A/N: Hi, everybody! The stars have aligned to give me the first bits of simultaneous time and inspiration I've had in months (also known as me having pneumonia). I'm not sure how active I'll continue to be after posting this little illness-induced scribble, but I hope you all are well! Come say hello if you feel so inclined 💕
Tumblr media
“Is this really necessary?”
You started to squirm in Bucky’s arms, but stilled when he pinched at the back of your thigh.
“Do you still have pneumonia?” he retorted, eyes fixed straight ahead.
You huffed, but it came out as more of a wheeze. “It’s just that I’m already sweaty, and you’re warm, and it’s just a little…”
You trailed off as he dropped his gaze to you. “And who’s fault is that?”
“Bucky–”
“Don’t Bucky me. What the hell were you thinking?” God, that glare could cut glass. A sweat broke across the back of your neck.
“Helen said I could–”
“Helen?” Bucky scoffed. “Oh yes, thank God for Helen. Straight off a mission and all I wanna do is see my girl, but I gotta get cleared by Helen first. Lovely Helen who’s so surprised to hear FRIDAY say you’re in the gym training. ‘Why’s that?’ I ask. Oh, because she’s got fucking pneumonia and she’s supposed to be taking it easy.”
You licked at your chapped lips, trying to piece together some shadow of an excuse, or at least some combination of words that would melt the chill from his gaze.
But none came, and you settled into his even gait as he carried you back to your room.
Even if it hadn’t quite been the reunion you’d been hoping for – him bursting into the gym right as you all but collapsed onto a bench mid-coughing fit had been less than ideal timing – dear God, you were glad he was home. You could feel the tightness in your chest easing ever so slightly, although if that was because you were being carried rather than walking up the stairs yourself, you’d never admit that to Bucky.
Before you’d even fully registered reentering your room, Bucky had plowed through the bathroom door, slammed it behind him, and set you gently on the edge of the tub. He immediately went to the shower and turned the handle as hot as it would go.
“What are you doing?”
Bucky didn’t look at you when he responded, just spoke up enough for his voice to carry over the pounding of the water. “Whenever Steve had pneumonia when we were kids, I use’ta boil a pot of water and make him sit and breathe in the steam. But I figure Stark isn’t too worried about a water bill.”
Ah, fuck.
“Buck,” you said softly. When he didn’t turn to face you, you spoke up a little louder. “Baby?”
Bucky finally abandoned the edge of the shower to stand in front of you, and now the anxiety was plain across his face. You’d mistaken it for anger earlier, but now that he was standing still, you could see the fidgeting in his stance, the shakiness to his breath, the cloudiness in his eyes.
“I swear to you I am fine. Nothing is–” Your breath caught, and you doubled over, wheezing. Bucky was on his knees in front of you before you could blink, grabbing at your hands. You coughed through a few more inhales before you straightened up, giving his hand a reassuring squeeze.
“Okay,” you croaked. “Poor timing. Not the most confidence-inspiring. But really.”
“Baby, I’m sorry I’m so panicked I just… It got so bad with Steve and I… I was always there. Even if I couldn’t do much I was there. And for you, I wasn’t.” He scratched at the back of his head. “And you were training? I just need you to take care of yourself.”
Your shoulders slumped. “I’m sorry. I… I was training to get my mind off you. I did the whole laid up in bed thing and all I could do was think. I thought if I just went for a little while, maybe it would be easier. And I wouldn’t be so worried for you.”
Bucky sighed. “This is what I get for going on missions, huh? Guess you’re not to be trusted.”
You scowled. “I was doing fine. I wouldn’t’ve trained any more anyway. It didn’t work. Still couldn’t stop thinking about you.”
He grinned cheekily. “I am rather unforgettable, aren’t I?” You groaned and shoved at his shoulder.
He stood and bent back down to press a kiss to your forehead, and you leaned into his touch. His lips were soft, his breathing steady, and you inhaled deeply.
“I’m really, really glad you’re home,” you whispered.
“And I am really, really glad you’re safe.” He straightened up and tucked a loose strand of hair behind your ear. “And now we’re gonna get you better.”
For the first time in days it was a relief to find yourself in your bed. Deposited gently on the soft sheets – “Are you just gonna carry me everywhere now? – and relieved of your sweaty work out clothes, you sunk into the pillows.
Bucky joined you a few moments later after tidying up the bathroom and slid next to you, pulling you into his bare chest and wrapping you in his arms.
“Sleep, baby. I’ve got you.”

Stuffies and Stitches
Pairing | Bucky x disabled reader
Warnings | Injuries, wheelchair, lack of mobility, car accident (non graphic minor), fluff
W/C | About 700
Summary | After a long week Bucky gives you love.
A/N | This was written for Eun's 5K follower challenge. Congrats so much my love!!! I can't wait to see everything that people write! @dadplease thank you to @lunarbuck for betaing for me :)
Tumblr media
Your shitty afternoon had only gotten worse after a crappy treatment, and getting bumped by a car in the parking lot of the hospital. The accident had ruined your custom wheelchair, your bag, and your treatment friend. You had retreated to your back up chair, clunky and uncomfortable, while your wheelchair company had your custom for repairs. Two weeks, two weeks without your chair, while the chair was completely rebuilt. Two weeks of pain and limited mobility because your old wheelchair didn't fit in your home, and you were unable to transport it by yourself. Not only had your chair been ruined, your favorite stuffie had been in your bag, your little friend for the treatments that Bucky couldn't take you to.
After finally getting home from the hospital ER, where you were taken after getting hit by the car, you see a text from Bucky.
Bucky :off the mission ;):
Little Doll :Hey, can you come over please?:
Bucky :I would love to Doll! :) :
Bucky arrives, bringing the rain from outside in. “Hey Doll, I brought some food so we don’t have to cook.” He steps into the living room, noticing that there is no wheelchair to be found. Coming over to kneel in front of you, then noticing the bandages, on your arm, forehead, and cheek. “Doll, what happened?” You start to cry. The cut on your face and its stitches start to sting.
“Oh Bucky, I ruined my stuffie. I am so sorry, you, you just gots it for me and I ruined it.” You say, barely able to get the whole sentence out without breaking into more tears. He scoops you into his arms, pulling you both onto the couch and letting you sob. Whispering reassurances in your ear while rubbing your back until you get calmed down.
Once you stop crying, letting all the emotions out of you, all the stress and fear from the day, Bucky asks. “Okay Doll. Tell me what happened.”
You start from the very beginning explaining how treatment made you sick, then going out to your car, someone's car slipped in the rain and just barely hit you and your wheelchair, ruining your chair. Recounting the trip to the ER and discovering that your bag had been ruined and your chair needed extensive repairs. You tell him just how stressed out you are about the bills and the cost to repair your chair.
“I wish you would have called. I would have come and got you. We will figure out your chair, and the costs. I will make sure you are taken care of until your new chair comes.” You curl into him a little more, nodding into his chest, letting his warmth take you to a land of sleep, somewhere the pain is nothing more than a memory.
You wake up in the morning in your bed, his warmth behind you. Cuddling yourself into him a little more, searching the bed half asleep for you stuffie. “Bucky my stuffie.” You start, tears filling your eyes once again. Bucky starts to shush you, kissing behind your ear.
“It’s okay Doll, let’s take the day and go get you a new stuffie.” You nod, letting him get out of the bed, heading to the bathroom to shower and then help you get ready.
Bucky pushes you in the wheelchair, heading to the closest Build-a-Bear, children running around you and squealing, their happiness apparent. Your first stop is to replace your backpack and its contents.
Then the happiness sets in, going into the Build-a-Bear. Bucky helps you, pushing you back and forth along the wall of unstuffed animals letting you go back and forth in deciding between the mint colored bear and the pink axolotl, when Bucky finds a mint colored axolotl, that you fall in love with instantly.
You take the stuffie to the next station, picking out sounds and smells for it to have, Bucky recording his voice saying “I love you Doll.” You head to the stuffing station and squish it till it is perfectly soft for you, and then take it to find a cute new outfit. Finally naming it and getting a box to put it in, when Bucky pays.
“Thank you Buck. This has made a bad week better and I always love spending time with you. I love love love you.” The two of you head on your way, one new stuffed animal, and big smiles on your faces.

Word Count: 481
Steve: dada Bucky: daddy
written on my phone
********************
"Wake up pretty girl, it's time for breakfast" Steve rubs your back as he coaxes you out of slumber. You open your eyes only to shut them right away when the thumping of your head was all you could feel or hear.
"Cmon, let me see those pretty eyes" you slowly open your eyes. "Hi princess" he smiles. You whine as feel the scratchy ache in your throat but he takes it as you not wanting to get up. "Oh baby I know, but I let you sleep late. It's time to get up now." He picks you up and carries you downstairs where Bucky is cooking.
"Good morning doll." Bucky kissed your cheek before continuing cooking. "Someone didn't wanna get out of bed this morning." Steve sat you down at the table and got you some milk. "Still sleepy baby?" Bucky placed a plate of pancakes in front of you. You push the plate away, not wanting to hurt your throat more.
"No ma'am, eat your breakfast." Steve pushes the plate back in front of you. You whine and push it away again. "Do we need to have a little talk about manners?" he raises his eyes expectingly. "Steve calm down, she's sleepy." Bucky pulls your chair closer to his. "I need to try and eat your breakfast baby. It's pancakes, you love pancakes." He reasons. You shake your head. "Why not baby?" You pint to your throat. "What?" You whine again.
