I was a little surprised getting on here today and seeing all the very emotional rants about Pedro not winning awards. As someone who has worked in the industry:

The actual award is for YOU, the audience, the fans. These awards shows are there to make money, you realize that, right? If your favorite person didn't win an award, the person who feels the most hurt is you, not the celebrity.

Because I assure you, the real award is the nomination. That's the actual recognition. That's what puts you on a list that people look at and say, "huh. I should go watch that show." That's what gets the industry to look at you and say "people like this actor, because they're really good, and I will pay top dollar to get them in my production."

I saw a post today that was worried that Pedro would now be taking high profile jobs rather than little indie ones he wants to do just so he can get an award. What? That's not how an actor works--it may be how their agent tries to steer their career, but in the end, it's the actor who says "I want to work on this story/with these people/for this director." They know which projects will bring them satisfaction first and Pedro's been really racking up some top notch projects and directors lately. He's having a BALL. Awards are just a byproduct of that. Just by the nominations, Pedro is pushed to the front of the world's attention and he will be swarmed with offers. Don't you worry.

The award statuette is shiny for a reason. It looks good on tv. Audiences remember it.

But as far as career and love are concerned, Pedro has won. It disturbs me to see people out here trying to console--"your time will come, Pedro!"--but not understanding that HIS TIME IS NOW.

I find it so funny in Ace Attorney that they attribute the dark age of the law with Phoenix being disbarred for forgery. Attorneys are getting put away for murder left right and center. Attorney Von Karma found guilty of killing another attorney, adopting his son, and then attempting to frame that son for murder. Thats ok. Attorney Godot found guilty of murder! We've got Large Scale murder and conspiracy with Attorney Lana Skye and co, Attorney Calipso Yew is found to be dealing with a drug ring? Attorney Blackquill has been in jail for years. BUT. World's blorbo lawyer Mr. Wright accused of forgery?? 1000 years dark ages for the law.

I do love that they're right at the finale of Sophomore Year and they're all so mindblown by the twists that the audience figured out as soon as we heard about the transubstantiations. Brennan has been trying to spell this out for them every chance he gets through the whole season and he's FINALLY able to just fucking tell them and they look so flabbergasted.
