Ch195 (p2), The story Doll tells

She does say that "Father's" manor burns down and that she couldn't save anyone inside. But when it come to our earl and Sebastian, she envisions them but doesn't actually mention them, let alone say what they said or did.

Then she skips her death altogether and says that she returned to the circus for a while, but that they couldn't last much longer, now that most of the major talent was gone. Then she wandered around London and Bath and somehow ended up doing menial work and taking care of kids at this orphanage in Norfolk.

This suggests that she died, Undertaker turned her into a bizarre doll, she was at Sphere Music Hall (as we could now assume anyway), but then she was also at the unopened/closed spa in Bath with Blavat, Violet, and the renal patients that Blavat drained to death. That part is interesting and makes me wonder if they were all there. Sebastian wouldn't notice Undertaker unless he wanted to be noticed, and Sebastian cannot detect bizarre dolls that are hiding because they are soulless.

That would suggest that Undertaker knows Sebastian and our earl took Violet to a hospital, as well as the fact Othello and Grelle showed up (since they didn't hide and actually spoke with our earl and Sebastian). However, Undertaker does act a bit surprised at seeing Othello. Then again, that could be merely an act.

Do you think Blavat really knows that Sebastian isn't human or did UT tell him?

I don't believe that he really has the power to tell if Sebastian isn't human, even going as far as pointing out (rather accurately too) his nature as a Collapser. Unless he himself wasn't human, but then Sebastian would should have noticed that.

I think he's been involved in UT's project for a long time and he's aware of the supernaturals (unlike a certain doctor). But he doesn't have a 'real power', so to speak.

And I don't know how he (and the others) could distinguish the different blood types. UT might have used his magic to stuff souls into the Dolls, but I don't think he can tell someone's blood type. At the time, blood types were not discovered yet (ABO blood type was discovered in 1901).

Ch 199: Undertaker as Sebastian’s Foil

Back in Ch 111, Blavat surprises Sebastian by telling him he isn’t human and that he’s a black hole (collapsar) that will devour Ciel, shaking them both to their core. And we got this amazing panel:

Now, in Ch 199, Finny tells the four clones that Undertaker is collecting a lot of human blood, and he can say with certainty that he is “a bad man.” The art parallels Sebastian’s; they’re even mirror images in a sense:

Now, I’ve long seen Undertaker and Sebastian as narrative foils, and this is just further confirmation in my mind.

In case you don’t know what that means, this is a concise definition ala Wikipedia:

The fact that Sirius is a twin star comes again into play. The twins. The foils. The dual snakes on the brand. The way Layla seemed to be “two souls/records” in one body…. The number two certainly seems to be important.

Now that the four clones know what is really going on (sort of), it’s possible they may be willing to help. But the title/subtitle of the chapter seems to imply that they may not be able to escape their fates.

-Who do you think the Viscount would be swapped with?

The only character I didn't feel bad for swapping with Viscount. It's not that I hate Blavat, he's just a character I don't think about nor really care about, so I chose him just cause of that, otherwise Viscount would've stayed Viscount (because I would've felt bad for any other character) Also, since I've swapped family relatives as well, slight spoiler alert, Violet and Redmond are swapped, which makes Blavat and Violet uncle and nephew.

Wait, when did we decide that Blavat knew about the Universal donor and recipient? Wouldn't that have taken away all the urgency about getting blood for RCiel--or am I getting Polaris and Sirius confused again...I know I have done that from time to time.

Who knows how the blood typing really works?

Ch124 has Blavat explain to the "Sirius" renal failure patient that he's never received any blood from "Sirius" donors. It's all been from the "leftovers", meaning Vega and Polaris, since Canopus has always also been too scarce.

This means that Blavat must realize Sirius can accept (whole) blood from any of the donors, or at least he realizes Vega and Polaris blood are acceptable. Otherwise, this guy would already have died... horribly... from rejection of the transfused blood. But, if Blavat knows this, why is real Ciel not using whatever blood he can get?

