DT timeline from fowl (theory/headcanon)
In the early 60's Bradford was still young with a full head of hair, met and teamed up with black heron, making f.o.w.l…
Some time a little later in the mid 60's Heron tried to get the formula for gummi-berry juice, meanwhile Scrooge just joined s.h.u.s.h. as a new philanthropist, he and Beakley beat Heron, and Bradford must have just found out his partner in crime just got defeated by those two.
Scrooge's big Christmas party probably happened in the late 70's that would be a whole new decade later for him to age into the state we see him at the Christmas party where he and Scrooge apparently first met face to face.
Ludwig Van Drake got kidnapped by f.o.w.l. sometime after the 70's or at least some time after the Christmas party. If they had the stone of what was at the time and didn't lose it yet. It would be very easy to fake someone's death by just leaving a lifeless clone of that person to be found. Before being kidnapped, he still trusted Bradford enough at the time for Bradford to easily lure him somewhere to capture him.
Later in the early 90's is when Donald and Della come to stay with Scrooge and "The First Adventure". After which Bradford becomes Scrooge's new CFO, and starts his 30 year plan to get the papyrus of binding back.
Then either that year or some other year after that Dewy time travels back to meet his mom and uncle as kids for Christmas.
Around 2006, Scrooge built the Spear of Selene and Bradford told Della about it, basically instigating the Spear of Selene fiasco.
Beakley attempted to shut down f.o.w.l. once and for all but finds a baby duckling who she named Webby and goes into hiding at McDuck manner. This is possibly also when f.o.w.l. lost the Stone of what was.
Possibly after that, Bradford causes Duckworth's death, either directly or indirectly.
August 12, 2017, the triplets meet their uncle Scrooge for the first time.(DuckTales 2017 officially started)
September 23, 2017, "The great dime chance!"
April 2018, "The Beast in the Board Room!"
July 7, 2018, Black Heron made a second attempt at recreating gummi-berry juice but was stopped by Webby.
August 11, 2018 "the last crash of the sunchaser!"
August 18, 2018, Magical DeSpell was released, The Shadow war happened. Then Magica lost her magic.
September 2018, "Countdown to Termination!"
December 24, 2018, "Last Christmas!" takes place.
May 13, 2019, Della returned to earth and reunited with (most) of her family.
September 9, 2019, Timephoon.
September 11, 2019, Louie became the richest duck in the world. Bradford tricked him into releasing the zombie bombie, where Louie ended up cutting the funding to McDuck's satellites before giving the wealth back to scrooge.
September 12, 2019, The Moonvasion happened. And after that ended f.o.w.l. came back "from the shadows".
April 4, 2020, the ducks found the lost journal of Isabella Finch. And f.o.w.l. was watching them.
April 4, 2020, "Quack Pack!" the ducks found the lamp of Alli Babah.
April 11, 2020, "Double-O-Duck in you only crash twice" the Intelli-ray was invented using the Third Eye Diamond.
April 18, 2020, The lost Harp of Mervana was found.
September 21, 2020, "The Phantom and the Sorceress", Magica got her magic back.
October 12, 2020, The Forbidden Fountain of the Foreverglades was found by the ducks.
October 19, 2020, "Let's Get Dangerous!" Bradford got outed as the leader of f.o.w.l.
October 26, 2020, Bradford distracts the Ducks as f.o.w.l. steals all the missing mysteries that were found.
November 2, 2020, the split sword of Swanstantine was recovered by the ducks from f.o.w.l.
November 23, 2020, the blessed bagpipes of clan McDuck was recovered by the Ducks.
March 1, 2021, The Ducks recovered the stone of what was, but f.o.w.l. was able to get back a piece of it.
March 15, 2021, the events of "The Last Adventure" Happened happened. f.o.w.l. was defeated and Bradford got turned into a feral vulture by Magica.

Was Scrooge ever able to break the curse that affected his family? 😢
The only curse I know of is the one on Castle McDuck, which came to be because he used discount druid stones, and thus making everyone in his family at that time immortal. Downy and Fergus McDuck, his parents, are immortal, and I believe his younger sister Matilda is as well. By extension, I think that also includes Scrooge himself (debatable since some conversations he has with Goldie do show that he ages and that he's found ways to make himself younger and extending his life). I would assume Hortense, Scrooge's other sister and Della and Donald's mother, is also immortal, although the show never talks about her. (We don't talk about Hortense, no no no.)
