PLAYING: Battlefield: Bad Company 2 & Battlefield 3
Tumblr media
I've put hundreds of hours into both of these games. I kinda miss'em.
Reflecting on how I came to love Battlefield, well the story starts with World of Warcraft. When I started playing WoW I didn't understand the tank/healer/DPS concept. Once I did, I fell in love with it and I especially liked being a healer. But that was adventuring, not competitive multiplayer.
I was never really interested in competitive shooters because I liked story and cinematic adventures. Running in circles with machine guns wasn't "fun" to me. But then I played Warhawk on PS3. To me, the game had Paper, Rock, Scissors gameplay. Everything had a weakness and a strength. Warhawks were fast with advanced weaponry, but were defeated by homing missiles or well-aimed tank shots. Thanks could decimate infantry unless someone had a flamethrower--then the tables were flipped. And then the game modes were interesting--especially Zones. Instead of winning by kills or by capture the flag, you had to control zones around the map. This allowed you to earn points over time. In my mind, this was more realistic warfare, as you were basically fighting over resources and territory. What real wars are fought over. And you could use interesting strategies, like sneaking behind enemy lines to take their base--which pulled their frontline soldiers off the frontline giving your frontline soldiers opportunities to advance.
Then I learned about MAG, a PS3 game with a whopping 128 players per battle. But it was disappointing. A, medic classes were useless because everyone could self heal. Also, everyone was a bullet sponge, so we returned to running in circles. I kinda enjoyed it but not much. A friend heard my complaints and suggested Bad Company 2.
Nailed it.
Battlefield combines the Tank/Healer/DPS of WoW with the Paper, Rock, Scissors of Warhawk, as well as having Warhawks multi-vehicle combat and "real war" strategies. I loved that BC2 didn't have a deathmatch mode. Killing shouldn't be a purpose but a means to an end (in video games. In real life, don't kill.). By giving war simulation objectives like "take and hold this objective" or attack or defend this objective, players had to think more strategically. And because each class has unique advantages, mixing up your classes with your squad maximized your strategic advantage.
Engineers could repair tanks (or unrepair enemy tanks), Snipers had motion sensors and could call in mortar strikes, Assault classes kept everyone stocked with ammo, and medics kept everyone alive through healing packs and reviving. I liked playing the Medic. I convinced several friends to buy BC2 and we had a great time online. Medics had trash guns, but I was more focused on healing anyways. I only played the other classes for trophies.
I also mostly enjoyed the campaign. Many of the levels felt like I was a part of major battles and used various vehicles.
Then came Battlefield 3. I was really excited. BC2 was great but also had a lot of issues. Player movement was a bit stiff. The levels were interesting but not particularly well designed: there were a lot of ways to take cheap advantages of situations: such as when the enemy could invade your spawn point. Battlefield 3 fixed almost everything. Enemies could no longer invade team spawns, movement was more natural and you could vault over obstacles, heavy machine guns could be given bipods to make them more accurate, and the game looked better.
Also...to my surprise, they made the assault class have health and revive while the medic class we dropped for a support class. Support got the dumb heavy machine guns and ability to provide ammo. The support class was very playable and gave some great tactical advantages, but the assault class became unstoppable. Or at least, I became unstoppable. Finally I was a medic with a lethal weapon (machine guns suck, but assault rifles are very versatile). I could walk around a corner facing three opponents and come out on top. I kill the first, injure the other two, but duck for cover before they could kill me, drop a healing bad, get back to 100% and finish the job. Plus I was really comfortable attacking mission objectives. I typically ranked in the top 3, and more often as no 1. Not only did I get the most points, but I very often had the best K/D ratio.
This was on PS3.
But then I lost interest in killing. But I still missed the strategic gameplay of Battlefield, especially playing medic. I've played the games a couple of times over the years but I focus on healing only. I still attack the objectives very aggressively, while supporting my team. But I don't get kills anymore. I've adjusted my play style to this so well that I still rank high without a single kill. On a couple of occasions I've been the highest scoring player in a match, and with 0 kills!
So anyway, I played a couple of rounds of BC2 and one round of BF3 recently...
Bad Company 2:
I got into a conquest match in the sea-side desert level with the container ship. The match started 4 on 3, I was on the team with 3. Not great. The enemy team had a helicopter and this person was good. They could hone in and murder anyone the map. It made travel very risky. But I was able to sneak behind enemy lines a few times to steal their first base, but I didn't as long when they came to hunt me down. Because there were so few team mates, I didn't get into many situations to heal or resurrect people, I mostly scored by taking bases. By the time we lost, the teams had increased to about 8 on 9.
