelined for nearly half of the season in 2022 after throwing for 4,886 yards and 41 touchdowns, the Rams faced an uphill battle to get their season on track.
Unfortunately, the Stafford effect took a toll on the team with their leader out. The Rams' offense went rudderless, and the champs went 5-12 in their follow-up season after winning the Super Bowl.
The good news for the Rams and their fans is that Stafford has returned. During his abbreviated presser, Stafford sounded like he is ready to make a strong rebound from that injury that forced him to watch the Rams’ last eight games of the season.

“Yeah, I think like everybody that plays this game, you got to take some time away just to kind of relax and reset,” Stafford said during a press conference at the Rams practice facility. “(I’ve) spent a lot of days in my life in a practice facility somewhere, either here or in Detroit, and so you got to take that time to kind of be away from it so that when you do come back, days like today or days like the first day of training camp, whenever that is, that you are truly really excited and ready to go, which I am at this point. So I think that's the biggest thing. Just take some time and get ready to go.”
Stafford, as well as running back Cam Akers, linebacker Ernest Jones and defensive lineman Marquise Copeland, all made their way to the podium to talk about their offseason and what’s next as the team mesh in phase one of OTAs and prepares for the NFL Draft.
This offseason has been a busy one for the Rams. Many key contributors on that Super Bowl team are no longer here as the team has undergone a personnel purge as the NFL Draft looms ahead.
Starting with the second round, the Rams have 11 selections to make in this year’s draft. In the meantime, Stafford will be working on his rapport with Allen Robinson II and re-engaging with Cooper Kupp, who also went down to the injury bug last season.
Stafford has his three core wide receivers in Kupp, Robinson, and Van Jefferson to work with. If you add in tight end Tyler Higbee and second-year wideout Lance McCutcheon, Stafford and the Rams look really good on their side on the offensive side of the ball. Akers gives Stafford a security blanket out of the backfield.
Rumors of Stafford going into retirement have been debunked by the veteran quarterback.
“I felt really confident I was coming back. I feel like more people were less confident in that than I was. But no, I was ready to go, ready to play as soon as I was cleared and I feel great, feel healthy, and I'm not 25 but I definitely feel good.”
If anyone thinks there is or was a possibility Stafford might leave, that idea has been kicked to the curb as well by Stafford. He’s in this thing for the long haul with the Rams, he said.

“Well, I love being here. I really love playing with the guys that we have in this locker room, obviously, there's going to be new faces,” Stafford said. “There are some great teammates of mine that are no longer going to be teammates of mine through this offseason. I understand that it's part of the business.”
“But I love coming to work here. I love working with our coaches and getting the opportunity to play with some of the guys that we play with,” Stafford added. “So that made that decision easy for me. And like you said, I didn't feel like it was the same kind of level and that's yet to be seen. Every season is different, and we will see who our new teammates are going to be and we'll go from there.”

About Tuck Everlasting
Tuck Everlasting is based on the popular novel of the same name by Natalie Babbitt. It tells the story of a family who drink water from a magical spring and become immortal. When they encounter a young girl who lives in their rural New England town, she becomes friends with one of the sons, who soon offers her the secret to everlasting life. She then must decide if she wants to join her new friends in immortality, or if she will live out her normal life. Tuck Everlasting premiered in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2015 and began playing on Broadway in 2016 where it received positive reviews. A timeless story of family, loss, friendship, and love, Tuck Everlasting is sure to become a classic favorite.

Spyro the dragon wii
Much like Crash Bandicoot: Warped (see Spotlight on Crash Bandicoot: Warped, "Bam! Boom! Crash!" in this issue), Spyro is all about hunting and gathering. Whether or not they succeed when Spyro is released this October will be up to you to judge. Insomniac and Universal will attempt to temper the cute-n-cuddly factor with brain-draining platform-style gameplay. Spyro the Dragon could be the sleeper hit of the season, but, then again, he may suffer the curse of Yoshi: too cute for his own good. And if Spyro sounds familiar, it's because his voice-overs are done by Carlos Alazraqui, who does voices for Rocko's Modern World and for the Chihuahua in the Taco Bell commercials. By swiveling Spyro's head, you'll fire up close-ups with a 180-degree field of view in any direction.Īs if all this wasn't enough, the early version played audio that actually rocked, thanks in large part to music composed by former Police-man, Stewart Copeland. In the prelim CD, some jewels revealed their hiding places by the merest twinkle in a far-off hillside.ĭuring gameplay, you'll also be able to pull a few camera tricks, rotating the cam around Spyro 360 degrees and playing from any angle. Spyro will also show off impressive proprietary graphics technology that enables the game designers to create amazingly smooth background textures for nicely detailed long-distance views. Moreover, speaking of animation-quality graphics, Insomniac and Universal not only had the game animation running at 30 frames per second, but they're also using a new compression technique that allows them to store twice as many frames of animation than normal. The preview CD displayed Spyro with silky-smooth character graphics and cartoon-like animation. The graphics in the early disc revealed a lush fantasy land that looked like something out of an animated feature film. Spyro, his moves, and his worlds were beautifully cast with gorgeous graphics and impressive sounds in the pre-release CD. Spyro will be protected by his sidekick, Sparks the dragonfly, a sort of rechargeable insect shield that runs interference for him against the bad guys. He can also pull some slick moves, such as a long-distance power glide, a ram-chargin' run, and a variety of cool-looking body rolls. He'll be packing Gnorc-wupping power in his fiamethrowing breath and a headbutt that's practically unstoppable. When it comes to combat, Spyro will definitely be no flaggin' dragon. According to Sony, if you find everything, you'll unlock a hidden level. He'll have to defeat a wacked-out army of reptilian henchmen in order to recover pilfered jewels and retrieve stolen dragon eggs, too. Yet Spyro will have to find more than just his lost dragon brethren if he's going to get a crack at Gnasty. The adventure covers the gamut of environments, including deserts, ice lands, and even underwater worlds. You'll have to track down your crystallized homies, all 80 of whom are hidden in 30 geographically diverse areas. Gnasty's transformed all dragons into crystal statues, which are scattered across six massive worlds. Playing as the plucky dragon cub, Spyro, you will be on a quest to free your fellow dragons from a nasty spell cast by an obnoxious gno-goodnik named Gnasty Gnorc. In preview form, Spyro the Dragon unveiled a wondrously mystical world, with smooth gameplay and animation that compelled you to pick up a Dual Shock controller just to watch the little guy move! As megahits-in-the-making such as Crash Bandicoot: Wanted, Tomb Raider, and Metal Gear Solid prepare to make their holiday rush, there's another PlayStation game that just might glide into your world-Spyro the Dragon.Įven in its early stages, Spyro is shaping up to be a primo platform adventure epic that appears to be trying to answer the question: just how pretty can a PlayStation game be? As it did with Crash Bandicoot, Sony Computer Entertainment of America looks ready to score with another collaborative PlayStation development effort, this time with Insomniac Games and Universal Interactive Studios.