"Does your throat hurt angel?" Steve asks and you nod. "Can you stick out your tongue baby?" You do as Bucky asks and stick out your tongue for him to see the strawberry color. Bucky sighs  and looks at Steve. "We should call Bruce." Steve nods and goes to make the call. "And you get go back to bed sweet girl." He picks you up and takes you to his and Steve's room. He lays you down in the bed and covers you up. "You wanna watch a movie?" You nod and he turns on The Lorax.
A few minutes later Bruce comes up and confirms that you have strep. Steve and Bucky do everything in their power to make you comfortable. Steve even makes you homemade chicken noodle soup. They spend the rest of the day cuddling with you and making you feel better.
"Get some rest love. We'll be right here." Steve kisses your forehead.
"We love you doll." Bucky kisses your cheek before you fall asleep in their arms.

Hi.
Saw you are taking requests.
I got shingles the weekend close to my birthday, i confuse it with allergy because i am allergic to basically anything and then on my 24th birthday i got that it was actually shingles, doctor told me that my immune system went down and that is why i got it. Before that i was under so much stress because of work that i developed burn out and had to quit my job (literally spent months, weeks of my life visiting the emergency ward because i kept getting sick due to stress and burn out) probably that Triggered the shingles.
Could you write something with Bucky in which the reader suffers similar sh**? I just need comfort from my fave character 😭
If you dont feel comfortable is fine, i understand 😁
KUDOS!
I'm so sorry you went through that! I hope you are much better now. I tried to make this as medically accurate as possible (I texted my friend in med school LOL) but I am definitely not a doctor so if some stuff isn't accurate, just pretend it is.
You threw your hair up into a ponytail to get it out of your face. Hours slumped over at your desk weren't doing any favors. You grabbed the energy drink and chugged it to prevent your eyes from closing. You were almost done with this assignment. Just a little bit longer, you told yourself.
Working full time and being a grad student was taking a toll on you. You spent every day from 9-5 in your office and every night from 6-10 in classes. You crammed homework in anywhere you could, which often meant staying up most of the night. It was approaching 4am, now.
The office door creaked open and Bucky strolled in, sleep still filling his eyes. “Baby,” he sighed. “Come to bed.” He had woken up and the bed was cold without you beside him. He walked over to you, kissing your forehead.
“Can’t,” you mumbled without looking up from your computer.
“You gotta get some sleep, darlin’.”
You sneezed, still typing away. “I’m fi-” your words were interrupted by another sneeze.
Bucky stood, looking at you with a stern expression. “Well look at that. You’re getting sick.”
You waved your hand. “No, I’m not. It’s just allergies,” you said, sniffling. “You know this time of year is bad.” The past few months, you had been sick on and off multiple times. A cold, a small fever, you were sick more than you weren’t.
“Honey, please just get some sleep. You haven’t slept in days.” He was practically begging. He knew how much stress you were under and getting no sleep wasn’t going to help. He was extremely worried about you.
“Just give me 10 more minutes, okay?” You compromised.
“Fine. But I’m sitting right here and setting a timer. The second it goes off, I’m carrying you to bed.”
He did exactly that, throwing you over his shoulder when you didn’t get up immediately at the ring of his phone. Despite the intense amounts of caffeine you had consumed, you fell asleep the second your head hit the pillow.
Bucky woke up before you the next morning, smiling at your sleeping form. Your hair was sprawled over your face and he gently pushed it away to kiss your cheek. But as soon as he moved the strands, he noticed that your cheeks were flushed. He put the back of his flesh hand on your skin. Heat radiated off of your face before he even touched you. You were definitely sick.
He got up, being careful not to wake you. He left the bedroom returning a few minutes later with water, Advil, and a thermometer. You groaned as your alarm rang, sending shooting pains into your skull. You groaned, opening your eyes. You felt like absolute shit. Your whole body ached, your throat was on fire, and even your skin hurt.
“You’re sick.” Bucky stated, as if he was informing you.
“Yeah, I can tell,” you retorted, wincing at the pain in every cell of your body. He smiled softly, brushing your hair behind your ears.
“I got you some water and Advil. Can I take your temperature, doll?”
You nodded and he put the thermometer under your tongue. He looked it, eyes widening. “Shit baby, that’s not good. Your temp is 102.8. How do you feel?”
“Horrible,” you pouted.
He sighed. “I’m not surprised. That’s a really high fever, baby. I think we should go to the doctor.”
You groaned, not wanting to move. You felt so horrible that the thought of having to get up and out of bed was a nightmare. You felt like you couldn’t stay awake, eyes closing no matter how hard you tried to keep them open. “Can’t move,” you whispered, coughing slightly. “My whole body hurts so much. Just wanna sleep.”
Bucky didn’t know what to do. In his mind, sickness meant calling a doctor. He had spent so many years worrying about Steve back in the 40s, sitting with him while he got looked at. He still wasn’t used to how things were today. The google search he did on his phone told him that if your fever went above 103, to take you to the hospital. In his opinion, you were close enough that he wanted to rush you there right now, but he could see how exhausted you were.
“Alright, rest for now. But if it gets worse we’re going to the hospital.” You didn’t even hear him as you had already fallen back to sleep.
You woke up in a daze, cold sweat clinging to your body. You were shivering aggressively, shaking the entire bed. “Babe?” Bucky said, noticing you were awake. “You cold?”
You nodded, teeth chattering. He quickly grabbed you another blanket, wrapping you up like a burrito. He wrapped his arms around you, hoping that his body heat would help, too. One of the major perks of dating a super soldier was that the chances of getting him sick were very slim. He held you as close as possible, trying to keep you warm. “Oh, honey,” he whispered, voice dripping with sympathy.
“Can you take your temperature again for me?” He asked after your shivering had subsided a little bit. You put the thermometer back in your mouth, waiting for the beep. Bucky took it from you, heart stopping as he looked. “I know you don’t wanna move, but we gotta go to the ER. You’re at 103.6. That’s really really bad.”
You groaned. You felt so horrible, his words barely even registered in your mind. He picked you up and carried you to the car, whispering words of encouragement along the way. You closed your eyes again, finding it physically impossible to stay awake. Bucky held your hand the entire car ride before picking you up and carrying you into the ER. He let you sleep as you waited, positioning your head on his shoulder. He constantly watched you to make sure you were still breathing. He didn’t wanna wake you until he absolutely had to.
When you were finally called in, he shook you gently. “Can you walk?” He asked. You weakly nodded and he helped you to your feet letting you lean on his body as you went to the exam room.
The doctor hooked you up to an IV immediately to hydrate your sick body as they examined you.
“How have you been sleeping?” She asked you.
“Um, not great,” you answered, voice sounding raspy. “I’ve been under a lot of stress.”
“She hasn’t slept in a week,” Bucky interjected. “She’s been getting sick a lot these past few months since she started grad school.”
The doctor nodded. “Okay that’s very good to know.” She proceeded to ask you a few more questions and then said, “Did you have chicken-pox as a kid?”
You nodded. “Yeah. When I was 5.”
She carefully rolled up your shirt, revealing a rash on your side. “It looks like you have shingles. The stress you’ve been under seems to have weakened your immune system which is why you’ve been getting sick so much. It makes sense that with all of that the virus would come back now.”
Bucky held your hand. He was relieved that you had a diagnosis but of course he was terrified. Back in his time, that would have been a death sentence. “Is she gonna be okay?”
“I’ll be fine, Buck,” you answered.
“Yes,” the doctor agreed. “We’re gonna keep her here for at least tonight because your fever is so high. But you will be okay.”
Bucky exhaled. “Oh, thank god.”
“Can I go to sleep now?” You asked the doctor. You were so exhausted.
“Yes. I’ll let you rest,” she smiled before leaving the room.
“I’m so sorry you feel so shitty,” Bucky said, holding your hand. “Will this make you take it easy?”
“I don’t know what I can do to change anything,” you said with tear filled eyes. “Literally the only time I have to get things done is in the middle of the night.”
He looked into your eyes. He wanted to help you so badly that his heart ached. He wanted you to be happy and healthy. “What if you quit your job?” He suggested. “You only took this as a temporary thing anyway. I know you don’t wanna stay there when you’re done with school.”
“I can’t not have a job, Bucky,” you argued.
“Baby,” he looked in your eyes. “Do you have any clue how much the Avengers pay me?” He smirked. “Trust me, you don’t need a job.” You opened your mouth to argue, ready to tell him that you didn’t need his money. “I know you’re your own person and you can make your own money. And one day, with that brain, you will make so much all on your own. But baby, you’re drowning. You’ve been sick more days than not the past few months. Please, let me take care of you. Just for a bit. I’d never tell you what to do and if you really wanna stay, you can. But you’re killing yourself, darling. And I can’t just sit back and watch as it happens. Just think about it. Please.”
You lazily smiled. “Okay. I’ll think about it. But not right now. Right now, I need to sleep.”
He stroked your hair and kissed your forehead. “Go to sleep, my love. I’ll be right here when you wake up.”

