I don’t really care about Disney Princess movies because y’know, I’m almost 25, but it does make me sad that they just don’t seem to do villains anymore. Like, at all. The last good disney Princess villain was from like 2009. It makes me sad because as a young queer goth kid I loved the villains, i literally only watched the movies to see the villains. Disney villains used to slap and then they just. Stoped. Who are the weird little emo kids supposed to look up to now? The dude from Frozen who was just sort of an asshole? The lava monster from Moana who turned out to be the good guy?

Why did fun villains go out of style anyway? I would argue that some of the older bad guys are more iconic than the protagonists. Does anyone remember the plot of Sleeping Beauty or do you just remember Maleficent slaying absolute cunt? Because that’s all I remember. I had a plush Maleficent dragon. Where are the dragons now

It doesn’t even matter if I particularly cared for a show I’ll always be devastated for the fans of any show that gets cancelled. I understand that there’s financial reasons as to why a show may not be allowed to continue but at this point streaming platforms need to be asking themselves why is it that they’re cancelling all these shows? If they want a hit show it has to be given time to grow and develop its audience. And then regardless of that fact, people who have invested their time in a story deserve to see its completion. It’s so undeniably evil for corporations to continue to axe shows without warning not just for the fans of the show, but for everyone involved as well. The emotion and heart put into these pieces of media is always so visible and it’s soul crushing watching an industry throw it away. Fans and creatives deserve to see stories told with a complete arc because otherwise why are we bothering with these streaming platforms?

Y’all remember this show?

Wanna know something interesting? Disney had a rule called “65 and DONE.” This meant that, no matter HOW popular, a show was only allowed 65 episodes before it it was finished and the studio moved on to another project.

Well, Kim Possible reached that 65 number, AND had a movie finale to finish it off. It was over. DONE. It had it’s popular run, at good amount of episodes, AND a large scale finale to end all things.

BUT!

Fans were NOT done.

Before facebook, before instagram, before twitter and TikTok. Fans all over the world, sent THOUSANDS OF LETTERS to Disney. So many, that DISNEY BROKE IT’S OWN RULE, to bring it back for a full FOURTH SEASON! I’m not talking 13 episodes to placate the fans. KP had a full 22 episodes.

So if this show can be OVER but still RISE From the ashes, I don’t see why ROTTMNT can’t! I know everyday the fandom feels like it’s shrinking, like more people are moving on, but impossible things have happened before.

I liked it but

I mean, I just miss Percy being kind of oblivious

The whole trio being oblivious

They just figure everything out so quickly in this show

Can we not just have a little bit of incompetence?

They are children. They should be allowed to mess up.

AND Percy has ADHD, I know for me, I am super oblivious. A lot of times, I just don't get things until they're spelled out for me. It's one of the reasons I related so much to book Percy, we're both a little stupid (obviously not stupid stupid but yk what I mean).

Anyway, spoilers from here down

Hades is *chef's kiss*. Although I love his more emo (brooding) book counterpart, I really love this slightly awkward portrayal of Hades. It does make me wonder about the tweaks to Nico's story they're going to have to make down the line, but I like this characterization of Hades a lot more so far.

That scene was heartbreaking

I am absolutely loving the flashback scenes, something we never got in the books but something that adds a lot to the story.

Also, I really like the design of the underworld. It's very good. It feels slightly liminal, and I appreciate that. Also, the sheer MASSIVENESS and cavernous feel of Hades' palace is great because it's so looming, and it scares me. Like it feels like those big white rich people apartments you see in magazines (except those are somehow less cozy than the god of the dead's palace) it gives me this scary empty anxiety. 10/10 very good.

I love Walker's performance. He's perfect as Percy. And the little guy who plays little Percy is also doing a great job. I'm really enjoying the casting, I think that's my favorite part of the show.

Watching the pjo TV series has made me wish we were on 2009. Why? Gee I don’t know, remember when shows used to last 40 good old minutes and had 24 episodes? We were living the good life and we didn’t know it.

Am I enjoying the show? 100% but that doesn’t mean I haven’t realized how SHORT it is. We really have info dumping every single episode and it’s important but I also want to see small interactions. Little things happening on screen where people interact, even if it is them looking into space, I want those.