Humility or Boldness at Work-Selah 78-CMAW174
S
Ecclesiastes 3:1 says "To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:"
I heard my pastor Cam Huxford about 17 years ago at Savannah Christian church now Compassion Church preach a series on the Paradox of the Kingdom of God, of how in so many ways the Kingdom is the opposite of what we would think on our own. For example you must die in order to live and if you give you will receive. There is much more to this than what I just shared and I probably need to try and find the sermon again and listen, but the reason it has stuck with me is that time and again it rings true for me. I used to really enjoy the Seinfeld Show and one of my favorite episodes was when George and Jerry came to the conclusion that George’s instincts were always wrong and so George began doing the opposite of what he thought he should do. In some way I think that applies to the Christian walk. Proverbs 14:12 says “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.” I know that we have the gift of the Holy Spirit but I can only speak for myself that I do not trust my own instincts on many matters and need to seek God and ask him to guide me all the time. This creates tension but I think it’s a good tension.
There’s another aspect to the Kingdom journey and walk I want to talk about that is similar to that Paradoxical aspect and that is the tension of knowing when to be humble and when to be bold, specifically in the workplace.
I believe I shared about 6 months ago that I received some correction at work. It was hard to take and it was humbling. Things have gone much better since then. I've received a lot of positive feedback, both in terms of WHAT I've been doing, meeting work metrics, and HOW I've been doing it, specifically that I had shown kindness to fellow workers.
I've heard it said that the Christian walk is a tension between grace and law, between humility and boldness, between strength and weakness, and our response and focus should vary depending on where we are at in our circumstances.
When we're at a low point in our circumstances at work, we should focus on God's grace, on His Promises, and on our inheritance and status as children of the living God. Some verse that express that come to mind include: Eph 6;10 "be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might", Hebrews 4:16 "Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.", Phil 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me", and Romans 8:37 "Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us."
There was a season where my wife and I were very much following what is called "Word of Faith" doctrine, and attending a word of faith church. Some of the preachers known for this are Kenneth Copeland, Andrew Womack, and Charles Capps among others. This is often referred to as the Prosperity Gospel. I agree there are errors in this part of the body. I have not thrown the baby out with the bath water and I believe God wants us to speak his word with power and confidence, particularly when we have been humbled and beaten down, whether it was a self-inflicted wound or not.
When we are at a high point at work, we just got a promotion or an attaboy, we're feeling like we're providing value to others and have refined our skillset, those are the times, I believe, when we need to focus on our weakness and be humble. That doesn't mean we should not celebrate our blessings and good times, but we should give glory to God and not to ourselves.
We don't want to be like King Nebuchadnezzar who in Daniel 4:30 " was walking about the royal palace of Babylon. 30 The king spoke, saying, “Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for a royal dwelling by my mighty power and for the honor of my majesty?”
Immediately God made him to be like a wild beast eating grass in the wilderness for 7 years.
James 4:10 says " Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up."
As believers we are children of the most High God, but we are NOT God. Like the old saying, we need to believe that there is a God and we are not Him.
We are never as bad as we think we are at work in our lowest moments, nor are we as great as we might think we are at our greatest moments.
E
For an example of Faith at Work, I want to use an example the very first person I interviewed on this Podcast, Dave Brown. Similar to the story of Chuck Colson, Dave humbled himself and dedicated himself to God through in the middle of his long career in government. He later went to Seminary and became a pastor and has lead a ministry to men. For more on Dave, check out episode 1 as well as Episode 140 where Dave and I talked about Isolation, Passivity, and Political Idolatry.

As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.

Nutcracker and the Four Realms was just so lacking in so many things. It felt perfectly manufactured but utterly hollow.
The grandiose design just felt like fluff to distract you from what it lacks, and it didn’t even do a good job of being a distraction.
Nothing was cohesive, and they tried stringing together something that was supposedly meant to be emotional???? But it was like planks interacting with each other.