I don't think the curse is broken. I think when the Phantom Blot and Pepper invaded Castle McDuck for the Blessed Bagpipes, the curse might have been put on hold but once the Phantom Blot wasn't there to suck out the magic of the druid stones/natural magic around Castle McDuck, the curse continued.
I would like to write a bit about Castle McDuck and perhaps go into the curse and some family history, and I would like it to involve Hortense, bringing in the one family member that Disney wasn't going to address (I was certain they would, and perhaps they had plans if a fourth season was going to happen. Sad DX). I especially want to do a story about the Cursed Kilt of Clan McDuck (There's a Blessed Bagpipes, so there's obviously a Cursed Kilt. Ah, curse me kilts, oh, so that's where that came from lol)

Since there is a real Blessed Bagpipe of Clan McDuck, there must be a Cursed Kilt
What if it's like The Pair Of Pale Green Pants With Nobody Inside Them from Dr Seuss. It's a disembodied kilt that roams the moors and blasted heaths, dancing to a jig no mortal ears can hear. If a poor soul wanders too close to it, it'll grab you and go on you, forcing you to dance until you're nothing but dust and bone.
It roams the downs looking for it's next victim.

Inspired by the recent post you made, could you kinda elaborate on what makes Secrets of Castle McDuck so great and the best episode and what made Fight for Castle McDuck not work and the worst episode of the show? I respect your opinion and I myself do love Secrets of Castle McDuck (and had issues with Fight for Castle McDuck) but I wanna know your analysis/take on it. Also, you think the whole Spear of Selene drama could've made for better reason for Scrooge/Matilda to fight?
Wow, I wasn’t expecting for such an ask, but okay, I’ll do my best to answer!
First and foremost, I need to emphasis that Secret(s) of Castle McDuck is the best episode to me, personaly. This was the episode that truly hooked me on Ducktales, so yes, I’m biased when I say Secret(s) is the best episode.
I truly believe it’s one of the best episodes of the show, however, and the reason for that is the two family conflicts we have in it.
Fergus & Scrooge: This is the first time we meet the Father of the richest duck in the world, and we just fall heads on this broken, bitten (not petty) Father & Son relationship. We don’t know why they’re like that, and their bickering is funny to watch, but at the same time we can see how frustrated at the situation Scrooge is. He didn’t even want to be there!
... And that was actually the problem, as we find out later. By who? Fergus. When he and Scrooge go into the castle’s walls, Fergus admits, after his son explodes on his face about how he never gave him anything, that he was the one who gave Scrooge his first dime. He did that to teach his son how to fend for himself, but Scrooge learned it so well that he very much forgot about his family.
Fergus admits he’s hard on his son because he misses him, and in return Scrooge admits he misses his parents too.
A conflict plot that was: fun at the beginning, got deeper, and concluded satisfactorily.
Huey, Dewey & Louie: Now the reason why this episode is my favorite.
Different from Fergus and Scrooge, the situation that follows the conflict between the triplets isn’t unknown for us; on the contrary, it had been built up through the whole season. Dewey found informations, clues, about their mother and never shared it with his brothers.
It’s fun to watch Dewey trying to make Huey and Louie give up on the treasure hunt, but in the end actually needing his brothers’ help to solve the clues and get closer to the prize, which he was the only who knew had something to do with Della.
And then, the catacombs scene happens.
Tumblr media
“BECAUSE IT BELONGS TO MOM!”
Tumblr media
“You kept a secret about Mom...”
Tumblr media
“That’s not okay.”
Huey and Louie were hurt, but even then they still went for their brother and saved Dewey from the demon dog (with a little help from their ghost relatives that scene makes me so emotional). I really believe that Dewey’s second I’m sorry, when they go back for Della’s bag, is sincere. He learned his lesson and can’t wait to continue the investigation with Huey and Louie by his side.
One more time, the conflict plot was: fun at the beginning, got deeper, and concluded satisfactorily.
This is the main reason I love Secret(s) of Castle McDuck so much. That’s why I love the Castle McDuck! There lies all the history, good or bad, of this huge, ancient clan. Those walls hold so much history and the possibilities of what to do with them is countless!
