as a fat crip i'm starting to get real tired of fat ableds reacting to someone being bad about a fat person needing accommodations with "they would never do this if this person was disabled instead!"
because, yes, they would. yes, they do. and it's kind of obvious you haven't been listening to disabled people.
abled people frequently treat us as burdens, are annoyed at us for needing accommodations, are impatient when we take longer to do something, disbelieve us about our disabilities and the extent of them, stop inviting us to events because our needs are "too much" or "too complicated" etc. they especially do it to young people because "young people shouldn't be disabled".
and let's not forget that invisibly disabled people exist! abled people are constantly mean to and about disabled people without knowing the person is disabled.
to act as if fatmisia is somehow more tangible than ableism is absolutely wild to me, especially considering how deeply related the two are.
like, how are you even surprised that people hate disabled people too? where have you been all the years we've talked about this?
this particular thing is very much not exclusive to fat people. it happens to disabled people too on a structural basis and it's worse if you're both fat and disabled. it's entirely unhelpful to try and compare fatmisia and ableism in this way, because while related, they're still two different things, and the way this comparison is worded is just further ableism. ableism isn't less real than fatmisia. our friends, families, doctors and even strangers are often as bad about disability as they are about fatness. instead of acting like ableism is somehow less real or less acceptable nowadays, think about your fat siblings who are also disabled. just because you don't experience ableism or not that particular kind of ableism doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
if you're thinking about saying "they would never say this if this person was [x other marginalised group] instead!", just don't. because you're most likely WRONG.

Maintenance time this month for the nsfw reward, featuring the return of an old character in Klara. I forgot how fun she is to draw, I should really do more with her Uncropped via patreon~
