Come Back When You Can Make A Whale
This is going to contain some speculation for S3, so you know what to do! Or not do!
Tumblr media
SITIS: What did God say? JOB: Um... I'm not sure. I didn't understand much. Things too wonderful for me. Ostriches came into it. SITIS: Ostriches? JOB: And whales. God's very proud of the whale. Went into some detail about... how great whales are. SITIS: But did They explain? JOB: [shakes head] I think the point was, if you want answers, come back when you can make a whale.
Whales, huh?
If you aren't well read, this could be quite the misdirection. It should be reasonably obvious, given who is doing the talking - Job - what he is actually referring to, then we can join a couple of dots to make some speculative leaps.
You still with me?
No? Then let us start with how do you make a whale?
By giving it another name.
Tumblr media
Leviathan.
Chapter 41 of the Book of Job is all about the Leviathan, a great sinuous sea serpent with impenetrable scales and breath like fire. It sleeps beneath the sea until the end of days. Over time it came to be associated with any sea monster, then anything large, and what is the largest animal ever known to have lived? The whale.
The top of the matchbox is also worth a look. We have a skull and crossbones, which is classic Memento mori symbolism, fitting in with the resurrection theme of the Second Coming - but look at the way the address of the pub is spelt! Now, this not the same way it is spelt on the record single Maggie gives to Aziraphale; Goatgate is spelt as one word, not two. A little bit of searching reveals the meaning behind this fictional address that backs up and reinforces the quote on the side of the matchbox.
Tumblr media
Strong's Concordance for 66 gives us "wild, savage, fierce." Goatgate is an interesting one, because it turns out to be a relatively modern term from the urban dictionary, and I'm just going to refer to the polite version of it here - it's another word for "mouth." So 66 Goatgate is a "fierce and savage mouth." Yes, that does sound about right - in more ways than one, once you know who it is. (If you want to look up the impolite version, go ahead - I'm sure you will still find the connotations very amusing.)
Our metaphorical Leviathan is Crowley. He gave the game away at the end of S1 during the appearance-swap.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This also means Aziraphale is his counterpart, Behemoth. Why - well, I made a bit of joke in my post here that he was playing at being a "river horse" while he wallowed in the bath of holy water during his part of the appearance-swap scene. Modern day scholars think the description of Behemoth in the Bible may be that of a hippopotamus in real life history. If that is so, I'd still be betting this is what the "dark horse" comment from Nina in S2E1 is foreshadowing.
Tumblr media
Maybe none of this new to you if you've been hanging around the the fandom for a while. That's fine, I'm just trying to establish the scene. And the next bit we need to talk about is this one, where Job gets a lecture from God.
Tumblr media
During this sequence, we hear lines that come from Job 38 and 39.
GOD: Job, if you have questions for me, I have questions for you. Do you know how I created the earth? Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth, Job? Were you there when all the morning stars sang together and all the Angels shouted for joy?
These lines are paraphrasing some of the beginning of Job 38.
Then we have:
GOD: Do you know the rules of the heavens? Did you set the constellations in the sky? Can you send lightning bolts and get them to report back to you? Did you give wings to peacocks, Job, or teach the ostrich to run?
These lines are again, paraphrasing Job, half from 38 and half from 39.
So then, we need to ask, why highlight these lines in particular?
Job 38 is mainly about setting the boundaries of the universe around us. The Earth might seem impossibly huge to a human, but it started with a single stone at its foundation. Earth and the other planets obey certain laws as they move around the Sun. The patterns of the stars in the sky take so long to change that it seems like they are set and inconstant. Even the chaotic form of lightning respects its Creator and returns to its point of origin.
From the last part of Chapter 38 to the end of 39 God challenges Job with a list of animals. The theme here is about freedom and wildness. Whether it is a noble lion, a loathsome crow, a nimble mountain goat, the head-strong wild ox or the willing war horse, they all flourish upon the Earth under the sight of the Almighty. Even the mightiest and most fierce beasts of all, Behemoth and Leviathan, have a place, although only God has the means to control those two.
None of this needs a human to be involved. We are so often the center of our own universe, and try so hard to control every aspect of the world around us that we lose sight of the bigger picture. Shit happens. Some things are out of our control. That doesn't mean its your fault and you're wicked and damned to go to Hell because of it. And that was the point God was trying to make to Job. The world is a far bigger, wilder and chaotic than you can imagine, but its also incredibly beautiful, and it runs itself within the rules and limits that seem to be set by invisible forces you can't see.
Tumblr media
So back to the script from the show.