In the next round, well to jump ahead, we won. While there were more team mates, I still didn't get to heal or resurrect much. But I did pretty good taking bases and keeping the enemy on their toes. I think I ranked in the top 5 of the whole match and without a single kill. But the scoreboard doesn't show kills so no one noticed.
It was fun to play this game I put over a hundred hours into. It was a very fun part of my 20s. While I feel nostalgia for that experience it's easily overshadowed by BF3's improvements. I deleted it off my Xbox almost immediately.
Battlefield 3:
Now we're talking. The best Battlefield I've every played. I haven't played a ton, but I love this one. BF3's maps are amazingly well designed. While BC2 had cheap hiding areas or overly exposed defensive positions, every part of BF3 feels meticulously thought out. A random rock on in a field might present an amazing sniper opportunity, but it's also very exposed to counter attack and is way out of the way of objectives. So you have to decide, do you want to focus on sniping an enemy or help push into objectives?
I chose any mode and unfortunately I was immediately dropped into Team Death Match. I found it unfortunate that this mode had made it into BF3 and it became something I had to endure with the general map rotations. It's also not a good mode to be a medic. I found a conquest rented server and jumped in. It was basically that or two other TDM servers.
This is the seaside level with a beach front on one end and a factory like facility on the other. It's not my favorite level, but sure--fine. The teams were fairly evenly matched but I was dismayed to see that the scores were way up. Currently both teams had roughly 400 ticket left and the match was already about halfway through (normally, 200 tickets is the target).

Meanwhile, EA Play Pro members are getting an even better deal. The inclusion of the vanilla Game Pass tiers, available for console or PC, is quite interesting because EA Play has only been offered to the Ultimate plan. Tumblr media
“Battlefield 2042” was originally scheduled to launch on Oct. This month is going to be huge for fans of first-person shooter games, especially those who have been waiting for the release of “Battlefield 2042.” EA Play and Xbox Game Pass subscribers have an advantage, though, as EA confirmed they are getting an exclusive 10-hour free trial days before the game’s launch.

Why isn't battlefield bad company 2 online working
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Asian regions in particular have dozens of active servers, but much like in “Battlefield V,” official servers tend to have hacker problems. Is Battlefield 2042 online only?ĮA has revealed that Battlefield 2042 is online only, even if all you want to do is train against AI soldiers on your own. They’ve mentioned now a few times that in Battlefield 2042’s multiplayer bots will be used to fill the lobbies and thus produce 128 player games for every match. Not just in the ways you’d expect, but also in ordinary multiplayer games between human players. Will Battlefield 2042 have bots?īattlefield 2042 will make extensive use of bots.
Tumblr media
It does have a single player campaign if you want solo action though. No, Battlefield 5 does not have offline multiplayer with bots. How long does it take to beat Battlefield 4? Bots, however, do not appear in the multiplayer portion of the game. With the Hot-swap feature in the game, the player can take control of any teammate controlled by a bot at any given time. Does Battlefield 2 have bots?īots appear in the singleplayer campaign of Battlefield 2: Modern Combat as teammates and enemies for the player. In October 1944, a group of US commandos infiltrate an island in the Sea of Japan to extract a Japanese scientist with war decisive information. What time period is Bad Company 2 set in? We won’t have bot-matches in the same way. It’s the final stretch before the release of some of the year’s most highly anticipated games. Thanks to the keen eye of an Xbox One gamer, Battlefield 1’s file size is revealed to be 43 GB, meaning gamers may have to clear some space to prepare for the shooter. There are no BF2042 offline bots as the new FPS is an always-online game. Players can participate in Battlefield 2042 bot matches to practice, though these require an internet connection. How long does it take to beat Battlefield 4?īots help to preserve team balance and keep the action flowing in regular online multiplayer matches. What time period is Bad Company 2 set in?.

Unprofessional
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 6 Hey! Here's part five! Sorry it took so long, I was busy and got sidetracked with another project.
Cross-posted on Ao3
You felt like you were going to puke, listening to the pen scrape on the paper as König wrote you up. You and Nikto had been interviewed, and though you insisted nothing “bad” had happened, you were still being written up. Like you were too rowdy on the school bus.
