I watched James Somerton's final video, and all I got was this 6 page document
As soon as I learned his final unreleased video was on Revolutionary Girl Utena, I knew I had to hate watch it. I didn't know that I'd spend the following 4 hours making a comprehensive doc on everything I hated about it. But here we are.
The TLDR (is this too long to be a TLDR?)
The intro section, as well as Part 2, are directly plagiarized from wikipedia. The rest is unclear.
He makes a “haha this show is so weird right guys” joke 10 different times
He reads Anthy as so emotionally stunted she literally has to be taught how to think for herself, and believes that being the rose bride makes her feel good
He says that his reading is ‘vastly different” from the rest of the community, before boldly stating that this is because he sees it as a “deeply allegorical and symbolic story”
He sees the sexual abuse as “not to be taken literally”
Insists that the show be separated into parts that are strictly literal and strictly allegorical for the entirety of parts 3 and 4, before making the contradictory move of analyzing characters as allegories during part 5
The only characters that get dedicated sections are Akio and Dios, who he doesn’t believe are the same person. 
He says Dios gets his powers by “deflowering women”
He calls Akio, known child predator, a chaotic bisexual
Uses 14 year old SA survivor Anthy’s passive personality to make a joke about her being a bottom
His final point is that Utena was the real prince all along

Anyway, full version for people who hate themselves under the cut. With time codes, because I cite my sources.
Part 1: Intro
This entire section is almost exclusively quoted from the Wikipedia article for Revolutionary Girl Utena. Words have been changed, but the order at which certain topics come up is not. Highlights include:
0:56 In his introduction of Be-Papas, lists the founding members in literally the exact same order as Wikipedia.
1:40-2:00 His list of Be-Papas previous works is lifted entirely from wikipedia, only with the words changed. This leads to a strange moment at 1:52 where he claims Be-papas ‘lent their talents to’ Neon Genesis Evangelion, a show which started production at least a year before Be-papas was founded. On the wikipedia article for Utena, this is instead referring to the previous work of Shinya Hasegawa and Yōji Enokido
4:23 he uses a quote by Yūichirō Oguro describing the production as a “tug of war”. He seems to have lifted this in its entirety from Wikipedia, as he does not cite the actual source it is from (the box set companion book, btw)
As for James Somerton originals, at 0:44 he claims that out of all magical girl series,”none to my knowledge have been more discussed and dissected than the 1997 series Revolutionary Girl Utena” He will go back on this at 5:05, where he states that “Sailor Moon takes the lion’s share of discussion” in regard to influential magical girl anime
Part 2: Part 1
(At least I know I’m not funny, unlike James Somerton)
Speaking of which. Here is every single time he makes a “wow this show is sooooo weird you guys” joke: 6:00, 8:50, 10:40, 10:58, 13:46, 17:07, 24:16, 30:34, 41:19, 48:01
Here’s every time the punchline to the joke is the existence of Nanami, a character who he otherwise completely disregards: 10:56, 12:05, 16:22, 42:40
6:16 Claims that the “Apocalypse saga” and “Akio Ohtori saga’ are two names for the same several episodes, depending on the release. This is untrue. Instead, different releases either only have the Apocalypse saga, or split the episodes into an Akio Ohtori saga and then the Apocalypse saga. 
7:58 Claims Utena intervening on Anthy’s behalf begins the first duel. While this happens in the movie, Touga intervenes in the scene he uses clips from (like literally right after the shot he uses in the video). Utena only gets drawn into the duels when Wakaba’s love note to Saionji is posted. Youtuber Noralities’ Utena video also gets this wrong, which makes me wonder if this was copied.
9:09 Claims Akio’s “End of the World” moniker is actually more closely translated to “Apocalypse”. In reality, the translation moves away from a more apocalyptic reading, with 世界の果て (Sekai no hate) apparently translating closer to “the furthest reach of a known world” or “edge of the world”. (Love the implications of this translation, but I digress)
9:10 As can be assumed from the previous point, this means I can’t find any sources that point to them not using the title “apocalypse” for religious reasons
10:10 Uses Anthy’s extreme passivity under her Rose bride persona to make a top/bottom joke. I’m gonna repeat this in case you’re just skimming. He uses a trait that likely stems from years of abuse, (possibly exaggerated by the persona Anthy uses to manipulate people), and uses it to call her a bottom. 
He also just doesn’t seem to understand how the whole point of Utena constantly telling Anthy that she's just a normal girl who should make more friends is framed as Utena imposing her will on Anthy, just as much as the previous Engaged have done. 
11:54 Apologies in advance for my most “um, actually!” point yet, but technically his statement that Anthy stops being host to the Sword of Dios is wrong. Akio literally pulls a sword out of her chest in the final duel. It's a more evil-looking sword of Dios, granted.
13:02 !!! CANTARELLA SCENE ALERT !!! He interprets it as them fighting over Akio?? Which like. I will allow people to have their own interpretations of vague and symbolic scenes. I will. I swear. This is not technically incorrect. It just makes me want to eat my own intestines.
14:44 Bad Anthy take #1: He states Anthy “is emotionally stunted to the point where she needs people to make decisions for her because she does not know how to think for herself” This ignores several moments of Anthy clearly making her own choices throughout the show, including the suicide attempt Somerton mentions about a minute prior. This also strips Anthy of what little agency she has throughout the story, usually exerted through messing with Utena or Nanami. (The fact that she repeatedly makes choices that contribute to her own abuse is, in my opinion, one of the most interesting parts of her character, and it's a shame that Summerton’s ‘reading’ of the story completely disregards that)
Additionally, he once again reads Utena ‘urging Anthy to think for herself” in the first arc as an unambiguously good move, and not as something critiqued in the show.
14:52 Summerton reads the Swords of hatred as symbolizing men’s hatred specifically. Again, I’m trying not to completely disregard differing interpretations to a show like Utena, but this feels very simplistic, especially considering the harm we see aimed towards Anthy by other women
16:42 Here he claims that his reading of the story seems to be “vastly different” from the bulk of Utena discourse. What is this reading? That the show shouldn’t be read literally. Or, in his words, “[we can interpret] Revolutionary Girl Utena as a deeply allegorical and symbolic story about the struggles of coming of age amidst widespread institutional corruption in a high school and which describes a passive culture of inaction in regard to brazen instances of domestic exploitation in which there is not only a question about the caporeality of the events transpiring but also which events can be taken for granted and which events are meant to signify abstract sociological institutions.” The idea that he believes this is in any way a new reading of the material honestly baffles me.
Part 3: Part 2
17:48 through 18:50 differently quotes the Wikipedia article for postmodernism. He even makes a joke at 17:55 about Wikipedia. Please kill me. 
The first three themes he lists at 19:11 are just the three main themes listed on the Revolutionary Girl Utena Wikipedia page. What was that about a “vastly different” reading, James?
You’re gonna have to take my word for it, but this section is so short because it's just him talking about the various ways the story can’t be taken literally. He does, ironically, call this a hot take.
Part 4: Part 3
Here’s where the reading falls apart folks
At 23:15, he states that some things in Utena are allegorically coded, while others are to be taken literally. This is true. However, he seems to take this to mean that some parts of the show are Strictly Literal, while others are Strictly Allegorical for things going on in the Literal World. 
This is apparently why he prefers the Anime to the Movie, where there basically is no separation between the Literal and Allegorical
This take is bizarre to me for several reasons, but here is my favorite. At several points, he mentions how Revolutionary Girl Utena is a work of Magical Realism. Magical Realism is literally defined by its blending of the “literal” and “allegorical”, the mix of fantastical elements in a mundane, realistic setting. This idea of the impossibility of a blurred line, that Utena must either have lore where the magic is all real and means nothing, or dedicated allegory segments quarantined from the rest of the story, is contrary to the very idea of Magical Realism.
I can’t help but wonder if Somerton took his mentions of Magical realism from a previous work, due to how little it is consistent with his final argument. Either way, this section suggests a great lack of creativity in his analysis, a shame for such a creative work.
24:36: Shiori slander, for those who care
After this he gets really worked up about people assuming symbolism in everything, even when the author ‘doesn’t make it clear something is symbolic’. He shuts down a reading of a shot in the Lord of the Rings. Miley Cyrus is there? Very The Curtains Were Blue of him. 
28:22 Claims that Wakaba is the key to telling where the Strictly Literal segments end and the Strictly Allegorical segments begin. He states that, under this lens, deeply personal moments of character suffering such as all of the sexual abuse and Anthy’s suicide attempt (which he literally cites) should be read as symbolic and be “approached with uncertainty rather than confusion”. (28:24-29:13)
This also somewhat falls apart when you consider Wakaba is the jeep in the movie's car chase
And then he rants about people not liking his Attack on Titan video for a bit. Since its potential symbolism also doesn't follow hard enough rules to be symbolism. Once again, the separation of “fact vs allegory” I haven’t watched AOT, so that's all I’ll say.
Part 5: Part 4
Thank god this part is short. Much like Dios’ on-screen presence.
32:55 Makes the extremely bold claim that Dios is not Akio. As in, never even became Akio. because Dios is Strictly Allegorical.
Just to be a pedant, this is pretty explicitly disproven in the show

