its been noted before but wrt recent events it’s very funny how western journalists have a habit of trying to egg politicians into supporting war and escalation - because it lets them feel like they’re Speaking Truth To Power and catching politicians out, while also still completely following and reinforcing western policy and ideology

‘why won’t you start a nuclear war, mister president, children could die!’ lets you simultaneously be a media maverick and never actually hold any politically-radical positions