could you do a soft Dom Steve x sub bucky x soft Dom sick reader?
where bucky wakes up all subby and wants his mama. he goes to look for her and cannot find her, he starts to cry but then Steve comes around the corner and tells bucky that mama has the flu and is lying in bed to sleep. Bucky than ask Steve if he can help mama feel better. Steve says yes, they spend the day helping the reader get better.
Hey love!! I’m so sorry it took me a while to get back with you, but it’s finally here! I wrote reader’s illness so it could either be just a bad flu, or a chronic illness since I deal with those and flare ups can be terrible aha. The ending is a little rushed and not my favorite but… I’m too lazy to fix it. Hope you enjoy!!
Soft Dom Steve x Reader x Sub/Little Bucky
Warnings: Bucky is scared of being abandoned, but that doesn’t actually happen. Illness. Other than that, just a whole lot of fluff.
(Part of the Sharing is Caring AU)
Blinking awake, Bucky was met with the comforting space of the shared bedroom. Steve’s sketches were littered on the walls, a couple of your nicknacks spread around. Even his own collection of books, stacked neatly on the shelf in the corner.
He could feel it, already brewing inside. The need to be coddled and cared for. The need to be nothing more than a good boy who pleased his Mama and his Captain. But they weren’t here. The bed was empty, only slightly warm. A whine huffed up from his chest as he rolled over on his back- where were you both? You were supposed to be here, covering your baby boy in kisses and compliments.
Bucky shuffled onto his feet, taking his time collecting comfortable clothes before putting them on. One of Steve’s sweaters you had stolen and been wearing for a week, it smelled like both of you. His softest sweats, the fluffy socks with silly cartoon cats on them. You and he had almost convinced Steve that a cat would be a great addition to the little family you had made together.
All cozied up and surrounded by the scent of his lovers, he stepped out of the bedroom at last. The little apartment area was quiet, which was unusual. If you and Steve were awake first, it usually meant the team had come for breakfast. Meaning lots of noise. So the silence piqued his curiosity, urging him further down the hall. He checked the bathroom, empty. So was the office, and even the little storage closet that you loved so much. (Mostly because it’s where you hide all the good snacks)
You both must be in the kitchen, he thought to himself. He needed his Mama, he needed his Captain, he needed to be a good boy and receive praises from you both. That he was kind and sweet, how proud you were and how much you loved him. Bucky was already thinking of breakfast, he would probably find his Mama and Captain cooking something. Maybe he could help! He was good at mixing things, and stealing the yummy bits when nobody was watching him. He was a renowned fruit thief.
Much to his disappointment though, Bucky found the rest of the house empty. The living room, dining room, kitchen, he walked through them all four times. And the only trace of life he found was a discarded soup can next to the sink. The silence was deafening, but somehow the heartbeat in his ears was louder. It felt like the ground had been pulled from beneath him, falling down a spiral of anxiety.
Were you hurt?
Maybe there was a mission nobody told him about?
Had you two gone out for breakfast without telling him?
Did you leave him?
Was he… alone?
It was as if the walls were caving in, stomach cramping with terror and bile rising in his throat. Bucky hadn’t even realized he was crying until then, but once he did it was like the tears wouldn’t stop. He was gasping for air, vision blurry as he wiped desperately at his eyes. Maybe this was his fault somehow. He was needy and damaged, never a good combination in his own opinion. Wasn’t he doing better though? Clearly not if his Mama and Captain both had left him-
“Bucky?”
He spun around wildly, already reaching out for the voice of his Captain. Bucky was swept up against a firm chest and the cries let loose. Steve was gentle and patient, petting his hair and shushing his tears until the poor man was able to form coherent words again. “Thought…I thought you were gone.”
“Oh, sweetheart.” Steve sighs, pulling back so he could clean the brunette’s face with gentle hands and a soothing voice.
“We would never leave you, and you know that. (Y/N)- Mama is sick, baby. She’s not feeling good today, we were in the guest bedroom so we didn’t disturb you baby boy. M’ so sorry, I should have let you know.”
The guest bedroom, that made sense. He hadn’t even thought to look in there, it was never used for anything. None of you had family to visit, and all your friends also lived within a reasonable distance for daily visits. Bucky looked up at his Captain, eyes still wet with tears, face red and puffy from crying already.
“Mama’s sick? Can I help her be better?” He felt so small, he really just wanted to be useful somehow. Especially if his sweet Mommy wasn’t feeling good. You didn’t get sick often, but when you did it was never pleasant. Bucky had seen it on occasion, the underlying illness in your body flaring up with a vengeance. It left you nauseous, weak, miserable. And he didn’t want his Mama to be miserable.
“Of course baby boy, you want to help make her some tea?” He gives a little nod and is rewarded with his Captain’s charming smile. They take their time making the tea, Steve giving his baby boy extra love for the fright he endured and explaining a little more. You had been throwing up- and Bucky needed his sleep. He had been on too many missions lately. So you insisted on moving to the spare room, hoping he could get some extra rest. Next time he would definitely have to write a note to make sure your sweet boy didn’t worry like this again.
The tea was finished with no spills. Bucky held the mug close to his chest and walked carefully down the hall, his Captain following with a fond chuckle. He was shuffling his cat socks, pausing if the drink shook too much with that cute pout of concentration on his face. Once at the door he stopped, and Steve could see the gears in his boy’s head turning. How was he supposed to open the door? Sure, he could hold the mug with just one hand. But… it was hot, and he was holding it with his sleeves. The mug would slip away before he could open the door, and all his mama’s tea would be on the floor.
His pondering was answered as a large body wrapped around his back. Reaching around the man, Steve turned the knob and gently pushed the door ajar before urging Bucky inside. He knew that seeing your baby boy would immediately help you to feel better.
Bucky peeked through the gap, eyes landing on the mess of sheets and pillows on the bed. There was a small bin at the side, there in case you got sick. Discarded soup and water on the nightstand, curtains pulled tightly together. You hadn’t even noticed him yet, face buried in the sheets and you wrestled with the ache in your bones. His heart pulled together, his poor Mommy. You were clearly miserable.
As quietly and carefully as he could manage while still balancing your tea, Bucky shuffled his way inside. He could hear you groan from your spot on the bed, moving a little faster at the sound until he arrived at your beside.
“Mama…?” There was a shuffle, and you peered out from the sheets. The sight you were greeted with was just…precious. Your sweet Bucky, wrapped up in your favorite sweater to steal from Steve, a mug that smelled nearly diving held carefully in his hands. He was watching you with a nervous smile, presenting the tea for you to drink. “Here you go, made tea so you feel sick no more.”
Heart melting in your chest, you took the mug and gently set it to the side on the nightstand. Bucky was confused, you could see the pout forming as he began to think the worst. But before your baby boy had time to spiral, you lifted the blankets and reached out for him. “Thank you, sweetheart. But right now Mommy just want lovin’ from her best little boy.” The smile that lights his face could heal anything as he slid into the space provided, curling his large body up against your chest. You smoothed back his hair, pressing a kiss to his forehead before fussing with the blankets. Steve stepped up, taking over and tucking the comforter around you both with a fond grin. “How are you feeling?”
“Better, now that I have my baby.”
The blanket shook with a little giggle, you and Steve sharing a small kiss. Sick days were unavoidable sometimes, but they were always easier with both your boys at your side.

Im currently fighting a bad cold.. that made me wondering. How would you think Bucky would take care of his girl ? 😱 he'd probably be too cute and overprotective 😭
1000% he would. He doesn't like it, not one bit. He doesn't like the little sniffles you keep making, or the way your shivering. You've insisted he doesn't have to worry but its pointless, his baby is sick, nothing is okay anymore.
"It's just a cold Bucky"
"No"
He's going to make you his ma's chicken soup but before that, he makes sure he bundles you up in a comfy blanket burrito. He puts on a movie for you to watch before getting to work. When he's done, he finds you fast asleep, looking all adorable and snuggly but you have to eat.
He wakes you up and feeds you as much as you can eat. He's not pleased when you try to get away with eating just two spoons, he insists you have to have at least half the bowl so you don't feel weak.
"M'full Bucky"
"No"
He's going to carry you around everywhere, tucked safely in his arms. You absolutely love it but you feel bad.
"I can walk Bucky"
"No"
He can feel you shiver at night and that is not okay. He wraps you under the blankets, wrapping you both in a cozy cocoon of warmth while giving you little kisses till you fall asleep. You try to tell him not to because you don't want him to fall sick too. Of course he doesn't listen.
"Baby, you'll get sick"
"No"
You giggle, giving into all his antics, he loves you more than anything else. You look up at him to find him scrolling through his phone for more cold remedies he can try so you can keep taking care of you.
"Are you always going to be this protective over me?"

For As Long As You Need Me
Tumblr media
(This is my first ever fanfic. I hope you enjoy!)
- Over 6K words
Content: swearing, hurt/comfort, fluff, OC (Y/N), Bucky Barnes
Summary: A recent mission turns out some unexpected results, and you end up a little (alot) worse for wear.
**Please do not repost my work**
You reluctantly trudged into the meeting room of the Avenger’s compound for yet another briefing on yet another mission. You loved being an Avenger, but you were tired. You had literally just gotten off the Quinjet from your last mission and were still wearing your tac suit. Your last mission was supposed to be an easy extraction. A simple grab-and-go of a HYDRA operative for intel. The “one day” mission turned into a week and ended with enemy blood on your suit and seaweed in your boots, among other places. You weren’t normally one to complain, but damnit, you could use a shower and a decent meal.