The first set of questions from God could apply to both of the duo. They were both around when Earth was created and were more than likely there when the "morning stars" (the highest angels, such as Lucifer, Gabriel, Michael and angel!Beelzebub) sang together.
The second set of questions are the ones that seem to have got the most attention so far, with ops cross-matching them to things Crowley does in S2.
Do you know the rules of the heavens?
Tumblr media
Did you set the constellations in the sky?
Tumblr media
Can you send lightning bolts and get them to report back to you?
Tumblr media
Did you give wings to peacocks, Job...
(I make a suggestion this has something to do with Michael, but also see comments below)
Tumblr media
...or teach the ostrich to run?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first three of those questions are fairly straight forward, and I doubt many would dispute what they are referring to. But the reference to the peacock and the ostrich are more subtle and curious, and I would like to take a moment to look at the actual verse - because it is only one verse that is providing both questions - that is being paraphrased here.
Job 39:13 Gavest thou the goodly wings unto the peacocks? or wings and feathers unto the ostrich?
Did you realize that the King James Version of the Bible is the only one that mentions peacocks in this particular verse? All the other versions mentions the first sentence of that verse in relation to the wings of ostriches: "The wings of the ostrich wave proudly." The ostrich is considered a cruel and witless bird in the Bible, pleased with the way it looks, and seemingly careless about its young.
Why does that sound familiar...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shax thinks this ostrich feather-clad angel in disguise isn't too smart either.
So using the peacock line is a curious choice in the script. Other than the "eyes" in the tail of the peacock having a connection to Michael's many watchful eyes on the world, it's still not clear how Crowley helped them upwards. Unless both lines are supposed to refer to Gabriel, and how the vain peacock was helped to both fly and run to a distant location in the stars.
Edit: Since I first wrote this, @beebopboom pointed me to some more peacock lore, and this helped me delve a bit deeper into them. Peacocks were associated with wealth and royalty, but they were also associated with immortality in early Christian beliefs. There was a belief that the flesh of the peacock did not decay after its death. The bright colours in its tail came from its eating venomous snakes, which reminded people of Christ becoming sin for humanity's sake (think of Crowley downing the laudanum to save Elspeth from Hell in the crypt in 1827, its a similar action.) The "eyes" on the males tail also represented the all-seeing eye of God. So we have a connection with both royalty and resurrection here.
(Oh - just as an interesting connection here - a number of the newer versions of the Bible not only don't mention the peacock in this verse, they compare the ostrich to the stork! The meaning is meant to be that the stork cares more for their young than the ostrich, but if you read the words at face value, you could take a double meaning away...)
Tumblr media
Let us return to questions, answers, and whales.
Tumblr media
Questions. Always questions. It's like the proverbial toddler who's always asking a never-ending string of "but, why?" for funsies and you just want them to shut up for a moment and think about the last thing you said first. They, too, are a bit like Job. They are the center of their own universe at that age, having not had much experience of the world. They have no grasp of how far it extends beyond them, and how little even we as adults know.
Tumblr media
If at this point you're going "oh, no, no, no, no, op, please don't tell me the point of this meta is it's all ineffable," relax. I'm not.
The point was to set you up for some nice, juicy, awesomely sweet S3 speculation.
Because I believe Crowley will finally get to ask his questions of God.
Tumblr media
(oh lordy, I made the mistake of taking a break to have a shower before trying to finish this off, because I was having trouble seeing how to finish this in a tidy way, and that caused me to have "shower thoughts" and now the nice sweet simple speculation has turned into a slightly bat-shit crazy kind-of one, although still on the same track as what I was originally thinking. Here goes...)
Tumblr media
We have this three card spread from waaay back at the beginning of S1. We all think its something to do with the three babies.
What if its not?
Because we need something like this to happen again - Aziraphale and Crowley either side of a third protagonist. What if it's the King of Kings, Love personified, Jesus, in the middle? (Or Adam again, I wouldn't discount that option either...)
Tumblr media
If you would look at the GIF and the screenshot together again and go, well that makes, sense, white for the angel on the right, and green for the demon on the left, I would jump up and shout at you - NO!
Look at the cards again! In the Tarot, that's the Ace of Swords on the right - it belongs to Aziraphale. It's a very powerful card, about new beginnings and change.* Lets call the one of the left Knight of Wands, which also represents the element of Fire. Knights are all about movement and journeys. Who owns the Bentley? And look what Gabriel has instinctively done with his hands - he has held his screen-left hand out to Aziraphale, the Sword, the angel who wears green, and his right hand out to Crowley, the Knight of Fire. The yin and yang qualities are actually swapped. That was what I was trying to tell you in this post. They aren't as obvious as they seem at first glance.
