Hey Pookies💕, Welcome backkk!! To lighten up the atmosphere a bit from last week’s review, today we have a fantasy book by the name of, A Court of Thorn and Roses. This book was plastered all over booktok so I’m sure many of you may have heard about it or even read it. But let’s act like this is the first time you’re seeing it🤭.
Tumblr media
Mini-Summary
A Court of Thorns and Roses follows Feyre, a skilled hunteress, who is the main provider for her impoverished family. On one of her hunts, she kills a wolf, which unbeknownst to her, was a magical creature. To atone for her doing she is taken prisoner by a High Fae Lord. Feyre soon learns that this realm is not what she thought it to be. What is this realm? Does Feyre survive? Find out by giving this book a read :)
Likes and Dislikes
-Despite not being a regular fantasy reader because of the complexity of most worldbuilding and the overall complexity of some fantasy books (I also just prefer romance or psychological type books🤭), I actually enjoyed this book quite a bit. What particularly stood out to me was the book's simplicity, both in terms of language and worldbuilding. The inclusion of a visual map at the beginning was also a nice touch to break down the worldbuilding and give readers a better understanding. One of the best parts of this book was how the writer wrote the characters. She delved into their pasts and their traumas and added layers of depth that resonated throughout the entire story (and from what I’ve been told, throughout other books). Aside from a slow pacing at its start(which is relatively normal for the first book in a book series), the ending of the book was quite appealing.
-Though most of the characters were really well written, I would’ve loved to see more perspectives of the other characters because including different points of view, in my opinion, would’ve made the storytelling a lot better. However, since I've just started this book series, I'm curious to see if this changes throughout the other books. Another thing that didn’t really appeal to me was some of the development of the main character. Initially, she was portrayed as a strong huntress and provider for her family however, her choices throughout the story deviated from her established characterization and while I won't talk about specific instances (as to not give any spoilers), this inconsistency in her behavior kind of dropped the quality for me personally.
Aside from the initial slow pacing and some character choices, the author’s ability to world-build and write really complex yet understandable characters really made this an overall enjoyable read.
Age rating- 17+
Genres- Fantasy, Young Adult Fiction, Novel
Do I recommend?-Yes, I recommend you give it a read and don’t let the initial slow pace deter you.
Trigger Warnings- Ab*se, Violence, Death, Gore

"I admired his smile and the way he talked. I loved him. I was yearning for his attention. Unseen by him, I watched him from afar, separated by an invisible gap of wealth. Striving to bridge it, I studied relentlessly. Yet, as I believed I had conquered, it was too late – my love went unnoticed. Accepting the unbridgeable gap, I turned to resentment. Trying to move on, I concealed my feelings. Unable to truly let go, I ignored my heart’s cry. Despite having it all, a heavy sadness lingered. The universe’s disdain led me to him, a painful encounter. Vowing not to feel that way again, I closed my heart, not even for him."

Posted @withrepost • @willow.timber.tom Tom! Tom! Tom! Second time meeting @t22felton !!! Thanks to @kacixjarvis for a ticket. I was doing well. Not crying too much and was able to stop crying when I met him. I had two tickets because my dad was with me and 3 books because I pre ordered when it was first announced. One of them was signed by him for me, one of them is the pre order which I don't have yet and the last one was for my friend Elisabeth! Tom told me I was really kind for giving her a book, thanked me for pre ordering and then said "are you a pottah fan? I can see you are a willow fan" because I was wearing the merch. I said yes and I asked for a photo and he said "of course! Can I have a hug first" I obviously said yes and hugged him, probably tighter than he was expecting but it was fine because he squeezed me too!!! (Also other people had come out saying that they had to ask him nicely for a hug and that we should all ask him but he asked me!!!!!!!!) And then I cried on him. And he'd asked me for the hug before the photo so it was too late for the whole no tears thing to work but he is the best human and gives the best hugs. 3rd times the charm! Hopefully I won't cry then. Also if anyone had any photos of me with tom DM me 💚💚🦆🦆 @waterstones #tom #felton #tomfelton #booktour #tomfeltonbooksigning #tomfeltonbooksigning #t22felton #meetandgreet #booksigning #beyondthewand #celebrity #tomfeltonfans #tomfeltonlover #tomfletonphoto #t22feltonfan #dracomalfoy #harrypotter #lucasz #peagreenclock https://www.instagram.com/p/CjpYEJFKm6S/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

"If you haven't picked this up, I recommend it! It's a graphic novel with 5 short Holocaust stories interwoven with fantasy. My favorites are one where a hiding family looks out their window and finds a portal to another world, and a girl who's grandma gives her a magic shell that shows her the family she would have we're the Holocaust never to have happened. Truly thought provoking!"
Grateful for this touching review from @jodieleaanders on 'Courage to Dream.' 🌟 It’s reviews like these that remind me why storytelling matters. This graphic novel weaves together five Holocaust stories with elements of fantasy, creating a tapestry that challenges and inspires. From portals to other worlds to magical shells revealing alternate realities, each story is a journey into the 'what-ifs.' If you're looking for a thought-provoking read that blends history with imagination, 'Courage to Dream' awaits.

