Pippa Movie Review: The Good, the Bad, and the Unique - Viewer Beware!
Tumblr media
Pippa is an excellent movie that tells the story of the 1971 Indo-Pak war in a unique way. It gives us a different view of the battlefield and the lives of the people during that time. The characters are portrayed with great care, like a skilled chef creating a special dish, paying attention to every detail. Pippa Trailer Release on Ishaan Khatter Birthday: A Special Celebration Pippa Screening: Mira Rajput Joins Brother-in-law Ishaan Khatter in Style Proud Military Enthusiast: As someone who loves military movies, Pippa really connected with me. The way it showed the first-generation Amphibian battle tanks and how they were adapted for swamps and rivers was very detailed and accurate. What I liked most was that it didn't have the usual Bollywood hype, but instead, it found a good balance with the actors' efforts, the script, how it was shot, the research, and the direction. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CzGKmsxSLHx/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== The Good and the Not-So-Good: Viewer's Take Pros: Learning about things not many know, like India's first amphibious army tanks. Great acting by Priyanshu Painyuli, Innamulhaq, Soham Majumdar, and Chandrachoor Rai. Post-credit scenes that teach us about historical events, like the Garibpur action. Cons: Some actors, like Ishan Khatter and Soni Razdan, didn't fit well into their roles. The way the story was told wasn't as engaging as other war movies like 'URI.' Extra story bits and songs that might distract from the main story. Directorial Brilliance and the Mehta Family Saga: Pippa, despite its flaws, shines in several areas. The realistic battle scenes, especially those involving PT-76 Tanks, are well choreographed and shot, providing a gripping cinematic experience. Tanmay and his team's adaptation of Brigadier Balram Mehta's book, "The Burning Chaffees," is commendable. Ishaan Khatter's portrayal of Capt Mehta captures the essence of the 1971 War, and the entire cast deserves kudos for their efforts. A Unique War Story: Raja Krishna Menon took a different route with Pippa, choosing to focus more on family dynamics than the typical war movie approach. By diving into the Mehta family's personal tales, the film sparks discussions on whether this creative choice does justice to the heroic story it intends to share. Technical Issues and Looks: Unfortunately, technical problems like poor visuals and incomplete action scenes hold back the film's impact. Despite maintaining a good pace, the not-so-great appearance on streaming platforms might leave viewers wanting a more visually satisfying experience. Honoring Values and Bravery: Even with its technical hiccups, Pippa stands tall as a tribute to human values, sacrifice, and India's bravery. The director's commitment to showcasing the 1971 battle against Pakistan and the birth of Bangladesh deserves applause. A R Rahman's music adds a soulful and authentic touch to the film's melody. Final Thoughts: In the end, Pippa is a movie that splits opinions. It might not please everyone, but its different way of looking at war, along with great performances, makes it a movie you should check out. Whether you connect with its unique style or find fault in its departure from typical war stories, Pippa adds something interesting to the world of movies. The way the movie ends makes you think. It might sit well with fans of typical movies, but there's a lingering sense that it didn't quite meet expectations. Maybe I expected too much from this cinematic journey. ‘Goodbye’: A Poignant Family Drama About Death Which Is Unmissable
Summary: With an emotional storyline and captivating performances, Goodbye is one of the best films in recent times for B-Town
Introduction: Family is an integral part of anyone’s life. We all are incomplete without it. Bollywood has been trying to regain its lost glory with a mixed bag of films like ‘Brahmastra,’ ‘Rakshabandhan,’ ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi,’ ‘Vikram Vedha,’ and so on. Fans that have not gotten a chance to see a feel-good yet well-made film in the past few months don’t have to wait anymore. The renowned director Vikas Bahl has brought a riveting family drama film ‘Goodbye.’
Plot: The film’s main plot revolves around the changing dynamics because of family patriarch Harish’s (Amitabh Bachchan) wife Gayatri’s (Neena Gupta) death. Gayatri dies too quickly. Her unexpected death is a huge shocker for Harish and their four adult children. Each one has different ways to cope with their mourning and grief.