Confusingly, both earlier and later he will address these two as the same character. 
33:04 he also explains the root of Akio’s name in a tone that suggests this is supplemental information and not like. Literally something he explains out loud in the show?
Part 6: Part 5
This section is nearly entirely about Akio Ohtori. I would like to note that him and Dios are the only characters with dedicated segments.
38:30 The part where he states that Dios gets his powers from deflowering women.
38:46 Claims, once again, that Akio’s abuse of Anthy “may not be literal”. 
38:59 “the instance of exploitation here is used because assault has deep roots as indicating that akio's gender is the source of his imbalance”  THE ASSAULT IS ABOUT AKIO NOW???
39:45 Bad Anthy take #2: “Anthy’s conformity to the Rose bride is based around the fact that she feels good being subservient because this is the only thing in her life that has ever brought her any kind of positive reward”. This is a direct quote. Anyway, I can’t think of any instances in the show where Anthy’s subservience gives her a positive reward, except maybe when she’s intentionally using it to manipulate others. As for her feeling good being the rose bride. She tries to commit suicide. Dude.
Side tangent, but isn’t this exactly what Akio says during the final 2 episodes? That Anthy enjoys being a witch? Is the main villain, who consistently says things during that very episode that are blatantly false, our source of information for this take? I guess so, since this is the dedicated Akio section.
At 40:20 he decides to introduce the concept of Anthy, Akio, and Utena as stand-ins for wider concepts, which is antithetical to his approach in analysis beforehand
Part 7: Part 6
42:40 he finally acknowledges that he’s been spending too much time talking about Akio, and literally no time on characters like Nanami
46:10 states that Utena’s exclusive motivation “is to protect Anthy from the predatorial intentions of the other dualists”, which disregards the fact, which she states herself, that she was largely participating in the duels and protecting Anthy to feel like a prince
48:04 The part where he says that Akio has ‘chaotic Bi vibes’ in regards to him sleeping with Touga, who is 17 and implied to be a long-term victim
Part 8: Part 7
54:01: His concluding point is that Utena was the real prince all along. 
In true Somerton fashion, the video then ends over a scrolling wall of patrons, with not a single citation in sight.

author’s note: if you’d told me a month or so ago that i’d write an almost 5,000 word smutfic featuring scaramouche, i would’ve laughed in your face... but here we are! i dedicate this fic to one of my most beloved and beautiful besties, @gixxie, because she’s absolutely amazing and is the #1 scaramouche simp!!! i really hope that i did him justice, and i hope y’all enjoy – this is only my second ever smutfic that i’ve written and/or posted online! The smell of incense and the crackling of the fire in the large marble fireplace greet you as you step inside the mansion in the adepti teapot realm you call home, shutting the doors as quietly as possible behind you and releasing a soft sigh of relief when there is no noise to imply you’ve been heard.
Slowly, you make your way across the main area of the house to the room that was designated as the library and office, slipping inside silently and quickly sliding the doors shut behind you.
Inhaling deeply, you march over to the desk to begin sorting through the large pile of letters that had accumulated during your absence.
You’ve been traveling with Paimon, helping the Aranara in Sumeru and avoiding… well, avoiding multiple things. Searching for your brother, your various promises and responsibilities, and most importantly a certain short-tempered Anemo wielder.
Coming out of the haze of your thoughts, you notice the messy stack of books that had undoubtedly been made by some of your numerous guests and you huff as you grab them and go to put them away.
It wasn’t that Scaramouche had done anything wrong per se, it was more the issue of you being so naturally affectionate and showing it via physical touch and honest words… and worrying that it was becoming too much for him, or too annoying. Or both.
It hasn’t been that long since he’s joined your group of friends… only about two months, though could you honestly say that the two of you were friends?
He was so hot and cold, at times he was standoffish and rude, snapping at everyone and everything and it was during those times that you swore he hated you… but then the next time you’d come across him or have him join you while adventuring, he’d look at you with an unreadable expression and allow you to touch him without bristling, especially when you two were alone, and the back and forth of it confused you.
You’ve been oddly drawn to him ever since you had first met him in Inazuma, his voice sticking in your head and repeating his taunting words and the vision of him sauntering towards you with that insufferable smirk wouldn’t leave your mind…
In truth, your feelings have only gotten stronger as time had passed, especially after he’d reluctantly joined your adventuring team and you’d inevitably gotten to know him better.
If you are being honest, the sexual tension between you two could likely be cut with a knife and served on a platter… in addition to there being purer, deeper romantic feelings present.
It’s far too early to call it “love”, but it is certainly well on its way to becoming that dreaded word… on your end, at least.
You can feel your face heat up in response to the direction your thoughts have gone and as you shove the last book onto the bookshelf you lean forward and bonk your forehead against the hardwood in an effort to clear your mind.
In your distraction you haven’t noticed that the subject of your thoughts has snuck into the room and is moving towards you with purpose.
A pale hand suddenly slams down to grasp onto the shelf right behind you, the other hand gripping your waist and spinning you to face the intruder.
Purple eyes meet yours, anger making them almost burn from their intensity as he leans in so his face is mere inches away from yours.
Gasping, you shrank back against the bookshelf. “Scaramouche? What–?”
“You’ve been avoiding me. Why?” He bites out, eyes narrowing slightly and the fingers at your waist twitching in what you assumed to be frustration.
Blinking at him while you try to gather your thoughts, you can’t help but notice that he isn’t wearing his usual amount of layers – just the tight black high-collared shirt and his shorts and sandals rather than his familiar complex ensemble – and your face heats at the realization that so much of his skin was now visible to you.
Swallowing to try and moisten your suddenly dry mouth, you’re sure that your face openly shows how flustered you are.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, I’ve been busy but I haven’t been–”
“Cut the bullshit. Do you think I’m an idiot? It’s not like you’ve been subtle about it, and it’s pissing me off,” he scoffs, rolling his eyes as he moves the hand that has been pinning you to the bookshelf to grasp the back of your neck, his thumb brushing against the sensitive skin of your nape.
Eyes widening at his actions and words, you clear your throat and square your shoulders.
“I’m sorry that you feel that way, Scaramouche, but–”
“Why are you calling me that?” He snaps, scowling at you with narrowed eyes.
“Calling you what? Your name?” You reply, eyes darting away from his prying gaze.
It was true that you haven’t necessarily been subtle, but you had assumed that he wouldn’t take much notice of the lack of attention and affection that he seemed to find barely tolerable – this vehement reaction was very unexpected and it was leaving you reeling.
He lets out an angry sigh before his fingers grasp your chin and force you to meet his eyes.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?” He demands, eyes flickering over your face as his lips turn down into a slight pout.
Glancing down at his mouth, you unconsciously wet your lips and his gaze immediately hones in on it.
Gasping softly, your mouth gapes a bit in surprise as you observe how his burning purple eyes darken as he focuses on your mouth, leaning ever so slightly closer and tilting his head as if entranced.
“Scaram–mmph!”
Lips pressing to yours cut you off, a low groan escaping him when you immediately reciprocate.
Eyes fluttering shut as you breathe him in, you bring your hands up to scratch your fingers through the coarse hair of his undercut.
Scaramouche growls then, shoving you up against the bookshelf as he presses as much of his body as he can to your own, the hand on your waist now groping at your soft skin.
Whimpering, your eyes shoot open and you tear your mouth from his to gasp for air as he starts roughly kissing down your jaw.
“Don’t lie, you were avoiding me. Because of this?” He whispers, lips and warm breath brushing the shell of your ear.
Exhaling with a whine, you nod before his lips press to your own again for a brief moment before he pulls away, nipping at your bottom lip.
He smirks at your dumb expression, tugging you over to the table in the middle of the room and reminding you that he was much stronger than he looked by easily lifting you up to sit on the edge, pushing the letters off and out of the way.