Haphazardly, you flopped into one of the chairs, propped your elbow on the table and rested your chin in your hand. You puffed out your cheeks and forcefully exhaled, as if, somehow, that would lessen your fatigue. At the head of the table, Steve smiled politely as he waited for you to settle. Across from you, however, Bucky stared at you, unimpressed with your apparent tardiness. Your stare shifted awkwardly between super-soldiers as you tried to rub the soreness out of your neck.
“So nice of you to join us,” Bucky remarked sarcastically.
You glared back at him, clearly not in the mood for his bullshit right now. And you sure as hell don’t have the energy to entertain it with a comeback.
“So, now that we’re all here…” Steve began formally, “we received intel on an abandoned HYDRA base that we believe house the files we’ve been looking for—”
“What about the asshole I just grabbed?” You interrupted, “I’m sure he can provide whatever information you need. And besides, I just got back. I’m tired and I’m dying for a sho—”
“Y/N, we need this. No one else is available.” Steve was using his Captain America voice now. “It’ll be a quick in-and-out, but we need to move now before they realize their info was leaked.”
You stared into Steve’s hardened gaze for a moment, searching for any sign that he might budge on this. Unfortunately, you found nothing.
You sighed. “Ok. Fine. When do we leave?”
“Meet Bucky on the jet in 20.” And with that, Steve left the room, leaving you with your thoughts.
Fuck. Maybe if you hurry, you’ll have time to shower and change your suit.  You stood up suddenly, not even noticing how Bucky was already standing by the door, scowling at you.
“You better hurry, princess. Don’t expect me to wait around for you again.”
“What the fuck is your problem, Barnes?” You spat at him.
“Me? I don’t have a problem.” He feigned indifference.
“Then why are you acting like a dick?!”  This isn’t the first time you and Bucky had been at each other’s throats. You were relatively new to the Avengers team, but you were far from incompetent. You trained hard, maybe even harder than everyone else, because you knew you needed to, to keep up with super soldiers, highly trained assassins, and expert marksmen. You feel you have proved yourself time and time again in the field, yet it never seemed good enough for Bucky Barnes.
Bucky was in your face now, mere inches away, and he was pissed. Oh shit. Maybe you went a little too far with the ‘dick’ comment.
“Maybe I wouldn’t act like a dick if you weren’t such a stuck-up, self-entitled bitch!”
Nope. No. You didn’t take it too far. You regret nothing now. You could feel your blood start to boil, your fists clenching at your sides. You know better than to try to take on a super soldier and, truth be told, you didn’t want to fight Bucky, not really. You liked him, probably more than you should. Even if you didn’t want to admit that to yourself. But, damn, he was really pissing you off today.
“What the hell is that supposed to mean? I work my ass off and I don’t ask for anything from anyone!” You huffed, chest heaving with anger.
Clearly, he had struck a nerve and as he seemed to notice this, a devilish grin spread across his face. He leaned in even closer and suddenly you were anxious, the anger in your features fading into unease. Is he doing this on purpose, trying to make you nervous? You stare relentlessly into his pale blue eyes, daring yourself to hold your ground, when all you wanted to do was melt into a puddle. Damn it, Y/N! Focus! He is an asshole and you are angry. Don’t look at his lips, don’t look at his lips, don’t look at his l—FUCK! You looked at his lips. You know he noticed; he misses nothing.  You averted your eyes and abruptly turned towards the door, your back turned to Bucky, desperately trying to find the rage that was long gone at this point.
Bucky straightened his posture and exaggeratedly inhaled, flaring his nostrils.
“Oh, and Y/N? You fucking stink.” His features twisted, resembling something close to disgust. “Maybe take a shower once in a while.”
Ah, there it is. You welcomed back the rage with open arms. It helped you focus.
You whipped your head around, irritation seeping from your pores. You scowled at him with the intention to kill, if looks could do it. But as much as you wanted to punch that stupid smirk off his ridiculously beautiful face, you didn’t have the time.
“Fuck you, Barnes!” And with that, you stormed out of the conference room to prepare for the mission.
Bucky watched as you angrily marched to your room, his eyes lit with a sense of accomplish, before slowly settling into a haze of uncertainty.
Fueled by the rage brought on by your less than pleasant interaction with Bucky, you showered quickly, silently cursing the steel-blue eyed super-soldier and his fucking attitude. You started to feel small hints of insecurities formed by Bucky’s words, but quickly pushed them aside. You weren’t going to allow yourself to spiral like that. Not right now. By the time you had donned a clean tac suit and gathered your weapons of choice, you had resolved to not let his comments bother you. After all, you were far too tired to waste the energy on this any longer. Your plan was to sit as far away from Bucky as you could on the jet, read the file and, if you had time, squeeze in a quick nap before you land. You tightened your thigh holster and slipped the blade into place before sprinting to the jet.
As you climbed up the ramp, you glanced at your watch. One minute to spare. Ha! Take that, tin man! Of course, Bucky was already at the controls, adjusting the coordinates for auto-pilot. Without sparing another glance in his direction, you grabbed a file from the bench and tucked yourself into a corner. You started to skim through the information, but fatigue hit you full force and you felt your eyelids grow heavy. You didn’t realize that you fell asleep until you were startled awake by the sound of the file you were holding crashing to the ground. Your eyes shot open wide and you leaned over to pick up the folder, looking over at Bucky, who was now sitting across from you a few seats down. You sighed, waiting for the inevitable smart-ass remark Bucky was sure to make, but nothing was ever spoken. He simply looked at you in a way you’re not sure you’ve ever seen before. What was it? Was it concern, maybe? Compassion? Curiosity? After a second, you tore your tired eyes away from him and looked at your watch. It had only been 30 minutes. You still have a few hours of the flight left. With that thought, you placed the file on the floor and slid down on your side, nestling into the seat. In a matter of seconds, you were asleep.
You were awoken by the sensation of the jet descending to land. Your head felt foggy, and your mouth was dryer than the Sahara.  You winced as you attempted to swallow, feeling like your throat was lined with razor blades. You sat up slowly, your head spinning from the change in position. Fuck. Fucking fuck. You knew exactly what this was. This was Karma coming back to bite you in the ass for that time you put salt in Bucky’s lemonade instead of sugar. It was hilarious at the time. You took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, trying to gather yourself and align your thoughts with the mission. It’s just a two mile walk to the car. Easy. Then a 40-minute drive to the base. Break in, find the files, get out and get back to the jet. With a final jolt, the jet landed, and Bucky appeared from the cockpit.  You stood up quickly, briefly using the wall to steady yourself, and began gathering your things. You didn’t want Bucky to catch on to the fact that you were getting sick. You can practically hear him making some comment about slowing him down or expecting special treatment and you weren’t having any of it. You always work hard, pulling your own weight and you weren’t about to let a little cold stop you from doing your job.
You threw your bag over your shoulder and headed for the ramp, trying to avoid looking at Bucky. You were still kind of pissed about what he said earlier and—oh no- --aahh choo! You sneezed: not once, not twice, but three times. You froze, turning your head slightly to the side to catch a glimpse of Bucky, feeling like you’d been made. He was staring at you impassively. You paused, trying to decide if you should say something, attempt to maintain the illusion of perfect health, but your sass came out instead.
“What? No smartass comment?” You prompted, sounding congested. Damnit, Y/N. Should’ve kept your mouth shut.
A crooked smile crept onto his face. “No, not at all. I was going to ask if you were allergic to hard work, but we didn’t actually do anything yet so…”
You narrowed your eyes at him, debating on throwing one of your knives at his head, but he would just deflect it. Suddenly, malaise hit you like a freight train, and you lost your resolve, really starting to feel like shit. Your eyes fluttered shut for a moment, trying to push the feeling aside, but you couldn’t shake it. No longer wanting to linger around Bucky, you turned to slowly walk down the ramp, trying to reserve whatever energy had left. You didn’t even look behind you to see if Bucky was following you as began walking in the direction of the car that was waiting a couple miles away. One step at time. Just get to the car.
Bucky followed you down the ramp, taking note of the sudden drop in your mood. He stayed in step with your pace, realizing you were walking much slower than normal, especially for being angry. Although, he had noticed the fire leave your eyes back on the ramp. “Hey,” he gently called out to you. You didn’t answer him. “Y/N,” a little louder. Still no answer. He quickened his stride to stand in front of you, putting his hands on your shoulders, stopping you from moving forward. You widened your eyes at the abrupt halt, an obvious look of surprise on your face. Confused, you looked down at his hand on your left shoulder and he quickly dropped his hands, worried he may have a crossed a boundary. You looked back up to his face, taking in his furrowed brow, his sincere eyes, before moving down to his perfectly plump lips. His mouth was moving, but you didn’t hear what he said.
“What?” you asked, seemingly dumbfounded.
“I’ve been calling your name. You didn’t answer me. Are you ok?”
“Yeah, I’m fine.”
“Are you sure? We can take a break if you—”
“NO! No..I said I’m fine, Barnes. Let’s go.” There was no way you were going to show any sign of weakness, especially in front of Bucky. You’d never hear the end of it. He let out a sigh as you pushed past him and kept walking.