So I will give this to Fight for Caslte: a magic bagpipe is a way to try to bring this history into life.
Before starting to talk about Fight For Castle McDuck, I need to say, again, that the episode’s the worst to me, personally.
Let’s start analysing what I pointed out the most in Secret(s): the conflicts.
Different from Fergus & Scrooge in season 1, Matilda and Scrooge’s conflict starts off clearly and purely as a petty fight between siblings. And this is all it is, literally, it never gets deeper than Whiskers.
But even then, for some reason, Webby acts as if the world’s ending! Webby, my dear, you’ve been living with the boys for almost two years now, and with Donald and Della for a long while. Please, tell me you know siblings fight. Please, listen to Dewey.
And before continuing with the McDucks, let’s take a look on Huey and Louie. In this episode, Huey’s trying to follow the instructions Finch left in her journal for them to find the Blessed Bagpipes, and Louie just wants to find a short cut while mocking his brother’s way to do things.
Now I wouldn’t be too bothered by that, if Fight for Castle McDuck wasn’t an episode that happens after season 2, the season where Louie learns that short cuts aren’t always the best strategy, and after two or three episodes in season 3 where Louie learns that he needs to listen and trust on his brothers.
Now back to the McDucks... they’re still fighting about Whiskers, this time with Fergus and Downey involved too. Downey defending Scrooge while Fergus defends Matilda, because- oh right, I almost forgot to mention: do you guys remember all that development where Fergus admited he was hard on Scrooge because he missed him? Well, now Fergus is back at being a mean Dad to Scrooge, but for no reason this time.
You asked if I think the whole Spear of Selene drama could've made for better reason for Scrooge/Matilda to fight, and my answer is: absolutely. It would be the best reason ever, especially because Matilda has a life outside of the Castle, she can go out, so different from Downey and Fergus no one can convince me she didn’t know that her niece disappeared for ten years. She knew. And the fact that she doesn’t mention it once, the fact she doesn’t look mad at Scrooge at all, the fact she doesn’t even ask about Donald and Della-
It was a golden opportunity wasted on a ball of furr.
Then, we finally get to the apex of the episode: everyone (Scrooge, Matilda, Downy, Fergus, Huey, Dewey and Louie) in the statues run, fighting for petty reasons, only for the statues of Clan McDuck to be brought into life... and also start fighting between them for no reason!
But no fret, because Webby will play a sad audio she recorded of how much she loves the McDucks and they will all instantly stop!
I can’t start to say who’s more in the wrong here and how much this episode’s execution was made poorly. So in the end, the conflicts were: fun at the beginnig, but never got deeper, and the conclusion was everything but satisfactory.
Besides, you noticed that I didn’t mention, Pepper, Blot, or FOWL at all in this post right? That was how important they were for this episode! Two agents of the main villain of the season and the family barely aknowledge their presence there!
It’s frustrating, infuriating, and I’m getting tired, so I’m finish here. I hope this was enough of an answer to you. Thanks a lot for your question :)

Missing peace's
Hi there
February is now upon us and I have come from the ashes of last year like a phoenix and one word in on my lips.
DUCKS!!!!
anyway, I have rewatching s3 (again) and I would like to gather the things that the duck fam and FOWL have gathered (so far) and see what might be done with them.
List of things so far...
1) the harp of mervana
Tumblr media
what is it?: a herp (duh)
what does it do?:  It tells the truth. The harp answers any question truthy but it also seems to be able to answer the truth about outcomes.
for example when Louie say’s they need to jump as “its the only way” the herp answers “correct”
and later with the mervanains trying to build the harp says the thing is going to fall and it does.
Note that the herp is not asked directly about these things.
2) Gene the Genie
Tumblr media
what is he?: a Genie (again duh)
What does he do: grants wishes, BUT he only able to grant them in a way he understands them, like Donald wants “normal family problems” so Gene puts them in a sitcom (situational comedy), he does not change the family he changed the world around them, as 90′s sitcoms is how Gene translates  “normal family problems” so any wish made will have his flare to it.
3) The Third Eye Diamond
Tumblr media
(this was modified to do the opposite to its OG intent, However it did work as planned on LP.)
