The fact that you wrote a Celeborn fic makes you my favorite person ever! Nobody ever feeds this addiction for me!!!
I LOOOOOOOVE CELEBORN!!! Personally I think he's an underrated character but I never see any content for him because everyone ships him with Galadriel (I mean, fair tho; they are a legit power couple). But I mean...

Ugh, he's perfect. Feisty, feral, Doriathian Prince goodness.

I'm having a cackle cause I saw @errruvande and @mor-wen doing this and just had to join in. Am I even in ten fandoms?! Probably not. Too bad we're not ranking them from most to least problematic (aka Bren has a history of liking the bad guys)

2) Millicent || Star Wars (Sequels), Kylux, 19.5k - Hux and Kylo bond over Hux's cat and end up catching feelings
Hux was about to get into his sleep clothes just as a chime of beeps sounded to inform him someone was at his door.
-
3) Rocks Break Gifts || Star Wars (Sequels), Kylux, 16.7k - The five times Kylo proposes, and the one time Hux says yes.

Whenever someone asked Kylo, he always said he preferred to keep to himself and the company of Silence, his horse and his best companion for the very fact of her name; she didn't talk, she didn't disturb the meditative quiet of his lonely rides, and, most importantly, he wasn't unsure how to curry her favour.
-
12) Girls' Night || Star Wars (Sequels), Kylux (kind of?), 3.6k - The Knights Of Ren spa evening
Hux marched down the corridor in the Finalizer's quarters deck, the section dedicated to command personnel.
-
13) Too Wise To Woo Peaceably || Star Wars (Sequels), Kylux, 6k - Teacher AU, School Play Co-Directors - written with @KyberKills, but the beginning line happens to be one I wrote with his revisions :)
Narrowly avoiding running over some scurrying second years at the school gates, professor Armitage Hux pulls into the school parking lot, turns off his car and sighs.
-
That's all I have up on ao3! They're more varied than I expected them to be, but I appear to like a strong, character focussed intro, sometimes with a nice bit of dialogue. Consistent beginning sentence length, on the other hand? I don't know her. I really like focussing on Hux first though, wow, it's almost like I think he's a really striking focal point who should be utilised to his fullest extent or something. Fun!

any thoughts on where coffee would fit in? i think either vegetania because coffee is beans, or maybe the dairy islands bc jugs of iced coffee at stores are in the dairy aisle? ive been thinkin about an iced coffee bottle bard who inspires people by getting them all pumped up because caffeine but i dont know where that would Be
i think the cafe squad would be a combination of vegetania and the dairy isles, or maybe theres a caffeine community between fructera and vegetania! i think because its the drink not the bean itself, dairy islands would make a lot of sense
co-opting the tealeaf wizard and chai latte paladin from earlier, i think a coffee character, a hot chocolate character and maybe a matcha/bubble tea character would be really fun (and they have a little biscotti dog as a team mascot) and they would all be children of vegetanians and dairy ppl!

Ancient Mayans used chocolate as money
The idea of being paid in chocolate is a daydream enjoyed by workers around the world. But according to a new study, the deal might not be so far-fetched. Joanne Baron of the Bard Early College Network has been having a sweet time analyzing ancient Mesoamerican art, and she thinks she’s identified the specific use of cacao beans as currency in the Mayan culture.
Cacao beans are the source of cocoa butter and cocoa solids, without which humans would never have discovered death by chocolate. Baron has presented an array of paintings, murals, and carvings, arguing that during the years 250-900 AD the status of these beans evolved from drinking to spending.
Up to that point the bean was used as the key ingredient in a delicious beverage, which was initially alcoholic in nature before becoming the hot and tasty treat people know today. In an article from last month, Science magazine talks about the role of trade in Mayan society: “The ancient Maya never used coins as money. Instead, like many early civilisations, they were thought to mostly barter, trading items such as tobacco, maize, and clothing.”
A Maya lord forbids an individual from touching a container of chocolate.
As well as the business of exchanging goods in the markets there were also royal tributes to consider. Mayan Kings required their willingly-given taxes, and it turned out cacao beans were a great way of settling the debt. Around 11 million beans per year were accepted, giving the cream of the crop — an endless supply of the dark and delicious material. This is shown in the art Baron has been poring over, leading her to think that chocolate went beyond its long-established religious and cultural significance to something more financial.
Raw cocoa beans, cacao powder and chocolate.
Chocolate being prepared the Mayan way
In her study, the details of which were published in Economic Anthropology, she argues: “(that) these products, originally valued for their use in status display, took on monetary functions within a context of expanding marketplaces among rival Maya kingdoms.”
The substance had been important to Mayans since its introduction, thought to be around 2000 BC. When the tomb of an ancient Maya King was found late last year, The National Geographic reported on the artefacts recovered with the bones, which it’s speculated are those of King Te’ Chan Ahk. Among the artefacts were earthen pots, believed to contain “offerings such as tamales, chocolate, or other food items that were intended to accompany the dead into the afterlife.” Chocolate was so essential it accompanied those going to meet their Maker. And if that doesn’t sound profound enough, then how about a deity devoted to the stuff? Ixcacao is the fertility goddess associated with chocolate.
Baron goes on to say that ancient Maya could have fallen on the basis of cacao availability. With the relatively precious nature of the chocolate seed, it makes sense it would have value above that of other materials used by the Maya, like maize. The beans could only grow in certain areas and needed moist soil under a humidity level of 90%.
Frontispiece illustration for ‘A treatise on the new and curious of coffee tea and chocolate’, (approximate translation), Philippe Sylvestre Dufour, 1685.
The anthropologist and Maya expert David Friedel, who co-directed the research on the aforementioned tomb, has his doubts about Baron’s fascinating conclusion.
Science
reports and quotes him as follows: “Freidel says the rise in artistic depictions of cacao may not necessarily indicate increased importance as a currency. As the Classic Maya period unfolded, he says, more and more people wrote things down and painted murals or pottery scenes. ‘Is it actually getting more important or are we just learning more about it?’”
A Lady Pouring Chocolate by Jean-Étienne Liotard (1744).
However, with the Aztecs recording the use of cacao as a means of exchange, Baron seems confident in her theory. In her research, she concludes, “that money’s value in social relationships is not shaped by its materiality alone but by practices and discourses that frame specific material properties as valuable.”
A depiction of an exchange of cacao beans during a marriage ceremony.
Chocolate was used by the Maya to seal marriage negotiations and ceremonies.
The longevity of this tradition is apparent in many Mayan wedding traditions even today. For example, the Awakateko are a Mayan ethnic group from the that reside in the Aguacatan municipality located in the northwestern highlands of modern-day Guatemala. Mayan marriage traditions practised today by this people still feature cacao quite prominently. For example,  after marriage negotiation between families, a marriage ceremony is performed which is  known as a quicyuj. The quicyuj means “cacao beans” and referential to the Mayan custom of using cacao beans to pay bride-prices/dowries to cement the contract to marry between the groom and bride. (Brintnall, 1979)