You could swear you feel the stinging of tears meeting your eyes, but that’s stupid. You’re a soldier. You kill people. You don’t cry because of a piece of paper. Still, your hands shake and your eyes sting and you just want to reach out to Nikto, but he isn’t there.
You were both interviewed separately, both written up separately, and you’d likely be going on missions separately from now on. And you hated it. You just hoped he did too. He had to - with the way that he laid on your chest and hummed as you slept in his bed. In the way that he looked at you, the way that he leaned into your touch. He had to hate it, just as much as you. If not more.
“You will not interact with him in such ways again,” König looks up at you, putting the paper into the copy machine by his desk. It beeps slowly as it scans the writing, and each beep hits your ears like a chisel to your skull. It pounds against your head, almost being physically painful.
Beep, beep, beep!
And then that awful crunching noise of the paper printing. It feels like scraping metal against your mind, just like the metal of knives scrapping against the skin on the battlefield.
…Maybe you shouldn’t think about that while looking at your boss.
He huffs, pulling out the freshly printed copy of the paper and holding it out to you, “You are… a good asset,” He starts, eyes flitting under his mask. “Do not make me fire you. It would be… unbeneficial. Harmful, even. To the team.”
You look miserably at the paper in his hands, biting the inside of your cheek. You nod, taking the paper from him.
“Thank you, sir,” You mumble, looking down at the stark white paper that’s now in your hands. His writing is thick and bold in an eye-burning black ink against the almost luminescence of the paper. This is the weirdest shade of white you’ve ever seen, and it’s almost memorizing. It would be if you weren’t absolutely destroyed emotionally. You all but sniffle. “I’ll… see you tomorrow, sir,” You mumble, rushing out of the room before he can respond.
This is so stupid. It makes no sense for you to cry. It makes no sense for you to be so upset. It’s not like you’ve been in a deeply romantic relationship with him for years. You were fucking around for like, two weeks. There is no reason for a trained killer like you to be acting like a schoolchild whose dad told them he didn’t like their partner.
You rush through the halls, power walking to avoid anyone seeing you like this. That’s something you don’t need any more of. You mean, the last time someone saw you, you’re entire life was ruined.
Oh, God, you sound like an absolutely smitten teenager. That’s so embarrassing.
Your emotions are fluctuating so much right now. Sadness, embarrassment, anger, embarrassment. Now you were curious. Who told? Did they let it slip on accident or was it malicious? Did he just figure it out on his own? Maybe he was trying to talk to Nikto about something else and you were just there. Wrong place wrong time, y’know?
You get to your room. Your own room, not Nikto’s, not that stupid little fantasy cabin you could have with him. Your room. Your empty, cold room with no one to cuddle up to.
You should retire. Out of spite. You should draft a statement and march right back up there and slam it down on that Austrian fuck’s desk. Or maybe not retire, but quit and find an opposing company so maybe one day you could-
Okay, too far. You don’t have to get violent. Oh, fuck, violent.
Nikto was probably off his rocker.
You have to stop him. But you can’t see him, that wouldn’t be a good look, would it? You huff, looking around. Who the hell can you trust? Both not to talk, but also with Nikto. He was very particular about who he liked. You rack your brain for a moment, going over everyone you could.
And that is how you end up outside of the door of the one man you can trust in this situation. The ever-silent, ever-familiar to Nikto….
Velikan.
You start scrambling for an explanation, cringing at how badly you were stammering for the words. He crosses his arms, leaning against the door frame impatiently. Your words take a moment for you to find, but you find them.
“I’m in trouble for fraternizing with Nikto and you’re the only one who I know that I can trust who Nikto’s familiar with - I mean, actually he worked with Mace, right? And Mace is a nice guy, I’m sure Nikto and he get along fine - but I just,” Your hands find your face. “Can you make sure Nikto’s okay? I just… don’t want him to try and beat the fuck out of König, that’d be the worst thing-”
Velikan’s hand meets your shoulder, gently shaking you to make sure you look up at his covered eyes. He lets out a low, growling sound, reassuring you. You’re really not sure why exactly you went to him now that you’re thinking about it. You have no clue what’s wrong with him, but you’ve never heard him speak. He just…. makes weird growling laughs. You aren’t sure if that’s all he can do, or if it’s just some dumb prank he’s playing on everyone else.
It doesn’t matter, you’re already grabbing for him to pull him in for a hug. He nods, making some more low grunting sounds. Oh, maybe it’s the mask?
