#Burger King mega salads

“Uh, I’ll have two McGriddles, a McGriddle large, 40 nuggets with extra dip, a Grand Mac, two McLegends, one with cheese, and a large Coke.”
The screen informs you that your order has been accepted and you roll your car forward to the payment window. A hugely thick arm extends from the window to present the card reader to you. You’re still trying to get your card out of your pocket, sweating and breathless from the exertion. The woman holding the card machine looks like she’s about to pass out herself, all 600 pounds of her wedged painfully into the window bay. You finally get the card out and onto the reader, she mumbles something but it’s hard to make out with the fries in her mouth. You get to the next window and two hugely obese men are daisy chaining the multitude of bags to you. You manage to cram them past your bulging chest, pressing the horn a couple of times by mistake. You’d have said thank you if you weren’t gasping for breath.
As you drive away your McWatch buzzes to remind you that its time for brunch, asking if you’ve tried the new bacon double egg and triple sausage quad cheese bagel and you pull over into the car park to enjoy your bunch break. You park your car in between two other brunchers who are indulging in equally gargantuan meals. You notice the woman next to you is surreptitiously eating a salad. You roll your window up in disgust at the sight of green leaves and she notices the contempt on your face, hangs her head in shame and starts her engine. She drives away sucking on a milkshake, her eyes welling up from the embarrassment.
You can’t quite lean forward enough to see it in it’s entirety, but a skyvert for the new KFC quintuple stack deluxe mix bucket with seven cheese coleslaw is making your mouth water, even as the burger sauce and grease drips down your chin from your 5th burger.
You feel claustrophobic from being crammed into your tight SUV and you think you’re getting chest pains again. You try to adjust your seat, but it’s already gone back as far as it can. You notice your belt buckle is digging in so far it’s almost engulfed by your massive belly. You attempt to undo it but your fat fingers can’t get in between the fat rolls at this angle. Beginning to panic, you notice the chest pains are getting worse. You down half a gallon of coke to try to ease it but the sugar buzz has just given you a thumping headache and soon you’re getting that telltale tingle in your left arm. Gasping for breath, you reach into the glovebox for the defibrillator and give yourself a few volts just to get your heartbeat back to normal. You’re not really sure it helped but you feel better and are able to finish your brunch.
You notice someone else a few cars away clearly has a flat battery from over using their defibrillator, as two portly paramedics and an RAC mechanic on a mobility scooter have shown up to help them out. The guy is so busy worrying about how he’s going to get to the hospital if he can’t fit in the ambulance that he hasn’t even noticed his Deliveroo guy standing there waiting to hand over a delicious looking grease stained bag of Five Guys.
Beep beep. You fumble for your phone, the grease on the cracked screen showing up in the sunlight. The Burger King app shows you a notification. Your weekly loyalty reward has come through, a double triple stack XL mega cheese whopper is free if you buy a large double triple stack XL mega cheese whopper meal and any dessert. You look at the time, it’s almost lunch and you know how busy that drive through gets. Better get moving. You might even get there faster if only you could feel which pedals your feet are on.

55. Ik heb tenminste een fiets
30/03/2020
Hmmm 🤔.
Tumblr media
Ah, mijn leraar is er, dus ineens veranderde mijn scherm, want Zoom doet automatisch full screen. We gaan dus over een kwartiertje of zo beginnen.
(Ah, King Princess’s bekendste nummer: 1950. Hierdoor kent Harry Styles haar muziek.)
Anyway, B&T.
(Troye Sivan’s What A Heavily Way To Die is best wel sad.)
(Panic! At The Disco’s The End of All Things!
(Sam Smith’s Too Good At Goodbyes. Ahhh.)
(Catey Shaw’s stem klinkt zo goed in Night Go Slow. Of iemand anders. Merel?)
Nu is het Let It Be.)
(Mary Lambert’s She Keeps Me Warm is anders dan in haar YouTube versie.
Haha. “Even”.
Full circle.

Headcanons/Tag yourself: Fast Food Edition
Endou: he still goes to McDonald and orders an Happy Meal to get the new toys. “How much money do you have?” “0,69 cents” “heh, you know what that means?” Him, crying “I don’t have enough money for chicken nuggets”
Kazemaru: doesn’t really care for the brand, he’s not a big fan of fast food anyway and goes only for his friends. He’d probably order just a chicken salad and some still water. Stay healthy.
Gouenji: the Five Guys’s Little Cheeseburger with added jalapeños, green peppers and hot sauce. He eats it like an ice cream cone on the go with a perfectly normal face. Once a guy asked to give it a bite. He let him. The guy died.
Kidou: professes to hate fast food because those places are always so greasy and full of annoying people. Proceeds to order two solid buckets of Popcorn Nuggets from KFC to binge eat while studying for an exam.
Fudou: loves Wendy’s for the mean/sassy attitude. He’s not a big fan of hamburgers so he just orders French Fries Chili&Cheese and a Cream Soda Float, ‘cause it’s easier to sit in a corner and judge other customers, full Wendy’s style, while biting finger sized food.
Someoka: he ain’t afraid of sizes, he ain’t no fucking coward, so XT Steakhouse from Burger King with the biggest diet coke you’ve ever seen PLUS fries. Wins every “Chug it down” contest with his friends, NO REGRETS JUST CHUG CHUG CHUG!
Fubuki: did he just order the biggest size of regular fries with a McFlurry with M&M’S? Did he just put the fries IN THE MCFUCKINFLURRY? Yes. Yes he did. Stay away, beast of Satan.
Tsunami: he will forever bless the day Subway was born alongside its Shrimp&Avocado special ‘cause... avocado and shrimp! By the sea!! In two goes!!! This is fun!!!! Oh dear lord save him he’s going to choke!!!!!
Tachimukai: takes an Happy Meal with normal Cheeseburger, Apple Slices and fruit juice. Cries if they forgot to throw away the pickles. Pickles are mean!
Hiroto: Hawaiian at Pizza Hut. “Pineapples does belong on pizza!” (And you belong out of this house, I trusted you Hiroto and this is how you repay me?) Everyone stopped trying to make him see reason, he’d just smile and bite that abomination down anyway...
Midorikawa: Ebi Rice Burger. Yeah, an hamburger made not with bread and beef but with rice and prawns, because why should he EVER let go of traditional-like tastes and quality even when it comes to fast food? No reason, that’s why. Quality over quantity!
Tobitaka: kinda always sits in a corner when he’s dragged there by his friends, giving everyone the silent treatment because he thinks the chefs of fast foods are sloppy. Yeah he believes there’s an actual chef in the kitchen and once asked to speak to him about seasoning. He doesn’t fully grasp the concept of “fast food”.
Toramaru: never went to a fast food in his whole life. A sad life, but a healthy one at least! He does take pictures with The Colonel of KFC ‘cause he kinda looks like Santa tho...