And love is the answer, it turns out. Did you see my comment the other day on another post? In Strong's Concordance 25 = to love.
Anyway, we should get a third parallel scene somewhat like this, and like when Aziraphale and Crowley took Adam out of time to talk to him in S1.
Only this time the three of them (with who ever is in the middle) should be having a talk with God about what is or isn't supposed to happen.
JOB: I think the point was, if you want answers, come back when you can make a whale.
Crowley could be a literal serpent (though I would be very surprised if he did manifest that way) but it should be a metaphorical Leviathan that stands before the Almighty to ask his questions and get his answers. And it will be that he has earned the right to be there, because he finally understands the lessons of Job.
@makewayforbigcrossducks I hope this answers one of your questions
*The Ace of Swords speaks of new beginnings, but it is a two-edged sword that can cut both ways. It is strength in adversity, victory out of struggle, good out of evil, a change in the old order on the way.

Something Dark or Death
So there is that scene in episode 5 where Crowley says to Nina:
"Give me coffee or give me death. Funny name for a coffee shop."
Tumblr media
It's a strange time in the series to mention that now.
So I did what I always do when it comes to Good Omens at the moment… I look at the timestamp of the episode, when a suspicious line is spoken, and search for a fitting Bible verse with that number.
Here it is at minute 22:10. And this is the Bible verse (Revelation 22:10):
"Then he told me, “Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this scroll, because the time is near."
It's from the Book of Revelation, you know, the prophecies of the last days before Christ’s return. The Second Coming.
So this sentence is important. I'm sure there is more to find and possible links to other metas. But for now, I want to focus on the funny name of the coffee shop.
Give me coffee or give me death. I say Neil loves words and their meanings. And Bible-related numbers.
So let's focus on the word "coffee". Why coffee? There could be any other shop, but without coffee, the hints that Neil wants to give us wouldn't work, I assume.
Coffee -from Arabic قَهْوَة‎ (qahwa, “coffee, a brew”) -The "coffee" sense is ultimately of disputed origin. (…), the original meaning could have been "dark stuff," related to Hebrew כָּהָה‎ (“dull, weak, dim”)
This post https://www.tumblr.com/gallup24/732418097410146304/the-clue-behind-them by @gallup24 introduced me to "The Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible" by James Strong. In short: it's a word index to the Bible. (It was used in season 1 for the room number of the hellhound = 2549, which is Strong's Number for "kakia" - meaning "wickedness", "evil").
According to Strong's Concordance, the Hebrew word כָּהָה (dark stuff) has the number 3543. You want to see what's going on at minute 35:43 of each episode in season 2?
Here you go:
Tumblr media
Episode 1 = BEELZEBUB: No, it exists. Extreme sanctions.
Tumblr media
Episode 2 = JOB: Our children are dead?
Tumblr media
Episode 3 = CROWLEY: Yes, whatever happened to him? AZIRAPHALE: He left Edinburgh in disgrace. And then he killed himself.
Tumblr media
Episode 4 = (The Nazi Zombies leave the backstage room. Also their last scene in this season.)
Tumblr media
Episode 5 = The sentence starts at 35:42 but the second half is on point with the word "humans".
CROWLEY: (I'm gonna get the) humans out of here and then I'm coming back.
(This scene is about saving the humans from death, because Shax was ready to "(..)hurt them indirectly. We can definitely hurt them whilst battling angels. They'd be civilian casualties.")
Tumblr media
Episode 6 = AZIRAPHALE: You brought me a coffee? METATRON: Are you going to take it?
And this.. reads to me as a death threat. I don't think Aziraphale had a choice.
Maybe he thought that by accepting the Metatron's coffee and his offer to come back to heaven, he could prevent the "give me death" part. But he gets both.
The coffee means death. And not taking the coffee also means death.
Nina should rename her shop to "Give me coffee AND give me death."

The Love Apple and Agape
More On The Apple Symbolism in TWDU
@wdway shared something really interesting with me after my post on apple symbolism yesterday. In my post, I talked primarily about the apple symbolism around TWD 10x13 and TOWL, which of course were all Richonne-centered episodes. But as we know, there's plenty of apple references on the show, some are heavily tied up with TD/Bethyl stuff and thangs.
I just wanted to share @wdway's discovery because there were connections there that I hadn't been aware of, and maybe others will find it interesting as well.