“I’m sorry,” You mumble into the stiff material of his suit. He shakes his head.
“No, no,” The grunts sound like words now, “It’s okay,” he shushes you. He pats your shoulder, before pushing you off him. He uses one hand to hold your shoulder and the other to pull his goggles up.
His face is smudged with eye-black, but the signal is there. He’s trying to get you to see his sincerity. You nod, taking a deep breath. You are not going to cry. You aren’t crying.
He lets out a new grunt, patting his chest, the grunt sounds something like “Nikto.” You look into his eyes, breathing shuttering.
“You’ll look after Nikto?” You ask, and he nods. Then, he shakes his head, patting your shoulder. “And you won’t let him fight the colonel?” You ask. He nods one more. You back away, but before you can leave, he stops you.
He thwaps you on the shoulder, “You find support, too,” He grumbles out. Yup, it’s the mask making it hard to understand him. You nod again, and he gives you a thumbs up.
He then steps out of his room, once more patting your shoulder as he walks off. Possible to find Nikto.
Oh, you hope it’s to find Nikto.
You hope Nikto is going to be okay.
You hope you’re going to be okay.

The brainrot took over and I spent all morning rambling/psychoanalyzing BigB and Grian cause they make me crazy
So it’s been established that Grian + Scar and Ren + BigB are soulmates. No matter what they will find each other- even outside of DL. Fate chose them and continues to choose them
Grian + BigB on the other hand are not soulmates, they just chose each other. It’s rare that they cross paths but typically they’ll stay nearby whenever they do.
3L had blue sword boys (BSB) which was the two of them and Martyn, though Martyn was the only one out of the three that called on the alliance. The desert’s first plan happened at BigB’s castle- an action that steered Scar away from BigB and towards Dogwarts even though aiming for BigB probably would’ve gotten them more immediate results- something I know damn well Grian shoots for. I like to think this was because B was Grian’s backup plan if Scar did die. “Your job isn’t to steal cookies, it’s to do murder” if that was the sole reason for changing targets then why not just attack BigB instead of stealing his cookie?
They didn’t cross paths on the battlefield iirc, even when the desert stormed Dogwarts for the final time. BigB was absent when the desert went sky high and was largely uninvolved in most of the war. Though he sided with DW he didn’t fully stand against the desert, he didn’t stand against Grian. And when the desert stormed DW, BigB was mostly on the outskirts of that fight, which I think was because he’s scared of combat. EDIT correcting myself here but BigB was in fact shot by Grian, even if unintentionally
The next time they see each other is when Scar comes along to sic Bdubs on BigB. The whole time Grian is begging BigB to “do something!!” And saying he can’t watch. EDIT 2 I watched the clip back and Grian specifically told him “don’t go out without a fight.” DON’T GO OUT WITHOUT A FIGHT.
Even after BigB panics and attacks him, Grian is still distraught over the fact that he’s gone. He even justifies BigB attacking him as it being revenge for the arrow
I’m also fascinated by B’s decision to attack Grian instead of the other two reds. Grian was the only yellow name left, which was probably the reason why B went for him over Scar or Bdubs. It could be a fun idea for BigB to see that he was never truly on the desert’s side and attack Grian as a response to that. Yes Grian was pleading for him to do something, but he made no actual attempt to save him. Grian was going to let them kill BigB, and B knew this
Anyways
-
LL they didn’t really interact much- which does come into play during DL
-
In DL Grian and BigB found each other day 1, but alas, not soulmates. But there’s a couple things established in their first interaction. Grian suddenly dropped like 6 hearts bc of Scar and started panicking asking for food. This established pretty much immediately that Grian’s soulmate wasn’t going to save him and BigB was.
BigB, on the other hand, though Grian’s disappointment, reads that Grian would have truly valued his company- not to mention how he knows that G would’ve taken the lead on things B feels he’s weakest at, considering they have past experience
Enter Ren! Ren is someone who truly does value and care about BigB but he is very bad at actually expressing this. He tries spinning negatives into positives instead of working through them- which isn’t a flaw necessarily but it is something that clashes with BigB
I would like to specifically point out that instead of listening to BigB when he said he doesn’t know how to build and teaching him some basics- Ren instead leans into the fact that BigB is bad at building. He decides they should make the ugliest base as a sort of inside joke but I can’t help but feel like BigB was a little hurt by that. He laughs along, but damn.. Ren intended this as some harmless fun but fails to recognize that it’s not what BigB wanted, nor what he needed. BigB does learn to love the base for all its goofiness because he loves Ren, and wants to be there for him
Box pretty quickly becomes about what Ren wants- not through malicious intent but because they have different personalities. Ren is very loud and outgoing while BigB is more reserved.