Sakuma: he’ll always ONLY take the desserts. Five at a time it’s the lowest he has ever got and you don’t want to know the highest, really. Someone please forbid him to ingest all that sugar!
Genda: he only ever goes into a McDonald when he’s late for school and forgot to have breakfast. He’d politely ask for a double espresso with a Mega McMuffin (‘cause he really loves eggs for some reason) and calmly watch as the slow employee proceeds to ruin his schedule. But it’s fine. He’ll run. No hard feelings. At all.
Afuro: /points at menu’s direction “I’ll take that” “sir, that’s the whole menu” “I know what I’m about, son”. He’s part of the disgusting eat-everything-without-getting-fat category. Absolutely disrespectful of everyone’s else feelings while eating all that food on his king sized bed and watching some teen drama.
Domon: always ever spotted, in any fast food chain, late at night and only for take aways. He’ll always asks for their soup because he loves the sheer horror on the employee’s faces when they remember that there is no soup because NO ONE ever orders soup

37 DIY Meal Kits To Make Your Housemates Shout “Oui Chef” added to Google Docs
37 DIY Meal Kits To Make Your Housemates Shout “Oui Chef”
A month ago you entered lockdown, and your kitchen, with the naive enthusiasm of a first round Masterchef contestant. You were going to make ravioli, sous vide a carrot, and shower Barry from Eastenders - your firstborn sourdough starter - with warmth and affection. Fast forward to now, and things look very different. You’ve been banned from flour after Scarface-ing the kitchen, and Barry from Eastenders has been lost to the black hole, a.k.a. the top shelf of the fridge. Thankfully, there are plenty of excellent London restaurants able to give you a helping hand with a DIY meal kit. From pizza to pasta, here are 36 options to make you feel like a pro in your PJs.
Featured In The Ultimate London Delivery & Takeaway Guide See all our guides THE SPOTS  Bao £ £ £ £ Taiwanese  in  Soho ££££ 53 Lexington St
You’re hopeful. You’re sweating. You refresh the webpage every ten seconds. No, we’re not talking about trying to secure Glastonbury tickets, we’re talking about trying to get your hands on Bao’s DIY kits. Although they’re incredibly popular, it’s worth a little organisation to secure one of their classic pork bao kits and maybe (definitely) one of their umeshu negroni cocktail pouches too. Orders go live every Monday at noon.
 Smokestak £ £ £ £ BBQ  in  Shoreditch ££££ 35 Sclater St
The closest you’ve ever come to ‘mastering the kitchen’ is that time you played Mr Bumble in your primary school rendition of Oliver Twist. Luckily, the Smokestak meal kits look pretty foolproof. As well as meaty finish-at-home feasting boxes, they’re also delivering DIY bun kits including their beef brisket. Plus, there’s cocktails and sticky toffee pudding too.
 Dishoom £ £ £ £ Indian  in  Covent Garden ££££ 12 Upper St Martin’s Ln
We hate the queues to get into Dishoom. What do we like about Dishoom? Pretty much everything else. Especially their little breakfast champ, the bacon naan. Now you can eat it at home with their DIY kit. It’s packed full of dough and bacon. It looks relatively easy to master. And, it’s being delivered nationwide. Pre-order on their website.
 Luca £ £ £ £ Italian  in  Clerkenwell ,  Farringdon ££££ 88 St John St
This upmarket Italian restaurant near Smithfield Market, ships meal kits and deli boxes out Friday and Saturday every week across north and east London. The deli box is just £49 and contains a bottle of Prosecco and an array of salumi. Meanwhile, the £80 Italian feasting kit for two contains everything you need for a big night in, from antipasti, and a pasta primi, through secondi like glazed beef cheeks, contorni, and dessert.
Karolina Wiercigroch Berenjak £ £ £ £ Middle Eastern  in  Soho ££££ 27 Romilly Street
Considering we regularly polish off an entire pizza, a loaf of garlic bread, and an entire tub of ice cream on our lonesome, it takes a lot for us to label something a feast. But that’s exactly what Berenjak is delivering in their kebab meal kit. For £25 you get a huge selection of lamb and chicken kebabs, skewers, salad, their excellent bread, and some mast-o-musir. Whether you fire up that new barbie or keep it casual with the oven is up to you, either way you can order here.
Lahpet £ £ £ £ Burmese  in  Shoreditch ,  Spitalfields ££££ 58 Bethnal Green Road
This cute and casual Burmese spot is delivering dinner hampers, noodle kits, and DIY salad situations. If you’re wondering what a salad is, it’s something you used to eat before your diet solely consisted of gin and ‘one more jammy dodger’. Expect ginger salads, a tea leaf number, coconut noodles, paratha, and importantly, margaritas.
Legare £ £ £ £ Italian  in  London Bridge ££££ 31 Shad Thames
Shad Thames Italian spot Legare is delivering Legare-at-Home, a four course dinner for two. You get a freshly baked focaccia and spuntini, a selection of seasonal antipasti, and your choice of fresh pasta which requires some finishing at home. There’s also dessert and amaretti biscuits included. The regular kit costs £48, but you’re a premium person so you should probably get their premium kit. For just a tenner more it comes with a secondi which changes every week, but if you’re thinking of a slow braised lamb shank with beans and gremolata, then you’re on the right tracks.
 Monty's Deli £ £ £ £ Deli  in  Covent Garden ££££ 35 Earlham St

Tips for eating healthy at restaurants
Tips for eating healthy at restaurants. We are a pot city market, it’s been a while, i feel like a lot of our old logs. We used to come here because it’s like beautiful and we get like cool shots, but we’re here to surprise a good friend of ours suzanne. You know her probably keto karma, i’m hoping she’s impressed by my easy boosts. My brother got them for me for my birthday and walking on clouds the best gift unexpectedly. I never knew i wanted them. I want them a full day of eating. You guys saw that.
I had my morning, coffee after pilates i like to go to starbucks and get my get both of us coffees and i had a tbsp of ghee in it and a scoop of mct oil powder and it was half caf. So not a ton of caffeine and then you want to share what you had. I had a coffee with cream and i have ceo here he has my creams falling out with his michigan hat. Here’s pop city – yes, oh this is like where all the young kids hang out. They got the soulcycle. I winery a lot of overpriced stuff.
Here we went to the rooftop bar once remember: yeah, very overrated. I would say yeah everything’s over right in here. I’m here with my easy’s, we just chatted with suzanne seos crying. She was about to start her cooking demo segment she’s, like touring williams-sonoma all over the country. How cool is that every night, whereas strolling pot city to see what they have to eat, we just saw suzanne and ceo aren’t doing so hot, so we’re gonna stay the entire time. We just circled pond city, not a lot of great options for food, so yeah bill time, though oh we did get built on you guys saw.