Final note -- Disney Live Action really loves their spunky little smart girl who’s oh so s t r o n g because she’s smart (and we have to tell you that) and not like those other girls who like to be feminine. No.... she must be strong and she must tell you she’s strong and she musn’t dare be feminine, she just naturally is

my concept was that her mom , sonya ackerman , was a world-renowned ballerina , like one of the first on the east coast and had a massive studio that took off in seattle as one of the premier ballet academies for dancers of color !her dad , theodore st. james , was a criminal prosecutor training to become an assistant district attorney in georgia , but would commute out to washington bc obv blue’s mom isn’t gonna just abandon what she worked so hard to build . her parents were a rather stable couple , but blue can easily admit what a piece of work her mom was and the fucking number she did on those around her
part of pushing so hard for success meant having a lot to lose , and sonya made that the driving point of not just her life , but her only child’s , a bright-eyed baby girl with a gaze as pensive and thought-provoking as the color she was named after . blue ocean was a miracle , a gentle ( but rather prone to fixating ) soul from the moment her curls came into the light of this world , and was her father’s pride since the moment he held her . suddenly commutes were that much harder , the tension of having a marriage and a daughter only on the weekends and being left a stranger to your own child all because of your wife’s unyielding stubbornness really did a number on theodore which led to the eventual demise of their marriage :/
blue doesn’t remember much leading up to the divorce , but she’s smart enough to recognize her dad didn’t just up and leave out of nowhere . he later tells her he was sure he’d get at least shared custody , but the courts surprisingly ruled in sonya’s favor with no rational logic behind it other than her claim of motherhood . being raised with the world’s weight on her shoulders hugely influenced blue’s personality , ballet being the only thing she remembers as a constant in her life . never one to lash out , blue took the oppressive upbringing as an opportunity to prove herself — maybe this wasn’t her dream , but she was a perfectionist obsessed with control , and she’d take whatever path her mother put her on and do a damn good job at it .
highschool was highschool and she was gone almost as soon as she had arrived , graduating with only enough friends that she could count on her hand , and whisked off to the city in which she had heard in countless of her mother’s nostalgic throw-back stories growing up , attending julliard’s prestigious ballet program as if to honor her late mother’s legacy at her alma mater .
excelling through classes , nailing audition after audition for a coups de ballet role but never a principal , blue builds her reputation among the new york dance scene with grace and humility , inching her way towards her ultimate goal of the american ballet theater as paved by misty copeland , the only hero who even compares to her mother in blue’s eyes . she’s just a few more well-timed performances away from the life she’s always envisioned , until a sudden phone call flips her life on it’s head . she hasn’t addressed her mother’s passing , nor its details , and it’s unlikely a person with such an emotionally reserved disposition such as herself will ever really come around to processing it out loud . the news hits halfway through sophomore year and she makes it until finals week before she spends a week in the hospital , unravelled and unhinged , dehydrated from her sobs and weak from her inability to keep food down due to an unrelenting anxiety she’s never known quite like this . this subtle childhood nature of fixation and perfection manifests as a full blown obsessive compulsive disorder diagnosed during her psych eval , releasing her with a script and a recommendation to go somewhere where she’s got a support system .
hu , only a half hour drive from her father’s firm and the current school of her childhood best friend , receives an application days later , declaring an interest in “ a change of pace from the world of ballet and an interest in their world-renowned history program . ” she gets sucked into the greek world without truly meaning to , wandering aimlessly through her new life as she auditions for different ballet troupes and bombs each attempt . feeling empty , distant , and the impending sense of personal failure , her new sisters in chi mu omega give her a constant push of go-go-go to fill her days with a distraction from her thoughts . senior year rounds its head , and blue wants to spend it pushing herself to return to her former glory , eyeing the next year’s productions at the american ballet theater and her dream to once again reach the point she receives an invitation to audition . she’s not quite sure if this will fill the void in her heart , a void she’s sure she’s known nearly her whole life , but she’s got nothing prepared in her back pocket , so it’s really , at this point , all she has left .
⋆ ╰ 𝑨 𝑵 𝑨 𝑳 𝒀 𝑺 𝑰 𝑺 .