Ren is someone who tends to jump into things headfirst while BigB tends to follow. Ren also has a habit of not listening to people- something he did in past seasons as well. DW almost crumbled because he failed to listen to Martyn, he got tunnel vision in LL while building the shadow fort and failed to save Cleo- not even realizing she’d died when the betrayal happened on his front doorstep
BigB, on the other hand, needs to be listened to. Again, he’s a lot more reserved than other people but truly shines when he has a spotlight on him. LL was wonderful for this since, after his betrayal, the main plot thread of the fairy fort centered on him- on how his mistakes led to their demise and how it was up to him to fix the situation he caused. BigB stayed closer to his team than ever before, making sure that they knew he was trustworthy. However, B also ran away from the true issue, which was that he had betrayed Cleo. BigB was too scared to try to make amends with them after Cleo burned the fort to the ground, fearing for both his safety and the safety of his team.
Back to DL! BigB overcompensated for past mistakes by fully mirroring whatever Ren did, all the way down to getting a matching pair of sunglasses and dog ears. He didn’t agree with Ren’s decision to ban Pearl from Box, but stood by the decision since Ren had made it. Largely, BigB didn’t feel heard in the relationship- something that’s later discussed in couple’s counseling
Putting a pin in that!
On Grian’s side of things he is in! An entire mess. Not only is he paired with a past fling, but Scar is almost constantly causing problems for him. He’s taking large chunks of damage, getting himself into stressful situations for Grian, and Grian has to drag him everywhere in order to get them to get along. Scar wasn’t even going to base with him, he was perfectly content in them living in separate bases when Grian needed to stay with his soulmate. It comes down to safety for Grian- he doesn’t think he can rely on Scar to keep the both of them out of harm’s way. In fact, Grian has to hurt himself to be with Scar, even in their first interaction with the stalactite!!!!
Grian feels less like Scar’s partner and more like Scar’s mother, having to constantly watch after him and make sure he’s out of trouble. I think Grian even remarks that being with Scar is like watching over a toddler.
Scar’s behaving like this both to try and get Grian to be less uptight about every little thing and also as a means of getting back at him for said little things. Grian didn’t want the pandas in the house? Fine, he’ll hop in some powdered snow. Grian’s upset by him taking damage? Fine, he just won’t eat for a bit. Scar knows it’s not as serious as Grian’s making it out to be but does nothing to reassure Grian.
All this does is push Grian away, so it’s absolutely no surprise that Grian runs off. He tried! So hard! To fix the relationship and doesn’t see Scar putting in the same amount of effort. Again, Grian is his partner, not his caretaker. He shouldn’t be expected to constantly clean up after Scar
No G wasn’t perfect but goddamn
BigB on the other hand, has already been established as a Safe person. Both this season and in past seasons. Remember, Grian was completely absent from the fairy fort plotline, never actually crossing paths with the consequences of the betrayal. This affects both of them. Not only does Grian perceive him as safe, but BigB knows he has nothing to prove to Grian. He is loved regardless, while with Ren he feels the need to prove himself CONSTANTLY with little acknowledgement.
They both felt undervalued with their soulmate but were valued with one another. However, neither one of them wanted to actually leave their soulmate, which is where things get tricky. They were fully in the wrong for cheating on their soulmates, even if they did have a reason for doing so
But anyways
BigB got caught between Grian and Ren, the more he leaned to one side the more he lost the other. This is the same issue he had in 3L- coincidentally landing between the same people.
Both of them kept the other a secret to protect their peace more than their soulmate. Grian even goes as far as to gaslight Scar when Scar clearly knows he’s being cheated on. BigB also lies about Grian’s involvement in his and Ren’s 2nd death, leading Ren to focus solely on Bdubs.
Ren does this to find a target to defend BigB from rather than actually addressing the root of their problems- Ren’s inability to listen. He thinks that if he just Shows BigB how good of a soulmate he is, he can keep BigB at his side when that’s not what BigB needs. So now Box is caught in a cycle of trying to prove themselves to the other
Scar, on the other hand, doubles down on his behavior instead of making any changes. The only thing he does change is how much he listens to Grian. He basically becomes Grian’s lackey, which was meant to address the fact that Grian feels like he has no control over his circumstances. However, he fails to recognize that the reason G thinks he lost control is because Scar himself is a rogue element.