Troy emailed: "Hi Marc, I finished the epic Pub Songs podcast from Sherwood. That was a lot of fun! Thank you. I feel like I don't say that enough. It's a blast to follow your musical world.
Along the same lines, the Heroes CD is incredible. It's been getting regular play on the commute from work. Thank you for that too. I got a grin when you mentioned it on the podcast and said "you probably don't have this album."
I follow your blog via RSS feed, as I have for years. Sometimes the old ways still work. Anyway, I just read the one about social media not sparking joy for you. *raises hand* Right there with you on that one. I hear more and more that employers won't hire someone without a social media presence. Does it truly matter? I've never thought so. Sounds like you're coming to the same conclusion after years of being in the trenches on that. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the idea of immediacy, but everything seems to be immediate online. As they say, when everything is an emergency, nothing is an emergency. Unless you're one of these YouTube stars making bank on ad revenue for having millions of followers. Maybe then I'd get the need, but I don't follow any of those types.
It's a weird balance. People tell me I'm old for not being on Facebook. Many in the younger generation don't bother with it either. Not sure where that leaves me. But I know what I like. I seek out podcasts and music. That's how I found you years ago. I've never had a reason to second guess. It takes all types in the world. It's like that in any business too. It just seems to me that musicians make music. As Spock told Kirk, it's your first, best destiny. Anything else is a waste of material. ;)
I admire that you're willing to try new things, and I can't imagine how much of it comes down to marketing. In the end, you've built a solid product with a solid brand, and you continue to do so. It speaks for itself.
I did have one old school idea... have you thought about broadcasting your podcast feed on XM radio? Or even on local FM bands (in conjunction with local Ren Faires and cons)? Then the radio stations feel the need to advertise for you. Radio is where music lives, right? You probably have considered it, but it never hurts to toss an idea out there. I've wondered why, as popular as Ren Faires are now, why there is no Ren Faire Radio. But then... this is what you do in podcast form, isn't it? Is radio not the great granddaddy of all social media? Orson Welles knew it. Freddie Mercury knew it. 80 years on, has it really changed so much?
Apologies for rambling. In any case, this is a long-winded way of saying that this old school music fan appreciates you efforts. I have for years, and I will for years to come. I hope your move to Atlanta goes smoothly. All the best to you and yours."