I got a little b-roll will show you up close and personal in the car and do a taste test. As a bird, we went to el super-pan, oh loic, side. It looks very sad, it’s terrible. What is this expensive to do not eat at the ponzi market? This is like a build-your-own salad type of thing, there’s like weird cauliflower is in it, and it’s supposed to be like some mexican seasoned chicken. This was $ 14 $ 14. What a ripoff, oh and another thing is no dressing for the salad.
It’s going to be vegetable, oils, 90 percent of the time, and then we got the biltong. We’ll show you that’s going to destroy this. Oh, it feels so fatty and rich. Yes, bad-boy whoa what up-to-date very disappointing lunch, but i stole some napkins, some forks and some straws for the car. So that was probably that lunch for me was like 200 calories. It was all i ate was the chicken and the pickled jicama no dressing. They didn’t even cut up the lettuce.
Oh let’s not dwell on the past yeah onward, because i got my built own coming. Where is it oh yeah? So we are now just gonna head back and then we also have dinner plans. So we got a full day of eating out. I guess yeah barely ever do this. I know so i think yeah. I got starbucks this morning, wow full day of eating. Ah yes, but are usually eat. The biltong i’ll probably need a snack five calories. So we got these, which are like drummers style biltong,
so i’m probably gonna have like one of these one big ones, and then these are kind of hard to see. But it’s like just normal biltong with the fat on so they’re kind of fatty i’ll, probably have a good bit of those too, like two ounces, so we just got home and i’m gonna have one of these keto cups. They are both fat to protein 7. Total carbs and then 5 fiber, so 2 net carbs.
So that’s what they look like. It just looks like a reese’s cup, really dark chocolate, oh and not sweet, even though they have a little month route, so not for everyone, but we really like them and we get them the hazelnut flavor, though, if you see that in stores that’s the best flavor, it’s good, so we have a dinner date for 5 p.m. Yeah, it’s 2 p.m. Right. Now i filled up on the. What does that biltong nona salad, even throw up on that, so it’s terrible. The biltong was good, though, but we’re going to a steak house for dinner. So that’s always good. Well victim be wrong right here we are heading to the steakhouse megas driving matt can get his reading in yeah.
I was trying to get my reading in, but it’s hard to read in the car, so this is the book i’m on right now the british are coming about the american revolution very thick and dense, but it’s pretty good. I, like it, videos chillin we’re going to a steakhouse. It’s called capitol grill. This is like nationwide chain, it’s very bumpy yeah. It’s pretty good! We’ve been there once before. I think for my birthday steak, outsides, a lot of them are keto-friendly, mushrooms asparagus, broccoli, yeah yeah, i’m usually looking for the mushrooms at a steak house, so we’ve been getting on fridays about a month ago.
We did a smoothie king video when they have ketose smoothies. Now we love them, get them all the time now. Well, we get them fridays cuz, they do $ 5 friday. So it’s the 32 ounces for $ 5 when normally the 20 ounce is like six. Something yeah we go-to music for the pup, so theo goes to music class and smoothie kings like five minutes down the road. So you just hit him both pretty good, that’s good yeah! I normally. I didn’t make the best order, but i got sea bass. It was so good and i was just taking a simple broth with like really well seasoned, mushrooms and asparagus. It was perfect. Mine was just a steak. I how big was it? I think it was like 14 ounces or something i didn’t finish at all.
I probably had ten ounces of it. Yeah, and mine was eight ounces and i ate all of it, and mine was like crusted with coffee. I think, and there was like a shallot sauce and we had mushrooms since we ate all of our meals out today. I thought we would have the top five tips for eating out what you should think about when you’re buying a keto meal. So i guess the most apparent first thing is like just finding something: that’s low carb, it’s a little hard! It’s not that hard. So in that place there was like a hamburger place. It was just a big wait,
so we didn’t get that and there was a terrible salad bowl place. Yes, how’s that right, but it sounded exciting and you we could get a salad bowl, so salad, bowls, boneless, burgers, cuz, we’re debating just getting chipotle on the way home, yeah and well there’s like a million times better than that place yeah. But sometimes we like to take a risk and it never pays off so don’t taste take a risk, that’s like the actual ultimate cool boneless, burgers wings, salad, bowls breakfast items are gon na, be like omelets, just eggs and bacon and stuff grilled chickens, like just anything. Grilled, when we were looking at the salad bowls, we were trying to decide like if this,
if the meats gonna be like grilled or fried or something what kind of oils are gonna be cooked in yeah, just the oils in general, salad dressings, we opted no salad dressing and we got chicken that we knew wasn’t gonna, be like pan-fried. Whenever you’re eating out it’s almost impossible to get quality fat. It’s like very hard like you’re eating at fast-food restaurants. They have packets of butter. It’s not even real butter. Most of the stuff is soybean oil or just like vegetable oils.
It’s really hard to find a place that you’re gonna be able to get like a couple of tablespoons of animals julius has dressed this bone, but yeah it’s hard to find good quality fat. So that’s another thing, think about like where the fats coming from yeah. So two things on that. There’s this really good breakfast place. I like to go to new year’s, and one time i got a cop’s out there i was like. Oh, can i just have a side of olive oil and they look? We don’t have that, and i was like this is a bit like breakfast restaurant establishment and on the second thing was, i didn’t, show you, but in my bag, like my baby bag, so you can carry your purse.
I had a packet of avocado oil tip number three, looking at the menu beforehand, a lot of times, i like to look at pictures to see what this dish looks like it’s worth, going: yeah yeah! If it’s a dish that i’ll actually like, i like the yelp pictures, because it’s people just like you know, with a phone taking a picture of exactly what they were served so today, i was trying to keep more track like i knew that the sea bass would be perfect, and so that’s i just knew going into like the entire experience. I was gonna get sea bass, and so, if you have it planned out,
you’re not looking tyst manage no, you have planned. Oh, i knew what i wanted. Oh, i always look at the menu beforehand. Tip number four talking to your waiter, i would say i asked my waiter exactly how many ounces my seat, sea bass was. You can ask me: what’s in the sauces, ask for things on the side. There was like a miso butter and i don’t know what that is, and so i was like is that coming on the side like what is the miso butter? And he explained the entire dish? Number five, i’m gonna say, use clues on the menu a lot of times. There will be most all restaurants. Now they put the gluten-free sign, gf yeah.