So both sides continue to get worse in trying to course correct- which causes both of them to get into increasingly dangerous situations
-
Also side bar, in writing this I realized if you swapped Grian for Ren they would be perfectly functional on both sides- since Ren’s course correction matches what Scar needs and Scar’s course correction matches what Ren needs. Ren needs support while being a protector and Scar needs someone to stand by him. Grian needs someone who’s safe and BigB needs someone to guide him
It’s a really funny coincidence but anyways
-
Ultimately it was Grian’s impulsiveness that did them in- all four of them. He set the trap at Box trying something ambitious, and he went to get a warden for a last hoorah. I like to think he was emboldened by the fact that the soulmate feature had less emphasis to him in those final episodes. He was thinking about BigB and not Ren and considered Scar entirely separate from him. It also doesn’t help that two of the three soulmate couples that stayed together- were either dead(ranchers), or distant from him(clockduo). Boat boys fed into his chaotic nature through being silly goofy guys
Even after Grian ended his season, BigB still forgives him. He still cares!!
I’m not normal about this season whatsoever
-
In LimL they really don’t properly interact until the very end but we’ll get to that.
BigB’s POV really reinforces that Grian is a loose canon. This was established in DL but LimL reinforces this in a more Romanticized kind of way. Grian’s sort of framed as being dangerous in a fun way and not the “oh this one’ll kill me and dump my body off a bridge” kinda way. He’s a Bad Boy, not a Bad Guy
On the other side of things, Grian’s POV reinforces that BigB is “safe.” The only conflict he has with the Nosy Neighbors is the Judge Judy and Executioner plotline- which Grian doesn’t take seriously whatsoever. Meanwhile, the Bad Boys have conflict with literally everyone else on the server
So when Jimmy and Joel die, it is zero surprise that Grian comes running to BigB again! BigB can’t save him, he can’t even save himself, but goddamnit Grian still trusts him and BigB’s too nice for is own good
And once again!! It’s Grian’s impulsiveness that gets them killed
I would like to also point out the moment where B has 45 seconds left on his timer and while Pearl is desperately trying to save him, Grian sort of stands off to the side and gets ready to crit BigB out if he has to. Remember- Grian was fighting a losing battle to save his boys, it getting to the point where it just wasn’t worth the cost. He hesitated because he didn’t want to lose BigB but wasn’t quick to save him like Pearl was.
And honestly it’s no surprise that Pearl was so quick to give him time. She spent the last season completely on her own and had nobody to turn to. Everyone she tried to stay with turned her away, and BigB was arguably the only person who didn’t outright shun her. Remember, he was only going along with Ren’s decision and I think she knows this. Now in LimL, Pearl has him as someone she can fully rely on, someone who stays at her side no matter what and I also think she panicked at the idea of being alone. Grian has a habit of making selfish decisions, and she knows that won’t bode well for her if it’s just the two of them. Plus she fully understands the power of a sacrifice and what it means to others. Hell, her victory was given to her THROUGH A SACRIFICE. Pearl knows damn well the amount of kindness it takes to do something like that, so her jumping to save B makes complete sense
I also like to think this calls back to 3L, with Grian not moving to save him from Scar and Bdubs. In both situations, Grian thinks BigB was going down anyways and is too scared to do anything to save him. But while BigB couldn’t do anything then, he can do something now. Grian is grateful for the extra time but I can’t help but think this pushed BigB away
Pearl was the last of that trio iirc, with both BigB and Grian dying in clumsy ways
-
SL they coincidentally wound up on the same corner of the map and most of BigB’s silly goofy behavior was directed at Grian but I really need to watch their POVs again to do a proper analysis so we’re putting a pin in that until later

Prince Yuji rode across the battlefield on his jet black steed sukuna. His clan had been dominating the war waged by a neighboring kingdom, in a fierce effort to maintain their country’s border. He had been eager to strike up negotiations with them regarding the land dispute but when they had attacked he had no choice but to fight against them.
“Soldiers, we fight to subdue our neighbors, not kill them, remember this! Today will be the last ride!” Yuji shouted over the hoards of men lined in front of him.