for a lil personality blurb , my renditions of blue have always been really soft and nuturing and i want to keep an element of that ? she’s a gentle soul and part of that absolutely stems from her upbringing bc her mom was .. . . . not a nice lady lmao . but somehow , between her mom at home and then her mom in the ballet studio , it just made blue more compassionate ? she’s admittedly a little intimidating , and her defense mechanism has become a quick wit that manifests most amusingly in her sarcasm . the world can’t hurt u if u make fun of it first , right ! i also wanted to sprinkle in a little bit of doe-eyed buffoon which i think fits in well with her whole quiet type persona , so her humor deviates into goofiness that also occasionally manifests as an awkward as shit interaction if she’s feeling a little off ( as in : the bitch has a 50/50 shot of delivering a SEARING burn or stammering so hard she ends up rlly just roasting herself :/ it’s a mystery to see what u’ll end up w when it comes to blue , sigh )
delving in a little deeper , even if she seems like this sarcastic scattered lowkey dork , who gives the illusion she’s mellow and unbothered , she’s a severe overthinker and any convo longer than about 10 minutes will yield to the fact that blue is constantly stressed the FUCK out about the smallest things . she’s really observant and has an uncanny ability to clock ppl , which would make her QUITE the devilish fiend to exploit ppl’s weaknesses but alas , for a. she does not give a shit abt anything enough to treat people cruelly and b. does not have enough braincells to spare from her stress and misery to be fiendish and manipulative KSDJFKJSDHF this makes her a really great person to tell secrets to bc literally who the FUCK is she gonna tell ? is her argument n lowkey ! she right ! SDFHSKDHF
contrary to what her performance background may lead many to believe , she really is not fond of being at the forefront of attention and feels more comfortable lingering in the background , minding her own business , and staying in her lane so catch her being all but INVISIBLE to the greek rank blog ! her critical struggle in life is her obsessive personality , deeply rooted in the trauma of being riased with the unyielding expectation for absolute perfection . she has a hard time letting go and comes close to having a meltdown if things in her world arent completely under her control ( as exemplified by the mental breakdown faced during the most stressful time in her life . ) she’s incredibly hard on herself and really , truly is lost as to who she is without the fixation of perfection in her life . this is incredibly curious due to her selective nature — in terms of grades , she’s only slightly above average , and is rarely interested in being competitive with other people . it’s almost exclusively a competition with herself regarding the most interesting and unassuming things : especially considering that ballet , her whole life’s work and effort , isn’t even her PASSION . on the low , she kinda hates dance culture , especially the ridigity of ballet ! like bitch wha t the FU C K are u working so hard on it for ? n that’s one of her major fears , deviating from what she knows and pursing her true passions , because at least with ballet , she knows it and she knows she’s naturally exceptional — something she can’t guarantee with her true passions ( yet tbd but have something to do with art history ! ) and would rather not pursue if the option of failure , aka non-perfection , is something she’d have to face .
hcs : she doesn’t drive bc she doesn’t have her license as she has rlly bad test anxiety and ate shit all 4 times she tried to take it ( suffice the implication of her failure rests in the sulking pout she wore for about 2 weeks straight as she refused to try again a 5th time ) , is an on and off vegetarian and HATES herself for it , usually that friend who’s goin “ i’m not sure about this guys .. . .. ” while still allowing herself to get dragged into shenanigans , hates her own drama n avoids it but wants to BATHE in the tea of those goin on around her sdfsdfs , goes to bed at 9:30 on the dot so parties are oft a STRUGGLE , has strong mom friend energy despite barely being able to manage herself , is a nerd n knows it yet uses nerd as an insult , cannot cook for her LIFE , and a lil pinterest board is here ! oh ! and she does NOT fuck w being touched unless u get her express approval !!!
plots : i didnt think i would get this far in one go so hit me up on dis/cord for my list of plots that im abt to pull out of my ass ;))))

The Los Angeles Rams wrapped up the 2021 NFL Draft over the weekend which included the signing of 10 undrafted free agents. At this point in their careers, draft grades are mostly stupid. We’re not going to be able to accurately grade these players for three years.
However, what we can do is set realistic expectations for them heading into their rookies season. Here’s what the Rams can expect from their rookies in the 2021 class.
Pick 57 – WR TuTu Atwell
It’s highly unlikely that TuTu Atwell will come in and be this team’s number two wide receiver out of the gates. The Rams have a very deep wide receiver group and because of that, it could be difficult for Atwell to break through. We saw it last season with 57th overall pick Van Jefferson.
That’s not to say that Atwell won’t play, be he likely won’t have a large role. The Rams also signed DeSean Jackson who does a lot of the same things that Atwell does, but better at this point in his career. Jackson does have injury issues, however. Could Atwell contribute as a returner? That’s to be determined. He only returned four punts in college. As it stands, Atwell will likely get 5-10 snaps per game and maybe get a touch every now and then and fill in for Jackson if/when he gets hurt. In all likelihood, Atwell’s rookie season will be about building out his frame and learning from the player that McVay saw in Atwell – DeSean Jackson.
*Rotational player on offense and possible special teams contributor.
Pick 103 – LB Ernest Jones
Jones is one player in this rookie class that might come in and start right away. The Rams don’t have a lot of top talent at linebacker, therefore the opportunity will certainly be there. Jones isn’t necessarily top linebacker talent, but the Rams really like what they have in him.
How much Jones plays as a rookie will depend on how well he picks up the defense. The Rams lost John Johnson III in free agency and are now missing that communicator. Jones was played a huge role on the South Carolina defense and was a major vocal leader. Jones may not take that communicator role as a rookie, but it will be in consideration down the line. The Rams drafted Jones with the sense that he’ll be the future leader of the defense.
As mentioned, the opportunity to start for Jones is there. However, he’ll need to show improvement in areas, specifically in coverage before the Rams can trust him as a three-down linebacker. Of all the Rams rookies, Jones likely has the best opportunity to contribute in year one.
* Rotational linebacker with the opportunity to start
Pick 117 – DL Bobby Brown III
Bobby Brown was a surprise pick for the Rams at 117, but it’s easy to see why they took him. After losing Michael Brockers, the Rams needed a big defensive lineman to replace him. Brown may not have been someone that Rams fans knew before the draft, but they might be happy about this pick relatively soon.
The Rams will likely move forward this season with A’Shawn Robinson, Sebastian Joseph-Day, and Aaron Donald as the starters on the defensive line. However, behind them is where the team needed to get better. Marquise Copeland, Greg Gaines, and Eric Banks were the lone depth prior to the draft.Brown won’t start right away, but he’ll definitely come in on a rotational basis, especially on early down. The new Rams defensive lineman excels against the run. He was one of the highest graded defensive linemen in the SEC according to Pro Football Focus.