So if like today, we were at the place getting the terrible salad bowl and there was like chicken. There was pork and then there was like pork belly and i was like okay, pork belly. That’s gonna be probably my first choice. Everything was gluten-free, except for the pork belly, so i knew they’re like dipping it in some flour, pan-frying it or maybe deep-frying it did you yeah,
you didn’t tell me you should have been like that’s not wooden for ya. I didn’t know. You asked me what you would, he would just like. Let me eat a thousand carbs without like telling me that there’s carbs in there ya know. So that’s the main clue. I mean they also list the calories. I mean a lot of times. They’ll put like soy allergy to, i think, a lot of fast-food restaurants places it deep fry. They usually tell you the oil,
because people have allergies to a lot of the commonly used oils or, if you’re like aryan, peanut yeah, if you’re vegetarian. So you can use clues to kind of figure out what’s going on with the menu a lot of the time that was five, but i wanna give a bonus, bring a dessert with you if you’re, like a dessert person, yeah car ride home. Do this a lot yeah, i don’t like it. You surprised me with that yeah, our friends. We were out with allie and shontelle and allie he’s like. I must have dessert after every single meal kind of person and a lot of people are like that, and so,
if you’re like that – and you know you’re going to a place. They’re not gonna have an option because they probably not bring a bar with you, bring dark chocolate with you so on the car ride home. You have that and then, when you get home you’re, not just like alright, what can i go grab right now and then you’re in the kitchen? And it’s just like a big fiasco. If you’re, like you know if night snacking is an issue, so just have your dessert ready in the car eating it on the way.

An Eater's Guide to Seattle
Table Of Contents
Welcome to the land of Local
Everywhere you turn in Seattle, you're greeted by mountains, lakes, and the Puget Sound. There's fresh salmon flown in from Alaska, sushi galore, and an absolute glut of Hawaii's favorite raw fish salad, poke. Washington state is also home to some of the country's most fertile soil, which means incredible produce, a thriving wine scene, and even a case to be made that barbecue, thanks to lovely livestock, is better here than in Texas. Just as importantly, the region's cuisine is influenced heavily by a history of Asian immigration, which is why everything from fried chicken hot spots to fancy restaurants call back to Vietnam, Japan, China, Korea, and more.
As far as single item food experiences go, don't miss oysters at Taylor Shellfish Farm, handmade-noodle pho at Ba Bar, tajarin pasta with butter and sage sauce at Cascina Spinasse, dumplings at Dough Zone, deep-dish pizza at Windy City Pie (and sourdough deep-dish at sibling Breezy Town Pizza), and the hot oil biang biang at Miah's Kitchen, roving restaurant critic Bill Addison's "most profound noodle revelation."
Where to Start on Eater Seattle's Top Maps
As you know, Eater puts out oodles of maps detailing the top places and things to eat and drink in Seattle. Below, we cherry pick the top points on our most popular maps to help time-starved eaters prioritize which spots to visit.

Hot Restaurant: The hottest of the hot right now is Dingfelder's Delicatessen, eventually a full restaurant but currently a walk-up window for traditional Jewish deli fare like pastrami and corned beef sandwiches, half-sour pickles, and chopped chicken liver. It's one of a new wave of Jewish restaurants in the works to fill a void that's existed in Seattle for far too long.
Essential Restaurant: If you need to narrow down the Essential 38, head to Capitol Hill for Renee Erickson's Bateau, which may very well be the finest steakhouse in the nation. Venture north to Ravenna and Junebaby for Edouardo Jordan's deeply personal, immensely satisfying take on American Southern cuisine, or try the city's juiciest soup dumplings and buns at one of Dough Zone Dumpling House's five locations.
Bars: Seattle takes its cocktails seriously. One of the most exciting of the new contenders is Fremont's funky Stampede Cocktail Club. As for longer-standing options, one of the best is Stateside sibling Foreign National, whose inventive use of Asian ingredients made it a clear choice for an Eater Award in 2016; other essential bars to seek out include nationally renowned Canon. Navy Strength is a must-try for modern tiki, and Eater Seattle's award winner for Bar of the Year in 2017, Alchemy, is an adventurous jaunt in West Seattle. There are also wine bars galore, like the lovely French Le Caviste, and hopheads will want to geek out at the city's top beer bars, including Chuck's Hop Shop.
Breweries: There's been an exciting proliferation of strong breweries throughout Seattle in recent years, but one standout is a must-visit: Holy Mountain, with its constantly changing menu of off-beat, barrel-aged beers, all impeccable. And Cloudburst, just north of Pike Place Market, is a masterful maker of dank IPAs.
Poke: Even as the poke craze calms, the Hawai'ian specialty of raw marinated fish remains a favorite Seattle dish, and the top purveyors are worth revisiting time and time again. Your best bets are places like the surprisingly satisfying and wildly popular phenomenon that is 45th Stop N Shop and Poke Bar and the restaurants and food trucks named after the Godfather of Poke himself, Sam Choy's Poké to the Max.
Brunch: The humble bacon-and-eggs midday meal has been elevated to an art form here. Capitol Hill's Wandering Goose does it impeccably, as does West Seattle's Ma'ono Chicken and Whiskey.
Coffee: Experience Seattle's essentials, head to the Eastside for the top spots there, or hit up the hottest additions to the city's famed scene. Stop by Italian espresso machine-expert La Marzocco's first-ever cafe and showroom to try the month's roaster-in-residence, hit up any of Slate Coffee Roasters' three meticulous shops to geek out, then ease into the evening sipping a glass of natural wine alongside your coffee at Vif, which feels like it deserves to be the fourth wave of coffee.
Views: In this fetching city surrounded by mountains and water and evergreen trees, dining with a view is a must. Take the water taxi across Elliott Bay to dine on Hawaiian-Korean creations at Marination Ma Kai or nab an Adirondack chair on the north end of Lake Union for Mediterranean-inspired fare with a skyline view at Westward. You'll also want to keep track of the city's best patios for bright summer days.
Seattle Food 'Hoods To Know
These are the key areas of the city every self-proclaimed food-lover has got to survey — complete with what to eat and drink in each.

Ultra-hip and oh-so-trendy, Capitol Hill is Seattle's proud LGBTQ capital and a rare beacon of late-night revelry. Now, along with nearby South Lake Union, it's also the epicenter of the city's ongoing development boom. Along with all the sleek new condo buildings come restaurants, new bumping up against the old. See some of the finest options in our neighborhood guide. The most relevant spots right this minute include Bateau, Stateside, and Foreign National, though you should also add the fried chicken sandwich and boozy ginger beer purveyor Rachel's Ginger Beer to your list, along with international street food-inspired Nue, ever-popular Malaysian spot Kedai Makan, and renowned Thai nook Little Uncle.

As diverse a neighborhood as you'll find in the city, the ID or CID (whose full name is Chinatown International District) is home to Chinatown, Japantown, and Little Saigon, with all the wonderful cuisines those represent and more; see our neighborhood dining guide for tons of great options. In particular, fans of noodles should seek out the satisfying cheap eats at King Noodle, the lunch-, weekday-, cash-only favorite Thai Curry Simple, or the obscure ramen deal at Tsukushinbo, only available Fridays for lunch. Dip dumplings in soup at Mike's Noodle House, try spicy wontons at Gourmet Noodle Bowl, or admire the unusually-long pan-fried potstickers at Szechuan Noodle Bowl. And don't miss Huong Binh Vietnamese Cuisine's perfectly grilled pork, as well as the affordable lunch boxes and barbecue pork banh mi at Saigon Vietnam Deli.