He huffs and rolls his eyes, pulling away to grasp your arm and drag you out of the room.
“Wait, what–?” You stammer, following him gracelessly.
“It seems that I still have to teach you some fucking manners, slut.”
Glancing back at you as he leads you through the door, the look in his eyes and his smirk makes your face heat.

I want to preface this by saying I have a really good pattern recognition and took a film class before .
I NEVER WANTED TO LEARN THIS INFORMATION OR HAVE THIS THEORY!!
Anyways, because people are confused about the theory of Gabriel somehow having the second coming of Christ (and also why I think some of the book of Revelation will be included in Good Omens 3), I thought I’d put my evidence here.
Once again I’d like to formally apologize and this is your last warning.
You will lose all sanity past this point just like i did.
(TLDR; only read what’s in bold and look at the pictures)
When it comes to why I think season 3 might be based off of Revelation slightly, there isn’t that much evidence. (Unfortunately there is more evidence for the other part.)
First of all we have Metatron mentioning the second coming of Christ before they get on the elevator. Now for those of you who don’t know the second Coming of Christ is part of Revelation! (Also, Metatron did not bother to try and stop Gabriel from leaving… which I find suspicious…)

Where “Christ 2.0” is mentioned in Revelation? Well the Revelation is not straight forward. Some think of the Second Coming of Christ as whom was mentioned in Revelation 14:14-16 (in this chapter he comes down from the heavens and chops off heads) and some think of The Second Coming of Christ as who was mentioned in Revelation 19:11-16 (in this chapter he comes down from the heavens and helps put two of the false prophets in hellfire). For Chapter 14, they call the being “the son of man”, which is the same title people use for Jesus. For chapter 19, there is “King of Kings, Lord of Lords” tattooed on his thigh, which is what some people call God.
Luckily, considering the main point of Good Omens is to show that love and life matters most, I don’t think they will do exactly what those chapters say.

Now on to the Unfortunate truth. Proof/foreshadowing that Gabriel will have the Second Coming of Christ. (Again I want to formerly apologize to both the fandom and Neil Gaiman.)
So what started this is Chapter 12 of Revelation. In chapter 12 someone is pregnant in the sky/heavens/space and gives birth to a special child. Before that child is eaten by a monster, an Angel comes in and takes the Baby away and brings the baby to God. This is why I think this is the same being as the second coming mentioned before. He was taken care of by God and raised in Heaven.
But he was also born in space…
And unfortunately for us ineffable bureaucracy is in space. And although they aren’t human, there are actually a lot of references throughout Good Omens 1 and 2 that associate Gabriel with birth and sex.
But before i get into that, I want to preface all this. I know this might upset some of you all because you might also have had the head cannon of them being asexual. To that I say, don’t worry I don’t think anything sexual will actually happen. They are kind of dumb (when it comes to human affairs) supernatural beings whom can perform miracles. A lot of this is just dramatic irony used to make us laugh and to possibly hint at the future.
So here is all the evidence of Gabriel having a kid so far (I will edit it if more comes up):
1) When he says he was there for the creation/birth of Eve in the garden. Why in the world would that be an important thing to mention? For what reason did God want him there? Why did God want him to see how to make a human?
2) The fact he is the same Angel who delivered the message to Mary that she was pregnant with Jesus. You can see this in Luke 1:26. While, this is not mentioning Good Omens I feel it is important to point out. Also, I think it would be funny if Mary was able to pull an Uno reverse card (and a +2 card because it would be the 2nd coming) and tell GABRIEL that he was gonna have the child.
Not to mention there are even more similarities between the two of them (which I mention later.) I think it shows them as having something more in common rather than just being in eachother a story…
3) The fact he was also there for the “birth” of 3 of Lot’s kids. Yet another moment of human creation that God insisted he’d be a part of.
6) The tomatoes falling in front of him as he walked to Aziraphale’s Bookshop (they did a close up which usually is a “pay attention” sign) because apparently tomatoes are a sign of fertility. (Also if you look at the extended edition of Gabriel’s arrival you will see that the tomato pile seeming bubbled up like it was multiply as he walked by.)

Not only that, but some studies show that tomatoes can cure infertility. And considering we know that angels do not at first have any reproductive organs, I think it’s safe to say that this symbolism could show how he is no longer infertile. 7) Everyone assumed he was a stripper that Aziraphale hired. Nina thought it was Aziraphale’s ”naked man friend” he hired. And the people around him even took pictures of him nude. They didn’t even bother to call the police they were in such awe.

The fact that they didn’t call the police or weren’t really disgusted (but rather many were quite turned on if you look at the symbolism) is very interesting to me. It reminds me of the story of Lot in the Bible. Two Angels visit Lot (in sodom and Gomorrah) and a huge crowd of people forms outside his house. The angels were so charismatic and hot that everybody wanted to do them, and that is why they were crowding around Lot’s house. I wish I was joking, but I’m not!
8) All the people that flirted with him at the ball to which he said something along the lines of “I learned something new about this body last night in bed” and also “want me to show you?”

As my friend on tiktok (cloverthegrand) said “something something Gabriel was [probably] purposefully made to be very attractive to attract a partner to fulfill the second coming requirements.”
9) He likes hot cocoa and chocolate is sort of an aphrodisiac, which is something that supposedly “turns you on”. And yes, chocolate is still a symbol of love even without it’s aphrodisiac qualities.

10) When they have sushi (fish), Gabriel is always(?) there. When they are in he restaurant in season 1 and at the Ball in season 2. Fish is a sign of fertility in a couple cultures like in judaism, some Native American tribes, and Celtic culture.

11) This is quite controversial, but the fact that Gabriel planned basically to show up to beelzebub completely naked is quite… odd. He probably doesn’t understand the complexities of this and what it means (or would mean to humans), yet it is still an odd flag that I feel could show us a hint. And once again, I would like to remind you all that this is not me saying that they aren’t asexual. I still firmly believe that they are both aroace spec because they are/were Angels!
12) The “I’m in the fly” on the bottom of the box that Gabriel brought is also quite funny to me. Gabriel and Beelzebub sure did not get the joke, but I know some of the audience (including me) had one Hell of a time laughing at that dramatic irony/pun! And once again it is another this that associates Gabriel with the creation of kids.
13) “Everyday” being beelzebub and Gabriels song -despite also being described by Terry and Neil as an apocalyptic song- is also interesting to me. I feel it could show that somehow their love and their romance is the start of this second apocalypse or maybe even the center of it. It’s slightly scary to me that Neil didn’t wait to use Everyday for season three, yet instead started using it here for a romance.
14) All the good luck symbolism for Gabriel.  Gabriel got really lucky the season. Whether with a Aziraphale and Crowley and his memory or how everything around him went. It was as if it was perfectly planned. And it was! There were a lot of symbols for good luck, always surrounding Gabriel to make sure no harm came his way (such as the Garlic, onions, cabbage, and plum tree at Gabriel’s arrival. Also the color blue, hearts, and lions.) I feel this shows just how important and essential Gabriel is to SOMETHING. Something probably bigger than he knows.
Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure I remember Neil Gaiman once saying on Tumblr that he made Gabriel more of a character in season one of good omens because he was important to the next part of the story. This season definitely showed us just how important Gabriel really is (to my unfortunate mental decline.)
15) Cows. This one isn’t that big considering it is just two framed images of cows in the background while Beelzebub and Gabriel order at the bar, but I included it anyways. Cows represent fertility and strength (yippee 😐)

16) Gabriel is wearing the same blue at the Ball as Sitis(kind of) and as The Virgin Mary! They all have big blue thingy. This shows they are similar… somehow (*cough* miraculous births/“births” *cough*)

Bonus: The Proof is in the Pudding!… or at least the side dish. Here is some evidence from the extended editions/cut scenes:
A) In the extended edition of Gabriel’s arrival:
Aa) Lemon symbolism. In the extended edition, you can see an old man holding a lemon, while standing in front of a pile of tomatoes on the table. The pile of tomatoes then later, bubbles up, as if multiplying, and falls down on the floor, overtaking him and his lemon.  lemons can symbolize loyalty to one other person in a sexual or romantic relationship and they were also used as a form of birth control, but consider the tomatoes -what fixes infertility- went past that man I think it’s safe to say that is no longer a thing.
Ab) Flowers. Honestly this is not that important because flowers have many different meanings (I mainly did this for fun; not all of the flowers support this theory). But mainly people use flowers to give to someone they love. Also, flowers in General (specifically Lilies and Roses) are commonly associated with the Virgin Mary. Let me quickly go over the flowers/plants in this shot that I could identify.