* Rotational defensive lineman
Pick 130 – CB Robert Rochell
Rochell is an interesting prospect. He’s not going to start outside for the Rams right away. That will likely be Jalen Ramsey and Darious Williams. However, the competition for the third cornerback spot is wide open as David Long has left a lot to be desired since being drafted.
The Central Arkansas needs to develop in some areas, but if he’s able to pick up the defense early and improve his technique, he could be in line for a large role early in his career. Rochell is inexperienced from the slot, but that doesn’t mean that he can’t do it. The Rams have two ‘sure-things’ in Ramsey and Williams. However, behind them is going to be a fun competition in camp.
It’s hard to predict what Rochell’s role will be due to the fact that the third cornerback position is wide open. At the very least he’ll have a special teams role early, if not more.
*Rotational player in the secondary and special teams contributor
Pick 141 – TE Jacob Harris
There has been some talk among fans that the Rams drafting Jacob Harris spells the end for Brycen Hopkins. That’s absolutely not the case. Harris is the definition of a project. Hopkins will look to step into a larger role this year as Harris develops. After all, he was a wide receiver at Central Florida.
The Rams essentially drafted an athlete at 141. Harris started his college career as a soccer player. He hasn’t been playing football for long, let alone the tight end position. There’s going to be a lot of developing needed in order for Harris to see the field on offense at any point during his rookie year. You might as well throw a red shirt on him and fast forward until next season.
The good part is that Harris does have special teams experience. Therefore, it would not be surprising to see Harris get some action on special teams and contribute in that area.
*Developmental prospect and special teams contributor
Pick 174 – DL Ernest Brown IV
One of the more underrated losses of the offseason is that of Morgan Fox. Fox played an important role for the Rams last season and excelled in it. They’re certainly going to miss him. However, that’s where the Ernest Brown pick comes in. Brown has the ability to rush the passer with his hand in the dirt, or standing up. That’s very similar to Fox.
Now, Brown may not see the field immediately, but ‘Morgan Fox’ is what the Rams had in mind in a year or two with Brown. They’ll just hope that he becomes that player faster than Fox did. He’ll be a developmental prospect and may not see the field much as a rookie.Pick 233 – RB Jake Funk
The Rams drafted Jake Funk for no reason other than to potentially contribute on special teams. Even still, I see it as a long shot that he makes the roster. The Rams have Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson at running back, Xavier Jones is behind them, and then Raymond Calais showed some potential as a returner on kickoffs as well.
Malcolm Brown was another underrated loss in free agency. However, it’s hard to see Funk eventually becoming the player that Brown was with the Rams.
*Potential special teams contributor
Pick 249 – WR Ben Skowronek
Taking another wide receiver late in the draft seemed puzzling for the Rams. However, prior to this year the Rams had three or four wide receivers who all did the same thing. They didn’t have a lot of variety in their receiving corps. Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp are both technicians and possession receivers. Van Jefferson compares very well to those two as well. Josh Reynolds also developed into that skill set.
With Skowronek, the Rams get a possession receiver, but also someone who can go up and high point the ball. Skowronek has the potential to be a effective in the red zone because of his size and ability to work off defenders. Now, he won’t take that role right away, but what the Rams were lacking with Reynolds, they’ll hope to get with Skowronek.Pick 252 – EDGE Chris Garrett
With the 252nd overall pick, teams are simply looking for some potential. Garrett has exactly that. His last two years at Corcordia-St. Paul, Garrett had 30.5 sacks and his 15 forced fumbles in three years set a program record. There’s going to be a huge jump from Minnesota State to the Minnesota Vikings in terms of talent, but this is the type of player you take a chance on with pick 252.
Garrett may not make the initial roster, but it wouldn’t be surprising for them to try and sneak him onto the practice squad. If he does make the roster, he may not make an immediate impact and play ahead of players like Ogbonnia Okoronkwo or Terrell Lewis, but he won’t need to.
*Developmental Pass-rusher
Notable UDFA – OT Alaric Jackson
Alaric Jackson could add some tackle depth early in his career. It was surprising to see him go undrafted. However, he also just got drafted by the CFL and therefore, he may not even see a Rams uniform if that’s what he decides to do. If he does decide to join the Rams, he’ll compete for a backup tackle spot or a place on the practice squad.
*Developmental tackle prospect/Depth piece
Notable UDFA – OG Jordan Meredith
Meredith isn’t going to come in and start right away, but I like him as a depth piece to take Jamil Demby’s spot on the roster. He only allowed one sack in 2020 and his 81.5 overall blocking PFF grade ranked eighth in college football. He needs to develop and improve his technique, but if he can show enough in camp, he can make the final roster.
*Depth interior offensive lineman
Notable UDFA – WR Jeremiah Haydel
It’s going to be difficult for Haydel to make the final roster as he won’t add a lot as a receiver. However, his ability as a returner is exactly why he could make the final roster. He was one of t
wo players in college football last season to score on a punt and kick return. The Texas State wide receiver was selected second-team All-America and first-team All-Sun Belt Conference as a punt returner.
Given the Rams troubles at punt returner over the last two season, I don’t think they can have too many options. Hayden could at the very least make the practice squad.Notable UDFA – S Jovan Grant
Some might prefer to see Paris Ford here, but I really think Grant is the safety to watch among the undrafted free agents. He brings value on special teams with the potential to develop into a contributor down the line. The Rams need depth at safety, therefore, it would not be surprising to see one of the three safety signings to make the final 53. If not, at least one of them will make the practice squad.

