Tony's Experimental Group - Cometa
Single, 2023
Progressive rock - heavy metal
Apparizioni
GB - Apparitions
The spring's afternoon ("Pomeriggio di primavera") is followed by a bizarre night of strange observations, conjectures off the leash free to roam in the light of a comet in which messianic figures stand out, distorted, perhaps intent on maneuvering events in the guise of overly jovial waiters. Or maybe it's a man's last thoughts just after the crash.
The Devil's set list
And the soundtrack is a record put on by the devil. A beautiful demonic heavy metal blues with a persuasive, shivering pace, the ferocious ones caused by a fingernail dragged across the blackboard.

Wednesday, March 1: Badlands, “Heaven’s Train”
R.I.P. Ray Gillen (1959-1993)
There was a strange feeling of exhaustion and lack of inspiration on Voodoo Highway. It was strange because although the first Badlands record didn’t sell a ton of copies, it got great reviews and garnered a small but loyal following. At the same time, however, it was clear that Atlantic wasn’t very invested in the band, since the follow-up sounded lower budget from the jump (guitarist Jake E. Lee and James Ball co-produced and were clearly less experienced than Paul O’Neill); and with Eric Singer gone for much more lucrative pastures, plus rumors of infighting between Lee and Ray Gillen (not to mention the strong possibility that Gillen knew he had AIDS at this point), perhaps it all made some sense that their next record was a comedown. As a result of all of this, “Heaven’s Train” sounded like something that would’ve burned down the house on Badlands but came off a bit deflated here. Lee was still a phenomenal player, and Gillen sang up a storm, but even though the track was an enjoyable listen, something was missing. It was as if the guys were consummate pros but couldn’t work up the enthusiasm, and when Voodoo Highway did even worse than Badlands at the box office it proved a less than stellar ending to a career that almost was.