Ballard:
Once a rough-and-tumble fishing village, Ballard has changed a lot since it was annexed into Seattle city limits in 1907. The neighborhood — mapped out for your dining convenience here — straddles the line between modern development and the preservation of its early history, a sort of lens into what's playing out across the city as a whole. There's plenty worth eating here, including upscale newcomer Copine, which focuses on elegant French preparations of Northwest ingredients; seafood-focused oyster bar the Walrus and the Carpenter; wood-fired pizza perfectionist Delancey; and Caribbean sandwich restaurant Un Bien. Not hungry yet? Work up an appetite while watching the salmon run in the fish ladder at the Ballard Locks. Ballard's year-round Sunday farmers market is a treat, too.
Other indispensable neighborhood guides:
West Seattle, Georgetown, Pioneer Square, Wallingford, Columbia City, Green Lake, U District, Beacon Hill, Federal Way, Tacoma, Tacoma's Lincoln District, and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
Seattle Glossary of Terms
Seattle Hot Dog:
It's a hot dog or sausage slathered in — wait for it — cream cheese and grilled onions. No one knows quite why. Verdict: surprisingly good. Sorry, Philadelphia, you missed out big time on this innovation. Want to try the most extravagant version in the city? It's Renee Erickson's salmon roe-coated homage at dramatic bar Deep Diveunderneath the Amazon Spheres.
Geoduck:
Pronounced "gooey duck," this is an enormous, coveted clam that shocks newcomers with its phallic appearance. Take a deep dive on this bizarre, beloved Pacific Northwest native, and look out for it at places like Lark, How to Cook a Wolf, and Sushi Kashiba.
Teriyaki:
This sticky-sweet Japanese-American dish is a Seattle specialty, popularized by Toshihiro Kasahara at Toshi's Teriyaki Restaurant in the 1970s. You can still find Kasahara north of the city at Toshi's Teriyaki Grill (16212 Bothell Everett Hwy, Mill Creek); you can do your laundry while pairing doughnuts and teriyaki at King Donuts and Teriyaki and Laundromat, which closed briefly before being reopened by new owners; or you can devour a teriyaki chicken burger at one of Katsu Burger's growing number of fusion joints.
Starbucks:
Just kidding — sorta. Sure, you know the mega-chain got its start in Seattle, and you probably don't need to check out Starbucks' faux-riginal location in Pike Place Market (the true original was nearby at the corner of Western and Virginia). But do check out the company's sexy, modern, copper-plated Reserve Roastery and Tasting Room on Capitol Hill (1124 Pike Street), where fresh specialty beans are piped directly to baristas serving a variety of intriguing concoctions, with or without syrups and whipped creams. The space is even home to a full bar, and a high-end Italian bakery called Princi has taken up residence to ply customers with flaky cornetti and other breads and pastries baked fresh all day, every day. It's certainly impressive.
Canlis:
Courtesy of Brian Canlis
You don't make friends with salad — unless it's the Canlis Salad. [Photo: Courtesy of Brian Canlis]
Old-school yet relevant, Canlis is Seattle's classic white-tablecloth, fine-dining, dress-code restaurant. It's still owned and operated by the Canlis family, and it's still setting the benchmark for quality and service in the city. One of the only permanent menu fixtures, the Canlis salad, is an icon; the rest of the menu rotates, showcasing local ingredients tinged with Asian flavors, a mark of the powerful influence that immigrants have had on the region's cuisine.
Renee Erickson:
A recent James Beard Award-winner, this chef channels rustic European country cooking by way of seasonal Pacific Northwest ingredients in her bright, airy, elegant spaces. She runs some of the city's most adored restaurants, including mobbed oyster bar the Walrus and the Carpenter, wood-fired Whale Wins, innovative steakhouse Bateau, and even a darling doughnut shop called General Porpoise.
Shiro Kashiba:
A legend in his own right, this beloved chef trained with Jiro Ono (of Jiro Dreams of Sushi) before defining sushi culture in Seattle over the past 50 years and counting. He spent early days at Maneki (still an unbeatable dining experience more than 100 years after its inception) and other spots, pioneering the use of local seafood, then two decades at namesake Shiro's. Finally, after the world's shortest retirement, Kashiba returned to the counter in late 2015 at Pike Place Market's Sushi Kashiba, an incredible ode to fresh fish.

Dear Chains Serving Fancy Fries: Disco Those Fries or GTFO
Apparently it’s the year of the sauce-slathered french fry. As Forbes points out, in recent months, several fast-food chains have launched competitors to Wendy’s Baconator fries (aka french fries topped with cheese sauce, shredded cheddar, and bacon) and Taco Bell’s Nacho Fries, which top the deep-fried potatoes with ground meat, nacho cheese sauce, sour cream, and chopped tomatoes. Per Forbes, relatively new to the dance floor are Jack In the Box’s “Sauced and Loaded” varieties (one version has bacon and cheese), Taco Bell’s “Steak Rattle Fries” (with steak, jalapeños, and two sauces), and McDonald’s non-potato doughnut fries, which are officially called “Donut Sticks” to avoid comparisons with Dunkin’ Donuts’ version but certainly designed to evoke a classic french fry.
What these fast-food chains have inexplicably neglected to add, however, is this country’s best iteration of a fries-with-topping dish (sorry, Pittsburgh salad) — disco fries, which New Jersey diner devotees will recognize as french fries topped with brown gravy and melted cheese. Disco fries are poutine without the squeak of cheese curds; remove that textural distraction and it’s easy to imagine each bite as the perfect mashed potato, only slightly crispy and doused in cheese. Thanks to New Jersey’s Italian-American population, most people would recognize mozzarella as the de facto disco fry cheese, but I can confidently attest that other variants — cheddar, provolone, gruyere, American — work just as well, so long as it’s properly melted into the gravy. (I have a soft spot in my heart for disco fries featuring full slices of Kraft American on top, gently wilted under a broiler but still retaining its square form.)
And like its close cousin, chili cheese fries, most disco fries don’t bother with wan vegetable garnishes like a diced tomato or a pinch of parsley. Gravy. Cheese. Potato. That’s all you need.
So it’s particularly surprising that no fast-food chain — all of which have cheese easily on hand — has launched disco fries onto its menu. KFC, with brown gravy and cheese sauce already featuring prominently in its side dishes, would be the most likely contender — in lieu of french fries, it has seasoned potato wedges that could act as the base. (The wedges, however, would likely not have quite the crisp that a regular fry adds, so there’s a risk of this tasting like a baked potato.) Arby’s, which already features mozzarella, cheese sauce, and jus in places on its menu, could add a thicker brown gravy into its repertoire. The textbook-perfect french fries at McDonald’s, the best in the fast-food business (this opinion is unimpeachable, fight me), would be the ideal base for whatever natural beef flavor gravy the mega-chain could whip up. Jolibee, which has cheese on hand to top its pasta, as well as a mushroomy gravy on its menu, could totally do this like right now oh my god.