@wdway has been talking about how the French sometimes refer to the tomato as a "love apple", "pomme d'amour" for years, and she suggested that just as the Apple iPhone is synonymous with the apple symbolism in some cases, one could say that in other cases, tomatoes could also be synonymous with apple symbolism.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And for TD, this is particularly interesting in light of episodes 4x12 Still and 4x13 Alone, where we saw cans of tomato sause several times:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As we know, Beth and Daryl's time in the funeral home was paralleled with Sasha and Bob's budding romance, and they had the same type of tomato sauce can-on-strings symbolism around them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
One thing that was completely new to me was that the number "26", seen here feature prominently on the front porch of the funeral home, has some really intriguing connotations to it:
Tumblr media
@wdway had discovered years ago that the number "26" corresponds with the word "agape" in the Bible:
Tumblr media
Strong's concordance refers to an index over words in the original Greek and Hebrew languages in the Bible, and word number 26 is "agape", which means "love"...
Tumblr media
Do with that what you will...
...but I'm inclined to side-eye that HEAVILY! Beth and Daryl's shelter, literally marked with a number that means "love"...?
Keep in mind that while Daryl is arranging the can-on-string alarm system with the cans of tomato sauce, or should I say "love apple-sauce"...
...he gets a visit from the one-eyed dog, the "celestial being", the "heavenly beast with a star in its eye, as poet Robert Frost would have said:
Tumblr media
I've talked about how Sirius symbolism is resurrection symbolism in many posts, how it tells a story of reunion, resurrection and rebirth, and in yesterday's post I elaborated on how apple symbolism ties into the same themes of reunion, resurrection and rebirth. Keep that in mind as I remind you that the French call tomatoes "love apples".
So, we have cans of "love apple-sause", directly underneath a large number "26", which means "love" on Beth and Daryl's shelter for the night , and we have a Sirius dog that heralds reunion, resurrection and rebirth.
And, speaking of tomato sauce as "love apple-sauce"...
As @danaredbeard commented on my apple post from yesterday, Aaron actually brought apple sause when trying to recruit TF in 5x10 Them. We saw that in the episode after, when Rick forced him to eat it to prove it wasn't poisoned:
Tumblr media
Aaron wasn't personally a fan of apple sauce, but he "argeed" (under some pressure, but still...) to eat a spoon-full to demonstrate that it was safe for human consumption.
Aaron ultimately came with an offer of a new start for TF in Alexandria, a "rebirth"...
...and it came at a time when they needed it the most...
Aaron came with "good news", as though he was spreading the literal Gospel:
Tumblr media
And as every TD'er ever will remember, what happend next was a "resurrection” of sorts:
Tumblr media
The broken music box responded to Aaron's "good news" by spontaniously resurrecting...
There's actually one more thing, and interestingly, it ties into themes of "good news" and "Gospel":
Tumblr media
Yes, it turns out that the number "26" also represents the Hebrew word for God, "Yahweh".
Tumblr media
I didn't know any of this, so thanks @wdway for sharing. Hopefully someone else will also find it interesting.
@wdway also has thoughts on how the apple symbolism relates to the story about Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, and a certain apple there that caused quite a stir. We did see symbolism relating to that in TWDDD:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's probably a post for a different day, but I did touch on in in this post from last year.
Finally, I thought I'd add a little tidbit of my own, something I discovered some time ago, which actually does relate to all the canned tomato/love-apple sauce stuff.
Take a look at the can of tomato sauce/love apple-sause in this shot, right next to the wine bottle (cough *ethanol* cough):
Tumblr media
I'd say thats a number 10 can:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Could it be that these cans we see all the time in TWDU are convoluted references to the number 10?
Everyone who's been in TD for any length of time know how we obsess over the 10:10 Slabtown clock seen behind Beth and Dr. Edwards here:
Tumblr media
There are plenty of theories on what those numbers on that clock means, here's a recent theory of mine that touches on the subject (X).
Anybody's guess is as good as mine, but some obvious interpretations include 10 as in Roman Numeral X, which obviously is a cross, which obviously is resurrection symbolism. An "X" is also obviously an iteration of a cross such as the one found on the back of the Grady cars, which again ties the symbolism around crosses/X’s directly to Beth.
I also personally love the "X" as in the branding mark Daryl and Michonne suffered in season 9:
Tumblr media
Interestingly, in Daryl's case the X seen next to his already existing scars, forms Roman Numerals X II, which could be a foreshadow of episode 10x11 Morningstar. I've explained why that is interesting here, and I also touched on it here. Long story short, "Morningstar", among other things, refers to Revelation 22.16, in which Christ is called the Morning Star. So again, there's resurrection symbolism all over the place.