TO PARIS FROM SAN FRANCISCO BEST THINGS TO DO
We compare cheap flights to Paris from thousands of cities across hundreds of airlines and hundreds  of travel websites from all over the world. We can find the cheapest flights to Paris with no commission or additional cost to you. and you could also find cheap hotels with good rooms and services.
About San Francisco
San Francisco, in northern California, is a hilly city on the tip of a peninsula surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay. It’s known for its year-round fog, iconic Golden Gate Bridge, cable cars and colorful Victorian houses. The Financial District’s Transamerica Pyramid is its most distinctive skyscraper. In the bay sits Alcatraz Island, site of the notorious former prison.
Ultimate Things to Do in  SAN FRANCISCO,CA
There are countless things to do in this city, but in homage to its compact size of 49 square miles, we’ve narrowed it down to just shy of 50, curating a list of the very best things to do in San Francisco. From Alcatraz to vintage streetcars, iconic San Francisco attractions lure nearly 17 million visitors every year—but that doesn’t mean they’re just for tourists. Even the most jaded locals never tire of admiring iconic landmarks like the sweeping span of the Golden Gate Bridge. Crammed with top-notch restaurants, artisanal coffee shops, sidewalk cafés, unusual and excellent museums, pocket gardens, hidden stairways, and eclectic shops, the city invites exploration. San Francisco events such as the zany Bay to Breakers race, sing-along musicals, and the colorful, cacophonous Chinese New Year parade tap into the unique local character. Whether you’re new to the city or just looking for new ideas, this list should provide plenty of inspiration.
Walk across the Golden Gate Bridge
Walking or biking across the bridge is a bucket-list must-do for locals and visitors alike. From the east side walkway, you can take in the soaring 746-foot towers, the city skyline, the Marin Headlands and the Pacific Ocean stretching to the horizon. The most photographed bridge in the world, the Golden Gate never fails to thrill—even when it’s shrouded in a blanket of fog.
Forage for fresh produce at the Ferry Building
On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays until 2pm, hordes of food-obsessed locals can be found combing the crowded aisles and produce stands of the Ferry Building Marketplace, where 75 regional farmers and artisan food purveyors offer a dizzying array of organic fruit and vegetables, and gourmet goodies from olive oils, meat, cheese and bread to chocolate, jams and flowers. In addition to the tri-weekly farmer's market, homegrown brands such as Acme Bread, Cowgirl Creamery, Hog Island Oyster Co. and Blue Bottle Coffee sell from permanent stalls.
Dine on dumplings at Yank Sing
The aromas coming from the steamed and fried dumplings at Yank Sing are so tantalizing, you'll likely gobble them down before finding out what's in them. Exceptionally fresh and flavorful dim sum is undoubtedly what keeps this longtime restaurant thriving in an unlikely corner of a massive office complex. Ordering is half the fun: Just point at what looks good as the waiters roll their carts past your table. Favorites include shanghai dumplings with pork, scallion, ginger and a shot of hot broth, stuffed crab claws, and goldfishdumplings filled with crunchy shrimp and bamboo shoot tips.
Ride on a rolling landmark
A few dollars can buy you a slow rollercoaster ride on an officially designated historic landmark. San Francisco's cable cars are a relic of the pre-automotive age, built to scale the precipitous slopes that were too steep for horses. Three cable car lines leave from Union Square and the end of California Street, traveling at top speeds of 9 mph through Chinatown, Nob Hill and Russian Hill to Fisherman’s Wharf. For extra thrills, hang off on the running boards and ride Doris Day–style. You may even get a bell-ringing serenade from the conductor.
Belly up for a Mission burrito
As any San Franciscan knows, the Mission District is the epicenter of the eponymous Mexican wrap. The steamed tortilla—packed with some combination of meat, cheese, beans, rice, guacamole and salsa fresca—was first introduced in the city circa 1969 at La Cumbre Taqueria (515 Valencia St at 16th St, 415-863-8205). Now dozens of taquerias have their devotees for “the best” Mission Burrito. Most people agree you can’t go wrong with Taqueria Cancun (2288 Mission St near 19th St, 415-252-9560), Pancho Villa (3071 16th St at Valencia St, 415-864-8840), El Farolito (2777 Mission St at 24th St, 415-826-4870), or—our favorite—La Taqueria, where the behemoth foil-wrapped bombs are filled with beans, cheese, salsa and meats ranging from carne and pollo asada to carnitas (but no rice).
Feel the Beats at City Lights
A bookshop and temple to the anti-authority Beat Generation, City Lights was cofounded in 1953 by bard/publisher/artist Lawrence Ferlinghetti, who still keeps the candle dripping over the chianti bottle well into his nineties. It was here that Allen Ginsberg’s Howl & Other Poems was first published and Ferlinghetti was arrested on obscenity charges, putting the Beats on the map. The nation’s first all-paperback bookstore is still a hub for progressive politics, fiction, music, philosophy, and all manner of poetry and indie literary voices. Appropriately, it’s located along Kerouac Alley and next to Vesuvio Café, the bar where Jack Kerouac, Neal Cassady and friends once held court.
Picnic in the Presidio
On Sundays from April through October, the food truck gathering known as Off the Grid offers Picnic at the Presidio, with dozens of food vendors, free lawn games, live music and a “bubble bar” on the expansive lawn of the Presidio’s Main Post, overlooking the Golden Gate. On Thursday nights from April through October, Twilight at the Presidio is a food truck “campout” with lantern-lit dining cabanas, cocktail service, Adirondack chairs, music and s’more fire pits. Additional Off the Grid gatherings all over the city feature food and entertainment year-round.
Roller skate in a church
Find your "rolligion" here: Founder David Miles, Jr., otherwise known as the Godfather of Skate, converted a former Catholic church into this modern-day roller disco. Strap on some skates and totter around the rink's perimeter while the Holy Rollers, a groovy, costume-wearing group of regulars, twirl beneath the mirror ball. The spot hosts open skates four nights a week: the gay-frequented Rainbow Night on Tuesdays, old-school funk on Wednesdays, date night on Thursdays, and Black Rock (Burner night) on Saturdays.
Take a night tour of Alcatraz Island
The formidable fortress in the middle of San Francisco Bay known as “The Rock” was once a maximum-security prison that housed notorious inmates such as Al Capone, George "Machine Gun" Kelly and Robert “the Birdman” Stroud. Haunting at any time of day, the very popular night tour adds an extra layer of chill—especially on creepy, foggy evenings. For the full effect, get the audio cellhouse tour narrated by former inmates and guards, which recounts harrowing tales of prison life, including the numerous tragic attempts at escape.
Sip a handcrafted cocktail
Lychee, lemongrass, fenugreek and chrysanthemum blossoms in your cocktail? Absolut-ly. The craft cocktail movement—arguably launched, and certainly lovingly cultivated—in San Francisco, has brought fresh-squeezed citrus, market-fresh herbs and an encyclopedia of hand-muddled and artfully infused ingredients to bar menus around town. Comstock in North Beach brings fresh twists to classic cocktails such as the Sazerac, Manhattan, Blood and Sand and San Francisco’s own Pisco Punch. Bar Agricole’s extensive cocktail list draws from small-batch curated spirits, bitters, vermouths and syrups—with ice cubes tailored specifically to each drink. Trick Dog’s elaborately crafted libations, named after iconic San Francisco sights and attractions, include such offerings as the Sutro Baths: El Dorado 3, Pampero and Don Q anejo rums, Sightglass coffee, grapefruit, fenugreek and lime. Check out our full list of top spots here.
About Paris
Paris, France’s capital, is a major European city and a global center for art, fashion, gastronomy and culture. Its 19th-century cityscape is crisscrossed by wide boulevards and the River Seine. Beyond such landmarks as the Eiffel Tower and the 12th-century, Gothic Notre-Dame cathedral, the city is known for its cafe culture and designer boutiques along the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré.
Ultimate Things to Do in Paris
Champs-Elysees
Shop (or Window Shop) the world's most expensive street
For a leisurely Parisian stroll where all the action happens, make your way to the Champs Elysees. This grandiose tree-lined avenue is one of the most famous and expensive streets in the world. In terms of tourist attractions, the Champs Elysees is where you will find popular landmarks such as the Arch de Triomphe in the west, the Palace de la Concorde in the east and the Grand Palace which lines the street.
The Champs Elysees is also the site of much celebration in Paris. On Bastille Day, Europe's largest military parade marches down the avenue and the finish line for the famous Tour de France bike race is held on the Champs Elysees. Christmas on the avenue is also a fantastic time to visit as stores and the street are illuminated with festive lights.
With such notable landmarks lining the street, real estate along the Champs Elysees is amongst some of the most expensive in the world. As such high rent prices are limited to high end stores such as Louise Vuitton, Hugo Boss and Guerlain. Some of the world's biggest chain stores also have their premier and flagship stores located along the Champs Elysees including Europe's biggest GAP store as well as the world's largest Nike store.
Dining on the Champs Elysees is also a quality affair with numerous five star restaurants boasting prime positions. For a taste of Champs Elysees on a budget, opt for just a drink at the famed Fouquet's brasserie or order a box of delectable macaroons from the celebrated Laduree.