Perhaps, like in many things, America’s fast-food juggernauts should look to Canada for inspiration. Poutine is admittedly more of a cultural touchstone in Quebec than a NJ diner staple might be to the entire U.S., but fries topped with gravy and cheese curds are available at several major fast-food chains in Canada, including Burger King, McDonald’s, and Wendy’s. Satisfyingly topped fries can be done, and we don’t even need to worry about ingredients like bacon and steak and jalapeños — though a nacho cheese sauce paired with fries and a brown gravy? That I’m very curious to try.

Surprisingly Healthy Menu Items You Wouldn’t Expect From These Fast-Food Restaurants
You may be completely surprised by what I’m about to say: it’s possible to find healthy menu items at the most popular fast food restaurants. We spend a lot of time talking about how to make restaurant copycat foods and take-out-inspired recipes, and we also urge you to cook at home as much as possible. But, at the same time, we completely understand that you need to go out to eat every once and a while! Eating is an intensely social act, and sometimes you want to join the office crew for lunch. For those times when you’re joining a group or just don’t have time to cook a from-scratch meal, use this article as a guide for what to order at your favorite fast-food restaurants.
Eating healthy is all about making choices, and these healthy menu items will help you make the smart choice when you’re sitting at the drive-through. We tried to cover most of the popular fast-food joints, including McDonalds, Chick-fil-A, and Panera bread. If we missed your favorite fast-food restaurant and you’ve found some healthy menu items that work for you, please let us know in the comments! We always love hearing from you, especially when it can help others to become healthier and more fit.
McDonalds
If you have a hankering for the golden arches, opt for the Pico Guacamole with Artisan Grilled Chicken Sandwich. It’s filled with lean protein (a whopping 38-grams) while keeping the calories low. Including the sesame seed bun, you’ll get 470 calories, 18 grams of fat, 40 grams of carbs, and 38 grams of protein.
Burger King
You don’t normally think of a vegetarian burger when you think of fast-food, but Burger King’s BK Veggie Burger is actually pretty good! If you ask for it without mayonnaise, you’ll keep the fat and calories down even lower, clocking in at 310 calories, 7 grams of fat, 42 grams of carbs, and 22 grams of protein.
Chick-fil-A
We love the breakfast bowl options at Chick-fil-A because most of them stay under 500 calories. The Chick-fil-A Hash Brown Scramble Bowl is one of our favorites because it’s mostly filled with protein-rich eggs. You can choose from sausage or sliced chicken and stay at 450 calories, 28 grams of fat, 19 grams of carbs, and 30 grams of protein.
Wendy’s
Would it surprise you to know that our healthy menu items choice from Wendy’s is their chicken tenders? They may be fried, but they’re totally portion controlled to help you from overeating. Just make sure you don’t over-do it with the ranch dipping sauce! Grab a 3-piece chicken to fill up with 300 calories, 14 grams of fat, 20 grams of carbs, and 22 grams of protein.
Arby’s
If you want a completely flavorful meal that tastes like a cheat meal, go for Arby’s Pizza Sliders. They’re super meaty and cheesy, but each slider only has 300 calories, 14 grams of fat, 20 grams of carbs, and 22 grams of protein.
Taco Bell
Taco Bell has made great strides over the past few years to improve the number of healthy menu items on their menu. The Naked Chicken Chalupa is actually pretty genius – it uses a piece of fried chicken to replace the shell! It may be high in fat, but it’s filling, and it keeps the carbs low. You’ll get 440 calories, 30 grams of fat, 22 grams of carbs, and 20 grams of protein with each chalupa.
Subway
Subway has long been the go-to option for healthy menu items because of their fresh toppings. You can certainly pack on the calories with some of the choices, but we love the 6-inch Turkey Breast Sub, with no cheese and add avocado. You don’t miss the cheese with all the healthy fats in avocado! You’ll stay at 340 calories, 9 grams of fat, 49 grams of carbs, and 18 grams of protein.
Panera Bread
We love the healthy salad options at Panera Bread, but our top choice is the Roasted Beet, Quinoa, & Citrus Salad. It has a nice combination of fruits, vegetables, nuts, and whole-grains. Every salad will fill you up with only 490 calories, 31 grams of fat, 49 carbs (most of which is from complex carbohydrates), and 12 grams of protein.
Starbucks
The coffee mega-giant conveniently offers food, but many of the breakfast pastries offer empty calories. Choose one of their Smoked Turkey Protein Boxes instead. You’ll get healthy apples and carrots alongside a savory sandwich. It’s definitely a good healthy option at 360 calories, 12 grams of fat, 42 grams of carbs, and 24 grams of protein.
Chipotle
We love that you can get burrito bowls or salads at Chipotle, but sometimes you’re just in the mood for a handheld option. Recently, the tortilla recipe at Chipotle was simplified to just four ingredients, so you can be sure that you’re getting balanced nutrition with every burrito. Not a great option if you’re going low-carb, but in the end that tortilla only adds 320 calories, 9 grams of fat, 50 grams of carbs, and 8 grams of protein.
Jimmy John’s
Looking for a “freaky fast” sandwich? Jimmy John’s actually has some healthy menu items, including the #4 . If you skip the bread and get it as an “unwich” (wrapped in lettuce leaves), it only has 273 calories, 22 grams of fat, 5 carbs, and 14 grams of protein.
Dunkin’ Donuts
We can’t help you if you buy a dozen donuts and eat them all, but if you can resist the urge, there are some healthy menu items on Dunkin’ Donuts’ menu. Try the Egg-White Veggie Flatbread, which will certainly fill you up with protein-rich egg whites. Each sandwich has 330 calories, 14 grams of fat, 33 grams of carbs, and 18 grams of protein.
Papa John’s
It’s often hard to find a healthy slice of pizza, but Papa John’s has a vegetable-filled option that’s better than most sodium-filled pizzas. The Garden Fresh Pizza is all veggie, with green peppers, onions, mushrooms, black olives, and Roma tomatoes. You can eat two slices and stay at 400 calories, 14 grams of fat, 54 grams of carbs, and 16 grams of protein.

With Burger King’s Whopperrito, have we reached pinnacle burrito?
Put something in a burrito and it acquires a cool side, but research results can diversify wildly. With chefs busting the blueprint, we taste test the latest hipster meat fad
This week ensure the nationwide opening of Burger Kings Whopperrito. No, you didnt read that wrong the fast-food king should certainly throw a Whopper in a burrito.
Like KFCs burrito project before it, the Whopperrito is a bland reminder that mediocre meals stand mediocre even when they put on new party clothes.