And while we're on the subject of Morning Stars, I have to mention the Sirius symbolism and the Venus symbolism we keep seeing, as Venus and Sirius are both referred to as Morningstars.
Also, the kind of branding Michonne and Daryl experienced, is technically a form of cauterization, which I discussed here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Read more about the cauterization and the symbolism around fire and how it relates to a "cure" here, here and here.
And for anyone looking forward to TWDDD season 2, it's reassuring to see that the apple symbolism is alive and well over in France as well:

The Ineffable Timeline of Season 2
Thursday on Whickber street & The Ball.
DO NOT ASK NEIL ABOUT FAN THEORY
Monday - Tuesday - Wednesday - Thursday - Friday
Continuing right on along with my chronological break down of the present day events on Whickber Street with Wednesday! Just as a reminder, the length of Crowley's sideburns will be highlighted at the end of scenes he's present in simply as Long or Short. I'm not speculating on what they mean but rather just tracking their journey!
Lets go girls!
Tumblr media
Thursday aka Episode 4 AND Episode 5 aka The Hitchhiker AND The Ball
Unknown time - We presume it is very early morning Thursday. Shax tricks Aziraphale as a hitchhiker and questions him in the Bentley as he drives back to Soho.
6:47 (Nina's phone) - Aziraphale arrives back to Soho after driving through the night. Nina has arrived to open the coffee shop. Crowley greets Aziraphale and they return his plants to the Bentley. There is a strange noise I would like to point out in this scene. There is a tinkley/shattering glass sound you hear once when Aziraphale gets out of the Bentley and once when he is talking to Crowley. When he hears it with Crowley, he turns his head to look for the sound. Long.
Aziraphale and Crowley both walk back towards the bookshop then later, we see Crowley pull up again in the Bentley so he must've left at some point and come back again.
We don't really have any timestamps for the rest of the episode until The Ball begins at 6:30. The following will track events in concordance with Crowleys sideburns.
Crowley asks if Aziraphale is going through with hosting the meeting. Short.
Asking Arnold at the music shop to come and offering the 1965 Dr Who annual. Long.
Back outside Crowley asks Aziraphale about giving away a book. They ask Mutt at the Magic Shop to come to the meeting, then Mrs. Cheng, and Justine. Short.
The plume de ma tante conversation happens, and Nina drops the love bomb on Crowley. He and Aziraphale have the Smitten conversation. Short.
Crowley threatens Jimbriel, and ultimately makes him a hot chocolate. Aziraphale is prepping for the ball and Aziraphale asks Crowley to make sure Nina and Maggie are on their way. We can assume we are nearly at about 6:30. The illustrated bible shows "By the Rivers of Babylon". Long.
6:30 (The Ball begins) - The Whickber Street ball begins and Crowley confronts the demons outside. He goes inside, and we can assume a few hours pass before the demons finally throw a brick through the window.
Let's assume the demons attack around 8 or 9 pm.
Crowley gets the humans out and has Muriel take him up to Heaven where they view Gabriel's trial. Long.
Maggie, Nina, and Aziraphale battle the demons, and ultimately, Aziraphale blows up his halo to stop the invasion.
-end episode, and thursday-
Does time pass normally in Heaven? Was Crowley really in Heaven playing angel bee for like 12 hours? How long were Aziraphale and Maggie and Nina fighting the demons before Aziraphale discorportated them? Then how long were they waiting afterwards for Crowley to return? It seems like either The Ball must have gone on much longer than expected or Crowley's time spent in Heaven lasted much longer than expected given when he and the Archangels arrive back to the bookshop, we begin our post with Friday.
Continue the timeline:
Monday - Tuesday - Wednesday - Thursday - Friday

“I know a young man who lives in the city of Monrovia in Liberia, West Africa. A few years ago, he was involved in a terrible accident. He fell off a truck going at high speed down a crowded road. When he hit the ground, he was struck in the head by another vehicle, and his scalp was peeled back by the force of the blow.
The emergency team at the hospital was convinced he would die in a matter of minutes. Nevertheless, they sewed his scalp back, cleaned him up as best they could, and placed him in a bed in a crowded room.
In the middle of the night, the young man regained consciousness. His relatives were sitting near his bed asleep. And in the corner stood two men in white. They glowed with a shining white brightness. They came over to his bed, and without waking his family, told him they were angels who had been given charge over him to guard him and to minister to his needs. They then left, but not before assuring him they would always be near–that he could count on their help.
To the astonishment of the hospital staff, the young man made a complete recovery and regained his full strength. Today he suffers no effects from the accident, and of course his faith in God has been greatly strengthened.
