Reminder that bela lugosi, the guy who played dracula in the 1931 film, was buried in his dracula costume bc he was so obsessed with that role
I love him

A brave man's blood is the best thing on this earth when a woman is in trouble.
- Dracula, Bram Stoker
Gotta love a classic lit take. Bro, blood is blood no matter where it comes from. A character trait doesn't define the quality of blood, lol. Obviously, considering the context of the novel and the time period, it makes sense. Moreover, it's the bias of the 19th century.

One thing that I love about Dracula is the efficiency of horror.
We have three telegrams, and as we read the two first, we are filled with a sense of hope - yes, Lucy is getting better! It's gonna be okay, right?
And then we read the last one. And we aren't told what exactly happens, Bram Stockers builds tension. We know it's terrible, but we don't know why, and the fear of the unknown is the most powerful one.

To-day is a grey day, and the sun as I write is hidden in thick clouds, high over Kettleness. Everything is grey—except the green grass, which seems like emerald amongst it; grey earthy rock; grey clouds, tinged with the sunburst at the far edge, hang over the grey sea, into which the sand-points stretch like grey fingers.