Similarly, Ada must have somehow figured out (or been informed) that Canopus can accept from Canopus and Vega. Because Baldo seems to be getting blood from Lau (Canopus) and Conny (Vega). Others are also donating, and I have to assume they are also either Canopus (rare) or Vega (common).

In the Kuroverse, Sirius is AB, the universal recipient for whole blood... and Vega is O, the universal whole blood donor.

It gets flipped around for plasma donations in the real world, and we also have to consider Rh-factor, but this whole ABO blood typing thing seems to have been simplified for the story. In reality, there are even people who fall outside the ABO system.

What I want to know is whether the lords of the stars are aware of this fact... and whether Undertaker knows. Because -- and I've blogged about it many times -- this whole time real Ciel has been able to accept absolutely all of the blood donations (keeping the ABO system simple, no Rh-factor). The one that should be "starving" is Vega... but only if they use the blood the way the system truly works.

If real Ciel and the other lords know, then there might be some sort of elitism going on here, particularly with real Ciel. Like... he refuses to accept any other blood type because he thinks it's inherently not good enough for him. Or maybe Undertaker is under that false impression. Or Druitt, if he's involved, since he does have that medical license that's otherwise gathering dust.

I wonder what Sieglinde has now figured out regarding the ABO -- or Polaris-Canopus-Vega -- blood typing system. Will there later be a scene where real Ciel complains of not enough blood, and someone pipes up to say he could have transfused any of it? This whole time. And he's just in shock about that.

It's entirely possible that Blavat doesn't care about these renal patients so much that he gave Sirius renal failure patients Vega and Polaris blood, not knowing they would be okay. Basically, Blavat might have stumbled upon the truth... and never reported his findings to Undertaker or real Ciel. 🤔

Okay sooo I remembered from watching a tiktok edit, how Blavat, the zodiac guy (that's how I have named him in my mind lol), quickly figured out that Sebastian isn't human from just looking at him.

I got a lil hypothesis that Blavat may have done it from a gut feeling kinda......let me explain.

Sooo we know that Sebastian's form is perfect in a sense that any person that looks at him or has an interaction with him, they won't think that, mmm yeahhh he is strangeeee no way he is human. Besides, he has based his looks off Vincent Phantomhive, who is human.

Nowww there might be a very slim possibility that Undertaker may have mentioned Sebastian but Undertaker didn't trust Blavat and Blavat didn't really care ab what Undertaker was doing so yeahhh.

My hypothesis is that Blavat, who has met a lottt of people in his life, might have experienced the uncanny valley with Sebastian. I don't really have anything to back this theory of mine, other than Blavat needed only to take one look of Sebastian to realize that he isn't human.

This is kinda of a silly theory so don't be afraid to tell me your thoughts :333

We lost Jerry Blavat in 2023. The “Geator with the Heater” was a Philly legend. Jerry was a dancer on Bandstand for a short time before being tapped to host his own Discophonic Scene televised dance show.

Unlike the Dick Clark version of Bandstand, Blavat’s dances and TV shows were integrated; Jerry wanted the best dancers regardless of skin color.

He was a Philadelphia native, Blavat’s father was what used to be called a potato chip gangster, a small time bookie; Blavat himself had a…congenial relationship with some of the old crew like Angelo Bruno.

Jerry bought his own radio time and was truly beyond payola- he played what he wanted to play. He was not for sale.

He was a character in the best sense of the word, always with a warm hello and a nonstop delivery.

Philadelphia is poorer without Jerry Blavat.

2nd day: spiders

I myself don't really like spiders. Often times little ones can be fine by me but if they come in large amounts it makes me panic.

In this case, spiders represent the issues that started to appear for blavat after o!ciel started to investigate the music hall. But despite more and more crawling up his skin, he remained calm. Atleast outwards

(the three little spiders on his neck are representation for o!ciel and sebastian, scotland yard and the growing shortage of the sirius blood type)