Before you conclude this young man was hallucinating, look up the word angel in a Bible concordance and do a short study on these beings. You might start with Hebrews 1:14: “Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?” (Hebrews 1:14)
By the way, have you considered that angels are watching over you right now?”
~ Leroy Eimes
See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.” – Exodus 23:20
For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. Psalm 91:11
The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them. Psalm 34:7
Bless the Lord, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, obeying the voice of his word! Psalm 103:20
Take heed that you do not despise one of My little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven. Matthew 18:10

The time of Jacob's (Daryl's/Israel's) trouble and Daniel's 70th week (Revelation) Part 2
Part 1 here
Tara at Oceanside comes across Rachel. Thanks again to @galadrieljones
Tumblr media
Because of her original connection, we know that Daryl is a representation of Jacob, who was tricked into marriage with Leah first, then seven years later married the love of his life, Rachel.
Well, here we get a representation of Daryl (Tara) and Rachel.
Tumblr media
They shadow the future and past through other characters, and Rachel is considerably younger than Tara, a representation of Daryl and Beth. Not that there's anything wrong with that, so don't @ me. 😆 😆
Jacob had the dream about the ladder to heaven, commonly called Jacob's ladder 🪜 in Beersheba.
The ladder signifies the "bridge" between Heaven and Earth (Jesus/Beth) that will come through Abraham's line and the tribes of Israel - from Dan to Beersheba.
Back on the Windsor bridge, before Tara falls off, we see Health pick up a Beer-sheba 🍺 bottle.
We see a ladder at Oceanside, where Tara (Daryl/Jacob) meets Rachel...
Tumblr media
All the bridge symbolism in the show points to Jacob's ladder 🪜 and Beersheba, the line of Abraham and the cure to come through that bloodline (Christ/Beth)
Jacob has his name changed by God to Israel, and while it refers to Daryl, it's also about the larger nation/bloodline.
The term "Time of Jacob's trouble" that I put in the title is just one more way of saying, Daniel's 70th week or the book of Revelation. This is huge topic theologically but at it's basis, they are all about the 7 year period that makes up the biblical end times called the Tribulation.
During this time period, God turns his focus back to Israel (Daryl), which is why now is the season of Daryl/Beth's story.
Both Daryl (Jacob/Israel) and Beth's (house of) bloodline combined are that "bridge" to a cure that undoes the fall and connects heaven and earth again.
Jacob, after Beersheba, travels through the area called Bethel, which means house of God. Daryl and Beth combined - Bethyl reconnects man to the house of God with a cure. Daryl when he finds Beth will have Joseph symbolism around him because he will be the "father" of the cure.
Tumblr media
As @bookqueenrules mentioned, in her last post, the working title of DD2 was 'Pilgrim'. The path that Jacob takes is known as Jacob's journey.
We see Abraham in the show drink beer when he arrives at the "promised land" (Alexandria)
Tumblr media
And he talks to Michonne about living and dying by the sword (the word of God/bible)
Tumblr media
We also see Abraham drink DAN-ville bridge whiskey while in the "promised land"
Tumblr media
Abraham gives us a depiction of the northernmost tribe of Israel -Dan when he drinks the "spirit" called Danville.
How do you get into the house of God? Through the cure that comes from Abraham's line - Dan to Beersheba.
Next to the ladder (Jacob's ladder) with Tara at Oceanside 🪜 we see a kite.
Emily posted about a kite (bridge to heaven) saying I AM WHO I AM," which is the name of God, and it represents the cure (world health organisation) and showing the apple 🍎 tree of the fall. Separation.
I am who I am cures the fall and separation.
Tumblr media
We see a representation of this fall symbolism with Rick and Michonne in 615.
Tumblr media
Michonne (Eve) picks up the apple 🍎 and eats it. The clock is pointing to 6,7, and 2
Tumblr media
672 in strong concordance, which is a concordance of biblical names and numbers and their meaning. 672 means to depart.
Separate, fall from God.
A hint to the fall and departure from God at the fall.
We see Michonne give the fruit to Rick (Adam). He eats and says, "This is GOOD."
A call back to Genesis when God says his creation was good before the fall.
Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good!
Apple symbolism is both a separation symbol and a reunion symbol because the good (perfect) cure (Jesus/Beth) restores the separation.
Michonne says it is good...because Jesus came through.
Tumblr media
Going backwards from this apple moment, Jesus is introduced. So the backwards timeline is fall, then Jesus making it good. Through the line of Dan to Beersheba.