Disneyland Paris
The happiest place in Paree!
Disneyland Paris is, without question, a well-known icon and the fifth most-visited theme park in the world, topped only by other Disneyland franchises across the globe. The theme park is the perfect place to visit for a day or stay onsite for an extended weekend. Disneyland Paris is located in the Parisian suburb of Marne-la-vallée and around 40 minutes’ drive from the city centre. You can also get here via several public transport methods, the best being by train. Disneyland Paris has its own train station, Marne-la-Vallee Chessy, which travellers should look out for when booking tickets.
With over 16 million annual visitors, this attraction sees more people than the Eiffel Tower, so picking the best time to go is key. To experience the most rides with the least queue times, it’s best to visit on a weekday and avoid school and bank holidays. During June, park visitor numbers are historically at their lowest and offers to extend stays at the resort are well worth checking out.
Special events also occur throughout the year and often include a magical display of fireworks featuring the fairytale 'Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant' – or the iconic Disney towers to you and me.
The following events that feature on the resort’s calendar are the most popular: the St Patrick's Day annual celebration on March 17, Halloween celebrated between October 5 to 31, Mickey’s fireworks and bonfire at the beginning of November, Christmas festivities starting mid-November through to the start of January and, finally, New Year’s Eve on December 31. Be sure to book well in advance for these popular annual events!

The iconic tower of Paris
If ever there was a must-do in Paris it's the Eiffel Tower. A must see, even just to say you saw it. For some, just a photo of it will do, while others will want to walk around it, climb it, eat on it and visit again and again.
The world's most recognisable landmark was built in 1889 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution. At its tallest the iron lattice measures 320 metres' making it the tallest structure in Paris and at the time that it was built, the tallest in the world.
Due to such iconic status, the tower is not only the most visited monument in Paris, but the most visited paid monument in the world. Each day the tower is visited by thousands and is also one of the most photographed monuments in the world.
A visit to the tower can be done so in a range of ways. Most choose to climb to the very top to admire the view of the city, while others relax on the grass below or take part in a bike tour around the tower. If you choose to climb the tower there are three levels available for visitors. The 1st level can be accessed via a flight of 300 stairs or a lift and is home to 1 of 2 restaurants on the tower. The second restaurant is located on the 2nd level, which can be accessed via 300 stars or a lift. Access to the third level is only available via a lift.
While visiting the tower during the day is a must, it is also worth visiting it again at night for the light show and to admire the City of Lights from above.