Storyline: Harish, the patriarch of the family, who is also the father of their four adult children, becomes a religious person. The spunky and fiery-headed daughter Tara (Rashmika Mandanna) becomes an atheist and starts hating the existence of religious rituals. For her, all these things are just meaningless and waste. She parties hard and lives in the moment. She is at loggerheads with her father Harish.
Karan (Pavail Gulati), who comes home with his American wife Daisy (Elli AvrRam), is a severe workaholic. He is having a business meeting during his mother’s ongoing cremation. While Angad (Sahil Mehta) indulges in stress-eating, on the flip side, Nakul (Abhishek Khan) is an emotionally unreachable person. While, no one in Harish’s family has ever been to a funeral. Due to that, they don’t know the importance of these archaic rituals related to death.
Performances: Special mention to the fact that Rashmika has given a nuanced performance as Tara, who is dealing differently with the loss of her mother. It felt like the role was tailor-made for her. Amitabh Bachchan as Harish, has essayed the character with finesse and perfection.
Other characters like Pavail Gulati as Karan, Sahil Mehta as Angad, and Abhishek Khan as Nakul have also played their roles effortlessly with confidence. But out of them all, Amitabh Bachchan and Rashmika Mandanna, stole the limelight with their stellar and nuanced acting in the film. ‘Goodbye’ has a blend of emotional undertones, a riveting storyline, an impressive star cast, and beautiful moments which make us realize the importance of having a family.
Review: The film has been garnering rave reviews and applause from audiences and critics for brilliantly using black humor as it deals with the after-effects of the shocking death, which shakes the foundation of entire family. In simple words, this Indian reimagination of the classic Hollywood film ‘Death at a Funeral,’ has been a risk that paid off well.
‘Goodbye’ has effectively stirred emotions of love and longing in the audiences and critics. There’s been a superb representation of all the main characters in the film. Exceptional direction and cinematography by Vikas Bahl with flashbacks of Gayatri that appear in the film have earned brownie points.
When Gayatri returns in flashbacks for all the main characters, Harish has nostalgia for their romantic love story. Tara, feels teary-eyed for not returning her mother’s phone calls. Karan sweetly revisits a precious childhood memory and misses his mom at that moment. ‘Goodbye’ with a mix of dark humor and squabbles, which are a part of the bereavement after-effects experienced by the family brought to screens brilliantly by Vikas Bahl, is a tale of moving on and letting go.

A biography By Manohar Kapoor
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anil Sharma is an Indian movie director and producer. Amitabh has been an active participant in Indian politics for over a decade, and is a member of the Communist party. Amitabh has made some films that have won him many accolades in India and abroad. Amitabh has adapted his love for photography and film very well into his work as an director. His first two films, Kaal Bhaiya (2021) and Mankatha (2021), did not receive favourable reviews from the Hindi film fraternity, but he has since gained appreciation for his work.
Anil's first two Bollywood hits, Kaal Bhaiya and Mankatha, did not do too well in the foreign market. However, his next two movies, Yoga (Yash Rajneeti), starring Ranbir Kapoor and Madhumati (Till Death Do Us Part), were much more successful and did well at the box office. Most critics agree that Apoor does an excellent job of retelling traditional Indian stories in a modern light, which is both fun and engaging. Some of the stories are even old enough to be relevant even today, like the one about the ghost writer who is believed to have written the Ramayana. A film like Yoga makes Aptana an even more interesting character, and turns out to be a definite must-see film.
Aptana tells the story of three young men from the outskirts of Mumbai - Dayanita, Vimala and Karanj (Koena Sheikh), who fall in love and are forced to leave their home to go to Delhi to continue their studies and pursue their careers. Aptana depicts their various struggles and adventures in the city, and those struggles also give us an insight into the psyche of the Indian audience. We come to know about the intricacies of romantic love, and the various emotions that a normal man and woman go through during their daily life. We also learn about the perils that face day to day life, as well as the resilience of the human spirit. Aptana would be incomplete without a good portrayal of the Hindi language, and it was this very feature that added to the popularity of Apoorji's first ever feature.