Going forwards we have a representation of the end times Jesus pulls through (cure arrives), and then Negan, a version of the Antichrist, is introduced.
Abraham asks Who's Negan? The answer...Ding dong HELLS bells 🔔
Tumblr media
When Negan is introduced, he makes everyone kneel before him, which is a depiction of worship...
Tumblr media
Revelation 13.4
People worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, 'Who is like the beast? Who can wage war against it?'
Negan is a charismatic monster, kind of likeable even when being so evil. This is actually one of the traits that the antichrist is said to possess. He will be charming, a gifted communicator, and military leader.
When Negan is introduced in season 7, we see him tell Rick that this is the new world order...
Tumblr media
The antichrist creates a global system over which he rules, and he takes everything.
He makes everyone get the mark of the beast or be killed. We saw a depiction of this going backwards to Alexandria (Revived Roman Empire) with the "A" stamp on the right hand and the W mark on the foreheads of the wolves.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jessie says, "You're one of us now", her horse shoe necklace is related to the four-horseman of Revelation which i talk about here.
While he rises in Europe, his rule reaches worldwide. 🌎
Tumblr media
Emily in Europe with her "Obey world wide" beanie.
Emily at the Anne Frank museum (Annelies Marie Frank was a German-born Jewish girl who kept a diary in which she documented life in hiding under Nazi persecution during the German occupation of the Netherlands)
It's no coincidence that Daryl (Jacob/Israel) was taken prisoner by Negan but refused to bow, he represents end times Israel.
Tumblr media
If Daryl didn't escape, we can assume he would have been killed by Negan for not bowing down, bending the knee.
At the halfway mark, into the 7 year treaty (tribulation) that Antichrist makes with Jacob (Daryl/Israel), he breaks it and goes after Jacob's line (Israel) to persecute and kill them.
This is depicted by Negan killing Abraham. Antichrist goes after his line, that's why he was the one picked to die.
Tumblr media
The show is depicting all aspects of the end times combined, through many characters, while Beth and Rick have Christ returning symbolism, they also have Antichrist symbolism. Beth with her mortal head wound is a dead (pardon the pun) giveaway.
I've already talked about how Negan is a version of the antichrist here, he represents antichrist/Satan who leads the battle of Armageddon against God and loses. He then gets locked up for the Millennium and let back out for "a short time".
We have seen this play out in the waling dead when Negan lost the all out war, was locked up, then released and now in Dead City has become a leader again.
The episode Morning Star 10.11 gave us more end time symbolism, when the antichrist attacks Jacob/Israel.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The bible gives us the meaning and location of Hilltop when Jesus says...
Rev 22.16
“I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”
Morning star (Jesus/Beth) is a cure reference coming through (Daryl/Jacob's) line of Israel. Connected to the star of Kind David, who was also in the line of Abraham.
I've talked about this imagery with Emily before here and here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hilltop here, was a representation of Israel (Jacob's line) being attacked. With the wings of the Archangel Michael having Daryl's (Jacob's) back.
Before they go out to fight, we hear Eugene singing about the end of the world...
Tumblr media
Antichrist tries to kill Jacob/Israel but also anyone who won't take the mark of the beast.
Alpha be-heading's gave us a depiction of this verse...
Rev 20.4
I saw thrones, and sitting on those thrones were the ones who had been given the right to judge. I also saw the souls of the people who had their heads cut off because they had told about Jesus and preached God's message. They were the same ones who had not worshiped the beast or the idol, and they had refused to let its mark be put on their foreheads or hands. They will come to life and rule with Christ for 1,000 years.
Tumblr media
I will leave it here for today, but will come back soon to talk on fire symbolism, and the days of Noah.
Beth is Valenica (town in Spain) meaning Strong; healthy.

I salute your filial piety and wish you luck. I don't have a headcanon from any of the fandoms you're most active in right now; however! I just found something hilarious while dipping into a library copy of ADOW. At Sept-Tours, Diana is studying Aurora Consurgens, and Matthew is helping out by serving as her scriptural concordance (truly the fantasy of these novels is that her immortal vampire lover is also her RESEARCH ASSISTANT hot damn anyway.)
Anyway! He gives her all the references for a brief passage about the alchemical wedding EXCEPT a reference to The Song of Songs. And this is hilarious to me, especially in the context of their having *just* been negotiating their more-than-friends-but-he-refuses-to-have-sex relationship. So I am 110% convinced this is on purpose, that poor Matthew simply cannot bring himself to be like "oh and there's a reference to the book of the Bible about two lovers seeking each other with unfulfilled and exquisite desire." Because I don't think he would ever admit this, I now want to know what happens when Diana, years later, is using an actual concordance and finds out that her husband was holding out on her in more ways than one.