The hipster haven of Paris -Le Marais
Le Marais is a central district of Paris with a history more cobbled than the narrow streets that link the intricate urban landscape. Marais is sandwiched between St-Paul and République and has been one of the hippest parts of the capital city for the past 20 years, packing in modern hotels and vintage one-of-a-kind stores.
The area has a distinctive medieval touch with more intact pre-revolutionary buildings than any other Parisian district. The former residents of this area (who left soon after the French Revolution) were clearly wealthy; however they allowed the district to fall into a state of disrepair for many years.
Today, Le Marais is an unspoilt haven of awe-inspiring architecture, inviting cafés and quaint restaurants. The ‘classically French’ quarter features fashion and interior design boutiques along Rue Des Francs-Bourgeois and the creative culture sweeps through the maze of streets in the immediate vicinity. Sleek art galleries and cutting-edge fashion shops can be found on Rue Charlot, known to be one of Paris’ hottest retail areas, and people in the know take sharp notice of young, talented designers soon to hit the international fashion podium.
Visitors to this destination also love the quirky animated streets. Pristine mansions in Le Marais open their doors to showcase exhibitions of art, the story of its Jewish community and science among many other creative and historic categories. The bar scene and general nightlife in Le Marais is very gay friendly drawing in crowds from across the city to embrace the scene.
3rd & 4th Arrondissements, Paris, France, Europe
High art in Montmartre
Hilly Montmartre lies in the northern half of Paris’ central circle and was once the quiet location of sprawling vineyards and windmills, known locally as ‘moulins’. The Butte is Paris’s highest and most northerly point and has subsequently enticed building development over the years making the area densely populated, although it still provides some stunning views.
Montmartre is well known to be one of Paris’ most romantic stops with winding stairways that open out to fascinating views of historic leafy architecture and the cityscape. Take time out of your day to watch the world go by in one of the many atmospheric cafés, especially down Rue des Abbesses, which is notable for its typical French characteristics.
Historically, Montmartre has attracted artists and as influences have shifted through the years, a modern twist has emerged where photographers and musicians now descend on the ateliers of the quarter instead of the painters and sculptors of yesteryear. It’s also the setting of many popular French films.
As you’d expect of such a bohemian district, there’s some great nightlife venues in the area including La Cigale theatre, built in 1887, along the Boulevard de Rochechouart. Once a cinema, the venue took a drastic turn changing into a café then a live music venue specialising in indie and rock acts. Another venue going by the name of La Boule Noire or ‘Black Ball’ combines intimate gigs alongside massive bands such as Metallica and The Libertines, to name just a few that have performed on its iconic stage.
18th Arrondissement, Paris, France, Europe
Art on the Left Bank
The first piece of art you should observe when visiting the Musée D’Orsay is actually the building itself. Housed in a former train station built for the Universal Exhibition of 1900, Musée D’Orsay has called the site home since 1986. The museum’s exterior and interior is breathtakingly intricate and could be passed off as a palace worthy to sit in the centre of France’s capital city.
Musée D’Orsay houses a huge collection of artwork spanning 66 years from 1848 to 1914 and featuring pieces from the likes of Van Gogh, Pissarro and Monet. Venture upstairs to find an impressive assortment of Impressionistic works including galleries dedicated to the post-1880s work of Renoir and Monet.
The museum is well worth a visit even for those with a limited knowledge of historic European art. Some of the world’s most famous paintings can be seen side by side and are instantly recognisable, even to the untrained eye. Sculptures are common throughout the building and a particularly notable one is ‘Small Dancer Aged 14’ by Edgar Degas. The sculpture sits within a glass cage, on Degas’ specification, asserting the Dancer's status as a work of art.
Musée D’Orsay provides a number of different guided tours and the most popular (and permanent) is the 90-minute introduction tour that gives visitors a well-rounded overview of the museum with the opportunity to ask the knowledgeable guide any burning questions you may have.  Also, there’s free entry on the first Sunday of every month and for under-18s at all times!
62 Rue de Lille, Paris, France, Europe
Palace of Versailles
Fans of Sophia Coppola's Marie Antoinette and general lovers of pretty things must put the Palace Versailles on their to-do list. Once home to the infamous Queen of France, the palace is a stunning monument to French opulence and excess that was enjoyed by the royal family from 1682 to 1789.
Located 20 kilometres southwest of the city, the quickest way to reach the palace is by train, or better yet on a tour which includes entry admission and tour of the grounds themselves. Tours and audio guides (available for hire) of the palace are particularly recommended in order to grasp the history of the palace, with many guides giving you the history of the palace that King Louis XIV built, King Louis XV enjoyed and King Louis XVI paid for - with his head during the French Revolution.
While the history of the palace is fascinating, visually the building and its grounds are stunning. Inside the palace, the Hall of Mirrors is a highlight and amongst one of the most famous rooms in the world. Another room not to miss is the Queen's Bedchamber where, amongst the decadent gold and floral decor, you can see a small door where Marie Antoinette escaped when a mob stormed the palace.
Outside of the palace, the palace gardens are expansive and magnificently maintained. Wander down to the canal and hire a row boat or pick up a coffee at the local cafe and soak up the serenity. The gardens also feature a large number of elaborate fountains which are turned on at various times from April to October and are set to classical music, making for a spectacular view and experience.