When you reached the car, Bucky grabbed the key from under the wheel well as you dropped down into the passenger seat. Bucky was surprised when you didn’t insist on driving. You normally would and then make some comment about chauvinism. He smiled at the thought. As he approached the driver’s side door, he paused and leaned down into the window to look at you. You were leaning back on the head rest and your eyes were closed. Bucky studied your form for a moment, admiring your toned legs, evident even through your tac suit, trailing up to your smooth belly, smiling at your delicate hands, fingers meshed as they rested in your lap. His eyes were slowly traveling upwards when you suddenly let out a small whine, quickly drawing his attention to your face. It was then he noticed how flush your face was. Your cheeks were a striking scarlet and harsh against your paling complexion.
He opened the car door, startling you. You straightened up and kept your eyes trained out the windshield. Your hand gingerly rubbed the back of your neck, desperate to be rid of the soreness from your previous mission. After a moment, you realized Bucky was looking at you, but you were afraid to turn towards him. It was getting harder and harder to keep up this charade. You just wanted to get this mission over with and get back home to your warm, comfy bed.
“Y/N. Look at me.”
You closed your eyes, put on your best poker face, and shifted in your seat to face him. When you opened your eyes again, you saw nothing but concern etched on his face. Of course. He’s worried you’re going to screw up this mission. He picked up on the fact that you’re a little under the weather and now he must think you can’t get the job done.
“Are you okay?”
“Barnes- will you stop asking me that? I’m fine.”
“Your cheeks are red.” He reached his flesh hand up towards your forehead, but you instinctually leaned back, avoiding his touch, afraid to let your guard down and reveal how terrible you were actually feeling. He frowned and dropped his hand.
“Yeah, well. It’s cold and windy.”
“Not that cold.” He challenged you, voice saturated with unease.
“Says the super-soldier.”
His eyes searched your face, willing you to open up to him. After a moment, he resigned, turning his eyes to the road and starting the car. Feeling temporarily off the hook, you let out a shaky breath you didn’t realize you were holding. You looked out the window, your mind trying to make sense of how differently Bucky was acting. He had never really acted like he cared before and you weren’t sure what it all meant. Fatigue eventually won you over and you drifted off to sleep. Bucky glanced over at you as he drove, noticing the change in your breathing, signaling you had fallen asleep. He fought the urge to reach out and touch you, thinking about how you avoided his touch earlier. He was worried about you. Something is clearly going on with you, though he can’t really blame you for not confiding in him. He’s been an absolute dick, especially lately. He doesn’t understand why he acts this way. He doesn’t hate you, not at all. But acting like he hates you is easier than dealing with his real feelings towards you.
Bucky parks the car a few hundred yards from the abandoned HYDRA base and looks you over once more. Your cheeks are still red, dark circles hung under your eyes and he now noticed small beads of sweat collecting on your forehead. He softly called your name and gently nudged your arm with his elbow to wake you.
You slowly opened your eyes and tried to reorient yourself. You looked at Bucky. He gave you a small smile and slight nod before exiting the car to gather his gear. You took note of the headache now throbbing behind your eyes and the new tightness in your chest. Something about this just didn’t feel right. You’ve never gotten this sick this quickly before. What the hell is going on? You carefully stepped out of the car and leaned against it, fighting off the dizziness and wave of nausea that followed. Thankfully, Bucky didn’t notice. Except that he did. You didn’t realize he was watching you as you paused to regain your bearings. You gathered your strength and joined Bucky at the trunk of the car to grab your weapons, just in case.
After checking your pistol, you holstered it and quickly pulled your hair back into a ponytail. Bucky’s eyes widened as they immediately land on the back of your neck.
“What the hell is that? Are you hurt?” He urged, stepping closer to you.
“What?” You asked, completely oblivious to what he was asking.
“Your neck.” He moved even closer to you, reaching his arms out to the collar of your suit. You turned to face him, feeling self-conscious, not wanting to expose any part of yourself, but he wasn’t going to drop this. “Just…. let me look. Please.”
You stared into his pale blue eyes, laced with trepidation. Bucky is normally so calm and collected. It unnerved you to see this degree of concern. You turned around, giving him permission. He gently pulled your collar down further to reveal a large circular bruise, varying shades of purple and black sitting right above the base of your neck. And in the middle of the circle, a small drop of dried blood.
“Y/N, what the hell happened on your last mission?”
“What do you mean? What is it?” The worry inside you starting to grow.
“There’s a huge bruise…and blood. What happened?”
“I---” You thought hard. “I don’t know. We went to grab some HYDRA douchebag at one of their medical facilities. There were more guards than what we anticipated. I mean, I got hit, but it wasn’t that bad- didn’t even knock me down.” You turned to face Bucky again. “What’s going on?”
Bucky’s face relaxed slightly. Either he wasn’t that worried after all or he was putting on a mask for your benefit. “You’re sure you’re feeling okay?” He pressed once again.
“Yeah….let’s get the damn files already.” The desperation to get home was beginning to overwhelm you. You started heading for the base, but Bucky grabbed your arm.
“You would tell me if something was bothering you, right? If something was wrong?”
You locked eyes with him again. You didn’t want to lie to him, but you didn’t want to look incompetent and weak either. “Yeah, of course, Barnes. Let’s go.” A look lingered on his face that told you he didn’t believe you. You pushed forward anyway.
The abandoned base was not so abandoned, but it wasn’t anything you and Bucky couldn’t handle. The base wasn’t huge, but you insisted on splitting up to get out of there faster. Bucky took the hallway to the left and you took the right. After taking down your sixth guard, you felt winded and your chest tightened even further. You pressed your hand to the center of your chest, trying to calm your breathing. What the fuck. This wasn’t like you at all, but here you were, struggling to keep up with the onslaught of HYDRA trash. You jogged down the hall and after a few minutes, stumbled upon a computer room.
“I think I found it,” you breathlessly muttered into the comms.
“I’ll be right there.” You heard the sound of gunshots echoing through the hall.
You pulled the flash drive out of your front pocket and inserted it into the computer. You tried to bypass their firewalls, but your head was pounding and you could barely concentrate. Something is very wrong here. Before you could put any more thought into it, you felt a hand on your shoulder. You jumped and pulled your knife from your thigh holster. Thankfully, it was just Bucky. You had no idea he had entered the room and you internally reprimanded yourself for not noticing. Bucky raised his eyebrows at you in disbelief as you put your knife away. He quickly looked you over for injuries, noticing that you were drenched in sweat as you ran your sleeve across your forehead. You blinked your eyes several times, refocused yourself and began uploading the content onto the drive, while Bucky paced the room, keeping a lookout.
“Got it.” The files finally finished uploading and you pulled the drive and placed it back into your pocket.  You followed Bucky into the hallway and pulled your gun from the holster, preparing for any remaining HYDRA agents. You searched and cleared each room and were almost out of the building when a sudden chill ran up your spine making you shiver. You unwillingly slowed your pace, and your hands began to shake. You looked down at your hands and back up at Bucky who was now several steps ahead of you. A devastating surge of dizziness overpowered you and you stumbled, falling into the wall in an effort to keep yourself standing. Oh shit. Oh shit. Shit. Your vision blurred and blackness began to creep into the edges.
“Bucky…..” you called out weakly, barely managing a whisper. You couldn’t see him clearly. You didn’t know if he heard you or if he even realized you had stopped. “Bucky?” you said a little louder, desperation coating your voice.
Bucky turned to see you, several feet back, leaning against a wall, the color drained from your face. “Y/N? Fuck!” He ran back, reaching you just as you fell to your hands and knees. He cupped your face in his hands, guiding you to look at him, as you tried to lean your back against the wall.
“Talk to me, doll. What’s going on? Are you hurt?” He frantically ran his eyes over you, fearing he missed something before.
You squeezed your eyes shut and shook your head. “I- I don’t know.” Your breathing was uneven and shakey now. “I haven’t felt right since I got back from that mission. I thought it was just a cold or something, but this is worse. So much worse. I’ve never felt this bad before.” Your eyes stung with tears, but you couldn’t bring yourself to care anymore. To hell with being strong, you felt like you were dying. You opened your eyes, tears spilling over and running down your cheeks. You fisted your hands in your hair, feeling like your head was about to split open. Your lungs burned with every breath, your arms and legs ached down to the bone, feeling heavier and weaker by the minute. A sob broke out from your chest. Bucky ran his hand over your forehead and rested it on the back of your neck. You were burning up. Then Bucky remembered the strange circular bruise he saw on your earlier.
Immediately, Bucky pulled out his phone. You tried to remain calm, slow your breathing and clear your vision, but it wasn’t working, and you were so tired. You just wanted to close your eyes and sleep. The sound of Bucky’s worried voice broke through your thoughts.
“Steve? We have a problem. There’s something wrong with Y/N……I don’t know! She’s sick-- it happened fast—her last mission, what was it?.......Fuck! Why didn’t you tell her?!.........Steve, I think-I think they injected her with something. There’s a mark on her neck…..Fuck! Okay…..got it.” He put his phone away and looked down at your face again. Your eyes were closed and your head drifted down. “Hey, hey- open your eyes! Sweetheart, you gotta look at me.” He gently tapped your cheek and lifted your chin. You painfully lifted your eyelids, just enough to comply with his command. “We gotta go. Stay awake.”