Black eyed Susans - encouragement, motivation, endurance, and justice
White Roses - purity, youthfulness, innocence, eternal loyalty, and new beginnings
Yellow Roses - friendship and joy
Pink Roses - elegance, refinement, sweetness, and femininity
Green Roses or Green Chrysanthemum? (I can’t tell which it is from a distance) - chrysanthemum-good fortune, rebirth, renew, and good health. Rose-renewal, fertility, growth, abundance, and rejuvenation
Eucalyptus - strength, protection, abundance, and the division between Heaven and Earth
Wreaths - not a flower I know, but they do symbolize some important things. Fertility, life after death, life, and Jesus dying and coming back

Ac) THE HOSE POORING WATER INTO THE PURSE! OH MY GOSH DID THIS SHOT SURPRISE ME IN THE EXTENDED EDITION! Also they even did a close up of it so you know it’s important! This is on the nose fornication. The hose representing a pp, the purse representing somethings that “purrs”, and the water representing… human male milk. The hose fills up the purse and makes it wet in these shots.

This could just be them showing more of how everyone is thirsting after Gabriel, but than again… why specifically Gabriel? And why something so specifically representing conception?
B) In the cut scene at The Ball
Ba) The nut allergy. In one of the cut scenes Justine has a nut allergy and asks Gabriel if any of the appetizers have nuts in them. I love to interpret this as them saying they are a lesbian because of their emphasis on all nuts. I especially love this because (assumingly) the people before them were flirting with him and they weren’t (probably because he looks like a male human.)
Bb) The fact Gabriel has no idea what nuts are and asks what they taste like. It seems very innocent in the scene, but if I saw that scene back to back of the “I learned something new in bed last night” I would definitely assume that was on purpose for many reasons. And considering all the other times Gabriel is associated with sex, I think I am gonna interpret it this way. He is a very innocent Angel though (literally).
[EDITS: The bit on the side (more evidence that I unfortunately can’t add imagery for because I’ve reached my limit on this Tumblr post):
-the pornography bit in s1
-the fact Gabriel is sort of fixated on having a nice body (exercising, looking at the statue of himself)
-the way his statue holds a cross the similar to how The Virgin Mary holds a cross in images (at least at times where she is holding one)
-The fact that there is also a lot of imagery of the Virgin Mary putting her hands cross over her chest, which is similar to how Gabriel does when Aziraphale and Crowley ask to hold his hands in s2
-him “being a Virgin” being the butt of a lot of the sexual jokes. I put being a virgin in quotes because I actually have a very depressing theory about this. He most definitely did not just miracle genitals right before seeing Beelzebub, otherwise the Angels would’ve gotten a notification as he was leaving that he did that considering they were looking at his file. That means he’s had that for a while. We know he has something down there because of the crowds reaction to him being naked after he puts down the box. 
-Neil said “we will never know” when asked if Gabriel made “the effort” down there… this isn’t evidence I just find this hilarious (Link https://www.tumblr.com/neil-gaiman/725238480054239232/hey-neil-i-dont-know-if-this-question-has )

Do I think all of this evidence means Gabriel will give BIRTH? Not exactly, I mean he could just miracle a child by pulling of one of his ribs and gathering Star dust around it to shape the body. However, I do think there is a high possibility that Gabriel will somehow raise or make The Second coming of Christ (or just any child) in Good Omens 3.
And on the contrary, to all of what I said, some of the other angels and demons could also be associated with fertility (ex: stars, sand and fish as symbolism for fertility. Aziraphale has scenes with stars, sand and fish). However, in my opinion, it is not to the degree that Gabriel is associated with things like sex, birth and the Virgin Mary. He is CONSTANTLY being associated with it (even if it’s not on purpose) throughout the series. They could just be making sex jokes with Gabriel because it’s funny (and because it’s John Hamm who is/was apparently a sex symbol), but we’ll never know until season 3 I guess!
I doubt this all will help in my plea to be not weird on tumblr, considering I shared the evidence now, but it’s better than sounding like somebody who just said “archangel Gabriel mpreg” just for the fuck all.

Put Genesis and Zack in a room for 24 hours, who drives the other insane first? Genesis gets his book and Zack gets a random noise-making object of his choice
Hour 1: Friendship! They're both talkative so this is going to be soooo easy.
Hour 2: Friendship but every time Zack compulsively shakes his toy rattle Genesis's eye twitches.
Hour 3: Silence for the first 25 minutes and then Genesis starts quoting LOVELESS.
Hour 4: Zack has started shaking his rattle alongside Genesis's poetry. This causes Genesis to speak louder and Zack to shake his rattle faster.
Hour 5: Screaming.
Hour 6: Silence.
Hour 7: "....You know I always thought you were a cooler than Sephiroth" -> "Really? I always disliked you for taking Angeal away from me."
Hour 8: Hugging and crying.
Hour 9: Gossip.
Hour 10: Quiet time. Genesis is quietly reading and Zack is gently shaking his rattle.
Hour 11: Genesis's eye is twitching again.
Hour 12: Genesis has broken the rattle and Zack retaliated by ripping up his book and calling Genesis a "psycho ginger bitch"
Hour 13: Fighting (physically).
Hour 14: Angeal and Sephiroth got involved and have dragged the two out of the room.

I am ever so delighted that since I finished the MAIN series I have had 4 people in my DMs wanting to know an official reading order. This is amazing. So for those who might be a little more message shy here is a list for you to take, keep, and read.
You might see this order and think it's weird, trust me it, it is. The reason why it is weird is because 1.) the Zero Hour event in 1994 rebooted the team in the middle of two books, so the creators drafted up a new start with a #0 issue and 2.) LOSH had two books per month.

Hey i read this phrase a lot in many pro Israel blog : Good Jew is the one who support Israel. Can you explain it? Does supporting Israel is one of core tenet or principle in Hebrew Bible?
To avoid oversimplifying would take a whole book, but I’ll try to sum this up as TLDR as possible.

These passages do talk about the land, and they do even say that if Abraham honored his journey and land, God would make him a Nation through his descendants. However, the idea of nation STATES did not exist when it was written. So the interpretation cannot be applied to what the State of Israel is today.
There is no work of any religion that mandates we have to blindly support the modern state of Israel. We must always make the distinction between Biblical Israel and the modern nation state of Israel.

The Second…….Ball?
A bookshop, Eden, and something more?
In part 1 we discussed
the structure of the bookshop being similar to 17th century French gardens, a maybe hidden Tree of life, the idea of timestreams relating to the roads and rivers, and all that to just say the bookshop perhaps all of Wickber Street is their version of Eden
Part 1.5 was just a couple theories that have been floating around my head concerning
the book of life
the rings and a fly
the bookshop
a coffee
honestly I'm probably going to do a little editing. It’s not a necessary reading 
But finally made it to part 2 where I'm going to dive into some out of order events and two different parts of the same story being played out at the same time plus the actual main plot, specifically in the last two episodes - though there is probably more earlier in the season
you can imagine the jumble that has been brain and why it took longer than I wanted to get this out.
Background Info
In part 1 I mentioned that the Tree of Life was mentioned in two particular books in the Bible - Genesis and Revelations. Now we’ve discussed the Genesis part - Eden - and now we are going to talk about Revelations - New Jerusalem
The Book of Revelation is the only apocalyptic book in the New Testament and it's where the Second Coming comes from - written by a John. It was mentioned in season 1 and I’m going to be making a lot of references to it throughout this.
New Jerusalem is the place where all true believers will spend eternity with God and is said to have pretty similar features to Eden - the rivers, the Tree of Life, the wall, and a square shape. Something that this place is also said to have is 12 gates.