Karanj has a very different kind of appeal than Dayanita and Vimala. He is a more traditional character, almost tribal in nature. Karanj could also be seen as a visionary of sorts, given his association with Mulk Raj Anand, the great Bengali writer. Raj had a very large role in Apoorji, playing a major character called Kancha, who was the main catalyst in bringing Apoorji to the big screen. Karanj did not help his case by being dull, or by being a bit stereotypical. Instead, he made an impression with a series of films that won him many awards, including the best actor award at the 1996 Academy Awards, and an additional Oscar for his contribution to the film.
When Karanj's career took off in the eighties, he did not entirely leave the Indian Film industry. Instead, he went on to direct some English films and also produced a number of comedies. This is one of the elements of Apoorji that makes it stand apart from most bollywood films - an element that Apoorji simply cannot get enough of. The biography of Apoorji that covers this period is entitled Apoorji and the Making of Today's Film Director.
Karanj has also co-written two movies with Yash Chopra - The Great Bazaar and Meet The Parents. He also has a number of accolades to his credit, including an Academy Award and an honorary doctorate from Harvard University. It is these films that would give you insight into what the template message for an Apoorji bio should focus on.
We learn very little about Apoorji, other than he is from rural India, has English as his mother tongue, and that he is a great baker. However, we do come to realise just how much Apoorji's intellect and creativity stands out from other actors of his time. For example, when Apoorji co-writes The Great Bazaar with Yash Chopra, the legendary director gives the script a real depth and sense of humanity, even though at times the story seems to go in circles (which is to say, the plot thickens). Apoorji brings the character of Bala to life in such a way that Apoorji's presence is felt throughout the film - and is therefore one of the strongest features of the Apoorji biographies.
Finally, Anil's son Swapna is brilliantly depicted in the book. The biographer finally reveals how their working relationship with Chandan Mulay became so strong. Anil had initially rejected Swapna and his aspirations for stardom, but when Chandan was injured badly in an accident on the set of an Apoorji movie, Anil had no choice but to let the then 20 year old actor try out for the lead role. Although it was a low moment in Anil's career, it helped him to gain respect as an actor and he soon came to regard Chandan as his friend. Anil's love of the cinema is well demonstrated in this book and anyone who has seen Anil shoot some of his greatest films would be doing themselves a great service to read about this remarkable man and woman of Indian theatre.

We are back! And what a time to be back! We hear that Hrithik's 25th film has finally been locked and it is going to be none other than Vikram Vedha. So congratulations, or as the French say, 'Felicitations' to every #Hrithikian out there. Since Hrithik will be reuniting with Saif Ali Khan after 19 years in a film, we found it apt to devote this blog to the first film they starred together in, 'Na Tum Jano Na Hum'.. Also, we have tried something different here, but let us delve into that later. First, it is time to reminisce Rahul.
The name Rahul is so embedded within our minds in association with SRK that everytime a screen character is called that, a lot of us tend to form an image of him. And SRK's Rahul is usually flamboyant, extrovert and blatantly romantic. However, in NTJNH, Hrithik's Rahul was more introverted and less exuberant. He seldom made grand romantic gestures, and when he did, he hid them. This was a different Rahul and Hrithik made him his own. In the process, he made an otherwise weak film relatable, obviously, aided by the always dependable Saif Ali Khan.
NTJNH suffered from some pretty glaring flaws as far as the story and script were concerned. Falling in love through letters might seem dated to some; nevertheless, that was never our problem. However, we do have a difference of opinion regarding the procedure they chose to write those letters in. 🤣 One of us thought it was not too ancient a technique; the other was in favour of a more modern method.
Tumblr media
That said, we did agree on the other points. For instance, it seemed a little out of character for Akshay, an out and out cassanova, to fall so much in love at first sight with Esha that he became absolutely desperate to marry her despite knowing well she was in love with someone else. It seemed totally contrived so that it could serve the purpose of the triangular love story. Nonetheless, NTJNH had several positives too, and none more than its male lead character, Rahul.
Incidentally, Hrithik made a very similar film which released right after NTJNH. You guessed right. We are talking about Mujhse Dosti Karoge. So, now we come to the 'different' part that was mentioned at the beginning of this blog. Since these two films were so similar to each other as far as the stories were concerned, we thought it would be a good idea to amalgamate the two. It also seemed like a great opportunity to pick out the contrasts in Hrithik's characters and analyse them. So let us embark upon the journey of sketching the characters of Rahul and Raj (oh! Even Raj is an iconic SRK name which Hrithik left his unique imprint upon!)