The sacred heart of Paris
The Roman Catholic Church known as Sacré-Cœur sits atop Butte Montmartre, the highest point in Paris, offering glorious panoramic views stretching up to 30 kilometres away on a clear day. The literal English name for this popular landmark is ‘The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of Paris’ and the religious site also serves as a monument to those who died during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870.
Sacré-Cœur is an incredibly well- known monument in Paris and one of the most-visited churches in Paris after Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral. Construction began in 1875 and was completed in 1914 with the consecration short time after World War I in 1919. The people of France helped fund the project by offering modest gifts throughout the years, and the names of each private donor can still be seen etched into the walls of the church.
Leading up to the main dome are some 234 spiralling steps each providing a clearer view of the expansive city. If stairs aren’t your thing, a regular funicular or cliff train frequents the summit throughout the day. The bell in the church’s tower, named La Savoyarde, weighs in at a whopping 19 tonnes and is the largest in France.
The basilica is a well-known place of pilgrimage and sees huge numbers of worshippers congregate here, particularly over key Christian calendar dates.  The interior is awash with dated and intricate mosaics, including one of the largest in the world, making for a great photo op. The church and dome is open daily.

One of the most iconic book stores in the world
Shakespeare and Company
Chances are if you've seen a movie set in Paris you've seen a glimpse of this iconic book store. Quaint, romantic and quintessentially Parisian, Shakespeare and Company is a writers dream. Housing great literary works from throughout time, the famous store is a bookstore, library and meeting place where talks, readings and meet ups are held regularly. The store even has sleeping facilities for writers, which have been used since the sixties by some of the world's greats.
Over time the iconic book store has had two lives. The first was from 1919 to 1940 when it was owned by American expat Sylvia Beach and located, for the most part, on rue de l'Odéon. During this period the Shakespeare and Company book store was a hub for Anglo-American literature and was frequented by legendary writers such as Ernest Hemmingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Gertrude Stein and the painter Man Ray. Sadly due to the German occupation of France in World War II, Beach was forced to close her shop in 1940.
In 1951 however, an American expat called George Whitman opened an English book store on the Left Bank under the name Le Mistral. Much like the previous Shakespeare and Company, Le Mistral became a Mecca for artists, writers and the city's bohemian culture. Customers who frequented the store included Allen Ginsberg, Henry Miller and Anais Nin. Following the death of Sylvia Beach in 1964, Whitman changed the store's name to Shakespeare and Co as a tribute. Today the store is run by Whitman's daughter, Sylvia Beach Whitman.

The most visited museum in the world
If you were to visit just one museum in Paris - nay - the world, many would argue it should be the Louvre. The historic museum located on the right bank of the Seine is after all, the most visited museum in the world. Home to the famous Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo and 35,000 other pieces of iconic works from prehistory to the 19th century, all set across 4 floors and a space of over 60,000 square metres.
With so much to see and so many people to compete with, the Louvre at times can seem overwhelming. The trick to beating the museum blues however is to go with a purpose. Do your research before you go and have a plan of attack to see what you want to see without getting lost and going crazy. Alternatively, art rookies may wish to join a tour, leaving their Louvre visit in the hands of an expert.
The actual building the Louvre is housed in what was once a palace built in the 12th century. During the French Revolution however it was converted into a museum to display the nation,s masterpieces. Underneath the Louvre is a modern shopping centre and food court, with escalators from the centre offering direct access into the museum. All together the Louvre has 3 entrances with the lesser known entrances being via the shopping centre entrance or the Porte des Lions. Avoid the main entrance at all costs, particularly in summer in peak tourist season. It's also very important to buy your tickets in advance otherwise you will be forced to line up twice.
Once inside, head to the level and area that houses the collection that you want to see the most, whether it be the works of Leonardo Da Vinci (including the unexpectedly small Mona Lisa), Michel Angelo's sculptures, Ancient Egyptian art or Napoleon's grandiose apartments.