Ok but let’s get into the actual point of this I’ve talked enough about set design
Have we already seen a version of the Second Coming? Why yes we have
In episode 5 we are following two different stories cutting back and forth between the two - Aziraphale’s and Shax’s
Now before I get into this I’m just going to say that I know Good Omens is a parody to actual Biblical events and who knows what is actually going to happen in season 3 besides the man himself. We do know that this season was setting up for the next and that parallel scenes are a favorite. So these are just some parallels I noticed if you place some characters into the roles of others and it could very well turn out to be wrong
Shax’s Siege

The thing about Shax’s character is that she is always looking for opportunities to get ahead and make connections that could benefit her later. We see it in 1941 and between then and now she has worked her way up from desk duty to Hell’s rep on earth.
And when she finally gets permission to attack the bookshop she actually takes up another role. Or shall I say multiple.
It is very obvious that once Shax gets to Earth she is out of her league - bitten off more than she can chew so to say - and yet she still wants more and is very good at manipulating beings to get there.
So she wants to storm the bookshop with legions of demons but only gets about 70. The thing that is interesting about there approach is you have demons coming from all four roads and she arrives last. And this is where we jump into Revelations.
In chapter 13 it talks of two beast - one from the sea and one from the land. The beast from the sea is said to have 7 heads, 10 crowns on the horns, is like a leopard with feet of a bear and the mouth of a lion, and one of its heads is said to have a mortal wound that is healed. This description has been likened to the four beast in the Book of Danial chapter 7 which were symbols of the four kingdoms - Babylon, Medes-Persia, Greece, and Rome. Some say this beast is the Antichrist as it is empowered by Satan to persecute Christians, blasphemy against God, and cult-like worship.
But all that to say I think that the arrival of the demons from all four sides was meant to kind of represent this. With the four beast representing the four kingdoms arriving on our four rivers roads. It’s not a perfect parallel but it is not meant to be - it’s meant to be a shitty rendition of what is basically Armageddon.
Now the second beast is mainly referred to as the false prophet. The only description is that it comes from the ground, two horns like a lamb but having the voice of a dragon. It has all the authority of the first beast and makes the inhabitants of earth worship the first beast, it breathes life into the first beast. It performs great signs like making fire come down from the Heavens to the Earth and causes all to be marked with the mark of the beast. Some call this beast the antichrist because it is performing miracles similar to that of Jesus.
This is the role I think Shax is trying to play - somewhat successfully. She arrives coming up out of the lift and through actions we see later kinda fulfill some of the rest of these points.
She also kind of jumps back and forth between these two beast with her authority - almost like she is not actually meant to be here, that they are all out of order. Mainly trying to be in the Antichrist position.
Shax is working the best with what she got.
But let’s switch over to our other story before we get to the confrontation
Aziraphale’s Ball

In his part of the episode we have been following him around as he invites people to this “meeting”. Crowley is also there for a little bit until he is brought back to reality so to say by Nina and eventually goes to confront Gabriel.
But back to Aziraphale who is going shop to shop in alphabetical order as is on the list on his clipboard. And this is where we start to get some Revelation parallels.
Whereas the Shax parallels started in chapter 13 Aziraphale joins in at the end of chapter 20 with the mention of the Book of Life - or in other words the list of names that are let into this New Jerusalem, that were God’s people.
Aziraphale having a list of people that he is inviting into his bookshop, a notorious place where he doesn’t want humans I feel is pretty significant. But all doesn’t go smoothly and he has to convince some people to come - I could go into each person he talks too but mainly he is using books and christmas lights to convince the people who don’t want to come. But what could those represent?
Books - eternal life for authors
Christmas Lights - the light that Jesus brought back into a world of darkness
Giving out the books/fruit of the Tree of Life so people will come to the ball/paradise hmm Aziraphale?
Interesting that we don’t see Mr. Brown’s shop on this list isn’t it? Keep that in mind.
But we continue on to Aziraphale decorating the Bookshop. With two scenes of him doing this one - moving the bookcases, or interior walls, and two - bring the chandelier down
In chapter 21, John is said to have seen New Jerusalem and New Earth descend from the Heavens - noting that there was no temple,
This could be paralleled to the scene where Crowley is looking into the Bookshop watching as Aziraphale has a chandelier descend from the ceiling.
It’s also important to note at this point that Gabriel arriving quite literally upended their lives and inadvertently set off the very same events he didn’t want to happen, The Second Coming. With him acting as a Jesus parallel.
But back to what is happening with Aziraphale. People are starting to arrive!! And he is changing their clothes?
Revelation 22:14 - Blessed are those who wash their robes, so they may have access to the tree of life and they may enter the city by the gates.
Washing their robes is meant to symbolize a full cleansing from sin that they must be free from to enter New Jerusalem
So Aziraphale is changing (washing) their clothes to make them acceptable for the ball (New Jerusalem)
Now you may be wondering how would you even prove that it happened? The seamstress conversation is how.
On one side it probably was how people from the time period Aziraphale is trying to create talked but it’s also removing the nature of the “sin”
Aziraphale does not even know what she technically does and yet it is still changed. When Mrs. Sandwich later tries to say what her job is she can’t actually say it and has to describe it - all using sewing terms. She even calls out at one point that the “devil may take it.”
But why? Aziraphale doesn’t even know and if he did I doubt he was care very much - unless something else was at play here.
Heavens standards - which in this universe includes adultery as bad, as a sin. We see examples with the references to Solomon and Gomorrah and “Thou shall not commit adultery Pulsifer”
The way she describes it as well leans towards this angle as well. With the “in want of the tender attention of a wife”
But back to Jim though who throughout all of this has been our Jesus parallel - he is out mingling with the people for the first time dressed in a wonderful blue suit.
Revelation 22 - The throne of God and the Lamb are in the city, and His people worship Him. There is no night and no need for other sources of light, for the Lord Himself gives the light, and they reign forever.
God and Jesus finally walking among and interacting with their people - and Jim seems to be having a grand ol time

There is also some more references with the Candelabra’s that are around the shop - both the 3 and 7 versions. These guys have a bunch of different meaning but the ones that really stick out is The Holy Trinity and the Seven Angels or the Seven Churches
(I also had this whole bit planned about the temple which is said to be destroyed in the Second Coming of Jesus because it now holds no place in Jerusalem because God and Jesus are now among them and relating it to the Second Temple. I’m a bit iffy about it though just with some of reasoning but that was the basics of it - I might end up coming back to this at some point)
But all this to say that Aziraphale has basically made his version of paradise - unintentionally mirroring what is said to be the real one
The Collide

And our two stories meet….somehow. We left off with Shax in chapter 13 and Aziraphale in chapter 22 so quite a bit has to happen to get them to the same place - and it does a little bit out of order
Things come crashing to a stop quite literally when the demons throw the brick? wall piece? through the window. Shax makes her threats particularly to the humans. Perhaps because they don’t have the Mark of the Beast? Which they would need to buy things and as we know from Jim earlier, they aren’t selling
But the next big event is Jim walking out of the bookshop