The stories of both the films were so similar that we often feel had Mujhse Dosti Karoge released sometime later instead of the same year, it would probably have fared much better at the box office. If the point of consideration is film quality, Mujhse Dosti Karoge was perhaps a better film overall. It was better packaged, more slick and had the magic of Hrithik-Rani together.
Tumblr media
Nevertheless MDK had its share of contrivances as well. Who can forget the clueless parents of Raj and Puja and the ever oblivious Tina who never understood that those two were madly in love with each other, although anyone with an iota of sense would have guessed it immediately? Well, thanks to them for their ignorance since we did get some pretty intense Hrithik-Rani moments in the film.
Although NTJNH lacked the slickness of MDK which is an important part of a commercial entertainer, it had an inherent honesty about it, which is always more attractive than the former. In that sense, it probably could have been a better film than MDK, but for certain technical issues. And most of that honesty, if not all of it, was generated by the character of Rahul.
Rahul was the noblest side in the triangle between Akshay, Esha and him. An introvert with a golden heart, ever ready to sacrifice his happiness, and even the love of his life, for his best friend and the family that cared for him. Interestingly, this same role was played by Rani as Puja in Mujhse Dosti Karoge, while Hrithik's Raj was as different from Rahul as he could possibly be.
Raj was assertive, stubborn, and at times outright cruel, but only because he loved as much as Rahul did. While Rahul chose to pine quietly, hidden from everyone, Raj refused to let Puja destroy her own happiness and his. In this, he resembled Esha to some extent, although he was far more headstrong than her. And here, we must acknowledge the bundle of talent that is Hrithik Roshan.
pic credit google
Tumblr media
Rahul's innocence was reflected in his eyes in NTJNH and those same gorgeous eyes flashed with anger and hurt when Raj found Puja willing to give him up. His breathtaking helplessness as Rahul during the revealation of Esha's identity, grief in 'Tum' and 'Ja Sanam', frustration and finally painful submission in the scene with Akshay where he wanted him to tell Esha that he did not love her, in juxtaposition with Raj's anger upon discovering Puja's lie, determination in not letting her sacrifice their love, jealousy everytime Rohan came in Puja's vicinity, and finally mad passion during blatant proclamations such as 'Main Tina ko shaadi ke mandap mein khara chod dunga' (I shall leave Tina standing alone at the wedding) proved yet again that bollywood had finally got a star who could captivate audiences with his acting skills even in commercial entertainers. Here was an actor who could be both vulnerable and strong, and never seem out of place with any of it.
Tumblr media
Of course, this discussion shall remain incomplete unless we mention Hrithik-Saif and Hrithik-Rani's on screen chemistry.
Hrithik and Saif exuded a natural bonding and ease with each other on the screen which made any scene with the two enjoyable. Their comic timing was perfect, without going over the top.
The serious scenes were so well done on either side that they left us wanting for more.
Thank God for Vikram Vedha!🤪
And what do we even say about Hrithik-Rani? Well, suffice it to say that in our opinion, the fact that these two have never worked together again is one of the greatest tragedies of modern bollywood.
gif credit unknown
Tumblr media
Let us just hope that someone out there is writing a script which will be worth both their time.
Tumblr media
On that note, we end this blog in the hope that we have been able to satisfy our readers. We also pose a question to you- whose perspective, in your opinion was correct? Rahul or Raj? 😉
Last, but in no way the least, we wish this entire fandom and the man himself #HrithikRoshan a very very Happy Holi. May this festival wipe away the greys of Covid and spread colours of joy amongst all of us in days to come.

