I have decided what my favorite game genre is -- cryptic puzzle games that piece together some kind of melancholic story. (Behind The Frame)

so systems, and others, did you ever watch a show or movie and really relate to a character and feel like you actually became the character for a bit after watching it? like even way after watching it? despite not really consuming media about said thing afterwards still feeling like said character? or maybe activly consuming media about said character but feeling like its wrong? ...
because as an autistic system I'm realizing it is very easily for us to watch a show or movie, or play a video game and see a character we relate to a little too much and just BaM! new introject. and I think I just had a breakthrough... It's so hard to get me to watch stuff and it's always been this unlying fear of enjoying it too much I think. Which is weird to say. But now.. now it makes a little more sense. Even books! Like we just got a new book this week and I'm putting off reading it solely because I felt someone already relating a little too hard to a character and I'm scared lol.
But we have so many introjects (fictives). Hell, our main host is one. he's fucking fantastic btw we love him. but anyways.
YouTube is our go to. We just watch informative videos. We can't exactly relate to just facts spewed at us so we're safe... But the second we find a cool series or movie or video game... it's over. It's a cycle that, deep down, I know and we avoid... but I'm just now recognizing it. I don't know why I'm realizing all this. Maybe cause I'm less connected to that side of it and I'm fronting for the first time in a bit. I'm just connecting some dots. My side of the system is just.. alters of me really but yeah. idk I am simply throwing these thoughts out there I guess lol. and hoping someone can relate.

Had really bad anxiety this morning (news, crowded store, bad vibes) so, inspired by a post by @ellemant , i played the lovely Behind the Frame game. It really helped.

PAX East 2023: Akupara Games Brings the Unique Thunder
Top off the unique and clever dice-based gameplay with a gorgeous art style that nails this sort of interstellar fantasy feel, and Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles could easily be a roguelike smash when it comes out later this year. For now, it’s a key player in a promising lineup of upcoming games for Akupara, which also includes 2024’s Sorry We’re Closed and Cryptmaster. So yes, all of this is why I contacted Akupara to see about meeting them at PAX East. Seriously, it isn’t a mystery as to why anyone would be excited to check out the wares from this publisher and the talented developers behind them.
Check it out!

At Christmas I impulse bought Behind the Frame because it was recommended on a TikTok and was about the amount of money left on my gift card.
I finally decided to play it to procrastinate my work and now I’m sitting crying because that was so cute.

Day 222
Normally, point and click adventure games do not have much in the way of replayability. This is often because these types of video games have a set narrative and a specific way to solve them.
(This is also by the way the same reason why hidden object games tend to not have a lot of replayability.)
The game Behind the Frame though is one of those really rare games where, if you didn’t already know the twist to the game, it’s worth replaying it. Especially since the game isn’t very long, it’s maybe an hour at most. I had originally bought and played the game in 2021 when it first released. In the summer of 2022, the developers Silver Lining Studio decided to release a bonus chapter, which I was aware about but hadn’t gotten around to playing until now.
Since the game is actually really short (you could finish it in under an hour), I decided to replay it through from the beginning. It’s fascinating to play the game again because knowing what I know now, I can see all the hints that there was more to the story than I originally thought.
It’s not a complex game (the puzzles are very simple) but you’re driven by the story, and a story about unrequited love, lost chances and hopeful opportunities is what made this game for me.

so I was talking to my roommate last night (this should be a bit at this point... like every post starts with it.. Anyways) I was talking to her about our expiriences and such and she doesn't??? hear other voices???? like she hears her own stream of consciousness Sometimes. like only when she's deep in thought.
so i looked at her. and just went: so you're telling me. you don't have a constant running commentary of other voices 24/7????? like voices that you can't control??? that are not in your voice?? that respond to you?? you Don't have that?
she just looked at me. like, no.
unfair.
like we've had Voices for years. but thought that was normal lol. like yeah everyone has voices that respond to them. that's just your conscious that you have a full conversation with that responds in a different voice mhm. and i thought the constant stream of talking was just an adhd thing... lmao... whoops