What is it?: a magic gem/ a gun
What does it do?: it enhances someone's intelligences and abilities, It makes them the “best” version of themselves. It also seems to give them insights they may not have had otherwise (LP’s realisation that he wants to be ‘good enough’ LP tends to not have these reflect moments all that often...not on propose anyway) So the third eye also gives you wisdom into yourself and what is happening around you (as Lp found out about FOWL).
(it also gives people British accents)
4) The Fountain of Youth
Tumblr media
What is it? : a fountain/ pool
What does it do?: it seals the youth of one person and the can give it to another.
not much else to say about this one.
5) The Solego Circuit
Tumblr media
What is it?: a Key
What does it do?: it opens gateways to other dimensions (unstable ones atm), It can bring things in from other dimensions (objects and people) but it can also make someone be part of another dimension (scrooge jumping on the table) and not think anything is off.
Dr Waddlemier (Gos’s Grandpa) is the only one (other them MAYBE Bulba) who can figure it out.
6) The Split Sword of Swanstantine
Tumblr media
What is it?: a sword
What does it do?: channels inner strength of the user
(FOWL didn’t care about it so I won’t either, they wanted a feather (dna) from one of the ducks, The only other point I will make on this is that the only people to have had physical contact with FOWL agenesis in this ep was Huey and Scrooge, so the feather is most likely one of theirs)
7) The Papyrus of Binding
Tumblr media
What is it? a papyrus/ parchment
what does it do? It grants the statement written on it. It is dangerously literal and must be worded carefully.
at the moment it is lost and can only be found by an heir of Mcduck
8) the Blessed Bagpipes of Clan Mcduck
Tumblr media
What is it? Bagpipes
what does it do? It brings life into things that don’t have life (eg. sculptures) that is done by playing it.
Ok now that the list is done lets see what we got...
most of these are magical items expect maybe the Solego Circuit, but it seemed to of had a magical origin at least.
they are for:
the truth, wishes (limited by gene), intelligences and wisdom, Youth / youth stealing, interdimensional travel/ collection, reality warping and life giving.
So why these Items? why these powers? and how does it tie into what Fenton and Gandra dee have made?
I am just going to guess what the items will be used for
The herp- integrations, asking if something will work (like say on the papyrus), making sure things are running smoothly
The 3d eye Dimond- boosting the intelligence of Fowl agents, attach it to the  Solego Circuit, to make it better,
Gene the Genie- to be used as a redo button if somethings does go wrong (like how Donald undid his last wish), to get the Papyrus (wishing the heir to find it, making something lose its magic (idk tho)
The fountain of Youth- to take the youth of their enemies and give to it themselves, to make the artefacts young or old (does it work on objects?)
Solego Circuit- to bring things and people from other dimensions, like an heir of Mcduck?  bring in objects in like other artefacts or agents
The Papyrus of Binding- to change their reality to be under Fowls control, to get rid of scrooge, to make sure that anyone how tries to stop them fail.
the Blessed Bagpipes of Clan Mcduck- to trap people in their homes, to have eyes and ears on every single corner of the world, to bring someone back to life (can it revive people?)
but honestly IDK I just wanted to lay down were we are all at.

A family feud!
Tumblr media
This episode begins with Scrooge, the nephews, and Webby making another trip to Castle McDuck to meet Scrooge's parents. How are they able to visit this castle with that mist that only disappears every five years, as explained in the last episode that featured Scrooge's parents? Apparently, there's a fritz in the castle's mist, and Fergus, Scrooge's father, immediately blames Scrooge for giving them a lemon. As Webby narrates this clenched-teeth meeting of father and son into her tape recorder, Downy, Scrooge's mother, goes up and hugs the two.
Downy McDuck: Oh, let's just be thankful for this unexpected family visit! Group hug! (hugs Scrooge and Fergus, not really accepting of this)
Just in time for Thanksgiving weekend! Okay, it's not really a Thanksgiving special and it may be just a coincidence as there's no proof of Disney swapping the intended order of episodes this time, but it is an episode where someone is thankful for a family gathering that will involve some food; I've seen flimsier excuses to air episodes at certain times. Webby isn't the only one happy to see Scrooge's family again, as Huey, Dewey, and Louie are after yet another artifact: the Blessed Bagpipes of Clan McDuck. Yes, it's not just one of Scrooge's catchphrases, it's also an ancient artifact that was foretold to Huey by a druid somewhere between Mount Neverrest and that place where the Terrafirmians went after that one episode.