Gilbert Stuart👨🏻‍🎨a name that literally changed the face of the American dollar forever💵How?Well simply cause he was a GENIUS!🤑Here's how we got inspired from the famous atheanum potrait🖼🖌of George Washington🇺🇸 We tend to have a psychology🤨that if we don't complete a work of art🎨a speech🎤or a story💬it'll never receive the amount of appreciation👏🏻it should receive. But why do we even look at the incomplete endings as an unacceptable🙅🏻‍♂️or negative thing, maybe that's how it ends or that's the best it can get🤷🏻‍♀️ Have you ever wondered why the endin' of a relationship's so bitter? It"s because it means driftin' away of two people.🫂Why there's a negetive perspective for the words break-up, fight or divorce; because you get at the verge of endin' things. But it doesn't mean we can stop or avoid endings, that would be a cowardly act,for example death. Death's something so frightenin'🙇🏻‍♀️yet special🙎🏻‍♂️Frightenin' cause you never know when and how its goin' to take you away from your loved ones, but ignorin' this fact we can consider it so special as mentioned above because it gives a meanin' to the most beautiful journey in this world called LIFE👶🏻 Nothing becomes LEGENDARY until it has a dead end🚫otherwise that greatest thing will go on 🔁and no one'll start admiring it cause it'll simply flow with the BREEZE OF TIME over people's head. And that's how history's created, doing somethin' legendary that ended beautifully. Death's🪦also very important cause it constantly reminds you of all the things you could do and gets you to the task of creatin' a BUCKET LIST or WISHLIST. Ending's hence required too. Period (*chuckles* giving meaning to a statement!) Comin' back to being incomplete,we should always LEAVE SPACE for one extra scene in our story,a little scope for finishin' touches in our artwork and a little extra time⏳for revision before exams, cause you never know when you get the BEST VERSION or the MOST SUITABLE ENDING. So don't be worried 'bout the PERFECT ENDIN' rather go for the EXTRA SPACE that always lets you create somethin' BETTER THAN BEFORE!!!! #picoftheday #washington #quotes #america #american #bollywoodactresses #bollywood https://www.instagram.com/p/CIQ7cxRlxdl/?igshid=1rqlhbwxr36fe

Fandoms You Write For: now just marvel, but i have written for mortal instruments, the vampire diaries and harry potter as well
Where You Post: both tumblr and ao3, but my smaller pieces exist solely on tumblr
Most Popular One-Shot: uhh, i have no idea actually. according to ao3 statistics the dumbest genius alive has the biggest hits; but i have no idea what my most popular one shot is at all
Most Popular Multi-Chapter Story: i think its a tie between the just friends au and the greek gods au, but to be fair the carbonell family au does get a lot of buzz as well
Favourite Story You Wrote: definitely my morgan stark's villain origin story. i actually wanna really get back into that and expand that universe; but thats definitely one of my favourite pieces ever
Story You Were Nervous to Post: all of them. i don’t have a single post that im comfortable putting up. sometimes its because im not completely happy with how its turned out; sometimes its because i’ve spent so long as i want it to do well- sometimes; like with the just friends au its been so long since i updated that im worried nobody is going to read it because they’ve forgotten about it
How Do You Choose Your Titles: usually song lyrics; but sometimes its just really random words strung together with a parentheses to make it seem smarter somehow (my nsfk blog in particular is proof of this)
Do You Outline: yes and no. when i start writing something; i generally have a specific scene or a specific line that i want to include- so the entire story gets constructed around it. but i don’t plan out where i want stories to go; which is why i tend to shy away from multi-chaptered stories; because i can never quite figure out where i want the story to go
Complete: i think, because i make write stand alone pieces; they’re almost all complete. only my multi-chapters are incomplete
In-Progress: ive already mentioned the multi-chapters so; on top of that- bollywood but make it gay and (hopefully) another chapter in my mamma mia au
Coming Soon/Not Yet Started: my target and assassin au, and my red room au; and quite a few prompts. im just holding off on those until i get a stable job, because until then my only source of income is currently commissions
Do You Accept Prompts: always. i absolutely love getting prompts- and i actually rb prompt lists very frequently
Upcoming Story You Are Most Excited to Write: i think my morgan stark villain origin story and my red room au (and the target and assassin au tbf); because in those pieces im genuinely creating my own world. im creating completely new characters; just with familiar names. im also really excited about bollywood but make it gay because its a challenge but a really rewarding one. fingers crossed- i hope people respond to that series
