Artist Ask
6. tag your favorite artists/inspirations!
I'm not going to tag the artist on Tumblr because I don't want to clog up their notifs on here. But I do recc them!
Series: Cowboy Bebop I feel like as if I still get plenty of inspo from this series. I don't talk about it a lot but by god was it one of the first animes that I REALLY loved.
Series: Samurai Champloo It's just neat to me, I just like it.
Series: Sailor Moon While the story line is iffy here and there it's still probably one of the reasons I've been attracted to more feminine forces.
Series: Thunder Cats I just grew up on it.
Artist: Leonardo Da Vinci Basic- I just love the posing. I love the way he has notes on things, I love for me what feels like someone grasping to get humanity in his art. Idk, it's like watching a child make their first steps. Ironic because he's a founder to the art history bs.
Artist: Artemisia Gentileschi Basic- but when I saw Judith Slaying Holofernes I was in love.
Artist: Les Toil Does Plus Size Pinup Art! Been in love with them since forever!
Artist: Berthe Marie Pauline Morisot The colors, the sketchy painted style- I'm a simple person I think. But I admire it.
Tumblr: j0rrated I love their command of vibrant, loud colors! The eccentric poses! I think this is modern art? Sorry, I'm bad at telling different styles like that. But I do admire their talent and creativity.
Tumblr: pien-art I think they're one of those artist I've followed on all my blogs? Idk, I just love their style. Something with the brush strokes makes me smile. Maybe it's the expressive eyes?
Tumblr: japhers THE EXPRESSIONS AND THEIR FASHION!? Just so good! I love it and the way they paint their characters!
Tumblr: danifanatic Followed for the Shino content but stayed for the art style. I still want to commission them for a piece one of these days. They're just great- especially with their nature pieces. They also do super cute clay busts from time to time!
Tumblr: jovansjovans I love the way he handles the human body. I've had so much pleasure drawing with him before and he always amazes me! He's so good!
Tumblr: Foolishk Did you think you were getting out of this? HAHA! No. I just admire the way you can do such amazing realistic drawings, your control of grey scales! I just- dfjgdgdkjbkjd YOU'RE AMAZING!
Misc: Mother Nature
Misc: and so many more- I could go on. I don't even think this was mainly inspiration? I think this was just some of the artist I like!
26. draw urself! (it doesn’t have to be detailed)
Tumblr media
I just sketched it and snipped it off CSP. So kinda lazy- though my hair isn't as short anymore- but I will be getting it cut soon!

Some people miss the Musee d'Orsay because they only care about or know about the Louvre. But, as far as Impressionist art goes, anyway, this is the place to be!
Tumblr media
Berthe Marie Pauline Morisot was a French painter and one of the few women painters to be a member of the circle of famous painters in Paris who became known as The Impressionists. She was married and had a child and grandchild, so she certainly had other responsibilities in her life which the male painters may not have had. She exhibited regularly and, despite the protests of some family members and friends, she continued to struggle for recognition right alongside her male peers. She was also regarded as a feminist icon. Yay Berthe!!!
Tumblr media
Renoir's paintings often capture images and make them almost real. I felt as if I could reach out and touch her dress and feel the cool softness of the satin. The elegance of the scene, especially with the gloves and the tuxedo, are front and center, but I wonder what could have been the story that was happening here as they two young people danced. Was her heart beating wildly or was she bored because he wasn't her type? Was he counting his steps and nervously trying to avoid stepping on her feet? Was he sweating profusely in that heavy jacket? Because we can't see his face it's possible he was either smiling or grimacing. Many different story lines are possible if you use your imagination.
Tumblr media
Another Monet. I can't help it, he IS one of my favorites!
Tumblr media
We took a break for lunch at the museum restaurant, which was very good and then went back out for more art after that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Who knows why Degas was so fond of painting dancers and horses? Perhaps he liked the grace of both and the movement that he often portrayed in his works?
Tumblr media
Many people may not realize or appreciate that Edgar Degas was also a sculptor and that he often dressed his dancers in real cloth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was tragic that Vincent Van Gogh wasn't appreciated during his lifetime but he certainly is now. I love the song "Vincent (Starry Starry Night)" by Don McLean and you probably have heard it many times and maybe not realized it was about Van Gogh but it does tell his story in a beautiful melancholy way.
Tumblr media
Some very different paintings by Odilon Redon caught my eye and I had never heard of him before.
Tumblr media
They were more abstract than the impressionist paintings but I like abstract art too, if it's done well. He is considered more of a Symbolist painter.
Tumblr media
Bruce had been to Sacre Couer before so he didn't go with us when we took a taxi there and then walked up the steps to enter the chapel. This is one of my favorite churches in all the world.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's also peaceful and beautiful inside.
Tumblr media
Kathi and I got in touch with our "inner child" by riding the carousel down the hill from the church.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then we just decided to be silly and enjoy the hilarity of it.
Tumblr media
Even Ron got into the act!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We went to Mun for our last dinner in Paris and really liked the Asian food with a French flair!

BERTHE MARIE PAULINE MORISOT
On this day of 14th January, Berthe Marie Pauline Morisot (January 14, 1841 – March 2, 1895) was born in Bourges, France.
She was a painter and a member of the circle of painters in Paris who became known as the Impressionists.
Morisot exhibited for the highly esteemed Salon de Paris. Sponsored by the government and judged by Academicians, the Salon was the official, annual exhibition of the Académie des beaux-arts in Paris. Her work was selected for exhibition in six subsequent Salons.
She joined the "rejected" Impressionists in the first of their own exhibitions, which included Paul Cézanne, Edgar Degas, Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Alfred Sisley. It was held at the studio of the photographer Nadar. Morisot went on to participate in all but one of the following eight impressionist exhibitions.
As a copyist at the Louvre, Morisot met and befriended other artists such as Manet and Monet. She was introduced to Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, the pivotal landscape painter of the Barbizon school who also excelled in figure painting. Under Corot's influence, she took up the plein air method of working. She was studied under Achille Oudinot, another Barbizon painter. She studied sculpture under Aimé Millet, but none of her sculpture is known to survive.
Morisot was married to Eugène Manet, the brother of Édouard Manet.
She was described as one of "les trois grandes dames" of Impressionism alongside Marie Bracquemond and Mary Cassatt.