But it points to a brand-new tendency in hipster food: the burritofication of all meat kinds. Jeffrey Pilcher, a nutrient historian and columnist of Planet Taco: A Global History of Mexican Food, mentions the burrito and the taco have become a brand-new kind of shorthand for cooks. Give something in a burrito and it acquires this cool fringe, he replies. Its a course of Americanizing foreign meat, but without that McDonalds feel.
If you cant stand chicken fries then try Burger Kings brand-new provide, the Whopperrito. Image: Charlotte Simmonds for the Guardian
In San Francisco, the birthplace of the Mission-style burrito the meaty, rice-filled, bean-and-cheese ordeal that most will recognize growing numbers of cooks are experimenting with the burrito blueprint. The basics remains the same: a carpeting of carbs( typically rice ), flesh or fish, and something fresh( avocado, salads or vegetables) twisted up in a tortilla, food or other package. But the results vary wildly.
So if the burrito not the burger is now Americas favorite meat playground, whos going it right and whos get it wrong? I chew my direction through nine burritos in four periods to bring you the answer.
What doesnt study
The Whopper-rrito
Burger Kings burger in a burrito propelled nationwide on Monday. Yes, we tried it. And yes, its pretty lame. It paucity inspiration, texture and pierce. Its a taco-flavored burger in a tortilla and none the better for it.
The Whopperrito, good left unwrapped. Image: Charlotte Simmonds for the Guardian
KFC tried a same stunt last year by secreting a fried chicken and a pulled chicken burrito in the UK. I tried it on a rainy day in London and it was dismal, tasting simultaneously of good-for-nothing at all and overwhelmingly of artificial cheese.
Conclusion: good burritos can be made in the same sum of occasion it takes to get a fast-food burrito and they arent much more expensive( my Whopperrito meal cost roughly$ 7 ). Treat yourself to the real deal.
The ramen-rrito
Some eateries in California have been putting ramen noodles inside burritos and, while I have not actually tried it( nearby restaurants no longer act them. You work out why ), the premise is frightening. Innovation is always admirable and the ramen burger has some serious devotees but there are certain meat that should not be friends. Slippery ramen noodles and chewy tortillas feel like two of them. Its like putting an octopus in a straight jacket.
The cousin of the ramen-rrito is the pho-rrito. While these LA foodies didnt hate it they did close we are able to prefer merely having a good old-fashioned container of pho. If it aint ended
The heart attack-rrito
No one is pretending burritos are healthy, but there is a line that can be crossed. Putting doughnuts inside a burrito is one acces to traverse it. Two hot dog, three pieces of bacon, cheddar cheese and beef chili is another. French fries, jalapeos, bacon, mac n cheese, hot dogs and beef chili is yet a third. And Googling pizza burrito goes you here; which, be alerted, is a corner of the internet that they are able to put you off your lunch.
The Vulgar Chefs white-hot scrap burrito, aka a heart attack in a tube.
What works
The sushi-rrito
A sushirrito is exactly what it sounds like: a monstrous piece of sushi rolled like a burrito. But this is more than a copycat, its something new and yummy that combines atypical parts( repute ginger-spiked avocado, lotus chips or sweetcorn) into a dish thats heartier than sushi but lighter than the Mexican-American classic. Its luscious.
A wheel from San Franciscos Sushirrito, which claims to be the original sushi burrito idea. Photograph: Charlotte Simmonds for the Guardian
Of all the faux burritos I tried the sushi burrito is the farthest deviation, but it handiworks by reminding us of everything these two great foods have in common.
The curry-rrito
The curry burrito obliges appreciation after all, whats a curry without naan, chapati or paratha to wash it up? This is the non-burrito that detects most like a burrito.
A curried pumpkin and chicken burrito from Avatars Punjabi Burrito. Photo: Charlotte Simmonds for the Guardian
The depth of spicing in south Asian cooking is a natural complement for Mexican cuisine. I dine a Punjabi burrito( from Avatars in the Bay Area) which swaps Spanish rice for basmati, pico de gallo for pickles and chutney, sour cream for yogurt, and carne asada for curried chicken or lamb.
A chicken tikka masala burrito from Curry Up Now. Photograph: Charlotte Simmonds for the Guardian
The chicken tikka masala burrito( I tried one from Curry Up Now) is saucy and spicy, granted frivolity by a sour chickpea ornament announced chana. I spent most of my occasion gobbling it visualizing, why havent I ingest this before? And when can I get another one?
The deep-fried rice-ritto
Rice is often the unwelcome guest at the burrito party so its great to witness some establishments hold it a starring role.
A korrito from Seoul on Wheels aspects kimchee deep-fried rice. Photograph: Charlotte Simmonds for the Guardian
The korrito( from a nutrient truck called Seoul on Wheels ), featuring bulgogi( grilled, marinaded beef ), cilantro, sour ointment, sriracha and cheddar cheese, is one example of rice-minded theory. Their rice fastened with kimchee was so good it actually did me excited to ate the rice line-up of my burrito.
The kung pao pastrami burrito from Mission Chinese. Picture: Charlotte Simmonds for the Guardian
San Franciscos mega-hip Mission Chinese does a kung pao burrito, which comes with kung pao pastrami, home fries, cheese, scallions and salt cod fried rice. While their pastrami teeters dangerously on the edge of over-salted, the rice has deliciously fishy undercurrents and a agreeable pop of peanuts.
The brand-new meat-ritto
Meat is the burritos headline act, and some of best available fusion burritos use the format to showcase a signature flesh dishes. Roy Chois Kogi food truck in Los Angeles is a well-loved precedent, stuffing caramelized Korean barbecue inside tacos and burritos.
A jerk chicken burrito from Jamaican nutrient truck Scotch Bonnet. Picture: Charlotte Simmonds for the Guardian
Sweet and smoky yank chicken is of the opinion at home inside a tortilla. I tried one thrust with rice, beans, plantains and a tomato cucumber enjoy.
A burrito filled with sisig, a Filipino pork dish traditionally made from parts of the pigs honcho. Photograph: Charlotte Simmonds for the Guardian
A sour and savory Filipino specialty called sisig, made from marinated and charbroiled pork, also works well as a burrito heavyweight. Seior Sisig in California is leading service charges here, and even barters out rice for french fries. Crunchy, greasy, fabulous.

American Fast Food Restaurants - International Menu Items
As a way to accommodate cultural and regional tastes, many American fast food restaurants have to change some of their menu items (or come up with new ones) when they expand to other countries. Here are 15 examples.
1. Beer In McDonald's restaurants in some European countries including Germany, France, Austria, and Switzerland you can buy beer in 8-oz and 12-oz sizes. Heineken provides McDonald’s with beer, but local breweries (such as Kronenbourg Brewery in France) also supply the fast food chain.
2. The McArabia The McArabia is a pita sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and garlic mayonnaise served in many Middle Eastern countries, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and parts of Pakistan. The McArabia comes in two varieties: grilled chicken or grilled kofta (ground beef or lamb), wrapped in pita bread.
