Autumn 12th - Potted Plant 🌻
Evelyn stopped by this morning and gave me a plant pot and the recipe to make more of them
All the animals are down where I put the new grass haha
I made an oil maker so I can turn my truffles into oil for lewis (and if im feeling nice I might give him his underwear back too haha)
I started making plans for the greenhouse >:)
Abigail asked for a blackberry off the notice board and I went to the saloon to give it to her and when I came out Lewis and Marnie were discussing their very secret relationship outside in the middle of town
I did want to tell everyone but I said I’ll keep it a secret for Marnies sake cus I like Marnie

Hello! I do apologize if you are no longer doing this but I happened across your amnesty post for the last year and it’s relevant to a debate I’m having with my family.
I’m from a place in England called Kent and one of our regional specialties is a dessert named gypsy tart. Now its right popular here but obviously terrible name! In my attempts to make my village less racist I’m trying to find a new thing to call it. I’m a fan of chalky tart because it’s pale and our ground is chalk but everyone else hates that idea. Itd be interesting to know if you had any thoughts?

Ooh it's a good pudding too (And, I have always cringed calling it Gypsy Tart because it sounds like a low-effort drag name XD)
I like chalky tart- It feels thematic, for one, and it fits the colour. I usually call it Kentish tart (may as well attribute it to the people who really did invent it) but the one that really tickles me is calling it "Noffee tart" - because the condensed-milk caramel filling is basically the same stuff as in a banoffee pie, but without the bananas.
This has pricked my curiosity too, because a similar toffee tart with fruit in Poland is called mazurek cygánski - "Gypsy mazurek", and now I wonder if the condensed milk toffee is what makes a dish "Gypsy" in the minds of settled people, or whether all of these stem back to some of the sweets we brought with us (Thinking of things like burfi and laddoo which were already popular in India before we left - Did we bring a taste for fudge with us?)

I am SO PROUD of my Production Class this week! This was their dry run - starting next week they have to do a bake sale every week until end of semester. This class is a final class before graduation. The point is to more or less throw them into the experience of being in a kitchen and get them used to it. They’re supposed to develop their teamwork skills, utilize all the techniques they’ve learned over the last couple years, and also get a feel for how to apply all that to current trends. I divided them into groups and gave them a very large menu and a deadline. It’s the only week where they get a dress rehearsal, and the only time they get to repeat a menu, after this coming sale they will get a new menu and new recipes every week.
This week they had to have 20 of each item ready, and we had a free tasting for whoever was on campus. Next week they will have to double their par (as part of getting used to high volume production) to 40 each.

the normal way to make banoffee tarts as far as ive seen is just fill a tart with caramel then place a banana circle on top but i like to cut out the middle man and just get very banana-y caramel. hence the mushy bananas. these are then mixed with the caramel:33