Patriots salary-cap problems begin with the draft - Sports - Milford Daily News
If you rewind back to when free agency started in March, it was clear that the Patriots were operating with limited funds.
“Look, we paid Cam Newton $1 million. I mean it’s obvious we didn’t have any money. It’s nobody’s fault. That’s what we did the last five years. We sold out and won three Super Bowls, played in a fourth and played in an AFC Championship Game. This year we had less to work with. It’s not an excuse; it’s just a fact.”
Bill Belichick’s words on WEEI Radio’s OMF show last week caught many by surprise. Some labeled the comments as excuse-making. Others thought the Patriots coach was being brutally honest about his team’s current issues and why they lack talent on both sides of the ball.
The quote stems from an interview Belichick had with former colleague Charlie Weis before the Patriots’ loss to the Buffalo Bills. Belichick explained that this year’s Patriots team was playing more young players than they typically do. The reason for that, Belichick said, was that the Patriots didn’t have salary-cap flexibility this past offseason combined with an NFL-high eight opt-outs.
So, when Belichick appeared on WEEI, he was asked about the comments and was told that some observers believed he making excuses. When the Patriots head coach said that his team “sold out” and won Super Bowls, it was certainly surprising. Although Belichick isn’t wrong about the Patriots salary-cap situation, it’s also not the entire explanation as to how and why this 2020 Patriots team has started with a 2-5 record and is in third place in the AFC East.
When you take a look at the Patriots’ roster building, you see issues with certain contracts and past draft selections that have left the team depleted and without many young building blocks.
BELICHICK IS NOT WRONG when he says the Patriots didn’t have any money to sign big-name free agents in 2020.
If you rewind back to when free agency started in March, it was clear that the Patriots were operating with limited funds. By the time the second week of free agency started on March 23, the Pats had an estimated $2.555 million in cap space. At that point, the team had signed Brian Hoyer, Brandon Copeland and Cody Davis, but that cap number didn’t even include those three contracts.
It was evident that the team was held back because of the amount of dead cap money on the roster. When Tom Brady signed with Tampa Bay, he accounted for $13.5 million of the Patriots’ salary cap. That dead cap money number is currently more than $28.5 million, according to Overthecap.com. That’s the seventh-most in the NFL. Brady tops a list that includes Antonio Brown ($4.75 million), Stephen Gostkowski ($3.2 million), Michael Bennett ($2 million) and Duron Harmon ($1.25 million).
At that point, the Pats had already placed the $14.781-million franchise tag on guard Joe Thuney.
When the contracts of Hoyer, Copeland and Davis were processed, the Pats estimated cap space hovered around $800,000 on March 25. By that time, the Pats had already lost Brady, Kyle Van Noy, Jamie Collins, Danny Shelton and Elandon Roberts. They also traded Harmon to Detroit in order to clear an additional $4.25 million off their cap. So, in an instant, the Pats were without their best quarterback (Brady), two of their best defensive players (Van Noy and Collins), their starting defensive tackle (Shelton), a veteran safety (Harmon) and defensive captain (Roberts) and had no cap space left.
Belichick wasn’t wrong.
It wasn’t until Dont’a Hightower, Patrick Chung and Marcus Cannon opted out that they suddenly became a team with more cap space — $22 million below the salary cap. By the time this happened, it was the summer and free agency was long over.
The Patriots do deserve some of the blame for their salary-cap issues.
The decision to place the $14.781-million franchise tag on Thuney was questionable at the time because the Patriots lost so much talent in free agency. Sources told The Providence Journal at the NFL Combine in February that it looked like Thuney was headed elsewhere, with serious interest being shown by Miami, Chicago and the New York Jets. The Pats clearly didn’t want to lose their All-Pro guard, so they brought him back by any means necessary.
By doing so, the Patriots made it impossible to bring in more veteran complementary pieces on both sides of the ball. They clearly needed help at linebacker, receiver, tight end, quarterback and defensive tackle. The Patriots were able to sign a player like quarterback Cam Newton only at the league minimum because that’s all they could afford. They didn’t have money to go out and add a receiver like Robby Anderson or Emmanuel Sanders, which is why they could afford only Damiere Byrd. There was also no chance they could sign a veteran tight end like Austin Hooper or Eric Ebron, so they dipped into the draft with Devin Asiasi and Dalton Keene.
When you look at the dead-cap money, the two numbers that stick out are Brady and Brown.
The Patriots took on a gamble with Brady’s contract in August 2019. It created a situation in which, if the Patriots re-signed Brady before March 18, they would have had a dead cap hit of $6.75 million in 2020 and 2021. The kicker, however, was that if Brady wanted to leave, that cap hit rose to $13.5 million in 2020.
At that point, it wouldn’t have been surprising if the Pats thought Brady would come back. The Patriots tried to do the right thing by giving the greatest quarterback of all time more money but severely limited their 2020 free-agent options by the way that deal was structured.
With Brown, the Patriots shelled out a one-year, $15-million contract, with $10 million in guarantees, for a receiver who was released from the Las Vegas Raiders before even playing a game. That happened after Brown nearly retired due to a dispute over which helmet he could wear. That was after he injured his feet in a cryotherapy mishap.
The Patriots’ decision to give a lot of money to a man who already looked unstable was a questionable one. As is well known, Brown lasted one game before being released amid sexual assault and rape allegations. That gamble cost the Pats $4.5 million that they could have spent in free agency.
THE REASON the Patriots gave so much money to Brown was because of roster-building blunders at the receiver position. This is where the draft comes in and is an important reason why the Patriots are struggling.