3. Spicy Paneer Wrap Since a majority of Indians are vegetarian, McDonald’s India caters to their tastes with meatless options like the BigSpicy Paneer Wrap, which is made up of paneer patties (a type of Indian cheese) wrapped in a grilled tortilla and served with mustard, mayonnaise, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and various herbs and spices.   4. Chicken McDo and Spaghetti Offered at McDonald’s Philippines, the Chicken McDo is a single piece of fried chicken usually a leg served with spaghetti topped with meat sauce.
5. McLobster The McLobster is served at a number of McDonald’s locations throughout Canada. The sandwich consists of Atlantic Lobster meat, diced celery, shredded lettuce, and salad dressing, served on a hotdog-style bun. It’s offered as a summer seasonal menu item.
6. The Mega Mac The Mega Mac is really a double Big Mac. Instead of two all-beef patties, you get four. You still get the special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and onions served on a sesame seed bun it’s just bigger. International Menu Items From American Fast Food Restaurants
Places to eat and what to expect...
Groceries first….
You will find a grocery store in, probably, the basement of every mall you come across. So, there will be a mall next door to a mall, which means a grocery store next door to a grocery store.
As a world traveler you will quickly find that all the delicious stuff you’re used to getting at home isn’t necessarily available everywhere in the world, dammit! Grocery stores have milk in boxes, eggs on shelves, and things like pre-sliced cheese and lunch meat are pretty much non-existent. I mean things like cheddar cheese aren’t easy to find. They normally have a sections of ‘international’ food where you might be able to find things you want, maybe. Overall there’s plenty of fresh food to be bought.
Oh, remember they are on the metric system, so when I tried ordering 2 lbs of fresh bacon they just looked at me. I tried ordering 16 oz of cheese and didn’t get what I wanted either. It’s all like Kilograms.
I found it most interesting that I couldn’t easily find something like a fresh head of lettuce. Salads in general don’t seem to be a common thing. I like to have a fresh salad with my meals, but can be difficult to get.
I did teach my wife how to make a cucumber, tomato, and onion salad and I was able to find an Italian dressing in the international section so I was happy. We would make a salad and have it with meals.
The idea was that we would maybe save a little money and cook and we did a little, but this leads into my next item…
ALL FOOD PLACES DELIVER!!!
Let that sink in for a moment…cuz I’m going to go over a few of the places we ate at that I enjoyed…
#1 - Chili’s ….yes Chili’s is in the Philippines and it is fairly consistent with what it is in the states. I was craving a Bacon-Cheeseburger and fries and they did a good job of it for me. We ate at the one in SM Megamall and found out they delivered. We had them deliver to the condo several more times.
#2 - Kenny Rogers …I had never had this before and was really surprised. The roasted chicken was quite tasty. They have these sweet corn muffins that are pretty good too. I recommend the garlic rice too. It reminds me sort of Boston Market back in the states. We ordered this several times as well. They do have a sweet tea, but it’s really sweet, a bit too sweet for my taste. Overall tho it’s a go to place.
#3 - Pizza Hut …ok, so pizza in the Philippines tends to be less sauce and toppings. Pizza Hut has been a mixed bag of feels for me. Once you find the pizza you like, stick with it. The first time I ordered I wanted stuffed crust pan. In the states that means mozzarella cheese stuffed around the edges.
The pizza arrived and it was like a little bit of pizza in the center and the edges were puffed. I tried it and it was..odd…I thought it was ricotta cheese, but later I looked it up and found out it was cream cheese. WTF?! It was cream cheese and I think sausage I think.
I have a story about my wife ordering pizza I’ll save for the future, but…
Oh! and sausage! Let’s clear this up. Sausage tends to mean what is a hot dog in the states. I had gotten a stuffed crust pizza with sausage in the crust only to find hot dogs when i bit into it! Traumatic!!
But, once I got back to plain pan supreme all was well.
#4 - Rackz …we found this place in Bonafacio Global City. It had pretty good ribs. You could get them saucy or dry rub. I got a slab of saucy that were pretty good. The meat just fell off the bone. They also had ice cream milkshakes. Milkshake on the menu tends not to be ice cream like in the states, but sort of a blended milk with flavor.
#5 - Dunkin Donuts …ok, i was saving this one, there ware actually several donut places, Krispy Kreme among them, tho I’m not a fan, but all of them deliver. Donut Delivery! I ordered 2 dozen…hahahaha…so good…
#6 - McDonalds …I’m not a huge fan in the states, same goes for the Philippines too, but McD’s serves things like spaghetti here, the sauce tends to be a bit too sweet for me.
#7- Army Navy Burger & Burrito - This place had promise. I got a hamburger from them this time and had gotten a burrito from them previously, but I just really didn’t care for the food. It didn’t really have any flavor to it at all. For me Chili’s was much better.
#8 - Gotti’s …also located in SM Mega Mall was pretty good. It’s an italian restaurant. They have pizza, pasta, and salad. It was a good experience.
#9 - Chow King …it’s like a chain 'chinese’ restaurant. I didn’t care for it.
#10 - Jollybee …of course you have to mention Jollybee, the McDonalds of the Philippines. I didn’t care for it either.
#11 -Mang Inasal …this is a very inexpensive little place. For only a couple of dollars you get a piece of chicken and some rice. It’s good chicken, but portions are small.
#12 - Texas Roadhouse …I ate here the last time and they had pretty decent food.   Sort of reminds me of Chili’s a bit. This was the first time I realized sour cream was a liquid. They serve it with hot wings.
#13 - Wendy’s …mostly the same as back home. I used to really like Wendy’s but they’ve changed since back then and I just don’t care for them much anymore.
There’s also a buffet at SM Mega Mall, I can’t remember the name of it. It’s around $13/person for the whole buffet and includes drinks. It’s a wide selection of food and includes a dessert bar.
We ate at a couple of the small restaurants on High Street, one is an italian place that was pretty good, and another was one of the more asian restuarants that sort of served chicken and rice. It was good as well, but I’m forgetting the name.
The is a Cold Stone Creamery across from Market! Market! now, but I didn’t get any this time around.
Banapple is like a pastry shop you can get cheesecake at and also sandwiches and stuff. We had several of the cheesecakes, which were pretty good.
Red Ribbon - Ok I have to mention one of the big bake shops. Cakes in the Philippines are different. They aren’t like that dense decadent chocolate that just make you wanna slap yo mama! These are lighter and kind of spongy. they didn’t really satisfy me.
Ube …is purple…I think sort of in the sweet potato family. They make stuff out of it. Cakes, desserts, etc…didn’t do much for me.
#14 - Bon Chon …korean fried chicken. Delicious! It’s usually one of the first and last meals I have on vacation. I like the spicy and sesame.
this has been a list of some of the more notable places I can remember eating at….
