How are you? How has your day been? I miss you more than words could possibly say. Thinking about you was the only thing that got me through the cold nights in Bastogne - I thought about those nights when we would sit in front of our fireplace and share a hot chocolate. I will never forget the night we opened your letter of acceptance to medical school, we were so excited we spilled the hot chocolate all over the letter!

We just moved from Bastogne to a place called Haguenau. It’s not exactly the Ritz, but it beats sleeping in a foxhole in the snow every night. We’ve been hearing rumors that the war is starting to wind down - I’m so afraid of having false hope, but I can’t stop myself from being excited to come home to the love of my life. I can’t wait to hold you in my arms again, to laugh at the ridiculous jokes that only we understand, to have lazy mornings and adventurous days with you. 

I think what I miss the most is getting to have dinner with you at the end of the day. I always knew, no matter how awful of a day I had, that I was coming home to you - Claire, you are my home. I love getting to just sit with you and hear about your day - how your job went, what the traffic was like on the way home, who you ran into at the post office, my darling I could listen to you talk for hours.

They’re sending some of us out on a patrol tonight to get some German prisoners - I don’t know why, but I have a bad feeling in my gut about it. The war is almost over, do we really need to risk our lives again over something as menial as gathering up a couple of Germans to interrogate? I don’t understand it at all, and I’m worried it’s not going to end well.

I think that is all of the updates I have for you, my love. How is medical school going? Are your professors treating you alright? I’m still so proud of you - I know you worked your ass of to get where you are today. I’m pretty sure the boys here are tired of hearing me talk about you.

I will write to you again as soon as I can, Claire. I love you more than you can imagine. Please be sure to take care of yourself, and don’t have too much fun while I’m gone!

ideas for possible short stories for a second edition of the twisted tales anthology!!

ok so overall i LOVED the anthology, and i'm really hoping that they publish a second anthology with more stories!

so i thought i'd share a few ideas i had for more short stories they could do! i'm including pixar, since brave and ratatouille were included in the anthology, AND brave and the incredibles are getting their own twisted tales book. i'm also including the animal movies, since there was a robin hood and a lion king twisted tale!

Coco Khan: When the rumors started to surface just before the weekend that Channel 4 were going to broadcast a potentially career-ending expose...did you know who it would be?

Nish Kumar: Yes, this is a well known open secret from the comedy circuit. It's been something that's been talked about certainly to my knowledge for at least the last five years. It's something that's been pretty openly discussed in the comedy industry. I think I remember first hearing about it in mid-2017. Subsequent to Dispatches and the Sunday Time expose, Deadline ran a story about an incident that happened on a TV show called Roast Battle where jokes were made referencing Brand being an abuser and they were removed from the broadcast... from that point onwards it was common knowledge...It was discussed by multiple comedians in Edinburgh Fringe shows the following year, in 2018. It was that well known.

Coco: But when you say it was well known like what was well known?

Nish: to be completely honest with you the story that I had heard was relating to a sexual assault it was not covered in the documentary, so it was a very specific and serious allegation. I was not aware of any of the stories in the documentary. I was surprised watching it how far back this had gone.

I think this is a real moment for everybody to consider how this was allowed to happen and how this was allowed to go on for so long.... I think if you look at Russell Brand's IMDB page you see that his television work in Britain starts to dry up around 2018, 2019 and that's simply because increasingly people were just not willing to work with him. Everyone was afraid to talk about it because of the threat of lawsuits... Watching it as a cisgender heterosexual male comedian you feel a certain sense of guilt and a certain sense of complicity because you've been working with production companies and producers who are providing an infrastructure that allows predators to thrive.

There are still people working in comedy who are the subject of open secrets...there are still people working in comedy who people will say 'oh we don't send young women into their dressing rooms'. Now at that stage for me you should be sacked... if you can't have someone be around young women they have no place in any kind of workplace.