Apple, Amazon, Google, and hundreds of businesses vowed to meet Paris climate goals on their own ‘in the absence of leadership from Washington’
Apple, Amazon, Facebook, and Google want the world to know that "We Are Still In" when it comes to the Paris climate agreement.
And they're not alone. On Monday, hundreds of companies, including others like Microsoft, eBay, and Uber, — alongside a group of mayors and colleges — joined together as part of the "We Are Still In" campaign to reiterate their commitment to the principles of the climate agreement.
"In the absence of leadership from Washington, states, cities, colleges and universities and businesses representing a sizeable percentage of the U.S. economy will pursue ambitious climate goals, working together to take forceful action and to ensure that the U.S. remains a global leader in reducing emissions," the campaign said in its press release.
The move comes days after President Donald Trump announced on June 1 that the United States is pulling out of the Paris climate agreement, which was signed by 195 nations in December 2015.
The Paris agreement was intended to slow climate change by setting limits on carbon emissions and has been widely embraced by the business community.
The tech industry in particular has supported the Paris Agreement, and many of the big tech companies are currently transitioning their giant, energy-guzzling data centers to using completely renewable energy.
The "We Are Still In" campaign launched with an open letter to to the world, acknowledging that the businesses and communities that signed will continue to work towards climate change.
"It is imperative that the world know that in the U.S., the actors that will provide the leadership necessary to meet our Paris commitment are found in city halls, state capitals, colleges and universities, investors and businesses," the campaign wrote. "Together, we will remain actively engaged with the international community as part of the global effort to hold warming to well below 2°C and to accelerate the transition to a clean energy economy that will benefit our security, prosperity, and health."

Bards & Beans Coffee Co.
I finally did it. I finally finished my utterly sappy Holiday Coffee Shop AU which I’m debating posting on here as well, but also it will be available on Ao3 because I really can’t figure out how to post part 1, part 2 things on tumblr and I have 25 of those to do.

For the ask game!
🏅, ⏱, and ✏?
🏅 - What is the fic you're most proud of?
Hard tie between Bards and Beans Coffee Co. (Elrond X Fem! Reader) and No Elf Left Behind (Lindir X GN! Reader)
⏱ - What's the fic you've spent the most time on? Was it worth it?
Pfft 😭😭😭 Sadril-nin/My Loyal One. Was it worth it? I dunno because I'm rewriting it and changing it from a second person POV to a third person POV because I wanted so many details in it that would pretty much make it irrelevant to a reader. Also, it's on hiatus because I can't decide whether or not to include a major character death in the middle of it that would essentially reroute the entire ending of the first half.
✏ - What is your fave fic from another writer?
Mmm... so many though. Timeless Warrior for sure, by @my-fandom-musings. This Madness of the Heart by @sleepswithvillains. Um, literally almost the entirety of one-shots in the Elrond/Lindir tag on AO3.