Between 2010-2013, the Patriots selected Devin McCourty, Rob Gronkowski, Nate Solder, Chandler Jones, Hightower and Collins in the first two rounds. That created a core of good young players on rookie deals who instantly helped.
Between 2014-2019, the Patriots selected Dominique Easley, Jimmy Garoppolo, Malcom Brown, Jordan Richards, Cyrus Jones, Isaiah Wynn, Sony Michel, N’Keal Harry and Joejuan Williams in the first two rounds. Of that group, Brown, Wynn and Michel have started. But the Patriots haven’t drafted a Pro Bowler since Collins in 2013. Their most successful draft pick since 2014 has been Thuney — their only draft choice who became an All-Pro in that span.
The Pats are in a position where, yes, they’re relying on young, inexperienced players, but it’s fair to criticize the Patriots’ lack of draft success in recent years. Excluding 2020, three of their last four second-round picks are off the roster — Dawson, Jones and Richards. Their 2019 second-rounder, Williams, is barely playing.
So, yes, the Patriots had limited cap space this past offseason. But if they had better young players on rookie deals, it would make up for the fact that they couldn’t afford experienced players. For example, in 2019, the Patriots clearly missed with Harry. Had they selected someone like A.J. Brown, Deebo Samuel, Terry McLaurin or D.K. Metcalf, would this current receiver group look as bad? Had the Patriots’ taken running back Nick Chubb over Michel, would the offense be better? What if they drafted a tight end earlier than 2020? Had they selected Mark Andrews in 2018 instead of Dawson, would this offense be more efficient?
The NFL Draft is a crapshoot. The Patriots built the last half of their dynasty behind players they drafted, such as like McCourty, Gronkowski and Hightower.
When you take the lack of young core pieces and limited cap space, you start to understand why the Patriots started the 2020 season with a 2-5 record.

The NFL’s best remaining free agents, by position
The new league year is here, but not every big name has been signed yet.
The official start to the new NFL league year is here, with a new collective bargaining agreement and all. It also comes at a time when the world is upended by the coronavirus pandemic, but other than changes to travel and locking down team facilities, NFL free agency is continuing unabated.
With the legal tampering period beginning on March 16, many deals were already agreed upon before free agency actually began. Some became official right at 4 p.m. ET when the new league year kicked off, while others have yet to be finalized until teams can conduct physicals. We’ve also seen a high number of franchise tags this offseason, with players like Dak Prescott and Chris Jones sticking with their teams.
Even after all that, there are a slew of free agents looking for a landing spot in 2020. Below, we’ll point you to the best available players at each position, with updates throughout free agency. Note that not every signing is included, namely for players at the bottom of the roster.
Quarterback
Signed: Kyle Allen, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Teddy Bridgewater, Chase Daniel, Blaine Gabbert, Chad Henne, Taysom Hill, Brian Hoyer, Case Keenum, Marcus Mariota, AJ McCarron, Colt McCoy, Sean Mannion, Nick Mullens, Nathan Peterman, Dak Prescott, Philip Rivers, Nate Sudfeld, Ryan Tannehill, P.J. Walker, Jameis Winston
Best available: Blake Bortles, Joe Flacco, Josh McCown, Matt Moore, Cam Newton, Kyle Sloter
A strong group of free agent quarterbacks has been quickly depleted, with Dak Prescott getting the franchise tag and Tom Brady, Teddy Bridgewater, and Marcus Mariota landing with new teams. Cam Newton’s reported release made him a late addition to the list and an intriguing option for teams that. missed out on the first wave of QB signings.
Running Back
Signed: Ameer Abdullah, Peyton Barber, Matt Breida, Kenyan Drake, Austin Ekeler, Melvin Gordon, Todd Gurley, Derrick Henry, Jordan Howard, Kareem Hunt, Dion Lewis, J.D. McKissic, DeAndre Washington, Jeff Wilson
Best available: Devonta Freeman, Frank Gore, Carlos Hyde, LeSean McCoy, Lamar Miller, Ty Montgomery, C.J. Prosise, Wendell Smallwood, Chris Thompson, Jonathan Williams
The value of the running back position continues to swing wildly, but that didn’t stop the Titans from putting the franchise tag on Derrick Henry. Other names like Austin Ekeler and Jordan Howard were quickly locked down, too.
Wide Receiver
Signed: Geronimo Allison, Nelson Agholor, Danny Amendola, Robby Anderson, Travis Benjamin, Kendrick Bourne, DeAndre Carter, Randall Cobb, Keelan Cole, Amari Cooper, Phillip Dorsett, Keelan Doss, Larry Fitzgerald, Devin Funchess, A.J. Green, David Moore, Zach Pascal, Breshad Perriman, Demarcus Robinson, Emmanuel Sanders, Tajae Sharpe, Laquon Treadwell
Best available: Taylor Gabriel, Rashard Higgins, Johnny Holton
We already saw two blockbuster wide receiver trades involving DeAndre Hopkins and Stefon Diggs. The Cowboys didn’t let Amari Cooper hit the open market, as they signed him to a lucrative long-term deal. The Bengals tagged A.J. Green, but that still left some compelling names on the market.