Tumblr media
No, just kidding, it's yet another artifact in that journal that seems to be used to make filler episodes to feel more important. This is not to say this episode isn't necessary. These Blessed Bagpipes have a bit more potential than, say, the Sword of Swanstentine: the bagpipes are told to be able to bring life to the lifeless. Louie doesn't interpret this as zombies, but instead just hears is that this is a rare and potentially expensive artifact, and since they already dealt with this castle's traps before, it should be easy to get! As for Dewey, he's going to be important later.
Scrooge isn't really here for Thanksgiving or the bagpipes, though, he's here essentially as a magic castle repairman. Using his cane, he pokes the druid stones that usually power that mist that keeps his parents out of his sight, and he comes to the conclusion that it seems like the magic was sucked out of it. Even if we didn't see the cause right before the opening, which we do, this is a good enough hint to what could have possibly happened. Fergus doesn't believe him, and Scrooge replies with him asking why he even asked him to do this instead of getting one of his other children to do the dirty work. Short answer: he tried.
Tumblr media
Meet Matilda McDuck, the youngest sister of Scrooge, who likes to start random businesses like emu farms. The very sight of a new McDuck neither she nor the audience has seen regresses Webby back to her Season 1 "McDuck fangirl" persona. Why wouldn't she still have that? Most of all, to her, there's no such thing as sibling rivalry in Clan McDuck, as McDucks always stay together! I'm assuming the sibling fights Huey Dewey and Louie sometimes get in are because they're merely Ducks.
McDucks, on the other hand, don't really do fights, as exemplified by Scrooge handing his sister a whole bill to invest in this empire of giant emu eggs. Wow, Scrooge must have been impressed: usually it's just a coin that's worth less than even if it was just one dollar! She immediately rejects the bill because she doesn't do family investments, unlike Scrooge and his Number One Dime. She then puts him in a headlock. Webby pays this no mind and talks about this sibling friendship, while Dewey just sits in the background and sarcastically says, "yeah, sure." No, being the stand-in for the audience isn't his important bit.
Tumblr media
Huey and Louie get into a sibling rivalry of their own, as Huey plans to do this epic adventure to get the bagpipes, with plenty of strategies that Louie calls, and trademarks after a long yawn, "boring nerd stuff". Louie, on the other hand, decides to do the "ask really loudly to the great-great grandma where the magic bagpipes are" approach, and Great Great Grandma Downy just tells them that bagpipe must be in the junk room, and she'll even show them where it is.
Louie's faces during these scenes are top-notch; there's a fine line between "off-model to the point where it's disturbing" and "off-model enough to be funny", and the scenes are more in the latter. We might even see it with Huey, who seems to be desperately trying to keep that inner Duke of Making A Mess in control.
Tumblr media
If one hasn't guessed yet, our villain of the week is none other than the Phantom Blot. We saw the Phantom Blot earlier in the episode, sucking up some castle magic with his magic-sucking gauntlet. He's joined by one of the Eggheads, a charismatic, overly happy sidekick named Pepper. The first time I watched this episode, I thought this was Matilda in a disguise, but then I noticed she didn't have those circles under her eyes. This is a totally different duck.
Blot didn't want any duck to be his partner, or any partner at all, but F.O.W.L. won't allow Missing Mystery taking alone. The Blot has his own vested interest in destroying anything magical, especially something as dangerous as a bagpipe that can turn something that's lifeless into living things. This is the second episode in a row where someone wants to take an artifact they feel is too dangerous, though it's done in a different way.
Tumblr media
Unknowing of any kind of evil, Webby, Scrooge, Dewey, and Webby are going on a tour through the castle. Webby stops at a room full of statues, including one statue of Danny McDuck that happens to be holding a bagpipe with symbols on it. Webby is completely enamored by all of this, but Dewey questions which one of their ancestors is invisible. Matilda explains that this space was left blank until a worthy McDuck can be immortalized in this room with a statue. Webby talks about an obvious candidate for such an immortalization: Scrooge McDuck!