Author Interview
I was tagged by @sleepswithvillains . I’ve never been tagged much before so this is kind of new for me, but I love it! Tag me all the time! Also you did it again, where I got the Tumblr notification like right as I went to bed, but my sleep schedule is so wack right now.
Tagging: @guardianofrivendell @moriamithril @sunflower1000 and really whoever wants to do it. Drop me a tag if you decide to do it because I definitely want to see what you have to say!
I have a lot of unfinished fics and not a lot of published works in comparison.
1. Name: The Merriweather Mage (Tumblr)/ RinzlersGhost (AO3)
2. Fandoms: LOTR/The Hobbit, The Witcher (TV), SWTOR/Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, Twilight, Underworld (though I’m not active in most of them unless I’m hyper-fixating)
3. Where you post: AO3, Tumblr, and I have an inactive FF.NET account
4. Most popular oneshot: People seem to have a real affinity for Meleth-nin/My Love. I actually hated writing it, because I was in such a bad place after receiving news that my childhood dog had died, but I don’t hate the fic itself.
5. Most popular multichapter: Every Kitten Has Claws which is a Geralt X Druid Fem!Reader. 25 Kudos, 3 bookmarks, 517 hits. Followed by Turuhalme in the Greenwood which is Thranduil X Fem!Reader. 9 Kudos, 1 bookmark, 270 hits. Both contain 18+ Content.
6. Actual worst part of writing: I legitimately hate writing fight scenes. I’m horrible at them and most of my fics contain some sort of fight scene obnoxiously enough. Although the best advice I ever saw on here was to keep your fight scenes short because not very many people are interested in a long drawn out detailed fight scene.
7. Favorite story you wrote: Bards & Beans Coffee Co. Elrond X Fem!Reader. Was the first time I’d ever written anything in the second person. I based it off of a dream I had about meeting Elrond in a coffee shop. I planned it, wrote it, and posted it in the span of four days. It’s basically as if Middle Earth exists on the other side of meridian locks, and it’s set during the War of the Ring but with some of the characters from the Hobbit so the timelines are pretty pushed together. Your side of the meridian locks has a Earth that is basically a continuous strip of land that varies from high-tech futuristic ports all the way down to medieval ports. Basically the farther North you go, the more high tech and futuristic the land becomes. Quite a shock for those who would have never been to the other side of the locks. 18+ Content.
8. Story you were nervous to post: Most likely all of them. Any of my Twilight work though, I always hesitate about publishing. Sometimes it’s because the stories are close to my heart, but I also know that the fandom can be rabid. Most of the interactions I’ve ever had with Twilight blogs are fine, but there’s a lot of discourse about Twilight right now, and while I appreciate that most people are in the right (the issue with the Quileute tribe, the Cullen’s as villains, Jasper and the Confederacy, the actual legitimacy of the Volturi as a ruling body, etc), this is actually one of the reasons I left the fandom from a writing/following POV. (There are many, many things that are wrong with Twilight and not from a literature point of view. For example, Meyers took a real life Native American tribe and treated them highly unfairly in the books, to the point of calling them dogs which isn’t very fair at all, and they have received no compensation for being used and they are risk in the place they live in now. If you have some time and money, I would recommend checking out the Quileute Move to Higher Ground project.)
9. How you choose your titles: For story titles, I like to choose the main theme or a main phrase that is used. For chapter titles, I either don’t title or I will chose something that is a main part of the chapter.
10. Complete works: Out of the 21 works I have on AO3, 18 of them are completed, although one is an open ended and may be reopened after I get some of the larger works out of my way. As for fics in general that I haven’t published or have published on other platforms, there is 2 of 5 complete works on FF.NET. Some of those stories I will be pulling and deleting. The two complete works will be migrating to AO3.
11. Incomplete works: Actively: Sadril-nin/My Loyal One, A Hunter’s Circlet, and Beauty in Brokenness (unpublished for now). I have a few other inactive LOTR/The Hobbit based fics that I might try to finish after the main two are finished. Inactive: Literally too many to count. I mean, when I wrote my goodbye to the Twilight fandom, I said that I had been writing for the fandom for nearly nine years. I have so many unfinished Twilight fics, well over 100.
12. Do you outline: Not usually. I’m at the point with Sadril-nin right now where I’m literally following a map of Middle Earth and cataloguing the journey across the map, so I guess that could be considered an outline. Mostly if I’m writing for LOTR/The Hobbit, I want to follow the timeline of progression for the story that’s already been written. I do have a little bit of leeway in that gap between The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings though.
13. Coming soon ideas, maybe? I’ve been giving you a taste of Beauty in Brokenness. I do intend to publish it, but it’s a constant struggle to rework it. I have ideas that I want to cement in the story that don’t always come out the way I want them to, so I am consistently reworking parts of it all the time. I will also be rewriting (eventually) Crown of Thorns, which is Pirates of the Caribbean fanfic, Lord Beckett X Siren!OFC. I also appreciate the idea of Nestadion X Centaur Fem!Reader, but instead of being a centaur all the time, you’re actually a shifter who can turn into a centaur. Really confuses a warrior elf to see what amounts to a small human carrying this massive two handed sword around and calling him “princess” all the time.
14. Ask me anything: Is there anything you miss in fanfic? In comparison to the actual book/movie? Not really. I appreciate the original works, but I recognize that they can be flawed and so can their authors/writers. Which is why fanfic is so appealing-- everyone has a different spin on the original; everyone has a different take on the characters, everyone writes differently, and that’s the fascinating part to me. The only downside, of course with any fanfic, is the fandom and it can be hit or miss with people. It is what it is, and the liberty of fanfic is that not everyone is going to like or enjoy your works, and the same goes for your tastes. Are there right or wrong opinions? I don’t know; I’ve both read and written some morally ambiguous fics, and some I would like to forget that I very much haven’t.
15. Best writing traits: Same as the worst writing traits. I’m a sucker for detail. I love it. I want my readers to see it like I do. When I read books or play D&D or play video games, I see it like I’m in a movie. When I write, I want you to see it like you’re on set and the cameras are rolling and you are perfectly prepared. I want you to feel like you are in the story, which is why my oneshots turn into series, and my multi-chapter fics turn into novel length stories. I find it obnoxious at times, because I feel like I can’t ever turn it off, but by the feedback I get, some of y’all really enjoy it, so let’s get this show on the road.
16. Upcoming Story You Are Most Excited to Write: Uhhhh, let me go browse my WIP folder. I’ve put quite a bit of research into rewriting Crown of Thorns and making it slightly more historically accurate. I know that there will be a Part 2 to Sadril-nin, because I’m not going to time skip a seventy/eighty year gap between the timelines of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. And I really don’t want to submit y’all to this absolutely massive story all jam-packed into one fic. Other than that, I’m also sitting on Through Hellfire and High Waters, which is another Elrond X Reader fic that follows the premise of a modern/medieval world all smashed into one. The Queen of Eryn Galen also needs a proper ending and to be published, a Thranduil X OFC fic; this one will also have a Part 2.
17. Spicy Tangential Opinion: I don’t care if my writing makes the characters out of character. I try to tag that if I can, but let’s be real here. Either I’m writing a character that originally has a limited backstory and a very real chance at an open-ended future, or I didn’t like the canon character and I’m rejecting that reality and replacing it with my own. Does it mean that I don’t or am refusing to recognize character flaws? No, and that’s the beauty of fanfic. You can do whatever you want. You might get hate for it or you might not. For example, I am a fan of Severus Snape (RIP Alan Rickman). Does his character have flaws? Yes. Do I like the way he was canonically written? No. Are his actions justifiable? Hell no. Is that going to stop me from being a fan? Again, no. He is arguably one of the most disagreed upon character of that series. I don’t see a need to defend why I write him the way I do. I don’t see a need to defend him in discourse, and I’m certainly not going to be hateful about it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion about it. Yes, there was probably some underlying intent when the character was written. I’m not here (unless you’re specifically asking my opinion on it) I’m not here to read in between the lines with characters like Snape. I do not care enough to lose friends over opinions like that.