He wanted to settle the matter quickly by breaking the spirit of his enemies, not their bodies. But the enemy was relentless even with their lesser numbers. The charge commenced and he flanked one side of the enemies while the commander Kugisaki led the other to surround them and push them out. But the battle was a fierce one. As Yuji charged he displayed incredible feats on the battlefield. They hadn’t been as successful as they had hoped to be but the enemy called a short retreat and fell further back, almost to the border. He turned back to his men looking over the gained land and beaming with pride.
And as he took in the sight his vision faded. His grip was lost on Sukuna and he fell to the ground.
He woke up to the muffled voice around his body.
“He sustained many lacerations, not to mention falling from that tall steed of his. His head is in bad shape.” He opened his eyes to a woman waving an enchanted hand over his body.
She spoke to an empty room (apart from himself), he couldn’t speak to respond to her. The waves of pain from exertion swept over his body as he gained consciousness.
A loud voice from outside the door caught his attention.
“Let me through!” they shouted.
Yuji could never forget the shout of his comrade, Nobara burst through the wooden door.
“Commander I’m sorry but you can’t burst in here.” Another younger nurse cut her off before she could stomp deeper into the room.
“Get out of my way! This is the prince of the kingdom, he's not going to be treated in some scruffy war shack!” She berated the nurse and attempted to push her aside.
“He cannot be moved.” She fought to keep her spot in front of the commander. Impressive considering the commander's strength. “He needs to rest and heal first.” She insisted.
“You will obey my orders as commander of the kingdom.” Nobara barked.
“We are not of your kingdom, we travel treating those stupid enough to start a war!” The nurse yelled back. “Get out, you're disturbing my patients.” The commander relented and the young nurse pushed her out of the room.
“Ahem, my apologies my lady. You requested me?” The young nurse turned to the woman at Yuji’s bedside.
“Hello (Y/N)” She smiled. “Thankyou for dealing with our company. Though maybe next time a bit more tact would be in order.” She rose from her place at Yuji’s bedside.
“This young man is a special task. One I am entrusting to my finest student, see to it he is fully healed and on his way back to his kingdom. So his dreadful guards will leave my encampment.” She sighed and exited the room
“Yes ma’am” You spoke as the door closed behind the head nurse.
After a pause you slowly turned toward the patient in question. His torso was black and blue and his head was already bandaged up. You moved closer to examine and finally noticed the open eyes slightly obscured by the bandaging.
“Oh my.” you gasped and hopped back a bit from the bed. “um I’m sorry I wasn’t aware you were awake. You must be in a lot of pain, this should help.” You pulled a balm from your robe pocket and a spatula to apply to the swollen bumps of skin.
Your touch was like a whisper to the skin and Yuji hardly noticed the application but felt the relief of his muscles as the balm took effect.
“Thank..You.” he struggled out, finally being able to communicate without suffering.
“Don’t speak just yet.” You said softly.
You ran the balm along his neck next to allow him to rest comfortably for the day.
“Now all you need is some rest.” Your words fell on deaf ears as he had already passed out, having exhausted himself.
The next day Yuji had woken up to you buzzing around his room moving around soiled bandaging from his bedside.
“He-Hello.” He stuttered abit taking due to his dehydration.
“Hello.” You turned around with a bright smile.
The sun flooded the room around you, bouncing off your brown skin like a blanket of light. Had he seen it yesterday he wouldve mistaken you for a angel. He stared for a bit, forgetting his pain and absentmindedly moving to leave the bed.
“Oh no please...Don’t move yet. You must take the time to heal.” You rushed over and moved his arm back into bed. Taking into account how defined his muscles were.
“Heh, can I trouble you for some water.” He smiled slightly then wincing at the pain.
“Yes, of course.” You swayed out of the room and returned with a pitcher.
You sat on the side of his bed.
“I’m going to use some more healing ointment on you before I give you the water. It’ll make it easier to drink” You said to Yuji.
Again your feather light touches graced his skin. This time his nerves were not overcome by pain and he felt the true skill through your application. You then reacched for the pitcher and held it to his mouth slowly tipping water for him to drink. You focused on making sure the water didn't spill onto his bandaged body.
“Is that enough?” you said pulling the pitcher from his lips.
“Yes.” Yuji said, the ghost of a smile could be seen on his face.
“Now bare with me, I need to make sure your airway is clear at all times.” You said
Your fingers pressed to his neck with more pressure than before earning a flinch from the prince.
“I’m sorry.” you pulled your fingers back a bit. “I’ll put less pressure.”
