First Kiss - Ben Daimio

"Stop avoiding me." The werejaguar hisses. "I am not avoiding you." You bristle.

He catches you by the wrist and spins you around. "Yes you are, you walk away every time I enter a room and you never look at me." Ben sneers. "Well small wonder, when you act like this." You tell him firmly. There is a growling noise from deep within his throat and he pulls you against his slender yet somehow also muscular body.

You feel your heart skip a beat.

"Well?" He peers down on you. You swallow thickly and place your hands on his chest. "Well what?" You manage, but your voice is a bare whisper. It causes Ben to grin down on you. "Well, close your eyes." He says.

You oblige, almost on instinct.

Ben starts to purr loudly. He leans in to close the distance. His breath gusts over your lips and you shudder. The way his lips brush yours is sensual in an odd primal way. You can't help a moan. It feels like something you have been needing for a good long time. Ben groans, too. His hands grab carefully at your hips. He draws your body against his own and licks at the seam of your lips. You whimper loudly and open up for him. Ben groans in reply and his tongue licks into your mouth.

The infamously terrible Hellboy (2019) is currently free to watch on Tubi, so I decided to give it a shot. And yep. It was bad.

To be fair, the actors do a good job with the less than stellar script they were given, the special effects look great—Hellboy’s tail moved really naturally, especially during combat—, and the soundtrack is actually splendid. Beyond that, though, the plot is… okay at best. The silly to takes-itself-seriously ratio is off. The film could’ve easily been a so-bad-it’s-good movie if it leaned into the campier aspects, but it wants so badly to be a cool superhero action movie.

Additionally, there is way too much unnecessary gore. Like, of course the demon man movie is gonna have blood and guts in it! I would be upset if it didn’t! But I don’t need to see people being brutally skewered and ripped in half for a solid minute in a scene the protagonist isn’t even present in. There is no using the display of gore (or choosing when to not prominently display it) to signal the most important bits.

With all of that said, the thing that irked me most about the film was that Ben Daimio was British.