Diana and Matthew continue to be The Most. 🤣 I feel like he would have a lot of feelings about The Song of Songs, just, in general, but particularly at that point in the story. (And points forward, honestly.)
I'm tentatively getting excited for the new book that's coming in July even though I have zero idea what it's about.

Catch Michael currently sitting in the middle of the Exorcist compound, cross legged. Many a fledging was gathered around him, many settled in his expansive lap, others clinging to his robes and wings, still a few lucky others sat upon his broad shoulders as he reads to them from his Bible. (Have some wholesome to dilute the angst)
Tumblr media
Observing quietly, tired but watchful gilded marbles roving the gentle curve of his mouth to capture the occasional half-mast smile. Sometimes she wonders what business a man like him has, fighting the heavenly kingdom's bloodiest battles when peace and concord appears to come so much more naturally to him. It makes her a little bit sad, to be completely frank. A soft heart is a terrible burden to bear on the battlefield.
Her hands work slowly through the velvetty down of yet another fledgling, perched atop her knee, curious of the seraphim's presence but too timid to venture too close.
The brood barracks are sequestered from the rest of the compound, isolating the vulnerable youth until they have developed the faculties to comprehend the weight of their work. Life is simple here. She appreciates that. A pleasant reprive from the hustle and bustle of her day to day responsibilities, even if the little ones aren't all too keen on sitting through her bi-weekendly sermons.

some useful literature can help you have a correct interpretation of the Bible. they can also help you to have a good understanding of the history of Christianity, as well as information about the ancient history of Judaism.
look for good biblical dictionaries and encyclopedias, biblical concordances, dictionaries and lexicons of Hebrew and Koine Greek; out of curiosity, also consult the Vulgate (Latin translation of the Old Testament - or Tanach).
try to acquire a systematic theology manual, the creeds of the Christian faith and the historical documents of Protestantism from the Patristic Era onwards.
good studies!

Today in Christian History
Tumblr media
Today is Thursday, February 22nd, 2024. It is the 53rd day of the year in the Gregorian calendar; Because it is a leap year, 313 days remain until the end of the year.
1072: (or the 23rd) Death of Peter Damian, in Faenza, Italy. A reforming monk of the Benedictine order, he will be remembered chiefly for De divina omnipotentia which questioned the limits of the omnipotence of God (e.g.: can God change the past?) and will be declared a doctor of the church in the nineteenth century.
1225: Hugh of St. Cher dons the habit of the Dominican order. He will become a notable Bible scholar and head a team that will create the first really useful Bible concordance.
1297: Death in Cortona, Italy, of St. Margaret of Cortona, a Franciscan tertiary, who had established a hospital for the poor.
1632: Zuni Indians (tribe pictured above) kill Francisco de Letrado and dance with his scalp on a pole. He had been among Spanish missionaries attempting to impose a Christian regime on the Pueblo Indians.
1649: The Westminster Assembly adjourns, having held one thousand one hundred and sixty three sessions over a period of five years, six months, and twenty-two days. They were known for their solemn fasts and long hours of prayer.
1703: General Codrington bequeaths two plantations in Barbados for medical mission work to the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel, on condition that professors and scholars be maintained there to study and practice medicine, surgery, and divinity in order to “endear themselves to the people and have the better opportunities of doing good to men’s souls whilst they are taking care of their bodies.”
1822: Samuel and Catherine Clewes Leigh sail into a New Zealand Bay to begin work among the Maori. Samuel’s Ill health will force them to leave the following year, but the mission will continue under other workers.
1845: Death in London of Rev. Sydney Smith, wit and literary critic, author of The Letters of Peter Plymley. He had once tied some antlers to donkeys to pretend they were deer when an aristocratic lady was visiting. His daughter wrote, “My father died in peace with himself and with all the world; anxious to the last to promote the comfort and happiness of others. He sent messages of kindness and forgiveness to the few he thought had injured him. Almost his last act was bestowing a small living of £120 per annum on a poor, worthy, and friendless clergyman, who had lived a long life of struggle with poverty on £40 per annum.”
1870: Missionary James Gilmour sails from Liverpool to work in China and Mongolia. Made chaplain of the ship on which he is sailing, he shares the gospel with every member of the crew during the night watches.
1892: W. T. Satthianadhan, a leader of the Church Mission Society in Madras, relapses into a serious medical condition and will die within days.