and continues Shax’s story into Revelations 14
Revelation 14:14 Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and on the cloud sat One like the Son of Man
but he is also start Aziraphale’s story back up when he goes back into the shop - just going backwards now
Revelation 20:5 The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. This is the first resurrection. How fortunate and holy is the one who has a share in the first resurrection!
Mr. Brown then gets grabbed and thrown out of the shop, remember how his shops name wasn’t on the list? His name is not in the Book of Life therefore he is thrown into a Lake of Fire
Crowley then brings the humans back outside telling them to go back to their shops thus removing them from New Jerusalem and reversing judgement
and then he exits the stage as well and our jumping around really begins with episode 6 - so quick-fire
Shax gains confidence in her attack as soon as she notices Crowley has left and while this is happening Aziraphale put the chandelier back…. from wherever it came from. Effectively undescending New Jerusalem and putting that behind them as they work to meet up to where Shax is at in the story.
Aziraphale starts setting up the portal and tells Shax she is not welcomed here
Revelations 14: 9-11 - Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”
Demons throw trash into the bookshop and Aziraphale runs off to tell Jim to hide leaving Maggie and Nina to deal with Shax
Revelation 14: 17-20 Then another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle. And another angel came out from the altar, who had power over fire, and he cried with a loud cry to him who had the sharp sickle, saying, “Thrust in your sharp sickle and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth, for her grapes are fully ripe.” So the angel thrust his sickle into the earth and gathered the vine of the earth, and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. And the winepress was trampled outside the city, and blood came out of the winepress, up to the horses’ bridles, for one thousand six hundred furlongs.
Maggie is then manipulated by Shax to let the demons in the shop
By this point I think the true role of Shax has come into play and it’s a nod back to Madam Tracy. The role is in Revelation 17 - The Whore of Babylon - the epitome of sin, ruler over 7 kingdoms, quick with her tongue and good with her words, draped in the finest clothes of purple and scarlet 
Demons start to enter the shop and Aziraphale activates the portal - Shax discorporates Eric and we see Jim’s position on the stairs above everyone
Revelation 15 - The Seven Plagues - yes I know they haven’t quite got to anything else besides the portal and even then they don’t use seven different things but this chapter really is just setting up for the next and I wanted to mention one thing before moving into the next
Revelation 15:8 And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from his power, and no one could enter the temple until the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed
the smoke coming from the demons discorporating and the fire extinguishers while Jim is absent
Demons start stepping into the portal - Maggie, Nina, and Aziraphale have to come up with another plan - Demons push book selves over and Maggie and Nina start with the fire extinguishers
They have now gone up the stairs to the second floor of the bookshop for the first floor has been over taken by the demons - Aziraphale charges Shax to leave this place - Shax starts to insult Aziraphale
Revelation 18:2 With a mighty voice he shouted: “ ‘Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great!’She has become a dwelling for demons and a haunt for every impure spirit, a haunt for every unclean bird, a haunt for every unclean and detestable animal.
Jim is sent away after asking if anyone wants hot chocolate
I don’t have anything to compare this to. I just think it’s interesting that Aziraphale(and Maggie and Nina) were offered hot chocolate and declined, especially with all the talks about coffee vs death
Maggie and Nina continue with the fire extinguishers - and then they start with the books - no more fire extinguishers or books and Aziraphale pulls out the old Halo trick
Revelation 16 - Bowls of Wrath - now the chapter with the actual description of the seven bowls. By now we have seen all of the moves Aziraphale, Maggie, and Nina pull but I really wanted to point out the comparison of the last bowl particularly what happened afterwards and the Halo so,
Revelation 16:17-20 The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and out of the temple came a loud voice from the throne, saying, “It is done!” Then there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder and a severe earthquake. No earthquake like it has ever occurred since mankind has been on earth, so tremendous was the quake. The great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed. God remembered Babylon the Great and gave her the cup filled with the wine of the fury of his wrath. Every island fled away and the mountains could not be found.
All demons are discorporated with Shax unconscious on the couch
Revelation 19:2 for true and just are his judgments. He has condemned the great prostitute who corrupted the earth by her adulteries. He has avenged on her the blood of his servants.
Revelation 19:20 And the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who in its presence had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshipped its image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur.
and with that it is over
so yeah that was a lot and it’s not perfect but remember when it was mentioned back in season 1 it was among prophecies that were not entirely accurate and that it was a rushed, only kinda planned attack. So really I just view this as very quick run down version of the Second Coming where there is not enough players
plus you have Crowley’s side to this story which seems to be the reality - dealing with the actual problem that has been going on throughout the season (Gabriel) instead of hosting a Ball or trying to make a power play
but if you made it this far have a little treat in the spirit of the holiday season, or if you don’t celebrate anything than just for getting to the end of this
New Jerusalem was also described as "the bride, the wife of the lamb” - and we all know that Ball was for Aziraphale and Crowley, as much as he may deny it, so really Aziraphale was saying “let’s get married, I’m your wife now”