He slid his arms underneath your shoulders and thighs with ease, gently hugging you to his chest to steady you as he took off down the hall and out of the building. Before you could even register what was happening, Bucky was placing you into the passenger side of the car.
“Bucky…..what’s…..what’s going on?” You were so confused and tired.
“We think you were injected with something on your last mission. Some kind of biological weapon HYDRA was working on. That’s why you were sent to grab that scientist, to find out what they were doing.”
You could feel tears gathering in your eyes again.  “Why didn’t they tell me?”
“They didn’t know, not until they interrogated the scientist you brought in.”
A small whimper escaped your lips as you brought your knees up to your chest, curling in yourself. You were sweating profusely but felt like you were sitting in ice as you began to shake violently from the chills racking your body. Bucky reached out to you, this time without hesitation, and placed his hand on your back to rub comforting circles.
“You’re gonna be okay. Just hang on, doll. We’re almost to the jet.” Bucky tried to stay calm for your sake, but inside, he was screaming. They didn’t know what this was or if there was anything they could do to stop it. He was afraid of losing you.
Bucky drove and parked the car closer to the jet than he should have but fuck the plan and fuck protocol. No one was following you and he needed to get you back to the compound as soon as possible. You managed to stay awake and opened the car door, attempting to stand on shaking legs. You took a step forward but didn’t have the strength to remain standing. Your knees buckled underneath you and you fell, crashing into Bucky’s chest as he rounded the car to help you.
“I’m sorry.” You mumbled weakly.
“Don’t apologize. You didn’t do anything wrong.”
He scooped you up into his arms again and carried you onto the jet, laying you down on the seat.  He disappeared into the cockpit and set the controls, before returning to your trembling figure. Silent tears slid down your cheek and vanished into your hair. You curled in on yourself even further. You squirmed in the seat and let out a small whimper; you were in so much pain. Your muscles spasmed painfully as chills continued to rack your body. Your breaths came short and fast, your chest feeling more constricted. Through all this you could feel your energy dwindling, Bucky’s heart was breaking, watching you suffer so immensely and not being able to do anything about it. He sat down beside you and lifted your head to lay it in his lap. He stroked your hair, brushing strands out of your face as you continued to shake.
You hadn’t spoken in a while. Bucky could tell that you were losing strength. You were giving up. He needed to keep you focused on something, anything.
“Doll, I—” then his phone rang. He stood slowly, gently placing your head back on the seat before answering.
“Steve?.......she’s, uh…..she’s not good, man……she’s burning up and she can’t stop shaking. I….” He turned his back to you, whispering now. “I think she’s giving up……okay…we’ll land in 20 minutes…… Right.” He ended the call. With his back still turned to you, Bucky pinched the bridge of his nose and blinked back tears that were threatening his eyes.
“Bucky?”
Bucky whipped his head around, surprised to see you sitting up, but you looked worse. Your expression was blank, eyes vacant, and you began to sway. You didn’t feel right, but this was different. Your head was spinning, and you swallowed thickly, trying to keep yourself from getting sick.
“I don’t --”
Bucky took a hurried step toward you and your eyes rolled into the back of your head as you collapsed onto the floor of the jet.
“Y/N! Y/N!” Bucky was on his knees at your side, rolling you onto your back. He tried to shake you awake, but you weren’t responding. He watched your chest, relieved to see you were still breathing, though your shallow breaths were barely visible. He placed his fingers to your neck, finding a weak pulse.
“Come on, doll! I need you to wake up. Come on.” He pleaded with you, but you couldn’t hear him.  He stayed with you, only leaving your side to land the jet. He carried you down the ramp, running to the medical team that was waiting just outside, placing you on the gurney. Steve was waiting there too.
“What happened?” Steve demanded information as he and Bucky followed the medical team rushing you into the compound.
“I don’t know. She was acting different. She didn’t look well, kept falling asleep. I saw that bruise on her neck.” Bucky nervously ran his fingers through his hair. “Then we were leaving the base and she got dizzy, couldn’t walk, and started shaking. She was shaking so bad.” Steve could tell Bucky was struggling to keep it together and rested his hand on his shoulder. “She passed out right before we landed. I couldn’t get her to wake up…I- I should have said something sooner. I should have called off the mission the second I knew something wasn’t right.” Bucky took a deep breath and rubbed his palms into his eyes.
“It’s okay, pal. You couldn’t have known. You got her here. The doctors will figure it out.” Steve patted Bucky’s shoulder.
Bucky sat in the chair beside your bed, his thumb rubbing gentle circles on the back of your hand. You were still unconscious. You wore an oxygen mask and IVs in both arms. As much as it pained Bucky to see you this way, he couldn’t tear his eyes away from you. After intense persuasion from Captain America, the HYDRA scientist had revealed an antiviral treatment. They started the treatment a few hours after you had arrived back at the compound. That was a couple days ago, and you had yet to wake up. The doctors had told Bucky your fever was dangerously high, and they weren’t sure how it was going to affect your brain. A tear ran down his cheek as guilt continued to consume him. He knew something was wrong at the start of the mission and because he had acted like a dick and said such mean things to you, you didn’t feel like you could confide in him. Now, you were laying in this hospital bed with the potential to never recover.
On the third day, you opened your eyes. Bucky was resting his head on the side of your bed. You reached your hand up, trying to grasp the oxygen mask that rested over your face. This startled Bucky and he jumped up, gently wrapping his hands around your wrists and bringing them to your sides.
“Hey- hey. You gotta leave that on, doll.” A huge smile spread across his face. He thought he would never see your beautiful eyes again.  As quickly as his smile came, it faded, as he registered the lingering confusion on your face. He realized that you might not be the same person you were a few days ago. The doctor’s words swirled in his head. Potential brain damage. Memory issues. Physical disabilities. The truth is, they just didn’t know and now that you were awake, Bucky was facing the harsh reality of the situation. Your breaths came in short and rushed. Bucky saw the confusion in your eyes morph into fear, a few tears escaping the brims.
“Bucky….” Your voice cracked.
He breathed a huge sigh of relief. You knew him. He sat back down, holding your hands in his.
“You’re okay, sweetheart.” He brushed your tears away with his thumb before taking your hand back in his. “Do you remember what happened?”
Your eyes darted back and forth, looking for memories that weren’t coming. You shook your head faintly.
Bucky swallowed hard, preparing himself to recount the events of the past few days.
“We were on a mission and….you got sick.  HYDRA had injected you with a new virus. Something they designed. You got hit on a previous mission but didn’t realize what they had done. None of us did. But we found out about a treatment and you’re okay now. You’re safe.”
The memories suddenly flooded back to you, realization casting a shadow on your face.
“I thought I was going to die…” you remembered.
“Y/N, I am so sorry. I knew something wasn’t right from the beginning and I should have ended the mission right then. Maybe if I had, it wouldn’t have been so bad. “
You looked up at him with incredulity. “Bucky, it’s okay. This isn’t your fault. I should have said something, but I was too stubborn. I didn’t want you to think I couldn’t handle it, that I was weak.”
“Because I was being such an asshole.”
“Yeah, you were” the corner of your mouth curved up into a half smile and Bucky chuckled. You still had your spark. “….but why?”
Bucky was silent for several moments. “Because I like you. But I don’t deserve to have someone like you. I thought if I said enough hateful things, it would help me keep my distance, convince myself that I don’t have these feelings.”
You were silent, unsure of how to respond. Then you realized that Bucky was holding your hands, as he brought the back of your hand up to place a gentle kiss there.
“Bucky….” You began and he chuckled. “What?”
“You always called me Barnes. You never called me Bucky until….you got sick.”
“Oh.” You hadn’t realized you had dropped the façade. “I guess I just got tired of pretending that….that I don’t like you. But I do…..like you….A LOT.” You felt your cheeks growing red with embarrassment. There’s no going back now.
You hesitantly looked at Bucky and couldn’t help but smile. He wore the biggest smile you have ever seen.
____________________________________________________________________________________
The next day, you had recovered enough to be discharged from the medical wing. You insisted you could walk back to your room, waving away the nurse when he brought a wheelchair. You sat on the edge of your hospital bed, struggling to pull on your shoes. You had already managed your sweatpants, t-shirt, and socks, but even just that left you exhausted. You were feeling much better, but your body still ached, and fatigue seemed to find you quickly with even the smallest of tasks. Fuck it. You don’t need shoes. You huffed in frustration, weakly throwing your sneakers across the room. When you looked up, you noticed Bucky entering your room, twisting slightly to dodge the footwear assault.
He raised his eyebrows at you in surprise before realization settled onto his face. “You okay?” He asked gently before picking your sneakers up off the floor.  He calmly kneeled in front of you, slipping your shoes on each foot, with ease. At first, you couldn’t answer, your eyes avoiding him and the situation.
“I just hate this….I can’t even put on my damn shoes.” You felt defeated. And tired. Really fucking tired.
Bucky, still kneeling in front of you, lifted your chin with one finger, so your eyes were level with his.
“Y/N, you almost died a few days ago. Cut yourself some slack. Your strength will return, and you’ll be kicking ass again in no time.” His mouth curved into a soothing smile. You nodded your head, still feeling displeased with yourself. “You ready?” he continued, offering his hand.
