Ai (愛), a famous Japanese word meaning "love."

Yes, I know it has multiple readings, but stick with me here.

Having the general meaning of "love" with connotations of affection and even agape (in fact, it's used that way in a certain faith), it can become a massive force.

A source of power for your favorite Magical Girl or battle anime hero, the driving force behind many a romcom and romance plot (sub or otherwise).

We idol fans are familiar with "love," especially since it drives our very hobby and surrounding subculture.

(Love is what's kept this ship floating in the midst of the massive hellscape around us.)

Since it's such a driving force, it has since become the nom personnel of many an idol.

So...

For the purposes of the poll (and because there was only so much space in Tumblr polls), this focuses on members whose names contain "Ai" or whose name was crafted specifically to evoke it (which is why Aibon is there).

Count me in with those who didn't know °C-ute had a rivarly with that group SweetS but after reading about SweetS, it seems natural that they would be a rival group. I never liked the Berryz vs. °C-ute rivarly TBH, I saw them as sister groups through and through and I just wanted to enjoy their friendship. Their style never comparable to each other. °C-ute was always more girly and later sexy while Berryz was more cool and silly/fun, maybe even tomboyish. It did made me sad that only °C-ute started getting more polished music videos and more creative concert sets, and seeing the overseas fandom bash Berryz and always pit them against °C-ute was awful but I always loved both groups on their own. Berryz should have been rivals with a group with more similar style. Or as the song Rival says, Berryz' Rival should have always been only themselves. So I wanted more friendly collabs between Berikyuu.
