the city I live in had to take down a big old tree on public property down the street from where I live but before they did it they stapled a sign to it giving the reason (tree was dead and rotting and was a threat to the road and power lines) and then included contact info for objections to removing it to be brought before the city and idk I know it’s not much but I just think that’s….nice. like a nice acknowledgment that people have connections to plants and particularly big old trees around where they live and should at least be able to be like Please Do Not Cut Down This Big Old Tree For A Parking Lot Or Something. their reasoning for this one was super valid and they did indeed remove the tree earlier this week but quite frankly I was just like. surprised to (at least in theory) be able to have a say in it at all lmao

#I didn’t realize until I saw it when the sign went up that I’m just used to the cutting down of big old trees like they’re objects. you kno #like. man #idk if they put this on all trees they take down or just the ones in high traffic neighborhoods #but it makes me think like. Could you imagine if you had to do this whenever you cut down a tree for a new development or smth #and therefore the larger the land purchased for a new Walmart the more individual trees they would have to do paperwork for #to the extent that the hassle of fielding the trees in public record would outweigh the hassle of like. buying already developed land #and reusing it #? #also. the ability to enter objections for every tree to cause further problems lmao

I bought a chest freezer recently so I can finally indulge my grandma instincts of Make An Unreasonable Amount Of Food For Not Much Money And Eat Of It For Months

Today I bought two rotisserie chickens and made SIX large chicken pot pies (9" pie tins), used the leftover carcasses and have chicken stock going in the slow cooker, with enough leftover chicken meat and veg to make chicken rice soup tomorrow for DnD and probably have quite a bit to freeze as well.

#totaled up everything cost abt $35-40 #including the foil pie tins because i did NOT have that many glass ones #which? for that much GOOD food? im quite proud #coulda done it for less if i hadnt used instant mashed potatoes but it saved enough hassle to be worth it #my family always made pot pie to use up leftovers from a Big Chicken Dinner #bottom 'crust' was mashed potatoes #middle filling was chicken bits and whatever veg we had mixed into the gravy #one crust on top #mom ALWAYS made her crusts by hand #but i decided to just use store bought ones #ive missed pot pie #but my teeny tiny freezers have never allowed for it really #because its most efficient when done in a Fuckoff Huge Batch #and my tiny amount of freezer and fridge space never made it worthwhile before

I've finally started using spotify instead of just using the youtube app on my phone for music (I refuse to ever pay for Youtube Red on account of them buying out and shutting down the music app I used to use) and What Do You Mean it will play music with your screen off even if you don't pay? Why the fuck would anyone pay for Youtube Red if Spotify does this for free? I don't understand business or capitalism at all why does anyone get away with anything we should be killing people with hammers

My brain keeps referring to them as twins even tho I know that's not technically the case but like. They have the spirit of twins so I'm just gonna listen to my brain's instinctive response to seeing them on screen lmao

I'm pretty sure all the siblings in TOH kind of have that closeness dynamic. Like, looking at young Lilith and Eda and how they interact in Them's the Breaks, they give off that vibe that twins usually have in media rather than an older and younger sibling. Actually, were they in the same grade? Lilith is 2 years older than Eda but they were trying out for the EC at the same time. Anyway–

TT Luz and Hunter are neat in that they're usually in-sync and total besties most of the time because of their co-dependency, but when they don't agree it's usually Hunter's word that comes out on top, which hits me as a more traditional "older watching over the younger" trait than a "twin" one. Like, back when Luz first made the deal with Eda and Hunter was hesitant in agreeing, Luz probably wouldn't have gone through with it if he said she couldn't. It all stems from Belos's whole... thing, which is gonna be VERY apparent in literally the next two updates.