Matilda laughs at this nomination, saying that it would be more fitting for someone who actually takes care of the castle, while Scrooge fights back by saying not only has be built this castle, but he built the castle that gave her and their parents immortality. This is where Webby's main conflict in the episode lies: she can't believe two McDucks can talk to each other like that, and, despite being told that sibling rivalry happens all the time by Dewey, she vows to fix this.
Tumblr media
Her first attempt at doing this? Let Scrooge look at an old family diary. This appears to work pretty well, as Scrooge is reminded of his first brother-sister mud pie business. Unfortunately for Webby's plan to let this feud end so early, one of the photos happens to be Whiskers, Scrooge's pet hairball, being around his sister, going against the story he was told that Whiskers ran away. Not only is Whiskers still around...
Tumblr media
...Whiskers had a new fur dying session, too! The emu eventually biting it ends up being the last straw, causing him and her to get into a sibling quibble. It's funny to see these people acting like children, even yelling out to their mom to tell on each other. It's not so funny to Webby, who thinks that she's going to break her beloved Clan McDuck, though Dewey insists this is normal. It's good that Webby isn't perfect, but one knows she's going the wrong way here.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, in the junk room their great great grandma led them to, they see a whole bunch of bagpipes stacked onto each other. Once again, we see Huey trying to think of a good strategy to find out which one is the real bagpipe, and Louie just runs up and jumps on the pile. This massive bagpipe blowing this not only causes does cause a mystical bow and arrow to break a canister of tiny green flying lightbug beings that exclaim their freedom, but it also proves that all of these bagpipes are just ordinary bagpipes. That mystical bow and arrow also causes Huey to drop the book near a cardboard box that Pepper and the Blot were hiding in. Must have learned that from some snake.
This scene with Pepper and the Phantom Blot does show us one thing: she may seem like an incompetent sidekick, and the Blot sure treats her like one as he didn't want a sidekick to begin with, but she knows a clue when she sees one. She takes a picture of it with her smartphone, and deduces that the symbols that were drawn on it represent different rooms of Castle McDuck. This begins a slow bit of character development for the Phantom Blot, who was merely just "I hate magic and everyone" before this.
Meanwhile, as Webby is watching the family aggressively eat their dinner, she comes up with a plan. She even ropes Dewey into this for his big, important moment. Dewey gets to show his best talent...
Tumblr media
...pretend he accidentally died while trying to make everyone happy by making two statues! See, it's a win-win situation for everyone: Matilda and Scrooge would believe they're both deserving of statues, and Scrooge basically confirms what Dewey always knew: that he was the favorite. Honestly, I'd say he's only saying that because he's supposedly dead, but don't tell Dewey that. By the way, Scrooge falls for this even though Scrooge did fake his death before in this series. I should also talk about how Webby would have to find a way to show that Dewey didn't actually die for potential future adventures, but she won't need to even think about that.
Huey and Louie end up in this room, too, and Dewey just couldn't resist telling them that Scrooge said he's the favorite. This leads to even more bickering amongst Clan McDuck. This ends up being a perfect distraction for the Phantom Blot and Pepper to sneak around the room, too. Webby doesn't notice those two, but she finally decides enough is enough, and outright calls out the family for their bickering, saying that it just isn't the Clan McDuck way. Scrooge decides to agree, and says Matilda is worthy of being the next Clan McDuck statue...
Tumblr media
...because he's no longer going to be a member of Clan McDuck! This part feels like it should be in the trailers as a misleading line, as anyone would guess this would eventually be reversed, but even I'm not so sure if it was in the end. It really goes to show that Webby pretty much did what she feared she was going to do. It's going to take a miracle to fix up this family, and it has to be something blessed.
Remember that Danny McDuck statue with the bagpipe? Turns out, that's where the bagpipe was hiding all this time. Unfortunately, it wasn't any of the Ducks or McDucks that figured this out first, but it was Pepper. Admittedly, she had to smash through the bagpipe of the statue to find it, and I'm sure even with their bickering, degrading one of the statues would be a huge faux pas. The good news is that, while she may be able to figure out a mystery, she's still somewhat of a klutz, as she drops the bagpipe. Not only does this finally reveal the sinister villains behind what caused that fritz in the mist, we get to see that ability to give life to the lifeless that was foretold by that book.