The tights fit perfectly. The black fabric was opaque; it even covered the bottom of your Lifestream tattoo. You cursed yourself for buying something so incredibly decadent. There was no going back to the drugstore tights after this. These would be perfect, except…
Were you supposed to wear underwear under these? Over them? You felt strangely bare. You stood on your bed and squinted across the room at your bathroom mirror. 
The Shinra-co. Sunrise ™  clock read 6:45 PM. You were going to be late if you kept fussing. No choice: you would have to brave Midgar with nothing under your skirt. Guilt and shame twisted your gut, and you pulled your coat on with a grimace. 
It’s for me, you thought. It’s not for him. 
You stared at your craft bench, at the iron wing you made earlier that week. Deep down, you wanted to seduce him into bed again. You wanted the lightning to strike twice; you wanted to burn. If you dressed yourself in the same way— if you had these stupid, expensive tights underneath your skirt this time— then maybe…
Genesis’s angry face flashed in your mind. You felt that same sick, sinking feeling from the training videos. It was rare to see SOLDIERs with injuries; whatever had hit him had hit hard. Whatever hit him would've surely killed you.
It was windy outside, and below freezing. A breeze teased at the hem of your skirt. You shoved it back down and glanced around. Everyone else waited for taxis or seemed preoccupied with their friends. You turned towards Shinra’s familiar silhouette against the cloudy sky. If you walked fast enough, you’d be right on time. 
A couple, hand-in-hand. meandered down the sidewalk in front of you. You hesitantly inched past them. You pulled your coat tightly around yourself, but this turned you into a wobbling, upright caterpillar. You loosened your grip; the wind threatened your skirt again. Back to the caterpillar. This, of course, made your overnight bag slide dangerously down your arm. The air smelled like frost and mako.
Plink. That was probably Sephiroth, wondering where you were. You swore and picked up your pace. You shouldn’t have fussed so much about the tights.
Maybe you shouldn’t have bought them at all.
You automatically looked up at the next intersection, expecting to see the defaced poster, but it was already gone. A few Shinra workers, bundled and masked against the cold, straightened a pale-blue Potion poster over it instead. A foreman shouted instructions from the sidewalk.
The crosswalk light flashed red. The crowd in front of you lurched to a stop. You dug around in your pocket and woke up your phone, hiding its screen from the people waiting next to you:
>> Double booked. Work again
“Oh,” you said to yourself. The crowd around you began walking forward; you stayed behind. 
Your phone chimed. Sephiroth again:
>>So so sorry……
And again:
>>Will return asap but may be tmw
You darted towards an expensive building and ducked under its awning. Here, at least, the wind was broken, and you were out of the way of evening traffic.  Thank goodness your gloves were smartphone-compatible, even if they did nothing against this biting cold. You tucked yourself against an enormous decorative hedge. The doorman eyed you with suspicion as you typed:
>>Don’t be sorry!|
You hesitated, staring at the blinking cursor. You continued:
>>Don’t be sorry! I’m on my way any|
You backspaced and tried again:
>>Don’t be sorry! Need a house sitter?
It sounded kinder than Can I please go into your apartment it is SO cold and I’m exposed to the elements here. Before you could second-guess yourself, you hit Send. 
An ellipsis bubble appeared immediately.
“Ma’am?” said the doorman.
“I’m sorry,” you said to him, holding up a finger. “Just one second.”
He grunted and resumed his glum forward stare.
Plink. A new message:
>> No sitting needed. It’s yours
Your reply:
>>Thanks, but I don’t want to mooch
You tapped your foot while you waited for his response. Sure enough, you didn’t have to wait long:
>>Don’t burn it down and we’ll call it even.
>>Ha ha
You sighed in relief and resumed your brisk walk down the street. You typed:
>>I’ll wait there for you!
Sephiroth’s reply to this was blindingly fast:
>>Tease.
You shivered and hid your smile in your scarf. You were close to Sector 0 now, and the Saturday night crowd buzzed around you. A line snaked around the Loveless theater, ending at where black-clad theater employees clipped everyone's tickets and looked through their bags.
Your phone chimed again. Balancing your overnight bag on one thigh, you woke your phone and peered down at the screen.
Sephiroth had sent a winking emoticon.
You touched the key FOB to 4301. The lock sang a small tune before it clicked open. As you shuffled through the door, Sephiroth’s familiar smell hit you all at once: comforting, warm, a soft touch to your cheek.
“Hello?” you called. 
Sterile hallway light spilled into the dark apartment; you could just make out the marble coffee table, the couch, part of the bookshelves. The curtains were drawn. You passed your gloved hand over the wall until you felt a smooth, plastic switch. At your touch, it chimed happily, and all of the apartment’s lights came up at once.
Nothing seemed particularly different, save the eerie silence. You closed the front door behind you and kicked off your shoes. There were still piles of books everywhere; if any had been moved since last weekend, it was impossible to tell. The fireplace and television were off. Automatically, you looked to the top of the bookshelves: Masamune was gone. There were no flowers on the coffee table. No one had been here for a while.
You put your phone in your skirt pocket. “Seph?” you said. No reply. The wooden floor was cool under your stockings; had it always been that way? You couldn’t remember. 
Gloves went into your jacket pockets; the jacket went onto the hangers (empty, save for a black golf umbrella). You pulled out your phone and sent Sephiroth a message:
>>Here! All looks very unburnt to me
You hesitated, then sent a smiling emoticon, too.
You tossed your overnight bag forward, onto the grey carpet, where it landed with a whumph. Everything was still, and you could hear your own breathing. You leaned over the bar counter and looked into the kitchen. The washing machine and dryer sat empty; the dishwasher simply said READY. 
The refrigerator was half-empty, save for the mako samples. A few pre-made meals sat at eye-level: Shinra MREs, cold little bento boxes with rice and sticky tofu in sterile, tidy compartments. A few lonely oranges rolled around at the bottom of a produce basket. Nearly all of the lush, fresh produce from the weekend before was gone. The mako bottles clinked as you closed the refrigerator. 
You poured yourself a glass of that eerily-tasteless water, drank it in a few gulps, and set the empty glass down on the marble countertop. Being in this kitchen felt like entering a haunted house: there were warm memories here once, but they were long gone. 
Your  therapist had smiled as you recounted— with names and details removed— the story of last weekend. Rather than meet her eyes, you spent the session staring at your shoes. That’s amazing! she had said, warm and effusive, and even now, you feel embarrassed.
What would it feel like to enjoy yourself? she had asked. To trust him?
You pulled absently at your blouse. You had spent all this time getting ready for him; he hadn’t specified when he was coming back. Shouldn’t you wait and see when he’d be here, and be ready for him when he did?
After moving the glass to the sink, you turned and walked to the bedroom. There had been a way to turn the lights off from Sephiroth’s phone, but the light switch next to the front door seemed to control the entire apartment. The bedroom, tidy and well-lit, waited for its sole occupant with bated breath. The bed was neatly made, its duvet smoothed over. There were a few books missing from next to the bed; the biology textbook had migrated to the armchair in the corner. 
Your hands hesitated at the closet doors. You had only briefly seen into Sephiroth’s closet while watching him change. Instinctively, your eyes flicked up to the spackled wall, where the awards had once hung. There wasn’t much storage space elsewhere, besides a few drawers on each nightstand. Anything you hadn’t seen before was likely in here.
The closet doors groaned as you pushed one door aside, then the other. The entire closet was only several feet deep, yet it spanned nearly the length of the wall. To your right were hanging uniforms: pants and sweaters, folded neatly on their hangers, next to some button-up shirts. You recognized the pants Sephiroth had worn to the holiday party; then again, they all looked like the same pants, variations on SOLDIER standard khaki and navy. Maroon luggage trunks and cardboard boxes were piled haphazardly on a shelf above the hangers; one turquoise trunk sat below. You tried the lid, found it loose, and opened it, but the velvet-lined interior was empty. In the far corner, you could make out an ironing board propped against the wall. 
In front of you, stretching to your left, were several wooden dressers. Their sparse, generic design reminded you of the GU dorms; there weren’t even drawer pulls. You opened one drawer and looked inside: jeans and sweatpants. The one below: thermals, mostly in dark colors. The one above that: T-shirts. Every item was folded neatly.
You carded through the T-shirt options, which were many and grim.  Born To Ride, said a cartoon dog on a motorcycle. A pair of skeletons lounging on beach chairs, clinking margarita glasses. A cartoon, muscled torso, wearing flowery board-shorts. You raised your eyebrows in disbelief. After an exhaustive search, you settled for a blue-and-green tie-dye shirt, with seagulls flying into a bright sunset. The looping font read COSTA DEL SOL 1998. 
You pressed the shirt to your nose and inhaled deeply. It smelled of his laundry detergent, the very same he had used on your clothes. Last Sunday, when you had returned home, you had tucked your date-night outfit into the back of a drawer. Over the week, you pulled the blouse out and pressed it to your nose, let the memory wash over you. A wild part of you thought that smell was all you’d have to remember him by. 
You turned and tossed the shirt onto the bed behind you. The other dresser held fresh linens: crisp white sheets, a few blankets. You pulled out the black weighted blanket again and set it on the ground.
Sitting atop one dresser was a small, worn wooden picture frame. The photo inside, in faded color, showed a single woman looking at the camera. Her dark brown eyes looked straight down the lens, the barest hint of a smile teasing at the corners of her mouth. Her head was held high. Creases marred the photo: clearly it had been folded, then re-folded, many times, perhaps to fit into a pocket. 
Who was this?
You carefully picked up the frame and brought the faded photo into the light. A past lover, maybe? No: Sephiroth had said his past paramours were all men. Its grimy pastels suggested age: twenty, maybe thirty years. Perhaps it was someone who raised him?
Oh, but no— you recognized those gentle, inquisitive eyes, that soft mouth, the fall of straight hair over her shoulders. You sat cross-legged on the carpet next to the blanket, studying the photo. This was someone related to Sephiroth. You stared at the tidy creases, how they surrounded and protected her face from damage. This photo had been hidden somewhere special, right where he would see it every day.
But hadn’t his mother died? 
You ran your fingertips over the glass, gently tracing her face over and over again. It was strange, you thought, that he would have this photo. Why would she have carried a photo of herself? His father had left, and quickly, too; why would he relinquish her photo with Shinra? His story didn’t suggest more than a nameless mother and father: no relatives, nowhere to go, at Shinra’s mercy for the perpetual favor he now owed them. The moment he was born, his family disintegrated. No one could have given him this photo, but there was no one else this could possibly be.
Then where did this come from?
CLUNK.
You gasped and turned towards the door. You half-expected Sephiroth to be there, staring at you angrily as you pawed through his personal belongings. 
The doorway was empty.
Your blood roared in your ears; you could taste metal on your tongue. You leaned forward, trying to see into the kitchen beyond, but it was empty, too, just as you left it. You pressed your back to the dresser and curled into a small ball, staring hard at the open doorway.
Plink. Your phone, still in your back pocket. 
You reached for it, but you were still holding the photo. Bracing yourself against the dresser, you rose to your feet. It took you several tries to set the photo upright where it had come from. Surely there was someone-- or something-- in the apartment you were now responsible for.
Phone. Phone first. Still staring at the doorway, you reached for your phone. The Shinra messaging app, with Sephiroth’s name at the top of your notifications list:
>>Confirmed out until tmw. Sent dinner. Sorry again
You read the message over again. Your heart raced behind your ribs; you gently rubbed your chest with your free hand. It was only when the scent of hot peppers hit you that you remembered the dumbwaiter in the kitchen, the awful noise it made when it reached Sephiroth’s cabinets. 
You left everything behind as you tread warily into the hall beyond. The hot pepper smell became more intense. “Seph?” you asked, just to make sure you were alone. Silence. Your skin crawled as you craned your neck, looking towards the living room beyond—
Nothing. Empty.
A billow of warm steam hit your face when you opened the dumbwaiter. Inside were several plastic bags, tied neatly at their tops, straining against takeout containers. You took each out, one at a time, setting them on the counter below. 
You opened the first container and understood, instantly, what Sephiroth had sent you: Wutaian cuisine, far too much, and all of it steaming-hot. There were several types of rice, both fried and plain; noodles with shrimp, noodles with fish sauce, noodles with chicken and beef and pork; an assortment of steamed vegetables, buns, and grilled dishes, more than you could count; more food still that you didn’t even register. Fried bananas with ice cream; red bean buns. Every container filled to bursting; all of it smelling heavenly. You stood there, blinking at the assortment of food before you. There had to be enough for you to eat for a week. 
Something tightened in your chest. You took a picture with your phone and sent it to him.
>>Youre so generous!! I can’t eat all this hahaha
Sephiroth replied immediately:
>>Then save some for me. It’s my favorite.
A small price to pay, you thought. 
>>what do i owe u??
An ellipses bubble blinked into existence. Then: Plink.
>>A detailed review... Ha ha
A small price, indeed. Perhaps too small.
You weren’t sure what to do with yourself on Saturday. The apartment was still empty and quiet. Dark, gloomy sheets of rain came down over Midgar. The floors were warm again; heated, you thought.
Sephiroth’s dresser yielded another, marginally-less garish T shirt to wear (several seagulls wearing sunglasses and flower necklaces). It practically reached to mid-thigh on you. After dressing and making yourself coffee, you wandered over to the fireplace, but there wasn’t a clear way to switch it on. You felt around the edges until, at its base, you found a small black button. There was a long hiss from behind the glass. Just as you began to worry about burning the building down, blue flames leapt up and settled into place.
You browsed the bookshelves for something to read. Restitution to Nature: The Growth of the Wutaian Resistance Movement. The War for Grain. Several biographies on people you had never heard of. You skipped over a few shelves, trying to figure out Sephiroth’s organizing system. Yes, there, on the bottom shelves: novels, in every genre imaginable. There was the Cosmo Canyon Mystery series, each of its volumes bound in beautiful red cloth. First editions, too, with pages so yellowed and fragile, you didn’t dare flip through them.
In the end, you looked through the coffee table books on the Ancients. Plenty of jewelry ideas in here: small wire figures, cave carvings, symbols of forgotten deities. The apartment’s silence became unnerving, so you turned on the television. You washed your clothes from the night before in the Shinra-co washing machine. The rain stopped, started, stopped again. You heated up some leftover takeout rice and picked at it. The dumbwaiter brought groceries, and you put them away on Sephiroth’s behalf. The bottles of wine, all looking precariously expensive, didn’t seem to have a home, so you left the reds on the kitchen counter and laid the white in the fridge, next to the MREs. As the sun sank lower in the sky, you put on a documentary about a radio telescope. The dryer chimed impatiently; you opened and closed the door to silence it. Back on the couch, you curled up under the weighted blanket and re-started the movie you had fallen asleep during last weekend. This time, you stayed awake through it all, straight through to the dramatic kiss at the end. You peeled a clementine and licked the juice from your fingers. 
When the streetlights came on below, you began to realize Sephiroth might not return. You checked your phone, but there were no messages. Nothing left for it but to shower and eventually fall asleep in front of the television. At least Sephiroth’s apartment was quiet.
You couldn’t place the odd, homesick yearning that tugged at you when you realized you’d go back to yours tomorrow, and work the day after that. If only you could stay at this apartment every night; the sleep you got here was so total and all-encompassing without traffic or loud neighbors to disturb you. The apartment was kept at a perfect 25-degrees Celsius at all times. You felt…
Safe. That was the word.
You took a shower with the water set to scalding temperatures. The bathroom filled with steam. You brought your own soap with you, too shy to think of taking from him, but curiosity won out: The half-empty bottle of body wash smelled just like his bed. There it was again, that safe feeling, so at odds with the videos and the poster. So at odds with everything. 
But not at odds with the photograph inside his closet. Not at odds with the books under his bed. You felt, more and more often, that you were looking at two different people.
You dried off and secured your hair out of your face. Back in the living room, with a white towel wrapped around your body, you hunted through the bookshelves. A novel called Again and Again looked interesting enough: a forbidden romance between a troubled artist and a planetology ingenue at a Cosmo Canyon university. You brought this into the bathroom and set it aside on a small wooden side table next to the bath. As the hot water ran, you thought about digging into one of the red wine bottles from the groceries. Would he mind?
A horrible thought occurred to you: to anger him, to see where those two different people— the Sephiroth you knew, the Sephiroth everyone else saw— merged into terrifying oneness. It was an impulse to not just open the wine bottle, but to shatter it against the same counter you sat on a week ago. You wanted to shatter all of them.
You wanted—
You walked to the kitchen, opened one of the red wine bottles, and poured yourself a glass. Back in the bathroom, you pulled the side table to within arm’s reach of the bathtub. 
You sank into the warm water gratefully, sighing. Under the bright lights of the bathroom, you could see your body under the gently-undulating water. The Lifestream tattoo appeared to swim and wobble. Fragile came to mind, then you smelled his soap on your skin again and thought, breakable.
Don’t think about that, you chided yourself. Just relax. The irony of just relax: the longer you thought of relaxing things (beautiful, perfect data; the sun shining over Midgar; finding scrap in your old neighborhood in the slums), the more tense you became. You snatched up the wine glass and took a too-deep gulp. It was a cabernet blend, and a dry one. The alcohol scorched your throat on the way down, but you drank more, anyway. You were going to relax and enjoy this, even if it took substances to get you there.
You would relax. You would.
You picked up the novel and began to read.