“No, I’m just not used to feeling this weak. I’ve never been this heavily wounded.”
“Well I heard you fought off 100 soldiers at once, all by yourself. Surely you’d expect some injury.” You jest.
“It was more like 80 men.” Yuji played off your compliments.
Your shared eye contact lingered until you reminded yourself to check his airway. His pulse was strong and breathing with no obstructions.
“I bet you’ll get back to your fight in no time.” You began to get up from the bed.
"The stupid fight?" He questioned your earlier statements.
You turned around with a shocked and embarrassed look.
"I didn't mean-uh- there is nothing trivial about your fight." You stammered over your words hoping to not have offended the prince.
"It's alright. I agree it's a stupid war." Yuji's face fell serious. "I hope to end it as fast as possible."
You continued spending your time solely focusing on the prince and in two weeks time he had made remarkable progress.
Today you swished through the encampment to deliver food to him.
"Good morn- Yuji, you can't be out of bed!” You came into the room to see the prince standing by the back curtain looking over the bustling camp.
“Well obviously I can.” He flashed the devilish teeth you'd come to love. “And it's all thanks to you.”
You braced yourself for his charm, squaring your shoulders you ventured over to him. “I'm not a miracle worker, you still need rest.”
You guided him back to his bed, not daring to look up at the light brown pools fixed atop your head. Every morning since he could speak the two of you sat together and chatted as there wasn't much for either of you to do.
The two of you had gotten to know each other well. You learned that Yuji was born outside the palace and had only learned he was in the line of succession a few years prior. As such he wasn't used to people calling him prince and insisted on his friends not using his title of prince. He was interested in your travels as your clan had provided aid to many wars across the land and you had been to many different parts of the country. You informed him of your favorite stops and places that were now at peace and free to visit if he wished to.
"What else do you enjoy?" Yuji asked you.
His hands rested on your hips as they had found a familiar home there whenever the two of you had your talks. You laid right next to him and against your wishes he would always roll over to face you while you talked.
"I love music. You don't hear it a lot when you're always near wars but sometimes if you stay long enough, till the end of the conflict, you'll hear music from celebrations."
"Do you dance?" He perked up his head excitedly only to be met by your gentle hand placing him back down on the pillow.
"Of course, whenever I can." You laughed
"Then one day we'll dance together, yes?" He looked up at you
"I'd like that." You sighed.
After a month of caring for Yuji, the time was coming for him to travel back to his kingdom. His recovery time astonished all the nurses from your clan but he always played it off saying he just got the best nurse for the job. As the time grew closer for him to leave you began to feel less happy about him returning to his home, without you. It also filled you with a bit of shame as a healer, your job was to get people home safely from battle, but here you were wishing for a few more weeks spent with Yuji.
“(Y/N)?” Yuji called out to you. You had been checking up on the status of the wounds he received. All were almost completely healed and scarred or faded.
“Hm” You hummed in response.
“You seem distracted today. Are you tired?” Yuji had a face of concern. He hoped that the constant care he required this past month hadn’t caught up to you.
“No, no. I am distracted but not tired.” You continued to place the light bandages around nim.
“What are you thinking about?” He pulled your hands from his bandages and let them pool around his torso.
“It seems the conflict between your clan and the other has calmed down a lot. We see less soldiers being hurt each day. It means we’ll be moving on soon.” You looked away from Yuji as you informed him of your inevitable departure.
You didn’t see the expression on Yuji's face as you told him the news. He wasn't sad or even overly worried but he was determined to stay with you. It felt like a battle almost, the same determination that saved his clan’s land would keep you in his life for as long as the two of you wished.
"Would you also like to move on to the next land's war?"
"Well if I'm quite honest I've had my fill of wars witnessed. But there will be people who need us" The reason you had left your clan's home lands to help in these wars was to be able to help people with the medical abilities you inherited.
"Your clan's work is truly miraculous. We haven't known a decent healer in years on this half of the continent. It's selfish of me but I would have asked you to become the royal physician." His gaze held focus on you.
"I would have to earn status before I could accept an offer like that."
"How would you do that?"
"My teacher, the head nurse…she would have to approve a promotion for me. I don't know if I've impressed her enough to get that."
"Well maybe I should steal you away" he gathered you up I'm his strong arms and pulled you to his chest.
You sighed, if you weren't so prideful you'd let him. But you had your own goal of being a healer and you couldn't abandon that, not even for your favorite patient