Tumblr media
No, not zombies, but the bagpipes give life to the lifeless statues! It seems like this episode was going to go to a rather predictable ending, showing the now separated family that Webby was right all along, and that Clan McDuck is all about being together. Just let those statues show what being a family is all about. This could very well be, but the bagpipes gave them the vocal cords of the people they're based on, too.
Tumblr media
They immediately start fighting, starting with who stole the bagpipe, and Webby lets out an "oh, come on!". Not only does this lead to a big statue fight, this leads to a bunch of other fights. The statues are fighting, Clan McDuck are fighting, and even Huey, Dewey, and Louie are fighting. The last one seems a little tacked on, but it does add a little more power to the scene where Webby talks into her tape recorder about how, in her quest to strengthen Clan McDuck, she managed to ruin it. Even if I wasn't as big of a fan of Webby's antics in this episode, as I think she should absolutely know what she was trying to fix in the beginning was normal, it's still a powerful scene.
There's also a scene where The Phantom Blot and Pepper, hide behind a pillar, and Blot uses this opportunity to scold Pepper on nearly ruining the entire mission. It's nice to see the Phantom Blot actually getting a little development here.
Tumblr media
Of course, in the end, they do make up. A lot of this is due to the situation that surrounds them, and Scrooge even uses that to get those ancestor statues to finally stop fighting and get these F.O.W.L. agents out of their hair. Because, and I'm sure people will see this line coming a mile away...
Agnes McDuck (the one in the royal dress): Nobody fights our family but US!
Heh, get it, because all they've been doing before this is bicker. Nonetheless, it's still a good lesson, and it's good to see Webby still learn lessons from Clan McDuck that she wouldn't have learned anywhere else. In the end, the villains get defeated, and the family does find some way to get together and do something, even if it is as simple as cleaning up the mess everyone did. Happy Thanksgiving...kind of.
How does it stack up?
Matilda is entertaining, and while I feel Webby is the weak point of the episode, her actions do lead to a good lesson in the end. Four Scrooges.

Team Up! - From Spy Partners to Family
Tumblr media
So I know I posted this picture a couple of weeks ago, but that was then and this is now. Not only do I have a better screenshot now, but today is the 1-year anniversary of “From the Confidential Casefiles of Agent 22!” (my favorite non-scroldie episode) and to celebrate, I wanted to get some fluffy thoughts/analysis about these two (and specifically this moment) in this episode out into the world, because dangit, just look how adorable they are.
Like honestly, I love the above moment so, so much. It’s a split-second, “blink and you’ll miss it” shot when Scrooge catches Webby during her free-fall, but I’m so glad they included it. To me, it’s the moment of transition from spy partners (which Scrooge declared them as just a minute or two before) to uncle-and-niece.
For Webby, she’s been watching Scrooge warm up to her over the course of the episode thus far, getting to know her and letting her in on this adventure. He has to talk her down for a second to let Black Heron underestimate her and get the message about the juice through to her, but after that? He’s so flipping’ proud of her and declares her as his new partner right in the middle of a dangerous situation.
And that’s great! We see her look rather proud and determined right after he says it:

The thing is though, is that from after Scrooge says as much to the point that he catches Webby mid-air, it’s just all talk from Webby’s POV (and not necessarily in a bad way, just a very literal way based on what’s going on). She unties him and he says he’s gonna rescue Beakley while she goes after Black Heron. And that’s what happens: Webby chases after Heron, but Scrooge doesn’t get Beakley until after the other two are up on the roof. So right now, Scrooge has just been all talk towards Webby, and while she wouldn’t doubt his word usually, he did just call her “Vanderduck,” not “Vanderquack.” Although she’s preoccupied with Heron, she might be thinking in the back of her mind that, perhaps Scrooge was just talking in the heat of the moment about her being his new partner. That after this mission, they’ll go home to Duckburg and the moment will fade away with time, woven in as a small detail in another adventure...
But then he catches her and saves her life. That, right there, is action. And that’s what we see on Webby’s face in the top pic: the realization of oh, hey! He really means it! That’s when it sinks in that Scrooge McDuck, the man she’s idolized and researched her whole life, just declared her to be his new spy partner. She’s surprised but so overjoyed - this is her true reaction to it, now that she’s realized it’s real.