You took his hand, gripping tightly as he helped you stand. The walk back to your private room in the compound was slow and tortuous. You had to take several breaks, but Bucky was more than patient. He was understanding and compassionate. You wished you had the chance to know this Bucky long before now. He was being sweet, and you were really enjoying it.
You were extremely relieved when your bed came into view. Bucky helped you into it, seeing the exhaustion taking over. He left the bedroom without saying a word, and you felt the panic rise in your chest. For the first time, you really felt his absence. You didn’t want to be alone. You felt tears prick at your eyes and you settled back against your pillow, trying to keep your tears at bay. Then you heard the closing of a cupboard door and Bucky reappeared, holding a glass of water and some Tylenol.  Bucky looked you over, settling on your glassy eyes.
His eyes narrowed. “Hey, what’s wrong? Does something hurt?” He moved to place the glass and pills on the nightstand next your bed. He brought his hand up to brush a few strands of hair out of your face as he sat on the edge of your bed.
You softly shook your head. “I thought you left.” You admitted.
He stayed quiet, considering what you said, his hand coming to rest behind your head. “Did you want me to leave?” He looked heartbroken.
You didn’t want him to leave, ever.  But you weren’t sure how to say that without sounding completely pathetic. You always tried to keep up with your tough exterior and you were uncomfortable with all this vulnerability you had been showing lately. When you didn’t say anything, Bucky stood and headed for the door.
“Bucky- wait!” You panicked at the thought of actually being alone this time. “I don’t want to be alone. Please…will you stay with me?”
Bucky stopped in his tracks and turned to look at you.
The genuine smile on his face, warmed you in a way you had never felt before. You moved over in the bed, pulling back the cover, inviting Bucky to lay with you. He pulled off his boots and slid into the bed behind you, wrapping his arms around you, resting his chin on your shoulder. You had never felt safer than you had at this moment. It almost surprised you with ‘at home’ you feel in his arms.
“Bucky?” you whispered. “Thank you for being there for me.” You weren’t just talking about today.
“Of course, doll.” He placed a gentle kiss to the top of your head. “For as long as you need me.”

Hey babes! I get car sick pretty easily? Can you possibly write one where their little girl gets car sick? 🥺🥺
Hi there love! 💜
I'm car sick too so i'm totally understanding you.
Thank you for the request love, I hope you like how i turned it ❤️
Enjoy <3
****
Warnings : Little reader is sick, little reader throw up, long car ride, comfort for being sick, kisses, pet name
Pairings : Daddies!Stucky ; Daddy!Bucky x Papa!Reader x Little!Reader
Summary : ⤴️⤴️
****
It was suppose to be a great day. It's been weeks you were waiting to go in a holiday with your daddies but now you regret it. You didn't asked yourself if it was a long car ride you were going to do. You just concentrated on the days you'll spend under the sun with your favorite men in the whole entire world. Now you go back home and the ride seems much longer than the one you used to get there the first day
You whine on the backseat getting your Daddy's attention, he looks behind him and looks at you "what's wrong, little one ?" he asks resting a hand on your knee "Are you hungry ?" his hand strokes your knee as he tries to understand what's wrong. You shake your head and he tilts his head "you're bored of the long ride ?"
You nod your head, thinking he understood what you were trying to say but he justs nods his head and gives you a little smile "we'll be here soon, baby. Twenty more minutes" he winks at you before looking back at the road. Your face grimace from the tears coming into your eyes and you kick your legs softly, and whine again.
The car stops at a red light and your Papa turns around "are you thirsty ?" he asks trying to figure out what is happening to you. You shake your head and let out a tear confusing more your daddies "baby, tell us what happened ? Are you tired ?" Your Daddy asks but once again, you shake your head
Your daddies look at each other and at that moment, you feel everything you ate in the morning running up your body and going out of you by your mouth. Your Papa puts the car on the side of the road and quickly goes out of the car. He gets you out of the car as well and sats with you on the ground "it's okay, sweetie. Let it out, you'll feel better afterward" he reassures you. He grabs your hair and quickly puts them in a ponytail so it doesn't go in your face.
Your Daddy comes to you with a bottle of water, and two towels. He wets one of the towel with the cold water and rests it on your forehead while you keep throwing up. They reassure you and try to calm your sobs and loud breathes. You whine and grab you Papa’s wrist ‘’Papaa’’ you say just before sniffing. He rocks you from side to side slowly and softly to not make you more sick ‘’I’m here sweetie. I’m here, you’re okay, just let it out and then you’ll feel better’’ he gently repeats while stroking your hair
You look beside you and see your Daddy looking down at you with soft eyes. He smiles down at you and strokes your cheek as you sniff again. You melt into his touch and close your eyes, the tears falling on your daddy’s hand.
You feel sick again so you bench over and squeeze your Papa’s thigh and your daddy’s wrist. You take deep breath from your nose and exhale deeply from your mouth, just like your daddies told you to. This time you succeed by throwing away the nauseas and you fall against your Papa’s chest, feeling exhausted. You swallow and close your eyes, your Daddy puts his hand on your forehead ‘’do you feel better ?’’ He asks quietly.
You shake your head and whimper ‘’home’’ you say, barely above a whisper. Bucky looks at Steve and nods his head. Steve nods his head right after Bucky and he lifts you up in his arms. Bucky goes in the backseat with you and hold the wet towel against your forehead while Steve drives back home.
They were scared you would be sick again because of the ride and you were scared too, but your Papa drives as fast as he can so it won’t be long until you’re in the warmth of your house. Your Daddy helps you going out of the car and he lifts you up in his arms, he puts you on his hip and you rest your head on his shoulder. Steve rushed inside and goes grab your stuffie and your paci. He knows you’re not feeling well at all so he want to do everything he can to make you feel better.
When your daddy closes the front door, he starts to untie your shoes with one hand while his vibranium arm hold you. He puts them on the ground and remove your sockets too, he puts them in your shoes and starts to walk inside the house, warming your feet as he strokes them. Before he can go to the stairs, he sees Steve running down them. He puts the paci in your mouth and gives you Bucksie.
Bucky smirks at his husband, he loves seeing him like this, it’s always so funny. He gets worried for small things and it usually make you and your daddy laughing when you see your Papa running around the house.
‘’Let’s get you ready for bed’’ they walk upstairs and even if they want to give you a bath or a shower to clean you and refresh you, they know you can’t handle that right now. Your Daddy rests you on the counter beside the sink. He removed your shirt and your pants, leaving you with nothing but your underwear. You start shiver making your Daddy smiles sweetly. He kisses your belly before turning around to grab a washcloth.
He wets it with hot water and runs it on your entire body. When the washcloth touches your skin it warmth you up a bit but when it leaves that part of skin, it doesn’t stay warm at all. He slides the washcloth down your legs and on your feet. You curled your toes and kick your legs giggling when he slides the warm thing in between your toes making him grin at you. You keep shivering until your Daddy puts a huge towel around your body. He strokes your arms and back to warmth you up a bit, he carries you to the bedroom and you see your Papa beside the bed, preparing everything for the night.
Your Daddy rests you on the huge bed and kisses your belly before disappearing in the bathroom. Your Papa takes over him and starts dressing you. He grabs your pyjama pants and slides it on your legs, he sits you and puts the bottom of your pyjama on you. Once he's done, he opens the cover and helps you get into it. He pulls the cover to your neck and rests it just under your chin. He opens his arms for you and you snuggle against him.
After a moment, you feel the bed moving and feel arms adding themselves around your trembling body. Your Daddy kisses the back of your neck and your Papa kisses your forehead. You close your eyes and snuggle closer to them, you pull your daddy closer to you while you're scotch against your Papa.
"sleep, little one. You need it. We won't go anywhere"
"Sweet dream, sweetness"
"We love you...
...so much"

Thinking about Bucky visiting you while you're sick. You're terrified you're going to get him sick as well, but he's quick to remind you that he's basically immune thanks to the serum. Once he tells you that, you're almost immediately crawling onto his lap. His extra warm body feels extra inviting due to your fever. He'd hold you close, not wanting to set you down even after you've fallen asleep. It's the first amount of sleep you'd managed to get since falling ill. Bucky would make it his mission to help you feel better. He'd make sure to hold you all night, continuously checking your temperature and making sure you drink plenty of fluids. All the times he'd helped Steve when he was sick would come in handy. Despite it being over 70 years, he'd remember the little things that always helped. "It's okay, doll. I've got you."

Sick day

Description: you’ve been keeping quiet about you being sick with a little cold you’ve caught because you didn’t want Tom to stop everything he was doing just to take care of you, that is until he still finds you in bed.
Pairing: Tom holland x black fem reader
Note: just another shitty writing :-(
-
Tom woke up and looked around the room, everything seem a bit…off, usually y/n magenta silk bonnet would be on the dresser next to the scarf she puts on before bed, her clothes would be thrown on the end of the bed and there would be 3 pairs of shoes since she can’t seem to decide what to wear.
Tom looked to the side, to see his wife sleeping peacefully, her beautiful dark skin shined because the light shined through the curtains. Her hair was wrapped up or so she thought, her box braids slipped out of the bonnet and scarf. Y/n started to cough in her sleep, it went from small coughs to being awoken up from coughing.