Book Tour Reviews - 1
Spirituality, Healing and Me
‘Book Tour Reviews’
I am currently doing a ‘book tour review tour’ for ‘Spirituality, Healing and Me’ to celebrate the launch of the book in the USA on the 1st May, 2022. If you’re interested in buying a copy, I would be grateful for your support.
banksyyy_books
First of all, thank you so much to @ilana_estelle_author for the proof copy and @instabooktours for organising this book tour!
I often find it very difficult to rate non-fiction, therefore I will discuss which aspects of this book I enjoyed more than others.
I believe that spirituality is about “what makes me me”. As a trainer in the mental health industry, I often discuss the importance of attitudes, beliefs and values in shaping our actions and experiences. It was so great to see this mirrored in the pages of Ilana’s book. I admire Ilana’s ability to remain positive in spite of all the hardships she has encountered in her life, and as such, I was inspired.
I loved that Ilana brought elements of Psychology into the mix. After finishing my Psychology BSc in 2017, I continue to enjoy reading about the subject I have been so passionate about for many years. Ilana incorporates mindfulness, which is something I try to practice whenever I can.
If I had this book in physical format, I have no doubt that I would have tabbed the parts that resonated with me most strongly, so that I could refer back to these when I need a change of perspective. Therefore, if you do check out this book, my advice would be to purchase it in paperback – available as of yesterday (happy publication day for yesterday @ilana_estelle_author )
One thing I would have loved to see more of would have been more context from Ilana’s life. However, I’m sure this just means I need to check out her other novel, A Cerebral Palsy Story, which I know was loved by many, including the lovely @whatslottiereading
alice.in.story.land
What an eye opening book!
As someone who is already very spiritual this book really spoke to me from the very first page.
I won’t lie I have been having a really tough time recently and my spiritual journey has taken a massive back seat and after reading this I have realised that was the wrong thing for me to do.
This book teaches us how to live a spiritual life and how it can be used to help not only you but others too.
It tells you about selflessness and humility, karma (the real meaning), why integrity is so important.
This is by no means a religious book and it is not pushy in any way. If you are unsure if you are spiritual this is definitely the book for you to help you with your journey.
Thank you to @instabooktours for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review. I will definitely be recommending this to my circle (spiritual group)
If you’re interested, I would be grateful for the support. If you fancy grabbing your copy so charities may benefit, please go to the following link https://linktr.ee/Ilana_Estelle

Lia Park and the Missing Jewel Tour Stop
Tumblr media
Good afternoon my lovelies! I hope you've all been doing well. It's been a hot minute since I've participated in a blog tour, but I'm so excited to be talking about this next title. It's no secret that I was a former Children's Librarian ( I have since moved on to the local public school as a college advisor), and I love to find new middle grade titles for every kid. Not only is this a perfect selection for Asian American and Pacific Islander month (and every other month of the year), but it just so happens to release tomorrow!! Make sure you add it to your TBR!
Book Title: Lia Park and the Missing Jewel
Author: Jenna Yoon
Publisher: Aladdin Books
Release Date: May 3, 2022
Genres: Middle Grade, Fantasy
Goodreads link: https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/59365270-lia-park-and-the-missing-jewel
Book Purchase link: https://www.goodreads.com/buy_buttons/12/follow?book_id=59365270&page_type=book&page_type_id=59365270&ref=x_gr_w_bb_glide_sout&sub_page_type=show&tag=x_gr_w_bb_glide_sout-20
Book Description: (From Goodreads)
This middle grade fantasy follows a young girl who must venture to the undersea kingdom of the Dragon King in Korea to save her parents from an evil diviner spirit. Twelve-year old Lia Park just wants to fit in. Her parents work with a mysterious organization that makes them ridiculously overprotective. Lia’s every move has been scrutinized since she was born, and she’d love to have the option of doing something exciting for once. So when she gets invited to the biggest birthday party of the year—and her parents say she can’t go—Lia sneaks out. But her first act of rebellion not only breaks her parents’ rules, but also an ancient protection spell, allowing an evil diviner spirit to kidnap and ransom her parents for a powerful jewel that her family has guarded for years. With just the clothes on her back and some very rusty magical skills, Lia finds herself chasing mysterious clues that take her to her grandmother’s home in Korea. From there, she has to make their way to the undersea kingdom of the Dragon King, the only person who knows where the powerful jewel might be. Along with her friend, Joon, Lia must dig deep and find courage to stand up for those who are weak—and become the hero her parents need.
Review:
If you're looking for a book that seamlessly combines fantasy and contemporary elements into a unique and engaging storyline, then you're going to want to read this book. Lia Park is such a fantastic young heroine. She's determined to save the world, yet realistic of what that might mean. Moreover, she's also a young woman who's a bit of a rebel, so she might not always do as she's told (I mean, when does any kid ever do EXACTLY as their parents have told them?).
The incredible world-building just adds to this fun story. It's chockfull of action and just gives off a cinematic vibe from start to finish. I loved how fun this story was, and how excited I got as I read through. You also get insight into Korean culture, which I appreciated greatly. Overall, it's a well rounded story that deserves a place on all shelves.
Author Bio:
Jenna Yoon studied Art History at Wellesley College and received her master’s degree in Korean art history from Ewha Womans University. She’s lived about half her life in both Korea and the United States. When she’s not writing, Jenna loves to travel, find yummy eats, play board games, and take skin care very seriously. Currently, she lives in Austin, Texas, with her husband and two kids.