A quick side thing regarding Webby idolizing Scrooge, and another one of my favorite moments from the episode:
Tumblr media
This right here hurts. Webby knows that she might very well die at any second if Heron doesn’t get the info she wants. So who does she want to look at as quite possibly the last person she’ll ever see? Scrooge.
Not only that, but I like to think that she draws some courage from looking at him, and that’s what propels her to tell her grandmother, “Don’t do it!” as her final act to save the mission.
Anyway...
For Scrooge, he’s been learning so much about Webby during the episode, and continually watches her shatter his expectations. She’s an intriguing, exciting, daring little girl that’s been living right under his beak her whole life, and yet he’s just now really getting to know her. And bless his bagpipes, does he wish he’d done that sooner. He can’t help but love her once he gives her a chance. No one can, and whether they expect it or not, it happens fast.
So when it gets to Scrooge declaring Webby as his new partner, he wholeheartedly 100% means it right then. She’s more than earned it - Beakley trained her herself, and she’s such a smart, knowledgeable, and competent kid. And while he still has so much to learn about her, one thing he knows already is that she has backflipped right into his heart without him realizing it. After all, he does tell Beakley, “Your granddaughter is full of surprises.”
And so when he saves her from falling, we see Scrooge with a fierce look of pride and determination. One that says, I got ye, lass. And boy, does he ever. He’s already internally accepted her as his partner, and he’s extremely proud of her for defeating Black Heron. But this is the moment when he realizes that Webby is family, that he wants her to be his niece, and by god, he’s so determined to make sure she knows it, however he can.
For Webby, she’s his partner now, but for Scrooge, she’s a McDuck.
Enter the last scene.
Webby expresses her excitement over being part of an Agent 22-McDuck spy adventure, and then says, “Thank you, Mr. McDuck.” And that’s it. That’s when it all comes together and Scrooge finds his chance to let her know the conclusion he’s reached in his heart.
“Call me Uncle Scrooge.”
“I’m Webby.”
Tumblr media
And this whole shot right here is the absolute sweetest thing. Webby’s not just the “unofficial ‘fourth nephew’” (or not anymore, anyway), as one of the DuckTales’ comics’ alternate covers says. She’s Scrooge’s niece, plain and simple, blood ties be damned.
But what’s even more about this moment, is the whole found-family picture here. For so long, it’s just been Scrooge, Beakley, and Webby in McDuck Manor. Beakley and Scrooge are best friends from their spy days, and that still holds true, but ever since the Spear of Selene incident (and whatever caused Beakley to go into hiding), it seems that wall of boss-housekeeper/bodyguard was raised, and Webby was very much ignored by Scrooge.
So this frame at the end of the episode? I think it acknowledges those years of separation within the mansion for all three of them. For a moment, there are no nephews or great-nephews. Heck, it’s not just Webby becoming a McDuck. You can see it in Beakley’s face, how she’s not just happy for Webby, but for Scrooge and herself as well: they’re their own little family, the McDuck-Beakley-Vanderquack clan. A found family of spies and partners, of two best friends and her granddaughter, his niece.
What a team-up.

Hi! May I have some prompts for Webby please?
for sure !
one day I'm gonna see the world! I'm going to be an explorer, I'm gonna eat a hamburger !!: webby spent most of her life behind the walls of McDuck manor. granny was always protective of her which meant she never rarely saw the outside world. what was her time like in the manor before the triplets ? when did her love of adventure spawn? what was life like once huey, dewey and louie entered it ? what is does her life look like now that there's adventure ?
Bless me bagpipes !: on one of their final missions before coming to elias webby discovered Scrooge McDuck is her father, meaning, a good chunk of her life has been shrouded in secrecy. how did webby feel hearing this ? how does she feel about scrooge now ? how does this revelation change things ?
I broke clan McDuck !: in the midst of the bombshell, louie was injured due to Scrooge's selfish actions to save an artifact over his great-nephew. what is life for webby like after the accident ? how is her relationship with the boys now that they've decided to stick together ? what does she expect from elias ? is she scared ? happy ? does she know about the danger that awaits ?