“Hey honey, you okay?” Tom said to his wife while running to her side. She nodded still coughing, she then pointed to the little trash can across the room “hand me that” she said in between the coughs
Tom got up and put the trash in front of his wife as spit in the trash. “Yuck” y/n said putting the trash to the side of the bed “y/n are you sick?” Tom asked rubbing her back “yeah but I’ll be fine in no time, you can continue your work, no need to worry” she said with a weak smile
“I don’t think that’s a good idea, you can barely move” he said with a concerned look painted on his face, she frowned because she knew this would happen. “I’ll be right back” Tom said while grabbing his phone and walking out of the bedroom.
Y/n sighed and laid back down in bed, before she knew it she was gone, Tom walked back in and saw her sleeping quietly. He tucked her in and tried to at least put her braids back in the bonnet so they won’t get messed up.
He kissed y/n’s forehead and exited out the room to make some soup for her.
-
When he was finished he brought the hot bowl of soup and some crackers to her, placing it on the nightstand beside the bed, he tapped her. “Honey wake up, I made soup” he said softly
Y/n sat up groggily and sighed, she rubbed her eyes tiredly and looked at the soup. She grabbed the bowl and started to eat some, she ate half the soup and some crackers.
Then proceeded to lay back down, her husband looked at her while she drifted back to sleep, tom placed the damn near empty soup bowl back on the nightstand and sat down at the end of the bed watching over y/n as she slept peacefully.

This song was kinda my inspo….it was literally playing when I was writing this🧍🏾

Sick: 2
“Hello?” Helen says.
“We have an emergency. Something is wrong with Sam.”
“Are you sure you need me?” She asks and you get a sick feeling in your stomach, she thinks this is a fake call.
“Cho! This isn’t a Thor is in his underwear running around the compound kind of call! This is a get here now!”
“Oh, oh my god.” She says as it seems to click for her that you’re absolutely serious. “I’m so sorry,” you hear her say, “There’s an emergency at the Tower, I have to go.” You can hear her parents say something but you don’t know what, “I love you guys.” She says to them, “I’m on my way.” She says to you and you can hear her moving.
“Shit. We need to check on Clint and Tony too. They didn’t show up for movie night.”
“You should stay away from them.” She says, and you let out a quick laugh,
“Helen, I’m probably the best person to get close to them. I don’t get sick, not since my accident.” Ever since you’d been given this power you were unable to get sick, not a cold, not a flu, not even an infection.
“Okay fine. Just keep everyone else away from them.”
“Bucky carried Sam to the hospital wing.”
“Have him decontaminate. Try and keep Sam cool until I can get there. Cool cloths would be best. Cool the room down too.”
“Okay.” You agree sprinting into the room. “Bucky, strip and decontaminate.” You tell him and when he looks at you like you’re crazy you shrug and say, “Cho’s orders.”
“For the record I didn’t say it like that.” She says over FRIDAY but Bucky is already pulling off his shirt on his way to the decontamination shower.
“FRIDAY send DUM-E with some clothes from his room.”
“There should be a pack in there for him.” Helen tells you, you can tell that she’s in a car now, heading toward you, “Get Sam cool.” You hear the shower turn on and make your way to the sink. You pull out some pillowcases and turn on the cold water. You’re wringing out the extra water when Steve pulls open the door.
“Stop!” He freezes in the doorway, “Sam is sick, we’re not sure what’s wrong because I helped him this morning and now he’s unconscious and burning up. You need to stay out.”
“I have the serum.” He reminds you but you’re still not exactly comfortable with him coming in.
“Mask up.” You tell him, and Steve nods then pulls a mask off of the wall as Bucky comes out of the shower in clean clothes with his other clothes in a yellow biohazard bag. “You too Buck. Mask up.”
“Yes ma’am.” He teases as Steve throws him a mask.
“Doll, please mask for my sanity.” Steve asks and you give him a fond little eye roll but you do as he asks and grab a mask from the wall and tug it on your face.
“Steve get out of here. Bucky you’ve already touched him since you carried him in here so I need your help. Cho said to keep him cool, I need you to turn down the heat in here. Then we need to check on Tony and Clint.” You tell him as Steve helps your wring out the wet pillow cases. “Steve go.” You order him and his concerned eyes meet yours. “Please.” He nods as Bucky crosses the room and turns the thermostat down.
“Should I tell the others?”
“No.” You tell him glancing over your shoulder at him, “We don’t need to start a panic.”
“Okay.”
“Just go back to the movie. Bucky check on Tony and Clint. If they’re like Sam get them here then shower again and go to the movie.”
“Are you sure?” Bucky asks as he too moves toward the door.
“Yes.” You pack the wet cloth around Sam. You cut the shirt off of Sam and place one of the pillowcases over him, you try to think of what else you can do to keep him cool. You’re not sure you’re powers will be much help but you gently touch his cheek anyway. “Keep sleeping Sam, keep sleeping so you can keep fighting.” You can’t help but murmur.
Before you know it Bucky comes back into the hospital wing with Tony slung over his shoulder. You can’t help but notice how much gentler he’s being with Tony than he was with Sam.
“His temp up too?” You ask as Bucky puts Tony on a bed next to Sam.
“Yea, I haven’t checked Clint yet but I’m not optimistic if these two are like this.”
You throw more pillow cases into the sink as Helen comes rushing in.
“Tony too?”
“Yea, I told Steve to keep his mouth shut and get out of here. Bucky is going to go and check on Clint.”
“Do you have any idea what this could be?”
“Sam just didn’t feel good. I didn’t get any specifics but it felt like the beginning of the flu or a really bad cold. Nothing that should do this.” You tell her gesturing to your unconscious friend. Helen puts on some hazmat gear as Bucky hurries back out of the hospital as you wring out the towels for Tony.
“I put Sam to sleep, you want me to do the same to Tony?” You ask as you cut his shirt off too, when he wakes up you’re never going to hear the end of this, cutting one of his soft, expensive shirts.
“Yea,” She agrees as she puts an IV in Sam, “I want to draw blood too.”
“I thought you might. Once I’m done with Tony-“
“You’ll have to get to work on Clint.” Bucky interrupts and your gaze swings to the doorway where he’s supporting Clint who is clinging to consciousness.
“Shit.”
“Bucky, shower again. We’re putting you in the quarantine room.” Helen says as she moves to the other side of Sam to draw blood.
“Yea.” Bucky agrees, not seeming surprised by this information before easing Clint onto one of the beds. Clint’s body shakes with coughs and you move to him.
“Clint?”
“Do it.” He croaks answering your unasked question and after a quick glance over at Helen who nods you place your hands on him and let him sleep. He’s not as hot as the other two but you know that if you’re not careful he’s going to be.
You and Helen run around like crazy for the next couple of hours, you focus on keeping their temperatures down and she focuses on trying to figure out what the hell they’re sick with. You’re so drained, you’ve never constantly had to use your powers like this, and it doesn’t seem to be doing much good.
You don’t leave until the sun is up. Steve is standing on the other side of the glass, tapping it gently.
“Honey. You need to get some sleep.” You see him say the words more than you hear them.
“I know. I’m going to take one of the quarantine rooms.” You say back and he frowns. You know he worries, you are, or were, only human and still needed to sleep.
“Honey,”
“I know. I know. But I can’t leave them Steve. What if something happens because I left?” You tell him through the glass, your eyes filling with tears.
“You can’t help them if you don’t take care of yourself.” You know he’s right, in your head you do but in your heart you can’t leave them. “I’ll come in there.”
“FRIDAY has strict instructions to not allow anyone else in.” You counter and he looks amused.
“You think that would stop me?” He challenges and you frown at him.
“I hope the serious threat of illness or death would.”
“You need sleep.”
“I know but how am I supposed to when our friends could die?” You ask your voice breaking and Steve presses a hand to the glass.
“Honey, please come out.” He says, the concern is evident in those bright eyes of his. “Please.” You glance over your shoulder at Sam, Clint and Tony. “You can’t help them if you’re exhausted.”
“I agree.” Helen says sleepily, “but she can’t come out.”
“What?”
“I’ll watch over everyone and keep working until Jemma gets here but you need to take a breath and be quarantined from others. You and I are already exposed.”
“I’m a super solider.” Steve argues but Cho shakes her head.
“We can’t take the risk.” When she sees how crestfallen he looks she adds, “I’m sorry.”
“You’ll go to sleep?” Steve asks and you sigh heavily,
“Yes.” He studies you for a second, as if he’s trying to decide if he believes you or not. “I promise.”
“Okay. I’ll come by later okay?”
“Okay, I love you.”
“I love you too Honey.” Steve says before Helen ushers you into one of the quarantine rooms.
“You’ll wake me if you need me?”
“Yes.” She promises before she closes the door and you go to sleep.

im personally sick of how fandoms and the fanfiction community in general is towards x reader fics
like for fucks sake im sick of it being primarily feminine readers and yeah I get that fanfiction essentially started in fangirls but the community has since grown and its so rare for me to see even gender neutral readers let alone masculine ones
fanfiction has soo many m/m relationships but everybody keeps making m/f x readers because god fucking forbid a gay guy is interested in a masculine character most women are also into
you cant hog these characters for fucks sake they should be for all of us
.. sorry that was a lot but my point still stands
this is probably one of those “be the change you want to see” kind of solutions but cmon