Kid 1: vote for Barret. Wants their dad to be with someone he 100% trusts and that fought with him for a long time. Places a lot of value on trust and shared experiences. The most rode or die kid of the bunch which is really saying something.
Kid 2: vote for Genesis. Is really invested in the idea of cloud having something resembling an equal when it comes to combat. The fact gen would appreciate their dad’s (far too often overlooked) materia selection just as much as his swords is a plus.
Kid 3: team Rufus. Really wants cloud to be a widower because no one living is worthy of their dad, but the bag needs to be secured before they kill Rufus off. Has high hopes that cloud would be a better president shinra than Rufus ever could be. Practically a shoe in for the Turks. Will hiss at the mention of prenups.
Kid 4 (he/him?): originally voted Sephiroth. Probably thought his eyes looked like an endangered lizard’s and decided that meant the rest of him could be fixed. He is of the opinion cloud is very good at fixing people (others used to say he was weird and broken before cloud, but now they don’t so he must be okay now). Besties with a dragon summon and dreams of giving someone a self fulfilling prophecy because those are his favorite ones.
Kid 1 Lily 11 (She/her): Leader of their group. Brown hair and eyes. Lost her parents when the plate fell and got displaced again after meteorfall. Was brought to Cloud by Marlene who is her best friend to this day. May have alternative motives for wanting Barret to marry Cloud. Will kill for her siblings and friends no questions asked. Has nightmares about the plate falling all the time and takes the longest warm up to the Turks as a result. Future mechanic/gunsmith. Has definitely had more than one experiment explode on her.
Kid 2 Ky 12 (He/they): The Nerd™️ of the group. Red hair brown/red eyes. Got kicked out when he caught geostigma and never bothered to check if his parents wanted him back after he was cured or if they even lived. Was brought in by Denzel after the church along with a few other geostigma kids who had nowhere else to go. Always more comfortable with books rather than people. Looks for symbolism in everything. Has made all of them go see Loveless a dozen times. Materia gremlin. Could probably outcast Cloud if given a few years.
Kid 3 Jayden 10? No one is sure (they/them): The most mysterious/murder gremlin of the group. Could be Cloud’s pre-mako clone with the blond hair and blue eyes. No one really knows anything about them pre Geostigma and didn’t ask for fear of making them sad/bitey. Will settle for Tseng or Elena for Cloud if Rufus is not an option/as a second marriage. Has mutual beef with Reno and no one knows why. Will be scouted for the Turks if they can just stop plotting Rufus’ death.
Kid 4 Seraph 10 (he/him): The Weird Kid™️. White/blond hair green eyes. Ran away from an abusive/neglectful home before everything and kept running after. Only went with Kadaj and co because they looked so similar to him. Most people that meet him swear that he was a Shinra experiment but no one will say so out loud for fear of Cloud and his other kids bodying them on the spot. Likes fortune telling, lizards, and magic (non materia). Has a hard time with social situations and crowds but so does cloud so he feels better about it now than he did before.

Author's notes (with updates):
2023/8/18: The beginning of this series is just thinking about the titles of the books 🥲. I'm looking for something unique for the general title, which I hope to find soon. The spin-off books number will change too.
2023/8/19: The first book is supposed to be the whole story of Yui and her friends' childhood in a church orphanage. How three children investigate demons. Therefore, the title of Genesis is a good choice to start this adventure. A big thanks to my dear follower @onelonelyacepie for sharing their ideas with me.
2023/8/26: I'm still thinking about titles. But apart from that, I wanted to write this update to introduce the names I chose as Yui's best friends. Yumiko and Kina. I will explain the reason for choosing these names soon, but about the name Kina, it is the name of one of my friends in the Japanese fandom and she loves Yui very much, just like me 🤧🥺.