Tight End
Signed: Ross Dwelley, Eric Ebron, Tyler Eifert, Darren Fells, Jimmy Graham, Demetrius Harris, Hunter Henry, Jacob Hollister, Austin Hooper, Blake Jarwin, Marcedes Lewis, Greg Olsen, Quinton Spain, Levine Toilolo, Jason Witten
Best available: Charles Clay, Jordan Reed, Luke Stocker, Geoff Swaim, Delanie Walker
A weak draft class at tight end put a premium on the free agents who became available. Hunter Henry got the franchise tag, while Austin Hooper was quickly snatched up. Veterans Greg Olsen, Jimmy Graham and Jason Witten had no troubles landing with teams, either.
Offensive Line
Signed: Daniel Brunskill, Bryan Bulaga, Anthony Castonzo, Jack Conklin, Rashaad Coward, George Fant, Cam Fleming, Ereck Flowers, Marcus Gilbert Graham Glasgow, Joe Haeg, D.J. Humphries, Joey Hunt, Roderick Johnson, Ted Karras, Alex Lewis, Justin McCray, Connor McGovern, John Miller, Justin Murray, Cedric Ogbuehi, Andrus Peat, Ty Sambrailo, Brandon Scherff, Brandon Shell, Matt Skura, Xavier Su’a-Filo, Joe Thuney, Ricky Wagner, Andrew Whitworth, Elijah Wilkinson, Daryl Williams, Stefen Wisniewski, Andrew Wylie
Best available: Demar Dotson, Cordy Glenn, James Hurst, Ronald Leary, Jason Peters
The Colts held on to left tackle Anthony Castonzo with an extension. Guards Joe Thuney and Brandon Scherff would have been next to new deals, but both received the franchise tag fairly quickly. Still, there’s a lot of beef out there!
Edge
Signed: Mario Addison, Arik Armstead, Shaquil Barrett, Vic Beasley, Ronald Blair, Bud Dupree, Dante Fowler Jr., Rodney Gunter, Bruce Irvin, Quinton Jefferson, Matt Judon, Roy Robertson-Harris, Branden Jackson, Carl Nassib, Yannick Ngakoue, Robert Quinn, Stephen Weatherly, Leonard Williams, Derek Wolfe
Best available: Jadeveon Clowney, Markus Golden, Everson Griffen, Clay Matthews, Cameron Wake
Getting to the quarterback is becoming more and more important as crazy-athletic passers continue to enter the league. The 49ers gave Arik Armstead a huge extension, while the Jaguars were quick to tag Yannick Ngakoue.
Defensive Tackle
Signed: Beau Allen, Andrew Billings, Michael Brockers, Adam Butler, Maliek Collins, Tyeler Davison, Sheldon Day, Brandon Dunn, Javon Hargrave, Shelby Harris, Chris Jones, Linval Joseph, Star Lotulelei, Gerald McCoy, Michael Pierce, Dontari Poe, Mike Purcell, D.J. Reader, Jarran Reed, A’Shawn Robinson, Danny Shelton, Ndamukong Suh, Josh Tupou, Antwaun Woods
Best available: Damon Harrison, Margus Hunt, Brandon Mebane
Chris Jones got the franchise tag, which is unsurprising because of how important he was to the Chiefs’ Super Bowl win. After him, D.J. Reader got a huge contract with the Bengals, and the market is beginning to be pretty depleted.
Linebacker
Signed: Vince Biegel, Jon Bostic, De’Vondre Campbell, Jamie Collins, Brandon Copeland, Thomas Davis, Kyler Fackrell, Leonard Floyd, B.J. Goodson, Jordan Jenkins, Devon Kennard, Christian Kirksey, Nick Kwiatkoski, Sean Lee, Cory Littleton, Blake Martinez, David Mayo, Kevin Minter, Nicholas Morrow, Denzel Perryman, Kevin Pierre-Louis, Reggie Ragland, Elandon Roberts, Joe Schobert, Danny Trevathan, Kyle Van Noy, Nick Vigil, Tahir Whitehead, Kyle Wilber, Eric Wilson
Best available: Mark Barron, Anthony Chickillo, Kareem Martin, Alec Ogletree
There are a lot of tackling machines available this year, even after guys like Jamie Collins, Cory Littleton, Thomas Davis, and Joe Schobert got big deals elsewhere.
Cornerback
Signed: Mackensie Alexander, James Bradberry, Bashaud Breeland, Anthony Brown, Ronald Darby, Michael Davis, Pierre Desir, Grant Haley, Vernon Hargreaves, Chris Harris Jr., Byron Jones, Nevin Lawson, Jalen Mills, Emmanuel Moseley, Brian Poole, Xavier Rhodes, Nickell Robey-Coleman, Bradley Roby, Jimmy Smith, Desmond Trufant, Levi Wallace, Trae Waynes
Best available: Prince Amukamara, Eli Apple, Darqueze Dennard, Johnathan Joseph, Logan Ryan
It’s unbelievable that someone as good as Byron Jones hit the open market, and he wasn’t there for long, signing a megadeal with the Dolphins. There are still quite a few corners worth kicking the tires on, however.
Safety
Signed: Vonn Bell, Tre Boston, Chuck Clark, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Anthony Harris, Jeff Heath, Eddie Jackson, Malcolm Jenkins, Karl Joseph, Devin McCourty, Jordan Poyer, Damarious Randall, Andrew Sendejo, Justin Simmons, Jimmie Ward
Best available: Morgan Burnett, Blake Countess, A.J. Howard, Tony Jefferson, Colin Jones, Reshad Jones, Eric Reid
Several big names at safety, like Devin McCourty, Anthony Harris, and Jimmie Ward, were scheduled to be free agents. Unfortunately for teams in need of safety help, all three are staying put, leaving the next tier of safeties for the rest of the league.
